One More Day: Shop J.Crew's Sale {In Stores & Online}

Tomorrow is the last day J.Crew is offering an additional 30% off Sale with promo code MUSTHAVE.

Are we all shopped out? It seems like from the collective comments that we were not buying as much this time around. Speaking for myself, I can't figure out if it is because I already own the pieces that I want to own or because there is not a lot of new merchandise that excites me.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are interested in? If so, please share! If you are passing on this promo, how come?

Quick Poll: Are you shopping as much with the MUSTHAVE promo?

57 comments:

  1. I am shopped out from the full-price 25% off sale, but there is nothing drawing me to the sale section right now anyway. Most of it has been there a long time. Although, I did bite on something on that big pop-back day.

  2. I thought about getting the silk bow shoulder blouse but it was $99 and even with the 30% off was going to cost $84 after tax and shipping. "Self," I said, "will you wear this blouse enough to justify spending $83 on it?" The answer, unfortunately, was probably not.

  3. Is anyone else expecting some big for Cyber Monday?

    1. My VPS told me there may be another 25% off promo on FP items but didn't guarantee.. I would imagine it would be applicable online as well, but nothing other than the usual..

    2. My vps said there was an upcoming sweater promo this upcoming Monday and Tuesday. But no word on cyber Monday or black Friday deals.

    3. Usually they have a tiered % off promo on all merchandise around thanksgiving...

  4. I am slightly annoyed that prices on some items have gone down again. Just price it low the first time j.crew and it wouldn't be sitting there!

I am really hoping for a great Black Friday/cyber Monday code! I have a few full price items I would love to grab!

  5. Nothing for me from the sale section but I would definitely make another purchase with a 25% off promotion.

    1. Same. 25% off any of their basics like suiting or another cashmere tee is always a good deal.

  6. I bought a few suiting pieces & silk shirts throughout the 20%-30% sale season. Maybe I will get a few coats in Jan...

  7. I have a Rewards Card question (just got my JC Credit Card a few months ago): will the rewards card arrive with the catalog (style guide), or will it be coming with a separate piece (I heard a few people mention a "gift guide")?

And I'm in Canada, does that make a difference? Just wondering when I should expect to receive my rewards card and what I should expect to receive it with.

    Thanks!

    1. Caitlin - I am in the US. My rewards card arrived in a white envelope w/red lettering. The rewards card is tucked in an accordion style (fold out) gift guide. HTH

    2. This is also how my rewards card arrived.

    3. Thanks ladies! Maybe mine is taking its time because I'm in Canada.

  8. "...there is not a lot of new merchandise that excites me."

This. It's been a gradual shift over the last few seasons, but particularly noticeable now: the overbearing hipster elements to the offerings. I feel like the 'Crew used to be classic preppy with a twist. Now the twist has gone hipster (IMO the antithesis of preppy), and has taken over in a 'tail wagging the dog' fashion.

    1. I agree. I just paged through last winter's catalog and it was so appealing. Fun and not boring. They've kind of jumped the shark lately. I appreciate when they try new things, they just have to watch out not to be overtaken by it.

  9. I bought the cashmere cable sweater in heathered poppy. Still full price in store but they honored the sale price and 30% off. If anyone is interested in this one, it has a slight orange undertone to it. I think the color "dark poppy" is much more of a true red. The price strangely dropped from $169 to $159 overnight and that was enough for me to take the plunge.

    1. Ohhh, thanks for the info! I just ordered this one the other day and was hoping for a true red, hopefully it will work anyway. So weird about the price drop, I of course bought it before it dropped.

    2. Curious if you think this red will pair well with grey, or camel colored pants. I ended up finding some smalls- am still looking for one in GREY.

  10. Is it just me or has sizing this year been ridiculous? I just ordered a new set of the patent classic ballet flats because they went down from when I bought them (had been holding off on wearing just in case) and rather than return right away I compared the two sets and there was a noticable difference. In showes this seems crazy. But of course it is not limited to shoes. I bought some of the 7in chino shorts for my FL-dwelling mom for Christmas, 1 pair will be perfect, the other two were significantly tighter when I tried them on for pre-emtive sizing issues. Same with the No. 2 double serge wool skirts, not just color to color, but in the same color the same size will fit different. So bringing this vent back to topic... yes I have put in two orders so far, the first included the acorn heather No. 2 in double serge wool mostly as a ride along, but then it went down to 79.99 so I ordered it again instead of fighting for an adjustment and I will try both on before deciding what to wear... I feel like this is going to be one of the last decently stocked sales with the 30% before christmas and another final sale so I am trying to get the deals and gifts while I can

  11. I too agree. I feel like a lost puppy. I don't really LOVE anything that has recently come out and I don't know where else to turn! I admit, I'm a creature of habit, I liked shopping at jcrew because I knew "how" to shop at jcrew. I knew what size to get, the quality to expect, what a good deal was and so on. Now I find shirts are getting shorter, quality is changing, designs are no longer my favorite "preppy with a twist". As a result I have purchased anything the last 3 promos! That is amazing for me! The only items that tempt me are items that I could make "work" into my style.

As I have shopped around to find a replacement I can find prices of what I want but nothing fills the gap of what jcrew used to be.

    Sigh.

My pocket book says thank you.

    1. I totally agree- word for word. The only thing I've bought this fall has been a couple cashmere sweaters. And a pop back

    2. ITA. When I went in there on Friday and there was all this new merchandise, I was completely underwhelmed. I used to drool over everything. It's just too trendy. Of course there are still some beautiful basics , but they're becoming the exception rather than the rule. :(

    3. Very well said MegCrew! I couldn't agree with you more. I mentioned this exact sentiment to my husband the other day and his response was "you've outgrown it". This makes me incredibly sad. There are still items I like, but very few things I love. I miss the days when I literally wanted every single thing in the catalog. Please j.crew, stop this hipster with a twist path you are going down!

