Who Is Your Favorite J.Crew Model?

Molly (in the post "Introducing J.Crew's High-Heel Flare Jean") suggested a great post topic about J.Crew models. It took some time, but I was able to find a site (click here) that lists some of the models that J.Crew uses. The following are just some of the more recent models featured in J.Crew's catalogs and online images:
  1. Anouck Lepere (from Belgium)
    Date of Birth: Feb 15, 1979 | Height: 5'8" | Dress Size: (US) 4
  2. Hye Park (from South Korea)
    Date of Birth: Jan 17, 1985 | Height: 5'9.5" | Dress Size: (US)4
  3. Charo Ronquillo (from the Philippines)
    Date of Birth: 1988 | Height: 5'8.5" | Dress Size: (US) 4
  4. Edda Pedursdottir (from Iceland)
Date of Birth: ? Height: 5'9.5" | Dress Size: (US) 6
Update: I think I referred to the wrong model in the second image. I originally thought it was Ling Tang, but I believe the model is actually Hye Park. Please let me know if I am mistaken. :)

I must admit that I really like the models selected for J.Crew's catalog. They all have that gorgeous girl/boy-next-door look, which I can totally appreciate. :)

Who is your favorite J.Crew model (man or woman)? Why do you like that model in particular? Which model do you miss seeing in J.Crew's catalog?

  1. I like her a lot! I don't know what her name is but I think it's the rosy cheeks - love that!

  2. Charo gets my vote for best, she’s so 22nd Century; then Ling Tang, she looks unbelievable… even unreal; Anouck’s slightly better than Edda, b/c she has that “girl next door” thing going on. I sound like such a pig. Damn this testosterone.

  3. I'd have to say Edda is my fave and glad to see you included her. Something about her just always stands out to me (even if there's a group of models on the page, I always find myself looking at her first). This is a fun topic! Is anyone familiar with Boden's catalog? They feature the name of the model and her answer to a sometimes silly question- I find myself lingering over their pages even more just to see the response. Would love if J.Crew did something like that sometime... or maybe just on the website?

  6. anyone honestly belive that Lings size is a 6?!?!?!?!

  7. Anouck is one of my favorites along with the blonde that was in the Paris and Morocco photo shoots. The blonde (don't know her name) has also been in the Boden Catalog seen Here . My favorite male model was also in the Paris shoot and is now in the recent Express ads seen Here . Btw...Anouck cut her hair. :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. FFM: her name is Vanessa:) Her name is in the Boden catalog along with trivia questions and answers from her.....I love Boden clothes as well as JCrew:)

  9. anon @8:36: Thanks! I think she is just so pretty! :)

  10. I love Edda, and Anouck and Vanessa. But Anouck is my fave. I love her bushy brows and thin lips, LOL

I have also noted the rosy cheeks on a lot of the models. With the new zoom feature on the site, you can zoom right in and see what kind of makeup they are wearing. A lot of them wear a sheer matte pink blush and sheer matte peachy lip color. I started trying to duplicate the look - Burt's Bees blush in pink works pretty well, and I add a swish of Benefit Throb over the top to set it. I will take suggestions on the lips. That's a hard one for me. I'm addicted to Loreal HIP gloss in Adoring, but it has a bit more shine than what the J Crew models wear.

  11. PS. I too have a hard time believing these women are a size 4 or 6! Maybe in UK sizes (which would make them more like a 0 or 2 in the US).

    ReplyDelete
  12. o i thought the 2nd model was Juan DU from China. isn't she?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I second Molly's comment, I like Anouck, Edda, and Vanessa. It's hard to pick a favorite because I love the Paris catalog (Vanessa) but I think overall it's probably Edda though. She's so cute!

    what a great topic!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I've seen Edda's pics in Target a few times lately! I'm thrilled for her that her career is going places, but I wanted to keep her all to myself and J Crew, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  15. Good call on the UK sizing, molly - I've said this before but I think Anouck has gotten even thinner over time, as she looks a bit different from say, January 07's catalog (yeah, I've saved them all since then - I need help! ;)) - if she's a 4, then all my clothes must be mis-sized!

I LOVE the redhead that is usually online, not in the catalogs so much. Haven't seen her on .com lately - I want her hair!

