Love It or Leave It: Piqué Andrea jacket

Piqué Andrea jacket
Item 95680
Regular $230.00

Many of you Aficionadas have mentioned this jacket. I have not seen it in person yet, but it looks quite lovely online. I also think the bright rhubarb & honey glaze are beautiful colors that will transition from summer to fall quite nicely. (Although considering the jacket is wool, I doubt anyone would be wearing it during the end of summer. ;) )

What do you think of the Piqué Andrea jacket? Would you buy it? Do you own it? If you do own it, please let us know (1) what is your review of the jacket and (2) how would you wear the jacket. {"Thanks!" in advance for sharing!)

  1. I tried this on in the honey glaze, and I really wanted to love it, but it was just fine on me. The smaller pockets on top and bigger pockets on the bottom seemed to emphasize my middle and hips too much for me to justify it for the price. If it were to go on sale, A LOT, maybe I would consider it. It is a beautiful, high quality jacket in a wonderfully classic style. I wish I loved it.

  2. I agree w/Michelle. Beautiful, classic style & definitely high quality. It's not for me, thankfully, as I have given J Crew a lot of dollars lately.

In other news, I was at a b&m (again!) and I asked about the change in sale policy. Remember...the pure gossip I posted yesterday. Well, the SA was so nice and said he didn't know of any major changes to the sales. I mentioned the twice-yearly possibiity and he said no, it didn't sound familiar. We asked another SA who said markdowns were going to be business as usual as far as he knew. One thing, though, is that some stores just don't carry sale -- one reason being due to retail space. Carmel is one of those locations. Some of the stores ship there sale to other locations. At any rate, the SA seemed to believe that there are always new shipments, therefore, new markdowns. Yay! I asked if the promo items stay marked down and he said no, not nesc. So the featherweight merino v-neck sweaters that are $59.50, down from $69.50 could go back to regular price before getting marked down. I didn't get too involved w/online questions. It's clear that the online contingent is operating in its own universe and almost separate from b&m if you ask me. Well, they run parallel, but b&m folk don't really seem to know what's going on online. They should put *that* on the quiz. I look online at almost every shop before I drive to one, as many people do these days. Inevitably guests are going to have questions about what they saw on the Web.
I went in for 1 sweater and ended up purchasing 3 sweaters, a tote and a clearance tank. Good, attentive service really makes a difference. Oh...and the great music. :-)

  4. Too much going on with all those pockets and buttons...It's a leave it for me...

  5. gigi: awesome! what are you getting?? Nothing is really striking me except maybe another jackie

    ReplyDelete
  6. As for the Andrea, I like the style but neither color would work for me. Also, I prefer less bulk, so I'm not sure about all of the pockets. I will try when I'm at the B&M on Friday.

Gigiofca, it really does sound like web/catalog doesn't know what B&M is doing, and vice versa. Why is J.Crew *surprised* when we expect consistency? Ultimately, they're *one* company.

    Which leads me to . . .
I have figured out what's going on here. I was never one of those drama queens who always had the on-again, off-again, masochistic, dysfunctional relationship with a bad boyfriend. (I was always the stable friend who helped pick up the pieces.)

So, it took me a while to recognize that J.Crew = bad boyfriend. He ignores my phone calls and e-mails, he lavishes his attention on other women (e-mails them but never me even though he has my address), he's wildly inconsistent with all kinds of strange "rules," he makes me spend money on him that I know I shouldn't . . . but I'm so attracted to him that I keep going back for more punishment. I would totally dump him, but he's so . . . hot. :-)

Now that I've had this epiphany, maybe I can get on with my life.

  7. jcrewbug - Hope your finger is feeling better! Ouch.

I just got a pair of wide leg gabardine trousers. So I need to get them in another color or two. As a sucker for ruffles I need a pique henley, a couple tees and a couple sweaters. I am doing a big wardrobe sale on eBay and replacing a lot of things w/J Crew item. So I need basics.

  8. I ran out and bought it as SOON as it hit the floors. Recently, I started thinking it's a return for the very reason michelle mentioned: a little too much volume in the waist area. That being said, it's still a beautiful, high quality jacket.

hexicon: LOL! great analogy! That's EXACTLY what it is. I really need to dump him too but he sometimes nods in my direction just the right way and I'm putty all over again! :)

  9. This blog is expensive. I just emailed my personal shopper to get me the Italian chino suit pant in navy with a 1.5 inch cuff @ $79.99 it's regularly $118. Thought it would look sharp cuffed. I also got stripped blue shirt @ 29.99 which is normally $64.50. And just for the hell of it I threw in a braided leather bracelet for $9.99 down from $15.99.

None of this would have been ordered tonight except that I saw the post jcrewbug posted about extra30.

Man I'll most likely get up early and order more in the morning.

Thanks ladies and give me some feedback on my order.

  10. I tried to place a phone order for items like the clementina jacket, Ruffle-collar piqué henley, rope necklace, and the CS told me that she can't match the 40% extra in the stores because those items are not final sale items...Doesn't really make sense to me...Has this happened to other people? Just wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  11. jcrewguy: That sounds like a great looking outfit right there! I really love the idea of the leather bracelet too!

    ReplyDelete
  12. OT, before I saw the note about the extra30 code, I called (chose option 2 as FFM suggested) and asked if they would honor the extra 40% off from the stores. The CSR said "absolutely" right away. I asked about also getting the student discount and she said she couldn't layer the discounts, and she said she tried to put in my shipping codes but they weren't taking. I'm pretty happy though--I got the martine cashmere cardigan, the rosette tissue top, chino shorts, and the city fit buttery twill rolled-hem chinos all for $138.67 w/ shipping.

So lesson, I guess, if you want to get 40% off instead of the 30%, just call the 1-800 # and choose option 2 instead of 1.

    ReplyDelete
  13. ny0311: Here's what I wrote about my experience:

It's just so hard - I come here and I read about discounts that everyone is getting, and when I call, and zilch! Nothing. No one would budge to give the 40% and 15% teacher's discount. After really unpleasant encounters tonight with three CS reps, I'm calling it quits with J.Crew. One implied I lied to get the discounts, and another basically cancelled my order (with 40% plus 15% & free shipping) OUT OF SPITE when I told her I would file a complaint about her with J.Crew. The third rep won't reinstate my cancelled order by saying she's trained not to combine discounts.

Why should shopping be this hard?

I've been on the phone for 2 hours, and I got so furious I almost popped an artery, I really I can't do this anymore. I know I'm cheap, wanting discounts - but it's human nature to want what others get.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Vivian, that really sucks. I was loath to even try calling b/c I didn't want to have to haggle for the discounts, but figured I would try what FFM suggested. I still didn't get the student discount and free shipping like some people got in addition to the 40%, but at least I got some accommodation. Seriously, they need to get their act together.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Cass: Thanks. It's nice to hear a sane voice!

To be given a lecture about J.Crew's bottom line and how they appreciate their teachers, AND YET they have a duty to their shareholders as a profit-making enterprise --- that is just the ultimate. Inconsistency is their main problem, and yet this third CS rep insists that every J.Crew rep knows about the policy not to stack discounts.

In her own words: "To get a 55% discount off significantly-marked down items of J. Crew's quality is unrealistic." And the next line: "We appreciate our teachers but we as a company cannot accommodate such expectations. It would be unfair to our other customers." Can you beat that?

I'm not shopping any more final sale - just not worth the haggling and what it does to my blood pressure. In fact, I'm going to lay off J.Crew unless I find something I can't live without. Which means I should visit this blog!!!

Sorry to vent this much. Tonight's encounter just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sorry, I mean: "I should NOT visit this blog." Freudian slip :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. hexicon: I so enjoyed your epiphany. Thanks! Just what I need after that blow-up tonight!

This is one bad boyfriend I need to ditch...

    ReplyDelete
  18. vivian - The Freudian slip was funny.

hexicon - You summed it up. Beautiful analogy. Now that I've had a taste of good fit, I keep going back for more.

