J.Crew Final Sale {nice update}

J.Crew has a nice update to their Final Sale section online (click here) this morning. Lots of merchandise for everyone (1000+ for Women and 400+ for Men). Moreover, it looks like several new pieces made it to sale along with some new price reductions. Yey!

Plus, the OURTREAT promotion is still going on, both online and brick & mortar (B&M) stores. Yey for that too! :)

Did you check out the Final Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)

  1. Finally ordered the Sterling skirt in Heather Acorn - it is the only color that I really "need" though the crimson maple is tempting, too. I was debating as to whether it would drop any lower - so glad I waited!

  2. So happy to get the Macalister wedges in the navy colorwary, as well as the merino long cardigan in camel and navy. Such nice basics. There were some good markdowns, I have to say. Also, the checkout page and process has been revamped!

  4. I just got odds and ends as usual. A couple of tees for my son, the Dark Poppy toothpicks, the modern red plaid boyshirt, a pair of shorts and also the high-waisted denim pencil skirt in rinse wash, since my beloved tailored denim pencil skirt doesn't fit anymore.

It was tough to resist some of the swimwear at such low prices, but I need it like a hole in my head. There's only one suit I'm watching and the price is just not dropping in line with others, so I'm stubbornly waiting it out. :P

Such wacky updates to sale these past few days, and the inventory never flips around midnight anymore. Always in the wee hours while I'm sleeping!

Not sure if this has been discussed since I haven't been posting much lately, but I'm not a huge fan of not being able to see the prices post-discount code but prior to reaching the final checkout screen. I had to toggle between two tabs. I need to be able to assess the final price before I decide if it's worth it to me.

On another side note, I wore my neon pink toothpicks to work (and to vote!) yesterday, adequately toned down with a black Tippi ... let me tell you something, neon gear is apparently a pure love-or-hate thing, lol! And you *cannot* hide in them. Younger women loved them, older women (my age and up) seemed to scorn them. I got quite a few 'elevator eyes' <-- my personal pet peeve.

Hope everyone is having a good week ...

    1. I totally bit on another bikini!!!!! Why????? I got the Golden Paisley which I tried in August. Fold over bottoms are flattering.

  5. I got the Tippi in neon fuschia (hopefully not too neon) for $30 and cashmere polka-dot sweater in green atlantic for $135 (only because so many JCAs loved it). Happily, they're not final sale so if I don't like it... Speaking of the dreaded final sale, when the heck is that going to go away?!

  6. Considering getting a pair of cafe capris and tailoring them to fit. Has anyone tried this? I love the colors and fabric but the fit is so matronly on me - like pants that moms wore in the 1980s.

I was thinking to get a pair in the women's size (not petite) and have the legs slimmed ... thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Flower Power. That is quite do-able. Any decent tailor should be able tk do it right. I got the minnies in cotton twill slimmed in the calves over the summer, bc of design changes that JC made. Just be sure to spend some time in front of a good mirror at home before hand pinpointing exactly where uoubwoul like the pants more tapered or slimmer... This is so that you can get the desired outcome from the tailor, who might otherwise have a completely different approach from yours while still ostensibly fixing the pants. HTH!

    2. Sorry about typos - I'm writing from my phone!

    3. I had my tailor alter two pairs of cafe capris that I got during the summer sales. He took in about an inch or more from the width of the leg on each - made a huge difference with the fit and the look. It's pretty straightforward and totally worth it.

  7. The sparkle row cami is marked down to $49.99 + the extra 25% off! Not many sizes left, but it's a beautiful top.

I reviewed this top here: http://erikamarieh.blogspot.com/

  8. Along with the update there were a lot of new promo-priced items added this morning. I also noticed some additional price cuts to items that have already been marked down previously. I've noted them all in the updated Women's list here.

  9. I got the Perfect shirt in Aegean plaid for $18 and I added McAlisters in navy to try and festival blue pencil skirt, nothing was final sale. Also, shopathome has 9% rebate today. I have reviewed the shirt HERE and I liked it a lot. I said I would consider in on sale but I never expected $15 (after rebate and rewards).

    1. Hi AJC. I wanted to ask, bc I know quite a few JCAs are fans.... Have you ever received a cheque from ShopatHome? I have yet to Receive a single cheque from them... So I've reverted to using ebates, which is more communicative and punctual with cheques. Just wondering; any input you can provide wd be great!

