Jcrewbug (in the post "Enjoy 30% Off J.Crew's Sale... Not Really") came up with a great topic for a post: what is your favorite J.Crew find of the summer?
Considering we have all have certain items we lusted over- even willing to track down certain items by calling local stores, or stalking the web every morning- it would be interesting (and pretty fun!) to share that particular item (or items) and how you were able to locate it (or them). :)
So what is your favorite find of the summer and how did you locate the item? Are you still lusting after a particular summer item?
it is a tie between the blue hibiscus tee or the flower belt....got the tee for $9.99 and tracked down the belt in navy down to a store in NJ.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the Slub Fleece Hoodie. I know it's so basic, but it's the softest thing ever. I got a blue one for $14.99 in June and just paid $19.99 less the student discount for a white one. I check the website a billion times a day to see what other colors are available in XL.
ReplyDeleteThe JC swimsuit models, esp. that one in the green - ouch!
ReplyDeletemy sand dollar charm bracelet...after the awful regrets of not buying it the first time I saw it, I had to hunt it down. I wear it so much my DH tells me it'll wear out. Maybe that's the difference between men and women; I will wear something new right away and wear it until I get tired of it. DH will only wear things he gets compliments on once in a while. He says that it doesn't feel "special" otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI have a four-way tie: buttery twill trousers and cargos, cropped matchsticks ($37) and black lilah dress ($20). These have been staples for me. I've pretty much lived in these four items this season. :) Love!
ReplyDeleteLove that question!
ReplyDeleteI think I would have to say the black San Telmo jeacket. I found this on sale in the store while shopping with my mom and sister, and both my sister and I thought this jacket rocked and got it, I wore it for a couple months before I even found this blog--when I realized the jacket had a name, a following, fans--and I realized I had found other addicts/aficionadas!
I still love the jacket, I think it will definitely go into fall with me!
Thanks again for this blog Alexis!
Patchwork Madras shorts and another pair in wide seersucker. I've been wearing them all summer with flip flops and polos. It's been too hot to wear anything else.
ReplyDeleteAnd I must once again thank Alexis, with this blog and the advice found here I would have given up on J.crew this summer, but there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel.
All of the anchor things!

ReplyDeleteBest $core was the polka-dot rosette dress in pewter, $30 (40% off of $49.99) Randomly tried it on at a b&m. Woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteweab - also living in my chinos & khakis
jcrewguyincanada - Nice. I love seersucker. Waiting on the seersucker wrap jacket (93671) to arrive in the mail.
I'll have to say it's the cotton/silk elizabeth halter, which was only available in the stores. The mixture of cotton and silk made it more casual and wearable for summer. And this is the only item I bought at the full retail price...and I have it in all three colors (white, lemon, navy) - That just says how much I love it!
ReplyDeleteI really don't think I can pick just one...I got some really great deals! :) Right now I am LOVING my Silky Jersey Pleated Tops...I will have 7 of them once my other 3 come next week, and I got them all for $17.50 each. I know they are really considered part of the Fall line, but I purchased them in August, so I'm thinking they count. ;) I also love my Elizabeth Halter, Tulip Jacket, and Cotton Matting Wide Leg Pants, as well as my San Telmo that I will be wearing this Fall. :)
ReplyDeleteRingspun Henley Tee - I bought 5 of them I wear them all the time and my grey yoga jacket, which I wear as a regular hoodie.
ReplyDeleteI also say thank-you for this blog, I would have given up on J Crew this summer if it were not for this place.
I also have a tie...
ReplyDeleteIt's between the tie front dress (got it in navy and papaya...LOVE the fabric and the ease of the look)
The Lisa Dress (got it in green...again, fabric is so comfy!)
And the slub cotton capricia tee (can't remember if that's the right name for it?! Can't find it on website...)
I can't wait for the weather to cool down so I can wear some new fall stuff!!!
Swingy shirred pique dress and haley dress. I love these two items. The pique dress I wear on its own and also as a tunic over jeans. It is a great wash and wear item.
