Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Just returns for me this weekend - nothing on my list I am looking to buy. (unless my calvary blazer happens to be there)

  4. OT- Is anyone else having trouble w/the J Crew website this morning? When I click on an item it redirects me to the home page.

  5. Wendy - yes - it's borked.

OT - can I post a madewell free ship code here?
    CT4K3S - $100 min expires June 14.

  6. I thought about going to the store to make some returns but decided to mail them back instead. (Will actually then return and not buy anything:)

  10. Went to the Crew in Milwaukee (Mayfair) last night and there were lots of things on sale - not a ton of them great. Lots of short shorts (what's with the teeny shorts and skirts these days?!), ruffle cardigans, thin tees and skimmers. They had some new stuff in that I hadn't seen yet. The Wildcat Ombre Pencil Skirt was an odd material - felt rough and cheap. Saw the Jessie cotton dress as well, not impressed. The skirt material is very thin and shapeless. The Superfine Cotton Emmaleigh Dress is nice, but pricey. Shorts are all too short - though I like the boyfriend chino. And the Pebble Seraphina Dress is gorgeous, but not for anyone with boobs. Also saw one of the Fenton/Fallon necklaces in person - gorgeous but weighed a ton.

  11. Just returns for me as well. The last two orders have been a bust. Shorts and a striped shirt were okay, but not great and definitely not worth full pop.

The biggest disapointment is the SeaVees 12/62 desert boots for
$145.00. After waiting almost four months they arrived this week. For $145 I was expecting something great. Sorry, but they aren't worth it. Not that comfortable and the cost isn't reflected in the quality. Guess I'll look elsewhere.

  12. The freeship code TWP42M wasnt working for me(says its expired?). Did anyone else have this problem?

  13. No store for me until I travel back stateside this summer.

I am wearing the oak tweed pencil skirt today and while I love the look and feel of it, the fabric has me feeling a bit like Scarlet O'Hara and not in a good way. I lived in Atlanta when I was younger so I'm really familiar with the movie Gone With The Wind. I'm positive that when I was a child, we had curtains made out of the exact same material as this skirt. It's a very odd feeling to be wearing curtains.

  14. I HAVE to go... return the Blakely dress, which I bought months ago and is now too big (yay!), and search for another dress to wear to a wedding tomorrow :( and i just knoooow i will buy other things.. blargh

  15. Skimmer pants, anyone have these? I tried a pair and they were like MC Hammer jodpurs...balloon-y at the top and tight at the leg opening. Is this the way they fit others? (I tried a size 0)

  16. This thread is cracking me up esp. as it seems most of us our returning. I used to keep 90% of what I ordered. Now it seems like I return 90%!

I have returns but am going to mail them back this afternoon. A little bit of a drive to get to the store--over an hour and not inspired by anything right now.

  17. I am relatively new to j.crew and I have a couple of question regarding returns. Is it cheaper to use their UPS return label versus paying for your own postage? Is the brown bag the order comes with sturdy enough to make it back? Also, can you items from different orders in one package?

Thanks for helping a clueless newbie out.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gorden,

I find it cheaper to use the UPS label b/c I usually return multiple orders at once and paying $7.50 is a good deal. Beats waiting in store lines, gas $ and my time.

I have returned up to 5 different orders--about 9 items all at once before...no problems.

I have also used the brown paper JCrew shipping bag for one light item once and paid for my own postage as was cheaper that way.

    Hope that helps.

  19. What is up with the JCrew site? Is it down? Bummer AGAIN.

  20. I stopped in last night to make a few returns..... the oddest thing, JC is now selling women's lace thong undies! They were in bins at the counter by the registers, and I was shocked! Has anyone else noticed this? I asked the SA about it, and she was kind of chagrined, too. In case anyone cares, they are $19 each. What will they think of next!?!?

  21. Just went to a JCrew store today and they were discounting men's vintage boot-cut jeans for $29.99, reg. price of $96. Also men's vintage slim jeans with the lighter blue color were discounted to $39.99, reg price of $96. Very good deal and better prices than found on their website.

  22. Hi--I have an OT question - how do the Madewell jeans fit? If a 26 in matchstick -- would be a 26 in MW jeans?

thanks in advance for any help!

  23. Hi all. I stopped at the B&M at Easton in Columbus, Ohio today on my way to Trader Joe's and I was amazed at the size of the sale section, the biggest I've seen it in a very long time. Here are some of the things they have:

    - a few impressionist, pastiche, and turkish delight pencil skirts
    - tons of impressionist camis
    - tons of the cayla ruffled shell
    - a few dotsalota chiffon camis
    - several jaipur perfect shirts and metallic studded tunics for $49.99
    - tons of the relatively new contrast trim cardigan in both gray and lavender for $39.99
    - a few ginny dresses in white and pink
    - one sunshine peony strapless dress, size 6
    - two bazaar tunics, sizes 6 & 8

Karen, I tried on the skimmer pants in a 6 and they fit the same weird way on me. Glad to know it's the pants and not just my body.

After trying on lots of odd-fitting things, I only walked out with the last watercolor garden pencil skirt and a sale jackie cardigan (it must have been an old color, because it was the only one on sale).

