Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

As Aly mentioned in the post "J.Crew Student Discount: Upgrade & Downgrade", her local J.Crew was offering a "All Novelty Jackets 25% off" sale above the Ecole and wool Fiona Jackets. (These are the same jackets that were part of their "secret sale" awhile back.)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend (to take advantage of the "additional 40% off" on the few sale items left, to take advantage of the new Fall arrivals on sale, and the like), maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the sale items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts, which by the way "thank you!" :) I really love how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I will be heading to J. Crew this weekend but my only purpose will be to return the Ecole and the overdyed cropped jeans that I got that don't fit as the others do. I really can't afford to buy any more. I am literally all spent out! :( And I am also annoyed with J. Crew--- so I am saving up for the Bird's Eye Jacket from BR

  2. blumre: I got a BR coupon in the mail for 20% off order of 125 or more with Luxe card - would you like it?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I have to go to BR tomorrow to return a dress, so I will probably troll the J Crew nearby. I'll report if I see anything new.

For the ruffle freaks...check out this leather jacket.

  4. If anyone finds the men's true indigo chambray workshirt on sale (89634), please let me know. It's been in my b&m's for way over a month and I'm just dying to have one go on sale.

(and is it just me, or does the shirt happen to be $10 higher online?)

  5. My fiancee plays in a kickball league and they usually have games on Friday, which is when I slip away to J.Crew. :) Sadly, his game is cancelled this week but I'm still SO TEMPTED to go anyway!!

  6. off topic -

has anyone ordered from jcrew online recently? I want to place an order...but I'm rather hesitant becauses of all the fiascos. Just wondering if you guys think its safe now. lemme know! thanks

    ReplyDelete
  7. cristan: It is still not safe, my order from last week still hasn't shipped out yet, and there is still orders being shortshipped. I was promised by a CS that my order would ship put yesterday I called it did not happen.

So proceed at your own risk.

  8. Off topic: washing? Regarding featherweight merino wool ruffle cardigan item 90991--has anyone handwashed this item? It says dry clean only not just dry clean. I almost always handwash when it says dry clean but dry clean only is a different matter.....online it says dry clean but the sweater tag says dry clean only...I have 5 different colors in this sweater but the light pink one came with a pulled place along the side so I am tempted to try washing that one. Any suggestions? Help? Thanks.

  9. No, online is still not safe. If you do not have to go online, then wait. I also found recently representatives became ruder than before. Maybe because of the stress.

  10. I will probably not make it over to my b&m this weekend...I went last Saturday and the Sunday before that, so I think my hubby would not be pleased if I left him with the kids AGAIN this weekend to shop at J.Crew (plus it's his birthday on Sunday, and it wouldn't be very nice to go shopping for myself). I am going to try to wait...I really DON'T need anything but pants, and I also want to save in case I want pieces from the next couple of months catalogs, which of course it is inevitable that I will. ;)

  13. I went twice this week...I think I'm going to take a break from the b&m store. My credit card needs a little break:)

  14. OT: has anyone else been trying to figure out when they update the system in the morning?? i have over the past few days and i think it happens between 9 - 10 am. yesterday in between the times i checked the number of sale items went from 650 to over 900. anyone else had a similiar inclination??

    ReplyDelete
  15. Quick question for anyone that owns that owns the flowy jersey bateau dress: does it run true to size? I'm having a hard time figure out what size to buy since it is final sale! I typically wear a 2 on top and 4 on bottom...but I'm not sure whether I should size up.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ... And the website is down again.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The website is not down for me. Only posting as it is weird it's down for some and not others.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kate, I noticed the 9 am update yesterday....

ALSO:) Website or phone orders are still not safe...I've had problems not receiving things in the past week and a half...with 2 orders and/or receiving the wrong color of item....also, defective final sale item. I don't trust it yet one little bit. Is this ever going to end!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. lauren harris - i think it runs true to size, i'm normally a medium in their knit dresses, and the medium fit for me in the flowy bateau

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love you FFM and you are one kind and helpful lady:) and I am happy that your order has shipped but please don't double post! I don't have much time to read the first ones as it is! :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Cristin: I'm going to be the lone dissenter on ordering online. I have held off since the website "transition" but broke down on Wednesday when I got a tall Frances blouse for less than $20. I ordered it with the attitude of if it comes, wonderful, and if not, that is ok too. Well my ordered shipped out with a correct tracking number yesterday and should be arriving on my doorstep this morning! :)

