J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including JSR, Nancy, & GigiOfCa (in this post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view.  However, J.Crew did include the annual Gift Guide (click here) for all members of the family.
As for new arrivals... I think I really like the Giant Bow Sweater (item 32831; $98.00). Of course, I need to see this in person to try on. From the product shot, the giant bow looks super fun! It is perfectly in position and I never have to worry about it becoming undone.

I will be honest and say I do not get the Sequin Rhino Sweatshirt (item 30463; $148.00). I am not sure why they picked the Rhino for the Holiday rollout. Why not a penguin or polar bear? Even a giraffe would have been cuter. And to make it a sequin rhino on a sweatshirt?!? I rather wear the bug pin...

More exciting news! J.Crew is extending their offer for 25% and free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code OURTREAT. This amazing offer expires today.

Side Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1660+ items) and Men (600+). Better yet? The dreaded Final Sale is gone... YEY!!!

Incidentally, the image above is the one used for the email sent out this morning announcing the new arrivals. I think this image would have been perfect for the cover of the December 2012 catalog. Much more festive, with bright pops of color. I can also see a beautiful outfit! At least it gives me hope that inside the catalog will be pretty to look at. :)

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. A tad disappointed, I was hoping for more lovely dresses, they've ruined that lovely black and white one by putting a big triangular iron hole in the back of it.

I do however like a lot of little things which have added up to a ridiculous total!

On the Sperry boots - I'm lusting madly over these, people of Sperry world - should I go up half a size from my shoe size?

    3. I recently received the Sperry boots in the chocolate color. I wear a 7 in Monas and J.Crew flats, but went with an 8 in these boots and they fit perfectly.

  2. Sperry shoes run HUGE on me and my daughter. I have no idea about the boots.

    YES! Final sale is over.

The new arrivals esp. the sweaters look awful to me. I mean really ugly. I cannot believe I used to order their sweaters by the UPS truckload! Not a single sweater ordered this year.

    1. ITA about the sweaters. The only one I love is the Handknit Popcorn Sweater, but I have to stay away from knits that are bulky through the torso. Bummer :(

    2. I loved the look of the Sequin Bow Cardigan for holidays until you look at the fabric content - Polyacrylic? Why don't they just say plastic? Blech. They are totally Kmart now and that makes me really sad.

  3. Some pretty new dresses and skirts.Lots of party wear in the new release. I am happy to see some longer lengths, too. Interested in the shape and color of the collection wool twill pant. I don't think I'll order though, the wool looks too heavy for my mild winters. Same with the pretty no.2 boucle skirt (not to mention my strong aversion to acrylic).

  4. I was expecting a huge rollout this morning. I just got that feeling but I didn't expect so many older items to pop back. That was great! Haven't received the catalogue but no big deal since I'm headed into my B&M today for some returns.

This is what my shopping bag looked like this morning:

Collection framed bow dress (New arrival. So beautiful)

Tippi sweater in Ivory, Kelly Green, Turquoise Pool & Lustrous Blue
(I just got on the bandwagon. Didn't realize what I was missing until I got my first one this week. Love!)

    Featherweight cashmere tunic in Navy

Polly popover in stripe Crepe de Chine in Green Navy (x-mas gift)

Collection draped Georgette top in Soft Sand
(I seriously hope it's not too sheer)

Cashmere short sleeve tee in Black (x-mas gift)

Collection Crepe Shawl blazer in Vintage berry
(I gave in. I love the color even though the style and quality didn't excite me too much)

Carriage Coat Dress in Heather Red
(A gift for my mum! She is just going to die. woohoo!)

Hacking Jacket in cashmere in Saddle
(I lusted after this hard last year and now a pop back in my size! I'm not a big fan of the schoolboy fit that they came in this year)

Icon Trench in wool cashmere in Heather acorn
(I had to buy 2 sizes to try but at least it's not final sale)

Toothpick cord in Champagne (at $15, I hope I like the color)

Collection jacquard dot pencil skirt in Club Blue

Saint James Minquiers III tee in Ecru Black (got the discount on it!)

