J.Crew Email: Final Sale Updated

"Thanks!" to JCrewBug & MustHaveJCrew (in the "What's Your Favorite J.Crew Item of the Summer?" post) and Namtaro who let us know that J.Crew sent an email about adding new styles to their final sale. I am not sure if I saw that many "new" items to warrant this email, but perhaps I didn't spend enough time looking around the site. (For example, they may have more sizes available as oppose to more items, which was the criteria I was looking at originally.)

Are you excited about the final sale having "new styles"? Did you notice a difference in the selection of the "sale" section? Do you think the sales on the website are going to be "final sales" from now on? (Remember when "final sales" were temporary? It feels like this "final sale" has been going on forever now...)

  1. I couldn't find any new items, but I did wonder, like you Alexis, if maybe they had added new sizes and colors. Maybe since I'm looking for specific items to go on sale, I couldn't see the new ones.

  2. I looked, and I did not find anything new as well.

  3. Does anyone know when the reload is? I remember before the upgrade it was 6:45am but I haven't figured it out yet. News to J Crew...I purchased a ton more at 6:45 every morning then I do now. It was the thrill of getting it! I really really want the piper in silver so that's what I've been looking for in the sale area.

  4. I also received this email and deleted it...I have been checking the sale section for another pair of Cropped Chinos in British Khaki, as well as a few other items, and have noticed nothing new added in other categories. I think it's another one of those "fluke" emails...like the shoes and new arrivals...they probably did it awhile ago and just now got around to sending out the email...

musthavejcrew: Orlando has a couple of the pipers in silver with and additional 40% off...not sure what sizes, though. :)

alexis: you are still doing a great job keeping up with the blog, even on your trip! :) I hope it's all going well for you!

  5. I couldn't tell if anything was new, either ... I think the real addition of new sales stuff was on Wednesday, when the Cotton-Silk Pintuck Tanks and Stone Tuesday Trench had gone on sale.

  6. I don't care WHAT I do, I NEVER get J Crew emails. :( I used to get them and I stupidly unsubscribed in a snit. So ladies, no matter how badly you want to break your J Crew addiction, do not unsubscribe from the emails because when you get tempted back into your old J Crew ways, you will miss out!

  7. FFM: I finally got around to looking at everyones outfits on Polyvore. You have got some talent. If this teaching thing doesn't work out for you, you've got some options. :0) Thanks for all of your helpful advice!!!

  8. Thanks ffm! I just called your orlando store and they only had one silver piper in sz 12. I need either a 6 or 8. Thanks again!

  9. hdayton: Thank you...I appreciate the compliment! I would LOVE to have a career as a Personal Stylist...maybe someday... :)

musthavejcrew: You are welcome...sorry they didn't have any in your size, though!

  10. Now I am addicted to J.Crew, this blog, and Polyvore :) I have been creating outfits all day today.

I haven't noticed anything new added to the sale section. I did order a skirt though because my size reappeared today and I hope it was indeed in stock. Last time when they sent out the new sale e-mail some of the items (like seahorse necklace) went on sale but were not moved to the sale section yet.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I also didnt see any new items, nor did I get this e-mail. GRRRR! Maybe tomorrow morning they will add new items to the sale.

Also there was a problem with the ellie chinos. Its a long story but I am getting them for free. So even when they get here and they will have to be tailored, I can now afford tailoring! Basically, they wouldn't load into the system so they are being "hand shipped out" basically my PS had to call down to the warehouse to have them sent out. And then my gift card wouldn't take the charge. I told her to just take the $ off the card because I can and should pay for them. But she said no, her manager said it was OK.

Personal Shopper if you are reading this. THANKS. I feel bad for not paying for them. But, not that bad. ;) (You can still charge the gift card if you want to.) Thanks so much for going the extra mile to make sure I got my coveted alpine green pants. You are really a rock star!

  12. FFM: You deleted J.Crew's email? That is so sad! I dont think I have ever deleted one of their e-mails. :(

hdayton:maybe thats what happened to me. I accidentally clicked unsubscribe... it was a total accident, I thought I was doing something else. And now I can't get back on. I am really upset about this! I have re-subscribed about 4 times and I still havent gotten a thing

  13. OK, here is what I hate. I got the email, but how the heck do you find out what the new styles are??? My wonderful morning routine used to be getting up early and excitedly finding new styles had been added. I bought TONS of clothing that way! Now I have to go page by page, but who has time to do that when they have kids to get ready? I am so bummed. I hate the new way they do the sale section. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I almost always get JCrew emails but I didn't get this new one. Wonder why?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I didn't get the email. Just went to the website and *these* are the items I don't recall seeing:

Ruffled halter tank swimsuit,Soleil d'Or jacket, Ischia dress, Lisette ballet flats, Domino jacquard cropped jacket, Lucia flat sandals, Petite Irish linen skirt, City patent-leather ballet flats, Watercolor paisley cardigan, Solid wide band hipster bikini skirt, Jillian espadrilles, Tivoli suede ballet flat, Haley dress, Tuesday trench, Giverney-print Sydney dress, Stella print sundress, Giverny print bateau top, Reef print Alexa dress, Cliffrose print blouson dress, Valencia print short slv cardigan, solid cashmere rosette cardigan, sand dollar charm bracelet, Jillian strapless dress, City fit Maui print cafe capri pants, cashmere graphic argyle short slv sweater, Seahorse print Dylan tank, solid chiffon Daphne tank

It's a bit dense, but I figured I'd at least list the names sans item number while I was scrolling through. I set the search to show 90 items at a time, By Relevance.

The website is still a little funky, but it has improved a little imo.

  16. Like a woman obsessed, I went by another b&m today.

FALL II is coming soon. The Walnut Creek, CA store is expecting 60 boxes this Monday. There are more items coming after that, but now I can't remember when. It's either late August or the 1st part of September. I have to improve my reporting skills. I'll try to do better next time.

Not sure how rollouts occur. The WC store is an upscale store -- well, at least they carry the cashmere, unlike Pleasanton, CA. At any rate, you might want to call your local b&m to see if they are expecting a shipment. And perhaps there will be new items online next week.

    Oooooooh la la. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'd placed a few web orders on items that I wanted, but not urgently, and was impressed as a rolling wave of "Your order has shipped!" emails popped into my inbox today. :) The only one that I haven't gotten so far, then, is my honey glaze Jackie cardigan. I am really looking forward to that one but can't believe it sold out THAT quickly! It's not set to ship out until September.

