Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  3. Visited my retail store (Syracuse) on Friday and bought five pairs of colored toothpick jeans (mustard, cobalt, mint, red, peach) for my mom for a grand total of $49.95 + tax. Yes, $9.99 each. Gotta love those kill prices. Only her size was available though : (.

Also went to the nearest Factory Store (Waterloo) on Sunday and picked up pair of matchsticks and a wool mini for about $30 each for myself. They stacked snail mail coupons on top of the 40% off of everything in-store.

    1. Holy cow. Good job. I was at my store on Sunday and they were all still marked $39.99.

I picked up the red, mint and peach for $65 total and I thought THAT was a steal.

  4. I recently went to the J.Crew outlet in Seattle and bought the merino wool long cardigan in both dark grey and camel. The sweaters were around $79 and an additional 40% off. The men's casual button downs (casual but not the flannel) were $29.99

  5. I went to the Friendship Heights J. Crew in Bethesda, MD. They were doing the 25% off $150+ and that stacked on top of existing promos on vests and boots. I saw 4 pairs of wool check stovepipe trousers on the sale rack for $89.99 - they had a size 4 and I didn't notice what the other sizes were.

I tried on the hothouse floral and green chiffon dot top. Neither was for me, but I particularly loved the color of the chiffon dot top.

I also tried the stadium cloth cocoon coat in heather stone and black and liked it much more than expected. I will consider purchasing it with this promo if my rewards card ever arrives.

    1. You could have them check your account at the store to see if the rewards have shown up on it yet.

    2. uggh. the rewards. i still can't figure it out. i should have a $25 card (maybe $50) coming to me but nothing's arrived yet... and when i check the rewards balance, the numbers never add up right so i can't tell if i'm getting what i'm supposed to be getting. has anyone gotten their rewards yet?

    3. Just received word from my VPS that rewards cards will be mailed on November 8th. She said she may be able to access my rewards balance by the end of the week.

    4. Cate O, what is the promotion on vest? I've been considering getting the herringbone excursion, so if there's a good deal in-store, I might be tempted to stop by...

    5. MissJR - The credit card info was one of my recent vents. It's awful and rarely accurate. I asked JC about the Rewards card and they said I could call the credit card co to ask for the info. I didn't have the energy. You might try to see if they have it. I believe JC personnel can apply it if the credit card co can give them the info. I'm not sure as I haven't tried itmyself.

@Megan - The excursion quilted vests -- solid & herringbone -- were still 25% off as of yesterday, Sun. The price rings up automatically at promo price, so if you spend $150+ they can apply the current 25% promo on top of that.

  6. Are the Emmett Wedge Ankle Boots in-store in black? They disappeared from the website. I'm calling some stores this am, but if anyone has leads please let me know! TIA! Karenturk1@gmail

  7. This is off-topic, but I thought people might find this interesting. In an online survey for Nordstrom, there was a question regarding categories of retailers and which one the user identifies with. I found it interesting that J Crew was placed in the "modern" category. It really shows the evolution J Crew has gone through over the past years, I think 10 years ago it would have fallen in the traditional category.

-Traditional: Brands like Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Jones NY, Naturalizer, Cole Haan, Brooks Brothers
-Updated Traditional: Brands like Tory Burch, Coach, Lafayette 148, Ann Taylor, MICHAEL by Michael Kors, Stuart Weitzman, Burberry, Tahari
-Modern: Brands like Theory, BCBG, Vince, Hudson Jeans, J. Crew, James Perse, Jimmy Choo, Zara
-Fashion Forward: Brands like Sam Edelman, Haute Hippie, Forever 21, Steve Madden, Urban Outfitters, MARC by Marc Jacobs, Free People, Balenciaga
-Cutting edge: Brands like Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen, Helmut Lang, Proenza Schouler

    1. Thanks for sharing! I guess that explains why I'm not really in love with them anymore. I personally and not a huge fan of modern and trendy. I think it is the last bit of Crewlade in my system keeps me checking back. : ) It juts might run out soon though....

    2. I find this so interesting.

For a long time, I couldn't get into JCrew. I thought it was boring. A couple of years ago there was some kind of jacquard dress in the window in the Time Warner Center and my husband said: "Look! I think you would like that." And then I started to pay attention.

Oddly, this is the year that I've fallen in love with JCrew. Which I guess makes me an odd person in comparison to old timers. I love the Hacking Jacket and the crazy pants (though the Capris just don't suit my body). I like a lot of the jewelry and I even like the disheveled hair.

I'm often impressed by quality. I think the button down shirts are gorgeous. For a while I stuck to Factory. Then I got a "real" Perfect shirt and noticed a difference (though there are misses--some of the shirt haven't been such great quality). I think the Collection Cashmere is gorgeous. And thanks to everyone here, I've learned to shop.

Some of the categories above confuse me. I would never think of Updated Tradition and Tahari and Anne Taylor. I went to the Tahari sample sale this year, and there was a *lot* of fashion forward stuff. Then again, Tahari doesn't necessarily offer the same things to all department stores.

I'm surprised that Zara is "modern." And I'm really surprised that F21 is "fashion forward" considering that they constantly rip off other designers.

Saying this makes me feel guilty, because I know how disappointed many people are. But I love JCrew and feel so excited to have discovered it now.

    3. Yup, they are deifintely more modern now than the updated traditional that they used to be. As long as they don't venture permanently into fashion forward and cutting edge, I should still be able to find a few somethings from them every season. IMHO, I feel that higher end designers are the only ones who do fashion forward and cutting edge well.

  8. I was birthday shopping for my daughter at the Polaris B&M and saw a new sweater (might be a Tippi) called "Heartbreaker" in the store. Very cute! It came in two colorways and I bought the black with tan and pink hearts. They also had lots of Frenchie sweaters (sold out online) in all sizes. Everything in the store was 25% off, but that was not advertised anywhere, so maybe they were only telling "certain people."

  9. I fell hard for the new sweater too. I asked-it's a Dream sweater. The pattern is *so* cute. At 25% off, I could not resist.

  11. FYI -

Went in for a VERY last minute order today and they were marking down a lot of stuff for tomorrow.

The polka-dot Naomi top that has been in clearance for awhile was dropped down to $39.99. I also noticed the v-neck Dream sweaters (still FP online) are now on sale for $49.99.

I snagged the modern red Schoolboy blazer for $100 after discount.
