Will JCrew Online Be Updated With New Arrivals?

Update (as of 2PM): It does not seem like the website will show any new arrivals. It may happen next week like the personal shopper mentioned in the "Quick Note From A J.Crew Personal Shopper" post. I apologize for getting everyone's hopes up. :(
* * * * *
"Thanks!" to J.Crew Guy In Canada who shared with us some new info that he received by his personal shopper: that J.Crew's new September styles should be up some time this morning (Aug 22nd) on their website.

This is fantastic news! First, brick & mortar stores are getting new styles on the sales floor (refer to "Quick Note From A J.Crew Personal Shopper" post) and now the website. I am very excited to check out the website this morning to see if there are new items. :)

Are you planning to check on the new September styles online? Are you planning to check them out in stores too? Are there any new items or styles that you are lusting for already?

  1. Most definitely and I will also be traveling (and I say "traveling" bc its 2 hours away) to the nearest J.Crew on Saturday. I actually plan on calling tomorrow to see what new styles they will have out on the floor. Thanks for the website update info. I am super excited and am crossing my fingers we will see some new J.Crew very soon!

  2. Mary Ellen: 2 hours away is very far- You are a true J.Crew Aficionada! :) Please let us know if you see any new September items at the store that are fantastic! :)

  3. i know the new mags. came into j.crews two days ago-- i work there, and lets just say i will not be getting a pay check this month.

  4. I got my catalogue today and can't wait to see some of the new styles online. There are 2 new long sleeve silk blouses that look like they could be winners. Hopefully they'll be updating the sale section with some August items, too.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I spoke with one of the SMs at my b&m today on the phone and she was Ooing and awing over all the new items that came in. I asked isn't a lot of it the same as August? And she replied "Yeah, but it's still so pretty. And we got a lot of coats."

I must say while I am not as excited about this new roll-out as I usually am, she still did peak my interest...like the true jcrew addict I am, I will be going in tomorrow. :)

  6. I am SO glad the new merchadise will be online to look at! I still have not received my September catalog, I can't get to my b&m anytime soon, and I am really tired of seeing the same things on the website anytime I go on it, so new additions will be FABULOUS! Let's hope they have some really *to die for* pieces! :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. I wish I could go to the stores to see them, I live too far away to get to one.

After reviewing the Sept. catalog there is nothing that stood out, however I love the Spring-Summer buying season more.

  8. Good morning, all -

I get SO sick of seeing the same picture on the main page... this happens to me every month! Last month it was the infamous Penelope heels, now I'm like, "If I have to see this chick in the yellow coat one more time..."

I have an appointment with a PS in my B&M this morning. Woohoo! I'm going with a list. It's my birthday, so maybe I'll be able to get some good deals out of them. Here's hoping! Will definitely report back - I'm hoping that they have some of those patent leather totes so I can see them in person.

  9. silver_lining: I completely agree! Btw...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. happy bday silver lining and happy shopping! I was in the store yesterday, no new catalog. Wool ecoles are out, wool pencil skirts, tartine, new eliz halter, more versions of those sparkley sweaters, wool pants like the university ones from last year but not as nice I think...some more dresses. I agree, nothing was a big WOW, maybe once I see it on line or in the catalog. Also puffer vests, how many years have we seen those???

    ReplyDelete
  11. I am so excited to see the new fall line. I am going to a smaller B&M tomorrow and I have an appointment with a personal shopper next wednesday and the larger store in my area. I'm hoping to find some deals on the Aug stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Happy Birthday Silver_lining! Mine was a few weeks ago and I got to go shopping with a personal shopper in Chicago! Have fun, I did!

I bought the "new" elizabeth halter and I have to say I LOVE IT! I would not have tried it on w/o FFM's recommendation because it looks weird on the hanger but its one of those things that just looks so beautiful on. My husband who hates anything with a ruffle really likes it too.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm going to try on the new denim pencil skirt in a few hours. Love it in the catalog with the navy sweater.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You know what I love?? that split second where the site takes a moment to load and then when it finally does - a new homepage!! I'm getting a little light=headed just thinking about it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Happy Birthday SILVER LINING!!!!

Y'all Know me I am going to be checking it out online AND in stores. And once I get to a store I will be sure to report back for all of you who live far away from the stores.

I am bummed I didn't get the catalog. But I know from being in the store yesterday we are going to see lots of new items. Many of which looked very cool... I dont know if I would wear all of them, but that doesn't mean I didnt like them.

I did see new colors for the tartine and one with matalic thread in it... I saw lots of new fabrics and a new jacket that I bet people will love (think Polka Dot San Telmo updated in a leopard print and with a double breast for fall).

    ReplyDelete
  16. pink in a sea of blue: I love the denim skirt with the blue sweater in the catalog too. I bought the skirt - the sweater isn't available online in navy though!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Can't get jcrew.com to load at the moment...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anon: maybe there are reloading it now with all the new items....

Oh this time of month always makes me so giddy!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I went to a retail store and a factory store yesterday, and they were just getting the new stuff out in the retail store. It was a mess!

I learned a couple of things in the factory store: 1. The student discount does work there now. (Sorry I said it didn't work before! It never used to work.) 2. After making a purchase I tried to make a payment on my J. Crew card, and the cashier advised me not to because I wouldn't get any reward points for my purchase if I did. She said that the points take 24 hours to process, so if you make a payment within 24 hours of making a purchase, it cancels out the purchase. Does anyone know if this is true? I hope it's not!