    ReplyDelete
  16. FFM: You are welcome! I think she is just so pretty too....not glam pretty but down to earth, I can relate pretty! Go Vanessa:)

  20. I haven't taken the time to learn how to post the cool looking links, but I really like the model who models the Jacinda jacket: http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/sweaters/merino/PRDOVR~98594/98594.jsp

I just love her olive complexion and dark eyes. She really makes these fall colors POP!

  22. jcrewmama: I also watched that video several weeks ago, and I must say that I think she has one of the BEST jobs in the entire world! I also agree with all of your statements about Renay and J.Crew hiring women like her. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks ffm! :) I don't mind at all...

    ReplyDelete
  24. appgal: Here is the page I used to learn how to do the hyperlinks: Click Here . I think it is the easiest to understand. What you should type is on the left, and what it will look like as an end product is on the right. :) Good Luck!

  25. There is a girl who works in my grocery store who could be a J.Crew model. It goes without saying that she's tall, thin, and beautiful. She's also red-headed and quite heavily freckled--that kind of quirky, well-scrubbed beauty that J.Crew seems to like.

As a relatively *mature* J.Crew customer I would like to see some slightly older models featured in the catalogs. But the thing I'd like to see them avoid is the "O.C" effect--where the 38 yr old is "playing" the mother of the 21 yr old.

  28. Alexis, you amaze me!

They are all so beautiful but I think that Edda and Vanessa are my favorite.

There was a model that jcrew used a lot in the 90's though I dont know her name. I really liked her. She looked remarkably like Jenna Lyons. Tall, long dark hair, interesting face.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Melanie: I also like her a lot...

there is another one from a while back... she used to model all of their suiting. She also had dark hari but her features were very soft.

I love that they are a size 4... I mean obviously its a true size 4 versus my true, not vanity sizing, 8.... to make my point I am 2 or a 4 in Jcrew... but I got to Diane von Furstenburg and I am always an 8. But still I like that they aren't sticks.

PEOPLE that is their true size... remember JCREW's SIZING IS VANITY SIZING! A true size 4 is indeed tiny!

I don't really like Ling she always looks cracked out in all of Jcrew's pictures.

  30. Gonna practice my links again. This model is so pretty and all the colors look great on her. The features of
this model are almost distracting. She's pretty, but not as dainty looking as the other ladies so she stands out. I also love the bright peach & pink blush on the models.

  32. Nevermind on my links. FFM already posted the one I like. She's wearing the Jacinda jacket 98594. The one w/the strong features is wearing 94024.

Alexis or FFM, how do I hyperlink J Crew codes? They are the ones that don't seem to be working for me.

  33. my favorite is the one that did the Paris catalog last year. I think she's gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  34. gigiofca: Go to the page of the pic you want to display, and use the toolbar at the top of your screen as the link to copy and paste in your parentheses. Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I like Anouk because I associate her with some of JCrew's strongest collection last year. I saw her in the subway last year. She's not too tall but she looks exactly like she does in the catalog, very JCrew: fresh & natural. She was wearing JCrew's slub T-shirt & I remember I had to buy one that day after seeing her in it.

I also like Behati Prinsloo. I read that Victoria's Secret is grooming her to be the next Giselle. If I'm not mistaken, I think she's the one wearing the Peggy dress in the sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Edda is my favorite from the ones listed, but there is another model that I like even better. She's Asian and she's not listed here, but her name is Du Juan. She was in the catalog a few months ago. She modeled the Parisian polo.

    ReplyDelete
  37. HOORAAAAY! Now I am oh-so-cool like the rest of you :)

    (thanks for the help, ffm!)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ah yes, her name is Hye Park... so beautiful, she looks breakable – I like. Edda looks like a boxer to me, maybe it’s the chin.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Does anyone remember the jcrew catalogue from the 90's where the entire cast of Dawson's creek posed as the models for that issue? I'm somewhat off-topic here, but I just remembered that today with all this model talk. I saved that issue for the longest time. I was such a fan of DC back in the day... It might have actually been one of the reasons I love jcrew so much now! :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I noticed Edda right away when she first came on the scence...she's so charismatic!

Hey Guys....remember -these girls are tall! A size 4-6, (yes-DESIGNER 4-6, not J Crew 4-6, which is more like a 6-8)on a 5'9" woman is very thin. Their stats are for DESIGNER clothing, not vanity sizing.

I am 5' 10" and weigh around 135. I wear J Crew 4-6 depending on the garment, and Designer 6-8. I have a medium frame. These girls all have small-medium frames, and look like they weigh around 122-127 tops. Hye has a small frame and looks like she weighs even less-prob around 120. for her height that's very very thin.

