Take 30% off Sale with MUSTHAVE

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Tiffany Rose (in this post), as well as Maria, who let us know about the following promotion.

J.Crew is offering an additional 30% off Sale with promo code MUSTHAVE. This offer expires Sunday, November 18, 2012. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid at jcrew.com and J.Crew retail stores on orders shipping to the U.S. and Canada only. Offer is not valid at jcrewfactory.com or J.Crew Factory stores. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or to the purchase of gift cards. 30% off discount applies to sale items only. Offer valid through Sunday, November 18, 2012, 11:59pm ET. Savings are applied at checkout with code MUSTHAVE. Offer not valid on phone orders. Cannot be combined with any other promotion. Limit one promotional code per order. Details of offer are subject to change.
It is nice to see that the percent off got extended to online purchases as well. It is worth noting that stores are still running Final Sale, while Final Sale is gone online.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are interested in? If so, please share!

  1. Alexis, I wonder if the sale is not Final Sale, because the wording does not use the word "final". What you you think?

    1. Apologies, I mention on the bottom it is not Final Sale online and then in the top I used Final. I have gone ahead and fixed it. Thanks! :)

  2. I hope it isn't, I ordered 2 things to try on, and the words "Final Sale" did not appear at checkout. (shudders)

  3. Yay for another 30% off! :)

I noticed a lot of new Promo-Priced items added today and updated the Women's list here on my blog. I'll have the Men's list updated later this morning.

I also scanned 36 pages of the December 2012 catalog on Friday. They can be seen here.

  5. I returned some online purchases this weekend and was told that anything ending in .99 was final sale, especially if a 30% off was applied to it. I knew that myself, but when the item doesn show up as FS during check out, it shouldn't be FS imo. She told me that she was doing me a "one time courtesy" and returned the items. She also said it didn't matter if the receipt wasn't marked FS, it was automatically FS. I emailed my online Special Stylist (who is amazing) and she told me that none of those items were marked FS and she has no idea why the store SA gave me a hard time.
Anyway, just a little psa in case anyone runs into the same problem.

    1. Just wondering - how do you get an online Special Stylist? Is it a perk that comes with the J. Crew credit card?? I've been thinking about getting the CC for a while now... Thank you!!

    2. If you email jcrew at Erica at jcrew I believe, a special stylist will respond. They all seem nice, but some are better than others. You can work with different ones until you find one that you like. Good luck!

    3. That's BS. If it's not marked final sale, it's not final sale. They specifically took away final sale for the holidays. If she pulls that again I'd ask her where on the receipt it says that, and if it's okay for a seller to unilaterally impose different terms on a sales contract after the sale.

      Delete
    4. A - She was probably confused, because that is the policy in-store. In-store, whenever the sale section has an additional percent off, the items are final sale. The policy is different online; items are only final sale when they are marked final sale even if there is an additional percent off. If it happens again, just ask for a manager and they will take care of it for you (as well as set the record straight for the SA).

    5. A, I just returned some online purchases this weekend too. I never have any problems at my store. If it is not marked as final sale, it's not final sale. My PS told me the same thing too. That SA must be confused.

  6. I have never had any problems returning online purchases that were not specifically marked as final sale, regardless of whether it ends in .99 or whether an additional percentage is applied. If it isn't marked, I would definitely ask for a manager.

I mentioned this elsewhere, but now that Alexis has this post up, I'll repeat it here: the fatigue jacket (item 96222) that originally listed for $298 is now on sale for $199 -- with the 30% promotion, it's only $140 (and not marked final sale). I love my JC short fatigue jackets, and so I thought this longer version was worth trying, esp. since my B&Ms did not carry it.

  7. There's nothing I need in the sale section, really. I am trying to be good! The amount of clothing I have donated/ebayed/consigned lately makes me not want to shop. Do not need more!

