This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of the "secret sales", the additional 30%-40% off final sale items (percentage ranges from store to store), or to see some November arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
There were a lot of the A-Line Tafetta skirts at the Scottsdale Kierland store and 30% off sale price. I was suprised to see that new of an item.
ReplyDeleteIt's already been posted, but red phone will get you 30% off the sale price (online price) for coats (at least in the Austin store). Got my Madeline at a huge discount.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen a sketchbook roses skirt, size 4 in your stores? I saw it is on sale but would like to take advantage of the in-store extra percentage. Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteKate - try the Michigan Ave store in Chicago. I was there a couple of days ago and they had a lot of sketchbook roses skirts in various sizes, with the extra 30% off. 312-751-2739
ReplyDeletehas anyone every been able to finagle getting the teacher or student discount on j crew bridesmaid dresses on the red phone or over the phone in general? i know its a long shot, but hey, i've gotta try anyway, right?
ReplyDeletethe red phone will get you 30% off the sale price? meaning if the carrie coat is on sale for 225, it will be an extra 30? is this a secret sale that you have to ask for?
ReplyDeleteKate, I got one on sale with the in-store percentage from the Palo Alto store. Someone here gave me that info!! They had tons of sizes when I called Thursday. Their number is 650 462 1190. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteanon 9:08 - I am not sure about secret sale, but I read about it on here on the the outerwear post and then it worked for me today on the red phone.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees the crosshatch print schoolgirl skirt (the one that is yellow and white) in their store with the extra percent off, let me know (mrsnonia@aol.com please since I can only see the blog when I'm home).
ReplyDeleteKate, by the way, the Palo Alto store had the sketchbook roses 40% off. Some stores are doing 30, some 40.
i'm sorry, i just want to clarify
ReplyDeleteSo the carrie coat was 225- 30%?
so it was 157 plus tax? because i just drove two hours to the king of prussia jcrew and bought the jacket (and in pa there is no sales tax). but i paid 227.5. They did 30% off of the 325. i'm a little upset i drove all that way and then paid 70 dollars more. i really think they should be more consistent with their prices. does anyone think i will have a chance of getting an adjustment if i call CS? i mean it is still 225 on the internet right? anyone know why it's only a discount on a red phone?
Re: the coat. I don't know how it is supposed to be working, but it seems that calling from a red phone is getting you the 30% off promotion that is in the stores for "wool outerwear" but it is off the already discounted internet price, so my Madeline came to about 150ish. Don't know if it is a mistake on their part or not, but sounds like a few of us have got it so far.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to King of Prussia this weekend, both the outlet and the mall. Will let y'all know if I see anything good.
ReplyDelete(I am a regular poster, but to protect my local b&m I am posting anonymously.) I was in the store last night and the manager was planning out their holiday layout. She let me look through the book. The next collection is going to be beautiful. Simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA lot of ivory, camel and nude tones and that beautiful spearmint green. More layering inexpensive tees with sweaters. Silk, matte sequins, lace, more ruffles and flowers. And.....Vanessa is back! The cover features Vanessa and two other models laying on the grass under and red and black tartan blanket.
Lots of smiling pretty models. I really can't wait!
I stopped by my local store tonight (Towson, MD). I picked up a pair of hipslung jeans and two toned patent flats (silver and dark grey) that were on FS with an extra 40% off. I also got a cable knit sweater which was on promotion for 59.50.
ReplyDeleteThe sale section was pretty well picked over. Although they did have some bootcut cords and a lot of the Watson pants (which I love!)
OT- The patent flats, which just recently went on sale online seem to have disappeared! Are they sold out? I don't know the name- but these were the ones with multi colors for 109.99. I think one of the color combos was cream, blue and red. Was I just too late?
This happened to me, too, with the Madeline coat. I got to the register and the coat rang up $208 instead of $298. Then, it was an additional 30% off. I couldn't believe the savings and discount. I ended up spending less than half the price of the coat.
ReplyDeleteOHH, i can't wait for the new stuff to come out!
ReplyDeletewhen is the new holiday stuff coming out?
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm looking for two Astrids: the reddish one with the liberty fabric pocket accents and the blue berry trimmed one, size 12 or 14. Also looking for the patent leather serengeti ballet flats that are on sale in size 11. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think that the Berry Astrid's might be on sale- I saw the Charcoal one in the sale section for $179 +30% for those that might be looking...
ReplyDeleteTwiga
Has anyone ordered the Lucinda Coat? I know it is crazy, but I am thinking about the Citron color. I am SO tired of my black and brown coats....
ReplyDeleteTwiga
I'm definitely waiting for the next arrivals before I shop again. Nothing really interests me right now.
ReplyDeleteI am new to the J Crew blog and I have a question...what is a B&M? I have tried to figure this out and I can't! Thank you and please forgive me!
