Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  2. I wandered off the J. Crew track and found a silk blouse I really like. It's on the Everlane site. At the moment it only comes in 3 colors. I purchased navy. I bought XS which equates roughly to between a 0 and 2 in J. Crew. This is a gorgeous and well made blouse. The silk has a good weight to it, definitely heavier than the Blythe blouse. Covered button placket (but unlike the Blythe, the buttons actually match and aren't white!), nice shape and good finishing details. I hope they offer it in more colors. I'm now tempted to try their cashmere as well.

I have a number of Everlane tees which I LOVE. The Ryan is a favorite, I've worn and washed many times and nary a hole or fraying seam. I'm looking at you, J. Crew.

It is a membership site, but no obligation. If you're interested you can join here: https://www.everlane.com/n/g2qymg

  3. I just received a L.L. Bean catalogue even though I have never shopped there before. I did however see some pretty decent looking basics and possibly super comfy and warm house slippers. Any reviews on their quality and fit?

  6. I should have read Desert Flower's review first! I heartedly agree!

I purchased an Everlane silk blouse the day their blouses launched and it really is beautiful! I got the mustard color and it has all the details I would have wanted with a J. Crew blouse that Desert Flower mentioned, but for much less ($80): matching colored buttons, a sweet peter-pan collar, rounded edges on the sleeves, hidden placket..and the silk felt like very nice quality to me too. It looks very refined and classic, but still had a young vibe.

Plus it was returnable and I'm fairly sure it's not going to be $40 in 3 weeks on final sale! :P

  7. Two quick Boden reminders!

The diminishing discount that is going on right now ends the 20% with free ship tomorrow night (11/8/12). I have more information on the diminishing discount sale here at this post.

The Boden Spring 2013 Preview ends its 20% off with free ship and returns promo on Friday, November 9, 2012. I discussed that here at this post.

I plan on compiling a bunch of Boden Preview picks into one post tomorrow, and when I do, I will update this post and let you all know. :)

    Enjoy!

  8. If anyone is looking for a cute heart sweater (still), Nordy's November catalog features a really cute version by Caslon that is not final sale and is returnable (at any time if it doesn't live up to your standards).

  9. We must be on the same page, Desert Flower, because I ordered Everlane's cashmere sweater. I love, love, love the shape -- I was looking for a sweatshirt-y shape, but without any bulk, and always found the Isabels to be too droopy. This one is perfect. And the cashmere, while not Loro Piana, is at least up to J. Crew's standards too. We'll see if it piles.