  41. Vanessa is Vanessa Lorenzo

There are tons of pics and information here:

  42. Hi Melanie

The model you like is Renata Maciel, she is Brazilian. Here's an editorial she made for Claudia magazine.

  43. I really liked the models from Fall 2004 catalogs. They were on the covers of I think September and October issues. One was in a car with a guy driving, the second one was wearing a black and white herringbone hat. Does anyone remeber their names?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Currently my favorite are Anouck and Du Juan. I can't stand the model wearing 94024. She almost ruins the outfits for me.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love her and her. They are graceful, elegant and whatever I see them wear I wanna buy. Does any one know their names?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anouck is my favorite! I can't believe that some of them were born in 1988!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. The model appgal likes is one of my favorites too. She did an Anthropologie catalog this summer that I loved. My new favorite catalog model, though, is the redhead in the early Fall Anthro catalog. I do not have her figure but i want everything she wears!

    ReplyDelete
  48. My favorites are Vanessa and Anouck - I loved them in last year's catalogs (Paris, Ireland, Argentina, Home for the Holidays.) That's what I picture when I think of J.Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  49. ahh...thanks Marisa! I knew I'd seen that model before but couldn't place her. had to have been the anthropologie catalogue.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I really like Vanessa even though she is my opposite. And I do think it's great that J.Crew uses Asian models regularly, as they are often forgotten in fashion. I do wish they would use a Black model that actually has a darker complexion. It is nice to see people with similar coloring wearing clothes I am considering buying and I have yet to see a J.Crew model as dark as me. And no, I don't look like Alek Wek. Get with it, J. Crew! Maybe the July Italian Vogue will help...

    ReplyDelete
  51. I like the girl in the fall preview catalog. She looks adorable and made me want to buy the Lucy boucle jacket. She's so cute I want to keep her in my pockets! Boy... that sounded creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  52. the konosur: hahahaha! I can't decide if I think she's cute or not... almost every picture of her, she looked so, I don't know.. vacant? Stoned? Pissed off? Although, the pics of her smiling made the cover of the catalog and the pic of the open crewneck dream sweater look like a completely different person!

    ReplyDelete
  53. oh, duh! You're talking about the lookbook, not the August catalog, right? Yeah, she's cute! :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I believe Anoucks last name is Lepere with an E at the end. She is pretty fabulous.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ahhh I finally found the one I like she is modeling the pastille dress. I always think she looks pretty yet pulled together. I wish they used her more. I am kind of bummed that you dont see her as much anymore

OT: I bought the Olivia Tank today. I LOVE IT! And it was $45 dollars! YAY! I bought it in the brillant blue color and it is just fantastic. Its not as soft as most of the cashmere is, but it is comfortable and the V-neck isnt too low. It gives me a defined waist and its something great to sweat on those "bloated" days! I did have to buy an XS but I adore it!

    ReplyDelete
  56. blumre, I like that model too! Someone said the other day that her name is Marcelle and I googled it, but don't think that's her.

    She also models for Talbots.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I really like the J Crew swimsuit model. She's so pretty in an understated way, plus her bod is perfect - not too thin, not too athletic, just curvy enough. I notice they ONLY use her for swimsuits.

Regarding the male models, I like that they use some with gray hair, I just wish they'd sometimes show them with clean-shaven faces. I'm so over the trying-too-hard-to-have-a-five-o'clock-shadow look. Do alot of men actually go to work looking like that? I know my husband doesn't!
Regarding the women, I wish they'd use more forty-somethings!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Molly, I agree. Mallory Snyder, the swimsuit model (and an MTV Real World alum) is great! She totally looks like someone you might actually know. Pretty, but real. I think they do put her in some beachy and/or bridesmaid-type dresses every once in a while.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Molly - that swimsuit model is Mallory from the Real World Paris. She's also done some work for Bobbi Brown recently.

    ReplyDelete
  61. HDayton: Thanks for the nice words! :)

Molly: I think Mallory is gorgeous. I use to watch her on MTV's Real World Paris. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Alexis, I had no idea she was on TV - funny thing, I always thought she seemed more actress-y (as if reality TV is acting, but you get what I mean) than model-y.

    ReplyDelete
  63. slightlyoldersally - I read right here on this blog that the Sept. catalog is going to feature a 58 year old model. I can't wait to see what they do with her. The last time they used an older female model, she was more of a prop than a star.