    ReplyDelete
  20. MusthaveJcrew: Thanks for the tip on the new Elizabeth. I have the same thoughts - it doesn't impress me at all on the hanger! I guess I'll try it on today when I go visit a B&M Jcrew. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. beachbum - how was the j.crew factory store? Did they have fall items out or still summer sale? I like the outlet for basics like tee shirts and tank tops (I've had no shrinkage issues yet) and sometimes you come across nice sweaters. Last year during the fall I bought four sweaters, two of which shrank horribly and the other two I will still be wearing this year.

    ReplyDelete
  22. MusthaveJcrew: Just curious, what color of the new Elizabeth did you buy?

    ReplyDelete
  23. happy birthday silver_lining!

I'm going to a couple of stores this weekend - am doing a bunch of errands, and there just happen to be jcrews at all of them...:)

I can't wait for the new items, but since I'm going to so many stores, does any one want me to keep my eyes open for anything, especially sale items? I will take a list...:)

    ReplyDelete
  24. ugh the website's down again!

    ReplyDelete
  25. kater: I am curious about whether the belle skirt is actually on sale. I LOVE it in buttercup and have been toying with ordering it, but if it's on sale then obviously I'd like to get the sale price ;) Would you mind keeping an eye out?

    ReplyDelete
  26. blumre: The leopard jacket you're talking about is the Snow-Leopard Simone Peacoat for $260. natedac has it listed here for $325.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SILVER LINING!!! I hope you find tons of great things on your b'day visit!!! I can't wait to hear!

    ReplyDelete
  27. michelle, I will definitely look for you! Not a problem. I love the belle skirt (got it in dark fog last weekend) so will totally be happy to enable you on that one!

    ReplyDelete
  28. michelle: my b&m had the buttercup belle on sale for 69.99 plus 30% off. Don't know what sizes they have though. If you want to give it a try it's Southlake, Tx 817-416-1098.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks kater and weab :) Now I am thinking that maybe I should call KOP to see if they have the Belle on sale ... it's not close, but I would make the trip if it would save shipping.

Does anyone know if this skirt also new for fall? I think I like it, but I'd like to see it in person. If they do have it in the store, I am sure it's at least half of what natedac is charging ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. michelle, i saw that yesterday, I think it was about $128. It looked to me like it could be really pretty or really bad on...who knows! it's def part of the new collection though

    ReplyDelete
  31. FYI natedac also has pics of the new Elizabeth halter and some other new for fall pieces if you are curious and need a fix before the website gets updated :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes michelle! that skirt is brand new for fall. they also have that fabric in a gorgeous strapless dress design and they have also used it in a version of the Wool flannel watercolor floral dress.

    Thanks Weab for that info.

    ReplyDelete
  33. katherined - they did have some fall stuff - argyle sweaters, cable cardigans, etc. Also some coats that I didn't really look at too closely (it's too warm here in Florida). There actually wasn't too much summer sale left, although I did pick up some dresses.

They had an odd assortment of old retail styles made in different materials for the factory store, e.g., Emilia blouse, Laurel ruffle blouse, Bella jacket. I contemplated a herringbone Bella (I missed the Bella last year), but I ended up skipping it because the quality was lower than that of a retail store and the price was the same. (I can get a new Ecole now for less.)

    ReplyDelete
  34. caw: Thanks! That was exactly my feeling when I saw it - it go really well or really NOT well, haha. I thought this print in the new Elizabeth was pretty though, and I can't wait to try it on :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Blumre: Thanks! I am so anxious to get into the store and look at all the new prints! I hadn't planned to go til next Friday, but I might not make it til then ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. beachbum: thanks! I agree about the jacket - that's something I'd want to buy in the regular J.Crew to get the higher quality version. I know what you mean about the old retail styles - this spring I bought a 3/4 sleeve cardigan in a green flower print that I SWORE I saw the previous spring in the regular J.Crew. My sister has a beach dress from the outlet, and it looks exactly the same as the regular ones.

Yesterday at my local J.Crew I saw this sweater:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/J-CREW-STAR-TAFETTA-TIE-CARDIGAN-GRAY-TAN-XS-S-M-L-F08_W0QQitemZ360081315921QQihZ023QQcategoryZ63866QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And that "abstract" dress is soooooo pretty!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. michelle-i like the looks of that blouse too! very pretty.
Oh yea, they also had a new cash sweater that reminded me of the empire waist one from last year. there were TONS. Again, I was under impressed for now...

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't know what I am anticipating more, Obama announcing his running mate or jcrew updating their website...which will happen first?

    ReplyDelete
  39. caw: me too! I think I need to see the items IRL to get excited about it. The majority of the cat is the same as august...just a handful of new standout pieces.. However, I'm still refreshing the crew site every 5 minutes and planning on visiting the b&m today. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. haha caw: yes the suspense is killing me!

    ReplyDelete
  41. It had slowed a minute ago and I got all excited. No such luck. Such a productive day at work I am having!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah, the kids and I had planned on going to church this morning but what am I doing instead??? Camped out in front of the computer...What a sinner I am!!! First evidence disposal and now THIS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. silver_lining - Happy Birthday!

It's 7:41a PST and I don't see an update on the website. Harumphf.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I looked at the various items people listed and I do not care for any of the prints at all....Really not pretty in my book...