Lauren Harris: I actually found the flowy jersey dress to run on the big side. So I would either get your normal size or even size down.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lauren Harris: I suggest ordering the same size as you would for J.Crew t-shirt tops for flowy bateau dress. Although it is fitted on top, it is made of a jersey cotton so it stretches (which I think is great!) The bottom of the dress is a swingy a-line, so its great for pear shapes like me (and therefore you don't need to worry about sizing to much). I hope this helps! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. jcrewbug: Thats very sweet of you. But I actually don't have a BR card. I am going to sign up for the card and get 20% then and I have a coupon for 15% off $150 or more and Gigiofca has a 20% off coupon that anyone can use. So this may be a very profitable purchase for me. Thanks so much for thinking about me though. You're a doll! (I realize that can sound fake... but I actually really mean it, thanks a bunch!)

  24. I have placed 6 online orders since the upgrade and have received them all. I was short shipped on only one and that was cleared up with a quick email to my fav J Crew gal, Gracie!

Alexis: I am so glad that you are back and that things went well. Kudos to you for keeping this blog going even in your absence...you are amazing!!

FFM: I noticed in one of your posts yesterday that you mentioned you were wearing the Kelly Green Piper under a Navy Jackie cardi. I have the Sea Glass Piper and was wondering what color Jackie you would wear with it? TIA for your help! I appreciate you :)

anon @ 5:24 a.m.: I wash almost everything that says Dry Clean Only in either Woolite or Johnson's Baby Magic Shampoo.

  26. Sorry about the double post. For some reason it didn't show as posting the first time and prompted me to do "word verification" a second time. Grrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jcrewjunkie: I saw your post to FFM and I thought I would jump in... I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes.

You could do a Navy, white, dark maple, black, depending on what the deep persimmon looks like in person you might be able to do that too. Because there arent too many colors out and the colors for this season are different than they were for the summer I think you might be a little restricted but--- they have a great pink color this summer (if you have it that would work too). Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have placed a few orders online and via phone and have received 95% of them. A few random things never were instock (like the butter twills i ordered) but all in all it was okay. If you call they can tell you if something is in stock right away. you may need to ask because i called twice for the same order (cellphone issues) and one rep told me "oh, look that's down to only 2 available it may not be in" and the other didn't say squat about low stock levels. Things have been shipping really quickly for me.... except for those mocs I ordered months ago and still haven't seen... but that was before the upgrade.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I got my first perfect fit tee the other day and love it so if anyone sees a lot at one of their b&m's on sale please let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  30. JCrew junkie, Thanks for the washing posting tip...appreciate it:) I am going to try it on the pink sweater...if it shrinks oh well...I have several others but I think it will be fine...:)

    ReplyDelete
  31. marisa,
I don't have any perfect fit tees from this season but I agree they are wonderful:) Hope you can find some more:)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Blumre: You are always welcome to give me your advice! I do so appreciate it!! Is the sweater that you are talking about from this summer the Jackie in Soft Fuchsia? I think that I may have that somewhere in my closet (I have begun to just put everything towards the back of our walk in closet so that DH doesn't suspect anything since his scrubs are all towards the front!) Let me go check. I was also thinking Navy so again, great minds must think alike! :)

BTW...I am still sulking about your forgetting to mention Tasti-Delite to me before I went to NY. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  33. marisa: there are a TON at the columbus circle store in NYC

    ReplyDelete
  34. jcrewjunkie: I would suggest pairing the sea glass piper with the Sour Lemon, Spicy Mustard or Honey Glaze...see which one is closet to the yellow in the piper. Also, it looks as if the Rhubarb would be beautiful and the Soft Fushcia or Poppy will work with it, as well. :) I don't think I would put too dark of cardigans with it...I would wear darker color on the bottom and pair one of the colors I suggested with the Piper on top, especially for Fall. :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jcrewjunkie: When I didnt live in NYC (and this totally disgusting and I can't believe I am ever admitting to this) but I used to eat the weight watcher's ice cream stuff. Its a pretty good comparison in taste to tasti-d-lite. I can't believe i just wrote that out loud. I need to go hide now.

I think it might have been the soft fushia... but I am not sure... I remember it being be a similar color.

