Starting Today: Take an Extra 30% Off Summer Sale

A big "thanks!" to many of you, including Elaine & Pat (in this post), GigiOfCa & MDPA (in this post), as well as Lisa, Michelle, Donyele, Ketan, & Marietta, who let us know about another offer from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering customers 30% off any purchase from their Summer Sale {no minimum} and free shipping (over $150 *after* discounts applied) with promo code EXTRA30. This offer is good through this Wednesday, 6/23/10.

Even more exciting? This applies to J.Crew stores too ...wahoo!

I am happy to see this promotion return again. I am even happier that brick & mortar (B&M) stores will be offering the same discount. (Which is a good idea, because the B&M stores are filled with sale merchandise.) I will definitely be checking out the final sale section. :)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?

  1. Yay! I splurged even though I am going on a major shopping trip in Seattle next week. I got a jackie cardigan, super 120s pencil skirt, Cotton cady Lydia dress, and the Crystal cobblestone bracelet. The dress is for a wedding next weekend so hopefully it fits and arrives in time!

  2. ahhh I just told myself I would save my $ for shopping during vacation...and this came up. Pulled the trigger on 2 bikinis (gabriela and vista paisley), stocked up on belts, and snagged the garrison satchel. Bikini's may be going back depending on fit...but you really can't turn down under $30 a piece!

  3. I did. I've been stalking the Schoolboy blazer in Pearl Gray and Butterscotch FOREVER, and it finally popped back in both colors in my size this morning. With extra 30% off :). Crossing my fingers that I don't get a cancellation email.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I picked up some goodies that happened to pop back in my size and a few basic tees (for $7!) and also re-purchased a few items now that they are 30% off. I also did a major stock up on Crewcuts as I cannot resist the cute tees and swim suits for my kids:)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Most things I wanted are out in my size, or I already ordered at 20% off, but I snagged a few things! Let's see what actually gets shipped!

    ReplyDelete
  6. can anyone tell me if the striped ruffle francis shirt in 6 would be huge on me... i just got the papillon top in 2 and it fits perfectly.
    but i love the shirt!

  7. Sonofab!tch...typical, I placed an order last night >:-(

    ReplyDelete
  8. Figures - I bought 3 sale items at the b&m yesterday! Oh well! At least I got my sizes.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Does anyone know what time the site has been updating lately? I'm trying to snag a couple items in my size but keep missing them. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I looked and looked and didn't find a thing I wanted. I've already picked up every thing I want. I couldn't believe it, but nothing ended up in my cart!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anyone can comment on sizing of the Jackie shells? I am a S in Jackies but XS in (almost) everything else and was wondering if I should go with a S or XS ...
    TIA!

  12. so i just ordered a jackie cardi, linen gazebo trousers, tailored denim pencil skirt, a tee, some crewcuts and a necklace. i think i did alright. i had the order sent to my aunt in raleigh in case i need to make any returns while i'm there since savannah doesn't have a crew :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. Even though I've already gone a bit nuts with the sale recently, I bit again on this one. Jealous of Electra snagging the schoolboy blazer - I'm stalking that one too!

I grabbed the long boyfriend blazer, the rose vines blazer and the lollipop blazer, as well as a couple cashmere sweaters (good deal on the ladder-stitch one). We'll see what works out - I've had to do a lot of returns lately.

  14. Has anyone tried the Embroidered Zafrina skirt, item 26721? I only found one review on Crewlade's blog. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I reordered a bunch of stuff that I recently purchased, the extra 30% off really adds up! Now I have to make a bunch of returns.... sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Has anyone tried the super 120s Carlyle dress? It looks dangerously low-cut .. any IRL feedback would be appreciated :-)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Marietta, I did the same too. I haven't had a chance to wear my most recent FP purchases and lots of things sure went on sale so quickly. I wonder if J.Crew is finally having a bit of a downturn in sales.

Also picked up the silk/cashmere wrap. I am crazy for scarves and have a silk/cashmere one from a couple years ago that is really lovely, so soft and the color is very rich. Hope this one is just as nice.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Is anyone else having trouble with the website? I can't access my shopping cart, and I keep seeing items drop off...this is really annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I bit, even though I also made a large order during the 20% promo a few weeks ago. Ordered the ikat dot pencil skirt, a few basic scoopneck tees ($9!) and I'm going to try out the solid schuyler dress, but i'm not sure if it's going to work on my figure.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Kat, I'm having the exact same troubles...the site is slow, and it ended up erasing my cart and losing everything:( Plus, now everything I wanted is gone...sometimes these 30% off sales just end in frustration!

