Yes, it is that wonderful time again! :)
A big "thanks!" goes to RatsOnParade who let us know that J.Crew is offering 15% off online & phone orders with promo code F5X73L. This offer also appears to have no minimums. There are some restrictions though- the items have to be full-priced and the offer cannot be combined with any other promotion. This offer expires 8/30/08. (I must add, I am not sure if this is a one-time use code.)
"Thanks!" again to RatsOnParade!
WOW!! Awesome code!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know when this one came out? I placed two orders this week and am wondering if I can get a credit. (I placed one today)
I was just wondering the same thing! I ordered the Fleur heels but am b/o until Sept. I would love 15% off. Hmmm but I did use a free shipping code. Wonder if they would honor both??
ReplyDeleteopps didn't mean to use my full name there:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rats On Parade! One can never have too many codes! :)
ReplyDeleteI just order 5 Perfect Tees Henleys fp, and I also used the SHOP code.
ReplyDeleteAlexis great blog, I have saved money by reading all the information posed here.
Hi all! OT, In the "Seek & Find" post, I just listed a bunch of items I saw on sale at my b&m today. Thought I'd mention it here since it's the most current thread.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted everyone to know that I placed some orders last week online and emailed CS, as I usually do, to apply my student discount to the orders which were final sale, and also used the SHOP code for free shipping. I just received an email back from CS saying that they will not apply the discount because the items were on sale and I had used a free shipping code; in other words, they will not use multiple discounts on a single order.
ReplyDeleteAs you can imagine, I responded to that email. I will let you know what they tell me.
You know, I am just really tired of all this $%@# with J.Crew. I really like their clothes, but it is such a hassle to get anything from them. I feel like I need to fight to get anything done and frankly, I am sick of it. I, like many, have spent hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars with them just in the last few months, and all they have done in return is jerk me around. If I had known I could not use my student discount anymore on final sale items with a free shipping code, I would not have placed the orders. If this is their new policy, as that earlier post combined with this email seems to indicate, they just lost a frequent customer. I'll still buy occasionally, but not like I do now, just based on principle. I believe it was Hexicon who analogized J.Crew to an abusive boyfriend, and I totally agree. J.Crew is toxic, and has taken all the enjoyment out of shopping for me.
ReplyDeletemichelle-
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to feel your pain! I'm impressed they actually e-mail you back at all. I have sent three e-mails in the last couple of weeks, and I received only one response which stated they got my mail, but were too busy to respond. It went on to suggest I call them directly. Why put the contact address on there if you aren't going to answer? This is the first true glitch I've had during this never-ending upgrade process.
michelle, I totally agree. I recently placed orders with Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Bluefly with zero problems, shopping should not be a hassle and JCrew is turning into a hassle. Obviously I still like their stuff, but the website fiasco has not been resolved, and the whole business with clamping down on discounts/promo codes is ridiculous.
ReplyDeletemichelle: the email you received is very frustrating and disheartening...I am just at a loss as to why they would start *enforcing* this policy after all this time. It just doesn't make sense...especially since all the SA's at the store and CS reps on the phone have been doing it with a big smile for weeks now. The whole situation is just unbelievable. Shopping should be an enjoyable experience, not one that causes anxiety and frustration.
ReplyDeleteweab - THANKS SOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THE INFO!!! i called and placed an order, i really appreciate it
ReplyDeletemichelle: you sound exactly the way I felt yesterday. I am in complete agreement with you that it shouldn't be this stressful. I really believe they are trying to "whiddle down" their market.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you were to place your order over the phone and insist on the discount being processed while you wait, if they would be less resistant? When it's emailed and documented, it's easier for them to refuse you. I don't know if you even care to deal with it anymore at this point.. just a thought.
Kate! YAY! What did you get?
Anon at 5:18 PM: Thanks for the nice comment about the blog. It's the members that makes this blog so great- I find I have learned so much from everyone else here. :)
ReplyDeletemichelle -- That's disheartening.
ReplyDeletekate! - Yeah...what'dyou get?