What I would do it go through your cardigans and put the shirt up against them and see which ones are similar to a color in the beach glass pattern. Its my "pull out a specific color trick" and you can change it based on the day and which color you feel like pulling out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I like FFM's idea too... I was thinking for now. but I think a nice dark bottom (or both dark bottom and top) would transition nicely into winter and fall :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am jumping in to discuss the piper sea glass tank, jcrew junkie I have it too and would love to pair it with cardis for fall...soooo, blumre and FFM thanks for your fab suggestions. I am thinking of getting another plain one (green? navy?) anyone see them at their stores? thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Has anyone stopped by the Georgetown store in DC lately? I'm tempted to visit Patagonia today and wonder if it's worth swinging by J.Crew as well. The last time I was in there the sale was VERY picked over....thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lauren Harris: I wear a Medium in the J. Crew tie front dress and a Medium in another J. Crew knit dress. I have nothing on top ;) and the Jersey Bateau dress was too big on me - it just hung. I've ordered the size Small and hope it fits!

    ReplyDelete
  40. hi everyone: I will be heading to j.crew this weekend as I just called my local store and put the wool fiona (as it's 25% off) and the belle skirt on hold. My cc rewards card is burning a hole in my pocket, and since I love the wool fiona and it's on promotion...

well, you know how it is...:) hopefully both will really be there tomorrow on hold and the discount will still be in effect (although the SA said she would write a note to give me a discount in case it wasn't)!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Lauren Harris: I'm the same size as you for tops and bottoms, and I would get the dress in an xsmall if it's available. I've only tried it on in a small and it fit fine, but I feel like an xsmall would have hung better. Because the material is so stretchy, you have some lax with it. I would go with an xsmall also because the small hung a little long where the elastic is for me. I hope this helps.

  42. blumre: is this the birds eye jacket from BR that you're saving for?

if so, it is SO CUTE! I haven't been loving their clothes lately, but this makes me start to change my mind...

  43. Good and bad news - The order I placed earlier this week has been shipped, which means it should be on my doortep when I get home. Major plus since my DH is coming home tomorrow afternoon and I will have time to hide the evidence! I have placed several orders during the upgrade and not had a problem.

The bad news, the Florentine pencil skirt I was so excited about got cancelled. I had big plans for that skirt, even bought shoes yesterday. If anyone sees it this weekend, please let me know.

Lauren Harris: I got a medium in the dress and in the tie-front dress and I usually wear a 10/12. Fits great!

jcrewbug: bummer, spent that much in BR yesterday and didn't have the coupon to use with my luxe. oh well!

    ReplyDelete
  44. blumre and j crew guy canada: I am currently wearing a brown vneck tshirt from Banana with gray cityfit surplus chinos and brown leather flip flops :) Thanks!

emily: I'm so sorry!! I just got it in the mail - it's good til beg of Sept if you want to try to return and recheckout.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Just thought I'd share re the letter I got from Jcrew yesterday (I believe I posted about it in the 30% off thread) - apparently this letter was sent to thousands of customers last night and its a generic letter just advising them that there *may* be items that were shipped to you that you were not charged for. I asked a CSR last night and this morning to check my account and there are no specific notes there regarding any orders that may not have been charged, and from my end I don't think I have received anything I was not charged for. The CSR I spoke to last night advised that most likely I wouldn't be charged at all, and to wait until Monday and if any charges had been made, I could call in to dispute them. I have to add the CSR I spoke to was incredibly helpful, and gave me his name and extension so that should any charges be charged that I wish to dispute, I can call in and speak directly to him. So if anybody else has gotten this email - don't worry, wait a couple of days and if they haven't charged you within that time frame, they will not be charging you at all.

    ReplyDelete
  46. On a side note I've been finding some cute tanks and shirts at Target to wear under my J Crew cardis - these shirts feel J Crew or Banana inspired. 9.99 for the tanks with ribbon trim:)

    ReplyDelete
  47. jcrewbug: Thanks for offering. I hope I will not be going to the mall anytime soon. My account can't take anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Does anyone own the pleated garden skirt? Looks cute but wondering how it fits.

    ReplyDelete
  49. emily: Which is why I am happy to give this coupon away :) I really shouldn't spend any more!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Kater:
    This is the bird's eye
it is similar to the one you linked to but not quite. Take a look i think you will like it. It also comes in a cotton (black and khaki color) and other tweed colors... I am getting the brown tweed. :)

FFM: Did you see I am am getting better at this linking stuff ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. jcrewbug: sounds great. I plan to wear a grey Polo with tartan shorts and flip flops.Sounds like we almost match.Too bad we couldn't all hang out for drinks on a patio or deck. What would they call us; a flock of J.Crews? A gaggle of Aficinatoes?

a: I received the same email and I have been watching my credit card account like a hawk. The letter seems so personal, yet it was strangely form style. If there's a blimp with some double charges or other monkey business I will contact my gal Brittany. She's makes all my J.Crew troubles vanish.