    ReplyDelete
  21. LBH, I don't have the Carlyle dress, but my colleague does. I have its predecessor Jane (2006) and the Carlyle is definitely lower-cut. My colleague just barely gets away with it IMO. She fills it out better than I would so ironically it might work better on someone with a fuller rather than a smaller bust. On me I think it would gap excessively. Shame, because it's a pretty dress. If not FS, might be worth a try for fit.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh, and no sale for me. I just RUINED the salmon Marche satchel I got on sale last month and I am too depressed to shop (yes, there is such a thing as that kind of depression, LOL).

    ReplyDelete
  23. Kat, i haven't bought much in a while but this morning my session timed out (which i don't recall having happened in the past but maybe i just shopped faster or wasn't so distracted) and I lost a sweater. so then i hurried to finish my order but had to search to find something to help me reach FS.

    ReplyDelete
  24. wow the website is slow!
FYI - I called jcrew customer service and had a rep place my order for me (the extra30 wasn't applying online). No waiting for websites to load! She took care of everything :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hexicon, what happened to the satchel?

I feel for you. My cat ruined my favorite kate spade by using it as a scratching pad. And no similar styles in that color now to be found (plus it would be depressing to spend that money again too!)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ack, I am weak and bit on the Lollipop blazer.

And I just bought the Zafrina skirt at the store yesterday on sale - I kind of don't want to go back for a price adjustment for fear of going crazy in the sale section - lots of markdowns yesterday in the ATL Lenox location!

    ReplyDelete
  27. the site is soooooooo slow....

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh goodness did I ever. When I woke up this morning there were dozens and dozens of bags in the sale section, so I bought myself a long-coveted bisbee satchel. I was a total steal with this promo.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for the feedback, Hexicon. I still love the purple 120s dress (from fall 2008, I believe) and would like to add another - but the Carlyle neckline looks a bit ooh la la, and I don't have that kind of job, lol.

Sorry to hear about your handbag - no chance of undoing the ruining?

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's been about two hours now and I STILL cannot access my shopping cart :( I think I'm going to give up completely. This is beyond frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm with Ms. BearCub...I called the CS line and explained that my cart had been emptied out twice (the first time I was smart and took a screen shot of the final order page) and the CS rep gladly took my order. I also confirmed that these items are not final sale, and can be returned at my B&M any time. I'm happy to get the torque tee for $28 instead of $58/$39.99 :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. I ordered all my goodies last night (PST) and I think I did pretty good (or bad depending on how you look at it :( ). I'm going to stay away from the B&M stores for these 3 days and then I'll do some returns!

I ended up ordering the Rose vines blazer, soft spun cardigan (I love this item, so easy to wear!), flutter fold shell, crystal milano necklace, and studded bar-car belt. The total was a little over $150 for free shipping, I felt like I just shopped at the Crewlet :P

    ReplyDelete
  33. I did a few re-purchases, but most of what I am stalking is out in my size... I'll keep watching ;) Lots of returns for me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @audball:

thanks for asking the phone CS rep about final sale or not online with this promotion. I was in the B and M store near my house today, where their OWN 30% off sale items ARE final sale, and the signs and sales associates said so. Repeatedly. The one rep I talked to was unaware that its no longer FS online. The final order receipt that I printed (also ordered online today with the promotion) did NOT have 'final sale' language on it, like bad old days of FS.
Such is the weird world of JC.

  35. Cass, even though I had protected it with leather spray I got some sticky schmutz on it that wouldn't come off via fingernail, so I got out the (very mild) leather cleaner. Turns out the stain was ink-based, so as I rubbed it the stain spread rather then lifted, plus the cleaner lifted the finish so now I have a dark AND a light spot. I am not sure whether this speaks to the bag's quality or lack thereof but I'm mad at myself for buying a light-colored bag. Have ordered some pink and orange shoe polish in an attempt to concoct a solution but am doubtful

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ditto what Carol said--sale items are final in-store. but at least you can try on the items and see the quality so I don't mind as much.

Anyway I just went this morning and here is what I remember in the sale section. Hope this helps!

    Before the extra 30% off
    Alice ruffle cami $29.99
    Kelsey ruffle cami $49.99 (ivory)
Perfect fit petals cardigan $29.99 (so cute in person)
    Black ankle toothpick jeans 29.99
lots of city fit capri pants in many colors $39.99
    rugby stripe dress $79.99
    ginny dress 79.99
    fringe tunic 39.99

That's all I can think of now. I might be going back to the store later so if there is an item that you would like me to look for/purchase for you let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  37. oh and zipper denim minnie pants (item 27080) are $29.99 before the extra 30% off. a steal since they are almost $70 online.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nothing for me so far with this promo. There are a couple of items I would consider, but they never seem to show back up in my size, unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would absolutely LOVE to order something, but can't seem to get my shopping bag to show up! Grrrr.
I guess that I will have to call a rep to place my order as well...good idea. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. The site is way too slow so I can't even browse, and I can't remember exactly what was in my cart. Can't be bothered to call them. If you're going to run an e-commerce site you have to at least make sure it actually RUNS. Bad, bad, bad service J Crew. You're not getting my money today.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hexicon - you should have your bag professionally repaired, if you love it enough. I had inadvertently gotten dishwashing soap on my beloved Rebecca Minkoff Nikki in lawn (such a gorgeous green), and the area turned lime green. I brought it to Artbag in NYC, and they dyed the area with a matching green.... you cannot even tell that I had it repaired, that's how good it came out. It cost me $80, but for a $600+ bag, it was totally worth it.