All -- I think there is a huge difference between AM reps and PM reps on the phones. The AM reps sounds calm, bright, cheery and all too happy to help. The PM shift leaves much to be desired. I also tried the #2 option and went through 3 reps who just didn't care. My ploy was to ask a dumb question about specific item and see how the service was at the beg. None were floating my boat so I called back and pressed #1. I stuck with that guy. He was trying his best, but I could tell he was tired and he was a little short. I just tried to be really nice, which is really sick because I'm the customer. I told him I appreciated the service blah, blah and he warmed up a little. He really wanted to fight me on EXTRA30. He said that's a glitch in the system, but he'd give it to me. Begrudgingly. Ummm...I totally see EXTRA30 on my computer. That is a change from what I saw just hours ago. So I asked him if I needed to order online. Maybe it's online orders only, so the phone people don't know about the extra30, which makes *no* sense. But the thing they are consistent with is inconsistency.

I was able to apply SHOP -- "ONLY if you know the code" -- I burst out laughing because I felt like I was outside the VIP area of a club behind the velvet rope. Anywho -- I am happy with the items I got. Although it would be SO much more fun if the CS reps were having fun on the phones. I guess that's what personal shoppers are for.

    ReplyDelete
  19. jcrew guy in Canada - The navy suit sounds really nice. I love cuffs. I assume you mean the pants. Striped shirt -- great basic & I would have thrown in the bracelet, too. Which reminds me I didn't check accessories before I finished my order. My guy was no fun.

How does that work w/your PS? You email and then they place your order? Are you ever concerned that items will be gone before s/he gets the email?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I agree the P.M. reps are from a different planet - or based on my encounter tonight -- straight from hell!!

The rep didn't even know that the flamenco dot cardigan was $69.99 and on sale. She insisted it's $100 and had to put me on hold for 10 minutes to check. Came back and begrudgingly conceded it was $69.99 after all.

    ReplyDelete
  21. gigofcca: I wonder if the Valleyfair (Santa Clara, CA) location is like the Carmel one. I hope it's true that they'll still continue to have sales. :)

I went to the Valleyfair store today (I normally go to the Palo Alto, CA one) and there was nothing on sale. In fact, though a sales associate on the phone readily mentioned the Fiona herringbone being on sale for $158, there was no indication of it AT ALL on the store floor and almost nothing was on sale. After wandering the store and realizing it was smaller than the Palo Alto one and with smaller selection and almost no sale section, I realized I'm pretty lucky that the PA one is way more convenient. :) The sales associates are also nicer in PA!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh, so now the 30% is ANOTHER glitch in the system?

Funny, my CSR wouldn't let me use SHOP even though I knew the code.

Oh well, I guess there is no diff between options 1 & 2 on the phone!

Vivian, I had my own blood pressure raising CSR experience of my own over the weekend. This was not j.crew but another online vendor. i had ordered something using 2 coupon codes, and the order went through at the time with both discounts. I got an order conf email reflecting that. Then 3 days later I get a shipping e-mail reflecting the price without either of the discounts. They charged this full amount to my card. When I called CS, they said, sorry, those discounts were not supposed to apply to your order. I basically said that was THEIR mistake and their problem, that was not the price i agreed to pay, and told them they could be reported to the state attorney general for deceptive business practices. Anyway, not a pleasant experience.

    ReplyDelete
  23. cass: That's terrible! They have to honor the two codes. You're right - it's illegal and totally deceptive to retract discounts after payment has been made. I guess you won't name the vendor but I think all these "inconsistencies" really put a dent on the online shopping experience. Did they finally refund the two discounts?

    ReplyDelete
  24. hexicon: I literally burst out laughing when I read your comment! It's such an apt analogy!

J.Crew guy in Canada: I wish my fiancee was more like you. ^_^ He is happiest in a pair of khaki shorts and one of the many, many free shirts he's acquired over the years. Wish I could get him to look as sharp as you!

Vivian: My jaw dropped at your description of your interaction with CS rep #3! I couldn't believe that they would say something like that! :( It sucks, one bad CS rep can really ruin what has otherwise been months or years of positive experiences.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Melanie: Thanks - it was a nightmare. I just couldn't believe my ears. The things that were said to me tonight - just crazy.

I was still trying to be polite. On hindsight if I had yelled and screamed, maybe I've gotten some respect.

Maybe I'm a doormat to let a CS rep sneer: "It's a hundred bucks. How can it (the flamenco dot cardigan) get marked down to $35.70?" I explained the math (40% + 15%) and yet she just refused to budge.

This $35.70 was the price given to me by an earlier rep. The order was later cancelled without my approval by another rep, and when I tried to reinstate it, the subsequent reps refused to honor the price. It's such a surreal experience. It's just one $69.99 cardigan - not like I was trying to order $1,000 worth of merchandise using those two discounts.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sigh, no more J.Crew. This bad boyfriend has to go. I have to see other people, and not let this one walk all over me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Vivian: I don't understand how could one rep place the order, and then another one just go in and completely cancel it. Why would someone even do something like that!?

I can definitely understand you not wanting to shop J.Crew after that - it sounds like a nightmare! :( I hope you don't leave this blog, though, I like reading your comments.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Vivian: I can't believe you had to go through this horrible experience with three different reps! The rep I got on the phone was one that sounded like she didn't care. You know, those who would put obstacles and excuses not to give you what you ask for. To be honest, I struggled all day today whether I should call to place my order and try my luck at getting the discounts. I agree with you that shopping shouldn't be this stressful. Then when this rep said the items I wanted were not "final" sale items, and thus was not able apply the 40% extra, I didn't even want to bother arguing with her. Jcrew can keep all that inventory...I don't care anymore!

Cass: You're so lucky you got the 40% off!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Vivian - I totally feel for you. The PM reps seem to be from hell. I was going to add that it's probably a 2nd job for them or they have school in the daytime. No fun for us since they are just punching the clock. It really takes away from the J Crew experience that the b&m SAs have told me we're supposed to be having.

Melanie - I haven't been to Palo Alto or Valley Fair. You might try Pleasanton if you are ever up that way. They have more sq footage. It's a nice, airy place to shop with all the space and the SA are simply fabulous.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Melanie: Long story. When I was placing the order, I had 2 more items but my baby woke up from her sleep and I had to run to settle her down. The rep said no problem, got take care of the baby and come back within 20 minutes to add the two items with the same 40% + 15% and free shipping.

When I called back in 5 mins, the second rep looked at the order, and said I can't add the two new items because the order has gone too far in the system. So I said OK, I can pay shipping and start a new order. She then turned all snooty and said the prices I got were "not right." And she said she cannot give me two discounts. When I tried to explain, she cut me off and raised her voice: "I can't help you. I just can't help you." So I told it's unprofessional to talk that way to a customer and I'd like her name, she got angry. Next thing I know, when I called up my order again, it has been cancelled.

The next rep wasn't helpful either, but at least she could tell me who cancelled that order. No prize for guessing - the second rep.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, I forgot to mention that when I placed my tulip jacket (full price $148) before their upgrade, Jcrew made a mistake and shipped my package to the wrong adress. After spending hours and hours on the phone with them, they agreed to honor me the store price of 49.99 + 25% + educator's discount. I get my credit card statement the other day, and see no credit whatsoever. I call in and guess what? The CS tried to retract the 49.99 + extra discounts, even though all the details were noted on my order. Can you believe it? I told her that was not fair and if she had to do it that way, I'd rather return the item and get my $148 back. After like an hour, I got the full credit. This whole experience makes me feel like I'm shopping at Wal-Mart or something.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Vivian -- I forgot to say...you should call back and immediately ask to speak to a mgr. Or call in the morning when the nice people are working. ;-) My CS rep *did* vent a little about the way he's been treated through the website fiasco. Lots of people screaming and yelling. Esp those that ordered last minute and expecting an item to arrive for a special occasion. They probably need a big employee appreciation week at the call center. Also -- things would run a lot smoother and morale better if they were given consistent information. It's totally wild how inconsistent the reps are and that stems from the top, imo. It makes me wonder if they are given a ceiling of what they can/cannot do.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Isn't it ironic (find a better word here) that the order has gone too far in the system to be changed, and yet it could be cancelled??? Without my approval? Next thing they'd be selling my credit card info to criminals.

gigiofca, nyc0311, melanie, cass: Thanks for listening. I can't go vent to DH about this. It's such a relief to be able to talk to you and feel vindicated - that I'm not some crazy lady! I was so angry that tears just popped out of my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  34. gigiofca: I repeatedly asked for a manager but they would put me on hold, and come back with the same story without letting me speak to any manager! I asked for the first rep (Winnie) and they didn't let me speak to her either.