ReplyDeleteI got some great jackets and sweaters this summer...but it is just too hot to get good wear out of them. Will have to wait it out till it gets cooler.
ReplyDeleteEvery color of the pique strapless dress! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe pique strapless dress is also my favorite. I wear it all the time. I also but about 5 skirts this summer in different prints. I am wearing my Embroidered Carmen tank (I have white and papaya) every week. Oh, I also love my Ischia and Trastevere dresses!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 favorite items. I love the fiji floral cardigan. I ordered it 2 days before I left for vacation, when it was on sale with an extra 25% off. My other favorite item is the fiona jacket. I wanted this from the moment I saw it in the stores. Don't know why I didn't order it when it was still online. When it got marked down to 29.99, I called 16 stores to find one in my size, in any color. :)
ReplyDeleteI know I said 2 items, but I LOVE the favorite fit chinos. I got them in green when they got marked down in b&m, and I found one pair, in my size, in b&m for 19.99. :)
Hey, I NEVER saw the Elizabeth halter that was only in the store. Does anyone have a picture? Is it just the same with cotten in it? I need one! I didn't buy the silk one because I have all these dress clothes with no wear to go!
ReplyDeleteI think my fave is the Kayla dress just for its comfort and ease. I have worn mine as a coverup and also out for a casual night.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, the website issues continue. I received a shipment notice for an order placed online on Weds. Two of my items were short shipped, however when I checked the website they both appeared to be in stock. Called and a very nice CS explained that her system showed that there were 1 or 2 available of each item but that likely they were really none. She said that when an item shows less than 10 are available on the system, there are probably many less, if any. She said they were told this inventory problem would be resolved by the end of the month. We will see!
I'm also a big fan of my black San Telmo. I've had a lot of complements on it and it looks good with pants and shorts. I called a store with the help of this blog to find this item!!! I believe it was michelle who helped me out but it's been awhile:)
ReplyDeleteOT - did anyone get an email about new additions to the sale - that I can't seem to find in the sale section???
jcrewbug: I also received that e-mail and went through everypage with really nothing new. I did see some yoga things that I didn't remember but that was it. I wish there was a way to search via "newly listed".
ReplyDeletemm...This is hard. I love my Swiss dot Fontana dress in navy. I had seen it in the catalog, but somehow missed it when it was on sale in the stores. Then, I stalked it on the sale section in the website, but it never got marked down below 79.99 and then they only had it on white. I was able to get it off ebay for 39.99 plus shipping and I was so glad I did because it is super comfy and flattering. I absolutely love dresses and ruffles.
ReplyDeleteI also really like my Flamenco Dot Popover. It isn't as versatile for me as I would like, but I love how it feels and drapes against my body. Usually, more form-fitting tops look better on me because I get lost in tunics and looser fitting shirts, but I still love this shirt because of the classy look and comfortable feel. I got the last one in my store that they had forgotten to send back to the website and I was able to get it for ~$30, which made me happy.
I really like the ruffle henley's too. I wear one every week it seems like. Love the fem look. I got these during the 30% off sale. And thanks to FFM for letting me know about the ruffled Emily's at her store in Orlando!
ReplyDeleteThere are three items that I am still lusting for - the Navy Kelly (never gonna happen :), any color of Lily, and the Italian Matelesse Lucia Jacket (I simply just can't afford it right now). :)
I would have to say my double-strand seahorse necklace. I wear it everywhere and always get comments.
ReplyDeletebubble necklaces and fiona.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to say the cropped matchstick jeans!
ReplyDeleteI know its so boring. But they are really a great great item. Dress 'em up or down, they are endlessly flattering! I love them. (if anyone else horseback rides they also work great under chaps--- sounds silly but thats a huge consideration for me in my jeans buying). I just think the fit is fabulous and everything!
weab: I am so glad you also said the jeans.
ReplyDeleteI also have to give a shout out to a great spring item.
THe merino ruffle blouse... endlessly classic and great! I love wearing it!
blumre: Also love the merino ruffles. I've debated so long about the cropped matchsticks. Maybe I'll have to hunt down a pair.