I think Cindy Joseph would make a great J Crew model. She does a lot for Sundance, J Jill, and Target.

    Cindy Joseph Picture here

  64. blumre - Yay on your Olivia. I tried it on and wanted it to work, but I didn't have luck.

To whoever helped me w/Katie sweater sizing, thanks! I recvd my sriped sour lemon from an eBay seller & LOVE it! And FFM, I got a Joelle in bright papaya which feels great on the body.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Molly- I know what you mean about Mallory looking a bit more actress-y. However, she really has stayed away from those MTV Real World/Road Rules game shows in order to focus on her modeling career. I think Mallory and Jacinda Barrett are probably the most famous (in terms of using their fame in a new serious career direction) Real World alums. :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. blumre: I love that model as well! They used to use her all the time but she is slowly disappearing...

    ReplyDelete
  67. I love the diversity of ethnicity and age of models feature by JCrew. Kudos for JCrew!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think Anouck is my favorite as well, she's pretty but in an approachable way (my dog is named Anouk...so I guess I'm a little biased).

I also love that Mallory is modeling for J. Crew...I always thought she was so gorgeous and down-to-earth on Real World: Paris.

    ReplyDelete
  69. The men in my house say the JCrew models are 'plain Janes'.
    The prettiest model
is now modeling for Gap & Hanes. JCrew used her as the main model last year.

    ReplyDelete
  70. KatherineD: You just got back from Europe right? How was it?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Gigiofca: How did you size the Joelle? What size did you get and what size are you normally? Did it work out the way you expected... sorry to pry just might order one off of ebay. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  72. I thought this model was gorgeous. She modeled some of J.Crew's swimwear. Anyone know her name?

    ReplyDelete
  73. blumre - I heard that the Joelle ran large, but I didn't want to chance sizing down. I went ahead and got a 4, which is what I'd normally get -- that are a 6P. I am a big B/small C, so that may be why I am pleased with the 4. It's a good layering piece.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hye Park is my favorite. She makes the clothing transcend ages. You look at her and think that anyone from 20-60 could wear the outfit!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Who is the really young model that appears in the Look Book (the one from Summer) and now in my latest J Crew catalog? She looks awfully young and that is not a positive for me.

    ReplyDelete
  76. none are fabulous, but i guess if i had to choose it would be the blonde not pictured in your post

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anouck has always been my favorite. I also adore the CrewCuts models. They make me wish I had children so I could buy the clothes for them!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anouck is very pretty. I wish they would bring Lauren Hutton back, too. I am 38; have been buying J.Crew since the early 90's when Lauren was their model.

    ReplyDelete
  79. The J. Crew models are absolutely gorgeous. They also have no hips. Now, J. Crew's customers, we have hips and a tummy - even when we do a gazillion crunches. I'd love to see models with curves so we can see how the clothes would work on those of us with curves.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I like Anouck and the African-American model pictured here (or is she the Philippino one listed in this post?).

    ReplyDelete
  81. I also love the model of African descent (http://images.jcrew.com/erez4/erez?src=images/onFigure/95/95078/95078_NA6285_m.tif&tmp=prdDtIm)

I don't think she's necc African-American, but I read all the comments and no one seems to know her name! What is it?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Just discovered this site and love it! My two favorite J Crew models are Vanessa Lorenzo (silky-haired blonde with amazing cheek bones) and Mallory Snyder who was on the Real World Paris. She models J Crew bikinis for the most part and has a gorgeous athletic body.

    ReplyDelete
  83. i love all the j crew models! theyre so typical, i feel like i could find them walking down the street. but i do have a crush on one of the male models. i cant find his name; dark haired, scraggly beard, he's been in a lot of the recent catalogs. mm hes a keeper :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. edda and anouk - i love them- they are both in boden also

    ReplyDelete
  85. I know this is an older post, but I hope someone might still be looking at it who knows the answer! My favorite J.Crew model is a redhead that they used fairly frequently up until the last few seasons. They even had a mini video of her at one time. This is one picture of her I found (let's hope this link works): http://img.alibaba.com/photo/100048581/Jcrew_Clothings.jpg

The only pic I see of her still on the J.Crew site is the Cashmere Suzy Jacket. Anybody know who this is?

    ReplyDelete
  86. My fave is Lily Aldridge, seen here: http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Feature_Assortment/NewArrivals/jacketsouterwear/PRDOVR~17505/17505.jsp