Quick question...are we not to use our real names? I almost slipped and did so myself today! :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 6:58 PM: You can choose to use your real name or not. But as a just in case, you may be better off not displaying it since this is a public blog. :)
ReplyDeleteHi guys--
ReplyDeleteLove the blog! Question, so the TX store weab mentioned has the Elizabeth halter (which i LOVE) for $50 and then 40% off. But online it is regular priced and my local store is out of it (and it was never on sale there). How can I get it for the sale price? I don't live anywhere near TX.
If you guys have any advice, I'd appreciate it!
Anonymous at 6:58 PM: One more thing- I was only referring to using your entire real name (first and last name). I don't think displaying your real first name would encounter any issues. :)
ReplyDeletei got the elizabeth halter (white) $23 + shipping. i am completely obsessed with that shirt! Funny thing i called once and talked to a guy who said they only had the small in (his words) "REALLY bright yellow." i called back two minutes later talked to a girl and she found the white in a small right away! wondering if the guy really checked....
ReplyDeletecindy - i think the reason this elizabeth halter is on sale is that it is the spring halter which is a cotton/silk blend, the new one is 100% silk. I'm not completely sure thats why, but its just a hunch.
cindy: I would just call the Tx store and ask if they have the size you're looking for and confirm price at that point. Then have them send it to you. I think the b&m's are more reliable than the web right now anyway.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone ever mixed fabrics for a suit in JCrew's suiting line? I'm thinking about doing it based on what sizes/cuts are available on sale. I was wondering if I just got black if the different material would be noticeable.
ReplyDeleteAre some in store sales still offering additional 40% off? I think the nyc store on Madison was referenced at some point but I don't know if that's still going on...
ReplyDeletekate!: congrats on your great deal! I bet I know exactly who you're talking about. They are a little swamped right now since it's tax free weekend here. But I'm sure the first person didn't check and wasn't even sure which item you were talking about. Anyway, I'm so glad it worked out!
ReplyDeleteAre some in store sales still offering additional 40% off? I think the nyc store on Madison was referenced at some point but I don't know if that's still going on...
ReplyDeleteapologies for the double post! I punched in the wrong name the first time
ReplyDeleteQuestion - if you call a b&m for an item and they have it, are you charged shipping? If so, is it the same prices as online?
ReplyDeletejan - Hi. I was at b&m today and it was still 40% off sale.
gigiofca, thanks for letting me know. I'd like to phone in and see if they could match it but I'm thinking I should hold off till this 30% thing is over, in case they give me hard time.
ReplyDeleteI had heard that the shipping rates are the same if you have it sent from the store. But I've never done it, I'm sure someone here could confirm it for you.
gigiofca - yes your charged shipping, and i'm 99% sure its the same as online :(
ReplyDeleteAmy - I'm kind of picky when it comes to suits and personally like for the pieces to match in fabric and color. However, if mixing the fabrics is the only way you can afford a j crew suit and you need it for something important like a job interview, I think you could do a lot worse!
ReplyDeleteHi Jan! The stores that I went to last week all carried the 40% off for final sale items. Hopefully the stores near you still have some good bargains left. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a really boring question...but I've read several comments on how you all love jcrew's tanks. I want to get some very basic ones, like the favorite tanks. I normally love tanks with shelf bras in them, but sometimes those fit a little differently than those without. Which ones do y'all prefer?
ReplyDeleteEveryone + Mary who wanted me to report on my red phone experience today -->
ReplyDeleteI went to b&m and used the red phone. As I wrapped my order up I asked the CS if she could apply the 40% additional sale. She said yes, if I could get a CS on the phone to verify it. She needed to get the store# and their empl#. A big pita because the store was so busy at that moment and all the SAs were very occupied. She reviewed the order and I still couldn't find anyone free. I asked the CS if she'd call the store and verify and she said no, I had to get someone on the phone. Then the CS put *me* on hold. While I was waiting a SA stopped to talk to me. I asked her if she'd give the store info and she said yes. The timing was great because the CS got back on the phone and was able to verify the info w/the store assoc. So aside from having to grab a store assoc to verify the info, the 40% was not a problem.