Also, final sale, ugh. Does it ever end?!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ugh. New items with the same "old" website issues!

    ReplyDelete
  19. gigiofca: you're from the east bay? I am too! I totally agree with you on with the Walnut Creek store. Its so much better then Pleasanton!

anyway, in my opinion the final sale really should just FINALLY END. I'm over it! I don't want a swim suit, I don't want a slub cotton wrap-front tee and I DEFINITELY don't want the Haley dress. GIVE IT UP Jcrew. No one wants these leftovers...

OH and totally off topic -- I went to a Jcrew factory store today...and you guys were totally right about the quality. It just isn't there! I felt like the clothes were like a knock off of jcrew...except not...it was the weirdest thing ever. Definitely not a do again.

    ReplyDelete
  20. gigiofca: I have seen almost every item you named in the Final Sale for the past week, so I don't think they were new additions. ;) I think it was an "after the fact" and "by the way" email, like J.Crew seems to be so good at...

"By the way...we just added new styles to the Final Sale over a week ago, and almost everything is already gone...have fun looking at what WAS available!"

    ReplyDelete
  21. gigiofca: too funny...i was just at the walnut creek store Sat. also! i was told they are a "select" store so they do carry cashmere along with the good stuff like bags, jewelry. not much different than a "lux" store. they also had the lucille and andrea jackets. i wish the pleasanton store would carry that stuff but WC is only a 20 min. drive for me so it's better than treking to the city. i ended up buying the sophia clutch in green and i love it. the color is so pretty, more vibrant than on-line. then i got frozen yogurt with my son...:)

i have to say that the service there (WC) is OK. some SA's there are very helpful and some are just so so.

i called the SF store to do a stock check on some stuff and the SA was so incredibly *rude* i couldn't believe it. to the point where i don't want to even patron that store any more. they could learn a lot from the stellar SA's in pleasanton. :)

as for the final sale on line, i haven't noticed anything new and i don't think that making more items be *final sale* is that great anyway...:)

    ReplyDelete
  22. i should add that the rude SA on the phone was at SF downtown at westfield, not the other one.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi! Does anyone know when the Extra 40% in store is ending?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I searched back a ways in this blog and saw that this Final Sale round started about June 18 (loved the post title - "Oh no, Final Sale is Back!"). It has seemed so much longer to me because of the upgrade fiasco.

On another note, has anybody else noticed that the new orders (post-upgrade) no longer have the USPS Smart Label attached to the packing slip? Mine look like they were torn off, the perferation is there but no label. Hmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Interesting observation about the smart label. I sent an order back using a smart label the day before the upgrade began and it was lost. I did get credited for the return though, after many contacts with J Crew.

I had the weirdest red phone experience on Friday. A week ago, a CS told me to use my customer number on future orders. I tried do to that on the red phone, and the girl said they don't use them! So I had to give her every single shred of my personal information AGAIN, including my credit card. I found that annoying. I order enough that they should used saved information for me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. molly: I ordered from the red phone last week, and I had to confirm my info, but I only had to give the last 4 digits of the cc I wanted to use. I wonder why you had to give all info?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wish I knew! She said "we have an all new system and we have to re-enter all customer information." She sounded about 12. Not one of the more seasoned CS's I've had in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I just bought some summerweight cashmere shells from the sale section - are those new? There are a lot of colors available.

    ReplyDelete
  29. jcrewbug: i would go with the darker colors because the lighter colors are see though... you can sometimes even see nude colored bra lines. But I love the fabric. and they are great in the fall over a shirt. I love how light and airy they are! a great choice!

Has anyone tried the pique pant? I wanted a new lounge pants and the Tall might work since a 31 inch inseam certainly wont. Anyone got any opinions I should know about?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think the reason they dont include the smart label on some orders is if they consist of "final sale items". But if you order contains a mixture of final sale and other items, it should have the label included. My recent orders have included the label.

OT, I ordered the jackie cardigan in spicy mustard 3X and each time it was "short shipped". But each time I spoke to CS and they told me that it was not in limited supply. On a positive note, I am looking forward to the Carnaby Carryall in white. I really wanted one when it came out. It is big and comfortable to carry.

BTW, why does the 30% off sale still show but does not work online. It is such a hassle to have to call and place orders. The whole point of online convenience has been taken away by JCrew.

    ReplyDelete
  31. mom-nyc: I don't see the 30% off..I placed a lot of orders since yesterday....Do you think I can call and ask for 30% off. Thanks!
    Anoo

    ReplyDelete
  32. Melanie: I placed an order for the Honey Glaze Jackie cardi and it is showing a Sept. 29th backorder date. Ugh. I want it NOW! LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  33. molly On Friday I spoke to a CS on the phone, it was her first day on the job, she had to put me on hold a couple of times to get help, maybe you spoke to the same rep.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I just got this e-mail at 4;47 a.m. Sunday morning (Pacific Time).
    What's with that?

I didn't really notice any new items, but I did see, for example, that they got the Martine cardigan (the one in the article on whats-her-name the J.Crew designer) back in the pink-orange combo.

The weather turned lousy here so it was cool enough for me to try on my sale sweaters. The boatneck cashmere sweater was a disappointment. The neckline is a box rather than a slit, so the neckline is more dramatic, which is nice, but it's wide enough that I'll have to wear a strapless bra. The fit in the torso was broad and boxy; the cashmere T is much more flattering.

    ReplyDelete
  35. blumre: I have the pique skirt and the material is nice and soft and comfy but I can't report on the pants, sorry. btw, great suggestion on the cashmere shell over a shirt! I always wear mine one way, UNDER cardi's or jackets. This way, I can wear it more ways for longer! (sorry I barged in on the conversation and am now borrowing suggestions) :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. So, I was interested in the Martine Jacket and just called to see if web/catalog was offering any additional discounts on sale items. She put me on hold for a long time and then came back and said no, there were absolutely no further discounts on any sale items and no free shipping codes. Period. She was very polite but she stuck to her guns, even when I said that others were getting phone order discounts to match the store prices. I just said that I guessed I didn't need to buy the sweater that much and hung up.

So, I am just dumbfounded that some Aficiondas are getting additional discounts on phone orders. This girl would not budge.

