Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING & SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Have any of you seen the "Cotton Check shirt" (style #23050) in vintage navy in stores recently? I'm trying to track one down, so if you happen across one, would you please consider placing it on hold or shooting me an email to let me know where it is? My first choice would be a size 10 but I'd consider an 8 o 12 as well. Thanks!

  8. Has anyone tried on or purchased the cropped seersucker zipper pants that are on sale now? I am intrigued, but not sure. I would order in a size 10.

    Thanks!

  9. I wish I could lie and say I wouldn't go in, but of course I will. Can't help it! Will report back if I see anything aside from racks and racks of sale tees...

Also wanted to put in a shameless plug for my own sale ... so so so much to list so in desperation I turned to eBay -- I'm fed up with clothes overflowing from every closet, so I'm on a marathon listing spree on eBay this week. Nearly everything is $20 or less and shipping is free on all items; it breaks my heart because this stuff cost me soooooo much but I'm just fed up.

Pls help me un-stuff my closets! Sizes run anywhere from 4 to 12, it's been an odd few years weight-wise. ;-) Check out my auctions under username mmehamill. Most of my items are from past seasons - who knows, maybe you will pick up an oldie-but-goodie you've been seeking!

(BTW I will understand if this post gets deleted. I'm just manic to get rid of this stuff without having to donate it all.)

  12. does anyone know if the Shirred Racerback Gown is the same price in stores as online? I'll be going to a B&M next week...

  13. I went to the B&M in Durham, NC last night and while there are a few new arrivals nothing really stands out. The sale area is a mess with t-shirts and sweaters that don't seem to be moving from the past few weeks.

  14. Passing on the following note from a fellow JCA. Nancy shares the following:

I was going to post in the Seek & Find post, but I can't figure out the google account and OpenId part, but I wanted to let people know that the store at Brea mall (CA) is closing as of the 25th. Sale items are an extra 50% off.

Thanks Nancy for letting us know! 50% off is an amazing sale!!! :)

  15. I was at my B&M last night and there was no extra % off sale items. I also didn't see any of the items previous posters were looking for.

gigiofca--thanks for linking for me, you beat me to it ;)

marshmallowsoup-i love the cropped seersucker pants. they run true to size and are light and comfy, perfect to wear to work during the summer.

  16. I visited my local crewlet yesterday and got some great deals!

I bought the crewlet version of the "surf blossom shell" (it's the same bright yellow silk, but much plainer; scoop neck instead of v-neck, w/o all those pretty ruffles/flowers) for $28 with my 15% student discount.

Having missed out on the "minnie pant" boom, I checked out the "winnie pant" :P I've read some negative things about the quality of this version, but at $34, I couldn't be dissuaded. I tried on the black ones in an 8 regular, and the fit was fantastic! It hit right at my ankles (I'm 5'1"!!) and the rise was just right (I feel like the b&m ones were a bit low?? Also, they're too long for me; I'd have to order the petite minnies. Oh, not to mention, the twill b&m ones gave me weird cottage cheese thighs--yuck.).

The denim "winnie pant" had zippers at the ankles (not for everyone, I know). The fit was so great for me that I had to get them, even at the overpriced $63. These are by far the best skinny jeans I've purchased! (Note: also a regular 8, they hit at my ankles)

Lastly, I bought a "silk frances cami" knock-off (it looks exactly like the retail one) in a pretty jewel-tone purple color for $33. What a steal (considering the retail one goes for about $60)! This one speaks for itself; I love the flat-laying ruffles in the front paired under a jackie cardigan.

I also saw a few nice statement necklaces at the crewlet: a beautiful twisted faux-pearl one (I'm not sure how much it was, but it was definitely on sale... maybe around $36?) and a gunmetal/crystal cluster statement necklace, also on sale.

All-in-all, I'd say go check it out this weekend if you're looking for some similar older items from the b&m!

  17. Come on, man. Extra 30 has GOT to be in the offing, or we're all going to drown in ruffly / appliqued tees! Right?

  18. Elaine: Oh that would be so lovely! I'm on the fence about ordering the Zafina skirt now or later. I feel *some* kind of better promo in the air...

  19. I dropped in to make some returns from the 20% & FS promo - glanced at sale section, which was *packed* with the same old ratty tees that have been straining shelves for weeks, plus lots of shorts... no extra % off. Picked up the July catalogue. I don't pay much attention to summer items because they don't interest me much, so I couldn't tell if anything new was out - but put it this way: Nothing caught my eye and made me want to stop & look closer.

Probably won't be interested in anything again until fall items start appearing, but since it's 89 degrees here today, all that really interests me is air conditioning, teehee.

  20. I went last night with my returns and nothing new caught my eye. I was proud of walking out with only Jaipur perfect shirt that i picked up for $29.99 only to return the one I got last week for $49.99.
The sale section was HUGE with bunch of t shirts, shorts, button downs, few flower patterned pencil skirts, chinos and skimmer pants in all colors, some nice cuffed summer trousers that I cannot identify, Metro, Andre and some strapless dresses, bunch of cardigans and other sweaters. In shoe section flip flops for $6.99, several shelves of Natalia flats in all sizes and colors and quite a few of 'more coverage' sandals.

  21. Would love to hear opinions on the Haya sweatshirts and the rip-stop field jacket if anyone has tried or seen IRL.

    TIA

  22. OT, but I tried the Fleurette pencil skirt on and it really runs small. I think Dina noted this on her blog. I am always a 4 in J. Crew pencil skirts, and I definitely needed a 6 in this. Pretty print, really liked it (definitely wrinkle prone).

  24. Thanks for the info about the seersucker plants. I tried them on at the Cambridgeside Galleria store and they didn't end up quite working, but wanted to report they were ten dollars cheaper there than online.

  25. Xoxo : About the Ristop Jacket, I tried it in my usual size 2 and it fit true to size. The colors are just like they are on the website. The zipper details on the jacket seemed quite prominent to me IRL, but that could be me since I would rather have the jacket without those zippers above each pocket. It was due the same reason that I did not end up buying the jacket. The fabric is really soft and flattering. Hope this helps :)

  26. I purchased the fiesta tunic in black plum, (on sale for $49.99 ... i thought this was a new arrival), studded tunic in creme for $29.99 and a pair of the black pair of skinny zipper jeans $19.99 ... lots of tee shirts, skimmer pants, scout chinos on sale. I was not that impressed with the new arrivals. Penn Square Mall Oklahoma City.

  27. Just got back from my local B&M (Carmel CA). What I found were…

Watercolor Garden Cardigan $24.99 (at least 10 cardigans, in size S, M, L)
Kelsey ruffle top $29.99 (in azalea, navy blue, and light gray)
Coralie cami (mink, not wild mushroom sold online sales) $49.99

I should have waited to buy a garden cardigan… today I just bought Gingham Brigitte shorts.

This is the last report from Carmel CA shop as I will move to Seattle next Thursday. I love this cozy little shop. Thank you Carmel shop!

  28. Okha, thanks for the advice on the ripstop jacket. I don't mind the zippers but would prefer a more neutral color. I do like me some J.Crew ripstop though, so I will probably bite on this in the green and hope that it is a subtle shade.