I am hoping something excites me soon. Really disappointed in the new fall stuff. Boring colors too---I have enough basic colors and that gold color is awful.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Last month someone said the new stuff would be out online and if I remember correctly it didn't come out until a day or two later and this person was a JCrew employee that wrote in....I wouldn't waste my day...do something productive b/c it could be a long wait:)

    ReplyDelete
  46. weab-ha ha ha, at least you got your priorities straight! at least you haven't left the kids, ha ha

    ReplyDelete
  47. You know I suddenly started thinking what if that PS was wrong and the update won't be today??? What a waste of a day this will end up being!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Agree that it will probably be next week, Thursday when the site is updated. That's how it was before the downgrade - last Thursday of the month they updated the homepage and added new arrivals.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hahah caw! so true! My youngest said this morning that he can't wait to do his "job" at j crew. At first I couldn't figure out what he was talking about and then he explained to me that when I'm trying things on the SA's keep him occupied by having him restock the fridge with water bottles...I have seriously reunited my poor children!!! :0

    ReplyDelete
  50. Happy Birthday Silver Lining! Cannot wait for the new items online as I have yet to receive the September catalog! :(

    ReplyDelete
  51. Molly: that's right, I think I remember jumping the gun like this last month too.

    ReplyDelete
  52. NY0311, I just bought the new Elizabeth in Navy. I sized down so it was more fitted. Seriously, I really didn't like it on the hanger but I tried and its one of my favoite shirts. I plan on getting more colors once they go on sale!

    ReplyDelete
  53. weab, that is the funniest thing ever! His job at jcrew, I love it! Don't worry, I think he will grow up to be well adjusted and quite patient (and potentially work for poland spring!)

    ReplyDelete
  54. weab: That is seriously the cutest thing I've ever heard of!!! Every time we visit the mall my younger sister says "Oh no! You guys are going to spend three hours in J.Crew!"

    ReplyDelete
  55. weab-can he come to my store? the water is always WARM, it drives me nuts!

    ReplyDelete
  56. You know something's up when we're relying on someone on ebay for new J.Crew items. *one eyebrow lift*

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, silver_lining! =)

    ReplyDelete
  57. katherined: That's so funny! These poor kids have us TOTALLY figured out!!! My little one is 5 and he is already scarred for life!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. caw: I'm seriously CRACKING UP!!! I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. weab: Your little boy is adorable! I can't wait to corrupt my lil' niece and nephew with all things J.Crew. Bwahahahaha....

    ReplyDelete
  60. I am laughing too! I just did a visual-how old is he btw?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Weab: my younger sister is easily pacified - she has to sit patiently while we're in J.Crew, and we have to wait outside while she goes into Hollister.

    ReplyDelete
  62. so cute!!! i should get my fiance to do a job at jcrew, he's always so impatient and has energy to burn!

    ReplyDelete
  63. kathrined: I don't blame you guys for not going inside of Hollister with your little sister. Every time I walk by that store (and Abercrombie) the strong stench of cologne is always wafting out of it. I think I would pass out if I went in there!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ashley: I know what you mean, and I also know why - one time, my sister saw an employee spraying all the clothes with "Cologne spray: spray every three inches." EW EW! We try to persuade her to shop elsewhere, but it's not "cool".

    ReplyDelete
  65. Silver Lining: Happy Birthday! I hope it's great!

Blumre: thanks for letting us live vicariously through your descriptions. I bet your BG dress is lovely. Your grandmother sounds pretty cool.

Did the person who bought the Citrus Paisley jacket ever get it? How did it fit?

    ReplyDelete
  66. mekiki: you should take a look as lisli... their price point is only a little higher than J.Crew and they make incredible stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hi girls! My first time posting... Alexix, I ADORE your blog - I seriously check it about 20 times a day:)

My friend was in a B&M the other day and mentioned a new Elizabeth halter and I thought, no, it can't be! So I'm excited to finally see it. I have it in black and love it. Has anyone bought top that's in the sale section? I think I might really love this top, but I'd be so disappointed to order it and end up hating the fit. It looks like it could be a little on the cropped site. And I know everyone said they're doing an extra 30% off in the store, but does anyone know of an extra 30 coupon code? I just can't quite bring myself to pay $70 for that top.... Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Too bad--I was looking forward to new stuff today even though I'm not buying anything from jcrew.com. But, I did get a great deal on an espresso wool sheath on ebay!

    ReplyDelete

  70. question for you ladies - since the B&M sale sections are 30% off, is it possible to order a website sale item and call up to have it discounted 30%, regardless of whether it's actually on-sale at a particular B&M store? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Blumre: I did check out some opf the Lisli and I really like it. Simple but with a little twist--I really like that look.

CAW: I wish I could be more excited about Obama, but I don't think he'll win. Most people are still to racist (and I live in a pretty liberal state!). Don't worry, I'll vote for him, but I'm not optimistic. The Supreme Court will be lost for years and years. (Sorry to get so political folks, I just couldn't hold it in any longer.)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I posted pics of the New Elizabeth Halter in Rhubarb here on the blog a couple weeks ago Click Here . I purchased it along with the Jackie in Honey Glaze to wear over it. It's much more flattering on a person than it is on the hanger, too. I believe it is going to be an in store only item, at least that's what a rep told jcrewjunkie, so she ordered it from my store in Orlando. :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. katherined and ashley: I always wondered how the employees of the stores could stand it. Strong scents always give me a headache and when I walk by, it's like I'm being assaulted by that cologne! So to work there for hours on end would be torture for me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. The printed Elizabeth that Natedac has listed is pretty...I WISH they would make an Elizabeth in the Watercolor Floral print in Aged Cognac (green camo). That would be absolutely FABULOUS!!! :)

megan: what top in the sale section are you referring to?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Ugh the sale site hasnt even been updated yet! blah

    ReplyDelete
  76. FFM: The Quincy top - http://www.jcrew.com/browse/single_product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441767494&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302023901&bmUID=1219421394185.