      Delete
    2. maqsad: I get a check every month. You need to go into your account page and make sure they have your correct address and info. It also lists your credits for each month and how much each check is. I just received October's check this week. SAH usually tops Ebates % back for J Crew and Nordstrom.

      Delete
    3. Yes, I have received checks from them. You get it about 2 months after purchase and only if you meet $20 minimum. Also, if somebody else takes out your mail, make sure you tell them when you expect it. My husband threw out my first check thinking it was a junk mail. I prefer ebates way of depositing into my Paypal account but shopathome usually has a higher cashback.

  10. Ah, another Liberty shirt on sale. French hen silk shirt marked down to $80; the additional percent off makes it about $60. And another color in the Collection Cashmere. I can't resist.

    1. Yes, I bit on the French Hen shirt and the new Liberty print on sale. Also, the Brompton Hobo (mini and baby) in green went on sale. I am working on a theory in comparing style guides from month to month and seeing what colors are no longer offered in items. I noticed that color was excluded from November, so hedged a bet it was going on sale. So I returned my original purchase of the Mini Brompton in that color in the hopes that it would be included in a sale. And it was so got a sweet deal.

  11. Does anyone know if the colorblock check mini is cheaper in store? It's 118 online. TIA!

  12. Anyone use shopathome for cashback? How long does it take to post?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I use it all the time since I do the majority of my shopping online. It posts very quickly and they will email you to confirm. In terms of receiving cashback, checks are issued on or around the last day of each month. The timeframe is such that if you make a purchase during the month of January, the cashback for that purchase would be mailed to you on March 31st to allow a period of time for returns, price adjustments, etc. I receive a check every month and think shopathome is the best thing since sliced bread.

      Delete
    2. Ah, that helps wrt my enquiry to AJC above. Thanks!

  13. Thanks Dara. I used them on Sunday but my cashback did not post even though the item shipped.

    1. I could never see my cash backs posting either so I stopped using and stick with ebates. I wish I could track purchases and cash backs bc I think shopathome runs higher percentages--- but I can't use if I can't tell I'm actually getting a cash back

      Delete
    2. It usually takes a week or two for my cash back to post but there is a way to see your trackbacks and cashback history to check. I have never had an issue with not being credited.

  15. I just received the Stadium-cloth mod coat on Monday and I am completely in love. I think it was an amazing score for what I paid ($174.99 - a final sale risk but worth it). The camel color is absolutely lovely and the coat is very warm and stylish. The cut is a bit boxier than it looks online which is usually a turnoff for me since I'm fairly straight-bodied, but I think in this case it hangs just right and the slightly boxier cut lends itself to the mod aesthetic. I also love the deep pockets! I feel this item would work well on a variety of body types. Highly recommended.

I'd also ordered the Collection leather-trim peacoat at full price and finally decided to return it over the weekend. It just wasn't worth the $425 price tag. The cut wasn't unflattering per se but it wasn't doing me any favors either, the look of it was frankly a bit drab whereas I had expected it to be really sharp-looking, and now as I'm mentally comparing it to the Stadium-cloth coat, it seems like half the coat for more than 2x the price.

All in all, I'm glad I tried the pricey coat and got the desire for it out of my system, and I'm even more glad I took a risk ordering the Stadium-cloth mod coat on final sale because it is a gem. Thanks to this coat, the Wintress puffer I decided to keep to replace one from several years back and the fact that I finally took last year's Flared perfect coat to a tailor to repair the seams which had come open, I will have quite a big bag of old JC coats to give to charity this winter!

    1. Would you say the Stadium-Cloth Mod Coat is TTS? I really want to try it, but the final sale is stopping me. I usually like a size 10 in J Crew coats, but the Duffel coat I tried recently was too big in the 10.

      Delete
    2. I took my normal 00 (no way to really size down) and the fit is perfect. However, since it is a little boxy, if you're concerned about it being too large, I would consider going down a size. My biggest recommendation is to reach out to customer service using the chat feature, explain your concern, and see if they will make a note on your order allowing you to return the coat if the sizing isn't right since you haven't had the opportunity to try it on before purchasing. In my experience, they're usually quite receptive to such concerns.