    ReplyDelete
  52. blumre: that one is even cuter! I love the brown...

I definitely recommend getting a BR card by the way. Once you get up to Luxe status (which trust me, does not take long) shipping is always free, they send you coupons all the time (for BR, ON and Gap), and you can use it at all three stores. it's much better than the jcrew one.

    ReplyDelete
  53. blumre: I just checked out the BR jacket and it's gorgeous! You have a good eye for fashion. I bet the style would work on a lot of people too. I may have to go to my local BR now to try it on.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Kater: Thanks! I think I will ;)

FYI they also have a very cute tote: kind of reminds me of a bric tote or a longchamp material (its not online though) but its only $49!!!!!!

Also I got my chinos this a.m. They are labeled a T4- one of them fits like a T14 (literlally I could fit 2 of me in them) and the other fits like a T6. The label says T4... but they are definitely not, esp because in the alpine green the t4 fits like a glove! I called my PS hopefully she can solve it for me! This is such an odd problem!

    ReplyDelete
  55. ALY: Thank you what a lovely compliment!!!:)

    ReplyDelete
  56. blumre: FAB job on the links! Like I said...it's really easy once you get the hang of it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Well, FFM, I have a great teacher ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Love the jacket blumre! I actually got a similar brown one from j.crew a couple of years ago, but it also had suede elbow patches...which i have a love hate relationship with. I might like the BR one better.

What does it mean if the UPS tracking number doesn't work? Have any of had this happen before?

    ReplyDelete
  59. If anyone sees a small flowy jersey bateau dress in dark slate, would you mind letting me know? I would really appreciate it!

    ReplyDelete
  60. blumre - FYI -- the 20% coupon cannot be combined. I put that on a little note in the envelope, but just wanted to let you know now as you plan and scheme ;-)

Sam - The closest b&m doesn't have men's clothing, but yes the shirt might indeed be $10 higher online.

Cristin - I got short shipped on 1 order and got the runaround on the missing piece so I canx that item. I recvd the next order without a hitch and was very happy. That order took 2 days to process before they sent out confirmation and the tracking number was correct. I placed an order late Tue nite and all of the items are still OPEN. I agree w/Cristin. Order if you'd like but don't pin your hopes on it.

Anonymous @ 5:24 AM - I've used Dryel for suits and it worked. It's worth it to get a kit for your sweaters.

kate! - I stopped trying to figure out email or online updates. It's futile imo since there are still web issues.

Lauren Harris - I sized up in the flowy jersey bateau dress. The key word is flowy so it has a looser fit and it really starts flowing from the waist. Sounds like you'd be an XS and still have plenty of room for the bottom. However, if you have an ample chest and/or want to wear a button down underneath, get a S.

marisa - The perfect fit tees went down to $14.99 or $9.99 in my local b&ms plus 40% off so I haven't seen many at all.

jcrewbug - If you spent $200, you would have saved $30. I would ask for an adjustment even though they're not supposed to make them on prev purchases. I never got the email the day everyone was talking about it. And yesterday I finally got a coupon for it in the mail. Sounds like you didn't get the email.

    ReplyDelete
  61. oops -- that last info about the 15% BR discount was for Emily, not jcrewbug. I just woke up. ;-)

  62. caw: The Michigan Ave. store had navy Piper tanks Thursday afternoon. As far as size, I only know they had none in size 0 (the size I was looking for). They also had a few in a pale gray color, and tons of Amelia tanks in sweet papaya.

    ReplyDelete
  63. caw: Try the Orlando store for the Piper Tanks...they had several last week, but I'm not sure on the sizes. 407-226-9732 :) Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete
  64. you girls are great! thanks for the info...and the enabling, figure one more piper tank at that price won't be that bad....

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thanks gigiofca!

I'm still so bummed about my Florentine skirt. If they are sold out in the warehouse, is there a chance one might be floating in stores? Would a CSR do a seach for me???