I then asked the CS if she'd apply a shipping code to my order. She was unfamiliar w/SHOP, asked if it was all caps, I said yes and she put it in. So I got that discount, too. I didn't feel bad about it at all and made a comment about how I'd be lucky if I recvd all the items. She said that there was plenty of everything I had ordered so it shouldn't be a problem. She said if *she* sees that there is only one or two left in an item, she will tell the guest that it's not available. I guess the ordering system just isn't in real time. That means the CS is seeing info that isn't accurate. I guess we can expect our chinos are going to be there if the system says so, but good luck on more coveted items. I did feel like she gave me a couple of hurdles, but overall the CS was great. She even did some suggestive selling, which I haven't heard in a long time.
It's taken many visits, but I am now being recognized & acknowledged in the store. It's a great feeling. I talked w/the store merchant, which is a cool title. I guess he is resp for the merchandise and does the windows. He mentioned another merchant from another store and I actually knew who he was talking about! That's scary. Feeling like a groupie...
Oh, we also discussed the website and he admitted it's still an issue. We already know that. It looks like they can't figure out the bugs, though, and that's a scary thing. The SA said his friend wonders why they didn't just shut the system down for a week and I think we all would have preferred that. They def need to solicit the big dogs of coding and have it taken care of once and for all.
This reminds me of a restuarant I worked for that stayed open for the entire course of a million dollar remodel. I remember one day walking through and the roofers were nailing. There were bits and pieces flying around like we were in a war zone. My other favorite part was when they were doing electrical and only 1 credit card machine was working. This was not a small restuarant. We could have 40 waiters working during peak. We were so frustrated that we put the ccs down outside near the machine and on the asphalt in a row and continued to wait tables until our turn to swipe the guests' cards. I think I was an alcoholic that year.
Dang, I wrote a novel. Sorry ;-)
ReplyDeleteI received my order that was placed on Tuesday. Everything fits great and looks good. The Italian chino pants in navy are a very dark navy and a fine cotton. They came long; aka unhemmed so I'm off to the tailor tomorrow. The tag read dry clean only, but they are unlined and all cotton so I washed them in cold and hung them to dry.
ReplyDeleteHave any of you done the same? The only J.Crew clothing I dry clean are the merino sweaters and wool pants. I even hand wash the cashmere sweaters.
Comments?
Just ordered something using the red phone and was not able to combine the teacher's discount with the 40% extra. I called back to talk to another CS, and she said the same thing. She said it is part of the NEW POLICY, just like they won't ship sale items for free even if you have full priced items. So I'm not sure if in the future Jcrew will slowly stop combining those discounts. The second CS finally said she was going to combine it for me, but for THIS TIME only. One thing that really bug me was when she said, "55% off is a lot, we can't really give that..."
ReplyDeleteMy B&M had no problems at all combining the extra 40% with my teacher's discount. If stores can do it without judging that a customer is getting too much discount, why can't CS do it over the phone? Plus, the whole point of sales is to stimulate sales, is jcrew not wanting us to buy or what???
jcrew guy in canada: Congratulations on receiving your order...I'm glad everything fits well and looks good. :) To answer your question about laundering: I hand wash almost all of my dry clean and dry clean only garments, sometimes I even put them in the washing machine on delicate cycle in cold water...they have been fine. I do have several silk taffeta pieces that I have not attempted to hand wash, but I fear taking them to the dry cleaner as the last one I used ruined them. I was recently able to re-purchase them off of final sale and don't want to risk the new ones being ruined, as well. I think I will try Dryel first, and if it doesn't work then I will hand wash in the sink.
ReplyDeleteHas your friend found you anything else? She's in Vegas, right?
OT: The male model from the J.Crew Paris shoot is now in the current ads for EXPRESS...I wish J.Crew would use him again. :)
ReplyDeleteFFM: My friend got me the shirt I wanted. It's a blue tartan favorite washed one. She sent me a text to tell me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on washing dry clean only. I just checked the pants and they look fine. I'm hanging them dry.