  14. I am calling to start a movement I would LOVE it if Jcrew would make the J. Crew Wool Oxford Jacket again. I have looked everywhere for something comparable. This jacket was AMAZING and comes from Jcrew 2007, one of the highest points in Jcrew history (in my opinion).

These always sell on ebay for well above anything I can afford (and even well over their original retail price!) so JCrew needs to remake it so I can have one in my closet and keep it there forever.

    1. Ditto everything you said! Please bring back the Oxford!

    2. Not sure what size you are, but the blue one is on Ebay right now in a size 6...and it's still around $65.

    3. P.S. That is totally not my listing, btw.

And I 100% agree that the 2006-2008 years were probably the best.

  15. After receiving my 20% card members discount box on Friday, everything is going back. Purchased the Toothpick ankle jean in classic rinse in my usual size and the waist was so huge, plus the 28in inseam too long for my short legs. So I took another look at the sale site and decided to try the PETITE DOUBLE-CLOTH SLIM TRENCH, it is on sale in Camel and think it is a classic color. Also the MILA DOT-PRINT BALLET FLATS, they have been haunting me for so long. Nothing final sale. OT but watched Tim Gunn on Marlo Thomas show and he said the number one fashion mistake for most women is capri pants. I must agree with him for me, they are a disaster.

    1. I got the double-cloth slim trench in camel last week and was very, very pleased! I'm glad I snapped it up during the promo and saved $160.

    2. I totally agree on the capri pants mistake. I just look stumpy with them on unless I am wearing sky high heels. I haven't bought any in 2 years.

    1. Oh the whole checkout process has changed, noticed that the promo code disappeared and had to be re-entered, so make sure it is applied before you place your order.

  17. Considering 2 items, but would love some feedback on sizing. Does the Sterling Skirt run the same size as the pencil? Or do you size up or down one from the pencil skirt? Also, do the Jackie pullovers run as small as the Jackie cardis? Thaniks!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Jruby18 - The sterling sits higher on the waist, so I sized up one on that. Click here for a comparison of the sterling vs flair and links to other sterling reviews. I'm wearing the version from 2011, but it fits similar to the one in 2012. Click here for a review of the double-serge wool compared to the factory wool pencil. Plus links to other blogger pics for the double-serge.

The Jackie pullover is weird. The fabric doesn't feel good. Someone recently mentioned that it feels synthetic & I agree. It also seemed prone to snagging. The top fits tight in a weird way. Think of how it feels when you put on a thermal layer. It feels that tight, but combine that with a thick material so it's just weird. I liked the color of, but returned the one I bought. I don't think sizing up would make it looser, for the record. It just doesn't have the slight slack like the Tippi.

    2. Thx so much for the info, Gigi!! I think you confirmed for me that I should pass on the Jackie pullover. Everything you said is what I suspected, so I probably should trust my gut and pass. Might order my regular size in the Sterling since I'm high waisted. That might fit me well. Thanks again!

      Delete
    3. I took the same size in the sterling as the pencil, but I have to size for my hips and butt in the pencil, so that may be the difference. I usually take a 2 in cotton capris, 27 in matchstick, 28 in toothpicks, and 4 in everything else, including both skirts. HTH!

      Delete
    4. Jruby18 - Good idea. I wanted to mention that if you have a smaller waist, you may not need to size up and just take your regular pencil skirt size. I have a barely discernible waist, even when at my 'fighting weight.'

  19. Is extra 50% off true???? http://www.refinery29.com/black-friday-2012?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=blackfr

    1. Christina - A store associate just posted a comment on that post that the 50% off at J Crew is not true. Refinery might be referring to the Factory store which is supposed to be "up to 50% off."

There's another rumble that there *MIGHT* be 25% off storewide at J Crew, but it hasn't been confirmed. Remember that J Crew usually doesn't do big promos for traditional big sale days and they never rarely attach a holiday name to it, i.e. they don't say Veteran's Day sale, and so on.

  20. Just visited my B&M. Not much in the sale section, but I found a purple striped Tippi that was $35 after the promo, but it was final sale. The SA did stack the student discount, though, which I appreciated.

My husband wanted a pair of shoes that were on sale online, but still full price in the store. The SA agreed to price-match, but she wouldn't apply the 30% discount; she said it only applied to items ending in .99. He ended up just ordering them online when we got home.

Why can't the store and the website just be consistent?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's so annoying when stores aren't consistent: the SA at my store would not stack the 30% discount and the student discount, claiming it was a new company policy not to do so.

  21. I posted pics and reviews of the navy Macalister wedges and the black Wonderland Puffer today here.

I stopped in today to make a bunch of returns, but didn't see anything I was dying to try on, and the sale stuff looked the same.

  22. I have a 20% off a purchase of $100 or more with J Crew card that I won't be using; it expires today (November 18). Somebody please enjoy code JCIU6E7LP !

  23. First time I have ever NOT used a full price off code, so here is a code for someone, 20% off 100 or more when you use your Jcrew Card, ends tonight Nov 18th: JCIXD44YB

  24. Stopped in today and bit on a couple stretch perfect shirts. 30% off sale is running, plus signs are up for 25% off cashmere, out of case jewelry also. Sale section was full, lots of pencil skirts (festival blue, spicy gold, graphic print), schoolboy blazers, sweaters, toothpicks... Stuff is still not moving even with the additional % off. They may just ship stuff back to the warehouse, so watch for popbacks online.

  25. Darn, they got me with that Lady Jacket. It just looks so amazing on, and it is perfect for CA weather. And apparently, they got my husband, who bought 2 full price shirts! I hope I can get a PA if there is a Black Friday sale.
