J.Crew Stores: 40% Off Final Sale Is Back {fabulous!}

A big "thanks!" to jcrewlvr who let us know in the post "J.Crew Factory Store: Sale Going On Now!" that J.Crew was having an additional 40% off final sale at her local store. I just called my local store (that had the 30% off final sale last week) and found out that they are now offering 40% off final sale as well. Therefore, chances are that your local store is carrying 40% off final sale items too! :)

Also, jcrewlvr shared with us some markdowns at the store: "Olivia top is now 79.99, cheetah cami & lame cami also got marked down today. Some new in store promos (not additional 40% off) are Cord Pencil skirt is 49.50, herringbone & Donegal Fiona's & Ecole's are 25% off. Matchstick cords 69.50 (along with bootcut) and Watson pants are 49.50."

Are you excited to see the additional 40% off final sale return to stores? Do you think you will visit your local store to see if they are offering an additional 40% off and to take advantage of the additional markdown?

  1. What about those of us who don't have a b&m store anywhere near them. Waaaahhhh! I have seriously considered asking my husband if we can move so that I can be closer to an actual J Crew store or stores as the case may be. LOL.

  2. @ jcrewjunkie

LOL. You should move to Manhattan! There are 7 (1 of them being the men's store) J. Crews.. If you can't find something at one, go to the other!

  5. I just bought the cord skirt in honey glaze on Monday. What is the deal with price adjustments. Do I just take my receipt to the store or do I have to take the skirt also. It is only a few blocks away from where I work, so definitely worth the $18.50 difference.

BTW, really beautiful in person. It will look great with boots in the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  6. leaderboys: I also have the honey glaze cord skirt. It really is beautiful.

Fit Question: has anyone bought the ruffle henley tissue tee? What do you think? How did it fit?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Boo, what about us international customers? Guess I could call, wait on hold and beg for the discount.

    ReplyDelete
  8. JCrewJunkie: I think that is so funny- considering a move to be near a J.Crew store. It is something I would totally do too! ;)

Kldb: Thanks for the nice compliment! :)

Blumre: I agree that the additional markdown is great. I can't wait to take advantage of it. :)

I wonder if this is in response to yesterday's investors report- where JCrew mentioned they had a lot of excess inventory. Maybe this is their way to show investors that they are still on top of things?

  9. Hmm, the new Astrid herringbone suit has been dropped from the 20% suiting promo. ???

  10. I would be ecstatic if my local store would reopen (they've been closed for renovations for a week). Grrrrrrrr!

You are awesome Alexis! Thanks for posting this!

  11. Looks like I need to get to a store ASAP, I want the cords in dark fog and the watson pants for 49.50 are a steal!

  12. Argh - I bought several things with the additional 30% yesterday. 10% not a big deal, but still - Argh.

  13. This is GREAT news! Thanks for sharing! btw, If anyone sees the wool Tuesday Trench on sale, PLEASE let me know. (I'm trying to stay away from my b&m, I've already spent SO much!) :) TIA!

  14. oh, OT, I received my sequin-chiffon cardigan today and LOVE it! Thanks for the review Molly!

  15. cori: I wrote this in another thread: I bought that tee and I find it to be true to size. I usually take a small in all their tees, except the slub ones, I go to a Med. It's a little bit long too. I hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Cori - I bought the ruffle henly tee in black and love it. I sized up because it clings. That makes it not so fitted for me (busty). I agree it is a little long, but not ridiculously so if you have to size up.

    ReplyDelete
  17. weab: I bought the navy wool Tuesday Trench yesterday - got 20% off with the personal shopper special. I love this coat!

  18. does anyone have the garden skirt? can you tell me how it fits, is it poofy or a-line?

    ReplyDelete
  19. jcrewjunkie - I have the same problem here in Kennebunk, Maine. We have two factory stores (Kittery and Freeport) but the closest J.Crew retail store is in New Hampshire - in a less-than-stellar mall no less.

I'm drafting an email to Mickey & Tracey Gardner asking that they seriously consider the City of Portland or the Maine Mall (South Portland) which recently added Coach, Banana Republic, H&M and Apple stores as the next city in it's retail expansion plans.

  20. I'd love to see a list of the places the new JCrew stores are going to be at....

    ReplyDelete
  21. I just wish that they would bring the 40% online. I prefer shopping that way since there is usually a better selection.