ReplyDeleteBrick & Morter
ReplyDeleteB&M stands for Brick and Mortar, it just means an actual store.
ReplyDeleteB&M...brick and mortar! I get it! Thank you so much! It makes perfect sense!
ReplyDeleteAny idea when the new holiday items will come out?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the sketchbook roses info - I will be calling first thing tomorrow morning. Can anyone provide any types on the fit of the sketchbook skirt? I have the solid belle skirt but I think I read the sketchbook runs a little smaller? Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 10:09 p.m. - Is the new catalogue shot on location anywhere? Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeletejbird - i know which ones your talking about (i think it was called the penelope flat - and the color is canyon)! in fact if you need a size 8 in that color let me know! i called to get a pair and they said they were all sold out and then one magically appeared at my b&m, i bought them but dont think i really need them and haven't worn them let. kredmann@gmail.com
ReplyDeletekate: Try the Pentagon City store (703) 414 3720. I saw a number of sketchbook roses skirts there yesterday, not sure of the sizes though. No harm in trying! :)
ReplyDeleteKate-
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the offer, but I really need a 8.5. I so wish the 8's would fit! Which B&M do you shop at? Maybe I could give them a call. And yes, it is the Penelope flat.
-JBIRD
Sob!! With no store around me I can't get the deals that you are getting with the coats! I have the tulip coat in my cart right now but with the Cdn dollar so low right now the sale price online isn't much of a sale........
ReplyDeleteLinda
Anonymous @ 11:08p - I haven't tried the Lucinda, however, I am very interested in the citron color in general. I am wondering if it is more yellow, as it appears on the website, or more green, as it appears in the catalog (p.65 for the Madeline). Someone said that the swatch in the catalog is the most accurate in gauging the color.
ReplyDeleteI reviewed a few more items on my blog. I will probably add some non-J Crew items, so look to the right at the list for Crew items you may be interested in.
Just got back from my local b&m - I brought in a print out of the Madeline coat and asked them to match the online price of $248 plus the in store 30% and the SA said "OK!" I was so tempted to order it in another color from the red phone but held back.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that this worked because the Madeline coat is not actually part of the 30% off online promo (It is however marked down by $50). But in the store it is 30% off. So you can combine the two promos to get the lower price.
Thanks to those who mentioned this in previous posts!!!
P.S. Congrats to the person who got the Madeline for $208 plus 30% off! That's an awesome deal!!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees the cashmere flora dress in grey, size med could you let me know? I would be eternally grateful :) acornn74@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteEugh, I'm so jealous. :( I want to get two coats online, but as someone else said, with the exchange on the Canadian dollar right now, it's not worth it. I wish I lived closer to a store so I could get an additional 30% off. *sigh*
ReplyDeletemarta - have you tried calling CS to see if they will match it for you? I know they've been cracking down on that but you might get a nice person on the phone... I think it's worth a shot.
ReplyDeleteDo any of the stores have thinsulate lined coats?
ReplyDeleteIf not, I will pass on trying the stores for a deal...a simple wool coat is just not warm enough...esp. a wool dress coat b/c my other layers are not heavy usually...
This month's Shape magazine (Faith Hill on the cover) features a JCrew "Resin and 18k gold-pleated metal" necklace but it's not available online or in stores.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this is some sort of a preview?
Has anyone gotten this 30% off deal on the Lady Day? I would like one with thinsulate and $50 savings is minimal after tax. (And, well, if I can use a coupon.) It's an .com only item in the description. Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteIf I can use a coupon for free shipping, that is.
ReplyDeleteI was in the Orlando store on Wednesday and the sale section had Ecoles, lots of tanks/tees, some Belle Skirts, Watson Pants, L/S Silky Jersey Tops, Sweet Potato Herringbone Pants, and Herringbone Fiona Jackets...all at extra 30% off.
ReplyDeleteThe New Arrivals are due to be in stores around November 15th (per one of the managers at my B&M). Love the description of the new catalog, too! :)
jbird - tysons corner. but i also saw some at reston early this past week, you might want to try them too!
ReplyDeleteRockaway NJ has 40% but the sale merchandise is slightly older. Short Hills NJ has 30%, but the sale merchandise is much more recent--scored a tartine cardigan in black yesterday for 40.00!
ReplyDeleteOT - I'm watching Today right now, and some woman doing this denim thing is wearing a Victoria ruffle cami in navy, I think. Or something very similar.
ReplyDeleteI'm also interested in the tulip coat, but haven't even tried it on ~ the Walnut creek store doesn't have it. They had the blue astrid jacket in size 6 really cheap, and the red jacket w/ print fabric swatch pockets on sale too, but only in a size 6, which is my size, but, not what I am looking for right now.