  36. Whoa. I read my last post and it's really stupid. I gotta get a hold of myself. No point getting worked up over this. Sorry, guys.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Vivian: What a perfect description..."I was so angry that tears just popped out of my eyes!" Your experience tonight is the reason why I'd rather Jcrew standardize their policy, even if they end up deciding that customers will no longer be able to stack coupons or that educator's discounts will only be good for full-priced items. I don't know, I really feel that it's not fair otherwise. It's just not right that some people get to benefit from it while others not. Maybe I'm a bit cynical, but that's just what I think. I want to know that if I am placing an order, I'm not missing out on anything only because I didn't try hard enough. (After all, how hard should a customer fight, right? Shopping should be a pleasant experience!)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Vivian, you have every right to be upset. I cannot believe they treated you that way. Even if the first rep shouldn't have given you the discount (and we all know that different reps have been told different things), cancelling the order like that doesn't make much business sense to me since they have lost out on future income from you. Unless of course, J Crew no longer wants the discount shopper. I imagine though that most shoppers are a combination of full price and bargain shoppers. I'd say 90% of my wardrobe comes from J Crew and a lot of it was purchased on sale.

I am hoping that you just had a lot of bad luck tonght and a manager tomorrow can make it right for you.

    ReplyDelete
  39. nyc0311: When I told her the need to standardize discount policy, her response is just out of whack: some reps stack discounts because they are bending backwards to be nice to customers, and usually it's a one-time courtesy. So that makes it OK.

I told her I don't mind paying full price if everybody is doing the same, but I mind if other shoppers get discounts and I don't. She just didn't understand what I was trying to say.

    ReplyDelete
  40. liana: Thanks! I feel better after talking about my experience.

She cancelled the order out of spite because I asked for her name, to file a complaint about her attitude. I doubt the concept of business sense occurred to her at all. She's probably just a partimer, with a day job/going to school - as pointed out by gigiofca.

    ReplyDelete
  41. ny0311: Your tulip jacket - how could they retract discounts this way??? That would be my reaction prior to tonight's nightmare. Now I know they could, and they will. I'm glad you got your credit back though - but why must it be this hard?

    ReplyDelete
  42. OT: Do the Jackie Cardigans run true to size or a little small. I tried one on (in my typical size today in the store and it felt a little snug. but now that we get an extra 30% off I'm thinking or placing an order...just not sure if the previous cardigan I tried on was a fluke or if I should order up.

Also, I talked to a rep tonight and she credited the 30% off of two orders I placed earlier this week. Her Name Is Deborah. Vivian if you have it in you, press 2 and ask for her. She was very nice.

Deborah also said the Final Sale was not perm. and once they cleaned out their inventory the regular sale would be back.

Sorry for the long post. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. OK, enough drama for one night. Goodnight, and thanks much for listening.

    ReplyDelete
  44. janell: Thanks! I'll try Deborah if I can muster up courage to call CS again.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Vivian: I know, I thought that was very unprofessional. She wasn't rude or anything, but basically implied that I was already getting too many discounts and credits, kind of a "why are you asking for more" attitude...

    ReplyDelete
  46. You'd think the discounts were coming out of the Reps. own pockets the way they act. I have been fortunate, so far, to be able to get the 40% and FS on a couple of orders since Sunday. I opened a JCrew CC acct. although that probably didn't make a difference. I worked at a Victoria's Secret call center a few years ago as a Customer Service Rep. and I know the Sales Reps. were compensated for each new acct. they opened.

I have changed my name from Jacqueline and now I'm BLUE!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Vivian: That makes me so upset to hear how that second rep treated you! It was such a petty, vindictive thing to do and what you described (her saying those prices were wrong) - well, obviously another rep put it in there and you weren't doing some weird magic craziness to get them. I don't know why she sounded so horrified that you got those prices - like you were personally ripping her off or something!

I hope you have better luck in the future!

    ReplyDelete
  48. vivian -- I'm sorry to hear you couldn't get a mgr. I definitely get the rep's name before I even get started in case there is an issue. I think it makes them sit up straight, even if only for a moment. I don't think you sounded ridiculous or stupid at all. I got a little emotional when I was complaining in-store yesterday about my short shipped cardigan. Is shopping the most important thing on earth? Of course not, but I love so many aspects of retail; not just the pursuit of acquiring 'things.' And having worked at big corporations, I know how things are supposed to work. We really need to be able to trust our merchants, esp for online orders since we're giving out sensitive information. None of the reps should act flippant about our cards being charged incorrectly. All of the billing and shipping madness that has gone on has been really, really frustrating. I empathize and my issues were tiny compared to others.

    jcrewlover is blue -- yay!

  49. This has nothing to do with this topic, but I was wondering if you knew if the crewcuts run big or small, thanks

  50. I just spoke to a great CS (Andre)this am, he worked very hard to resolve my issues with my order that has been delayed for over a week. Andre thank-you!!

It is really the luck of the draw who you get when you call in, I find the CS during the day more knowledgable than in the pm.

  51. I have the Andrea Jacket in Honey Glaze and really love it...it is so just so *chic* looking. I don't have a problem with the pockets at all, probably since I do not have a large bust or waist, and I actually think they are really pretty where they are placed (very Chanel-like). The jacket is mid-weight, and will work here in Florida this Fall and Winter, as well. I have made several Polyvore sets for it: Click Here , Here , and Here . I will also be wearing it with a white tank or silky jersey top with my dark denim trouser jeans...it really does look FABULOUS! :)

  52. Hi FFM

I just read your posting about the polka dot San Telmo, and will be on the lookout for it when I go to work (sigh...sob) on Monday. If I find it there in size 6, under $50, I'll buy it and send it to you. I'll keep you posted.

    ReplyDelete
  53. hexicon: I LOVE your analogy!

vivian: I am so sorry you have had such a horrible experience with the CS reps! I know they have hired a TON of new call center employees lately, so maybe you spoke with a couple of newbies who have no clue how to be accomodating? I have also gotten some unfriendly, non-accomodating reps, but I just tell them I changed my mind, hang up, and then call back hoping to get a nicer one.

FYI: I suggested that you use prompt #2 when you have already placed an order and want to get a price adjustment, and not for just placing an order. Sorry for the confusion! :)

Alot of the stress could be alleviated if J.Crew would simply make the web sale to correspond with the instore sales...then noone would feel the need to call in for price matches. If the store is extra40, then the web should be extra40 with the free ship to boot! It must make the call center even busier the way it is now...probably one reason they threw a bone out with the extra30 code...not the same, but at least a little bit of a savings.

Oh yeh, the deal about the system not stacking codes is true...HOWEVER...there IS a way around it, and most reps seem to know how...at least the one's I have spoken to were able to do it. I think it's extra work for them, and some reps are willing to do it, while others just simply aren't.

  54. jcrew guy in canada: Love your purchases...you have such great style! :)

  55. No problem, FFM. Let me know if one comes into your life sooner!

BTW, I've had the same experience with customer service in trying to obtain the extra 40% discount. Just keep calling until you find a pleasant rep who will give you the discount, because they do exist.

  59. I don't care for the jacket at all. I don't like the honey glaze color...to hard to wear and it reminds me of the gold 70's color I just replaced in my kitchen:) ha ha:)

I wish JCrew would offer more color choices in it's jackets this season. Not liking any of them a whole lot:(

I too have had too many bad JCrew experiences as of late. I also don't like their inconsistences. It seems others get great service and discounts and I don't no matter how nice and engaging I am. Oh well! I bought so much last fall/winter I have plenty to wear. I still love my Bella and find the new velvet jacket so boring in comparison!

I usually spend about $900 a month at JCrew and I am down to about $100 in July and only $17 this month and don't see that amount rising any time soon. I have been burned by their new website too many times in the past few weeks....

I love the bad boyfriend analogy...works for me!:)

  60. Anon at 4:28. My son wears almost all Crewcuts. Thee quality is fantastic. I buy for the next year during final sale of the previous year. He also wears some Janie and Jack and some Talbots Kids (Boo Hoo). To compare those three I think that J Crew is the closest to middle. Talbots a little larger and J&J a little smaller. Hope this helps.

