J.Crew Email: Jenna's picks

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Marietta, who let us know about J.Crew's most recent email, which showcases all of Jenna Lyons' picks for the latest catalog. Click here to view all the items selected.

The theme for these picks are:
July Begs For Cool Comfort– so I'm reaching for easy navy and white pieces that have a nautical bent without being too obvious (think unexpected sparkle and out-of-the-blue pairings) anchored by seasonless, time-and-again favorites.
J.Crew is also letting customers know about their latest promotion. Open a J.Crew Credit Card and get 20% off your first purchase. This offer expires 7/4/10.

What are your thoughts on the items selected? Do you like the color palette? Which items would have made your top picks of new arrivals that you are loving this month?

  1. Yipes, it might be the first time I'm not feeling any of Jenna's picks! :-)

  2. I love the stripey romper but I'm too old for it.

  3. I just got the cream colored oxfords and they are to die for! The leather is so soft and buttery, and the detailing is exquisite. But how to wear them? I know the kids are wearing them with skirts and shorts, but I'm thinking that's too young for me--I'll probably wear them with canvas cargo pants, full-legged white trousers, or jeans.

  4. I'm not feeling Jenna's picks, as usual, but I do love navy and white for summer. I need to shop my closet for a navy/white nautical themed clothes cluster.

  5. I like the belt and would definitely wear the romper if I were younger, but I don't really care too much for her other picks.

  6. I have both the belt and the striped sequin boatneck tee. I love them. The striped tee, belt go great with my white denim jeans. I don't like the Madewell shoes though.

  7. A few of these "picks" have been around a while - even in the summer sale. The tank/cami, lower right corner, is silk - and maybe somewhere in this country silk is comfortable in July, but not me, where I spend time at the Jersey shore and in Virginia. The stripes are a pretty standard summer staple. This email was deleted pronto.

  8. Poppy, I have been collecting oxfords and brogues for years, an obsession. They look great with rolled up jeans. I like them with tailored short pants, especially if they are sort of narrow and cuffed (gap has some great ones on sale) but wide and short pants are nice too. I wear white or light ones with black tights and skirts in the winter for a loud look --I live in California so white works past labor day ;-)
have fun and enjoy the comfort...

  9. Poppy- did you get the JCrew or the Madewell version of oxfords (and for all I know, they could be the same.)

I love oxfords! and want a pair.

Are the ones you have well made, good sole, good stitching, durable leather, etc?

    TIA!

(I ordered/returned some mocs from JCrew, really unimpressed with the workmanship and poor quality of materials.)

  10. My daughter and I are rocking the Essie nailpolishes. I was wanting at least one neon *anything* and the pink shade is just bright enough for me!

  11. Love the romper but I don't know if I'd be able to wear it next year without looking dated. :(
