This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend (to take advantage of the "additional 40% off" on the new sale items or to see the additional Fall arrivals), maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the sale items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts, which by the way "thank you!" :) I really love how helpful we are for each other!
I don't know -- I want to get the cord skirt in petite, and I'm hearing it's on sale in the B&M - I'm tempted to just go in and ask them to call the CS for me.
ReplyDeleteI think I will ... only because I wanted to return an item. :) And maybe to check to see if my sale section has any fall items for sale.
ReplyDeleteI went to Walnut Creek and these item numbers were on sale and an additional 40% off.
ReplyDelete96652
97083 $79.99
95243 $49.99
97336 $59.99
96538 $99.99
98709 $69.99
97631 $39.99
Amelia tank $29.99
Sorry I didn't write down the item names, but I take so long as it is in the rooms I don't want them to think I'm doing something weird.
From recollect the items included the cord peplum jacket (very cute in deep deep navy, 1st time I tried it on), cashmere olivia tank sweater, swiss dot annette blouse and I'm sure I'm forgetting some things. I purchased the seaside dress 98709 in black and fog (grey) for $69.99 + 40%. I don't think I tried it on at regular price because it didn't look exciting on the hanger. The cord peplum was surprisingly tempting at $89.99 + 40%, but I already have a ton of jackets & coats so I passed.
I saw the boot vintage cords at $69.50. I did *not* see the matchstick cords on sale. And there was no sale signage on the very cute ruffle henley 96834. I like shopping sale here but not regular price. A couple of people on the staff are getting nicer but the vibe isn't there for me to throw down for regular price. I will do it at other stores, though. At any rate, it was 100+ today, so the ruffle open cardi 97467 can wait. It's SO cute on! That's the new one in the most recent catalog. The cashmere pullover 97468 will *not* make you look maternityish, imo. I liked it quite a bit.
Hey -- who has tried on the Georgia dress 96707? TIA
ReplyDeleteI went tonight to beat the rush. There were some fall additions to the sale rack at 40% off. Some of the new graphic tees, the shirt that is featured with the dark fog bella in the catalog in lots of colors, the belle skirt in rhubarb and the bright blue. There were many boatneck terrys left, some drawstring sweats, gray polka dot dresses, suit pants (unlined), odds and ends.
ReplyDeletejcrewbug...that reminds me...I saw the following t-shirts on sale as well -- the gray one w/the 2 dogs, the gray one w/the white tissue 'writing,' the creme colored one with the paint tube and a couple others.
ReplyDeleteI'm still not sure...we've got a busy weekend, so I'm not sure I'll be able to get to the mall. It doesn't sound as if my b&m has that much to offer at the extra 40% anyways, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI might hit the outlets but I will be far from a J.Crew this weekend and far from a computer. So I look forward to hearing everyone else's great finds when I come back. I doubt I will find anything at the outlet, I never do. But if I do I will let you all know on monday.
ReplyDeleteGigiofca: Did you try on the Ruffled jersey seaside dress (98709)? I was wondering what you thought of it.
No, taking a short vacation so won't be at a JCrew....hope everyone else has fun...now if online has an extra percent off I will be there to shop!
ReplyDeleteI"m going to try at some point. We have a crazy busy weekend but I'm hoping I can sneak in a quick trip (w/ toddler at home w/ hubby!!!).
ReplyDeleteI did order a couple of things online. Some shorts I love that my store never got, capri sandals (have one pair and love), yoga workout tank and a bracelet.
hi all. I just wanted to clear up a common point of confusion regarding sale items vs. Promotional items. Customers always confuse these two, and rightly so! An item on promotion is temporarily marked down, whereas a sale item is permanently marked down. The way you can tell the difference at J. Crew is that the prices on sale items end in 99 cents, whereas promo prices end usually in 00 or 50. Also, promo prices are not combined with any of the additional percentages taken off sale items, as technically, they are not on sale. I know the website puts promo prices in the sale section, or at least they used to. I don't know why but I know it is confusing! So if you go this weekend, know that the cords that are currently $69.50 will not be 40% off. You might know this already, but I know our store has had a lot of inquiries about this lately and I thought it might help. There are lots of great promos AND sales going on right now, so come check them out!
ReplyDeletegigiofca - was the cashmere pullover on sale? I'm glad to hear the good review on it - I've got my eye on that one and am hoping to get to the b&m today to try it on.