I love the new Elizabeth! Thanks for posting on your blog, FFM.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I am in LUST with the prints! Much thanks for the links. I've bought on ebay from natedac before and he/she ships super fast and seems to get things faster than anyone else I know! :-) What can I say? I'm as impatient as everyone here!!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. ffm: the new elizabeth is in the Sept. catalog. It's called the Lydia for $88. But the rhubarb color you have is not shown as one of the colors. Maybe that color is in-store only. The cat shows Bright Saffron, Ivory, Orange, Brilliant Orange (also called Watercolor Garden, the printed one for $110) Plum and bright peacock. I saw it in my store in a Slate color but this color is also not shown in the cat.

    ReplyDelete
  79. weab: I saw all the colors you mentioned in the store except for the printed one...so then it appears as if Slate and Rhubarb are *instore only*, but all other colors will be available online...what do you think? :) Thanks for the info, btw!

    ReplyDelete
  80. ffm: that would be my guess. btw, I looked at natedac's stuff again and it looks like it's actually "dark fog" not "slate" sorry.

Cindy (Tx): I'm in Tx too! I'm glad you found some great items with him but I still couldn't justify paying so much more for items that I can buy directly from the retailer if I just wait a day or two.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Aww, thanks all! I've really grown to love our little community! <3

Just got back from my B&M and I think I did pretty good! I think I was channeling the Aficionadas in my dressing room. :)

My store had pretty much all of their Fall II merchandise - herringbone university pants, tartine cardigans, lots of Ecole jackets. I had told my PS that I was interested particularly in the Watson pants and the Lydia (ie, "New Elizabeth") halters beforehand, so they were all ready for me when I got there. After about an hour and a half, I ended up with the following:

City-Fit Watson Pants in Dark Slate - perfect for fall. I've never done a cuffed trouser before, but these fit perfectly, and are a great neutral. They're very similar in fabric/fit to last year's Madison pant. They do have a tab front that sticks out a teeney bit, but it didn't bother me.

Lydia halter in Dark Indigo - I am SO GLAD that I held off on purchasing an Elizabeth. I think this is much better for my style. Absolutely gorgeous, and definitely "full" - I went with an XS, but could have probably done an XXS if it was offered. I really couldn't decide between this and Ivory. I may go back for an ivory at another point (it's likely my sister will give me a JC gift card today!).

Jackie cardigan in Honey Glaze - FFM, I am so glad I gave this color a try. It is very "fall", and also looks great with the Lydia halter. The best part is that my PS let me exchange my recently purchased Jackie in sour lemon (which was just, not a flattering color for me) for it. He rocks!

5-pocket trouser jean in clean rinse wash - LOVE LOVE LOVE these! They are incredibly flattering and can definitely be dressed up or down. They are a dark wash, but not as thick as the antique wash trouser jeans I got last year, so maybe I won't have issues with dye transfer. I told me PS if it happens again I'm coming to the store and rubbing my blue hands all over the place! ;)

Belle skirt in Buttercup - This is incredibly pretty, and versatile. It kind of has a crinkly texture (the cotton taffeta) which makes me think of like, snow pants. Definitely a good fall to winter piece - I may even brave this with some dark tights!

That's my haul - after the 20% PS discount, and my rewards card and a gift card I only ended up spending about $50, so I'm quite pleased. They didn't have the patent leather totes at my store (boo!) but I may try to track one down eventually.

I also picked up a copy of the new catalog... I personally love it. I like the ones when they go on location, and I'm loving that dusty rose/tulip color that they're starting to use. I've only flipped through it once, but I may like it better than the August one.

They had the Cheshire-looking sweater at my store - cute concept, but the yarn was already kinda ratty looking. And I tried on a dream tie cardigan, and one of the ties just came off right in my hand! The thicker sweaters looked kind of hit-or-miss... if they already look kind of worn in the store, what will they look like by Thanksgiving? The Ecole didn't really work out for me either - my PS put one out for me with the Lydia blouse, and I felt too much like Prince in Purple Rain! Not my kind of look.

Thanks for reading my "novel" - I will be eagerly stalking the website for new arrivals as well! :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Haha, my husband calls me Prince in a few of my outfits - I've even returned a few because of that comment. Polka Dot San Telmo is one.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Weab: I know what you mean! He/she has got the best of the best...so addictive to look! She certainly has an eye out for the good things. I just ordered the simone from her, as well as the silk black/tan circle dress in 6. :-) Good thing, because I don't want to go to the drycleaners next week LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  84. silver lining: Sounds like you did great! I'm so anxious to check it out that I'm headed there right now!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Megan: I got the Quincy top, and I really like it. I was worried it would be kind of short, but it's not at all. I ordered my usual size for those type of J. Crew shirts, and it was pretty true to size. I think it will look cute under cardigans for late summer/early fall.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Silver lining: thanks for the detailed review! I can't wait to get the new catalog - I especially love the on-location ones. It's much more relaxing to flip through the pages than to click obsessively on the website =)

    ReplyDelete
  87. cindy: Great pieces! That dress isn't in the cat. but looks so cute! The Simone is in though. Did you know that Jcrew is selling it for $260? It's a great looking jacket, definitely a statement piece!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Silver_lining: you bought most of the things I just did!