ReplyDeleteGigiofca-
ReplyDeleteOk good to hear that I am not the only one that thinks this coat looks interesting. Checked out your Blog- like it a lot!
Twiga
Gigiofca and Twiga, regarding the citron color: I ordered the Madeline coat in citron even though I loved the red in the store - because of the way the citron color appeared in the catalog. However, it is the lighter, more yellowish-green in person. It resembles the color of a tennis ball. It is still very pretty, but I think I will end up exchanging for the red after all as I was hoping the citron would be brighter.
ReplyDeleteI have followed this wonderful blog for several weeks now but this is my first time posting. Does anyone live in CT? I am wondering if anyone shops at the New Haven store.
ReplyDeleteI was in the b&m store closest to me yesterday. They had several new cardigans, scarves and outerwear. The sale stuff was the same stuff as the last month or so. All in all the new stuff was pretty but nothing I was flipping out over!
ReplyDeleteI am brand new to j.crew, and our new store opened in San Antonio last week. While I was checking into them online, I found a coupon that was good on purchases over $150 - but now I can't find it. It was store specific. Any ideas where to look?
ReplyDeleteAlso, What does the red phone mean?
Thanks
Julie- Eeek a tennis ball? Hmmm. Now I may have to go back to my boring Camel coat that I was considering... Has anyone ordered the Dana Coat?
ReplyDeleteTwiga
RCLK code has expired even if you call CS they will not give it to you.
ReplyDeleteTwiga, I reviewed the Dana coat a few weeks back - if you search "Dana" at the top of the blog it should come up. :)
ReplyDeleteMr. Drexler: If you'are reading, please, please, please give us 40% and 50% off online. Those of us who live far from stores (a ten-hour flight, in my case) are begging! Please.
ReplyDelete(Sorry, for the desperate tone, fellow Aficionadas. I am going crazy reading your posts. I have not tried begging in a public forum. Maybe this will make J.Crew execs change their minds.)
Why should they honor an expired code? That doesn't make sense. They set expiration dates for a reason.
ReplyDeleteRE: OUTERWEAR I just received an e-mail from a CS that stated if I could tell them at what store the additional 30% was applied to the already reduced 30% off outerwear sale, he may be able to offer me the same great deal. This is important to me b/c the closest B&M is pretty far. Anyone willing to tell specifically which store?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - Lissa
Thanks Silver Lining:)
ReplyDeleteTwiga
Twiga,
ReplyDeleteWell, perhaps a muted, older tennis ball :) IMO the color on the website is closer to the real thing than what is in the catalog. Funny, I was wanting it to be brighter - just because it would be so unique! I already have several black coats so am trying to branch out a bit. Anyway, hope this has helped!
vivi,
ReplyDeleteNever seen 40% off online--at least in 7 years...stores yes, online no......but there have been 30% off a few times...maybe with the poor economy we might see that eventually say after Christmas...but now??? hmmm....
I would love to have a new winter coat and get the great deals you guys have gotten....wow...incredible!
Lissa - I got my Madeline deal through Pentagon City, Arlington. I commented in the outerwear sale post that I called from the red phone and they gave me 30% off the sale price. I only ordered it online to get a petite and Thinsulate version.
ReplyDeleteBut those of you who asked about stores that may be willing to either give you the discount off sale or authorize a phone discount: try calling Pentagon City. They actually had a nice selection of Madelines, Tulips, Lille, Carrie, a charcoal Lucinda, Felicia, and the classic peacoat. At least they did on Wednesday when I went... They might even have what you need right in the store and could ship it directly to you with the discount.
Anon 11:38, the RCLK code never had an expiration, so it was logical to continue to ask for it. Apparently J. Crew has now decided to expire it.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much la petite - I'll share with everyone what I learn regarding the additional 30% from CS.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of coupon codes - I was pretty disappointed that the JUSTASK free shipping code has expired (originally, it was to last forever).
-Lissa
Also, I wanted to say that I got my Bright Berry Madeline with Thinsulate yesterday. Here's what I think of it:
ReplyDeleteThe bright berry color is pretty and definitely fun. It's essentially the color that appears online. The petite size made a whole lotta difference. The store manager told me that this coat is supposed to be a shorter style than the Tulip, so if you're 5' 4" or under, I recommend getting the petite. Otherwise, it will cover your knees (unless that's what you're looking for).
This was my first time getting a double cloth coat, and also my first time getting Thinsulate. I had hesitated with double cloth in the past because I thought it was thin. I have to say that I'm not sure how well this double cloth coat will hold up in the winter, even with the Thinsulate. The double cloth material by itself is pretty thin. I thought the Thinsulate lining would make it more of a winter coat. I don't think it really will. I was expecting the Thinsulate to be a little thicker (yeah, I realize now why it's called Thinsulate!) as well as to line the sleeves. Unfortunately, the sleeves do not get lined with Thinsulate which makes them extremely thin - no thicker than a wool suit jacket. When I compared the Thinsulate-lined main body of the Madeline with my wool-cashmere Dani from last year, it was still thinner.