I don't think 15% off the full price is that big of a deal.
ReplyDeleteEspecially since they were offering 20% off in stores with the coupon they were keeping behind the counter. If I spend $85.00 I'll just cover the cost of shipping by .25 cents. Oh well, I guess it's good if you were purchasing merchandise regardless of whether or not you could save a buck. (I hope my math is correct, I have been drinking ;}

Wow! I am amazed regarding the teacher/student discount email Michelle. I am quickly reaching the point of annoyance with the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteNo consistency at all. Although I make this complaint and they will just make things more expensive in store.
I have almost $1000 worth of regular price items in my cart right now. This is just my first pass at fall. I was on infertility treatments, going through IVF and then (finally) pregnant for years. I went a long time without spending much on my wardrobe and am making up for it.
My point? I don't see a real need to buy it because all the other retailers are begging for my business.
One thing that I just thought of....Retailers are judged by same store sales for earning reports. In this poor financial climate, offering all the perks in store will really help (and has based on the last numbers I saw). This makes investors happy and has actually changed analysts' recommendations on JC. I really think this has something to do with it. B&M sales make up the majority of JC sales.
memphian -- Congrats on the babies. That warms my heart. You are absolutely right about earning report calculations. I saw something on TV about how online sales should be counted for the total number but they're not.
ReplyDeleteOf course you can't combine codes. A lot of retailers don't let you. JC isn't the first, and certainly not the last. I'm sure complaining about it won't fix the problem, right? It seems so silly and unnecessary to trash a good company because you don't agree with their policies!
ReplyDeleteI think this site is better used for fashion discussion, good buys and how we've scored some nice looking outfits.
Hi all - Thank you for your support. I apologize in advance for the length of this comment; I just wanted to respond to everyone. I got so frustrated earlier that I turned off my computer and cleaned my entire house to blow off steam. So the good part is I now have a spotless house ... J.Crew, my fiance is very grateful.
ReplyDeleteJanek: I am not at all surprised that they have not emailed you. They had the nerve to respond to my email a week late, and then tell me that it doesn't matter because they aren't going to honor my student discount. I am glad you were able to resolve your problem over the phone though, at least that's something.
Hannah: I know what you mean! It's not until I shop somewhere else that I realize how easy and fun shopping used to be. I can buy things and not have that final-sale-knot in my stomach. It's also a great feeling to buy things on sale and not feel like a second-class-citizen for doing so. I think I am going to look into some other retailers for a while.
FFM: I have no idea why they are doing this now either. I think it directly corresponds with their increasing the discount from 10% to 15%. J.Crew is so proud of itself for increasing the discount ... "Look at what we did for you!!" ... but to make up for the loss in revenue they are severely restricting when you can use it. Thanks, but no thanks.
Weab: Thanks for your suggestion. I am really not into the idea of fighting on the phone right now. I am going to see how they respond to my email; if I don't get my discount then I will call. Ordinarily, something like this would be annoying, but it wouldn't get me this upset. Right now I am just feeling like this is the straw that broke the camel's back.
Tired Memphian: You have been through so much, and you definitely deserve clothes that make you happy from a retailer who treats you with respect. I hope you have fun putting together your new wardrobe! That must be very exciting :) Personally, I really think I am done with J.Crew for a while.