      Delete
    3. I tried it a while ago and find it big in my coat size (which is one sizeup from my regular size). I was actually a bit swimming in it, edpecially in the shoulders area where I usually need to size up. HTH!

      Delete
    4. Dara, thank you. I did call customer service and she was polite but completely not helpful.

Ema, thank you. My shoulders are why I usually need to size up a bit, so I'm not sure which size will be best.

Question for both of you: Is there any stretch in the material? thanks!

      Delete
    5. Never mind... I found a sales associate who said I could return (since I don't do it all the time) if it doesn't work out. Unfortunately, this took all day and now the smaller size is gone. But I'm glad I can return if the larger one doesn't work.

  16. Stopped in my store, and saw a few different markdowns. The jade Jules is $50 before discount. That's a steal, even though I know it doesn't work for a lot of you (I wear it as a tunic). The black and red are either $120 or 130. The jeweled sweatshirt is $70. Polka dot Naomi was $40. That's all off the top of my head that I can remember.

  20. Just got my box from Factory and wanted to post quick impressions in case anyone's ordering. Will post full reviews asap. The critter Charlies are really cute (puffin and scottie). Went with my normal size small. The plaid holiday pants are fabulous (very holiday) and lined in 100% acetate. The reindeer tee is great (I always size up in those). The one bad one of the bunch was the Chessboard plaid mini. It's definitely only 16" and waaaaay too short for me. Much thinner than I expected too.

    1. Looking forward to the reviews! I ordered several of the same items and they shipped today. I really hope all the items fit. I also ordered one size up a size in the tshirt.

    2. I remember somebody mentioning that the listed red price online was not exactly 30% off their full price for the critter charleys and one could get a price credit. But I think That's because there was a mistake in pricing. Online it is now $88 but few days ago it was $78. Although in stores the price is $78.. The 40% off everything in stores are over and they are only $10 off. The puffin sweater is already sold out. I'm annoyed at their pricing games!! Sorry should be in vent section!

  21. This is 100% off topic, but I still wanted to share. I posted a week ago that I had placed a factory order and after the fact got hit with a hefty duty (I'm in Canada). A JCA suggested calling in as she had to get it reimbursed. I did so and they have refunded my credit card the amount of the duty. They said that it was a problem that has been recently popping up in Canada and this is their policy for fixing it. Since they said it was recurring, I thought I'd pass along my experience and thank the JCA who suggested contacting them.

    1. teeny84, I received two UPS invoices in the past couple days for two Factory orders I placed through Factory First. I was really steamed and called JC Factory customer service to complain. Today I got an email from them telling me to disregard the UPS invoices, as they are working directly with UPS to resolve this issue. I hope this problem fixed soon! It is stressful for me and it is putting me off from making any other orders through their Factory site.

    2. I received the same email today re: my recent Factory order. Have yet to receive a UPS bill for this one, but I did receive a UPS bill for my retail order a few weeks ago. I paid it and J. Crew was happy to reimburse. What a pain, though. If I do get another invoice, I think I'll call UPS just to make sure. If the bill is directed to me, I don't want to disregard and risk a bad credit rating!

  22. Its always good to wait the sale out, since they reduce prices on sale items and update their sale section.

I am very happy that the Cafe Capri in all colors are on promo, I finally ordered navy, a staple color I can wear every fall season. I also had to REORDER the Lady Jacket in grey because it went down $20! I didn't make the 7 day price adjustment, now I have to return the one I currently have now.
Lastly, I ordered the Grand stone necklace. I can't wait to wear it with a grey turtleneck, grey lady jacket and my cafe capri jade jacquard! meow..

  27. Does Jcrew do a 7 day price adjustment on all items include sale items? I want to order a #2 wool skirt, but not sure if I should chanceit and wait for the price to do lower.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The website says this: J.Crew gladly honors a one-time price adjustment on full-price merchandise within seven days of the retail purchase or mail order ship date if accompanied by the original receipt. Items not purchased at full price are ineligible for price adjustments.

For this reason, I recently did quite a few returns and repurchases which I always feel guilty about but I had bought a number of items on promo that dropped by a significant amount a week or so later.