  61. FFM & Math Teacher: I called Jcrew again this morning...They gave me a 30% discount...I am elated!!!!!!!!!
    Anoo (Anon with sweaters)
    Thank you!!!!

Yes the reps that I spoke to yesterday evening, wouldn't budge...I think the morning ones are sweet :)
Everyone else who was not able to get 40% off on purchases made yesterday, please call back..you can atleast get 30%

  62. vivian: What you need to do is send, via email, the entire documentation of the conversation/situation just as you told it to us. Send it to contactus@jcrew.com and in the subject area put GRACIE. She is THE BEST and has helped me out on numerous occasions. She is super friendly and very knowledgable. I love her. I don't do phone calls, they make me uncomfortable, but anytime that I have a problem I just fire off an email to Gracie and she helps me out. GOOD LUCK!! :)

  64. It seems that EXTRA30 is legit, I just got an email announcing the sale. Online & in-stores.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Do any of the women bloggers buy men's shirts for themselves?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yay for EXTRA30!! I snagged a flowy jersey bateau dress, a egyptian cotton v-neck cardigan, a flamenco dot beaded cardigan, and the Tuesday trench ... I feel horribly guilty for it, but I got nearly $100 off so it's totally worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. HEXICON: You Epiphany is BRILLIANT! And you made me hysterically laugh!!! THANK YOU

  68. I might be the lone dissenter on the standardization issue. I understand why it would be easier for everyone if J Crew standardized their sales procedures. However, I think most of us stand to lose pretty big if they do. Even though you have to work to get the extra discounts and it doesn't always happen, it is better than never, which is probably the way they will go if they do tighten up. Already, they have changed the extra percents off to codes which is new. You used to just see the extension in your shopping cart. I think standardization will work against the majority of us. Also, when I hear of the great deals that math teacher and FFM and others get, it just makes me work harder for next time. Plus, as they are teachers, it makes me feel great that their pay gap can be made up somewhere else. Face it, they are paid horribly for the most important job in America. Boy, this vered way OT. Sorry!

  69. thanks jcrewbug for the heads up on the sale.
stocked up for the whole family!

  70. to annon, crewcuts run big/true to size at least on the boys side.

  71. Has anyone seen or tried the Galassia jacket (90817)? It looks so cute and I am tempted with the 30% off. I know it's not practical with the 3/4 sleeves, but it sure looks fun!

    ReplyDelete
  72. TammyLee - I own the Galassia Jacket and love it. Does not look good on the hangar, but is a knockout on. I am going to use it as a topper for nights out. It is very bright and shiny

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anoo: So glad you got the discount...30% is better than nothing, too! :) Congratulations!

    ReplyDelete
  74. jenn_brak: How heavy is the jacket - what kind of weather is it appropriate for? And, would you say sizing is about the same as other jackets?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Are all the Jackie cardigans gone? I went to order a few more and the only ones showing are FP. What the heck???

Also, I own the Andrea and it is beautiful. I am going to pair it with the rhubarb colored Jackie shell since I don't have the wild berry color (as suggested by FFM). I originally got the Andrea in a regular size 0, but didn't like the way the sleeves fit (too long for bracelet length, but too short to be considered full length) so I reordered in a 2P and it is perfect! Once they go on sale I plan on getting the Persimmon color as well!

    ReplyDelete
  76. vivian: I think you should definitely contact someone about your experience, perhaps even email Mr.Drexler himself...I'm sure he would be extremely upset to hear that you were treated so horribly by one of his CS reps! I'm sure it's something he definitely does NOT condone...I really think he deserves to know, and you deserve an apology and to be treated more respectfully.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I disagree. I think JCrew needs standard procedures for all practices and not a few exceptions to the rule for a select few. Makes me want to do less and less business with them if I don't receive discounts that others do....

    ReplyDelete
  78. jcrewjunkie: I agree...I will probably also purchase the Rhubarb Andrea when it goes on sale...it would look equally decadent paired with the Silky Jersey in Honey Glaze...now I need to get THAT color, too. That would make 8 total Silky Jerseys for me. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Tammylee - sizing is consistent. It is fully lined in a spring/fall weight. OK for going from a car into a restaurant or club except in really cold weather. Could probably be paired with a cashmere shell for added warmth. I will not tell you how much I paid, but paid it well before now and have no regrets. Already planning date night outfits with hubby around it.

  80. gigiofca: My personal shopper is the one Mickey handed me over to when i emailed him. She is wonderful. I received an email back this morning telling me all three items are in stock and will ship. I trust dealing with her far more than phone in orders and the internet site. She's been the one to straighten out all the screw ups. I even emailed Mickey this week praising her and telling him she's the reason I'm back on board with J.Crew. I know one person isn't a company, but she made a poor situation go away and got me what I wanted.

FFM: thanks so much. I even went with cuffs on the pants, thought what the heck. I haven't had cuffed pants in over ten years.

    ReplyDelete
  81. jenn_brak: Thanks so much...you have me convinced!

  82. FFM: 4 silky jerseys for me. I do own the Honey Glaze (got it on Monday) and it is soooo pretty. I currently own (and expect to purchase more) the weathered stone, honey glaze, poppy, and sea salt. YUM. :)

Just placed another order via website with J Crew. I got over $147.00 off so I am happy with that! I know that this was a long shot, but I did order:

Optical Print jacket. It is unique and I like the look of it, but can't exactly say why...lol.

Pique Ruffle henley: Citrus Lime. FFM got me hooked on these and I now own 3 (black, pink and now the citrus lime one).

Metallic Market tee: I could live in these they are so comfortable and they layer beautifully. I have a navy Jackie that I am going to toss on over this when the weather gets cooler.

Brushstroke Linen Mini: I couldn't believe that they had a 0 as I have been stalking this all summer!

Azalea Elizabeth halter: Not on sale, but had to get it to go with my mini!!

Silk Linen V-Neck sweater: Got this in white to go with my gray/white polka dot shorts (can't remember the name).

Flamingo Dot Egyptian cardigan: Black and White...love it!

Watercolor Paisley cardigan: another sweater that I have been stalking for about a month waiting for it to be further reduced! Yay!

I am also still watching to see if the Jackie cardis show up on sale. The only ones that I see are FP...boo!!

  83. Weab: sorry I missed your comment @ 12:46. I must remind myself to drink coffee first, log on second.

Yeah the leather bracelet should be kinda fun. The options for us guys are pretty limited when it comes to adding some bling.

    ReplyDelete
  84. jcrewjunkie: Are you going through the Final Sale to find the Jackies? They are definitely there...maybe call in to place your order and ask them to tell you which Sale Colors they have left in your size. :) Btw...I'm surprised you size up to a Medium in them...I always buy a Small, and would have thought you to be in an XS or Small. Do you find the Medium to be very generous on you?

    ReplyDelete
  85. ny0311:I have the cashmere clementina jacket. And I placed 2 orders for this jacket in the past few days. Both orders got 40% off. The 1st order was easy, one call and done. But the 2nd one did take me a good effort. This jacket is really pretty--style and colors. You may want to try and call again.
To me Jcrew policy is consistant. However it is not carried out consistantly. I had posted my thoughts in the other thread earlier. I was told by more than one CSR that JCrew always honor store promotion if the promotion can be comfirmed and they have to manually adjust the price. That means they have to calculate each discount and type in reasons for this discount. Someone is willing to do the extra work and someone simply not.
About requiring to talk to a particular person, I had no luck. Once and I was told by the CSR answered my phone that she has no idea who the person I wanted to talk with is. The other time in other occasion the other CSR insisited she would help and there was no need to talk to the person I required. And it turned out 0 help.
By the way, I was told by one CSR that JCrew will do find for you no matter it is full price or sale.

  86. first - vivian, I am so sorry to hear about your experience.

and j.crew guy in canada, can your personal shopper take on another client? i.e., Me? :)

I LOVED the Andrea when I tried it on, and am completely bummed that it has already sold out online in honey glaze in my size. I'm seriously contemplating having a search done for it - I liked it that much. The only thing that is stopping me is the price. I actually think it's a very high quality item, and would be willing to pay full price (which I usually won't), but my spending has been out of control lately!

we'll see how long I hold out on it!