    ReplyDelete
  37. hexicon: I ordered over the phone this morning and SHOP worked on the shipping and she honored the 40% off that's in the stores, no questions asked! I got two Lily Cardis for $36 each! call them again! btw, LOVE the Martine. What color are you getting?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anyone have the dedicated phone number for cardholders? The account customer service line on the back of my card is *closed* on Sundays?

I called back and the next girl said they'd only match the price for items available in stores after confirming the price with the store. (Martine was only in "select" stores so I doubt I'll be able to reach anyone who has it.)

    ReplyDelete
  39. OT...i received my lucille jacket on friday and really like it. the color is really more of a pear green to me. there is a vibrant brightness to it (like many of jcrew's colors) that can be considered slightly neon but not too much. it is a very different color but it goes with the style of the jacket in my opinion. this color looks *really* nice with black, navy and the teal colors like peacock and sea green of the sophia clutch...more-so than the orange color would in my opinion. actually, it goes with just about any color :) also, i know we were talking about wanting it in different colors...i don't think this jacket would look good in say camel...maybe black. it's just such a unique style with the collar and the lean fit that i think it warrants the brighter colors. it is a *very* chic jacket. at first my DH didn't love the color but he says that it has grown on him...dunno if that's good or bad. ;) my only problem with it is the shoulder seams...the jacket seems to be cut more like a coat so the shoulders are a tad big...i'd like to get them taken in a bit at some point but overall the fit is just fine. if you are able to, you might try sizing down for this one...:)

not sure if this color would work w/light blond hair...mine is darker blond and can get away with it :) if you can wear pear green, give the spiced mustard a try....

    ReplyDelete
  40. Weab, I'm interested in the pink/orange combo.

Did the CSR you talked to have to call the store first?

    ReplyDelete
  41. ccbmum: Congrats on the Lucille! I think you hit it right on with your color description! Btw, I posted in another thread that I saw the same color in "The Book" from Neiman Marcus. It's St. John and the collar is the exact same but it's more of a blazer than a coat.

Also the same book showed a Valentino Cashmere Sweater Jacket in Purple with the SAME collar! J.crew seems to be spot on with their trend spotting/duplicating. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. blumre: thanks for the feedback, i'm looking forward to them (the gray was really low in stock so i'm on pins and needles)

weab: I'm so jealous of your lilys! I got up early and put one in my size in my bag and it disappeared before I called. What colors/size did you get? Do you think if I got up super duper early I might get lucky? haha.

    ReplyDelete
  43. hexicon: They normally do at the very least, make a note of the phone number, but usually call while I hold. However, this time she didn't even ask for the number. Once again, it's the luck of the draw with NO consistency. btw, LOVE the pink/orange, it's so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  44. weab: i saw your post and looked for that jacket online but couldn't find it. do you know if it is online somewhere? i'd love to see it :) it's funny that they did that color combo also...i think that the spiced mustard is actually a very versatile color :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Now I"m on hold with Sandy, who's at least trying to help me. She's calling a few stores.

    ReplyDelete
  46. jcrewbug: LOL! I've been stocking them for weeks and today I pounced when I saw the navy in xs and ivory in small. (I have the bright citron and LOVE it) As soon as I placed my order, they disappeared from my shopping bag. The csr did mention that they were VERY low quantities available so I don't know if I got the only ones they had or if I will get short-shipped on them afterall. I'll keep you posted.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sandy rocks! She called a couple of stores for me and confirmed the 40% off. I was so excited that I forgot to ask for free shipping. Interestingly, after being unable to reach the WA stores she said she'd better try the Portland store, because that seemed "likely," so I think there may be a "geographic plausibility" test.

She was also about 10 times nicer and more friendly than the first two CSRs I spoke with.

Now I just have to figure out what the heck I'm going to wear with this? Can I wear it over a black dress for work?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Also, Sandy did caution me that inventory was very low, so I am prepared in case something goes wrong. This was totally a luxury item for me, not an essential, so I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't make it. Maybe I am just hoping that it will make me look tall and glamorous like Jenna Lyons.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Cristin - Yes, I'm from the east bay. The merchandise in Walnut Creek can be good, but the service is spotty or non-existent. I left out the part about how the greeter ignored me the entire time I roamed the front of the store. She had a completely different personality when I made a purchase at the register. The service in Pleasanton can't be beat. They are all dolls. Did you go to the factory store in Vacaville?

FFM -- Those are items *I* hadn't seen before. Given the imperfections in the website we have probably seen different loads at different times.

ccbmum - That's funny! Maybe we were walking around WC at the same time. I was there around 4:30p. *lol* I agree that the SF/Westfield store doesn't have it together. I never want to buy anything there because they ignore me. When I was there a couple weeks ago a SA literally ran towards a woman at the front of the store to greet her. It was bizarre. They have been nice in the fitting room on occasion, but haven't treated me like I was going to purchase anything. So I never have. I haven't been to Stonestown. I saw the Lucille in WC and I agree on your description of it. The color isn't good for my skin, but I would have never thought to pair it with the peacock. Good call.

Anonymous - I don't know when the extra 40% in store is ending. You could try calling your b&m, but they may claim to not know.

Hexicon - Great details on the boatneck cashmere. I was very curious about it, but sounds like it won't work w/my body type.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I wish they had that color combo in L or XL! For work, I would wear it with a white button down shirt and black pencil skirt and pearls.

    ReplyDelete
  51. ccbmum:it doesn't seem to be showing on-line on Neiman's or the St. John site. I'll post if it does show up at some point. (I think right now, the items in the book are only in select stores.)

    ReplyDelete
  52. gigiofca: i was there around 11 AM. we'll probably run into eachother sometime in pleasanton since they know both of us there ;)

hi cristin: i live in the east bay too :) yes, walnut creek has better merchandise than pleasanton but the SA's are much nicer in pleasanton. i live closer to pleasanton so i always go to that one first...but i've discovered that WC has the good stuff like bags and nicer items so i'll go there for those things.

i'm pretty much boycotting the SF at westfield one unless their SA's get more friendly...way too much attitude at that one ;)

    ReplyDelete
  53. weab: thanks for checking! i'll keep an eye out too :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. gigiofca: That is really probably actually possible, since several of us have actually experienced seeing different "versions" of the web while all on at the same time! I wouldn't be at all surprised if we have different items uploaded on different days and different times since I am on the East Coast and you are on the West Coast...very weird...I wonder if you have also seen "new" items that I haven't seen yet... :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. gigiofca: I'm sorry to hear about your poor service. A couple of weeks ago I received the same sort of attitude. However, the last couple of times I've been in there I've received excellent costumer service. They actually STARTED a fitting room with me (crazy!) Usually in WC I wait 10 minutes in the fitting room before I become so annoyed that I have to ask them to open one for me. I think WC SAs are total hit and miss. Funny how they began to smile when you actually proved you were a customer. I think the trick is in Walnut Creek is to always wear a Jcrew piece---that way they know you are serious. Ha, shouldn't have to be that way, but it is.

