As Anonymous at 8:20PM and Marietta mentioned (in this post), J.Crew is hosting a private preview of the Holiday Collection with Jenna Lyons at the J.Crew Collection Store (NYC) on November 11.
"Thanks!" to Marietta who shared with us that the "invitation is simple, but really classy.... it's on thick bound ivory paper".
If any Aficionadas (or Aficionados) are attending this invite-only event, please do share with us! We would love to hear more about it. :)
i'm a cardmember and live 2 blocks away from the store and didn't get an invite. do you have to be a silver card holder? i would love to rsvp...i think i might call and ask if i can go :)
ReplyDeleteconsidering how small the collection store is, i doubt they can fit that many people. i'm sure they also didn't want this to get out to the general public.
ReplyDeleteGosh...y'all are soo lucky to live close to a collection store. Lindsay, I'm a card member too but I didn't get an invite.
ReplyDeleteI think they're for those who have the 'silver' ones and if you did get an invite...maybe stock owners of jcrew too!
Like anon 4:43 stated, I'm sure only certain people were invited hoping to spending some serious $$$$ that night too in the collection store.
It does say in the invite "for our top cardmembers."
ReplyDeleteOoh, it sounds like a very cool event for a select few. I'm envious of anyone who got an invite. Congrats on the special event.
ReplyDeletehow much do you need to spend on your card to become silver? i just recently opened one and have been spending a lot...just curious bc i know banana is very clear what makes you luxe or not ($800)...which for some reason i feel it's easier to be luxe than silver bc i am not silver yet haha. i've shopped out this collection anyway and wouldn't buy the new holiday stuff unless i had a coupon or something fabulous was in the collection. judging by this past rollout, they better bring out the big guns bc i was not impressed. their highlight items were just basics from other seasons ie tissue turtleneck/matchstick cords. i am hoping to see some really unique and not extremely overpriced pieces. good news though...i guess the holiday rollout is around nov 11th! i am sure the other stores will debut theirs the following week. happy halloween everyone!
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a private invitation that shouldn't be published on a blog....I'll be surprised if JCrew don't ask Alexis to kindly remove this post :)
ReplyDeleteHAPPY HALLOWEEN
How fun for those who got an invitation! Can't wait to hear what happens...please report back with plenty of details, and also on what Jenna wears. :)
ReplyDeleteI forget exactly how much you had to spend on your regular card to get the silver card, but I want to say it was something like $3000 as of a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I can't wait to hear from those who attend the event! I always swing by the MIchigan Ave store for wine and cheese night -- I'd love to attend something like this!
ReplyDeleteI have a silver card but did not get the invite...I would say you probably have to have a silver card AND spend A LOT of $$$ My guess (and it is a total guess would be $10,000+ in a year's time????
ReplyDeleteI think it should be removed as well, it is an invitation only event. I live in NYC and am a silver cardholder but I have not received an invite! At least not yet.... :(
ReplyDeleteI would say this should NOT be posted either....let's learn from the "necklace" incident!
ReplyDeletei can't wait to hear all the details...i love events like this at saks, banana and other stores :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a silver card holder, whatever that means, and I did not get an invite. Who cares? I spend too much $$$$ there already and need to STOP!!!! :0)
ReplyDeleteI am a silver card member. I believe that you do have to spend at least $3,000 to get upgraded. I also got the necklace and card from Mickey Drexler a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI called the store and will be attending this event.
In all fairness, this event was mentioned in another post already. Also, the email to RSVP isn't on there.
ReplyDeleteSo some of us will wake up Nov. 11 and know it's the symbolic day that 90 years ago marked the end of World War I, which saw some eight million die, and some can sit at J.Crew...
ReplyDeletewhat necklace and card?
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago, J.Crew sent out necklaces to their valued J.Crew credit card holders. A note from Mickey Drexler accompanied it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why this should be taken down. It's just news. People should know not To go when they're not invited. Besides, if those people do insist to go, we'll get a funny story out of it . . .
ReplyDeleteI have a silver card and there's no way I've spent $10,000 in one year at JCrew, I'd have to put it closer to $2500 to $3000 annually. I remember it just came in the mail one day, with a form letter containing very little detail. One of the things it did mention was that my credit limit was increased tenfold, to an amount which I've never seen any other store or department store credit card limit. Judging by the amount, I'd say they also take the customer's credit score into consideration. With that said, I haven't seen much of a benefit since I've been upgraded.
ReplyDeleteI am a silver card holder and I spend about $800-$1,100 a month....no invite but I wouldn't have been able to go anyway b/c I live in the U.K.
ReplyDeleteAll that aside, what I meant by the $10,000 a year comment is that I bet it is even MORE annually than that...double or triple to get an invite!
Congrats to all going:)
Y'all got an invite to go --sooo lucky(!) have fun for all of us and pretty pleease spill all the details!! We looove to hear it! =)

I have the silver card, but I don't think I spent anywhere close to $3000 by the time I received it in the mail. In fact, I got it only a few months after opening my account.
ReplyDeleteI've been a J. Crew silver card holder for a couple of years and there have been no real benefits. The perks are nothing compared to those that come with BR Luxe or Gap Silver cards.
ReplyDeleteIMHO, posting the invite is totally different than posting the note that accompanied the necklace, and as someone else noted, the RSVP information has not been posted. J.Crew marketing should be thankful that so many of us will be eager to read the report of someone who does get to attend!
How fabulous for those who are invited! I can't wait to hear about the new collection!
ReplyDeleteSince when are private invitations "news". Geez. There is a difference between mass emails sent out and actual private invitations sent in the mail. Wow.