Another item I purchased that I liked better on then on the hanger is the Silk Marcella Blouse. My PS paired it with the worn out jeans with the rips and it looks so cool! I bought the ivory.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Weab: Oh, yes, I mean the simone jacket and the black dress. :-) I've bought so much from her that she gives me a good discount, so it's not far off from that price. I'm a happy Texan camper this weekend!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. The blasted site is down again. Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I just posted a review of the Simone on my own blog this morning. (Alexis, let me know if you want me to stop posting links!)

    http://40isthenew29.blogspot.com/

In all, the Simone is nice, but not sure 250 is the right price. Seems a little high. It's not lined, but all the seams on the interior are bound, giving it a very nice look.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I have to take the minority opinion on the Elizabeth and Lydia blouses. I tried on both in the store, and the big ruffles all around the neck made me feel like a clown. Not for me. Guess I like more understated blouses?

    ReplyDelete
  93. silver lining, your purchases sounds great- I like your reveiw and that you weeded out the bad stuff and found some great pieces. I lived vicariously for one moment!

  94. cass: I'm with you on the blouse. I also tried it on and it just wasn't my style. It was also a "leave it" for my mom who is a lot more formal and over-the-top in her style. The clown factor was a little too high for both of us. That's not to say it wouldn't look amazing on the right people. I'm sure ffm (et al.) wears it beautifully!

    ReplyDelete
  95. megan: I love the Quincy top! I will consider purchasing it if it gets marked down further...I say go for it, especially if you can get the extra discount! :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. silver_lining: FABULOUS purchases! I can't wait to see the Lydia you bought, either! Congratulations! :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. Ooh, I really like the new Elizabeth or Lydia or whatever it's called halter in the floral print. I think it's the same shirt that is styled with the Donegal Tweed Ecole jacket on the website.

Isaac Mizrahi for Target has a shrunken-down version of this print on a cardigan and a cute mini sweater dress.

    ReplyDelete
  98. cass and weab: I absolutely ADORE the Elizabeth Halter...the old one and the new one. I have gotten tons of compliments everytime I have worn my Navy one, too. I don't feel the *clown factor* when I'm wearing it, either, and I love how the new one can be worn with the Jackie Cardigans.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Cass - was the "old" Elizabeth marked down? I am craving one in black but am wondering if the new ruffle top means the Elizabeth will go on sale. . .

    ReplyDelete
  100. the new arrivals should be fantastic... i did the 20% off with personal shopper discount and the PS brought stuff out for me to try on from the back room stock. these are items that i have yet to see in stores (on display) or online or in the catalog. and just OT, since i went in for the appt. with my fiance, who was looking for a suit, and i was purchasing about $1000+ worth of clothing, the PS let us use the 20% discount on sale items and items that they ordered through the red phone for us. overall, i found the PS very helpful and fun to shop with!

    ReplyDelete
  101. marison, the last i saw, the "old" Elizabeth was not on sale. maybe that will change now that they are bringing in more new merch.

weab, yes, i like some tops with ruffles, just not *fully* surrounding the neck. If its ruffles on a low v-neck or just on the back part of the collar (sort of like the bella), it would work for me. ffm, i'm sure you pull it off. just a matter of personal preference.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I tried on the new Elizabeth....wouldn't be caught dead it that top! I guess I am in the minority or the only one willing to speak up but I think the top is hideous:( and I love ruffles just not in a bunch around my neck....

    ReplyDelete
  103. Weab - I am laughing so hard right now about your kids restocking @ J Crew. That is comedy. And the typo was Freudian...you & the tykes will be 'reunited' with J Crew soon. :-)

katherined - Natedac's prices are atrociously ridiculous. How much was the sweater in the store? I LOVE that sweater!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Silver lining: thanks so much for your review of the watson pant. how does the sizing work on it? Size up or down or it is true to size?
It sounds like you got a great birthday haul. Happy birthday again!

Re: Elizabeth halter... y'all know my opinion, no bra, its a no go! also y'all know my opinion on too many ruffles... Sorry neither the Lydia or the Elizabeth are my style. But I dont knock it for anyone else either. And I believe on the right person both are probably gorgeous, though I have never seen anyone actually wearing them IRL.

Although I did see the bateau dress IRL todya when I went to get my manicure. That thing look GAWD awful on me... I mean I looked dumpy and preggers at the same time... however I saw it on someone else IRL and she pulled it off... wow it looked fabulous on her. I can see why so many of you loved it now. I was secretly thinking some of your were crazy for the past three weeks now. hehe (I no longer think that though... so dont hate me)

  105. The simone jacket is lined with 100% acetate, so it should keep me warm! :P

    ReplyDelete
  106. GigiofCa: Yeah- but it's so pretty too....I go to look for her seasonal "peeks", and you know, I end up buying from them.

    ReplyDelete
  107. diana, sounds like you did great as well! Woohoo for personal shoppers!

I can definitely see where the Elizabeth/Lydia would have clown potential - personally, I was surprised that it worked for me as I don't usually gravitate toward much ruffled stuff at JC. It was definitely over the top for me when it was paired with the Ecole, but looked great with the Jackie. I LOVE that it is machine washable! The more pleated ruffles on the old Elizabeth remind me of this ivory wool shift dress from a few winters back that I'm still kicking myself for not getting. I'll have to see if I can find a picture of it somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  108. OT...do you think this will be a problem. I just got a package from J Crew. It had 2 final sale items and a non-sale item. Big shocker...they marked the bags and the receipt wrong. My $13.99 final sale top is listed as a regular item...while the $59.50 white button down is listed as final sale on its little bag and on the receipt. The white button down has to go back (way too long). Do you think it will be a problem returning it to the store? Hope this makes sense!

    ReplyDelete
  109. blumre, I'd say the Watson pants are definitely true to size. They have some stretch in them, which is great.

