J.Crew's Chino Sale: Save $10

A big "thanks!" to Namtaro, who let us know about J.Crew's latest email promotion offering customers $10 off on select men's and women's chinos at J.Crew's regular stores and online. The links on the email are as follows: Men's | Women's

I am really grateful to Namtaro and all the members of this blog that have shared their J.Crew emails & promotions. :) Although I have two email accounts with J.Crew (personal & school), I apparently do not get all the emails (even though I would like to!)- so I really appreciate it when we all share. ;)

Do you think you will take advantage of this latest promotion? Are you like me, a bit bummed out that you didn't get this email?

  2. Bkp- I know what you mean! I use to think I got most of J.Crew emails before I started this blog- but clearly I did not. ;)

So I am really grateful that we all have been sharing with each other.

Again, thanks to Namtaro for this email promo!!! :)

  3. I didn't get either of the last 2 emails. I had been getting them (late in the day) so I wonder why I didn't get these.

Btw, I love their favorite fit chinos in short length. Perfect length for someone who's not quite petite. :)

  4. Great to know and I know MMiller needs chinos!!

But the links didn't work :( It just took me to the J.Crew website :(

Math Teacher... I actually wish they would do the same thing for women as they do for men, the difference btwn the Tall and the Regular is 4 inches... Why cant they make a 34" inseam? :(

See I always knew they staggered the emails and not everyone got everything. My former roommate and I were both Jcrew obsessed! So the UPS dude knew us really well! She used to get e-mails that I didnt get and get them before me. And I occasionally got e-mails that she didnt get. It annoyed us a lot.

  5. I'm actually interested in the male harbor grey classic chino (83687). I actually haven't seen that color in person, but would y'all recommend it to go with pretty much all color polos/tees?

  6. I get lots of other e-mails (like "ooh, look at these new shoes that aren't actually new"). But I didn't get this, or the 20% off with personal shopper, or the 30% off final sale. WTF?

  7. I think I would be more excited about the favorite fit chinos if the legs weren't so BIG! A year ago, their favorite fit chinos fit me great. Now, the same size, super baggy legs. It's like they went from slim-cut legs to super-duper-relaxed cut. And when you add in the fact that I'm short ... it just makes me look incredibly bottom heavy. :( Sad, because I'm loving this year's buttercup and would love them in pants.

Does anyone know if the city fit ellies are cut slimmer in the legs?

  8. Melanie the city fit ellies are still available- and they are bootcut. Think madison chinos without the stretch. I LOVE THEM! I just bought three pairs this week :)

  9. I get them three days after everyone else:( I never got the personal shopper one.

  10. sam: it's a nice gray - I have trouble pairing gray pants with anything other than white or navy. I think it looks best with white.

  11. I got the ps one but not this, now I feel cast aside, but seriously, 10 bucks off chinos? that's really not a huge excitement considering they go on sale eventually....

  12. Haha yea CAW and they are always on sale for 20 bucks!!! Good call on that.

Weab: Seriously, bad Jcrew day... echo you on that one-- but I would like to add WEEK to that statement!

    BLAH

  13. jcrewbug: thanks! maybe I'll hold off on the purchase until I can see it in stores and make a final decision there.

  14. sam: I won't claim any sort of fashion sense but I own two pairs of gray chinos and I've tried tons of colors. White is my first pick, then it's a toss between navy and light pink. I almost bought a third pair of gray chinos during the sale and stopped myself for this reason. Others may have better ideas. Now a darker gray or a wool gray may lend itself to more colors - perhaps yellow or purple. But from the pic on the web this seems like a light gray. Now these aren't final sale (right?) so if you are worried about it you can order and return it - esp if you live near a store.

  15. I got this email but not the one about the extra30...I would have rather gotten that one. This one isn't really a coupon...the price that the chinos are marked at is with the extra $10 off already, so no code is needed to get the price.

  16. They've been $10 off in the store for a while, too.

  17. I never get the emails either! I spend loads, mostly on sales and discounts, and I'm so grateful to everyone for sharing the emails!

  18. Sam: I have a pair in harbor grey and wear them with navy and white, but they look great with chocolate brown. I also wear them with burgundy or black. I say go for it.

I've spent so much at J.Crew lately it's good to encourage someone else.

Let me know what you decide.

  19. j crew guy: Thanks for the color suggestions. Never thought of tryin brown - i might have to give that a go!! thanks!

  20. Chocolate brown is great with bankers grey (see the men's Italian flannel pants). It also looks good with powder blue.

My clothing is pretty tame colour wise, I tend to use the basics; navy, charcoal, blues and browns with a little burgundy and green. Okay not all at once mind you.

The best place for me to get ideas about colour matching is frm a magazine or movie. Guess I'm a visual learner.

  21. Sam: check out this website they have a whole section on grey pants and what to wear with them.

  22. My biggest obstacle in the AM seems to be shoes when I wear brown. I have this uncontrollable urge to have the exact same hue of brown shoes to match my brown clothing :) What do you do? I've found a nuetral tan works sometimes but not all the time and I'm wondering what to do in the winter when tan suede is out of the pic due to inclement weather.

  23. Jcrewbug: black is now OK with brown--- even stacey london says so. You can't go with too dark a brown pant but black shoes are fine! Also I go with a bright colored shoe, like a hot pink, bright blue, green. Etc

    ReplyDelete
  24. jcrewbuy: I wear either black or brown with brown pants. If the pants are lighter go with a mid to dark brown shoe, if the pants are dark dark brown or black.

The guys in Italy totally have it, they wear rich darker brown shoes with everything and look great. You see far fewer black shoes on guys there.

That being said I really like black shoes with chinos.

  25. Looks like blunre and I share common taste. You know the expression "great minds think alike, fools seldom differ."

  26. blumre and jcrewguyincanada: Thanks! Apparently I need to get with the times :) You guys can nominate me for the show!

I did purchase some green and black yorks just in the last few weeks off ebay so looks like I'm set!

  27. Jcrewbug, you post here! That means you do not qualify for that show... hate to break it to you! You have a pretty good sense of fashion... I read your comments and a lot of times I think the exact same way. We all have fashion dilemmas... we are here to help each other out!

  28. Thanks blumre: I honestly have to say that J Crew makes it easier on me to get dressed in the morning. Their clothes are so complementary to each other - the hues, fits, etc. They all hang on me well and they are comfortable. It's nice.

Then I am lucky enough to have the help of this blog (which I earlier said it was like having my college roommates back who used to help me with wardrobe dilemmas)and polyvore! Love seeing our group's sets.

  29. jcrewguy, et al: thanks a bunch for the comments. I'll try and find a way to wander to a JCrew tomorrow and see if there's anything of the same color in a different fit. I'm assuming it's final sale online, since the price is $20. Hopefully I'll stumble upon another Navy shirt or polo to help persuade me on these chinos.

    Cheers.

  30. I never get e-mails either, despite having been a customer since college (late '90s) both in the store and online. I have the address white-listed in my e-mail program and everything. I always wonder what this means--has the company decided that urban professional women in their late 20s/early 30s are not an important demographic to target?

  31. Has anyone seen the Buttercup color women's chinos IRL?

Are they like Honey Glaze? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  32. anon @10:55: In my opinion the Chinos in Buttercup are a tad more *yellow* than the Honey Glaze.

  33. ffm-thank you re Buttercup Chinos!