And I went to the factory store in Gilroy. I went to Carmel for the day (such a cute Jcrew there) and my friend and I decided to check out the outlets. HORRIBLE!

ccbmum: hi! yeah, I like the Walnut Creek one for the fact that they do carry bags and more merchandise. Plus its women's only, which I like. And I couldn't agree with your more about the SAs in SF. They are horrendous! No one would even look at me, or greet me!

    ReplyDelete
  56. gigiofca: Also...so sorry if my first statement sounded "know it all" like...it wasn't meant that way at all! :) My apologies if it came across as being abrupt!

ccbmum: CONGRATS on the Lucille! It sounds really beautiful from all the despcriptions on here from everyone...wish I looked good in Spicy Mustard! :(\

    ReplyDelete
  57. ffm - My heart skipped a beat to think that we may be seeing different new items. *lol*

What do you think about the jersey Adelaide dress 96959? I thought of you as it comes in honey glaze. It seems like an easy item to throw on & accessorize for what I call upscale casual.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I still have the 30% off showing on the sale site. And yesterday I ordered some things with the 30% by calling them in.

I dont know why it shows for some and not others. They did tell me that they are working on removing it...and it should not show.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Weab, thanks for the review!

No barging in at all. BTW I also find cashmere shells great in winter under jackets. I find they always keep me comfortable warm but not too hot. Same with the cashmere t's. Overall I think its pretty much the best $ you can spend.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hey Guys,

I need your expert opinions. I am thinking about ordering the ecole jacket now.

With the 20% off plus my educator's discount it should come to about $110 dollars. It is currently priced at $168 as you all know.

Now, I need you all to think strategically.

1, when do you think it will go one sale? If at all... though the bellas even went on sale last year

2, Do you think the first sale price will be 119.99 109.99 or 99.99? Judging from other similarly priced items (optical print jacket) it will probably go to $119 first right? What do you think??

So should I act now and use the discounts that I have or should I pounce later?

    TIA!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. blumre: lately, i've been buying new stuff full price or with %20 off's here and there if i really love the item. i hate waiting for a sale if i really love something. it sounds like you have some good discounts to apply. you know it will go on sale for possibly lower than what you pay now...but ig you buy now you will have it now it and can move on. i've been burned by the "waiting for the sale" game so many times before and they run out of my size...if you love the ecole, i say go for it...you will at least be getting a pretty good deal on it now :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. ccbmum-

Thanks for your excellent Lucille review-I'm so jealous. I'm waiting for a 20% off anything sale....there has to be one soon right? I didn't experience any web order problems, and my main store is the SF Westfield 'attitude' store, so my chances of getting a SA to call and get me 20% off the orange one is pretty low.

I have received my lastest order, and have to give raves to the cashmere T in heather peony. What a pretty color! I'm a pale brunette, and this color is really flattering on me, although I think it would look equally so on a blond that is fair or pale. I had no interest in these T's when they were a cap sleeve, but this new cut has regular T sleeves as well as a longer torso length. Now I want more of course!

The city fit surplus chino's are very nice and fairly true to size....I don't think there are too many left though, as they've gone down to 19.99.

The featherweight cotton pleated top was a great buy @ 13.99, and is very cute. I'm waiting for an actual hot day to wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  63. ccbmum: thanks yea.. I know I just hate the idea of getting something now and not being able to wear it until at least the jewish high holy days at the end of september... who knows maybe it will be cold september though and I could wear it by the 15th or something.

Maybe when my PS is back at work on tuesday I will e-mail her about it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. sweetlily: thanks! it can't hurt to ask about the %20 off at the SF store. i would try...the worst they could do is say no (with attitude :)). plus you'll get free shipping. try to pick one of the nice associates...*sometimes* there is one there ;)

blumre: yea...i guess it just depends on how much you like it :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. ccbmum: Thanks so much for posting your review of the Lucille. You made it sound so good! :)

I showed it to my husband in the catalog and he said, "Oh honey, I really don't think I like that!" and then my two year old son said "Yeah no like it!" :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. also, i forgot to mention here (i posted in another string) that the lucille jacket is $275 at the sf store (it's $285 online). :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. fI finally received the email this morning...very much after the fact, and I wish JCrew would be a bit more proactive about it. It's hard to get excited about old news or no news.

ccbmum/gigiofca - it's a bit of a trek for me to the stores near you, but if I were to make a trip out one day, which store would you recommend - WC or one of the SF ones? I want to see (and feel- is that crazy?) the Lucille, but am lusting after other fall items too. I'd be looking at best selection and best SAs for my "me" day. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  68. traci: thanks! LOL. that's what my husband said at first...but that's his first reaction to everything i show him! :) he actually likes it now...go figure. my almost 4 year old doesn't like buttons on anything so he didn't like it either ;) it's definitely different...but that's what i was looking for :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. As I have stated in other posts I got the Lucille and LOVE it! I have light blonde hair and it does not clash wit the color! Yay. I am excited because I think that there are many color combinations that will work with the Spicy Mustard color. I love this jacket sooo much that I will probably get the Orange one once they go on sale! I took a 0 and it fit me well. I would recommend that before dismissing the Spicy Mustard color try it on and you may be surprised at how nice it looks...I know that I most certainly was! :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. ccbmum: Yeah, a standout piece - definitely!

I really need to see it in person 'though. I have three stores around me (Seattle area) but haven't been able to make it to the ones that have it. I need a trip by myself. I just head into Jcrew with my son and he yells, "NO! No this store!"

    ReplyDelete
  71. hi all! if anyone's still trying to get the 40% off... just got off the phone with amanda, who was the nicest SA i've ever had! she gave me 40% off after calling my local store, the 15% educator's discount, and even though the computer was glitchy and didn't honor "shop," she waived shipping for me. call her now! :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. gigiofca: The Adelaide dress is really cute, but I don't think it would work for me, personally. I tend to look better in more structured pieces that accentuate my waist, so I don't think the Adelaide dress would be very flattering on me...it does look very easy to wear, though. Are you considering it?