This is OT, but thought I'd share my phone purchase. I ordered last Thursday (8/7), just one item. I ordered another item on Wednesday, and I've already received shipping notice. So, I've been keeping an eye on the older order. I finally called tonight, she was gone a long time trying to find out what had happened. When she came back, she said she didn't know what was wrong, but that there were plenty in inventory. If I don't hear by Monday that it's shipped, I'm to call back. She put a notice out for "them" to look for my order. She ended with telling me I could have free shipping due to the problem. When I mentioned that I'd already gotten free shipping, she said she'd take 30% off instead. So, if it comes and I do get another 30% (on top of the 40% I got originally), I'll be so happy. Now I wish I had ordered more than just one top! :)
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I'll be heading to my b&m in the morning to pick up my penelope flats and try on more items, including the tie cardigan. Let's see if I can remember all the wish list items without a list! :P
Thanks everyone...I love my kids and this last struggle was worth it (well my youngest is cutting molars so it's a rough night ;o)
ReplyDeleteI too am just going to look and see what's out there. I am now addicted to jackets (especially sweater jackets!). I had a couple at BR.com catch my eye. I'll likely go to BR for now. The final sale is really rough since the sizing for JC is now so inconsistent. The things I really like cost a fortune to tailor but I tend to be happy. BUT, I found out my tailor handles the alterations for both JC and BR here. That's a perk for me at BR. Plus, if I buy items online and need to take back markdowns, the store doesn't need to look for my order notes. They just take it back so I can order more than one size at a time. What a thought....make shopping convenient for customers.
I don't know. I got THREE order cancellations in the last hour via email from JC. I just never get these issues with BR (or anyplace else for that matter).
I ordered my oldest some videos for her birthday. I ordered it Sunday since her big day is next Tuesday. Do you know I received it this Tuesday! I order off EBay and I get it right away. Even Target is faster than JC right now and target is really slow....
I'm rambling but please refrain from rude comments. The trolling can be annoying.
michelle, a break is perfectly understandable. I'm not sure what style of clothes you like but I've been really happy with my orders from those other sites. It made me realize that its nice to mix it up a bit. I realized there are lots of details and styles that JCrew just doesn't do. I've found some beautiful vintage-ish and feminine clothes and accessories from UO and Anth, sure quality is so-so, and you have to be super selective, but the same goes for JCrew one could argue. Bluefly also has a great return policy and return shipping is free if you opt for store credit (they even enclose a dhl bag for you). I got the most beautiful dress by Parameter there. It was fabulous to buy everything on sale with the option to return.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to add that I just purchased some tops from Target for under my J Crew Cardis. You have to be super selective of course but it is nice to have dressy looking tops that can be washed easily for under dry clean only items. Mizrahi has some cute pleated-type tops there now - I got a few in white, green, and black. Also gives my wallet a break and my fiance doesn't question purchases from Target cause that is where I get a lot of our household stuff - just add a shirt here or there :)
ReplyDeleteFinally, they threw a bone to web/catalog customers . . . not that I got the e-mail or anything! Of course the discount is so meager that it barely covers shipping.
ReplyDeleteI made the trek up to B&M today. I will have to report more later but I had a good experience. The PS was on vacation but I was given an appointment with an SA. Selection was not fabulous but SA was very pleasant.
I used the personal shopper 20% coupon on in-store purchases and was also allowed to use the code for Red Phone orders of some catalog-only items, Plus, they waived shipping.
Blumre: Not sure if you are around, but my Academy Cardi in Fresh Pine was cancelled so I won't be able to review it for you. Surprise surprise.
ReplyDeleteJCrewBug - I agree about looking at Target items. Some have been very good, esp the pieces for layering. The cheapie label is Xhilaration, so take your chances with that. The Mossimo tends to be much better quality and they have cute styles. Isaac Mizrahi moved to Claiborne, so this is his last year designing for Target.
ReplyDeletehexicon - I've been wondering how you fared today w/the ex. Looking forward to the report!
by "rambling" you mean complaining? :P
ReplyDeleteI'm new to this site. A lot of you ladies talk about being "done" with Jcrew. If you're "done", why do you keep being so angry and shopping with the company? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to understand the multiple posts slamming the company....thank you!
ReplyDeleteTracy, to respond to your question, I would compare my relationship with J.Crew to a "bad boyfriend"--someone who takes me for granted and takes advantage of me, but whom I can't quite give up because I'm so attracted . . .
ReplyDeleteI love J.Crew's merchandise but as you can see from the other posts here, J.Crew's recent web update has resulted in a lot of poor customer service (lost orders, double-charges, botched refunds, etc.) Also, J.Crew does not treat its web customers and its store customers equally. I had a nice experience at the B&M today so I'm feeling more positive about my "relationship" but as a 95% online customer I'm frustrated that I am treated unequally.