ReplyDeleteEveryone: Thanks for sharing what items are on sale at your local store- I really appreciate it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGigiofCa: Thank you so much for letting us know about all those sale items!!! That is awesome of you. :)
Anon at 9:39 AM: Thanks for clearing up that point of confusion! :) I have often wonder if there was a difference.
does weekend include today, Friday? just wanted to check if things are on sale today before I left for some errands which could or could not include going to J Crew... I guess I could always call too :)
ReplyDeleteFYI, I just learned that you can always combine the student discount with the extra 40% off in-store or over the red phone, but not if you call from home. At least that's what the guy I talked to today told me. (I felt like he was quibbling over details - I mean, who cares if I call from the red phone or my cell - but he gave me free shipping, so at least he was trying.)
ReplyDeleteI went to the King of Prussia (KOP) store yesterday, and it was a shopping bonanza in there. I was looking mostly for work clothes as I am starting a job on Tuesday, but I also had my eye out for more casual pieces that I could wear on the weekend or on a casual Friday. My PS was AMAZING – she gave me the PS 20% discount PLUS my 15% student discount ON TOP OF the 20% off suiting and the 40% off final sale items. Needless to say, I love this woman. For ref I am 5'4”, hourglass shape with some pear tendencies – typical latina ;)
ReplyDeleteAbstract rose print dress (item 96517): When I saw the pics on the web I was very excited to try this on, but when my PS brought it to me in person I was slightly disappointed. The colors appear different on the web than they actually are. The lighter part is actually a dark beige, and the roses are orange and a fleshy type color (not the red and pink I was hoping for). I really can't do orange unless it is light, like peach. In addition, I did not feel confident the dress would stay in place. I am a pretty true 4 in J.Crew dresses, and the 4 in this felt like it was gradually sliding down and thought I might need to have the dress nipped by the tailor (I am a 36B, so that might have something to do with it – a C might help hold it up better). It did have a nice built in bra to help it stay in place, but it just wasn't enough. I did not see the boning that the description on the web talks about. The fit was cute, but with the sliding and the not so flattering colors, I decided to pass on this dress.
Solid Lydia blouse in plum (item 97751): I had to size down to an XS for this blouse. I LOVED the color and the fabric was divine, but even the XS was just too billowy for me. With the ruffles all around the collar and down the front, I can definitely how some would feel “clowny”. I sort of felt that way, but I think it's because I am short. I think that on the right person this blouse would be stunning, but it just wasn't for me.
Super 120s dress in black (item 96109): I thought this dress looked great on the hanger, but the fit was odd on me. There was some puffing out under the bust that would need to be darted and the neckline just didn't lay right. I had to pass on this.
Tartine cardigan in deep persimmon (item 96527): My PS brought this to me to pair with the abstract rose print dress. The color was NOT for me at all – it is a bright red orange, which I cannot pull off. The fit of the cardi was cute, but I had hoped that the material would be thicker, and that the ruffles would be more noticeable. I did not find the bottom to be non-stretchy as some others had mentioned. I guess I just didn't feel like it was worth the price. I might consider another color if they go on sale; the chocolate color was surprisingly rich, and the snow is just so pretty and feminine. I also think the heather wheat is a great neutral that would be pretty versatile.
Dream ruffle herringbone cardi in camel charcoal (item 96653): I like this cardi better than the tartine; I actually wish the tartine was a solid version of this sweater. The dream yarn is softer on this cardi than in the tie-waist I tried on a while back, and I loved how the ruffles at the neck were more noticeable than the tartine. This cardi is different than all the others I've seen, but it's still very versatile, which is what I like about it.
Velvet Ecolè jacket in tawny olive (item 97130): This just didn't work for me because it wasn't fitted enough and the sleeves were too big. I considered maybe a petite size, but I didn't like the jacket enough to go through all the trouble of ordering. The fabric was luxurious and rich, but I just don't think this is the “it” jacket they had intended.
Super 120s two-button jacket and pencil skirt in black (item 86034 and 86013 respectively): I LOVED the fit of this blazer. I am often between a petite and a regular, so I am used to getting regulars and having them tailored. This blazer fit me PERFECTLY and I will not have to do a thing to it. The skirt was very flattering and was a great silhouette with or without the jacket. I found the Super 120s fabric to move better than the wool gabardine; the wool felt more stiff than the Super 120s, which was soft and pliable. I don't have a basic black suit, so I took this suit home with me.