    ReplyDelete
  73. blumre - 'Now I want you to all think strategically.' That cracked me up. I agree w/ccbmum. You have to act fast on the things you want. If you were going to be able to wear it asap, I would say get it now. But I can see how you would gamble for a lower price.

Cristin - I had on the ruffled henly! I haven't been to any of the Gilroy outlets. Probably bad merch since it's a farm community. I'm going to try the Vacaville Nut Tree factory store for kicks. It may not be for a few weeks, but I'll definitely post when I do.

FFM - Thanks for the sweet clarification msg. You were fine. :-) I try to read anything online/via email without too much emphasis on my en since it's easy to misconstrue things.

sweetlily - I just recvd a cashmere tee in mandarin orange. I LOVE mine, too. Yours sounds very pretty with your coloring. I also got the city fit surplus but they may end up in our swap exchange here because low rise really isn't for me. Too bad because I adore the rear pockets. You should layer your cotton pleated under a cardigan. Don't wait. :-)

sweetlily - I would also pursue the issue again. If being nice doesn't work, flip and be a little rude. Sadly some people only respond to being treated poorly.

Amethyst - If you're dedicated, you can go to both WC & SF in the same day. Not sure where you're coming from, but you could park near one, visit it and then BART to the other one, BART back and drive home. If the drive is that long, make it worth your while. You can email me gigiofca@gmail and I can go into more detail based on where you're driving from.

    ReplyDelete
  74. so gigiofca, you would say get it now and you would not gamble right?

I do feel that you need to be very strategic with Jcrew and honestly shopping anywhere. I always as myself is this 1, worth the price? 2. is there a better price somewhere else? I hate getting the "doh" moments and thinking i should have waited.

Buy maybe i will get one color of the ecole and then get another when it goes on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  75. blumre: I think the sales will start at the end of August...my store is supposed to get new stuff in a couple of weeks, which means the merchandise they have now will get marked down, and with that first markdown will probably be the Ecole. You could always get it now and then if the price is DRASTICALLY reduced take it back to get the new price (if the tags are still on)...who knows...you may only save $20 if you wait, and then they may not have the color you want. It sounds like you REALLY, REALLY want it...so as a fellow enabler, I say you should go for it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. ffm - From what I gathered you're tiny, so I figured it might not work. It's in your favorite color so I thought I'd point it out. :-) I don't think ruffles at the hem will look good on my height, 5'2". However, I have tried on many of their dresses and been really surprised. I got the jersey bateau 95804 in slate. Looks good with a collared blouse underneath it as well as on its own.

    ReplyDelete
  77. gigiofca-

Haha! I wish I could be stern and rude....I just can't. I'm from Minnesota, and we all have the waytoonice gene running through our blood, lol. I can be snarky, though....I wonder if that would work?

I feel that Lucille will stay available through sales because of the colors. If it came in oatmeal or graphite or black, I think it would be moving like the Ava did last year....fast. I hope I'm right.

I love those cashmere T's. I'd never pay 118.00, but 55.99 was great deal. I have waaaay too much J Crew cashmere, probably close to 40 or more. Since I am always cold, I have an obsession with the cashmere cable turtlenecks that come out during the holidays. I would be scared to add up what I've spent on these! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  78. FFM: I totally agreed with your response to blumre about the ecole jacket! I thought it was a very well thought out comment.

And blumre: As another enabler, would you rather save the $20 or spend the next year kicking yourself if it happens to sell out in your size? My PS told me that they plan on getting new items in early Sept. so FFM is probably right about stuff getting marked down at the end of August. If you time it right, you could probably buy it soon and then get a price adjustment. Can you ask your PS to put it on hold for you but tell her you can't make it in for another 3 - 4 days?

  80. blumre - I sent you a gmail.

Hello Katie button cardigan sweater owners...did you find the fit true to size? What was the original price? Sour lemon owners what's your hair coloring? I see some on eBay and am thinking about getting one.

    ReplyDelete
  81. gigiofca: I absolutely love the sour lemon color and own several pieces of J Crew clothing in that very color. I am a blonde (light) and it works not only with my hair color, but also with my tan. :)
Let me also add that it looks great with khaki shorts and capris.

    ReplyDelete
  82. jcrewjunkie: it's great that you can wear the spiced mustard lucille with light blond hair! :) it's good to know it works. one of the SA's in walnut creek said it didn't work on her...she had light blond hair...maybe it was her skin color? i don't know...or maybe it's just too bold of a color for some people. in any case congrats on being able to wear it!

amethyst: downtown SF you'll have more other shops for your *me* day :) :)...i love being downtown but the WC one is more relaxed. the WC one is in a really nice area with very nice shops also. both stores seem to have the same stuff. you can park for free in WC at the macy's lot. hmmm. as far as going just to look at the lucille i would just go to the WC one...it's a nice relaxing outdoor shopping center. but if you want a nice day downtown then head to the city :) hope this helps! also, you could call to see which one has your size...might help in your decision :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Blumre-

Honestly, Ecole doesn't flatter everyone.....not at all. Plus they made it in so many fabrics. I think it will go on sale. Are you a size that sells out fast? I know 4's & 6's move quickly. Is it a popular color?

Most people in temparate and cold climates buy this type of jacket for beauty AND warmth.....it has to be practical. Buttons would have made it warmer. I really feel this will go through steady markdowns, culminating in a January feeding frenzy where be able to get certain colors for around 60.00 or even less.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Make that "where You'll be able."

    ReplyDelete
  85. sweetlily - Try snarky. Sounds like this is bothering you, so I hope you go for it. I'm sure you'll be giving JCrew way more business in the future than this 20% discount they're cutting you.

Do you experience pilling on your cashmere tees?

jcrewjunkie - Thanks. I'll probably get one in the sour lemon. It's going to be warm here through late Sept, early Oct, so I'm mostly still in summer mode. Navy is a nice color to pair with it as well. Do you happen to remember the original retail?

    ReplyDelete
  86. gigiofca-

It's not bothering me...I'm just jealous of all the discounts, lol, it's Ok though.

I am obsessed with Lucille right now, because it looks like a designer piece, like something that, with nicer buttons, would be 1100.00 at Saks or something, and has a great combination of timeless, elegant, and striking. I'm pretty confident I'll get it on sale.

