It is always nice to see an additional percent off available online and in B&M stores. I am also pleased to see it started before Thanksgiving, so we can get an extra day in!
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are interested in? If so, please share!
Got a Factory email that everything is 40% off, plus an extra 15% off if you spend $100+ with code GIVEANDGET!
ReplyDeleteYippee! What an amazing sale! Great that there is no minimum. I seem to recall last year, one had to spend over $150 to get the discount.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a wonderful deal, but when I looked at the website I found out the 40% off is already included in the prices ("prices as marked").. So when you use the code (if you spend more than $100), all you get is 15% off. A little deceiving, once I checked and there are lots of items (at least the ones I had my eye on) that are marked the original price (FP).
ReplyDeleteHm, yeah, this is deceiving. My email said Everything is 40% off (price as marked), but not everything is. On the landing page, it says "up to 40% off" -- um, that's not the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI agree w/Nanda re: JCrewfactory, the prices are ok, but not the best they could do. Several items I already own were a better price back in October, and it looks like they removed the popular classic button-down shirt in plaid from the site.
ReplyDeleteOff topic: Regarding the new checkout screen, I would like the price being paid for each item to be shown before I commit the purchase. I can do the math but it's just quicker/easier for it to be displayed on screen. The price per item impacts what I'm purchasing, not the discount on the entire order.
Strangely I'm on a Mac and I see the new checkout when I use Chrome, but still see the old one on Firefox. With the new checkout in Chrome, there's no way to enter a rewards card. I can enter the card number but there's no place to enter a PIN and when I try to submit the card number, I get a "Please enter a valid PIN" error.
Delete(By the way, this is just based on mock checkouts - even with the discount, there's not much I'm inspired to buy today.)
I noticed the same thing in Chrome (though I'm on a pc), but once I signed in, the pin box appeared, and I was able to use my rewards card, no problem. I grabbed a few things, so now hopefully I can just relax and enjoy my holiday weekend. Good luck to anyone flying today - my plane is already delayed! :(
Delete@justvisiting -- Agreed on both counts! They had the discount showing back on the other day, and now it's been removed again. So annoyed -- I like to see that discount as well.
ReplyDeleteOT, but Anthro has 25% off sale and tons of markdowns this morning. I'm not sure if it's advertised yet, but it applied automatically to my cart.
shopwithm - Thank you for the Anthro info!
DeleteThe cardholder 30% is live!! CARDMEMBER gets 30% off your purchase.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks tons! Would not have known otherwise.
DeleteDo you know if this 30% off applies in stores?
DeleteYes, the 30% cardholder promo is good in-stores as well per the email I recvd. I would definitely speak up if the cashier doesn't say anything. They are briefed or given access to current promos when their shifts begin, but believe me that doesn't mean anything.
DeleteIs there an online code for the cardmember 30% off? My local store also confirmed 30% off everything in store with the JC card.
DeleteNevermind about the code...I just realized the code is CARDMEMBER. Thanks!
DeleteThis is a great promotion and I'm so glad cardholders get a little something extra. :)
ReplyDeleteOT: Madewell is also offering 25% off and Free Shipping with code TREAT. More details in this post.
ReplyDeleteHad just placed an order with the 25% off. Then got the email for 30% off. Called CS and they credited the difference. I think I am done shopping but hey never say done with j crew crazy pricing. On another note a coat
ReplyDeleteI bought on sale with 30% off is now FS so I did make one smart early purchase. Happy thanksgiving everyone
Nothing is supposed to be final sale right now. CS confirmed for me. Lots of glitches. In addition to some items marked ending in .99, the solid opaque tights on promo for $14.00 are showing up as FS, for example.
DeleteReally? The Gabby top and the opaque tights I just bought (as you mentioned) are both final sale...
DeleteI am all shopped out, but I have some reviews here for those interested.
ReplyDeleteReview of the thermal stripe henley in this post. It's $45, currently on promo for $29.50.
ReplyDeleteThank you, J.Crew! Love this sale! :)
ReplyDeleteLadies, run don't walk to your nearest Factory store! Just came from there and the whole store is 50% off, no exclusions!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone had any luck recently with stacking the student discount with another promo at any of the NYC stores?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try this morning. In the past, the manager at my store would always let me...but it's always good to ask anyway.
DeleteI just got an email offering 30 percent off of any purchase, either in store or online, for cardholders. Yay! :)
ReplyDeleteNever got this e-mail.
DeleteBetween this sale and the Anthro sale this morning, I think I've done pretty well. I do plan to stop by my local store this afternoon also :)
ReplyDeleteOT, Alexis I see JCA got a mention in the New York Times today. :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/22/technology/personaltech/online-shopping-tips-for-the-holidays.html?hp
Awesome! Alexis, you are amazing!
