JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Awesome customer service helped me with price adjustments on orders placed right before the 30% promo! I'm loving this promo, too, good job J. Crew!

  2. As silly as it sounds, but I'm always looking for new ideas for skirt/leg wear/shoe combinations. My most recent skirt acquisitions are the mini felted wool in white and sterling skirt in crimson.... But I have tons of skirts so any new ideas are welcomed.

And happy turkey day everyone! :)

    1. I am really loving booties, tights, and skirts/dresses together. I specifically love wedge booties because they are comfortable but flattering. Here's a polyvore outfit here: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=63973959

I would layer the cardigan on top of the untucked shirt and place the belt on top of everything around my waist to give a nice shape. I think your felted wool skirt sounds dressier but you could have a variation of this outfit with fancier pieces (i.e. not a plaid button down but a nice blouse)<3

  3. OT- I am still waiting for my e-mail about the 30% off for cardholders promo . My online PS says it only applies to regular priced items. Is this true?

    1. Rose, the code is "cardmember" and it works on sale and regular items.

  4. I am planning to wear the J Crew Peplum dress in black to an upcoming cocktail party and am trying to decide what necklace would look the best? Any suggestions would be appreciated...I tend to look best in gold over silver.

    1. I'd go with a longer necklace as opposed to one that follows the neckline. Not sure what necklaces you have.

  5. Not many so I may purchase one.

  6. I styled some J. Crew Factory items here: stethoscopes, style, & grace

I'm wearing the merino classic crewneck pullover in flame (aka the Factory version of the Tippi) and the Factory multistrand pearl necklace. I'm also wearing the J. Crew chambray popover in cabo blue (I missed out on this last summer and was so glad they brought it back, I really have been wearing it with everything!)

  7. To button or not to button? Cardigans that is..Do you buy a cardigan to fit will buttoned up or just leave it open if it fits everywhere but is a tad snug through the midriff?

    1. MJ - I usually wear cardigans unbuttoned, so I buy the size that looks best when it's unbuttoned. Some of the ones I had wouldn't button if I tried and that's fine with me. If your sweater is only a little tight, you can grab the shoulder and hem and pull them forward on each side to close. That usually works to get just enough stretch out of it. I'm thinking of cotton, though, not any synthetic fibers.

    2. I prefer buttoned. At least buttoning the middle few buttons. I don't like the way cardigans hang, generally, when unbuttoned.

I have a smaller bust, though, so I don't usually encounter this problem, but if you still like your cardigans, don't get rid of them! If you prefer buttoned, just purchase cardigans in the future that will fit that way.

  8. THanks GiGi- I am just trying to decide if I need to keep all the cardigans I have collected throughout the years. They still look good and never really go out of style but some of them seem to have shrunk (lol!) in my closet over the summer. I need to try them on and see what still looks good.