    ReplyDelete
  22. tammylee: Congrats on your trench! It's really great for everyday use! I'm trying to restrain myself until it gets marked down further since I have already purchased so much (ie, Lucille, Berry Astrid a couple pairs of shoes, lots of cardigans, and the list goes on and on.) I know I'd get tons of use out of it but we still have high 90's temps here and I won't be needing it until *November* most likely...but I still NEED it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. weab: You have a great list. Enjoy all your new things!

    ReplyDelete
  24. My store had 30% yesterday, I wonder if they changed it..oh well I still got some great deals :)
They also had a private sale on cashmere sweaters. I think it was just the crew and v-necks in solid colors for $99

    ReplyDelete
  25. weab: you bought the sequin chiffon sweater! yay, i'm glad you like it...i love mine and think it's a great piece :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I just talked to my PS ... apparently suiting is 20% off plus an extra 20% with the PS discount. I am so there. I made an appt for tomorrow morning at 10am.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous at 2:17 PM: I will send an email asking JCrew to let us know (if they know) where the new stores will be opened. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. ccbmum: yes! Thanks! I'm so excited to wear all of these little goodies, now if only the weather would cooperate! :)

michelle: Is mchesq on polyvore you? If so, I did a set for you. Let me know what you think.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mary--I've seen two posts directed at your store being renovated, so I'll direct this to you, but anyone else might know! As I was lamenting to the SA about the lighting showing all my grey hairs, the SA said our store is going to be renovated soon.
How long is a store usually closed when they renovate??

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just got home from the store (didn't see this post beforehand). There were definitely fall things on sale and 30% off. And sorry for my bad descriptions (3 year old was having a nuclear meltdown at the time). Silver 3/4 sleeve dress on sale, new pink skirt they just got in, grey sweater w/ pockets on the chest, lots of the layering tanks, cord jackets (all colors). I couldn't believe it! My store still had the 30% off sign up.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I wish online had 40% off---just once:) I know they couldn't handle the orders....maybe even 20 percent off this weekend would be nice.....even if I couldn't get everything:)

    ReplyDelete
  32. There's lots of new stuff up in the sale section online, too. No 40% off code, though. I know the madison dress has been getting panned, but at the new sale price I'm kind of tempted. For anyone who's tried it on, exactly how bad was the fit? And what areas was it bad in. We need a sister blog where people can post Pictures of items then get feedback on the fit! Maybe I'll start one...

    ReplyDelete
  33. weab: I just took a look and I LOVE both of them. I am especially intrigued by the abstract rose print dress - I think it would be perfect with a little cardigan, since the wedding and rehearsal are in the beginning of October. But I also know that the rosette dress is hugely discounted in stores right now, so I may have to look for that too when I go tomorrow. Thank you so much for making the sets for me :) They are gorgeous! I will let you know how it goes.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just got back from the Michigan Avenue store -- definitely additional 40% off final sale. The Serengeti tank was $79.99, ruffle henley was $39.99, both w/additional 40% off. The henley fit true to size and will look very cute under jackets for fall. Jamie was my salesperson; she was extremely pleasant & helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  35. This is perfect timing!! My kids go back to school tomorrow AND my catalog finally arrived today!! YAHOOOO!!!!! I know where I'm goin' tomorrow!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. slightly older sally, have a great time. let us know what you buy:) Lucky you...i miss my JCrew store...none where I live this past year...

    ReplyDelete
  37. ml: Were there alot of items in the sale section? Whenever I go to the Michigan Ave. store, the sales section looks skimpy on selections. So disappointing since their sales are all I can afford right now:(

    ReplyDelete
  38. I've just started a blog to discuss fit of specific J Crew items. Alexis, hopefully you're ok with me leaving this info here! I've got 2 items up so far, my lunch break is over, so hopefully there will be more this afternoon. Take a look if you feel like it. It's crewfit.blogspot.com.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I called my store and they are having the additional 40% off, but as usual...there isn't much of a selection, so I'm not sure I'll make the trip there. They didn't even get the Watercolor Garden Lydia blouse in either...bummer...I wanted to see it in person.

    ReplyDelete
  40. lovingjcrew: The sale section at Michigan Avenue is the same size as usual -- not the best selection. I'm strictly a sale shopper too. Only went today because I really wanted the ruffle henley. Basically got two henleys for the price of one with the extra 40%.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks ML! Enjoy your Henleys.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I picked up a pair of grey cords today ($10 off and student discount) and got a really cute ruffled henley at the b&m near my mom's house.