Any of you Aficionadas read Real Simple? I got my September issue yesterday and they had a model wearing the bright yellow trousers from the fall lookbook. Wow, were they ever high-waisted! The price wasn't listed, but I wasn't crazy about how they looked on the model.

pink1, that should be no problem - items ending in $.50 aren't usually considered final sale anyway, so the SA should be able to see that is incorrect.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Everyone: I am really sorry to get everyone's hopes up. I was looking forward to seeing new arrivals on the website too and was checking all day. But I don't think it is going to happen either. :(

  111. Cindy M (TX) - the Simone I just got is not lined. Can you post a link to the one you got? Maybe there is more than one?

  115. Megan at 11:24 AM: Thanks for the nice words about the blog. :)

Liz: You can call in an order and let them know you would like the additional 30% off b/c your local store is carrying that sale- most often than not they will honor it. Sometimes, they may ask you to hold while they call the store to verify your store carrying the 30% off. It is definitely worth the call. :)

  116. Okay...I can't view the site either...must be a conspiracy LOL!

I swear...I keep reading the message on the jcrew site as:

  117. This of O/T Has anyone purchased the Surplus Chinos? Just wondering how they fit!

Also I purchased the Waffle Henley in Deep Peacock fp on line, just wondering what the sale price was? I can only order online.
Fit and thickness of the fabric same as last year in case anyone was wondering.

I am surprised that the website is still showing the old stuff, maybe they are having web issues again!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Cindy, that is so pretty!

I was going to give you a link to mine, but the site is acting up. It's more of a short swingy jacket in navy with one button and no lining.

    ReplyDelete
  119. silver_lining - Sounds like you had a good birthday roundup! The Watson wasn't for me but I like looking at them in the store. Clean cut. I love Real Simple. I should just subscribe because I end up buying it monthly.

blumre - I didn't like the Watson. I really wanted to, but I felt they grabbed on the thigh and mine are average.

All - Recvd a Crew catalog today. I already pick this one up in the store a couple weeks ago! The model has on the metallic cloque pencil skirt, gray crystal button birds eye cardigan, black bubble necklace, etc... Is there a catalog newer than this? There *is* a free shipping code, IAT-100 for purchases $150 or more by 9/6/08.

  120. cindy and molly: Here is the link to the Simone Jacket: Click Here . I'm not having trouble with the site at all today.

  124. Went to my itty bitty b&m yesterday and tried on a bunch of stuff and bought one thing. Here's a brief recap.
    try on:
Tartine cardy/crew--been lusting on these from the get go, but they just don't do it for me in person. Mostly because the ruffle flops around and isn't very noticeable. Colors are a little off too from what I thought from online. Boo, will buy if it lasts to go on sale, but saved myself $88 for now.

Sequin Argyle cardy--love this, but $110 was too spendy for now. Fit well and great rich colors, sequins were stitched well so you wouldn't leave a trail of them as with some other cheapie versions.

Fiona wool--super cute, just bought the Jacquard one online and am eagerly awaiting. Had to buy an 8 online normally am a 6 so we'll see.

Purchased: Star Taffeta tie cardigan in color BUT (guessing butter or buttercup) kind of a light mustard yellow. Soft and cozy, I personally love the ribbon tie and ruffled collar. True to size. I only hope that it doesn't pill like the dream stuff I got last year. I also hope that I don't decide mustard looks awful on me.

crystal belt--can't recall name or color, but very fun and versatile. Will probably go on sale for $9.99 next week, but oh well.

love this blog! Check it almost as obsessively as I check Jcrew.com. Need to sign myself in one of these days and become official.

  125. Gigiofca: Thanks for sharing the shipping code. I already turned it into its own post. :)

  127. silverlining - Thanks. Guess I'll have to handle business and get to a b&m soon to pick one up. At least I know what I'm looking for.

Alexis - You're welcome. Happy to contribute. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  128. OT: Has anyone seen IRL or even purchased the Summerweight Cashmere Shell in Deep Yellow? The pic doesn't show up on the website...I'm curious to know if it is a Golden Yellow. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  129. I went over to my b&m today, and guess what? Closed! Doing some renovations, with no reopening date listed. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. If anyone is from NJ and plans to head over to the J.Crew at the Short Hills Mall today, don't!

  130. FFM - My sister was telling me about that color this morning. She loved it! However, it did not work for her. She is dishwater blond with highlights and pale skin. I have bright red hair and she said it would be great for me. I can ask her to write a post describing color if you want me to.

Also - Was just in two stores Westport and Danbury.

    Floral printed Lydia is breathtaking.

    LOVE the snow leaopard jacket.

Astrid with berries looks much less cheap in the charcoal, but there are still quality issues with those silk ruffles fraying. I think it is supposed to look vintage, but just looks cheap.

Jewelry collection is going a little too big and dangling for my taste.

Really liked the abstract rose print. Think it is well done and flattering for most sizes.

I think the dream taffeta=sash cardigan looks a little too much like an old-fashioned bed jacket.

Pique Felicia jacket reminds me of the Ava from last year

There was a great cardi and shell that had a small twist of sequins around the neckhole and trim areas. Thought that was restrained and wearable for day.

Just not sold on those patent totes. They seem so thin.

There is an ombre scarf in about 5 different colors that I thought would be fantastic and very versatile. Can't remember who was going to Oprah, but that would be a great accessory for the show audience.

Sorry so long. Will write another note about what I am dying for from the book.

  133. Okay, this is a little OT, but I started cleaning out my closet this afternoon to make room for all of my new J. Crew purchases, as well as the ones I will be making this Monday when I have my appointment with a PS. My. Lord. Do I ever buy a lot of stuff! I removed 9 pairs of jeans, and I still have 18 remaining.

