Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. The Cyber Monday promo is up: MONDAY gets 25% off & free shipping on any order.

SO glad I placed one last 30% order w/my J Crew card before it ended.

    1. I could never get the 30 percent off with my card to apply or work and I'm actually glad I waited because now there's no minimum for the shipping and it's free

    2. Genny - It's a stupid, stupid checkout. I couldn't get it to work at first, but with 6% on Ebates, I stuck it out:

      1) Your default credit card should be J Crew.

      2) If it isn't, click and set it as your default card.

      3) At this point the promo code still may not go thru. You might have to click CONTINUE.

      4) The promo code box should still show on the screen. At this point you can put the code it.

      5) The page should now reflect the 30% discount & free shipping.

      6) Then click PLACE ORDER.

I hope this works for you & everyone else. Like I said, I struggled with it for awhile. The trick is getting the system to understand that you've changed your J Crew card to default. They probably read here that orders were going thru w/non J Crew cards and they clamped down on the gate. They just clamped down too dang hard. I don't really need a Tough Mudder style check out to buy something.

If you've already placed orders at 25%, but used your J Crew card, I would send an email asking for an adjustment to the 30% and a return of the shipping fee if you paid any. J Crew -- unlike the Gap family -- is fair about a return of erroneous shipping fees.

  3. For this most recent 25% off/30% off sale, are you supposed to be able to also use your student discount on top of that? Or no?

I had a conversation with a SA about this, and she said no, but I thought that you could. She said for this particular promo, you couldn't.

    1. Same here. Even my VPS said no to the student discount.

    2. Phoebe - From my understanding, on 'global' promo where there is a blanket % off on everything the student/educator discount does not apply. Of course there are some employees who don't understand the rules or just don't care and have applied it to purchases. It depends on who you get, but it's supposed to be no in this case. I think the confusion comes because of items on sale/clearance. When there is an addtl 30% off, the discount is supposed to apply because it's not a 'global' promo. The employees think that the student discount doesn't apply and it's supposed to. Adding even more confusion is that it used to apply, they took it away and then reinstated it. I'm not surprised that everyone is confused.

    1. Hi Sarah and welcome. Sales at J Crew seem to be driven by the need to move merchandise. If they need space, they will have a sale. If things aren't selling, they will mark them down. However, we have also seen items that are released and marked down in the first few weeks. There is no rhyme, reason or regularity you can hang your hat on. They tend to not 'name' their sales, i.e. they aren't calling today's promo a Black Friday promo. They won't title a Dec 26 sale Post Christmas Sale. Someone mentioned that the extra 30% off sale items sales that happen are on a cycle. They do happen with regularity, but they're not on a set schedule. Right now sale items are not on final sale, but once Christmas hits the sale section will go back to final sale.

Good luck w/ordering from overseas! It may take a couple orders, but you will soon figure out what works for you or not. Definitely utilize the blog here & other blog review to ask questions before purchasing.

  6. I visited the Copley Plaza store in Boston over the holiday weekend. It is a lovely shop, with a very large , and full, sale section. I was very tempted by the Nora chain flats, but my better judgement prevailed, because they are just not a great fit for me. So cute though!

  8. The Birmingham, AL store had an extra 30% off sale (but that means everything is final sale) today.

The St. Louis Plaza Frontenac store did not have an extra anything off sale, at least not yesterday (Sunday).