Sleep cami, short & pant in Deep Peri

    Snakeskin belt in Deep Violet

Boy shirt in Indian Voile in Navy

Featherweight cashmere short sleeve cardigan in Snow

    and four bikinis!

Then I moved on to Madewell and did even more damage.

Needless to say, I need to stay far away from a J.Crew and Madewell (and shopping on a whole) for a while. lol. :)

    4. I got it for $224.99 after the discount and before NY tax. Fingers crossed that it ships.

  5. I got some great sale finds - kelly green Tippi, festival blue wool pencil, dark beige jackie & shell, and navy keyhole blouse - fabulous prices and not FS! Very excited. As for the new rollouts, not much I liked - love the multi-color pave link bracelet, but I already have the regular one, so I'll probably try to catch this on sale. And I thought the scarves and mittens were cute in the stripe colors.

  6. GLAD, GLAD, GLAD that F/S is OVER, OVER, OVER but just wondering where some of this stuff in sale section has been? It seems to be more than just a "few" popbacks??? Not complaining but some of this stuff has been gone for sooo long...

  7. The update to both the sale section and the new arrivals was good, but since I spent earlier in the week I'm on the wagon today.

The alpaca sweaters look decent; but I'm unsure what alpaca is like. Soft? Itchy? Piles easily? Any feedback would be good.

    1. Jcrew guy: I've only got an alpaca coat, I've never felt it up in a sweater!

    2. 100% alpaca is wonderful, soft in a different kind of way than cashmere, very warm, and it doesn't pill.
But J. Crew uses a blend and they don't say how much alpaca there is in it.

      Delete
    3. Thanks ladies, looks like I might have to add one of these to my list. With all the snow that just got dumped on us it may be earlier than later.

  8. Man, there were some extreme popbacks this morning! But I didn't find anything I needed... I did get the Madewell sheepmeadow sweater. Love that they have free shipping no minimum right now... I tend to buy much more that way!

jcrew guy in Canada, I have a 100% alpaca sweater from 2007, J.Crew, and it has nary a pill. It is extremely soft and one of my favorite sweaters! However, I also have a more recent one that is an alpaca/wool blend, and it pills like nobody's business. If the sweaters you're talking about are 100% alpaca then they are probably great.

  9. I'm surprised that I really love a few things: the collection bonded sweater jacket in navy? Yes please. The Lulu Frost jewelry in 'morning sky' is so pretty, I ordered the small earrings. I have to try the a-line dress in the indigo, could be my new perfect navy dress, we'll see.
No other party dresses I really am loving which is very unusual for me, especially this time of year. And once again, too much poly!
YAY to the end of final sale!

  10. I am so excited to try on the giant bow sweater! I'm hoping the bow isn't too cheesy :-)

  11. As far as the new arrivals go, some of the items look good from afar, but then you read that the first ingredient is acrylic or polyacrylic, and it goes from "wishlist" to "wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole".

    1. I want to tell you all that I know there was some interest in the sweater w/the hearts all over it. I saw it in store and thought it was really cheap looking. Terrible material. Just FYI to those that can't get to a b&m.

    2. Jruby18, I saw it too IRL, nasty and thin. I did not check the content breakdown but I am thinking low % of wool.

    2. Nope. It's not your imagination. I imagine that soon most items will be collection, then they'll drop the "collection" and have a new category called Basics. I mean seriously, didn't it start out as a "special, limited edition" thing?

IMO, this is just a path to their ridiculously quick, misguided attempt to become a "designer label".

  17. When I first saw the small image of the rhino sequin sweatshirt on my screen this morning, I thought, "Is that a dead bug on its back with legs sticking up?" Not the kind of edgy I'm looking for!
Some cute things, but I'm missing the festive tees, taffeta skirts and other things that are part of the holiday rollout. Maybe next time?

  18. I have to laugh that JC removes final sale on the same day they unload 500+ of extreme popbacks! I have a feeling we'll be seeing some of those pop back again and again.

I ordered the polka-dot ponte dress and handknit popcorn sweater to try, but am not optimistic because they look short and boxy based on the item pics. Everything else, I feel like Goldilocks: too short, too boxy, too neon, too garish, too frayed, too juvenile, too expensive, too cheap-looking.