    ReplyDelete
  87. FFM: It is the only cardi that I can do this with as I take XS in all the others. I just don't like the shell peeking out from the bottom, it drives me crazy. I do toss one time in the dryer to give me the perfect fit (cardigan only, not the shell).

I will look again in the sale section, but nothing is showing up for me. What colors of the Jackie do you have? Don't you just love this Fall's Bright Blue?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Gosh, I really thought the troubles would be over by now - I'm sorry for everyone who is having troubles.

I have an OT question - I'd like to change my JC CC webpage password - can't figure out how??

    ReplyDelete
  89. jcrewguy: No worries! I have two boys and think all I can buy them are tops, bottoms and shoes. (not as fun as girls stuff) But my older one (almost 8) has such a knack for accessorizing! :) He comes up with things that I never would have thought of! Maybe I'll pass along some of his suggestions. ;)

  90. Inventory issues: Just b/c it is online and showing in your size does not mean that it is....Just got off the phone with CS and they are still having inventory problems...so don't get your heart set on anything...FYI:(

    ReplyDelete
  91. JCrew is so wasting my time...why spend time filling up my basket only to get the wrong item sent to me....(navy instead of snow) and many items are not even really in inventory!!!!!

  92. Kater, The gal I call my personal shopper is actually a customer service advocate. She fixes problems; and after she got my orders corrected and shipped I asked if I could continue to work with her. She's been wonderful to work with.

She doesn't work in a store and so you might be better off with someone who has access to the items and can tell you all about fit and such.

Not too sure if this helps. Sorry if it doesn't.

Weab: Kids are the ones who really put some good stuff together. I actually think the Crewcuts line has some of the best looks in the catalog. Wish a few of their items came in my size.

  93. good morning! i have a small kelly green lisa dress for sale. bought last week on final sale but too big for me ;(

    paid $29 ($21 + tax&shipping), will sell for $30 shipped.

  94. Still no Jackie cardigans showing up on my sale page only FP. Is anyone else having this problem?

    ReplyDelete
  95. I just go the EXTRA30 email for final sales items in the store and online. Just passing it along. Should be good until Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Good morning everyone :-) And a big hi and (hug) to Alexis. I hope your presentation is going/went well. We miss you. Thanks for posting new topic each day!

marisa - You're right. The EXTRA30 is legit. If you read the fineprint on the website it says it's good online and not on phone orders. I did a mock order and it let me put in extra30 without a problem. When I went to do the SHOP code, it removed the extra30 and applied SHOP for free shipping. Looks like the computer definitely won't let you stack, but a message should pop up when to that effect. WHO are these programmers and WHERE did they come from?

Anonymous @ 8:17a - I haven't purchased any of the men's shirts, but I want to try on a sweater or two. I don't think they make XS, but I'm curious to see if I can make S work for a casual look.

Lauren - I have the flowy jersey bateau dress. Don't feel guilty. You will love your items. :-)

tammylee - EnablR alert. The Galassia jacket looks fun. It would definitely be something different than a black topper, as jenn_brak said.

jcrewjunkie - You have to call in and ask them to search the Jackie cardigans under size. The colors that were available for S and M were sour lemon, bright azul, bright orange and maybe one more.

jcrew guy in Canada - Good info. I'm glad your items are in stock and you're in good hands. Must be a good feeling. I *do* think that a company boils down to one person at times. It only takes one bad experience to turn someone away. I am still trying to be ok w/the fact that not one person in the store ever let me know about the student discount. I never saw the store signage for some reason either. I was recently a student for 4 years and Macy's got all my money. I looked at J Crew all the time (b&m, catalogs & online) but never felt it was a place for me because I didn't feel invited. So yes, it only takes one person to create a customer customer for life and to ensure customer retention.

jcrewjunkie - All this talk about the silky jersey. I'm glad I realized I own one. *lol* I also love the Metallic Market tee. The tees feel so great!

Anonymous @ 9:57a - I agree that JCrew will try to find an item for you full price or sale. At least I saw that happening yesterday. I couldn't believe the SA was offering to find the Amelia tank ($19.99, 93544) for a customer. She didn't even ask him, he just offered.

    ** I wish I could fit crewcuts!!!!! **

    ReplyDelete
  97. I am having trouble ordering this morning on their website. I'm afraid what I want is going to be sold out. :-(

I can't get thru to customer service! waaaaaaaaaa

    ReplyDelete
  98. This may be a stupid question, but does the extra 30 online mean that CS will no honor and match the extra 40 taking places in stores now? Now I feel like I'm paying more for everything.

    ReplyDelete
  99. gigiofca: I ordered the Galassia jacket - can't wait for it to arrive!

    ReplyDelete
  100. anonymous @ 8:17: The men's sweaters and shirts are great. Both are a tailored fit. I wear a 40 jacket and take medium in both sweater/shirt. The merino sweaters and the washed favorite shirts are the two best things J.Crew does for men.

    Hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
  101. gigiofca: THANKS for the help!! Got the two I wanted! :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. anon @11:08: That is just UNBELIEVABLE!!! The Joelle Blouse I have been wanting is listed for $139.99 by this seller...I was only going to pay $11.72 for it from J.Crew. Not to mention that this is obviously where a TON of the Final Sale items went that we weren't ever able to receive. How the HECK did this person manage to get all of their items SHIPPED! This is really frustrating...

    ReplyDelete
  104. I have to say I am so annoyed with myself. I didnt want to bother my PS and I just ordered through the phone once and the internet another time

I ordered two pairs of chinos... In a T4- they shipped me the T10!!! They charged my Visa and not my gift card (I didnt give them permission to charge my gift card!). They also were only shipping me one pair! I was so furious (esp after being short shipped yesterday on flip flops i actually needed because mine died after two years of wear)!

I spoke to a manager and hopefully it is all sorted out but for now I will only order through my PS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. jcrewjunkie: I had the same problem yesterday not being able to see the Jackie cardigans. Today, they are showing up. I would also suggest calling CS. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  106. jcrewjunkie -- yay! Good news on your Jackies.

Yeah, some of the eBay sellers are ridiculous. I can't believe that seller has a Fiona for $296.99. I searched his/her completed listings and don't see many sales for high ticket items. There's a lot of merchandise for sale. VERY interesting indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  107. @Vivian, yikes, I'm sorry you had to go through all that!

I understand the point some have made that standardization is likely to be "down," i.e. in a way that will hurt the customer, but it is sooo frustrating to hear about other people getting goodies that I don't receive. The customer shouldn't have to CSR-shop to get the best deal. Standardization would be good for my blood pressure if nothing else. Why, why, why, are they surprised that web/catalog customers want the same deals as in the stores? It's the *same* company even if the customers are separate marketing targets!

I am considering my PS appointment tomorrow to be "relationship therapy" for me and my bad boyfriend. We need to establish some ground rules for our relationship. If that doesn't work, I am going to have one last thrilling fling (incluidng a couple of suiting dresses if the PS discount applies to Red Phone purchases on web/catalog-only items) and then call it quits with the bad boyfriend for as long as I can. I will probably be getting sentimental around Xmas . . . .

    ReplyDelete
  108. Vivian! I just saw your comment. Oh hun, I feel you pain! I got yelled at when I called in about my botched order. They effed up and they yelled at me! :(

    I am sorry for you.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Jcrewjunkie, FFM, and others who have recently purchased the Jackie: I'm a little afraid to call CS right now, so I was wondering if you could tell me the name of the CSRs that acknowledged the additional 40% off, student/educator's discount, and free shipping. I figured it'd be better to try and directly contact a CSR who has previously acknowledged those discounts than to try and blindly call CS. I'm hoping to purchase a few items including a Jackie over the phone.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Vivian,

The company finally credited me back one of the discounts, not the other. I am sick of arguing about it, but if I get bored one day I might write a letter to their corporate office. It helps to start throwing around some legal terms sometimes. ;)

Btw, the merchant was Newport News. They are owned by Spiegel. I don't normally shop there b/c the stuff is pretty low quality, but I was ordering something very specific that I couldn't find elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  111. aly: I called in the late afternoon EST, and first spoke with Nathan and then the second time I spoke with Thomas. They were both super friendly and very accomodating...plus they knew how to enter the codes to stack the coupons. :) Good Luck! :)

  113. Wow. The Andrea is completely sold out in Honey Glaze, except for size 6, (didn't check petites though). Get 'em while they're hot!

