J.Crew's Handbag Shop {do you love?}

"Bravo" to J.Crew! I just love the design for J.Crew's online bag store called the "Handbag Shop" (click here). The Handbag Shop allows customers to view bags through an assortment of categories (featured bags, shapes, fabrications, all bags). Moreover, customers can easily scroll to view multiple bags upon a category selection.

Ultimately, I think J.Crew has done a wonderful job creating a "mini-website" within their regular website. The Handbag Shop has a "high-end" feel which matches well with their high-end bags. :)

What do you think of J.Crew's Handbag Shop? Do you like or dislike the design? Do you think the Handbag Shop is comparable to other designer handbag's websites (e.g. Coach)?

  1. I think jc needs to come up with better stuff to hold our attention. Shuffling around the same ol', same ol' isn't innovative. A new website for handbags just doesn't cut it in my book!

  2. While I like the look of J.Crew's handbags, they are unlined and they lack interior pockets. The pockets are just essential anymore, and the lack of lining leaves these bags dangling several levels below bags in a similar price range, such as Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Michael Kors, Longchamps. I bought the Uptown Bag in Cherry Guava, and I love the look of it and am complimented on it almost daily. However, the inside is a wreck, and I bemoan my decision to buy it each time I have to dig for my keys. If J.Crew would just take that next step to line their bags and give them some organizing pockets, they'd have a better line.

  3. I like the look of them, definitely, but am not keen on the price. I was flirting with the idea of buying the Quincy bag when I saw it on sale the other day, but after I checked it out, it was not well-made enough to justify the price, even on sale (I think it was $199 less 20%). I could find a nicer bag at TJ Maxx or Marshall's at a similar price point.

Again, if JCrew wants its customer base to change (ie, have more money) then more than just prices are going to have to change. Quality is, too--right now, it's mid-market brand quality that is being provided for higher and higher prices.

  4. I am not impressed. I don't care for JCrew's handbags and they are way over priced for what you get.... I would not buy one no matter how much one went on sale.... I can buy beautifully lined bags of higher quality leather for the same price elsewhere. I have to have pockets and a beautiful lining....it just makes sense!

  5. OT: Regarding EDUCATOR/STUDENT DISCOUNT I received this email from a JCrew employee:

We were able to review the current way promotions are supposed to be
applied, since you have received correspondence from us containing
conflicting information. We are able to provide the following
    information:

Promotional coupons are not combinable with any other discount. If,
however, the coupon discount already on your order amounted to less than
15%, we would be happy to apply an adjustment of the difference to raise
the overall savings to the 15% level you expect as a student/teacher. If
a currently used promotion amounts to a value greater than that which
you would receive using your 15% discount, it is to your advantage to
keep the current promotion rather than replace it with the 15% standing
    discount.

We sincerely apologize that this information conflicts with recent
information sent to you. We appreciate your business and certainly
understand your concerns with not being able to combine coupons and have
noted this as we appreciate your feedback and it is possible in the
    future that this could change.

  6. I do like the design of several J.Crew Handbags, but would not pay full price for them...they would have to be on super sale for me to consider a purchase. The handbags seem to have the same issue as the shoes...they look great, but that's about it. I personally think that for the amount of money J.Crew asks for both the handbags and shoes...looking great simply isn't enough.

  7. Hearing the news about the stock markets worldwide, my desire to buy any overpriced item diminishes. I need to see major markdowns/promotions to buy.

  10. i agree with everyone here. i haven't bought any jcrew bags because i'm afraid they'll be just as disappointing as the shoes. they look nice in my closet, but every time i wear them i'm wishing i hadn't spent so much. being able to quickly grab keys, cell phone, and work badge is sooooo important to me. my two main bags are from BR and they have small pockets on the outside that are perfect for me. so, jcrew, please do something like this. and line your bags!

    ReplyDelete
  11. FSW and others: It is so true that interior lining/pockets are essential to ANY well made bag. Could you even imagine LV, Chanel, Chloe or others leaving their bags unlined and without at the very least an interior cell and key pocket? Yes, J Crew bags are beautiful, but that is where it ends. Therefore, they can jazz up their "handbag shop" all they want but until their bags are properly made they are a leave it for me.

  12. A bit off topic - has anyone seen the boucle mohair jacket in person? I'm thinking of getting it in the orange, but like everything else in orange from J. Crew, I'm worried that it's a bit garish. I'm looking for something muted. I'm going on vacation to Paris this winter and want a more chic winter jacket... and I just love the cut on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  13. fashionista social worker-- I too have the Uptown bag and agree that a nice lining is needed but I think that given it is open on top-- that the look would be ruined.... I have the Las Palmas bag and the Owen hobo-- both are beautifully lined. I will admit that I bought the Owen full price (I had been dying for a horn handled bag-- and the price point was lower then those I had seen)...and I got the Las Palmas for $99.00..... I know that I sound like a broken record to this point, but given J.Crew using Borge Garveri leather--- and they also supply leather to Hermes, I do believe you are getting a good deal.