Got it :) I think like with most things, the problems will work themselves out. The CS people are probably overworked knowing that every day they come into work, 2 out of 3 calls, someone is going to call to crap on them. I would be miserable too if I knew my job entailed answering those calls!!! The store people on the other hand have a seemingly more personal touch (and probably a easier job because they interact with us one on one, make eye contact, can read our feelings...), which is why we all love the b/m stores! Hang in there- I can't imagine a great company like this continuing on this crazy path!
ReplyDeleteI caved and ordered the Solid Piper tank in ivory. It is still sale but was b/o. Is that weird??
ReplyDeletepink1 - what is b/o?
ReplyDeleteAmy, I think you could mix the wool gab with the super 120s, but you could not mix either with the wool crepe.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have two suits in wool crepe and really don't like it--it is almost as bad a pet hair/lint magnet as flannel. Highly recommend gab or super 120s.
That's funny, I have three crepe suits and I love them. Plus I have an additional three pairs of crepe pants without matching jackets. I love the matte texture. I have one gab suit and it's itchy and hot. I can wear my crepe year round, literally. I'll have to try the super 120's - I also have a pair of the "new" gab pants on order. They're supposed to be softer.
ReplyDeleteHee, Molly, different strokes!
ReplyDeleteI should say that I like the drape and movement of the crepe, but I can put on a pair of pants straight from the dry cleaners bag and by the time I'm in the car it looks like my cat slept on me!
Of course, it's Mr. Hex's fault for getting that $%#% white cat. Cats should be black so that it doesn't matter if they shed all over your dark suit when you kiss them goodbye in the morning!
When I was in B&M yesterday the SA showed me a really nice wrap or faux wrap flannel suiting dress, but I knew I'd have to pass on it. I don't get itchy from the gab but I do from the flannel.
Darn white cat! :-)
ReplyDeleteI do like the luster of the gab. It's very pretty. I'm hoping this new gab will be lighter weight.
I will say one thing about the crepe - I get creases across my lap from sitting. I don't like that part. I have to be careful to arrange my pants before I sit down. Other than that, it's true love.
Hex, what style of pants do you like? Maybe it's my age, but I adore Original fit. And crepe is the only fabric offered in that cut, so maybe that has something to do with it.
back order:)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried using this latest code yet? I tried it online and it didn't work :-(
ReplyDeleteHi, Thank you very much for sharing a code. I really thank you all for useful information and do love this blog!!! But I am wondering whether it is fair to share non-regular promotional code like this.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I got the same code from J.Crew with an apology email for my canceled orders. I had been really looking forward to those items for a month (some items for 3 months), I was truly disappointed and sad. However, I did not complain this time as I know J.Crew apologized and tries to compensate for customers' opportunity losses. I usually post seasonal promotion codes to this blog every time I get them, but this time, I did not post this code. I just don't feel it is fair to J.Crew. If everyone takes advantage of this code, J.Crew will incur expenses much more than expected. I am concerned that it may lead J.Crew to decide not to provide any promotional codes in the future.
Anyway, I do hope that J.Crew will be able to overcome this mess and stay as a great company.
Molly, I'm glad original is back too.
ReplyDeletePant rise is a two-edged sword for me. One of my nice features (if I do say so myself) is a small waist, two sizes smaller than my hips. The bad news about low rise pants is that they don't really show off this advantage. The good part is that I can buy pants to fit my hips and not have to alter them. When waists were higher, I'd have to spend $20 or $30 getting the waist taken in.
Still, I do like the wool crepe pants in original fit and bought two pairs, which I wear with super-high heels for work. I have short little legs, so a higher rise makes my legs look less stubby. So, I'm glad we're seeing the higher waists come back. I picked up the high-heel flare jean yesterday and I like it a lot for that reason.