Last year when I removed EIGHT trash bags worth of clothes from my closet, I swore I would remove one item from my closet for every item I bought. Didn't happen. Do any of you abide by this rule?

I need to start following FFM's mantra of only filling my closet with things I absolutely LOVE!

  134. silver_lining HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

ffm: I have a couple of clothing questions. First, what pants did you wear with your Rhubarb Elizabeth? Second, do you have the Piper in both ivory and kelly green? What do you wear these with? Didn't you mention a navy Jackie cardi with the green? What do you wear with the ivory (if you do have it) I am soooo looking for some ideas for a couple of cook outs that I will be attending. THANKS!!!

  135. Things that look great (to me) in the catalog -

Greta Coat - Wish it would have come in the blue though. Retro high peacoat styling without being too cutesy.

Dream open cardi - reminds me of that silk beach cardigan that Blumre likes. Actually looking forward to seeing the color ''carrot'' in person. Probably end up with the graphite though.

Bridget coat, but those flap pockets might make hips look too big.

Jacinda jacket might be one of those basics you buy on sale that works for years.

Saw the cashmere flora dress in blue at Westport yesterday. Gorgeous. Wish I could get away with it. That floral detail at waist is just right!

Can not live without the graduated sequin scarf. That will be a must purchase for me!

The collection calfskin skirt is beautiful, but not for my lifestyle or budget. What a shame!

There is a crewcuts sweater called the Fairy dust sequin cardi - Why didn't they make that in misses? Why oh why??? Perfect for holiday over a LBD at a drafty party.

    ReplyDelete
  136. FFM: I have the deep yellow shell. It's a very pretty yellow, not *bright* like some of the yellows have been this season. It reminds me of a daffadil. I think you'd like it and be very happy with it. I ended up buying like 6 of those cashmere shells for like $25 each.

    ReplyDelete
  137. jcrewjunkie: Hi! I am wearing the Rhubarb Elizabeth by itself with White pants or White Cropped Chinos and silver accessories. When I wear it with the Honey Glaze jacket I wear it tucked in with the Serengeti Belt and Dark Trouser Jeans or Khaki Cropped Pants and the Serengeti Capri Sandals.

The Kelly Green Piper is worn with the Navy Jackie and White Pants or White Cropped Chinos, Gold Capri Sandals and Gold Accessories. I think it would also look pretty with your Glitter Dot Shorts and Gold Capri Sandals. I am contemplating wearing it with my Jackie in Soft Fuschia, as well.

I have already made a Polyvore set for the Ivory Piper seen Here . It will also look great tucked in with Khaki Cropped Chinos, the Serengeti Belt and Sandals or with the Honey Glaze Jackie as seen Here , except substituting the Piper for the Silky Jersey. Hope this helps! :)

    ReplyDelete
  138. Emily: THANK YOU!!! Can you tell me if it is more of a Golden Yellow, or does it have green undertones?

    ReplyDelete
  139. ok, just got back from my b&m and I still feel the same way...blah. Don't get me wrong. The items are beautiful but it's just more of the same.

There are lots of cute graphic painter tees with crests and beading. I bought two.

I tried the checked(hounds-tooth) wool Academy pants and was so happy that I hated them! Not flattering on me at all. (I love the Watsons, so much more flattering and more everyday for my lifestyle.)

Astrid in Charcoal - I have to say I have been dogging on this jacket since the first time I saw it in a picture in blue. However, now seeing the charcoal one IRL. I had a HUGE change of heart! It is SO Chanel! Very special looking. I do still have the same concern as many of you: that it won't last. But IRL it seemed a little more beefy than I thought. I left it only because I'm not sure I'll get much wear out of it with my lifestyle. But I'm shocked to report that I do LOVE it after all.

Pique Felicia Coat- Great everyday tailored and simple coat but has pleating in the back that could add more volume in the rear area than we want and lays a little weird. But it's a great length for a shortie like me. It hits at the high thigh. Very flattering length. Didn't buy it but still considering if it goes on sale (available in Black, Sea Salt and Rhubarb) $285.

There's a dress that's not in the cat. It's wool ( the material reminds me of the Blair from last year) Sleeveless with a crew neck. It has a band on each side of the waste with button details. Available in charcoal and black for $128. I so wanted to buy this but even with a crisp white button-down under it, it still seemed a little too school girl to me.

I tried the wool Tuesday Trench on for the FOURTH time! I still really like it but HAVE to do a petite. I'm still going to wait until the web is updated to be sure there isn't something else I would prefer.

Tulip coat - HUGE. Not a love for me at all!

Sequins/Argyle Cardi's - similar to what we've already seen but still cute.

    More Ecoles EVERYWHERE!!!

    sorry so long!

    ReplyDelete
  140. hi everyone. just got back from the richmond store, and man, the SA's there are so nice! A big shout out to Roberta, the SA that helped me. I wish this was my local store! Let me tell you, if I ever need something shipped, I'm calling them first!

I saw a lot of the new stuff, but forgot (I know, unbelievable!) to pick a catalog, so I don't know names. But the pencil skirts are LOVELY, and there is a new sweater that is pretty thick that has a ruffle collar and a tie at the neck. it is beautiful. Also saw the Berry Astrid in charcoal, and I didn't like it as much as the bright bold blue. I'm definitely waiting on it though because of the ruffle issues though.

They had a pretty good sale section, considering how long that stuff has been on sale. Lots of pleated silky jersey tops. I tried it on, and it's so big! It didn't work for me although I really wanted it too - the medium was too big, and then it was like the small was too small. By the way, I typically wear a large in j.crew tees. But it was so soft - I can understand why you all love it. There was a paisley citrus jacket in 6, tulip jackets in citron, lots of the antonia (?) dress in the florentine print...

sorry for the long post, but I wanted to make sure to report back. The only thing I bought was a paisley v-neck vest with a little ruffle on the collar. I don't think it was ever online, but it was super cute and on major sale!