I don't think the double cloth - even with Thinsulate - would cut it in a cold climate. It's not going to keep me warm in freezing temperatures or when a cold wind blows. I think I will only wear it when the temperature stays above 40 degrees, which will most likely be a lot of days in the late fall and early spring in my area. Maybe on winter days that are mild it will work too. It will make a pretty spring coat, especially in this color. But the wool/cashmere coat (last year's anyway) is definitely thicker and warmer.
Twiga - thanks :-)
ReplyDeleteJulie - Thanks for posting about the citron color. That is not the color I was hoping for. I wanted it to be more green. That's too bad.
Warning on the Isabella and Gayle patent leather heels -- you may have to buy a half-size to a full size up. I always wear a size 9 in J. Crew shoes (heels, ballet flats, fluffy slippers, boots, and wellies), but there was absolutely no way I could wear the size 9 Isabella and Gayle heels I received last week. They felt more like size 8 heels.
ReplyDeleteNewly opened Freehold store has a secret sale on cashmere tees. Its down from $145 to $99.
ReplyDeleteanon 11:38: I only posted to inform people that it had expired, since we did not know what the expiry date was, some people were still getting it by calling in their orders.
ReplyDeleteHi fellow Aficionadas - this is slightly OT, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I have a Sketchbook Roses Belle skirt, size 2, that I am putting up for sale. I bought it on an impulse and wore it out to dinner once, but the fabric is just not warm enough for the impending Boston weather. :(
ReplyDeleteIt's new without tags, and I'll part with it for $65 including shipping. (I bought it for $60 in-store, so I just want to break even.) I'll probably post this again on the Weekly Exchange, but more likely than not I will also have this skirt on ebay, so I wanted to let you know first. :)
-Anna / palindrome592@gmail.com
So if I am understanding this correctly I may be able to get the Carrie coat for 225 + 30 % off by calling from a red phone? Did anyone
ReplyDelete*Impending Boston weather should read impending Boston cold. I guess I need more coffee...
ReplyDeleteAnon@12:17, what are you talking about? They have had 40% off online multiple times in the last few years. And it used to be automatic, so you could get free shipping too. Those were the days...
ReplyDeleteAdditional 30% off sale section at Tyson's Corner store, and not too picked-over yet.
ReplyDeleteStill NEVER have seen 40% off and I check the website daily for 2 years now....
ReplyDeleteHi gals, this is OT, but can anyone tell me how the cashmere crewneck T's are fitting this year? I think I remember reading on another post that they were running big. I'm between sizes and would like to order one online. Thanks for the help!
ReplyDeleteok, I broke down & bought a shirt. LOL
ReplyDeleteSorry that you missed the extra 40% off sales. Rare occurrence, but they did happen. - AR
ReplyDeleteare the double serge pencil skirts still available in BLUE anywhere? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI just called Pentagon City and they would not honor the 30% above the 30% promotion.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteanon @ 4:55 - That sucks to hear! I had the manager at Pentagon City speak to CS when I placed my order on the red phone. Maybe a manager has to do it? I don't know how mine and some other peoples' worked out, but it sounds like a few people are able to get the 30% off sale price. Maybe you do have to go into the store and call the red phone, then ask the manager? The manager is really cool and knows me, so she always looks out for me, but I ultimately got the discount from CS on the phone with the manager's permission. Maybe you could try going into a store (don't know if you have one) and talking to the manager before calling CS. I hope you can get it somehow!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know the style number of the strapless jersey dress/long skirt from the summer line? If I remember correctly it is the same knit jersey fabric and colors offered (standard 6/7 colors) as the Lisa dress (style number 94459). The SAs were marketing it as a strapless dress that you could wear many ways (dress, skirt, etc.). It popped up in the sale category a few weeks ago (in loads of sizes and colors), but I haven't seen it since and hoping it's one of the "hidden" items that are difficult to find on the site. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteit's called the sanur dress, and they're long gone! :( it's the 3 in 1 dress that was sold during the summertime...
ReplyDeleteI did some shopping on behalf of one of my clients this weekend. I did pick up one little item for myself -- the perfect fit metallic twinkle tank in heather caramel (item 99831). The website pictures do not do this top justice. It has beautiful vertical lines of metallic sparklies and matches many of the cardigans. A mannequin in the Rockefeller Center store had one with a lea cardigan over it and one with a chiffon florette cardigan over it.