Super 120s Sleeveless Dress in black (item 90821): There was only one of these dress in the sale section, and it just happened to be my size. It fit PERFECTLY ... another item that felt like it was tailored just for me. It's form fitting and sexy for an evening out, but it's also very professional-looking with a button-down shirt under it for work. It really is a wear-anywhere dress! It looked amazing on me and I am considering pairing it with some bright heels for my rehearsal dinner. The best part? I paid $20 for it.
Cotton taffeta Belle skirt in Bright Rhubarb and Buttercup (item 97636): I can't sing the Belle's praises enough. The material is soft but holds its shape so nicely, and the cut is so flattering. It hits right below the knee on me because I'm kind of short, and the waist is so slimming. I already have the Paintbrush floral Belle and it is my favorite skirt this season. The bright rhubarb Belle (and the deep atlantic) are on sale right now for 40% off $59.99, so with all the discounts I couldn't pass on the bright rhubarb skirt – what a beautiful color. I got it for $24! The buttercup Belle was not on sale, but I managed to get 35% off and I would have bought it full price because I love it that much, so I had to leave with that skirt too.
Kelly shirts in black and fresh guava (item 91377): My store didn't have these shirts but I ordered them, because I love the way they fit. The slim shirt sleeves are a little too long for my short arms, and I find that the Kelly's ¾ sleeves are more flattering on me. I love the fresh guava color and am looking forward to receiving these soon.
Stretch Donegal Portman pant (item 96380): These are favorite-fit, which is the most flattering fit for me, and I loved these. They are nicely lined and conform to my curves. I have been searching for a great tweed pant for quite some time, and I am glad that I found these. I thought about taking home the blazer too, but it was a bit long for me. I might pick it up if it ever goes on sale.
Sparkle argyle cardigan (item 96541): I loved how rich the navy color was, and the gold threads give it a little bit of sparkle but not too much for work. The fit was also really flattering on me. I really loved this cardigan and I sort of regret leaving it, but I just couldn't justify it because I already have some argyle cardis. Maybe when it goes on sale.
Jewel-button cardigan in silver camel (item 97202): This is a beautiful cardigan; I love the little jewel buttons. They give the sweater just the right amount of sparkle. The color is so soft and neutral, and the ruffle is subtle but very feminine. It hit higher than I would have liked though, so I didn't take it with me. I might try it again and see how I feel; I just might end up with this in the coming weeks though, because it was very pretty :)
Slub cotton beaded shoe tee (item 97627): I have been eyeing this for a while, and although I probably can't wear it to work I had to pick it up as a little treat. It's so soft and very flattering for a tee; I was surprised by it. I love the dark slate color; it will go nicely with all my eggplant and wine-colored accessories (because I am obsessed with purple).
Again I apologize for the looooong post – I just wanted to share!
WOW that was really long. I'm sorry all!
ReplyDeleteMichelle: I just bought the Sparkle Argyle cardi, and I love it! Totally flattering. Although I didn't have any argyle before, so it was an easy buy.
ReplyDeletegigiofca: The B&M I went to didn't have the ruffle henleys or the serengeti tanks in the 40% off sale section, but I asked them if they would take 40% off since they were in the final sale on the website, and they did! Total for 2 ruffle henleys and the serengeti tank was about $88!! (with student discount).
No, Michelle, it was great--I think I will have to watch your fit posts because we are very similar in size and shape! Also I think you said you are just starting your first job as a lawyer? (I won't say how long I've been practicing.)
ReplyDeleteIf you like the super 120s sleeveless dress, you will like the wool gab suiting dress (96279) because it's the same dress with sleeves. I got a petite in the sleeveless, which I kept because I got a great deal, but I got a regular in the gab version with sleeves. Right between R and P.
I desperately wanted to love the new super 120s dress because it came in that beautiful violet. The 6 R didn't work at the store, so I ordered a 6 P, which I am exchanging for a 4 R. I hope it works but I think the cut of the dress is going to prove unworkable.
ashley: you're making me want to get in the car, haha. congrats on the sparkle argyle!
ReplyDeletehexion: I didn't realize that the sleeveless dress and the new one were the the same. So they're the same just, one just has sleeves on it?
ReplyDeleteI really really wanted to like the super 120's suit dress for the same reason - that purple color was so pretty! Unfortunately, it was my hips the dress didn't like (the bust fit fine only if I sized down, which my hips did not appreciate). I wish it did, as I liked the cut too. :( And like someone mentioned earlier, tailoring will probably make it not worth it.
hexicon: Yes, this is my first post-law-school job - I will be clerking for a common pleas judge in my area. It's great that you have been practicing a while; I am open to any advice you can offer!