This is OT, but I have a 20% off any order code for Sephora and it expires today. If anyone would like it, please e-mail me! jca 837 at gmail

  8. It is just regular sale. Final sale is gone for now--at least online.

  9. I know there's a weekly thread about non-JC coupon codes but I wanted to post this since I have one that expires today. 20% off at Sephora, one time use only, expires today (11/12) - VPG36M. Also a couple of one time use Piperlime codes - 20% off an entire purchase (K4LTMFX3Y3JV, exp. 11/22) and $20 off $100 purchase (TXMDNH14TCP4, use 11/27-12/5). If you use, please post to let everyone know it's gone.

    2. Louise - I really liked the pink cafe capri in herringbone, but returned them. The color just didn't work for me even though the pants were on the bottom. Reviews Feeling J Crewzy and What 2 Wear When. Ema's link is not working. HTH

  11. I am a bit shopped out as well. I have two packages coming today and depending on how those work out I will or not look at the sale section tomorrow.
BTW if anyway is contemplating the Cambridge cable turtleneck I definitively NOT recommend (poor quality IMO).
I am still in love with my cashmere cable from last year so maybe I will get another color on sale.

  12. Oh we got this one too! It's great to get them at the same time, I hope they do this more often.

  13. I am pretty shopped out these days but I'll be watching for a couple of popbacks. I may have missed the boat with the big sale update recently but who knows?

It's interesting that J.Crew is running a lot of promos lately. I wonder if it is just because of the holiday shopping season or if they aren't moving as much as they thought.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I have loved this years cashmere cable. Prior to this year I've had little cashmere, but I am a convert now.

I'm going to guess Sandy hurt jcrew and other retailers--and that they aren't moving inventory. The stars won't always align-clothes I like plus sales. Pacing myself but trying to get basics.

  16. Has anyone reviewed the collection cashmere ribbed sweater (item 14684)? It looks so thick and cozy - I'm debating whether it's worth it with the 30% off.

    2. That was my review. I have muscular calves, so if you have skinny calves I'm think you'll be fine. I decided to keep them in spite of the issue because there is a slight bit of stretch in the fabric. I think they will stretch out a little bit when I wear them, but I haven't had an occasion to wear them yet. The colors are gorgeous, especially the Red Currant. I would like to hear from someone who has them, too, though.

  18. Answers, please: i bought a wool pencil skirt (spicy gold, i love it) last week, on sale for $60. I was afraid to take the tags off though, b/c i already have 3 in other colors so its not a NEED, and i knew theyd be further on sale later. So i was right, now theres an extra 30% off. I am planning on going to j crew and seeing if they still have it in my size and buying at the cheaper price, then returning mine at another store so i dont get glared at. Is this okay, will they catch me and yell at me? Is there a better way to do this?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As long as the skirt wasn't final sale, they should take it back at any store. If it's been a week or less, then you could just go to your normal store and ask them to just adjust the price. Or, you could just return and re-buy it. I have found that if I am polite, the SAs are happy to help. If the SAs at your store tend to be a bit surly though, I would go with your first plan because for me, arguing is more of a headache than going to the other store. But really, there shouldn't be an issue because you are well within the return window. HTH!

      Delete
    2. Thanks! I did go w/ my first plan, which was good, b/c as i purchased my new one, the cashier next to me was explaining to her customer that they only do price adjusting within a week for full price stuff. Its my least favorite store location, the employees arent very compassionate.

  19. I'd love to buy a few more pair of shorts, but I'm not paying to ship them. Grrr. Even $5 flat shipping would be better than the current ripoff rate of $9!

Other than that I don't really see anything, and I have a monster box due to arrive today, wheeeeeeee! The porcelain paisley dress is enroute and I'm really hoping it fits. If not, I will offer it here for what I paid for it before I return it (yay for non-FS).

    Happy Monday y'all.

  22. It looks like they didn't have much of an update today. I did log on rather late though, maybe all of the good stuff was purchased earlier? I'm actually contemplating getting up early tomorrow, flashback to a year and a half ago when I was on there before 5am for more days than I care to admit. :)

    1. Hey tamara, I was up at around 5:30 and did a check (I'm an insomniac so I'm always awake around this time) but there was only a very tiny update. No crazy "where did that come from?!" popbacks. I usually check everyday during a sale too so you're not the only one.