    ReplyDelete
  114. So, right now I am on hold waiting to see why two orders I placed last week haven't shipped. I know that that the Martine cardigan at 40% was a crapshoot to begin with, but the other order is just a lousy full-price new fall t-shirt. Usually I have my orders in hand on the 8th day after placing them and this one hasn't even shipped yet.

And I am totally cracking up at the music--it's "smooth" 80s New Wave like Roxy Music and Heaven 17, the kind of stuff I listened to as a teen. I guess for the kids it's "retro."

    ReplyDelete
  115. So I caved and ordered the Polka Dot San Telmo. They had a size 4 online, and with the 40% in-store match, plus 15% student discount and free shipping, it came to $61. Slightly more than I wanted to spend (I got the black San Telmo for $40), but I figure that if it ever comes (haha) and I am not happy with it, I can sell it pretty easily for that price.

The size 4 popped up last night, and I refrained from ordering it because I wanted to save my money for more fall stuff. But it ate away at me all night and most of this morning, and when I checked the web again it was still there. I didn't want to regret not buying it when I had the chance, so I went for it :)

    ReplyDelete
  116. I like the Andrea jacket a lot. I haven't tried it on. that would be the ultimate test for me. If others are saying it's bulky, that wouldn't work on me as I am naturally bulky LOL I agree very much that it has a Chanel look to it. Speaking of, I hope J Crew does some boucle jackets this winter. I also love the navy one button jacket in the sweater section. May have to snag that one after my credit card recovers from recent trauma. I love navy blue!

  119. I'm so happy, I got the Joelle blouse in regal purple size 8 today! It popped up on the website and the CS rep I spoke to was extremely helpful, I told her that it was an extra 40% off in stores and she said that its currently extra 30% off on web but she will honour the 40% off in stores, and i used the free shipping code (ship-2389) for free shipping! All in, $12 for the blouse! I'm so excited!
Now i hope i'm able to find it in the moss somewhere. Such a good deal!

ITA about the AM reps, although I did have one bad experiance earlier on this week about an item that was shortshipped, the supervisor I spoke to was incredibly snotty and told me that i could only place an order again for another cardigan (this was a full price fall piece) and no guarantee it would arrive. What!?! I called back and spoke to a CS rep that I'd spoken to once before, Erin, extremely helpful, she apologized for the short ship, checked stock and said she didn't know why it cancelled, and she fedexed me the cardigan on the house! I was willing to pay for it but she told me not to worry about it. I thought that was so nice!

    ReplyDelete
  120. jcrewmommy: Thanks for the compliment!

molly: I personally don't find the Andrea to be bulky at all...I like it worn open as well as closed, and it's so fab with jeans. :)

michelle: Congrats on the San Telmo...I hope you get it! :)

  122. I am searching for the Kate dress in a medium in the turquoise color. Anyone have one that they want to sell or swap for?

    ReplyDelete
  123. a: Congrats! I have also been in search of the elusive Joelle, but I need a size 2, and they seem to be non-existent anymore. I was supposed to get 2 of them last month at $12 each and free ship, but they were short shipped...so frustrating!

    ReplyDelete
  124. FFM: I've got my PS shopper on it... We will see what she can do. i know I am a 4 in the slim liberty shirt and I told her to do comparable sizing since I know the joelle runs HUGE (thanks a for that tip). So my PS comes in at 2 we will see what she can do. If she finds an extra one for me (I will ask) and I will send it to you if you want. What size were you looking for?

  127. FFM: I just saw your above comment. I will check for you about a size 2. Since it runs so big, I might also be getting a 2 so I will see whats available

  128. HI ALL!

Am about to place an order and was hoping to get some of your standout advice!

Do you find the Jackie Cardigans runs true to size or a bit smaller?

What about the Featherweight Merino Ruffle Cardigans?

    TIA!!

    ReplyDelete
  129. After quite a chunk of time on hold, I just found out that my Martine purchase was cancelled as the item was sold out. (I thought it was a little suspicious that there was no small on Saturday night but one showed up Sunday morning.)

Oh well, that means more $$ to spend with the PS tomorrow.

And, my Ebay order just arrived--NWT last year's capsleeve gabardine sheath (for $50). That makes three black sheaths in the last month--this one, the super 120s that I had to fight to get marked down to store sale, and an Ebay purchase of NWT sleeveless Jane from 2006.

But I can't have too many suiting dresses! I'm a little ashamed to admit this here among so many mix-and-match wizards and amazing accessorizers, but one of the reasons I love suiting dresses for work is that there are no decisions. I zip the dress up, put on fabulous shoes (and a jacket if the dress is sleeveless), and that's it. No decisions!

This fall I want the super 120s dress in violet and the gab dress in black. I'm thinking about the Fleur shoes in the fuchsia to go with the violet. Wish I'd gotten the Pepper in azalea when they were on sale. I just need to admit that I should buy everything in azalea.

  130. I got my Joelle blouse last week in the regal purple. I am true to size on mine so I don't know what everyone else was saying about it being huge as it wasn't for me.....

I also got the Cashmere Clementine jacket in all 3 colors. I am bummed about the quality and may only keep one of them (orange) to go with the liberty top that is feature with it online. If anyone has it...look at how the pockets are sewn/woven. All 3 of mine look as if they have tiny holes and it would not wear well at all.......really cheap cashmere and make if you ask me. Just wanted to give anyone thinking of ordering this sweater a heads up to maybe pass....b/c all 3 of mine have this tiny holes in different placement on the pockets.....

  131. FFM: I hope I get it too!

Btw all, I made an appointment with my PS at KOP for Aug. 29 and she confirmed that by then they will have NEW MERCHANDISE. *swoon!*

  132. Hi all, the email I got regarding the extra 30% says "online and in stores"...Does it mean they'll be changing the store discounts to 30%instead of 40%? That wouldn't be very nice...

    ReplyDelete
  133. If anybody does see a size 8 Joelle in Moss or Grey Mist, could you please let me know? (as01bc@hotmail.com) - I'm looking for them to wear under suits this fall. (and to be honest, I'm not 100% sure that the Regal Purple one I ordered from the website this morning will ever arrive!)

    ReplyDelete
  134. I just called J. Crew's customer service and the gal told me that their website is still acting up so if anyone besides me had trouble this morning placing an order, you weren't going crazy, it was acting hokey again.

  135. Janell-I size up on the jackie becsuse it has a shrunken cut to it. I get a small in that and an xs in the ruffle becuase the ruffle is fuller in the waist

  136. Off topic, but any coupons for JCrew outlet?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Shannee, IIRC I saw from one of your earlier posts that you are in GH--I am in T-Town and am schlepping up to Bellevue tomorrow. Let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to hear about re store contents I can report back. My e-mail is hexicon at yahoo.com

  138. I just finished placing a big order over the phone. I got the french market tees (metallic and heather grey), cashmere tee in heather peony, quincy top, linen silk beach cardigan, serengeti capri sandals, rope necklace, and rhumba stripe ruffle bikini. While the CSR was very friendly and honored the 40% off that my B&M is offering, she wouldn't let me add my student discount. I didn't bother to ask for the free shipping code. Wish I wasn't such a pushover! I still saved about $160, though. I really didn't need to spend all that money, though!

    ReplyDelete
  139. suelala: I had received a printable coupon via email for the Factory Stores in Florida, but it expired on the 10th...not sure if other states got the same type of email or not.

ashley: Congrats on the purchases...sounds like you ordered some fabulous pieces! I have the Serengeti Capri Sandals...they are adorable. I have the belt, as well. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  140. By the way, Serengeti Heels these ain't, but if you like the look of them and don't want to spend the money, look at these:

    href=http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/39673257/c/142266.html

Besides, it's Zappos, so it's no risk. I don't know what I'd do without Zappos...

  141. My Sweet Papaya Fiona just arrived ... and I LOVE it! I see why everyone was going bonkers over it. I really hope J.Crew brings it back in other colors, and I REALLY wish the herringbone Fiona currently in stores fit like the canvas Fiona. I don't understand why they puffed it out so much :P Still, when it goes on non-secret sale, I will probably cave,

  142. Oops, that link didn't work. Here's a non-hyper link:

The style is Brenda2 by Jessica Simpson. Yes, Jessica Simpson. I never thought I would buy her shoes, but I think I might try these!