    ReplyDelete
  66. Emily: CRS will not usually perform a find it now search for you on sale items. Thats one where you have to call yourself! Sorry to tell you that

    ReplyDelete
  67. JCrewJunkie: Thanks for the nice words! I am still jet lagged, but I am thrilled to be back home!!! :)

  68. Jcrew guy in Canada - so good to hear I'm not the only one! Yeah I was a bit upset when I got it yesterday and have been monitoring my credit card all day...I got that it was a form letter when I saw "the recent glitches meant that we shipped some of your orders in multiple packages" - and that didn't happen to me! I either didn't get the order, got it partially shipped (or on a rare occasion) got it shipped complete in one box!

    Hopefully we'll be fine...

    ReplyDelete
  69. Blumre: I guess deep down I knew that, but I am so bummed!

On a side note, in my trip to BR last night, they were having super deals on their dress pants. Picked up a pair of grey with light blue pinestripe for $16, even without an extra discount! Happy shopping!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Here is a pic of the BR tote that blumre has referred to a couple of times.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yes, I got the white eyelet jacket at BR that I had been eyeing all summer. It was well made and a steal at $30 compared to the eyelet JCrew jacket....I have always liked BR but not as much as JCrew but the tide is changing. My hubby prefers BR and the Luxe card is nice for the free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Gigiofca, I think you can move the handles around so you can adjust the bag to your needs and your fit! :)

How do you get these awesome pictures???

    ReplyDelete
  73. i'm desperately looking for the flamenco dot popover in a 10. has anyone seen any around?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thanks for all the help with the flowy bateau dress, everyone! I put in an order for an X-Small today (I have a very small chest..)
I can't wait for it to get here!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Re: BR jacket...I think they just raised the price $2 to $150...didn't it used to be $148? It's now showing $150 online...interesting. I guess now you can use the 15% off $150 coupon without buying something extra.

    ReplyDelete
  76. blumre -- I didn't investigate the handles at all. I was too focused on the holes at the top. I'm sure there is a sewing term for them. If you can reposition the handles for sizing that makes it 10x cooler.

I took that pic in the dressing room. *lol* I'm not the best undercover reporter since I get home and can't recall all the features/measurements of things, but I try.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I just visited the Lenox Square store and the sale selection is quite sparse at this point. They did have a fair number of shorts in various lengths marked down to $29.99 before the additional 40 percent. Otherwise, it looked like a lot of returned items. I'll definitely be waiting until it cools down a bit here in Atlanta and will then dig into the fall stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I am wanting to place an order for the Flamenco Dot cardigan. Does anyone have the sweater? I normally take an XS in most of JCrew cardigans though sometimes I do size up to a S in the Jackie. Also what do you where under it? Is it to thin to where a black cami under it?

    ReplyDelete
  79. anon 2:11, I have the Flamenco Dot cardigan - just wore it yesterday for the first time with the ivory Elizabeth halter. I got tons of compliments. I have it in the same size as the regular Jackie's I have.

    ReplyDelete
  80. The b&m in Copley Place in Boston had the Flamenco Dot Cardigan in there store along with the Jackies for full price. There was only one though and it was an xsmall.

Other than that, the sale section was pretty sparse with a some pleated silky jersey tops, some sort of cropped pants, and the sleeveless cashmere sweater that people mentioned earlier. The exact name escapes me.

  82. Hi All!

(to borrow hex's analogy) I had a fling with my ex today. :) My mom and I had a fun visit at my b&m and came out with some goodies. Below, I listed some of the sale items that I remembered seeing for those of you who are interested. The store is in Southlake, Tx and the number is 817-416-1098.

We're having tax free weekend right now so I'm not sure but maybe you could save the tax as well. :)

-Florentine Pencil Skirt (I think it came out to 42 or 46 after the 40% off)
    -Flamenco Dot Popover
-Piper tanks in gray and Navy
-Flowy bateau dress slate and strawberry
-Antonia dress in Flame 119.99 plus 40% off
-silky jersey tank in sour lemon 34.99 plus 40% off
    -Elizabeth Halter in white
-perfect-fit tees in brown, gray, navy, green, black and some other colors I can't remember

Sorry, I didn't notice a lot of the prices or sizes but they had MANY of each of these items (except for the popover), that you would probably have some luck.

Good Luck all! Let me know if you end up with some goodies or need me to do some more sleuthing. I may go back tonight to do some returns from previous purchases.