DeleteCongratulations Alexis! I agree with xoxo...you are amazing! :)
DeleteCongrats Alexis. Thanks to this blog, I know about J Crew sales, what to buy and what I should pass on based on the reviews. It is the best, a little addictive at times...but gotta pick your vices.
DeleteYay - congratulations, Alexis!!
DeleteCongrats Alexis!!
DeleteThere are a lot of new promo-priced items this week. For those interested, I updated the women's list here. :)
ReplyDeleteReview of the Viv calf hair flats in Chocolate Leopard on my blog today if anyone is considering them with the promo. Click HERE for details.
ReplyDeleteI really like this style of flat with the pointed toe in calf hair and the pattern is quite nice. Definitely keepers for me.
Has anyone tried on any of the Silk Boyshirts from Madewell? If so, could you comment on the sizing? I am usually a size 2 in J. Crew shirts (sometimes a 0) and am not sure if I should opt for the XS or the S in the Madewell shirts. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteHi Caitlin - I think the boyshirts at Madewell fit generously (like they do at J.Crew). I am usually a size 0 (sometimes a 00) in J.Crew shirts, and wear an XSmall in the Madewell boyshirts.
DeleteThanks FFM! So if I'm usually a 2, do you think the XS would be okay?
DeleteHey Caitlin - I think it will depend on your shoulders and your bust size. If you have a larger bust and broad shoulders, then I would probably size up to the small. The best way to know for sure would be to ask the CSR on the Madewell chat feature for exact measurements of the shirt you're considering.
DeleteCaitlin - I sized up on the Silk boyshirts at MD, I thought because it is silk M was a better fit for me (I'm usually small). HTH!
DeleteThanks Andrea!
DeleteI went to two different B&Ms today but bought nothing. I've already got everything I want from the fall collection.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the big bow sweater?
ReplyDeleteAD MD - Review of the giant bow sweater in this post. I hope that's the one.
DeleteEverything is indeed 50% off at JC Factory - however - it doesnt appear that they hv rcvd any new merch - i was there last wk when they did 40% off & used my 30% off coupon and there was much more avl - today i didnt see any excursion vests (which i was hoping to score in red), no adl sweaters, etc... - still left w/ a few pieces & used my $25 off $125 coupon so all was not lost - I would suggest calling ahead or even doing a charge send to avoid being disappointed...
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the double serge hacking jackets are on sale in store?
ReplyDeleteAny new markdowns in store? Thank you!
You can always ask to have the price matched to the price and promo listed on the website. They usually do that.
DeleteA couple of quick reviews: The Sperry Shearwater two-tone tall boots run small. I'm always an 8, I bought an 8, but with socks they are too small, mostly in the length. The Collection Mohair sweater is cut like a normal sweater, not short, sleeves are normal length (and maybe even long). I love the Heather Pond color. It is probably going to be itchy for a lot of people, but I love it and would probably just wear a tissue tee under it.
ReplyDeleteI bit on this one- Gabby dot top, silk cami and a couple pairs of tights. With 30% and my rewards card, it was pretty cheap. But I am with everyone else- the new shopping cart takes some getting used to.
ReplyDeleteI bit for the stretch jean jacket, the perfect shirt in open check in Thomas Mason fabric, the mona tassel heels in adobe, and the velvet tee in admiral. Not sure what I'll keep, but it's a relief not fussing over FS.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations on being mentioned in the NYT, Alexis!
I ran in to make a return -picked up the faded chambray popover anx glad I was able to do this in store vs having to put an order together online for free ship. The Oakbrook IL store looked amazing and made me think the other North Ave store in Chicago I usually shop depresses me because its too small and sloppy looking. Anyway I enjoyed myself for the 10 min I was in Oakbrook. Oh, did manage to try on the Cacoon coat in the camel ish color and fell in love!!! Happy holidays everyone!

ReplyDeleteUsed the 30% discount plus my holiday rewards $25 card to get a great deal on a mini brompton hobo! Already have a nice brown purse so went black instead of henna. Still might get a baby in henna though...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your NYT mention, Alexis!
ReplyDeleteSo excited that the black bubble necklace is on sale plus the 30 percent off. If you haven't seen it in person it is different from the other bubbles. The stones are faceted and very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI got 30% off in store. I just reviewed some of my purchases:
ReplyDeletehttp://handbagaficionado.blogspot.com/2012/11/jcrew-2012-black-friday-holiday-shopping.html
I was wondering about the sizing of the sequin bow cardigan? I wear a small in tippi sweaters and can't decide if I should go up a size or not. TIA!