  42. I cannot checkout-- the checkout page takes forever to load

    ReplyDelete
  43. That sucks hexicon.

Marietta, good suggestion. I am going to see what they can do about my Kate Spade!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Fit on seaside madras shirt anyone? Please! Thank you so much!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cass - glad to help out! A great repair can lengthen the life of your bag considerably, not to mention the emotional attachments we have to them! It's so worthwhile, not to mention cost effective, considering how much we spend on a bag we love. Artbag is very reputable, I did a lot of research prior to entrusting them to my bag. They did an awesome job! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Slastena - I sized down one on the seaside madras shirt, for a more fitted, feminine look.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Marietta- thank you very much.:)

  48. i was up late last night wondering if it was time for a % off plus freeship and whatdoyaknow... of course I'd gone to sleep (11PM PST) when some of you die-hards, I mean, devotees caught the early whiff of sale...

yeah, ITA with the slow website. Crazy slow! was trying to window shop through lunch but gave up after a bit as pages took forever to load. Don't know if I'll bother to try later tonight, when i'm sure it'll be even deadlier slow when people get off work. I'm eyeing cardis, jewelry and tops... the belts i got a few days back are sold out in my size, so i'm happy, i bit when i did, as for the riders (perfect tees), i don't mind paying "regular sale" price, as i've been in love with JC tees forever.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Does anyone know if the extra 30% off sale online without the final sale is something JC will keep up with? Or are they just trying it out? I only remember it always being 30% but final sale. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  50. this is crucial info... must check out now!!! :) thanks...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Marietta, thanks for the tip--I have a top-quality Kelly replica from the 80s, and after I wore the handle clean off my local shoe repair repaired it with a tacky replacement. I'm going to contact artbags because they sound like real pros!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I reordered the dark charcoal Jackie shell and cardigan which I haven't even received in the mail yet... so I'll be returning the more expensive one (I think they're pricier by $10 or so).

    I also got:
    - Cashmere ribbed shawl popover in pale oak
    - Cashmere turtleneck sweater in pale nectar
    - Cashmere turtleneck sweater in heather hydrangea
    - Trap glass necklace

I was disappointed that so many XS's were sold out...

    ReplyDelete
  53. One of the items I re-purchased this morning arrived from a previous order and I have say I really love it! (and love it even more @ 30% off) The Rumpled Sateen tote- It is a nice size tote, lots of pockets, leather handles and a great color for Summer! So for $49 I think it is a super fun bag:)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Barring the dreaded cancellation email, I ordered the Garrison satchel, which I've been coveting/stalking for weeks and was a pop back this morning! Also got the Jackie twinset in dark charcoal, and the sequin stripe henley tank (which I was planning to buy anyway). Have vowed to not place any more orders until the fall roll out...

    ReplyDelete
  55. After I saw here that the Carlyle dress is on sale (tricky -- I had to search for it), I went and ordered it in petite 0 although I usually wear 00... oh well, I hope it fits. I also ordered the Andre in petite 00 which I've tried on before and thought was just too low. I think this time it's cheap enough so I will try to have a tailer sew closed the top and make it a bit more modest.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I placed an order last night but I'm hoping they put more items on sale. I hate piling on cashmere, but I just can't resist the colors and the % off sale price is easier to swallow.
I too dread the final sale and I'm glad this time it isn't online.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Well, I think I now know the reason that Final Sale is in place in stores. The exact same shirt I was looking at for DH online is $10.00 cheaper in-store and still has the 30% discount. So it may certainly be worthwhile to visit a B&M if you can!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Fabulous sale deal I found:

Tall Vintage Matchstick Cords....great color selection and all sizes. Just ordered two pairs. They come to !!!$13.99!!!! with the EXTRA30 code...what a steal. Here's the link: http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Special_Sizes/tall/pants/PRDOVR~18089/99101897697/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~0~15~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~matchstick%20cord/18089.jsp
They aren't listed in the sale section, I searched for them. If someone already mentioned this, sorry for the duplicate post...no time to read all the other comments, just wanted to pass along this great deal as an FYI!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Link didn't post....just type Vintage Matchstick Cords in the search box on the website...Happy Shopping!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ahhh, again could not resist, especially with the ~30%~