ReplyDeleteroxy,
ReplyDeletei have been thinking of getting that tank but I tend to have problems with metallic threads being itchy and/or irritating my sensitive skin...how is this one?
the metallic is actually screen printed on the tank...it's such a cute piece to layer with! it would add a dash of fun to a boring suit or cardigan without it looking like you're wearing glitter. i love the camel color and can't wait to pick it up next time i'm in the store :)
ReplyDeleteanon@7:05, it's not itchy at all. It's made out of a similar material to their perfect tees. It's pretty soft. That it is screen printed makes sense, thanks for the clarification lindsay!
ReplyDeleteRe: Carrie Coat. I went to my local BM (Providence Place) today and tried to order both the Carrie Coat and the Authentic Pea with Thinsulate. I was expecting to get the 30% off for the wool outerwear sale with the additional 15% student discount. I placed my order from the red phone and CS DID NOT allow me to get the 30% off the Carrie or the Authentic Pea. The only discount I was able to get was my 15% so I scrapped the order. I can understand them not tacking the extra 30% off on the Carrie, but why not on the Pea?? I don't get it...
ReplyDeleteIf anyone had better luck with the Carrie, I am dying to know how you did it!
For those who have seen Belle skirts in their stores, what colors, price, and do you remember seeing any sz 4s? tx!
ReplyDeleteI believe that the 30% off outerwear only applies to certain coats if you check online. The peacoat isn't one of the coats that has the extra 30% off.
ReplyDeleteOn Friday in the Cincinnati J.Crew sales associates were passing out small cards soliciting email addresses in return for 10% off. I didn't tell them J.Crew had had my email address for years... While I was there I checked out the city tee cardigans. The largest size I saw in any of the three varieties (only two are available online) was a medium. Love the blog-- keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteLaura: I just bought the Buttercup Belle at my store in Orlando on Wednesday, and I know they had several size 4's...Buttercup, Rhubarb, and Deep Atlantic. Priced @ $29.99 + 30% extra off. 407-226-9732...GOOD LUCK! :)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy local B&M store offers 30% off.
ReplyDeleteTafetta A-line skirt: 69.99 (framingo, campagne, warm taupe)
Ombré washed-wool scarf: 27.99 (selected colors: yellow, green, light blue)
Tartine cardigan: 48.99 (maize, white, light pewter, bright rhubarb, deep persimmon)Featherweight merino glass-button cardigan: 48.99 (purple, maize, almost every colors)
and lots of T-shirts and cashmere sweaters.
I could combine 30% off + 10% off coupon card {yey!}
I tried to use RCLK for a red phone order, but a red phone CS told me RCLK expired:(
ReplyDeleteInstead, a store rep helped me to apply 10% off coupon on a red phone order (Thank you Sherri!)
To La Petite Crew:
ReplyDeleteThe Double Cloth Thinsulate coats definitely are warm enough for the winter. I was a reporter in Syracuse an stood outside for Live reports in the dead of Upstate NY winter at 7am (15 degrees uhhh!) I wore that coat all the time and never froze. I had a sweater and cami under it and was perfectly fine. Of course warm socks and a scarf help but the coat is definitely warm enough without the ugly bulk! Keep the coat. The Double Cloths are gorgeous!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteanon @ 8:11 - I got the Carrie for $225, then 15% off for the teacher's discount. It ended up being $191, but then shipping added it up to $207. I used the red phone and a sales associate helped out.
ReplyDeletere: this yrs cashmere t sizing. the long sleeve tees are true to size
ReplyDeleteThanks FFM, I will probably call tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteNaomi, where the Tafetta A-line skirts 69.99 including the 30% off, or is that in addition? I saw the pink and warm taupe at my B&M on Friday for 99.99. I was gonna wait for more of a sale, but maybe I should go ahead and get them...
Oh, also has anyone seen the denim pencil skirt in a B&M? I have watching it since it came out and it's finally on sale, but still not enough for me to want to buy it...
ReplyDeletei purchased the denim pencil skirt and it looked terrible on me. i am not small and typically wear straight or a-line skirts but this skirt was SO gorgeous that i ordered it online just to try. The material is a really awesome dark indigo and not too thin. It does cling though, and the suction around my butt was NOT the look i was going for but the waist was lovely. if you are thin enough and typically can wear slim pencils you should definitely get it! the skirt seems very wearable with so many different styles all year round...a great basic for your closet!
ReplyDeleteLaura;
ReplyDeleteIt is the Carmel CA store (tel:831 624 2803). The price is $99.99 ($69.99 with additional 30% off). They had several sizes in warm taupe, warm champagne, and light flamingo (pink) although aqua and olive was not available. Hope this helps!