ReplyDeletejcrewbug: i just bought them in the gray color, b/c the white was too see through! I cant wait for them to arrive. I am also buy them in pink, i mean they are so cheap now! I have the regular denim. And really they are just fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIf you do get them, size down one size, they rund HUGE. I am normally a 29 but the 28 fits me beautifully.
The black Lilah dress for me. It's so easy, but every time I wear it, someone tells me I'm beautiful. Not cute or pretty, but beautiful. Men & women. Can't beat that kind of attention.
ReplyDeleteI have loved loved loved my madras patchwork long-sleeved shirt, and the royal stewart tartan board shorts. I loved them so much I actually paid full price so I could be sure to get them- too bad the board shorts went on sale two weeks later!!!
ReplyDeleteblumre: thanks I'll keep that sizing in mind if I run across a pair! I didn't see any online in my size right now(norm a 27).
ReplyDeleteOT, I found a code for endless.com, which I heard a few people mention on this blog, for 25% off. The code is "lucky4."
ReplyDeletejcrewbug: the overdyded ones are under pants not denim online. so check there. they regular denim and white ones are under denim. They have your size in the overdyed ones. (I am sorry I am an enabler! People shouldn't let me near addicts! If this was group therapy I would totally be kicked out of the group! )
ReplyDeleteoooo aly thanks!!!! I was thinking about a bag. I will have to do that when I get home tonight
ReplyDeleteoooops i posted this on the wrong thread so I am reposting! sorry guys
ReplyDeleteAnon- I actually bought my matchstick jeans at full price too! And I am so glad I did. I mean I always get my discount (but at that time I was only a student so it was only 10%). It was seriously one of the best purchases of the summer. I am always willing to pay full price for their denim! Its worth it and so much cheaper than other good brands.
OT: In other news I just placed a VERY small online order for the first time since the upgrade. I will see how it works. I will call in and get the price adjusted to my discount and that will be that. It was only 30 dollars... so we will see if it works or not. I will let you know.
It looks like they have finally gotten most of the kinks out of the website. I am excited about that.
I bought a pair of seer sucker burmudas and a pair of flipflops. Yay!
Not exactly a summer item, but I got a great price on the sale and I seem to be wearing it everywhere--my azalea cashmere hoodie. It is the perfect mix of flattering, classic, and casual.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really like my sweet orange Candace sweater.
(Can you tell from my comments it's been a rather chilly summer?)
OT - I just had a tv J Crew sighting. A CNN reporter is wearing the sequin argyle cardigan.
ReplyDeleteI just missed out (while on the phone with CS trying to get the 40% off sale) on the Logan pants in sea salt (<$20 with the sale!) and the cable v neck cashmere sweater in navy! I'm so sad! They were avaiable when i called...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite item of the summer is the Casa Rossa jacket (item 94140). I bought it in white linen back in June and absolutely love it. It fits great and is the perfect weight for cooler summer evenings! Of course, it went on sale two weeks after I bought it, but I wasn't too upset given that I wear a "tall" in jackets and those sizes tend to sell out quickly.
ReplyDeletei've been waiting to get the katie sweater jacket in navy, and i finally did this morning, with the 40% off, educator's 15% off, and free shipping! i can't believe it came out to $20. :) i also got a pair of the liv flats in silver, the martine clutch in royal violet navy, the piper tank in ivory, and 2 pairs of the buttery twill trousers. thanks, everyone, for letting me know that these discounts could be combined!!
ReplyDeletetie between the elephant slub tee and the green pineapple print caterina top. I went all the way to oregon (from a couple hours out of seattle) looking for that t-shirt. And while I was there I got the Caterina top off the mark downs.
ReplyDeletequestion, what does b&m stand for?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite summer item is the Silk Taffeta Pop-On Mini. I have the skirt in fuchsia and kelly green and I absolutely LOVE them. I dress them down with plain white tees and dress them up with a white Frances blouse.