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oops, I meant the bazaar shell, not the tunic. I must have the tunic on the brain because I'm still coveting it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lauren PhD,

You must have been there right after I left, the two bazzaar shell's were my returns and I ALMOST bought that same skirt. Alas, I headed home, having made all of my returns, with nothing

At least I know it went to a good home :)

  26. Has anyone tried the candy wrap mini? I'm wondering how the sizing is IRL- as I have my finger hovering...;)

    ReplyDelete
  27. BTW, while I was there the sales associate told me that another summer shipment is coming in "a week and a half".

Also, sorry for the improper use of an apostrophe in the last post :)

  28. I don't find the selling of underwear that strange. J. Crew used to have a whole line of intimates; bras, bikinis, thongs and a lot of them were lace too. I wasn't too happy when they got rid of them. That was when they were more catalog sales than B&M sales. This was probably 10-12 years ago that they had these. I remember getting some when I was 16.

    ReplyDelete
  29. JCrew had really nice cotton underwear in 2002-3 or so....low rider bikinis. I bought in bulk when they went down to like $2 a pair on clearance. I still have 1 unopened 3 pack. They last a long time...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I actually was just thinking about how I missed J. Crew's lingerie! That's exciting, as long as they bring it back at the same quality level it was before. I think I bought my first "real" bra there a million years ago, and it was so pretty.

  31. I went to the JCrew at Galleria Mall in Buffalo and was disappointed with their stock of new arrivals - none of the things I wanted to try on like the Candy Wrap skirt, eyelet bow blouse, no petal vine shirt... mostly just pants, basic tops/shirts, button downs, and the peasant/boho type items. The sale section was stocked with embellished tees, a ton of black blossom jackets, some of the floral print skirts, and a few of some of the blouses that came and went so quick I don't remember their name.

It was the first time in a long while I haven't picked something up!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Tried the skimmers too, a little too tapered for me, I wish they had more of a straight leg

    ReplyDelete
  33. I, too, fondly recall J Crew's underwear. Well constructed, good cotton. Sigh... wish I'd bought more when they cleared out.

I can't find the comment, but someone in the past couple of weeks mentioned the underwear in stores and it was a collaboration item if I recall although I can't remember the brand.

Also, the post about the wedding store also mentions lingerie.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Karen--I have the skimmer pants and as I'm always a 0 in J. Crew pants, tried those on. They were huge and like hammer pants like you said! The SA then brought me a 00 (a size that is completely foreign to me) and those happened to fit. I'm wondering if they run large?

Conster-it really depends on the style but I just got a pair of skinny jeans from there size 27 (I'm a 26 in J. Crew). I find their jeans to be rather low waisted and the skinny/matchstick jeans I got were SKINNY, as in almost leggings so sizing up was worth it for comfort too. Hope this helps!

  36. Returns for me too, a big bunch at that. I have scored a pair of distressed repaired matchsticks down to $19.99 from $148. They are awesome, highly recommend.

  37. OT: I know that a lot of JCAs seem to be looking for Penelope shoes. A pair of size 7 peeptoes is up on eBay, item 150451757174. Not my listing--I saw it when I was browsing and wanted to mention it because the listing doesn't include the name of the style, so if you have a search set up for "Penelope" the search wouldn't have caught this item.

  39. Since Hexicon opened the ebay topic, there is an abstract rose dress listed in size 8 that may interest some people here. Not my listing and unfortunately, not my size or I would be bidding and not spreading the news, hehe. ;) Item number is 180516405565.

  40. Thank you- xoxo - it looks fab but I didn't notice where she commented on the fit.
I think I'll have leave her a comment and find out.

  41. Hi - stopped by Lake Grove, NY B&M today. Quite a few sunshine peony skirts $64.99 in size 0, 4, 6, 8, and 12. A whole bunch of pastiche skirts too. Lots of merino no-closure cardigan in black, grey and beige. Also lots of double breasted merino cardigans in black.

I mainly went in to look at the linen-cotton tees - not impressed. The new plain v-neck tees look nice though, but I will wait for sale instead of paying $29.99 each.

  42. I'm not too familiar with product/style names, sorry!

But I went to the Cambridge Side Galleria Mall J Crew in Cambridge, Massachusetts and there were THREE wall shelves of sale items, one of which was an entire wall of just knit/graphic tees with two round tables full of MORE tees ranging from $29.99-19.99, two rolling racks of pants with belts, and another smaller rack with tees/shirts and a sign that says All $14.99! And another smaller rack of sale summer dresses. Not to mention three vases filled to the brim with discounted headbands $9.99-4.99!

This was only my first time going there because the mall attracts clientele that are not of the J Crew type, I was surprised the store was still open! But I had dinner nearby and found clearance section mecca.. seriously! It was mostly tees, which I am not the biggest fan of but still worth hopping over once in a while!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I made returns. The same rack of sad tees is still on sale. It's actually multiple racks. A smattering of skirts and cardis.

OT, I missed the 20% off Stella and Dot that Gigi posted on her blog. Does anyone know of another code?

  49. I have a coupon code from my catalog that expires today. I was holding on to it, but decided not to get anything.

It's for 20% of any order online (no minimum!)

I'm assuming it will work for someone else. If you want it, email me at casveum at gmail. First email gets it!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks, ISF. It's a pencil skirt, correct? I'm excited to get it. The print has some dark grey or black in it, which fits my wardrobe well.