  143. ffm: I am pretty sure that I saw the Joelle blouse on Ebay in size 2 for $34.99 + $3.99 shipping. I think that the name of the seller was moonlite_emily (something like that). This is certainly more than you were going to pay, but around 100 bucks cheaper than Shopaholic's Collection...that price is ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  144. aly: I do mine by email because I am uncomfortable calling (i.e. I am a wimp). I always address everything to Gracie because she is so wonderful! Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  145. jcrewjunkie: Thanks for the info about the Joelle Blouse on Ebay...I think I have seen her listing before. You are right...it is alot more than I would have paid had J.Crew not screwed up my orders...I don't think I want to even pay $40 for it...not knowing that I should have gotten it for $12. Thank you again for telling me, though! I am going to save my money to see what the next collection has to offer. :) My manager said my store is getting the new shipment next Thursday...YAY!!!! :) Btw...did you ever call about the Elizabeth Halter?

    ReplyDelete
  146. ashley: I too have the Serengeti Capri sandals and belt, and love them! I was amazed at how they really have the ability to pull an outfit together! Yay!

FFM: I got the Elizabeth halter and it is on its way. I am sooooo excited!! I also got the Honey Glaze Jackie to wear over it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  147. Hexicon-Thanks for the offer, I will email you ;)

    ReplyDelete
  148. jcrewjunkie: The Rhubarb Elizabeth with the Honey Glaze Jackie look FAB with the Serengeti Sandals and belt! :) Let me know what you think of the Elizabeth when you get it...FYI: if it's too big at the armhole, you can easily stitch it to be a bit tighter. I did that with my Navy one that is a Small, as I really need the XS. Let me know if you need to do this when you get it and I can go into further detail. :)

    ReplyDelete
  149. Has anyone seen difference between rhubarb and poppy? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  150. FFM, when you talked to Thomas or Nathan, which store did you ask them to contact to veerify sale price/promotion. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  151. anon @2:02: I referenced the store in Mall at Millenia in Orlando. 407-226-9732. I talked to the Store Director earlier this morning, and she said they still have the 40% off. She did see the email come across about the stores being at 30% now, but as of this morning that had not taken place, and they were still at the 40% off sale.

    ReplyDelete
  152. jcrewmommy: That is unbelievable! I just wonder who in their right mind would purchase it for that much more when they can get it from J.Crew?

    ReplyDelete
  153. mary: I sent you an email to the address you gave me earlier. :)

    ReplyDelete
  154. Quick question, O/T, how long is it taking to get online merchandise? I haven't ordered from jcrew.com since the horrific website update and I place an order yesterday morning and one today. I'm going out of the country in a week and I assumed I would get it by then, but with all the glitches, I'm worried. Thanks, and I love all the helpful info on here!

Btw, do any of you have the super 120s merino wool ruffle cardigan? I got it for a steal, $30 (she gave me the 40%), but maybe "brillant blue" is too bright? It's so hard to tell!

    ReplyDelete
  155. priya - I love my brilliant blue ruffle merino cardigan! It's so pretty, an versatile. It looks great with a white tank and dark denim. I'm sure you will love it - it's not glaringly bright at all.

I also can't get over natedac and his prices on ebay. I really think he's just "taking orders" when he sells stuff. Thus the specify a size command in the description. yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  156. jcrewmommy: I'm sure you're right that he's an employee. he really grosses me out. I don't know how he gets away with it. The only thing that comforts me is that he doesn't have a ton of sales...

    ReplyDelete
  157. priya: I was fortunate to receive my orders within 3-4 business days this last time around...I hope this continues to be the case. Also, I didn't receive email or tracking information, and my orders status still showed as OPEN, even though it had already been delivered by UPS. :) Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete
  158. Trying to imagine how this ebay seller does it.

I think he must work at J Crew. He lists items that are in his store. When someone buys the item on ebay, he purchases it with his employee discount? and ships it off.

Wonder if J Crew monitors how much employees buy - and what they buy.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I just put up a new outfit on polyvore. If you have time would you look and tell me what kind of cardigan you think would look good with it? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  160. Just to follow up on natedac, I had two dubious experiences with this seller (I wouldn't have bought from him/her the second time if I'd remembered what had happened the first time). Both times the seller offered to complete the transaction off of eBay, which is against eBay rules. The second time I made an offer and he tried to haggle me down but I refused--so, he agreed to my price but then tried to jack up the shipping to make up for it. Now that you mention it, based on the circumstances I think it's quite likely that he works at a J.Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Traci: I LOVE your outfit! I personally would wear a Camel Cardigan or the Tartine in Heather Mushroom with it when wearing the Serengeti belt and sandals. You could also wear one of the yellow shades of cardigan, too...just make sure the saturation of the Pink Piper and the Yellow Cardigan are the same. If you were to wear a metallic gold or silver sandal and belt then you could also do a Navy or Kelly Green Cardigan. They may also work with the Serengeti...you would just have to try them on to see for sure. Love your set! I am wearing my Kelly Green Piper with a Navy Jackie Cardi, white Cropped Pants and Silver sandals and accessories...love the look of it...so casual chic! :)

    ReplyDelete
  162. hexicon: that is just so wrong! there are so many nice people on ebay, and natedac is just giving them all a bad name.

I really don't know how he gets away with it, because when I worked in retail awhile ago, they kept track of my size, and while I could buy as much as I wanted for myself in those sizes, I was limited to 6 items that were "gifts" for others, and I got a lesser discount on those!

    ReplyDelete
  163. Priya, even during the glitch with the update I received my items within eight days that was typical for me before the update, but I just found out that an order for a regular price item I placed a week ago hasn't even shipped yet.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Kater, in general I've had really good luck with eBay--as I mentioned earlier in this thread I picked up a couple of great dresses this month. My other eBay-related advice for Aficionadas is beware of sellers who try to sell J.Crew Factory merchandise as J.Crew. Finally, I've learned my lesson on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  165. jcrewmommy: I bet you're right! He probably is a manager or corporate. So bad!

Overall, I've had some great experiences on ebay too - most of which have been for jcrew merch. I just hate to see someone like natedac giving it a sordid quality!

    ReplyDelete
  166. jcrewmommy: that is completely ABSURD!!! That blouse never even cost $140 at full retail price, let alone if purchased in April...give me a break!

    ReplyDelete
  167. FFM, jcrewmommy, and jcrewjunkie: Thanks for the advice about calling the order in. I'll be persistent and see what the results are. I plan on calling after I get home from work.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Do you only get to specify your size on new merchandise? I'm just wondering how (s)he manages to sell old merchandise, too - from jcrewmommy's post, it sounds like older merchandise has actual sizes associated with it. I wonder if (s)he just "hides" the older stuff in the back room of the store, going to pick it up whenever (s)he finally gets a buyer. Seems kind of pointless to have a stockpile of J.Crew stuff at home, just waiting for a buyer! Either way, it all reeks of sneakiness!

    ReplyDelete
  169. I have bought a lot of good J Crew stuff from ebay - but never more than original retail. I just got an ocelot print merino sweater from last winter and the holiday senic sweater from last winter - I paid about original price for both. I'm finally figuring out that "statement" sweaters are my thing, and I won't pass them up in the future!

I did have a disappointing j crew ebay purchase once. A camel-colored sweater with belt. I think it was an outlet item - it's fuzzy and has a blend of yarn I've never seen in teh store (including angora which I hate). Ill-fitting too. Now I don't buy anything unless the season is listed (or if I remember it) and I'm sure it didn't come from an outlet.

    ReplyDelete
  170. janell - Not sure if you ordered yet or not, but I think the Jackie cardis run true to size. Some ladies have mentioned that they size up if they plan to wear a blouse underneath. If you like things to fit exactly, get your normal size. If you want a little room for items underneath, size up.

I got a Featherweight Merino Ruffle Cardigans and returned it. I think I might have kept it if there wasn't confusion about the order. I was dubious about what I was charged so when I had a bad attitude when I looked at it in the mirror. I'll bet the brilliant blue is cute. That's the one I didn't receive. Orange was nice. Bright, but not ridiculously so and really nice. I wasn't inspired to keep it. I ordered 91476 in the royal purple & white. I like the outfit they have on the web. I'm hoping those are really nice. It's still 90 deg here so I can use short sleeves for now.

