J.Crew Video: Handbag's Day In Rome

I so want to be on holiday in Italy right now...

I can't believe I am writing this, but I am jealous of a handbag. I mean, it has a better vacation than I will this summer. ;)

  1. They make their uptowner tote (that's what it's called IIRC) look so much nicer than it is IRL. I have it in a pretty bronzy tan color. It's just an unlined, open-top leather tote bag. It's too shapeless and open to use as a handbag and too small to use as a tote. Rather useless, actually.

  2. I would love to be in Rome, too, but not with that tote. It looks like it would be too easy for a pickpocket to grab stuff from!

  3. I have that tote in that exact lemon yellow! I love it - mine went on a cruise a few years ago- but I think I'll make it write a report on its adventures in Rome!

  4. Alexis- I wouldn't recommend Rome in summer. I went last year in the beginning of August and was uncomfortable until about 6 P.M. each night! Although if you like the heat, it's very beautiful with all the gardens and fountains. :)

  5. I'm heading to Italy this summer (belated honeymoon! We got married this October but I am a professor so we had to plan it around the semesters) and while I am planning to have my suitcase chock-full of J.Crew but I agree with SallyO - totes are really easy to both swips and pickpocket from. I'm planning to use this crossbody hobo I got in Japan and my kate spade raspeberry mini Brennan - it's a small crossbody that is great as a tiny purse for the essentials.

  6. I own this bag, and have had it since it came out. I LOVE everything about it, sturdy, classically prep, clean-lines, bright color, ect.

  7. I have the Uptown tote in aqua and love it. I'm one that likes the unlined Borge Garveri bags with soft suede interior and the Uptown is no exception. It is especially handy as a shopper because the snaps let you start the day with it small and then you can open it large by the time you are heading home with all your loot, although it won't hold much for packages, like a shoebox. I've often thought of buying one for my Mom, if they bring it back. Agree with others though, it's not one to use as a tourist.
