20% Off on Shorts {for women}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Lauren (in this post), who let us know the following promotion.

J.Crew is offering 20% off on select full-priced Women's shorts (click here to shop online). The fine print of the offer includes:
Prices as marked. Offer valid on jcrew.com only through Sunday, June 20, 2010, 11:59pm ET. Cannot be redeemed for cash or applied to previous purchases.
Much like the last few time (for knits & tees, as well as pants), I am loving that this offer is automatically applied (no need to input a code). Although this time, they are *not* throwing in free shipping with this offer. Ah well! :)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, what items are you planning to get. Please share! :)

  1. I have the Drapey Supper Shorts in black and the (sadly sold out) Georgette Micro Shorts. The Drapey Supper Shorts are nice, but nothing to write home about. For the current price, I'd recommend -- nice colors, pretty fabric. The Georgette Micro Shorts are AWESOME. They are crazy fabulous. J. Crew needs to bring them back and make them in more colors, because I'd buy a few more pairs at full price.

I'm also interested in the Westcott shorts, which are sold out in my size. Anyone tried? How are they?

The striped silk romper is adorable. I'd buy it if they'd included it in the promo; sadly it's still full price. I'll be waiting for sale.

  2. Is it just me or the promo is not working? The sale price is not showing and I did a mock check-out but the promo doesn't apply neither...

Alos, a s I already said in the sale watch post, the starfish shorts went on sale in stores this week. They are 39.99 and the new fireworks cinema shorts are $10 cheaper in the catalog.

  3. Too bad the free shipping isn't included. I don't think the 20% off is that great of a deal without it.

That outfit the model is wearing is just really hideous, IMO. Why not put her in something appealing to actually help sell the clothes?

  4. Great news: Free shipping on all orders of $150+ through Sunday, June 20. Use code "SHIP150".

    Just placed an order!

  5. FFM, I agree - the first thing I thought when I saw this post was, "That outfit is hideous!" I can't imagine that looking flattering on anybody.

I am not a shorts person for the most part so won't be taking advantage of this offer. I do have two pairs of bermudas (with stretch) from a few years back and like them.

  6. The only shorts I can wear are bermudas and I'm set in that department. I won't be taking part in this promo, but thanks for asking, j.crew! ;)

  7. Did someone forget to mark down the shorts?? From my side of the world, all women's shorts are not marked 20% off.

I'm passing too. I will wait until next year for new shorts. Tried enough shorts during the first shorts promo - not loving anything and tired of buying->returning, buying->returning (viscious loop).

  8. Oh wait, the shorts main page does not display the sale price but it's available on the individual product page. If you navigate to the Sale section, the sale price is shown on the main shorts page.

  9. I have a cart full of things I love, buy sadly w/o a free shipping promo I am going to pass. Sad...

  12. I'm not a shorts person either. Wish they had a general % off or for suits.

  13. Glad they brought back free ship. It's usually a day after new arrivals or big sale updates, so people who just *have to have* something will pay the shipping costs.

OT, BR is having 40% off ALL full priced merchandise starting tomorrow for BR/Gap/ON cardholders. They have some cute new arrivals too. If you have a card check your email for details.

  14. I just tried on the cutest shorts at my b&m but they aren't on the website (boo). They're made of the softest dark denim with a black ribbon band at the waist. Must be an in-store only item; too bad or i would've grabbed them with the % discount. I'm not a shorts person either so i can't justify paying full price but these were so flattering and comfy; i was tempted, but i had to pass.

  15. I got the neon madras & 5" chino in kiwi. Psyched! I love Jcrew chino shorts :-D (BTW- the pale lilac is a really pretty color; you can make them preppy with whites, or toughen them up with blacks & greys.)

  16. Well if there is one thing I have more of than I need, it is shorts. More shorts than there is summer really. Having lived in the deep south before moving to Canada (where incidentally it has been cold and rainy for weeks now, boo-hoo), I had already amassed quite a collection and kept buying more before realizing, hey, I'll never get the chance to wear half of them.

Even so, I got sucked in and bought the gingham ones recently. They are now in the return pile. Not bad really, just not great enough to keep.

I would love a promo on knits. Can anyone comment on the sizing of the Haya sweatshirts? And are they nice and soft like the Jaspe?

  17. Hi xoxo - I found that the Haya pullover was soft and thick, but not as stretchy as the Jaspe and therefore I could not size down. I have the hoodie and pullover from last summer both in an XS, but tried an XS in the Haya pullover and it was tight and fitted. I'd definitely have to go with a S... and maybe even an M if I wanted to layer (and have the slouchy fit). So I guess there may be some trial-and-error with picking the Haya size that would best work for you. Just my $0.02.

  18. xoxo: Sorry to hear about your cold weather we are the opposite here it has been a nice Spring here with alot of hot days, but I still do not need any more shorts.

  19. silver_lining, thanks for the sizing advice. I have Jaspe in S so will order the Haya in M and see how that works. I wore holes in the elbows of my Jaspe last year, it was such a comfortable favorite, but thin. Might be a good thing if Haya is a bit thicker.

casual-crew, I am so jealous. I love hot weather and have been reading email from friends and family down south having picnics and BBQs for months now. We even had snow here twice in May, right after our one week of hot weather. Unfortunately, my husband's career transfered us here and my career won't allow for a vacation at this time so I'm stuck. *Please* let it warm up soon!