  83. Reporting from Valley Fair,San Jose they have additional 40% of on all sales section, there are many colors of piper tanks - navy, silver, fuschia, green - all are marked 49.99, they also have tons of red and bright green bermuda shorts, Fiona in papaya size 8 and 10 for 29.99 ,San Telmo -I think for 49.99,Tulip in green and black for 49.99, also some other short sleeve jackets for 29.99,lots of perfect fit T-shirts,and dresses...
In fact the sale section was looking better than couple of weeks ago.
I just picked Fiona in Papaya ,unfortunately I had to pick up as they did not have size 6 but I thought under $20 is too good to pass. The jacket is anyways boxy..
I also have ordered from the web site- two orders one placed last friday and one on Tue- both say shipped...so lets see. They are small orders ,didnt want to risk too much disappointment!!!
I had not ordered anything since the web fiasco.

  84. Miramar: That is an amazing sale section! I was there just Wednesday and they didn't have any of that stuff at all!! Darn, I can't believe I missed it, I've been dying to see a summer Fiona in person!!

  85. Oh, Forgot to mention my b&m also has the line-silk beach cardi in ivory and navy for 69.99 plus 40% off and lots of the Olivia Cashmere Shell in Navy, Snow, Geranium, Sour Lemon and Brilliant Blue for 99.99 plus 40% off coming to 59.99.

I got the Navy and Snow and found it to be much cuter than expected and very flattering. The v is not as low as I thought. I would not have to wear a cami under it. Yay!

  86. I'm going with a "no" on someone who asked if it was safe to order-- two of my items were cancelled without warning, but I was charged for them. CS has been good though, they've apologized, refunded, and say that it would be ok for me to return the jacket (to a suit that I bought as a set, the pants were not in inventory) even though the jacket is on final sale.

Lots of summer things (tank tops, bermuda shorts) in my stores in DFW, mostly of the 12-14 size range; extra 40% off but all on final sale. It's also tax-free this weekend. I bought a pair of matchstick jeans for $25 and the red jelly flats for $15. I looooooove these shoes.

  87. kat, hope I am not too late, but I stopped by the Georgetown store on Wednesday and was pretty disappointed. It was very picked over. Has anyone been to the Friendship Heights or Pentagon City one?

    ReplyDelete
  88. i went to friendship heights last friday and it was the same old items. pentagon city had a couple more newer items like the silk jersey tees and tanks. i'm checking out tysons today and will report back :)

  89. I didn't browse the sale section at Bellevue Square that closely but it looked like it was mostly flip flops and chino shorts.

They did have several sweet orange Candaces--my new favorite jacket!

  90. My local B&M was completely picked over today, but there were a lot of silver Piper tanks. Now is it just my imagination or was someone looking for one of those? If anyone still is, the number of the store is 434.975.2889. :)

  91. My b&m had a very small sale section. Just odds and ends. They did have 4-5 pairs of white trouser jeans, and 2 pair of cropped matchstick jeans. Other than that, it was 1 or 2 of an item.

  92. math teacher: So glad your visit to the b&m was an enjoyable one, and congrats on the Denim Pencil Skirt...that was one I contemplated buying, but ended up with the Dream Tie Cardi, instead. They look really great together, so I will probably get the skirt when it goes on sale. :) Btw...you should get the package from me by Monday or Tuesday...I mailed it out yesterday by Priority Mail. :)

  93. ffm: thanks. Two reasons I went ahead and bought the skirt: my sa said they've been selling like crazy and I won't be wearing cords until end of November, early December. It just stays too warm here. Plus, I know the cords will be on promotion at some point. And, thanks for the heads up on the package. I was just expecting regular mail. :)

  94. hey everyone - I just got back from a j.crew (pentagon city) and old navy. I'll go through j.crew first, but overall, I put a major dent in my wallet!

    j crew:
the sale section at pentagon city was pretty picked over. the most notable thing I saw were the silky jersey pleated tops in black, poppy and one of the yellows.

I picked up my wool fiona in papaya and adore it. also got the belle skirt in dark fog. the SA even let me layer my student discount on the fiona, which was also on 25% promotion, and I was really surprised. way to go j.crew inconsistency.

