J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigiOfCa & Shopping Celle (in this post), Louise @ INGREDIENTS (in this post), as well as Life as a Cat & Cynthia F (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The latest Holiday catalog is not yet available to view. On the cover is the model with the bright red glasses. {eye roll} However, J.Crew did post the December 2012 catalog (click here to view) .

I am off to check out the new arrivals for myself...

More exciting news! J.Crew is offering 25% off and free shipping on orders of $150+, and 30% off  and free shipping on orders of $250+, with promo code WINTER. This amazing offer expires December 2, 2012.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. Where is the cat critter sweater?!! I see a Pear, but no kitty

  2. A few things I like. The a-line suiting dress looks cute but I am suspicious of the length.

For anyone wondering about the bow neck top in bow print, I tried it on last week in store. It runs TTS, is not super short (though at 5'10" I might have to be checking on it throughout the day to make sure it was still tucked in!), is about the same weight as the blythe, and is pretty cute. But, I hated that the hem is not a blind hem. It has a regular old hem and it looks super cheap. Also, the bow print, bow, and ruffles all together on one top could be overwhelming for some people. I liked the top, but feel it is WAY overpriced.

    1. If the A-line dress is the same dress that DaniBP reviewed on her blog, the "wool with a touch of stretch" means 43% polyester!

  3. Gee whiz, can't they do a rollout without issues. Lot's of missing images and descriptions, a couple of inconsistent photos between the all and the individual product pages too. It always looks so amateur.

I only found one thing to like, the cashmere getaway hoodie. The pear sweater is kind of cute and a bit Christmasy but the fabric content is as expected. This is a clear example of J.Crew following trends and embracing fast fashion. It's obviously not made to hold up for more than a season.

    1. Yeah, I checked it at about 10:30 (CA time) last night and there were a bunch of missing pictures or descriptions.

There was a great striped cotton v-neck sweater that was showing up as backordered (even though I've never seen it before). I was feeling lazy, so I didn't order it and now it has disappeared from the website! Hopefully they'll have it in store....

    2. OK, I just had a chance to take a peek.

I like that hoodie too, xoxo.

I also like the cashmere waffle henley, the bonded beaded sweater and the collection bonded sweater-coat. Not sure, but words such as 'collection' and 'bonded' don't quite go together.

What I do not like is the half-tuck and messy hair look. I walk the city streets and am yet to see this look. If it's supposed to be trendy, it's not catching around these parts. :).

  4. It's nice to see a promo that can be used on both full-price and sale again, especially on the day of new arrivals. I don't really see anything in the new rollout that I'm interested in, but did have my PS track down the herringbone excursion vest at one of the stores for me.

There are a lot of new promo-priced items for both the women and men today. I've noted them here on my blog. The Bouclé jacket, pencil skirt, and dress are all included for anyone who has been waiting for them to get marked down.

  7. Was curious to see the cat critter sweater! Wonder when that will hit the stores. Otherwise I didn't see a whole lot.

OT... Totally late to the party on the Excursion Quilted vest in Bisque. Looking for an XS. All the stores are completely sold out, and I even had a VPS look for me!! She put me on the Wish List, so I'm hoping it'll pop back. Please e-mail if you have one you were planning to return, or if you see it anywhere (long shot, I know... can't tell you how many SAs told me my search was futile when I called their stores yesterday). Many thanks!!!!

  18. And one more thing from me today - what exactly does J.Crew have against full length pants??? It's winter for crying out loud!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Maybe they expect people to wear them tucked in boots so that the bottoms won't get dirty in the snow (for people who live in cold climates, anyway)? My standard go-to winter outfit consists of a long sweater/tunic, skinny jeans/pants (especially the Minnie if we're talking J.Crew) and tall boots.

      Delete
    2. It's because Gayle likes naked ankles. The skinny pants in boots is cute for weekends, but isn't work appropriate for most people.

    4. WTF - pills already?

    5. I wonder if they'll let me return this even though I've worn it. Or maybe I should just wash my hair.

6.It's a little hot wearing this coat indoors but damn, I look good.