    ReplyDelete
  141. also - the belle skirts were NOT on sale at the richmond store. There was a similar one to the belle in the blue color, but it had a tie on the waist, and it was on sale. But not the belles.

Also, I couldn't find any of the elizabeth halters (old version) on sale. I wish they were though - I want them in every color!

    ReplyDelete
  142. weab: I know exactly what dress you're talking about with the buttons - so cute, but I don't know when I'd ever wear it!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Jenn_Brak, Weab, & Kater: Thank you so much for your awesome reviews!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  144. katherined: I know I had the same problem! Maybe if it goes on sale we can justify it. ;)

btw, I just bought the charcoal astrid over the phone with ps 20% off and will pick it up tomorrow!!! AAAAHHHH!!!

    ReplyDelete
  145. weab - you crack me up! that sounds like something I would totally do! congrats on the purchase!

    ReplyDelete

  147. alexis: sure! I'm picking it up tonight after all! And will report back! YAY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  148. you go weab! I saw the gray too, it's much nicer than the blue I think. Hope the kids fared well in the shopping expedition today. Didn't try the new university pants but they are more $$ and I don't love the look, so I agree....last years were so great. Now I wish I had more of those.

    ReplyDelete
  149. kater: Did you happen to see any of the pleated jersey tops in white (sea salt) or honey glaze? My store only has black, navy, and poppy.

    ReplyDelete
  150. aly: those are the exact same colors they had at the richmond store! I did see a lot of one of the yellows (might have been sour lemon rather than honey glaze, I can't tell them apart unless they are right next to each other) at the Pentagon City store last weekend though. Their number is 703-414-3720. Let me know if it works out!

    ReplyDelete
  151. Sorry All! I made a mistake about the buttercup belle. My mom and I went back tonight so she could get her adjustment on the skirt and I could pick up THE jacket. And it turned out it was only misplaced in the sale section. I honestly don't know what happened because I KNOW I saw the 69.99 sale sticker on the tag with my own eyes but WHATEVER!!

    ReplyDelete
  152. caw: This time the kids were great helpers! They put arranged items in the fitting room for the SA and helped get different sizes for me. The SA even sent them back with things for me and they returned with items I asked for without the SA! I think they need to start pulling a salary for all that work! ;)

Btw, I wrote up a review on the charcoal astrid that I sent to Alexis. I can't wait to tell you all about it!

    ReplyDelete
  153. weab, that's cute, they have gone from water boys to little ps'!
I can't wait to hear about the coat, it's definitely a statement piece...and growing on me...it's funny and not unlike me to do 2 trips to the crew in one day!

    ReplyDelete
  154. weab: Which two tee did you buy? I saw one with a rose on it that I loved, and then there was a silvery grey one that I also thought looked really beautiful. What are your thoughts on either of these? THANKS!!

    ReplyDelete
  155. jcrewjunkie: I also loved the one with the rose (black tee with ivory detailing) but I felt I couldn't walk out of there spending $150+ on only 3 t-shirts, so I left it.

If you have the sept catalog, one of them is the one with the crest and beading in dark fog (looks more like soft graphite to me though). It's under the Astrid on the back cover. And the gray slub tee with the charcoal plaid crest applique. I think I know which silvery tee you're talking about and that one's really cute too. I don't think you can go wrong with these. They're the type of thing I live in!

btw, I also tried on the Ivory Slub-tee with the beaded crest and it was pretty see-through. That one was easy for me to leave behind but I bet with the right bra it would probably be fine.

I think natedac has the black rose tee on a listing. Did you see the Ivory one with black detailing at the store? I saw it and liked that one too. But I'm sort of a sucker for black. I may eventually cave...will-power WHERE are you!?!

    ReplyDelete
  156. I don't know where this post should go but I am dying to know if anyone has the sparkle plaid green skirt: I bought it sort of (they are doing a store locator on it) and really hope it fits (12 is the largest size) and am wondering how other people are styling it! I know on line they show it with one of the french market t shirts but i don't think I could pull that off....

    ReplyDelete
  157. maggie may: I tried the Sparkle Plaid Tweed Skirt on last month and I absolutely ADORE it! I plan to get it when the price is reduced a little, since it isn't really practical for my everyday life. ;) Anyways, I have 3 Polyvore sets that I have made with the skirt in it. The first one is with a long sleeve tee in Dark Eggplant...I actually tried this on with it, and it looks beautiful. You can also subsitute with black and it will look fabulous, as well. That set is Here . The second set that I made awhile ago is Here , and the third set is Here . Good luck with the skirt. Please let us know what you think when you receive it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  158. maggie may: I guess it was actually the beginning of this month when I tried it on...I keep forgetting that it's still August.

    ReplyDelete
  159. to fabulousfloridamommy: thank you so much for those styling ideas! i got an email that they located my size in the skirt. Yes it is SO expensive but I figured it would disappear (at least in my size) before it went on sale! It will be the most expensive skirt I have ever bought so I am trying to find ways to wear it a lot this fall and winter. I work in an office but not a dressy one so I love your eggplant combo. Thanks for your ideas, 3 in one!

    ReplyDelete
  160. maggie may: You are so welcome, and congrats on the skirt...it is really beautiful! I think you will be surprised at all the colors you will be able to wear with it...the Plum also looks divine, as well as the honey glaze. You really have many options. :)