      Delete
    2. They only do a price adjustment on full price items. I found this out today when I tried to get an adjustment on my hacking jacket I bought last week. If it wasn't final sale, I'd bite the bullet, return and re-order, but that's not the case, so no adjustment for me.

      Delete
    3. Same thing happened with me. I got the hacking jacket and the no. 2 pencil skirt in festival blue and both went down in price. I called to try and get a price adjustment and they said no. I'd reorder and then return the items but the jacket is already out of my size. Ugh! Darn you Jcrew!

  28. I was just at my store and while they were not advertising it with signage, the cashier gave the woman in front of me 25% off her total purchase bc it was over $150. But good lord I am SO over the price inconsistencies! I was so happy to see the orange/navy striped painter boatneck tee and grabbed it, only to have it ring up FP at $45. WTF? It's $29.99 online! And the wool Jules dresses in my store were still $129. Had one been $49 I would have snapped it up. The colored denim toothpicks also are more $$$ in the store.

I was very aggravated and walked out.

    1. Elaine, all colors of the striped painter boat neck are marked $19.99 at the Michigan Avenue store in Chicago. The navy/orange rang up full price for some reason and the SA immediately corrected it to $19.99. Perhaps that color got "missed" when they entered the sale prices into their system?? This isn't the first time some things are not ringing up correctly and unfortunately it won't be the last.

  29. elaine -- That's so annoying. If you want to email me, I can give you my store that had the Jules at that price, and the striped painter tee at $20. Your store can call them to confirm and should match it. Or my store will ship to you. shopwithm7318 at gmail.

    1. hey jcrew guy in canada: have you tried the mens lambswool sweaters? do they feel ok? i am looking for a thicker knit sweater for a bday gift. the merino seems a little too "fine" and therefore less wearable for the recipient.

    2. Hey Hwin, actually I'm wearing one right now, a crewneck in a powdery chambray colour.

I find them fairly soft, not quite cashmere soft but nice enough to wear just with a tee underneath.

As to the thickness, they are just a little bit heavier than the merino; but by no means a real heavy weight.

If you're after something heavier and in lambswool try a mockneck or a 1/2 zip. Both of those are a heavier gauge.

    3. Thank you! I was eyeing the 1/2 zip. Glad to hear it is soft and not scratchy.

  31. Quick review: I just received the Copley Saddle Bag in the tan color. It's been backordered for a couple of months. Unfortunately, I don't care for it and it's going back. It looks cute on the model, but the strap is too short to comfortably wear it cross-body like that. Also it is very awkward. The big flap opens to reveal a main compartment that isn't open all the way. I don't know how to describe it, but the sides are closed and all you have is a hole in the middle to access your stuff. There is another small flap compartment underneath the main flap, nothing wrong with that. The whole bag is too wide and bulky and it sticks out too far on the hip, whether it's worn over the shoulder or cross-body. I guess I'm not that surprised, but the model looked cute with it and I was drinking the crewlade, so...

  32. I shopped the JCrew in Vancouver BC last weekend and the store is adorable, had the largest sale section I have ever seen, and the SAs all cheerfully announced the 25% off $150 promotion. Went to my local B&M today and yesterday and not a single SA mentioned the promo though they confirmed it when I asked. I was looking at something that cost over that amount and STILL the promo wasn't mentioned. Aside from the tons of merch thati s not makred with the proper sale prices WHAT IS UP WITH NOT MENTIONING THE PROMO? Or, you know, having signs? It is like they willfully do not want to sell goods.

Do they look cheap in person? Do they fit nicely?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I got the Factory Straight and Narrow Jeans in Ultra Dark wash and I love them. I feel that they are pretty good quality. Not premium jean quality but still substantial for what they are. Comparable to what Gap's "Premium" denim used to be. The pair that I got was 98% cotton and 2% spandex which I appreciate to hold in the curves. I'm not much of a stretch jean kind of person and my last premium pair had this same fabric ratio. I found them to be well stiched IMO.

The fit is pretty much TTS. The Straight and Narrow is the Factory version of Matchstick I guess though I find them to be a little wider at the bottom than the retail Matchsticks. They really are more straight than narrow IMO.

All in all, these are great everyday jeans. A good buy especially if you get them with a decent discount.