Yes-the cashmere pills...some sweaters worse than others. I carefully shave it with a little fabric shaver. I rarely pay full price, although I did for the gray cable t-neck last december, as it was selling super fast. I wear it all the time. Other than a few long sleeve Ts and most of the cable t-necks, my cashmere was all bought final sale. I really want to pick up something in heather plum and honey glaze this year, but I won't going as crazy with the cashmere buying this year.

    ReplyDelete
  87. traci: that's funny about your son. i usually have to promise mine one of those coin operated kiddy rides or some treat like frozen yogurt afterwards...he usually will let me go to jcrew first then. :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Blumre, my husband and I have a question we ask each other in this situation: "Is it a duck tie?" Mr. Hex is still pining for an LL Bean duck tie that he did not purchase back in *college* and if I happen to be whining about a fashion/sale dilemma he asks whether it's a duck tie. Sometimes, yes, sometimes no. The Martine I ordered today was not really a duck tie but it was a good markdown.

What color Ecole do you want? My $.02 is that you should buy it with the discounts you have now. Maybe it's just me, but I would be surprised to see any markdowns soon on new fall stuff, other than these #$%@ing "secret sales.". IIRC last year they didn't run a private sale until October and of course that's not any better than the 20% that J.Crew is allowing to the select few.

I am getting a little worried about the eggplant tie cardigan given that some have reported it's been sold out in their size, but I am still sufficiently peeved that I'm not full price shopping right now (um, except for that t-shirt). I'm trying to get a store appointment with a personal shopper. I think the only way I'm going to get good, fair prices from J.Crew is to develop a relationship with a PS in B&M store.

    ReplyDelete
  89. hexicon: i think that is a good strategy.

I stil have enough on my gift card to allow me to get the jacket and still have enough $ let over. I might split it between my promo gift cards and my $. I think thats the way to go!

OK OK ENABLERS I WILL EMAIL MY PS ON TUESDAY AND DO IT!!! (not that you really had to twist my arm to do so).

Thanks guys! I am very excited to do this :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. blumre-don't quote me, but
I am pretty sure Ecole was also on secret sale for $148 from $168, along with the wool fiona. The PS had on the tawny olive (greenish color I think) and it looked great on her. It made me give it a 2nd glance. I will probably wait on it though...she said people are scared of the honey glaze color because paired with brown they look like a Century 21 agent, get it ?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Caw which store were you at? In NYC or on LI? Well that would make it even more fun if it were on sale.

You guys are the best! Have I said that yet? If I haven't I should have said it a long time ago and if I have, consider this a reaffirmation! Thanks for all your help!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Does anyone have the short sleeve cashmere tee at their store? I am looking for a pink one, but also wanted to know if it is part of the 40% sale. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  93. ccbmum and gigiofca- thanks so much for the advice. I called into customer service and they asked if I wanted to purchase on pre-sale. They didn't even know that the Lucille was available for purchase, so looks like I will be heading out to WC.

    ReplyDelete
  94. blumre: I got the Ecole in Honey Glaze in a Petite size and didn't like the way it gathered under my arms. I reordered in a regular size and absolutely love it. I personally got the velvet because it is not heavy and will be the perfect jacket to wear to my son's football games (it is even the perfect color!) I got one of the beaded tees to go with it, and the hipslung jeans. Although I LOVE clutches (and love the clutch that is shown with it in the catalog) I will be carrying my trusty LV Cabas Piano because it goes with everything. :) Oh wait...I may also carry my new Coach bag (thanks again, ffm).

    ReplyDelete
  95. gigiofca: I got mine on Ebay and paid $49.99 plus $5.00 Priority shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  96. blumre-try LI, that's where I was-I would hope it would be the same in NYC but maybe not. 631-360-8938

    ReplyDelete
  97. I got some goodies today at the store...cord jacket that was already on sale. I also got the dream tie sweater in honey glaze. I didn't think I would like it...but boy I loved it when I tried it on! Hubby got pants and a belt (way less exciting...ha ha!).

    ReplyDelete
  98. Just fyi ladies, my store had the cashmere Olivia Shell on sale with the add. 40% off. Came to 59.99. Bellevue Wa if you want to pm. It fits great too, the u-neck is not too low :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. blumre-what color are you getting?
also, the PS is Nancy if you get some clueless person on the phone...
shannee-what a steal! what color did you get? what are you going to wear it with?

    ReplyDelete
  100. jcrewjunkie: you just described my polyvore outfit! (I have the beaded tee too! Tough one bead already fell off, I am kind of bummed with the quality.) http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=2674081

Yes, I am getting the velvet, I dont like jcrews wool jackets. For the most part they are just too itchy :(

Thanks CAW, I will call them tomorrow. Its too late now. I want the sweet papaya color. It looked so good with my dark hair and it made my complexion look extra rosy.

But, fyi, they navy looks kind of blah on the website, in the store it looked like sapphire. I loved it.

Thanks again guys for all your help. Really, you are all simply fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  101. MommaDoli - I did not mean my comments in a rude way. I almost felt bad when I learned Pleasanton doesn't carry cashmere. What's wrong with Pleasanton? I guess if it doesn't sell it doesn't sell. Regarding Gilroy, there has been a lot of growth and the farming juxtaposition still exists. I'm not implying that there is anything wrong with farmers or farming. The city's roots are in it. Same for Livermore and same for the city I live in. I see a huge difference in the merch here than in another city only 20 mi away from me. Keep enjoying the blog. Eveyone here is all about JCrew and having fun. No bad vibes. ((hugs)) Sorry you felt that way. If you want to discuss it further you can email me gigiofca@gmail.

jcrewjunkie - Thanks for the pricing info on the Katie. I'm going to go for it, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  102. good luck blumre! they should honor the price in manhattan, I would think...I like that color, I actually saw the navy in the window and did think it was a beautiful color. Has anyone bought the SOIREE jacket? It is so pretty I think but SO costly...why oh why?

    ReplyDelete
  103. jcrewjunkie - Did you find the Katie true to size?

All-- The photo of the Soiree jacket in heather gray does not do it justice. I was stunned when I saw it in person yesterday. The gray really sets off the rhinestone bead buttons! I didn't try it on. I was scared I would like it and $250 is steep for what is essentially a cropped sweater. I don't think it's lined.