    1. LOL! I have not bought a single thing from J. Crew since August 3rd, 2012...I have plenty to wear, so no need to buy. Of course, there are always some pretty things, but no 'need' for them. My goal is to be J. Crew free for another 2 months or more...so far so good.

  25. I agree with Tamara, the inventory isn't great right now. I may check tomorrow. I just got a small box from the OURTREAT sale and nothing was marked final sale on the packing slip, which is nice. My snake iPhone cover has to go back -- somehow I managed to get the only one in existence that's ALL one color! All muddy gray and no pattern! Uh, no. That's going back. Not sure if I will exchange or just return.

I am waffling on the Nicky tops. The emerald green color is gorgeous (and I also got navy) but they are soooooooooo lightweight...I was afraid to even try it on for fear of tearing it. But at $29.99 I will probably keep them.

Anxiously awaiting my monster box from OURTREAT...! :P

    1. I second your thoughts regarding the Nicky top. I have it in the cream/white, but it's just absolutely thin and see through. Right now, I'm wearing it under sweaters, but would love to showcase the gorgeous collar!

  26. This is just an FYI about this promotion/venting/props. I ordered the harper leather boots last week (full price) with the 25% promotion. I received Crew Cuts girls size 10 "pixie pants" in red. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Customer service was helpful and sent new boots even though she had to do a return/re-order, which resulted in two charges for boots pending a refund of the first pair. So, when I saw this promotion this morning, I checked the boots and they had gone on sale ($70 difference altogether with tax). So, I sent a nice email explaining the situation and simply said that if I had the boots (which I don't), I would return them to the store and re-order with the new promotion. But since I've already been charged twice (over $500) for the boots, pending credit for the first purchase, I do not want to re-order and I would just like an adjustment. And, I got the adjustment without any remarks about the price adjustment policy. Granted, this is the first time I've asked. Also, first problem with any jcrew.com order. So, a tragic shipping error but overall good customer service experience.

  27. If anyone happens to see the Cashmere Cableknit Sweater in Light Turquoise (which really looks just like a true turquoise) in a size Small could you please let me know what store? I am in desperate search on one.

And a word of warning...I already have this sweater and followed the care instructions very carefully last night (Hand wash cold separately. Reshape and lay flat to dry. Dry clean if preferred) Apparently it should say "dry clean only" because even though I was extremely gentle while i hand washed it in cold water, i ended up with less than stellar results - including a hole in the sleeve.

I submitted a WWFI search for a replacement but haven't had any luck. I just started actually calling stores. I just was on hold with Rockefeller Center for 20 whole minutes before I was disgusted enough to just hang up. I know I shouldn't put forth this much effort for a sweater that didn't hold up well...but I just adore the color and am hoping to find it again.

I would SO appreciate any help if anyone sees it anywhere!!!

  29. I have a huge order arriving tomorrow. Fingers crossed that all goes well. I rarely have problems with J. Crew orders but at the end of last month I didn't receive two packages that were marked as delivered. I got replacements for almost everything but I have to wait for a refund pending UPS/JC investigation of some sort. Last year I had 3! orders where I received the wrong item, all around the holiday season.

Pending a "one that got away" popback or new sale additions/price reductions, I won't be making any purchases for a bit.

  30. Dear Fellow JCA's,

I visited a B&M today and tried on a few things. I think my store got some new stock as well. I tried on a gray sweater with cute black bows as well as a sleeveless black velvet-y polka dotted dress that is not available online! You can see pictures from my trip at my blog, See Alice Go

  32. I went to the downtown SF B&M, and the sale section was LAME. Nothing new, the selection online is better.

The store did have new December stuff out. I just breezed through it to see what is new, since I had my 4 year old daughter in tow, I couldn't really try on things. The store had the new catalog out. Cute stuff, some are nicely styled / some not.

My favorite looks from the catalog is the Fancy Pants section, pages 36-43.

  33. I'm picking up the Thomas Mason shirts tomorrow. I'm hard to fit when it comes to basic shirts (long arms) and these seem to work well. I adored the two color check and two colors and a stripe shirt are on sale $115 (org$150) and are $80.50 with the 30%.

I hope more Liberty Prints make it to the sale rack soon!