Question: Has anyone tried the Abstract rose print dress on? The b&m didn't have it (although they did have the skirt) and I would love to order it but I have no clue what size to get!! I'm a little hesitant because it looks very fitted and I'm slightly pear shaped (2 on top, 4 on bottom).

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hi SS

My store just reopened today. They were closed for about a week. I went over there this afternoon (I called today to find out when they were reopening--I know, I know, I'm crazy) check it out. It seems they removed some of the side dressing rooms to open out the space--it looks much, much bigger and emptied out a shoe storage area to create new dressing rooms. Shoes are now in a different area in towards the back of the store.

I don't know what they're planning in your store--hopefully it's not much more than what they did in mine.

The clearance area was 40% off, but all the summer merchandise was gone. Cord jackets were on the rack, along with the watercolor rosette tank in blue, the watercolor dress, and lots of ruffled henleys, as another contributor posted. Not too much to offer today. I hope that the renewed 40% discount in stores gives us hope for an on-line discount to come!

    ReplyDelete
  44. michelle: Yay! I'm so glad you like them! I too LOVE the abstract one. Let me know how it goes. btw, Congrats on the upcoming nuptials!

    ReplyDelete
  45. aw man - now I am lusting after the cord pencil skirt, and I'm an hour away from a b&m! This blog is great for j.crew, but bad for my wallet!

well, not bad, because I think I'm getting better prices, but that is definitely negated by the fact that I'm buying waaaaay more!

    ReplyDelete
  46. What about the fact that it is Holiday weekend! There's usually Labor Day slaes at almost all retail:) Maybe online too!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hi girls - I ordered the abstract rose print dress on Sunday and it should be arriving shortly, so I'll let you know what the fit is like. I normally wear a size 4 in their dresses but too am pear shaped, so I'm wondering if this will fit me properly. I actually went to the store on Sunday and bought the waffle-lined hoodie in dark slate and the Lydia blouse in navy. I love the sweatshirt and have gotten several compliments on it already. I love most of J. Crew's sweatshirts because they have the comfort of a sweatshirt but don't look quite so shleppy as your average sweatshirt, so I feel a little more pulled together:) The navy Lydia is also great!

I recently purchased the black tartine cardigan and love it, so I tried on the snow leopard print tartine while in the store and really liked it. They didn't have my size so I ordered it. Super cute in person...

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anyone have the swiss dot annette blouse in gold dot (or navy) I love the way it is fitted on the model but I went down to size 0 and mine still isn't as fitted as hers (I am not a ZERO). They have to pin these things all overe as mentioned in earlier posts.
It is crunchy though and i debate about trying to soften up in the washer (it's washable). I might ruin it but then maybe they would take it back if it became dysfunctional:)
Are those ruffle henleys actually $15 bucks with the discount??!! I love mine--cannot decide whether to keep xs or sm based on the fitted look. Like it under jackets but busty without covered up.
I gotta get to the store--or I take that back--i should STAY FAR AWAY-Ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I bought several things yesterday on 30% off final sale in the b&m. I am not sure why it is 30% one week then 40% another. Kind of annoying...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Alexis-

Have you ever thought of starting a FORUM where people can post threads on whatever they want to discuss ie. "Fit of the Ecole Jacket" and then if someone is interested they go there and can comment and post pics etc. I am sure you are familiar with this type of blog/forum and it is probably a HUGE undertaking! But I can see this would be a HUGE benefit to the fanatics out there (like myself:)
See example at purse forum--I think that's actually how got to you in the first place! Thanks for listening.

  51. Oh Boy! Christmas came early this year! I just got some packages and have to review!

Penelope flats in silver metalic - FABULOUS! I know math teacher talked about them being very uncomfortable to I expected these might have been a return for me. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised ad the amount of padding in the shoe! I've bought Jcrew flats before and I really think these are improved from the past ones. I've have mine on for about 15 minutes and still no pain. Maybe the key is to order a half size larger?

Serengeti Midheels - BEAUTIFUL!!! The heel height is perfect for my lifestyle (2 3/4) not too high but I'm short so I like a little lift most of the time. I haven't had those on me feet for more than 5 minutes walking around the house but so far so good. My first choice was the Juliet Safaris but they don't come in a 5H so opted for these instead. btw, 5H (and 8H) is already waitlisted for those of you watching them.