    7. OMG - my shirt hem is longer than my dress!

    8. I thought these were french cuffs!

9.My date ditched me. Maybe I should have washed my hair.

  20. Has anyone tried the Collection Embellished Sweatshirt? I love the look but wonder if it will be short and boxy?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. #33457: i pre-ordered it thinking it was my answer to getting some sequins without a whole shirt of them. when i got it, i was so incredibly disappointed. it's boxy and lose. i'm normally between an XS and S and i thought i'd go with the S since that's what i get in their sweatshirts. way too big. needed XS. the sleeves are too short to be long sleeves but too long to be bracelet sleeves. i guess if i went down a size, it would be more bracelet or 3/4 type sleeves. not in love with the embellishment either. it was kind of heavy to me. and somehow noisy (but that could be because it hung too low with the wrong size). and i thought it would be a lighter gray than it was. honestly, it was delivered at about 1:30 yesterday and i returned it about 4pm.

    1. I actually was at a jewelry party and the rep had the cutest pair of pink glasses kinda like those - not as thick. It was super cute on her. So, it *could* work IRL, probably not for me, but you know, if you're hipper than me, lol!

  26. Hi. Has anyone tried the Collection Circle skirt in navy (or grey dot). I'm interested in the navy skirt but it's only online. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and returned it promptly.

I was hoping for the skirt to be full/puffy with nice volume. However, when I tried it on, it was completely flat. Also, the material looked glossy at the site but was dull when I got it.

Thinking more about it, perhaps the skirt would look fuller if it has not been packed/laid flat and shipped in boxes. Anyway, since it was not a cheap skirt and it did not wow me, it was an easy decision to return.

  30. Eh..nothing excited me too much with the new arrivals. But is the Stripe cotton-silk popover already sold out?

And anyone have comments of the perfect shirts in buffalo check or tartan? I just noticing these for some reason and now eyeing them since I’m still on the fence about the black watch one.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I love my black watch perfect shirt. The material is soft, the buttons are sewn on well, the button holes are completely finished, and the shirt fits TTS. It looks great tucked or untucked. If I get enough work done on my seminar papers today, I'll get some review pics posted tonight.

    2. I own the perfect shirt in black watch tartan and am obsessed with it. The colors are beautiful and it is a nice, warm flannel. I've worn and washed it on several occasions and it is still as beautiful as it was the first wear.
I ALSO have the buffalo check shirt in the blue/gray checks and am equally obsessed with it. Warm, cozy, AND adorable. I'm currently debating buying the red, as well. I love it that much.
The perfect shirt in black tartan wasn't the flannel material I was hoping for, so I returned it.

    3. Thanks ladies! I've tried on the Black Watch shirt a couple of times and do like the colors...but was worried about the quality and how it would hold up. My store has a ton of these in stock...just wish they would match the online price.

I can be an indecisive shopper..especially when it comes to J.Crew, so really appreciate all of your feedback. :)

    4. I also have the buffalo check shirt in red and LOVE it. Although all of a sudden I'm seeing everyone wearing the same pattern all over the place. But it is a classic, so even when the "trend" goes away, I'll still be wearing it.

  31. Yes to the Cece cap-toe flats (although not at that price) and I'm curious about the Collection Scatter-dot dress. Love that it's silk and long-sleeved but that description of "a cascade of fluttery ruffles adds just enough volume at the hem" could spell doom if it's not done right.