ReplyDeleteI saw the wool gab dress in the catalog and I have had my eye on it. I was disappointed that it's web-only. I had hoped to try it on, but you have given me hope that the same size would be perfect. The sleeveless fit like a glove, and having the option to wear sleeves would be just fabulous.
I wanted to like the new 120s dress too; it has a great retro vibe to it with the buttons and neckline, and that violet color is lovely. I hope the 4 works for you!
Also, I left a comment for you in the promo post about the Astrid - I think my store had it on the 20% promo. King of Prussia store - 610 265 0210.
Arg!!! It is SO frustrating not living near a store. I just found 5 final sale items I was interested in...only to call and find that they were ALL sold out! They did a "we will find it" search, so I'm crossing my fingers that something will come up! To all of you who are fortunate to be able to stop by a b&m this weekend...have fun! :)
ReplyDeletegigiofca: I was wondering did you mention that you went to the B&M on Walnut street, pitt?
ReplyDeleteMichelle: Thanks for your fantastic review!!! :)
ReplyDeleteALWAYS ASK SALES ASSOCIATES ABOUT DISCOUNTS--I SWEAR I THINK THEY ARE TOLD TO HONOR WHATEVER THE CUSTOMER WANTS!IT DOESN"T PAY TO BE SHY BUT IT DOES TO OPEN UP AND ASK-IT NEVER HURTS.
ReplyDeleteI DO LOVE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN STORE AND ON THE PHONE:)
appgal: I'm sort of in the same boat as you. There are final sale items that I really really want to purchase, but I just got back to school and not only is there not a b&m nearby, I also don't have a car. So, I'm stuck on campus obsessing over items on the internet. I figured I'll live vicariously through everyone else though. Happy shopping everyone!
ReplyDeleteI went to my store this Wednesday and there were a bunch of new arrivals on sale. They brought it all out right as I got there so I snagged everything I wanted in my XS size! yay! there were a bunch of tees including the beaded one, and the cutout graphic tee in two colors, a bunch of skirts, sweats, tanks, and a few dresses, one I remember for sure was the watercolor. I was in a huge rush, so did not take down names, I apologize.
ReplyDeleteHelp! I looove the green alpine taffeta skirt in the sale section on the website. Does anyone know if it fits big or small? I usually wear a 0 in the skirts so I think it may be too big. Anyone got one?
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle--I've decided that I am just going to leave the Astrid suit for a little while. Maybe they will have a private sale like they did in October last year. I'm still in a bit of a snit with them due to the screw-ups on my recent online orders.
ReplyDeleteI will post when I get my replacement violet 120s dress. I really hope that this size will fit but I suspect it's the cut of the dress. It certainly seems that a lot of poster have found that the cut of the dress simply didn't work.
Item #97245 was on sale for $39.99 + extra 40% off. I bought two. They aren't even on sale online yet, so the two came to $47, online just ONE is $58. And the matchstick cords were on promo for $69.50. These were at Pioneer Place in Portland, OR. (the good old Pacific NW!) I think that I will just make the hike to the b&m. The prices are cheaper and I don't have to pay shipping!
ReplyDeleteJenG
I visited J.Crew near my place. I found following with additional 40% off.
ReplyDelete96842 RINGSPUN COTTON beaded graphic tee $44.99
97029 Serengeti tank $79.99
97336 Swiss-dot Annette blouse $59.99
90991 Featherweight merino ruffle cardigan pink $19.99
I went there to buy a T-shirt with two dogs, wihch I adore. I never though I would purcahse Serengeti tank, but I tried it on for fun and found that it goes well with my jeans and cardigan. I also tries annette blouse, but it was not for me. The best find today was merino ruffle cardigan for $19!
Late responses...
ReplyDeleteblumre - I purchased the seaside ruffle dress in black and grey (fog?). I love them both.
kristin - I did not see any cashmere on sale the other day and I was just at a b&m today (labor day) -- no cashmere on sale.
Ashley - I thought about asking the store to match the web price on the ruffle henley but I wasn't in the mood. I was at the store today and they had it marked down, but I didn't get another one. One in black is enough.
Anonymous @ 12:54 - I am in CA, not Pittsburgh. I will be more clear next time.