    ReplyDelete
  104. that is steep for what is a sweater, i don't know, is it the buttons? maybe it will go on sale....

    ReplyDelete
  105. Jcrew's final sale is ridiculous. I was eyeing some suiting pieces that show up under the sale portion of the website, but automatically go back to full price once you add them to your cart. I called CS and asked if they would honor the sale price, since it's listed under the sale section, and the CS rep (who was a complete ditz - I swear my IQ dropped 20 points just listening to her talk) said that it was only for certain (and already sold out) colors, and that they hadn't updated their system yet. I feel like if they advertise it in the sale section, the should honor the price, not blame it on their system, especially since it's been a while since the whole overhaul. Jcrew's website is a joke, and at least in the past they've honored erroneous sale prices.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Caw- yea I feel like I should make friends with the PS at my store (he gave me his number and everything and promised to help me with whatever he could).

But I also feel like I wouldn't be being fair to my PS through the catalog if I didn't place the order through her.

However, I have a freaking remote teleconference all week so I have to be at my computer from 11-6 everyday and I still have to be in the office at 8 so I can get all my work done. So getting downtown might not happen this week. :-/

I will call Columbus circle and see if they have the "secret sale" and then talk to the PS and see what he can do for me tomorrow and maybe I will make it down there one day this week. He could also hold it for me I would bet and honor the price at the time i want it. If not I will just call my PS and ask her to place the order for me.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I also purchased the velvet ecole in honey glaze and loved it. I didn't like it the first time I tried it on but now just can't wait for the weather to cooperate. I also got the grey fiona which is terribly itchy but if I keep the top button open and wear a crewneck I should be fine. I just need to get the peacock patent leather tote bag (store only) and should be set for fall. I bought the yellow tote already and received a lot of complements on it. I love these bags!

    ReplyDelete
  108. blumre: I'm missed out on some convo but I'm gathering from a quick peruse that you are buying an Ecole jacket. My store was having a promo for I think 148 along with 158 for the herringbone fiona. Would you like me to call them in the AM? What color and size are you looking for?

My eyes are tired and I can't keep up with all these posts!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. For those of you who live in NYC. I was at Montmartre today and they have a quilted leather bag (its patent and I am pretty sure the leather was fake-- but it still looked good and felt nice) and it looks similar to the tumbled leather quincy tote. The BEST part was that this one is only $118 dollars. I saw it in red and green.

    ReplyDelete
  110. jcrewbug that is so sweet of you. No thats ok. I will call around NYC tomorrow. Since two stores seem to be doing it I doubt it would be a problem for them to honor that price. Thank you. You sound completely exhausted, its sunday night, go relax and get some rest. Out of curiosity which store was it.

Thanks so much you guys are all fantastic!

OK I am being bugged to go get tasti-d-lite (my favorite thing about being back in NYC-- I love chocolate flavored ice that is basically like eating the best frozen air ever!) We have to go before madmen starts!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Caw- I got the Brillant Blue. I think for warm weather I am going to wear it with my khaki godet skirt and maryjanes. I'm going to polyvore it now to sort out a fall look :)

I saw the Soiree today too, the buttons are stunning but no way I'm paying that for a sweater!
I also saw the blue jacket with the ruffles and baubles in the fall look book. It was pretty but too over the top for me

    ReplyDelete
  112. blumre: I need a night off - my dissertation can't wait. It's either sleep or look at J Crew's website in my spare time. We both know which one I do :)

The store was Westlake Ohio. 440-250-8924

    ReplyDelete
  113. shannee-that sounds pretty! I live near a lux store that has all the cash so may check it out, I like the short sleeve cardi too. That should go on sale soon...yes, glad you agree about the Soiree, it is really pricey..but pretty :)
blumre-I forgot you have an off site PS! I am sure they will hook you up. Work definitely interferes with this blog, shopping!! I am really jealous of your tasti d lite trip...really jealous

    ReplyDelete
  114. jcrewbug:you sound like me 4 months ago when I was finishing my master's thesis... I procrastinated for so many hours by looking at Jcrew clothes. Goodness, and I think of how much more sleep I could have gotten. Thanks for you help. Dont forget to take care of yourself though.

OK I swear I am going now!!! Tasti is calling my name.

    Bye guys

    ReplyDelete
  115. shannee - I saw the blue jacket, too and it is a bit much for me stylewise as well. The blue was very pretty, though. It's a showpiece.

blumre - I LOVE Madmen. Love it.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Gigiofca/Blumre--I love "Madmen" too. I am nuts for that early-60s aesthetic. That's why I was so disappointed in the Abby jacket--was really hoping for that retro vibe.

    CAW--"Century 21," LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  117. gigiofca: Yes, I found the Katie to be a perfect fit. I got the XS and I am 5'4" and weigh 100 pounds. Hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
  118. blumre: I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Polyvore outfit. I really did like the velvet Ecole so much that I got it in the Sweet Papaya (same beaded tee) as well as the Honey Glaze. Great minds think alike! :)

ALSO...why didn't you tell me about this fabulous chocolate Tasti-Treat when I was in NYC? Your description made me DROOL!!! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  119. jcrewjunkie: I made a few outfits with the Tee. It actually looks like my dog that passed away in just and I just made another work outfit using the ecole.

Wow we do think alike! I am thrilled to hear you like it so much.

Sorry-- next time you come to NYC you will know to hunt down a tasti-d-lite. There are days I dont feel like eating lunch and I know there are virtually no calories in it so I have it to tide me over until dinner (I am a sick, sick person-- but the stuff is amazing).

    ReplyDelete
  120. oh my god that last post wasn't even english. sorry!!!!!

My dog passed in june not just. OY Vey

time for bed for me. night night all

    ReplyDelete
  121. musthavejcrew - I have the piper tank in the grey/silver color, size 8. I've removed the tags but never even tried it on (I have 2 other colors, so I knew it fit. It is lovely, but just not my color.) If you are interested in it, drop me an email at alishanospam@gmail.com (sorry this isn't in the weekly extravaganza post - I wanted to be sure you saw it!)

    ReplyDelete
  122. hexicon-I know isn't that funny? That's what the PS told me she and the manager were laughing about. Now I can't get that out of my head with the honey glaze :)

    ReplyDelete
  123. So I just bit this morning, thinking well maybe the e-mail was saying that they were going to add new items when the site reloaded... nope! Nothing! There is even less than yesterday. I feel pathetic :(

    ReplyDelete
  124. Caw: I called LI and the velvet ecole is not on promotion.