Also got the sequined chiffon cardigan earlier today (mentioned on another thread), the tartine in deep persimmon and some final sale items. I'm so happy with these purchases so unfortunately for my wallet, it's all staying! ;)

Now if only that darn Tuesday trench would just go on sale...(ok I won't mention it anymore. I promise.)

  52. Hi Anonymous at 5:43 PM! Thanks for the suggestion about the forum.

I have thought about starting a forum for clothes/fit many times. :) However, the sites that are available for free aren't very user friendly and the since the forum would be run by the users- it wouldn't work out in the end. :)

I am always searching for new forums- I was even searching again today for one. If someone has a forum they know that is user friendly and free- please feel free to let me know and send me an email at jcrewaficionada@yahoo.com. :)

  53. weab: I love the penelope flats and will get them when they're marked down more. My problem wasn't the soles - I thought they were much more padded than other flats. My problem was the top of the shoe. I had a red imprinted line all around the top of my foot after having them on for 15-20 minutes. Now, I know my foot swells throughout the day, but I was there right after they opened! So for my teaching, on-my-feet, lifestyle, I just couldn't pay that much for a shoe that I can't wear to work. :( And, I did size up 1/2. Maybe it's b/c I have a wide foot. Hopefully, my size will still be around when they hit a cheaper price. But, lucky you! I'm glad they work for you b/c they are so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh, math teacher so you did size up. Then there goes my theory. I don't know why I'm not having that problem then. I remembered you mentioned that it was the top that hurt you so I've been keeping an eye on that.

I know what you mean about wanting them marked down more though. I used my 20% ps discount (and for the serengetis as well) I had told myself that once they went down to under $100 I would get them. So as soon as they went to $120 ($96 with the discount), I pounced. :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. hey everyone! Does anyone know if jcrewlvr mentioned which store he/she went to and saw the markdowns? Because my store (Tyson's in Mclean, VA) still has them marked at $99, and I would like to figure out how to get the lower price!

    Thanks so much in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm sorry, the Olivias are still marked at 99, not 79!

Sorry! And thanks for the info!

    ReplyDelete
  57. weab: Where were the Serengetis only $120? They are still full price online.

    ReplyDelete
  58. ffm: sorry, I meant the penelope flats were 120 and that I had applied the 20% discount to the flats and the serengeti heels at the same time. (the heels were, and still are $175 plus the 20% off) Sorry for causing confusion.

    ReplyDelete
  59. weab: Maybe it's b/c I have a wide foot. I think when I can get them for under 70, then I'll go for it. I had them for around 90, but I don't have a DH to help pay the bills, so I have to spend carefully. :P I do LOVE them though and want them - just at a reasonable price for shoes that hurt my feet! :) I often resent my wide feet.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I wasn't too excited about the 40% off until I read that fall items are included. I think I might slip on down to my store this weekend to check it out. :)

Also, something I've been thinking lately ... I don't really like peep toes or patent leather, both very popular this year apparently. :( I either want to hide all my toes or show them all off - none of this teasing partial toe cleavage stuff. :) Just my thoughts though. They're obviously popular!

    ReplyDelete
  61. math teacher: I am totally with you re: the wide feet. My feet are also wide, and there are so many cute shoes I just can't wear, including pretty much all of J.Crew's shoes. At least Naturalizer has been coming out with some surprisingly cute shoes lately.

    ReplyDelete
  62. michelle: I love liz claiborne's shoes. Not only are they comfortable, but they're reasonably priced. I do have a couple pair of Naturalizer, and I also like White Mountain. I also love Born, although I can't wear their heels to school. I LIVE in flats at school. Except for boots - those I can do with a heel. I've never understood that! :) Oh, the curse of a wide foot!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I just wanted to highly recommend the hammered silk tank and the marcella blouse. I received mine (tank in peacock and marcella in ivory) today, and I love, love them. They are wonderful layering pieces, and I know I'll be wearing them a lot in the next few months.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Grrr...I just bought the Madison dress, ruffle henley, and serengeti tank on Monday (w/ PS discount) and they have all been marked down AND are an additional 40% off! I wonder, if you buy something that was full price and get a discount on it, are you still eligible for price adjustment?

