J.Crew Updates Homepage

As Blumre pointed out in the post "J.Crew Stores: 40% Off & New Markdowns," J.Crew updated their hompage and their apology.

What do you think of the new images on the homepage? What do you think of the new apology? Why do you think the changed the aplogy?

  1. I really enjoyed the gold dress and black knee his. That's a beautiful outfit. I suppose they need to change the page regularly but b&w is not as rich as the color shots. The b&w is a bit washed out, I guess is the problem. Also, wouldn't back-to-school be more apropos?

  2. I also enjoyed the homepage with the Gold Dress...I don't enjoy the Wedding page as much (since I'm not planning a wedding) but I can imagine that the future J.Crew brides are loving it. :)I wish the initial apology had remained since the website is still not at 100%...the new one makes it seem as if they are already getting tired of apologizing.

  3. I think the yoga design is a bit boring...the wedding is pretty and I am planning a wedding but I like the lookbook, collection stuff best. Paris video still was #1 in my book. The apology is a bit edgier! It's like, c'mon customers, quit complaining :) So, FFM, I concur with your thoughts!

  4. I thought it was a bit premature to take down the last homepage features. They were only up for a couple of weeks! The Yoga feature is old too. I've been seeing it off and on for a couple of months it seems like.

My take on the apology is optimistic - they changed it because the problems are just about ironed out!!

  5. As long as it's not the Penelope peep toes on that red background, I don't mind what it is! :)

  6. The apology seems weak to me :-/ I loved the wedding homepage (hey a girl can dream right?). I don't really care about the yoga stuff, I dont do yoga so I wouldn't buy their yoga collection anyway. And while the yoga collection could translate easily into gym gear, I personally cant deal with running in anything other than mesh shorts (I know very unfashionable). So it kind of bums me out to see yoga on the homepage. I just don't think of it as who JCrew is. The wedding images relate much better to the company's image and personality.

  8. While I think the wedding shots are pretty, I don't think they relate to the majority of J Crew shoppers. And, I don't wear the yoga clothing, so I could care less about seeing that. I think their regular clothes are beautiful and they should be "pushing" them.

  9. The yoga line isn't working for me. It's not what I think of for J.crew. I have a couple of jackets from Lulelemon; that's yoga wear. I do like the wedding shots, really captures the feeling of J.crew.

And if I have Lululemon jackets, but I'm not a yoga guy does that make me a poser?

  10. blumre: I agree with you about the yoga (except I actually do yoga). I remember when I first saw it on the website and I was thinking, "What!? REALLY?" It just seems like such a disconnect with J.Crew's other offerings even though, as you say, it can also be considered gym-ware. It's almost like it is J.Crew branded activewear, but they tried to upscale it by labeling it as yoga clothes. :)

  11. Why on earth would they be promoting *yoga* wear at the approach of the fall shopping season?

Anyone know when we can expect to see the next batch of new stuff on-line?

  12. I have observed that J Crew usually puts up a new collection and homepage feature on the last Thursday of the preceding month. So September's collection will go up on Aug. 28. That same week, or the week prior, the new monthly collection is in stores (stores get stuff first).

Also, keep checking new arrivals throughout the month - the add stuff all the time.

  13. I love the yoga wear, the jacket is high quality, looks good and it is even more comfortable than J Crew hoodies. It is not just gym wear, it looks good with jeans. The rest of the stuff is gym only wear.

The wedding shots I could not care less about.

  14. They still need to apoligize. I still had problems just like before....since the upgrade/downgrade on my Aug. 2 order. Was supposed to arrive Aug. 4....Aug. 6 it was still not here. Called CS, it hadn't even shipped, and I did get it on the 7th overnighted to me...but one item was missing that was final sale b/c it took them forever to ship it and it had sold out by then. Problem orders still going on......really still very mad. My husband has "forbidden" me from ordering from JCrew anymore. Enough of their "crap":)

  15. I'm glad they apologized. The new website is such a headache. However, if they do specifically mess up your order, they apologize even more (and with a gift card, which always helps). I ordered a pair of pants ($13.99!!) which were out of stock. Instead of telling me about it, they sent my order without the pants and charged me for the pants! I called, they apologized, overnighted a new pair of pants(although that's ridiculous b/c even standard UPS gets to me overnight I live so close to their warehouse)--a more expensive color at the same price, and sent me a $25 gift card. I definitely forgave them for the pants mix-up. I'm still annoyed at non-sale items being in the sale section and the website not saving the items in my cart. But I LOVE the fall line--so they get a little more leeway from me.
oh, and I LOVE that gold dress with the knee socks & shoes, but I don't think I could pull that look off--and I have no where to wear something like that either.