  19. I am curious about the farmyard animal sweater. It looks like it might be sort of chunky, and not flattering on the body. But it is cute. I will hold off buying until I can try it on properly. I assume there will be some other promo at some point.

The Heartbreaker sweater is adorable--but it is a Dream Sweater, so it's thin. It's mostly a design piece.

I love a lot of the new jewelry, especially the tiger/leopard necklace.

I wish the interesting fabric reserved for the Cafe Capris translated to other pants as the I have yet to find a pair of JCrew capris that suit my body. The Toothpick jeans work for me, but that's about it.

I like some of the shirts, but not enough to buy one. They don't seem different enough.

All in all, it's a nice product update.

    1. Unknown, I agree! I wish not every interesting pant was a cafe Capri. The very low waist doesn't suit every body, and certainly not mine.

      Delete
    2. So interesting! For me the waist is always too high and the thighs too baggy. Once I size down enough I get major camel toe. I keep trying the capris because I love the fabric so much, but . . . I find BR pants boring and they did a major refit to their styles a few years ago. But I still find more pants that fit there than at JC, which is frustrating because I like the design of JC pants.

  20. Sorry I can't do "reply" but Sperry boots are TTS or large. So if you are usually a 6.5 you might be fine with a 6.

I love how my Sperry Pelican rainboots looked and they kept my feet nice and warm (with thick socks) all last winter. I wore them on ice and snow and on cold cold days (I live and work in Boston) and they were a great and cheaper alternative to Hunters.

Unfortunately, after six months I got holes in the heels. This happened to my J.Crew rubber boots as well. I don't think is a problem with Sperry - I think it is cobblestone streets. They ruin all my shoes.

Sperry had great CS - they sent me a return label for my old boots and sent me a brand new pair of boots in a slightly different check as the boots I bought were sold out. I don't really need them because I have given up on rubber rainboots but I will put my two pairs of Sperries up for sale for $40 each shipped in case anyone is interested. They are both brand new in box, size 6

    One is navy plaid rubber

  21. Love the Lulu Frost crystal and color statement earrings, am going to try the flower lattice necklace in crystal, kind of like the sequin stripe tee and funnelneck hoodie.

In girls, I highly recommend the girl bubble necklace -- great size for adults or kids. The Converse Jack Purcell glitter canvas sneakers in glitter pink is adorable.

Just want to adda a quick YAY for the cashmere improvement, if anyone wants to take advantage of the last (maybe) day of the OURTREAT promo. I fell asleep in the cashmere two-tone sweatshirt putting my daughter to bed last night, and woke up sure that it would be covered with pills, but it looks completely as good as new. If you can catch this particular sweatshirt in snow flax online (very discounted, in store is still full price), it's a great color, a nice warm neutral.

  23. The new arrivals were meh. The only thing that interested me was the merino-angora button-shoulder sweaters with motehr of pearl buttons.

Otherwise, holy popbacks Batman! The sale section is where it is at! Much more interesting than the new arrivals.

I ordered the Avery dress in cotton voile because I was pregnant when it came out so I did not bother but it looked so pretty and now my curiosity will be satisfied.

I also saw the ponte flare dress in a doable size for me - but my shopathome account wouldn't open up a J.Crew window. By the time I got it to work, the dress was gone. I am not happy with shopathome right now. I have placed three orders in the past week and no sign of them on that site. They better come through for me!

    I also ordered:

    - the ankle stretch skinnie in yellow
    - matchstick cords in yellow
    - two button shoulder sweaters (new arrival)- blue and yellow
    - cashmere boatneck in cafe mint
-featherwieght cashmere cardi in vibrant flame
    -scout chino in mint
    - iced lilac cafe capri (gonna take to the tailor to see if I can make these pretty pants work for me)
-stovepipes (cafe trouser) in the orange and green - I do like the fit and colors.

  24. Wow - not one thing I really want. And some hideously ugly stuff (the ugly jewellery especially!!)

I guess that's good for my wallet, but it's sad to see how J.Crew is changing and alienating its core customer base.