Hexicon - Boo on your Martine. Sorry to hear that. I agree on the sheath dresses. It's very easy to look chic in them.

    ReplyDelete
  171. to continue the ebay conversation, I posted this in another thread a few days ago, but it seems worth repeating.

There are a lot of ebay sellers that try to pass the outlet stuff off as original j crew goods. Now that the outlet is selling versions of the wool herringbone bella, and the dani peacoat - items everyone still loves - I just want to warn my fellow aficionadas to look carefully at pictures of the tags before purchasing on ebay. If it has three dots under "jcrew" on the green tag, it's from the outlet!e

    ReplyDelete
  172. So I was thinking about it and I've decided not to purchase the Jackie or the Egyptian Cotton V-Neck. I really need to restrain myself from spending anymore money at J Crew for now because there are fall items that I want a lot more. The hard part is I'm attracted to the idea of getting a great deal. I don't really need those cardigans. I could actually much rather use cardigans made of wool or cashmere with longer sleeves. My cc really needs a break after spending so much on J crew the past few months. Thanks again though for everyone's help about calling CS.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Aly I am feeling the same way right now

    ReplyDelete
  174. aly: I think that is a wise decision...I have also been *restraining* myself from multiple purchases, as I want to be able to purchase more Fall items that are going to be coming out.

    ReplyDelete
  175. me too!!! I went "shopping" this morning in my closet and realized how many things I have and I adore (to quote FFM!) It's really hard to pass up a good deal...in a way we are enablers here but abstainers too :)

    ReplyDelete
  176. Ugh, I just bought a papaya canvas fiona from natedac the other day. He had it in a size 2, and I haven't seen any other sellers have it in a size remotely that small. It was $85, which is more expensive than it is on sale at the store, but I justified it since that is still half of what it originally cost.

I posted the other day how he's charging $325 for wool herringbone fionas. He's also selling a set of 3 bubble necklaces (black, papaya, and turquoise) for $550!! What the hell? First of all, you can get black and turquoise online, and why would you want to buy all 3 for more than retail?

Anyhow, I did have 2 good ebay transactions the other week. I bought the Phoebe dress in green plaid and the Printed silk twill shirt dress in black with white polka dots. They are both good quality (i.e., not from factory), and I got good prices for them. I think I will get a lot of use from them come this fall and winter.

    ReplyDelete
  177. I totally agree! I am so put off by them right now that I'm not even in the mood to look at site.

kater: what size andrea are you looking for? I have one that I'm planning on returning but I don't have the receipt since the b&m didn't put it in the package. I would take store credit but right now, I don't want it.

I think I could avoid some mockery from them about another PROBLEM return doing it this way instead. If you're interested, email me at hjamoky@verizon.net.

    ReplyDelete
  178. The funniest part is I can imagine corporate reading the last few posts and thinking "What are they doing? They should be enabling each other and buying more!" I doubt that actually will happen though.

    ReplyDelete
  179. weab: I'm looking for a 10 in the andrea in the honey glaze. is that what you have?

    ReplyDelete
  180. Thanks for all of your input on the Merino Ruffle Cardigan, you earsed all of my buyers remorse! Now I just hope it gets here in time.

I just set up my first personal shopper appointment. It comes at a perfect time since I need to get a suit. Have any of your worked with Diana in the Oakbrook, IL store before?

    ReplyDelete
  181. kater: DARN! I have a 2. Oh well, maybe fighting with them about this return is EXACTLY what I need to cheer me up. :)

    ReplyDelete
  182. I'm right there with you ladies. I keep telling myself: I do not need anymore Jackies, I do not need...
It's so hard when they are at such a great price. I do however, need something to wear underneath all these cardis! I'm praying that the hammered tank I ordered yesterday looks good on me. If it does, I will probably buy all of the colors because every other crew silk top has looked awful on me

    ReplyDelete
  183. Does the Flamenco-dot Egyptian cotton cardigan run true to size? Thanks-

    ReplyDelete
  184. Weab, I feel the same way. disgruntled, annoyed... and basically done. I dont need any more clothing... I mean I always want more and love a good sale... but I should wait for October and see what I need when it gets chilly out.
To stick it to JCrew the Ecole is going back this weekend and I am going to BR Monday night with my best friend (another Jcrew junkie) to buy the Bird's Eye Jacket and then we are going out to dinner.

I am buying a bag from BR and maybe I will still want the jcrew tote in a few weeks... but for right now I feel like I need a buying break.

I am so pissed that I got yelled at today when THEY botched my order. INSANELY rude! I called up as always with a smile on my face and the CRS rep was not nice about it :(

    ReplyDelete
  185. blumre: I hear you! I am so sorry you got yelled at. That is completely UNACCEPTABLE. Honestly, I am so glad you're taking the jacket back! I'm going to take my Andrea back too and this way we'll be "talking with our money" like my husband said. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  186. Weab, your husband is a smart man!

Also of of MMiller's birthday presents are coming from Jpress and Brooks Brothers... NOT J. Crew, thats about $400 worth of merchandise!

Don't worry he wont read this... he is too swamped with work today to even consider looking at anything... for all you lawyers out there you know what it means to be "staying down tonight"

    ReplyDelete
  187. anon: congrats on the 30%. It is better than no extra and you probably got it without any hassle.

So, I've been lusting after the penelope flats (metallic) and noticed that they are discounted $20 online. So, I called my b&m to see if they were on sale there. No, but she was willing to honor the price. Only problem, they close at 6 tonight (no idea why) and I can't get there by 6. So, she honored the sale price, the 20%, plus my teacher discount, and all I have to do is pick them up Saturday morning. :) Now, I hope they're comfortable. For that price, I'm going to wear them around the house for a couple of weeks to check out that aspect. But, I'm happy right now.

    ReplyDelete
  188. WOW thats awesome... its so cool that they are discounted online... That is still way too much for them for my blood though. But I am really happy for you!!!! WTG math teacher!

    ReplyDelete
  189. blumre: It's really way too much for me, too. I've never paid this much for shoes (boots, but not shoes). That's why I plan to wear them in the house to decide on comfort. If they hadn't had the extra 20, I would have waited.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Math Teacher you are a smart lady! You could always buy now, determine your size and then return them not and buy them on sale if you like them.

    ReplyDelete
  191. What do you think this means? I placed an order around 5:30 Central on Tuesday, via phone, and it's still showing as "open" on the site. I called and the CS gave me the same information, but a somewhat incomprehensible answer as to why. IT's a big order. Do those take longer to pack and ship? All new stuff, only one item on sale (and not final sale).

    ReplyDelete
  192. J Crew Aficionadas, I too had an encounter with NATEDAC who charged me outrageous shipping on an item that was already in stores (albeit not in my size). This seller is a woman not a man and does not seem to be affiliated with J Crew except that she gets merchandise WAY before the rest of us do. She did ask me to complete my transaction off Ebay, which I declined, and I have not delt with her since. I am not sure why someone has not reported her shipping changes, I know that I surely did.

    ReplyDelete
  193. weab & blumre - I took my wool Fiona back yesterday. I don't miss it at all.

All - regarding outlet items. The 3 diamonds on the neck tag is also applicable to BR outlet items. I'm pretty sure the same applies to Old Navy. Speaking of...I bought DH some t-shirts in various colors 3 years ago and they are still holding up. So if you see an ON outlet, you might try it for some basics.

    ReplyDelete
  194. vivian: So, SO sorry about all of your problems. I wouldn't want to order anything either! I do agree with other's suggestions that Mickey needs to know how you were treated. Even if you were in the wrong (which you weren't), CS has no business talking to a customer like that. Or, randomly canceling an order just because. I CANNOT imagine. If you do decide to call back, maybe you could ask for a PS and see if (s)he can straighten it out for you. Don't they realize that they're going to lose customers if they continue to treat them like trash?

    ReplyDelete
  195. you GO Gigi!!! I'm so happy to hear that! btw, I saw the outlet "bella" and it's nowhere near the quality of the original. The wool one is more like the wool fiona in stores now...not very good.

math teacher: congrats on you purchase! If I wasn't so mad at the crew right now, I'd TOTALLY be calling for a pair myself!