ReplyDeleteFor the fall, I love the Lulu heels with their colorful bows but I'll wait for them to go on sale.
jen: did you place your order from the red phone. i can't get them to give me 40 off over the phone.
ReplyDeleteanon @ 11:59 - b&m stands for brick and mortar store
ReplyDeletejcrewbug: when I called in, I told them I had checked with my b&m and they no longer had what I wanted, but it was 40% off in store. She put me on hold and called my store to verify. If the cs you get won't do that, either try again or ask for Katelyn. She helped me on Thursday and was willing to give the 40%, 15%, and free shipping with SHOP.
Honestly, I really enjoy the favorite tanks! I picked up a slew of them and they are so soft and fit so nicely!
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy the pique sunwashed cotton skirt that I got in white. It's great to pull on with just a tee or tank (kind of like a fancy version of sweats) :)
jcrewbug: it was over the phone, not the red phone. the first time i called, i talked to joe. at first, he said i couldn't combine the discounts, but when I told him that my b&m combines the 40% with the 15%, he put me on hold to confirm and gave me the discount. i don't remember the second SA i talked to (i ended up placing two orders), but she happily gave me both discounts. hope this helps! :)
ReplyDeleteMusthavejcrew: Regarding the elizabeth halter, it's exactly the same as the ones sold online, except they are made of different material. The ones in the stores were a combination of cotton and silk, and they only came in navy, white (not ivory) and lemon. I'm not a big fan of 100% silk items since they don't feel as comfortable to be worn in the summer.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know the halters in the stores and online were different until one day when I asked an CS because I had noticed all the halters were all gone from stores (without ever going on sale!). That was about one month ago. She told me they were store only items. I had to call every jcrew in the NY state are to find my navy one! Quite of an experience!
I spent a good chunk of my summer in one of their smocked beach dresses (I have 3 total). It would have been more, if I could have gotten away with wearing it to work. ;)
ReplyDeletezero luck with the CS's today!!! can't get my 40 off anything :)
ReplyDeleteJ Crew website is crashing gain today, also you cannot sign in to your account.
ReplyDeleteI just signed into my account (for the 2nd time today) without any problem. And, the website was working fine as well.
ReplyDeleteI know that the "metallic" look isn't for everyone, but I really do love my Metallic Casa Rossa jacket. I have paired it (as it was shown) with a white tank, the Playa bermudas, gold kitten heel sandals, and the Scrolled Link bracelet and it looked incredible. I have also paired it with the same white tank, Overdyed Cropped Matchstick jeans in nectarine, gold capri sandals (or the kitten heel ones) and the Coral and Shell Beaded necklace and it looked fabulous as well. I have also thrown it on with my Cropped Matchstick jeans and again a white tank (I buy tons of J Crew tanks in white), and the Desert Drop earrings and it looks great for a day of shopping. I ALWAYS get plenty of compliments when wearing it! Yay!
ReplyDeleteMy very most favorite purchase this summer, however, was the Desert Drop earrings. I love how they look bold so that I can pair them with just a tee, tank or shirt in a solid color (capris, shorts or jeans on the bottom) and they just have the amazing ability to pull the entire outfit together! Incredible!! I am always hoping that J Crew will have another bold earring because these are so versatile and add such panache to ANY outfit.
Sorry for such a long post!
Anon-have you tried using mozilla? When I use IE the site crashes constantly but not at all in Mozilla
ReplyDeleteMy favorite items has to be the Riviera tee. I reach for it over and over again because it is so cute and comfy. Plus I can't help but feel a little Audrey in a striped boatneck :)
newyork0311: thanks for your info on the Elizabeth Halter!!!
ReplyDeleteBlumre (aka EnableR) I bought a pair of cropped matchsticks in grey. I got a 27 (which is what I am normally) cause they are a bit snug on me anyway. The 28 is a bit too big. So I hope they fit. :) Thanks.
ReplyDeletejcrewbug: I hope they treat you as well as they have treated me. I am excited to get my gray ones... they should arrive monday. I will be sure to post my review! :)
ReplyDeletemath teacher: Which color of the sequin argyle cardi was she wearing? I love those and was just looking at them this morning!