Re-bought some crewcuts things (like the adorable tulle skirt!) that I bought last week for gifts, some basic tees, two silk camisoles (really concerned about the fit of these, but I've been eyeing them forever and for $17 and change? Sure thing!), and the solid Schuyler dress in black.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I went to the Arden Fair store in Sacramento today and picked up the petal vine tank for about $35 with the discount and a few necklaces ($13) after discount...score!!! I cannot tell you how many t's they had hanging in the sale section....it was insane!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. thanka for the heads up on the matchstick cords! will they add on to the order i placed this morning?

    ReplyDelete
  63. marisa: no idea....call customer service and ask them...

    ReplyDelete
  64. will do! i can't open the size chart online and need to know what numerical size is equivalent to a 4. thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Marisa: the online chart shows size 4 = 28

    ReplyDelete
  66. Sayonara, online final sale!!! I rebought some CC, and added a few jersey dresses for me since they're at about the right price to quality ratio. I went into the B&M, where FS is sadly in full effect, and scored like crazy for DH. There was TONS of goodies for the guys, lots of polos at 10 and 15 bucks before % off, cargo shorts, PJ pants, and the best was a grey linen/cotton cardi with a band of stripes on one arm. $69.50 full price, down to $19.99... so fourteen smackers! Too bad there wasn't anything so choice in the sale for me. It looked like everything was the same as the online prices, and the sale was like 3/4 tees. There was a return of the Hockney satchel in Rhubarb, and it was simply YUM. The leather-ring handles look so freaking cool, I almost folded, and the leather is super soft. Luckily it wasn't the purple or brown, so I stayed strong. I guess I have to go back to my old JC stalking ways!

  68. For the first time in a long time for me, this was the perfect promo at the perfect time on all but one item I've been stalking waiting for a good sale. Picked up the petite ikat dot pencil skirt, petite super 120's pencil skirt in espresso (I was dying for more colors to go on sale! Love this skirt) and decided to take a chance on the petite Coralie cami since I needed to round out my cart for the free s/h. Great deals on all. Excited to receive and try on my new items!

    ReplyDelete
  69. We might not get a good update for the final day of the sale tomorrow, but if you're still shopping I invite you to visit this post on my blog for a links to irl pics & reviews.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm so excited to use this promo in stores! I love perusing your blog for great codes and sales and had to share one I just took advantage of: Recently I haven't been getting the coupons in catalogs others have so I checked out ebay to see if anyone listed theirs and there are quite a few! I paid less than $10 for a code for 20% of ANY online order and saved over 60!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. It is so strange that sale items are final sale in-store, but not online. I snagged a trench coat for my husband and the Studded tunic top. I did find the tunic in-store, but one of the studs was falling off, and they refused to sell it to me! No damage discount, nothing. I would have even paid the sale price and then just had my tailor add a few stitches. Oh well!

    ReplyDelete
  72. s

JCrew will not sell defective goods. So if you see something that is defective don't point and it and just buy it and fix it yourself:)

I know once back in 2006 I pointed out a defect and the item was sent to the tailor (Free) for repair but have since heard they won't sell defective items anymore.

OR recently- this winter 2010- the store person helping me ordered a sweater for me from the red phone b/c the only store one in my size was defective--even on sale and I did not have to pay for shipping due to the defect issue.

  73. finally succumbed to the siren call. Got the prism bracelet and necklace in gun metal, 9" chino shorts in pale cinnabar and shadow, kelsey ruffle tops in azalea and copper, and francis camis in shell and orchid. jewelry and tops should work well with fall pieces. some of the colours are selling out fast, glad i bit when i did! (and am STILL glad i snagged square buckle belts and tees as riders last week cos belt is now completely sold out) now i hope everything arrives AND fits!

  75. OT: A JCA mentioned to me that someone was selling fake bow skirts. She mentioned it because I was selling my bow skirt and wanted to make sure my was authentic. I bought mine at my local retail store and have the receipt to prove it. I just noticed someone on ebay is selling a bow skirt in that popular tiffany blue color (I also own that color) and happended to notice the tag doesn't match the skirt I own even though they should be the same - correct? It could be my mistake and I do not mean to draw conclusions that are not called for but its one of those things that makes you wonder. My apologies if I offended anyone.

Plus, I just realized I bought something from that exact seller last year and somehow the item looked very suspicious and part of the tag was cut off which is plain weird.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I gotta ask...who is buying the Featherweight torque tee's? I love the color and the fabric looks soft but the 'twist' effect to the shoulder seems would drive-me-nutz!!