    ReplyDelete
  14. kelly: the Lucille in Orange is not nearly as neon-ish as the photo on the web depicts. It's more muted and beautiful. I'll still throw this out there though...on my trip to Paris (it was April) I noticed there weren't many people wearing much color for outerwear. I wore an Ivory trench and it was so chic. It was neutral but still seemed to stand out. (granted it was on the bring of spring time) Ultimately, I'd say go with your gut and stay true to your own personal style. Otherwise, you won't feel comfortable...and that's never in fashion! :) HTH!

Regarding the handbags, I would never pay that much for a JC bag. Instead, I'd throw in the extra one or two hundred for an LV or Prada and have a bag that I know will last forever and has all the functionality I'd expect at that price point.

  15. Sorry for OT: J.Crew adds new stuff to final sales, price is not attractive though. I wish we had a additional 20% off coupon...

    Exciting!

  17. I have a handful of tweed handbags from J.Crew that I love, they look like straight out of Chanel. They do have an interior pocket.

I've never looked at the leather ones - but wow, I can't imagine why J.Crew didn't spring for lining or pockets. That's just essential. I don't want to have to dig for my keys or my blackberry or my lipstick, for that matter.

Most of my leather handbags are Coach. I still think they make the best classic leather handbags, and the quality is impeccable. I'm not big on the logo bags, though.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Weab - Thanks! I really wish the boucle jacket came in black or charcoal... the cut is just so cute but I'm not really an orange person, much less a mustard yellow one. Hm. I guess I'll just keep looking... I've got a couple months to find one!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Kelly, I totally agree. I wish the Lucille boucle came in violet and azalea, as well as some neutrals. I'm not into orange much, nor mustard yellow. I don't know why J.Crew only picked those two colors - I don't think they complement a great many people's coloring.

  20. Does anyone have the Andrea in Rhubarb? I got it in Honey Glaze, but it is so pretty that I was thinking about getting the Rhubarb as well. What about the Cooper jacket in Rhubarb? Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

weab: Do you have the Simone in navy (I remember that someone does, but wasn't sure if it was you or not). How does it fit? TTS?

    ReplyDelete
  21. jcrewjunkie: I don't have the simone...I wish I did though ;) I did try it on and found it tts.

Also, I don't have the rhubarb Andrea but have seen it. It's so pretty! The color is very saturated/deep...very true to the web photo. About the Cooper, I know FFM has it in Khaki and loves hers.

    ReplyDelete
  22. weab: I have it in the British Khaki (thanks to FFM...lol) and it is awesome! The Simone is on sale so I was wondering if it would be something that I would like or not...and since we do seem to have the same taste in clothing I thought that you might know aobut it!! :) I was also wondering about the Dream Open cardi. Do you have it? How does it fit? I am just so confused by J Crew's sizing anymore. Thanks for all your help which I REALLY appreciate! :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. jcrewjunkie! I hadn't realized the Simone was on sale until after you mentioned it! YAY! It is so much cuter IRL than the web shows! I think it looks so frumpy the way they styled it. But it's very chic IRL!

The dream open cardi is pretty tts. However, if you're in between or in doubt, you could size down easily I'm sure.

  24. At this point, I think the only unlined bags are the uptown totes and the oslos. Those seem to be unlined as a styling decision. A lining is not the only demarcation of quality in a handbag. Leather, stitch size, fishishing on edges. All of those are beautifully worked on a J Crew bag. Same goes for the opera length gloves. Lining leather can cover a multiture of sins in construction and leather quality.

Website wise, I don't really think J Crew has enough product to do a "handbag shop". Seems silly to me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. New sale items on the website and older items marked down further...I think we are going to see some big sales in the next few months...maybe not a lot of merchandise maybe but what is left will have some nice sale prices on it...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nicole, while I appreciate your insight about the leather, it does not make up for the fact, in my opinion, that the J.Crew bags which are unlined are "unfinished" and simply not up to par. I would gladly pay a bit more for a nice lining - how much does a yard of poly lining cost? I have several open-top bags with lining - it just begins a few inches down from the top of the bag so as not to interfere with the "line" of the top of the bag.

(Nicole, I do not mean this toward you individually or personally, so I hope you will not take it as such.) Am I the only one who is noticing an obvious uptick in commenters' responding defensively and being very quick and eager to counter any criticism of J.Crew items? I appreciate differences of opinion, but I find these constant counterarguments to be, for lack of a better word, disingenuous. More than a few of these comments have the tone of readers with personal, vested interests in quashing negative feedback rather than in furthering the dialogue.

Lest we forget, most of us are reading and commenting here because we love J.Crew's line. However, no line is perfect, and when J.Crew misses the target, we need to let them know. I for one have received a personal phone call in response to feedback I sent back with an item I returned, and I was thanked and encouraged to continue giving this honest feedback.

Just a thought. Maybe I need more coffee. Or less.

  28. LOVE my rhubarb cooper jacket!

    ReplyDelete
  29. FSM, I can see your point. However, it often seems that people on this blog think all J Crew products should work for them. If you like a lined handbag, then the Uptown tote isn't for you. J. Crew did not necessarily miss the mark. Seeing that it comes back year after year, maybe there are fans. I think the defensiveness comes maybe not from protecting J Crew per se, but from protecting themselves if it was a product they liked. This blog can sound pretty harsh when everyone gets going. Differing opinions are regularly questioned, especially if they are left by anonymous.