  37. Not finding much on J.Crew anymore that tickles me, but I've been quite smitten with a lot of items from J.Crew Factory. 40. I am new here and was wondering if anyone bought the Schoolboy blazer in bright orange (hope I got the color right). Wanted to get your opinions on fit/fabric. I really like the vibrant color, not sure if I should get it, its on FS in B&M.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not sure if you are talking about the Modern Red? It's sort of an orangey-red and the wool flannel one. If that's the one, the color is stunning but I ended up returning the one I ordered because the fit wasn't quite right on me. It is a bit short and boxy and was very constricting on my shoulders. I ended up getting the J. Crew factory professor blazer instead in the red color (it's more red than the schoolboy but still a bright, vibrant color). The price was better and the fit was way better on me: more stretch/comfort and more fitted/flattering at the waist. That being said, it doesn't have the same amazing details as the schoolboy (the gold buttons, striped lining, and color on the back of the collar). If I found it on FS for a good price, I would probably re-purchase it :)

  41. The in-store & online prices have gotten a little cozy. Not some of the crazy variances we've seen in recent past. J Crew has yet to take my advance and have a markdown party, ensuring that all sale items have a SALE STICKER with the CORRECT SALE PRICE. Nevertheless, I have kept up as best I can with the In-Store Price Guide. I put the most recent dates in red so they're easier to find.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, I forgot to say that I *do* think we will see some deep store cuts and the in-store prices will be very different than online. Of course I could be totally wrong. It's all a guess. Here are some things I know for sure:

    In-Store
    * Colorblock shell (silk) $79.99 - papaya only
    * Invitation clutch in glitter $69.99
    * Dot print shirt $49.50 promo - I thought this was online, but I don't see it. I think the style # is 26728 but I am TOTALLY going from a hopeful memory. Regular price $78. There are 2 color choices and I couldn't tell you what they are. It's similar to the white button down with black dots that was out early in the fall season. The one that sold out quickly. I want to say one is mint with pink pindots. And for the life of me I can't even guess what the other is.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Also...

    * excursion vest in navy XXS & XL (one each)
    * excursion vest in herringbone...about 6 various sizes
    * bow necklace (2)
    * peacock necklace (1 or 2)

  44. I looked through the new roll out items and there is nothing that caught my eyes.

I actually went to B&M a couple of weeks ago and tried on the kitty sweater. I like that the kitty is on the lower right bottom, which is a unique positioning. However, the kitty looks dull with its color and the sweater was just too itchy.

One funny thing I like to bring up is I saw the 25%/30% promo last night before bed (I am at West Coast). The website had Majestic peacoats in all colors on promo. I ended up ordering the vintage berry and paid $133 with the promo. However, it seems like the promo was pulled today as it is backed to full price except the frosted citrus color. I also remember many other styles (like the cashmere stripe Tippis and many other coats) were also on sale and they were back to full price today.

I am happy with my majestic peacoat in vintage berry at such a good price, though I am unsure if I will ultimately keep it.

    1. I just wear a white fitted camisole under all of mine. I love both my Factory and retail Tippis, the fit is great and they're so versatile. 49. I love pears as much as anyone, but I DO NOT want to send a message (subliminally or otherwise) that connects or compares my body to a PEAR!!! Isn't that the dreaded shape that so many of us try to avoid (or at least camoflage)??? And don't even get me started on the angry rhino with his pointy horn...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh, the prices. They hurt me. Even if they go to sale and with 30% off, many of them will be priced right around what they would have been full-priced a few years ago.

Add to that the continuing use of non-natural fabrics and I cannot justify any order, even with a great 25% or 30% promo.

I might bite on something a bit later this month (there were a few goodies, like the striped tee with the wee little sequined birds), but I can't just jump and buy anymore, must really think hard before deciding what is worth my dollars.

Here's another thing, I had been eyeing a beautiful pelican print dress by Paul & Joe over at Net-A-Porter and wasn't sure it would make it to sale, but it did, and I pounced. (http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/310874) For $260, I received a gorgeous, incredibly well-tailored, unique, and special dress that is only a tiny bit more expensive than many dresses from J. Crew. I doubt I will regret this purchase, unlike a few duds that I have made over the past few years with J. Crew.

The pelican print, btw, reminds me of a lot of what J. Crew used to create...while it isn't the library print, it has the same whimsy to it.

I still love J. Crew, I just can't justify their higher prices when so many other wonderful clothing companies create superior products for near the same amount.