It's a sad statement that I'd rather drive a full hour to the Valley Fair or Stanford store than minutes to the Carmel store. The staff is soo incredibly snooty and not helpful, not to mention that it's tiny
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about the gayle shoes, but wasn't sure how well the gold links will hold up over time
ReplyDeleteLaura: I have a size 4 Denim Straight (Pencil) Skirt listed on the Exchange if you are interested...I just added it yesterday, and will list it again tomorrow on this week's exchange. My email is:
ReplyDeleteFabulousFloridaMommy@cfl.rr.com.
Does anyone know how much the Lacquered Crackle Jacket will be?
ReplyDelete(it's currently on pre-order... one of the collection items)
Can someone tell me if they think i'm being a little paranoid, or if i really should spend 20 min and call CS and check...
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered the cascading flower jacket when i was in the store on friday... i placed an order on the red phone and then mentioned i wanted to pre-order the cascading flower jacket. Do you think this really went through, or do you have to call the special number to pre-order? now that i think about it, i read only special occasions was handeling the pre-orders for this jacket? all i can think about is FFM pre-ordering her Maggie the first time and then CS having no record of it! Does anyone know if there is a way to check if you're on the pre-order list?
I visited both the outlet and B&M this weekend in King of Prussia and they had some AMAZING deals.
ReplyDelete1. The outlet stores had cashmere long sleeve tees (identical to the one I bought online weeks ago) on promo for 30% off. About half of the colors from the normal store. The SA told me that the KoP was trying to clear out their stock so they could have holiday stock, which is why they had them. Unless you are a large, you won't have trouble finding your size, as they had tons of everything else.
2. I've heard some people discuss the quality of the fabrics in outlets v. B&M and I wasn't always convinced (e.g. my perfect tees from the outlet have held up and cannot be distinguished from my perfect tees I got at the regular store) but the outlet had "cambridge cables" (less cashmere than the real ones) on special for $59. But because I'm a smart Afcionada and did my homework, I knew not be tempted by what I thought was a good deal, I waited until I got the B&M and got an additional 15% off (student discount) for the cambridge cables there.
3. The outlet had a lot of deep discounts, all in the 30-40% range. I didn't look around much (was in a hurry to get to the big store) but they had some nice pieces hidden in among the less nice stuff.
4. In general, the KoP store did not have much. The saleslady told me they were rolling out their holiday stuff early (this Monday!) so they had to sell everything else more quickly. I got the sherpa hoodie on promo for $40, the high heel jeans on promo for $20 off, the velvet ecole jacket for $98 (the SA had to order it on the red phone, but they honored the store's discount price, and I got free shipping), the cashmere sweaters were promo-ed for $99, all outerwear an additional 30% off, and vintage bootcut cords were 30% off.
5. I bought a few more cardigans I have not seen online anywhere. I double checked this morning, and I don't know what their name might be. It was very similar to the cashmere boyfriend cardigan, but it had the craziest cool buttons!! These might have been part of the new holiday stuff, there was a lot of the spearmint green color.
Hope this helps you ladies!
Thanks everyone for your help, I got my Sketchbook Roses from Palo Alto with the 40% - so excited!!

ReplyDeleteI got that tank and it is AWESOME! IT is thicker than the perfect fit and softer--a great basic piece that works under anything iand so worth paying the full price (for a perfect tank;) They also show it under the Cascading Floral Boucle Astrid in the collection-so fab, so basic!
Anon 8:51 I did the same thing, ordered it immediately upon seeing it on the website but had no item number or anything. Then I started hearing talk of people discussing size running small and I kinda felt like you wondering if they even had that order anywhere (they say it's avail Nov 6 and that's only a few days away) so I called back and they dug up the order. I also added a second size just to compare. They measured it for me and the measurements sound small! Keep this in mind when ordering, this jacket sounds very small.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone purchased or tried on the Jane crackle-metallic ballet flats?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if they run TTS.
Yes, I ordered up a size in the cascading flowers astrid. I have two other astrids and used those measurement to compare it to. I have size 10 in the berry and ruffle Astrids and got a 12 in the C.F. Astrid.
ReplyDeleteWas also informed on Friday that Nov. 6 is just a tentative date...not for sure. Rep put me on hold and check the delivery info. on the jacket.
P.S. I would not go to the trouble of ordering two sizes in the C. F. Astrid and messing with a return. I just ask for measurements of the past jackets I have from JCrew (via email or phone)that fit and then ask for the measurements of the jacket I am interested in and decide on size that way. I hate returns!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 5:22p - I am looking at a receipt and the it says the following:
ReplyDeleteSansur Dress GY6085
099101383102
I assume the style number is somewhere within that 12 digit sku. You can also search eBay for it, but of the few listing I've seen most did not mention Sansur in the title. So if you really take some time, you might find one. I am hoping they bring this dress back for spring. I love it.