Jcrewbug: I called the ohio store and they said they knew of the secret sale but couldn't do my educator discount plus the 20% card that I still have from the store. He said he would waive the shipping but I called my PS in NYC....

AND I got it for 96 bucks with 20% off and my 15% off. I am going down this afternoon after work.

Thanks to my rockstars for helping me.

The Ecole is indeed on secret sale!

    ReplyDelete
  125. blumre: Congrats! You'll have to let us know after you get it. Isn't it strange how some will accomodate and some will not? I know we've discussed this many times, but I wish they'd get their policy decided and then let all of their employees know!

    ReplyDelete
  126. blumre-so let me get this straight, they told you NO on LI? I don't get it, why do they not tell people the truth. Thank god for your PS. 96 bucks is SWEET! As much as a tartine!!!! Congrats to you. You may just have to wear it, the temp is below 80, so what if it's August!

    ReplyDelete
  127. I KNOW YAYYAYAYAYYAYAY!

I am only having a minor flip out!

    ReplyDelete
  128. blumre: That is FABULOUS!!! That price makes it even better that you didn't wait...CONGRATULATIONS!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  129. yea Caw I know its very weird. They said no its full price. I was very bummed out. But luckily it all worked out.

Jcrew for the love of god please standardize your policies!!!

    ReplyDelete
  130. that is weird, I agree with all of you, that drives me crazy, this inconsistent pricing. I will say it again, if they advertised or promoted their deals, I would be very tempted TO BUY MORE but with all this BS it's a huge negative!
I am offended that my home store did not give an aficionada the deal! Boycott! The Mgr rolled her eyes at me when I was there and did everything in her power to charge me more last week!

    ReplyDelete
  131. I Know ahhh!

And its actually freezing outside today. I am wearing my madras jacket today and I was even a little chilly in my heels and walking shorts as I went to lunch. So maybe if we go out tonight I will wear it.

AHHHH I am soooo excited. You have no idea. You guys were right on the not waiting. Plus I will have to have an extra hook and eye closure attached. Maybe I will trek to my tailor tomorrow and have it done ;)

    ReplyDelete
  132. CAW what a snooty woman! I talked to a woman, I dont know if she was a manager but she sure did have a stick up her butt. She did have the WORST long island accent though... so that made me feel better. She does after all have to go through her life speaking like that (note: no offense to anyone who has the accent-- I have tried very hard to avoid the NY accent and I think I have almost escaped it.)

    ReplyDelete
  133. If you waited it would not have been half as fun or as exciting!!! Plus, you got a "sale price" anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  134. If you waited it would not have been half as fun or as exciting!!! Plus, you got a "sale price" anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  135. That's what I was wondering, who was it??? I think I may know b/c she is a new manager and gave me a hard time last week. I know the rest of them in there and they are pretty okay...I was like listen lady, I know more about Jcrew than you so shut up and listen! I agree, the LI accent is really scary. Fortunately I don't have one either, ie. "MAWWWWWWWL"

    ReplyDelete
  136. Yea... well as much as I love the MAWL on lonGGGiland I would rather ride a hawse in New Yowrk any day over going to the mawl ;)

So I went out of LI a few weeks ago and everyone has a fake coach something on. It really turned me off of ever wanting to buy coach again. All of a sudden the brand became tacky to me, which is sad because I own a lot of it since a good friend of mine used to work in their design department :(

  137. yes, i am sure you saw a lot of fake coach and everything else. I feel like coach isn't what it used to be, too many knock offs. LI has some scary parts, that's for sure! I live wayyy out east in the country (of lawg iwland) so it's a much more mellow

  138. yea Caw: that part of LI is nice and I used to go to Fire Island every weekend as a kid. But I was helping my friend look for an apt near hofstra and I was absolutely grossed out. There are parts that are totally not nice... I guess I knew it, but I had never been, I was shocked. I kept asking myself why people wanted to live there?

Also I know I am really bummed about about coach lately... they seem to have just gone the tacky route. :(

Sorry for so much off topic stuff. The excitement is kind of overwhelming!

  139. yes, sorry all, we ny'ers are off topic. Fire island is really nice, it's so much more happening these days...I agree, I don't know why people live on LI if given the choice!

Anyway, what time is the expected pick up for the ecole??

  140. Well I am leaving work in 20 minutes (I love summer hours--of course for the rest of this week I am working 8-6 because of a remote connect conference I have to attend). Then I will go for a run in the park which will probably take me 50 minutes or so cause it just poorred here. And then I will have to shower. So by the time I actually get down to columbus circle it will probably be 6 p.m. BUT I will be very excited.

  145. such a small world, jcrew mommy!
I am not so so familiar with all the towns in Nassau Cty but there are definitely overcrowded run down areas I think of LI, that said there are beautiful lush gorgeous areas as well. I think there are nicer parts of Uniondale still, don't quote me though...I am actually going to see Bruce Hornby tonite in that area, I will scope it out :) I will say, I bet it's changed here in 16 years, defintely MORE PEOPLE!

  146. jcrewmommy: my friend is a 3rd year law student out there and needed a new apartment so I went looking with her. Yea, I am not gonna lie there are some pretty sketchy parts. I had never been out there before, but it doesn't seem like a place that I would want to live.

I have also never seen so much cigarette smoke, fake coach, fake hair and fake nails in NY state in my entire life. Its sad but it completely turned me off of coach :(

  147. blumre is correct, it's pretty nasty for lack of a better word in many places.....lives up to it's bad rep!

  148. However, Caw is right! There are some completely gorgeous parts of LI. The hamptons can be a little snotty for my taste. But I love Montauk, parts of the north shore, robert moses beach and Fire Island. So LI is not all bad... just the part that everyone passes through to get to the nice parts ;)

  149. blumre-I actually live in the hamptons year round but totally agree, the locals are great, it's all the visitors which make it unbearable, we hide in the summer and in the winter it's wonderful. I love montauk (Mickey has a house there!)because pretty much all year it's mellow. Sag harbor used to be mellow but no so much. AND, there are 2 hamptons jcrews out there. They call them "jcrew at the beach" but it means nothing really (it means that they don't ticket their items if they are on sale, it's an "image" thing the say) The stores are tiny and unless you are looking for something hard to find it's better to go to the MAWL-------