ReplyDeletejcrewjunkie: she was wearing the sequin argyle (96128J) in heather camel graphite. Of course, she was behind a desk, so I'm not sure what she had it paired with. She had it buttoned almost all the way up, so she was wearing it more as a sweater than a cardigan. Hope that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI love my light grey silky jersey pleated top (item No. 96524) - I finally got it last Friday and have worn it 3 times since! Comfy and classic.
ReplyDeletefabulousfloridamommy - is item No. 96524 the same as the tops you got for $17.50? Was there a sale I missed? I am seriously considering getting some more.
Unfortunately, everything that I fell in love with this summer was sold out or back ordered and the order was lost. A very disappointing summer for my with J.Crew.
ReplyDeletenamtaro: Hi! Yes, that is the same item...they are marked $34.99 at my store plus and additional 40% off, which makes them about $20, I think. I also got 15% off educator discount, and that is what made mine $17.85. :) You should be able to call in your order and tell them the store at Orlando price plus 40% off and ask for a price match. Orlando store is 407-226-9732. Good Luck! :)
ReplyDeletewasn't sure where to put this post but I'm interested in what everyone thinks is either selling out or is going to sell out? Like we need anymore fuel for our fire!
ReplyDeleteThanks fabulousfloridamommy! Is the Orlando store the one in the Mall at Millenia? Visited that J Crew last year during a business trip - great store. I will see if the Orlando store will ship - if not, I am going to the U.S. in about 2 weeks time so hopefully I will be able to pick up some more of those fab tops!
ReplyDeletenamtaro: You're welcome, and yes, it's the store in Mall at Millenia...the sizes in the Silky Jersey tops were getting limited, so you should call tomorrow...407-226-9732...Good Luck! Let me know how it turns out. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite items are somewhat different that the things that I tend to wear everyday. As my taking care of the kids all day favorites have been the baby doll tee, cafe capris, sour lemon yoga jacket, and the slub-cotton tunic (great over a nursing cami). My favorite things to wear out are the lisa dress, coppelle allesia blouse, lucia shoe.
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to fall and to the astrid!!!
The Ripstop beach short is great. 4 pockets that button and the rear ones have a flap pocket. I bought one at full price but had to return it because it was way too big. However, a few weeks later I dropped by a store that had them on sale. So I sized down and bought two - one in honey brown and the other in stone.
ReplyDeleteI love my Kate dress and am really excited about a Crewcuts jacket I got for my son. It's lightweight and has motorcycle patches all over it, I think it's called the Circuit Racer Jacket. He won't fit into it for a year or two, but that's fine. It's really hard to find things I love for boys (it's very easy to find things I love for girls).
ReplyDeleteOOO I have another one: I love my ripstop mini skirt. I wear it nearly every weekend and I wore it about 4 times while in greece. I love that skirt.
ReplyDeleteI should add that I love and wear my flip flops a lot. I have the pink sea horses from last year and the madras sea horse from this year. And, no, I didn't get them b/c of the sea horse. My niece picked out last years' and I chose this year based on the color in the madras. Imagine my surprise when I realized they had sea horses on them, too! :)
ReplyDeleteMorrocan Kaleidoscope bracelet
ReplyDeleteEnameled tile necklace
Bubble necklace
Babydoll tee
White city-fit chinos.
ReplyDeleteNavy blue boatneck T.
Capri sandals in serengeti. They hurt, but I love the look.
Too hard to pick just one - I've found so many great pieces, many of which are really fall pieces, but . . . all the pleated silky jersey tops (um, 5!), the Coppelle print shorts, my gold capri flip flops and thw two bathing suits I love (1 in kelly green and the other that new florentine print.) And my white jackie cardigan. There, I'm done (for summer anyway. Now, about that Tuesday Trench!)
ReplyDeleteAlisha
ThHe "Kate dress" is my favorite - in turquoise - but I could not find it in my size so I got the orange one.
ReplyDelete