  25. After review of the new arrivals and new additions to sale, I decided that after weeks of placing way too many orders, the only item I want is the Everly pumps in azure. That's where I fell in love with them since they're so striking in person.

    4. I've never done capris in Winter but I must admit I'm intrigued. I'm not opposed to schlepping to work in Uggs or wellies and then changing into my nice shoes when I get to work - I do that most of the winter anyway. But what footwear and leg wear does one wear with winter capris? I couldn't bring myself to do bare legs and pumps in my freezing Canadian region but would a neutral/invisible trouser sock look totally ridiculous? Can anyone offer guidance to a newb? (:

    5. @ Cass: Haha, and I'd probably get a reply like "Thank you for your feedback! There are reasons that J.Crew has decided to stop making full-length winter pants that only someone who works in OMG FASHUN would understand. Your ankles are not actually cold, it's not snowing where you live, and you don't want to buy long pants b/c then you cannot see the pair of uncomfortable $400 heels that OMG FASHUN has decided you should be wearing."

    1. I cannot express how appalled I feel towards J. Crew's reaction to your blog posts and even more so the way they handled the situation. The say that they are a company who listens to their customers but they do not really want to hear what we are saying. hey are just trying to save face for their designer aspirations. I'll have them know that the designer loving crowd is a fickle lover and while they are hot now to the crewbies, their novelty will fade and it's their old, loyal customers that they'll need to carry them forward.

      Delete
    2. I, too, am appalled and disappointed. I wouldn't shop at J. Crew nearly as much without these fitting room reviews and a move to squelch them sounds like a very bad business move to me.

  32. Some cute items on this roll out, but expensive, like the collection leather pants *sigh*. I also like the popcorn sweater, the Lulu Frost wheat earrings and winged glory necklace.

There are a couple items that I am not seeing on their site to sell, but its worn by the models: the sweater paired with the leather pants, where is that? And the polka dot blouse worn with the No.2 pencil skirt in dot brocade, where is that blouse?

    ReplyDelete
  33. More disappointment for me. I don't know what I was thinking but I thought we'd be seeing more coats for this rollout but I guess JC is done for the season with so many new coats during the last rollout, and I have not ordered ONE coat this season, at all.

More cafe capris - Le sigh. HOW many capris does one need? I think JC did cafe capri in every single fabric, texture and color they can find. I am getting BORED.

P.S. That sequin rhino sweatshirt is a HELL NO.

    1. I have to completely agree. The amount of CAPRIs is overwhelming. I can hardly wear the ones I purchased last year for this time of year. In an area where it snows, capris do not work all the time.
I was hoping for nicer puffer vests (more puff and sherpa wool lining). Nothing. I liked the farm print fair isle sweater and red sequin is nice but I would never wear it enough. Have to say --- PASSING on it all.

  34. I'm extremely angry and disappointed on AJC's behalf that she was asked not to take photos.

Look at a store like Anthropologie that welcomes reviews and even allows customers to post photos on their site. That is the way to handle the issue of reviewing.

The fact that JCrew doesn't even allow reviews sends them into the Stone Age with regard to the internet. I would be very curious what JC's sales are in store versus online. Anthro, for example, has experienced tremendous growth online. If JC had a friendlier more consumer intelligent website, this would happen to them too.

Even a high end retailer like Saks or Bloomies allows reviews. It helps people like me who don't get out much and want to make an informed choice before shopping. I mean--this is how internet shopping works now.

  35. Absolutely nothing in this roll-out, or the last two have interested me. I have two bathing suits in my cart right now...bathing suits. I was expecting fabulous bags and shoes and dresses for the Holiday. I'm tired of sequins and critters (Farmyard Fair Isle anyone?) and Cafe' Capris...Good Grief! Did anyone see the back view of the COLLECTION Wool Twill pant? Yes, they made her put on an oversized pair but I don't want a saggy butt. Hideous.

  38. I have a question regarding their "one-time exception" policy --so when you ask once, you can never ask again? Do they keep notes or something? I made an order by accident and emailed them to request a cancellation, and the response I received wasn't very friendly.

This leads me to think that they do keep notes? I am quite annoyed because I never actually canceled an order on them.
