J.Crew + Black Friday = 25% Off?

"Thanks!" to Lisa (in this post) who shared the following with us:
FYI -- J. Crew is doing 25% off everything for Black Friday. My SA told me this evening...
"Thanks!" to Sonia (on the JCA FB page) who shared the following with us:
I was in the store today and the sales lady said that thanksgiving sale will start on Wednesday! Sweaters won't be marked down any further than they are now but other stuff will be on sale. Enjoy :)

This would be a great offer for shoppers in stores. Especially since J.Crew needs to move some merchandise. (Every time I step into a J.Crew store, I am not seeing a lot of shoppers at the cash registers.)

On a related note, I am curious if J.Crew will be running a similar promotion online too. That would be great for me, as I have no interest in going anywhere near a mall or shopping center post-Thanksgiving. I know some shoppers love the thrill of finding that coveted item on super sale among the crowds. However, I am not one of them.

While we are talking Black Friday, J.Crew Factory sent an email today announcing prices will be up to 50% off. (It sounds like everything will be 50% off, but that is how they get you! Key phrase: "up to". Not sure how many items will really be priced at half off...) This offer runs from November 21st through the 25th in stores.

What are your thoughts on the promotion from J.Crew for Black Friday? Did you hear about the same promotion at your local store? Did you hear something different? If so, please share! :)

  1. Do you know if the 25% off applies to the Factory Stores?

    1. It will be great if Factory turns out to be 50%, but I'd go by the lingo in the advert. Factory will be "UP TO" 50% off.

    2. You are right Gigi, it won't be 50% off of everything... :-(

  3. I heard 25% off everything, November 21-25.

  4. I have a slightly off-topic question regarding 25% off promos--do they generally apply to items in the weddings and parties collection? i.e. bridesmaid dresses?

    1. AJL - Yes, the 25% promo should apply to bridal & bridal party :)

  5. I hope so!!! This would be fabulous. I have my eye on many things for myself, I mean my family. LOL.

  6. I was in my local store a few weeks ago looking for a men's item (which I didn't find) and the SA saw me and said "Well! Look who's here!". HA! I asked her if she thought I moved away or something! I haven't been overly excited about the last few rollouts and haven't bought anything. Anyway, she told me it had been very quite, like dead, no customers for weeks and weeks and asked if it had something to do with the elections. I said possibly, but in my mind I thought "hey, everyone knows you don't have to pay full price for anything and so if they will buy, it will be when the thing goes on sale". So....yes, I agree. I think the Crew needs to move some merchandise and a sale would be great! Now, if they would just make the kind of vest my husband wants.

  7. There are quite a few new additions to the sale section this morning, including several coats. Looks like a lot of it is final sale, though :(

  8. Do you think the 25% off will extend to jcrew.com? There's an online-only dress calling my name.

  9. Does anyone know if Madewell is doing a Black Friday sale of sorts?

    1. I wanna know too! I chatted with the online chat just now and the associate doesn't know if there are extra discount until the day of the sale. She did told me the store is going to open at 8AM

    2. If they do, I am going to have to re-purchase a lot of stuff...

  10. My bridesmaids all bought during a 25% off sale online and it did apply to the dresses online. Not sure if you could do it in-store though.

  11. Just out of curiosity, is JCrew Black Friday worth it? There's been quite a few 25% off promotions recently and I also wonder with JCrew if the price I'm getting is the best price!

    1. Typically they don't have special Black Friday deals, if this is what you are asking. And even if they decided to do a doorbuster promo this year, nobody would know because they won't put a sign and the SAs won't tell anybody, lol ;-).
The 25% off is as good as it gets (on full price items I mean). There could be a 30% off sitewide closer to Xmas like last year but no guarantee.

  12. The current JCrew FactoryOnline 30% promo ends today. Not sure if I should hold out for Black Friday sale. What do u guys think?

    1. I'm on the fence too about pulling the trigger on a factory order. I'm leaning toward waiting until tomorrow or just calling the store to do a charge send tomorrow. Any thoughts?

  13. OT, but an extra 25% off sale items on the Ralph Lauren site started today and is really worth a look. Judiciously. Free shipping, too. The extra 25 happens automatically in the checkout.

  14. My VPS told me it would be 30 percent off entire purchase for cardholders at the Retail Stores starting tomorrow through Sunday.

  15. kms423: You are right! For the FIRST TIME EVER there is a benefit to having a J Crew card :)

  16. Does anyone know how long J.Crew will hold items of clothing so that you can pick them up later? I am afraid that something I've been eyeing might be sold out before Friday, which is when I can actually head over to my nearest store.

    1. Generally only until the end of the day, in my experience. In fact, a SA actually SOLD an item I had put on hold just 40 minutes earlier. I was pissed.

    2. It is typically 24 hours (not end of day) which means that you put something on hold today it will be held until tomorrow at closing time. You can call the store tomorrow to extend the hold one more day so that it will be there for you on Friday. I never had a problem with things that I put on hold except for one time when I called to put on hold something and when I got there to pick up I realized that the SA had misunderstood and put on hold something else.

  17. 25% off on Black Friday just won't get me out of bed and into a B&M. Or even awake to peruse the website bright and early, for that matter. Bump that discount up out of the range that we are used to seeing anyway (read: minimum 40%) and I'd camp out at the mall. Otherwise, I can't be bothered.

    1. Yes. Even a 30% on FP items would be nice!

  18. Do you think it will be 25% off the your total or 25% off each item? I think you save more if it's off the total.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There's no difference.

      If you buy 3 items ($5, $10, $15) and take 25% off the total, it's $22.50. If you buy them separately and take 25% off the total, it's $3.75 + $7.50 + $11.25 = $22.50.

  19. My SA's email this morning said 25% off in stores and online starting Wednesday, 30% if you use your J Crew card.

    1. Hopefully the 30% off with the JCCC applies to online orders as well, since we can't use the card in Canadian stores yet.

    2. Good to know that the promo will be online as well. I just don't see myself going to the B&M this week.

    3. The 25% promo is up. COLOR25 gets 25% off. No mention of 30% for cardholders. Maybe they're saving that for Fri...?

    4. Sweaters still marked 25% off but not obvious. Made order with extra 25% off of that. Score!

    5. My vps thought 30 percent off for card holders was in store only. And no stacking of the teacher discount.

  20. Will this sale ever go over 25% off? Or is it 25% flat through the 21st to the 25th?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The only thing that could change is the shipping. Sometimes they lower the free shipping minimum during a promo.
I will also add that Cyber Monday is typically disappointing (like free shipping on any order)

  21. I tell you this J Crew sale watching and price comparison could be a full time job...wait I have one already. I am definately not heading to a B&M on Friday but not sure if I should pull the trigger on 2 Tippi cardigans or wait. I think I will go ahead since it is 25% off and free shipping and then see what Wednesday onwards brings..thoughts???

    1. I'd go ahead and do it. Worse comes to worse, you return the Tippis and repurchase them, assuming you have a B&M store near you.

  22. I have a code take 20% off of $125 and $30% off of $200 for jcrewfactory.com or stores - valid until 11/21/12 (not sure you can use it in stores once I have the card). In case anyone is interested email me:villasba@rcn.com, I will pass it over for the first email request :o) Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  23. The cardholder 30% promo is live! CARDMEMBER gets 30% off your purchase.