Thanks for your help, you all! By reading this blog, I knew to go to my Orland Park, Ill., BM store to order a petite Madeline coat with Thinsulate. Using the red phone, I got it for $199 and some change and wasn't charged for shipping! I had two gift cards totaling $125, so I spent about $80 on the coat! I am so thrilled, particularly because I'm kinda broke but always need new coats. I'm a newspaper reporter, and always outside. Additionally, like someone else who posted, I wear double cloth coats in winter -- and I live right outside of Chicago. With the Thinsulate, a heavy scarf and gloves, they do keep me warm. And I'm always cold. Stewart
ReplyDeleteI bought the the Dream Silvie dress for $50 at my local B&M yesterday. It rung up as Star Stella dress. Does anyone know why?
ReplyDeleteKate and others: Sorry, my mistake - I had posted earlier that the sketchbook roses skirt was on sale at Pioneer Place in Portland, OR, but it was the other rose skirt shown here...apologies - I don't know my skirts from Adam!

Lindsay and Roxie,
ReplyDeleteI went ahead just now and ordered both colors in the tank. (I like that it is screen printed so I hope I am safe with the sensitive skin/itch factor). I have never spent that much on a tank top in my life! I usually try to get bargain prices for my layering pieces but I live overseas for a few months and hubby will be in the US next week and can bring me back my tanks (shipped to a friends house).
Anon @12:08
ReplyDeleteThe B&M have entirely different names for most of their store stock than the website. I'm not sure as to reason why.
Anon @12:08 - I wonder if JC was going to start calling their "Dream" yarn "Star" yarn? If you look in the November catalog the Dream Stephanie and Dream Tie cardigans are listed as the Star Stephanie and Star Tie. Looks like it didn't quite catch on...
ReplyDeleteanon @1:01: great you got your tanks!! i don't know if these will even go on sale...everyone at my store was asking for them and the SA's kept running in the back to get everyone's different sizes. holiday parties will be starting in about 2 weeks and these are some great pieces to have for all of those occasions. you will definitely be fine with the itchiness...in fact you will be pleasantly surprised at how soft and thick they are IRL. congrats!
ReplyDeleteboston had extra 30% off final sale. some fiona and velvet (ecole?) jackets, taffeta skirts, lots of $10 grosgrain belts. lots of matchstick and vintage cords for $39.99 on sale in loud colors. saw only 1 tartine cardigan, but there was lots of argyle and a few taffeta-tie dream sweaters.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the charcoal or purple Berry Astrid jackets on sale?
ReplyDeleteOT: I have a NWT Rose Abstract print dress in size 2 if anyone has been looking for one. I'm probably going to list in on Ebay unless someone wants to buy it direct. I LOVE this dress but I bought it a couple weeks before I found out I was pregnant and I live nowhere near a store!
ReplyDeletelaurenhiggs @ gmail.com
ceecee,
ReplyDeleteIt is my understanding that the purple is online only.
I own the purple one and it is just a gorgeous shade:) To die for:)
not to start anything at all...but michelle obama was wearing that yellow cardigan she wore on leno again!! how funny :) she is wearing it with bright blue jeans. does this cardi come in other colors? it's very cute!
ReplyDeleteHmmm....can't decide between the Charcoal Berry Astrid, Purple Berry Astrid OR the Cascading Flower new jacket(much more $$)
ReplyDeleteRosie - did the Boston store have the black/grey/white dream argyle cardigan? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeletecovert5 and anon@1:02 -- great purchases! Just let me know what day you're wearing them so we don't all show up in the same top! ;)
ReplyDeleteOT and FYI: I got the heather gray merino tank with the three roses on the front and a small was too big.(I'm usually a small in tops/shirts) I went to my B&M to exchange for an x small, but when I tried it on it was also too big. I figured out that its the length of the shoulder straps. The scoop of the tank falls too low on me and I don't have a desire to show that much cleavage!! Don't know if anyone else has had this issue. Otherwise, I thought it was really cute.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone bought the Stadium Cloth Lucinda coat? Is it tts or does it run big?
ReplyDeleteGigiofca and Anonymous @ 5:22- J.Crew doesn't put style numbers into their sku numbers.
ReplyDeleteThe style number for the Sanur dress is: 91099. They appear to have some available on-line, but they show up at full price. It's an awesome dress to have, good luck! Here's a link to it (it shows up as men's?): http://www.jcrew.com/browse/single_product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441768124&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302024332&bmUID=1225670547420
The sketchbook roses belle skirt was $99.99 at the Short Hills Mall b&m in NJ, plus an additional 30%. They also had A-line taffetas on sale for the same price.
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for other belles, the Rockaway Townsquare had them, definitely in the blue (and I think red but I could be dreaming) for $29.99 plus an additional 40% off.