    ReplyDelete
  65. I also have the marcella in ivory and LOVE it. I bought 2 more lydias today making it a total of three and LOVE THEM. I also bought three tartan cardigans and the lydia looks REALLY good under them.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ashly: Yes you get 7 days for a price adjustment. So if it is full price take it in and they should give you a credit.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I bought the Watercolor Floral Madison dress today: 79 minus 40%. I normally wear a 2 in J.Crew, but I sized up to a 4 in this dress. (I could zip up the 2, but it was a bit too tight right under my bustline.) I thought that the dress was flattering on me, especially with the neckline and the deep back. The pockets in the dress do tend to emphasize hips -- which is fine with me, because I am pretty rectangular!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Musthavejcrew: I have those, and they're my favorite as well! I never thought of the tartine and lydia (I thought there's too much ruffle going on...). Thanks for the idea... I'll give it a try!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Weab:
congrats on Penelope flats, I bought mine in yellow metallic and love them as well. They are so cute!I tried Serengeti heesl in store today and have to agree with you that they are both comfortable and beautiful.
Math Teacher: Penelope flats are $120 right now and hopefully, will be marked down more in a future.

    ReplyDelete
  70. slastena: Thanks! Did you buy the serengeti heels? I think they are great because they go with ALL colors, black, brown, beige, navy, you name it! I just hope they don't start to hurt after wearing them awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Douglas, I live on the Seacoast in NH, and I would gladly second your request to consider adding a J.Crew in Portland - driving to Salem is a drag, and the store is nothing to write home about!

    jcrewmama

    ReplyDelete
  72. anonymous@10:23: I got the madison dress, too, and I also think the neckline and back are gorgeous! I usually wear a 2 in J. Crew dresses, but they didn't have it in that size at my store. I tried it on in a zero, and while it *felt* tight in the hips, the PS and several SAs insisted that it looked like a perfect fit. I'm very small in the bust, so I guess that's why I was able to size down, while you had to size up. Lucky you! Anyway, I love how the dress has such a sexy vintage look; one person remarked that it was Marilyn Monroe-like, and I have to agree!

  73. Anyone know if CS is going to honor the 40% if you call in the order? They've done it in the past but who knows with their constantly changing policies right now. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Emily: the best any of us can tell you is to ask and try

    ReplyDelete
  75. Emily: I used the red phone yesterday. The SA told CS the store was offering 40% off final sale and then handed the phone to me to complete my order. It took a little bit longer than usual because CS had to take the 40% off manually but it was worth it. I just hope everything I ordered shows up!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thanks Blumre and ML. I don't live near a store so I was hoping I could phone it in like I have done in the past. I'll probably be making that call later today as I have a huge amount in my shopping bag! :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Emily: I tried calling a little while ago (not from a store) and was told no, they could not match the additional 40% off in the store, I would have to be calling from a store. This policy is really unfair to customers not living near a B&M. I would have ordered a bunch of new sale items that I did not notice yesterday if they would match the 40% discount. Now I'm not ordering anything!

    ReplyDelete
  78. slastena: thanks for the notice on the penelope flats. I'm still going to wait, especially since someone else mentioned getting a blister from wearing them. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they still have my size at that point. Oh, the curse of a wide foot!

    ReplyDelete
  79. emily and ml: I called earlier tonight and the cs gave me the 40% off plus free shipping! I had mentioned that my b&m didn't have what I wanted in stock and I wouldn't be there until Monday and didn't want to lose my item. She honored the 40% without calling my b&m, which is the first time that's happened. Usually they call to confirm. It really does come down to who you talk to. Let us know if you get the 40%.

    ReplyDelete
  80. ML, Math Teacher and Blumre: I did call in an order yesterday and was honored the 40%. She wouldn't take a shipping code but I figured she was nice enough, even honored the promotional prices on the cord skirt and Ecole that are in stores...without calling the store. Overall, very happy!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hi- Was the watercolor Madison getting panned? I got the dress, 79.99 + 40% + 15% (student) today. I actually went back for it because I couldn't stop thinking about it. Like another reviewer, I had to size up-- it was tight at the bust (I couldn't get it to zip past that). Also, my stomach is my problem area, and with my normal size, the placement of the pockets did emphasize this area; I also feel like the pockets were cut kind of small compared to my other J. Crew dresses with pockets. For me, I really like the color/print and the plunging back of the dress. I love it for $40.