I also tried on the blue astrid with all the ruffles and berries and the dream tie cardi and LOVED both. I held off on the astrid because 1) the unfinished edges of the ruffles worry me in terms of unraveling and getting really gross, 2) it's such a statement piece I'm not sure where I would wear it and 3) since the stores seem to be carrying it, there might actually be a chance of it going on sale and still being around. I am definitely going to get the dream tie cardi as soon as I get a good coupon though. I'm thinking the dark eggplant color.

    old navy:
I had an awesome time, and got way too much. I found the ON version of the belle skirt in black, and like FFM, sizing up made it fit just like the belle at crew. Even better, it was $8 after my discount! I also purchased black and gray argyle ruffle cardis, a pair of pink oxford pj pants, and a really cute shirt dress. It was crazy! I'm happy with all the purchases though, and since it was the "stuff and save" promotion, I got 20% off of everything.

sorry for the long post, I'm just so excited about all my purchases!

  95. kater: Congrats and thanks for the report! ON sounds awesome. I wish my wallet could afford the trip!! What color/size of the dream tie did you try on? I ordered a small in the eggplant and found it to be kind of big although the color was very nice. I might exchange it for an XS in navy in the store or reorder the eggplant smaller. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  96. jcrewbug: I tried on a large dream-tie cardi, which is the size I normally wear (well, normally a year or two ago, now my crew clothes are probably 1/2 and 1/2 M and L). I liked how it fit, but I had to cinch the waist pretty tightly. i don't think I would go down a size because there wouldn't be enough chest room, at least for me. I think a smaller sweater would be more empire with my chest, and I liked the tie at the waist.

Are you busty (as my mom would say)? If you don't ever have an issue with chest room in crew clothes, I think you would be fine to go down a size.

    sorry for the long response!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Kater: Thanks for the response! I'm not busty - about a 34B. So I think I'll go down a size. I'm interested to see where the tie hits in the smaller size. Right now it's at my waist.

    ReplyDelete
  98. jcrewbug: I'm pretty sure FFM said her tie is still at her waist, and I know she sized down.

what is the eggplant color like in person? my store only had navy and honey glaze...:)

    ReplyDelete
  99. Kater: It's actually a very nice purple. Def not as bright as some of the purples I saw in the store recently but not as dark as the Welsh purple ballet flats I own. I think it has just enough brightness to stand out nicely. :) I debated on replacing it with navy because it would be easier to just exchange in the store since they don't have eggplant but I think I'll stick with it. I actually think it is more versatile than navy cause it will go very nicely with blacks, grays, and browns. :)

  100. jcrewbug: you are so right about eggplant going with more! My mind is made up, I'm going with that color. I love navy, and have a ton of it, but always forget when I'm buying it that it pretty much only goes with other navies and gray!

  101. Has anyone seen the pleated garden skirt in person? I'm up late procrastinating on work and and trying not to buy it.

    ReplyDelete
  102. jcrewbug, procrastinating as well here, unfortunately I haven't seen it but I read in one of the earlier threads that someone said this skirt has a bit of poof to it (and she didn't really care for it). It does look pretty though, I'm thinking about it too actually :)

ps. I've noticed that sometimes I can do a google search for an item and it takes me to a thread in this blog where it was mentioned. (I just tried it and it did show this skirt was mentioned in a July 17 thread).

  103. hannah: Thanks! I'll check out the google trick. I'm trying to stop shopping because I want to save some for when the fall stuff goes on sale. But I just can't help looking for bargains! I really like the silver/gray in the skirt.

I can't stop looking at the Simone jacket - it's crazily expensive for what it is. I'm curious what they will mark it down to.

    ReplyDelete
  104. jcrewbug: I didn't like the way the garden skirt sat on my waist. The waistline is pretty thin so the skirt is just there, poof, for everything to hang out. I think that would be fine if it was stretchy, but it's not. And the pleats make it stick out funny. :) Just my thoughts, though! I'm sure some people are big fans.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Thanks Melanie! I think that I probably shouldn't buy it without trying it on, especially since it's final sale.

I've got something else to stare at for awhile anyway. Have you seen the Simone Jacket? I'm going to stalk it until it goes on sale.
    :)

    ReplyDelete
  106. jcrewbug: Oh! I haven't seen that jacket in person but have heard it's a bit boxy. I wonder if it's sort of like the way everyone thinks the herringbone Fiona is boxy?

Also, my fiancee caught me leaving this comment and just told me he had to cut me off from this blog. :) Then he sort of rolled his eyes and told me to try not to spend too much time here.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Melanie: My fiance knows my obsession exists as well and has tried to understand it but he just can't. :) He peaks at my computer screen no longer!

The Simone says its boxy, I'd love to try it on. I'm addicted to cropped coats like this for some reason :)