Good luck!
Has anyone, ANYWHERE seen the double serge pencil skirt in the bronze ochre color, on sale???? I have been lusting over it,but it has yet to be on any sale. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteceecee - I haven't seen the charcoal berry astrid on sale. I think I've only seen the bright blue on FS in b&m.
ReplyDeletecrewbie - I saw that merino rose tank in the store and it looked huge. I haven't tired it on but agree that it has a very low scoop.
crewbie and gigi
ReplyDeleteI have this problem with many of their scoop designed tops--something is up with the fit/fit model sizing for ex. Whisper lamé Zoey tank, quincy flame/florentine print top, and when I tried on this merino top--all dip way too low and I think they need to make a pattern with at least 1 to 1-1/2 inch shorter shoulder/strap. They all need to be taken up (which means their fit model/therefore patterns for this type of top) is taller than the average gal. I find it's a problem and I hope they are reading;)
^BTW-I am 5-7", have broad shoulders and a bust;) I had to finally size down to 0 in zoey layme tank and it is still big/low in that respect.
ReplyDeleteanon at 1:15 and silver lining:
ReplyDeleteThanks for answering my question!
Checked out another B&M in my area today (SF) and the selection wasn't great. Lots of wellies for 19.99, some cashmere, astrids in camel and sweet potato. Sherpa Hoodies were on promo for $49.50. Is that everywhere? I thought that was a good deal.
kate -- boston (copley) did not have many black-and-white argyle cardigans. in any case, i am sure they did not have XS and at most had 2-3 total.
ReplyDeletei should also mention boston had a lot of abstract roses and sketchbook roses skirts.
Hi! Don't know how many others out of state have tried to buy from the Rockaway store. Twice now I've been told I may not buy sale items and have them shipped. The first time I was told it was their store policy not to ship sale items (mind you, I had no problem paying for shipping). Then recently I was told that if I wanted to buy sale items I would not be allowed to use the 30% discount they are currently offering on all their sale items. I asked why and was told their store is a consolidation store (i.e., they receive sale items from other stores), thus their 30% promo would only be honored if I came to their store. I asked if this was different from a retail store. The woman said they are a retail J Crew store. I then stated I've purchased sale items from other stores for years and have never had an issue like this. Whether I was a phone customer or in-person shopper I was charged the same price for the item. In all the years I have shopped at J.Crew, (98% of my clothing, shoes and bags are J.CREW--hubby rolls his eyes when UPS delivers the JCrew boxes), I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS ORDERING SALE ITEMS AND A STORE HONORING THEIR PROMOTIONS. It's so ridiculous. All the other stores have the same promo. This is the only store where this issue has arisen. Anyway, I was stunned that this store would charge a phone customer a higher price, I scrapped my order so they lost out on several hundred dollars worth of merchandise. I think I'm burning out on J Crew. I still have open waitlisted orders from 2+ months ago for full retail items, not sale. After the internet debacle and multiple orders cancelled, lost or sent with errors, I'm seriously thinking about canceling my J Crew card and giving BR, Talbots, Coach and Nordstrom a chance. Has this happened to anyone else shopping the Rockaway store? I tend to have better luck with the east coast stores when I'm looking for items. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteTo Hannah, Gigiofca, and Anon (@7:05 Nov 2) - thank you so much! It is the Sanur dress I'm looking for. :) Odd that it's back up to full price (it showed up on sale for like $39 a few weeks ago). I'll watch it like a hawk now, and see if it drops. Interesting note on the dress being classified in the Men's section - I've seen this on a few other items too ... pretty frustrating that JCrew can't figure out how to categorize items online properly. I agree w/ someone who posted earlier that although the number of sale items looks pretty weak online - if you dig or do general "tank" "dress" etc. searches, many more sale results come up. Thanks again for your help - I really didn't think I'd get a response, and I'm so grateful you guys cared enough to reply!
ReplyDeletePS - You can usually find style numbers on the actual JCrew clothing at the bottom of the "care for/washing instructions" tag.
A quick question about sizing-
ReplyDeleteIs there a large difference between tall and regular?
I just ordered the Authentic Pea in Plum in a size Tall Small. I typically take a S/XS in the Peas, but need the plum ASAP and cannot wait for the delayed shipment. How large do you think the difference in sizing would be? Also, is it a difference a visit to the tailor could easily fix?
Thank you!!
The tall vs. regular difference in tops/jackets, I've noted, is in sleeves and the body. I don't know how much longer-- maybe an inch or two, maximum? The size itself is not bigger... for example, if you are not a petite but you order a petite, J. Crew recommends to size up one; however, I wouldn't size down if you were a regular and are now buying a tall. I would think a tailor could take up the sleeves easily; the body on a jacket, I'm not so sure about.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps!