Thanks for the advice hexicon! It was really helpful, because I was looking at the 120s and gab. I also wasn't sure about the crepe material - I couldn't put my finger on it but there was something about it that I didn't like - maybe less structured? I ended up going with the gab (the one on sale, not the new material for this fall - I wonder if the new one is a lot better).
ReplyDeleteWhat's the difference between 120s and gab?
I was able to use this 15% off coupon with my student 15% discount on the red phone today!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 1:45 PM: I have to say- that you do bring up an excellent point to consider.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @1:45, I see your point, but J.Crew has done a lousy job of targeting its "apology codes" to those who were actually affected by the upgrade difficulties (a club of which I am now a member).
ReplyDeleteOn-line customers were those affected by the difficulties with the website upgrade and consequent lengthy waits for CSRs. On-line customers were those affected by the inability to get price matches to store sale prices (or the extreme difficulty of doing so). Yet J.Crew "apologizes" for its mistakes with a 20% off coupon offered in store to *select* customers. Now it appears that J.Crew has sent out a coupon to *select* on-line customers as an "apology."
I suppose there is a risk that code abuse could make it more likely that J.Crew will offer fewer codes or no in the future. J.Crew is in the business of making money and not soothing my ruffled feelings, but making the customer happy is part of retail. So, because J.Crew has done so little for its online customers, that's why I'm not upset that this code is being circulated.
I had a lovely experience in the B&M on Friday but it's not at all convenient for me to go there, so I'm really miffed that J.Crew does not value its on-line customers by giving them benefits similar to those received by B&M customers. I've written J.Crew several times about this but have never received more than a canned response.
Can you use the student discount over the red phone??
ReplyDeleteAnony 1:45,
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with you at all. Sharing codes is not going to keep JCrew from offering them. They have a system in place that does not work...I tried to get emails from them for 3 years and my email address would never take...I don't know why and I called them so many times and signed up online and it never worked. Without sharing I would never get anything.
gigiofca
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on the red phone. I was in my b&m and was going to try it on Friday, but there was a wait and I gave up. I'm working tomorrow (sigh, summer vacation is over) and will visit the quieter b&m near work. I'll let you know if I have a similar red phone experience.
Thanks for the information!
I would like to introduce myself, I'm from Nebraska and I'm a guy.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading this blog for a while and finally decided to post a comment. How I found your site, was through the search on google for coupons for J.Crew.
Then I stumble onto this blog and read all the interesting comments and notes. I learn a lot of things and this blog gave me some ideas on how to make my order easier and cheaper.
Now I'm a student and wasn't aware of any student discount before I read this blog and have been buying from J.Crew since December.
I just recently made an order an hour ago and was unaware of their 20 min cancellation. I saw the 15% off coupon on the site just recently and was not happy to see that I could have save some extra money on the order. Also, because I don't live near any J.Crew store and the closest one is 1 hour away, so returning is a hassle. So I gave them a call.
First lady said they can't do anything. Second lady, was a little easier and I actually ask for the student discount this time, first time I didn't know you could ask it over the phone. So she made a case number and will try to get my 15% in.
I was wondering if the 15% student discount could be applied to this 15% coupon? I did use the free shipping code from this website.
My order was for a nice men's dress shirt and the prem officer's chino.
I've been saving a lot of money from this blog as well as the gift card I win from bidding on ebay. :)
Thanks for the help.
Hi NE-Guy! We love hearing from men on this blog- so please feel welcomed to join the conversation anytime! :)
ReplyDeleteThe 15% coupon states it cannot be combined with any other offer. So I am not sure if you could stack both together over the phone. (Unfortunately, the website doesn't allow for any stacking of codes.)
What I have learned through this blog is that there is some inconsistency with policies or freedom in applying those policies with customers' orders. Therefore, I am not sure if you called back and talked to another customer rep, s/he might honor both promotions. Many Aficionadas on the blog have been able to receive 15% off, student/educator discount, and free shipping. But I think it all depends on the customer rep. :)
I also want to add, that if you do go to a brick and mortar store and see an "additional x% off sale", you should be able to use your student discount on top of that additional sale.
Hope this all helps! :)