  30. covert5: THANKS for your opinion. I think that I am going to get it since I love my British Khaki one sooooo much! :)

  31. Would it kill them to have a black handbag?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't have any of J Crew's leather handbags, but I have the Somerset tote in red from last year. It has cotton twill lining and 3 pockets, one of which that zips. So far I have not had any problems with the bag.

In looking at their website just now I noticed that all of the bags, with the exception of the Uptowns and the Oslos, have some sort of lining. Also, according to the item descriptions, all of the bags have some sort of pocket. Is it that in the past some of the bags have been unlined and lacked pockets?

I don't particularly care for the handbags currently offered at J Crew, nor would I spend so much money on a bag that might go out of style rather quickly. I'd rather invest in a classic bag that will serve me for several years. They also don't offer that much of a variety in handbag styles.

That said, I think J Crew will probably branch out even more into high-end handbags, and at that point having an already functioning Handbag Shop website will be beneficial.

  33. My b&m doesn't carry any leather bags in the store - but I've always been curious.... after reading some less-than-amazing reviews here, I'm not that interested anymore (for the price ;) I can buy a lined purse with convenient inside and external pockets at Target (I love Target!) for like $30 ... maybe not leather, and yes, not EXACTLY the same style of J Crew, but honestly, pretty close!! I love J Crew, but I think I'll just stick with their apparel for now!

  34. Kelly-check out the Tahari Mimi peacoat at nordstrom.com. It has the same collar, gogeous neutral colors, and is about 200.00. I found the Lucille orange to be too bright for my taste.

  35. I actually recently splurged and bought the Jaime bag in Cloud. This is the most expensive bag I've ever bought, but it was so worth it. I had been looking for the perfect grey bag, and I found it in the Jaime. I couldn't believe I actually paid full price! The quality in the bag is great: it has a good lining with 2 interior pockets, 1 zippered. I do prefer outer pockets for easy access, but that wouldn't work for this bag b/c of the way the leather is folded/pleated on the outside.

I have to say that within the 1st week, though, the bag must have rubbed against my dark (JCrew) jeans and had some smudging, but I was able to get it out with some leather cream cleaner. And I didn't freak out b/c the bag will "weather" over the long run, so I see it as part of the ageing process.

So, overall, I'm really happy with the purchase of my first expensive handbag.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am personally not a big fan of JC bags, I think the quality is sorely lacking, not to mention they are overpriced. I am a huge fan of Coach bags, and think they are worth every penny. I bought the Patent Large Zoe, and I am totally in love with it. Not only is it lined in a beautiful plum fabric, but it has two interior zip pockets (one on each side), and three cellphone/multifunction pockets, which I find are essential to keeping your bag organized. I don't think I would purchase a JC bag, even it was seriously discounted.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ugh, sorry - too many typos! jenn-brak and nicole, I completely agree - my opinion is mine alone, and I would never presume that everyone would feel the same about the lining. (However, most of the people who have commented on the bag have mentioned the lack of lining.) Obviously, it did not keep me from buying the bag! Honestly, the lack of lining is not my big complaint - the lining is only anciallry to the real issue - the big, wide open bag with no means of organizing or securing my belongings inside (except for one pocket that is so small I can't even fit my Palm Centro, a small bottle of Tylenol and a lipstick inside of it at the same time.) This glaring oversight (yes, glaring, in my opinion) would definitely keep me from purchasing another of these bags. In fact, I'd love to sell this one and put the money towards a more useful bag for myself. (Anyone interested? It's very gently used and unblemished.)

  39. I think the new handbag website is fine, great, wonderful, whatever...BUT how LUDICROUS that they expect someone to pay upwards of $400-$500 for a bag where they DON'T EVEN SHOW YOU the lining, interior, pockets!! J Crew--what are you thinking?? I don't think a written description does the job for those who are seriously considering shelling out the money for these lovely bags.

I happen to LOVE a few of the bags they have out right now and will buy them if they go on sale. (I did just buy the Quincy hobo in fact, so i will give a review when I get it--should be today!) I have the Las Palmas which is a beautiful leather, lined, has a zipper pocket and cell pockets etc. Makes me wonder, are all of you commenting from firsthand experience of a bag that has no lining or perhaps you have seen pics of the unlined leather totes (uptown etc.). Obviously some of you bucked up only to find no pockets,no lining--that's disgraceful and I can see why you are dissatisfied. Hard for me to believe the new bags (Jamie, Quincy, Oslo-those that have been featured this Fall) don't have lining and pockets inside. The BIG QUESTION here is--WHO WOULD ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE INSIDE! Take a hint here J Crew show people the inside of the bags--even the uber-wealthy clientele that you are targeting these days might be more willing to throw their money at a bag they could actually SEE inside! Try adding that to your new website:)

On the topic of handbags--check out Rebecca Minkoff--she's the handbag genius these days and her stuff is TDF--that's a bag I will (and have) shelled out $500-$600 for:) She is gaining a cult following..check her out ladies. She's a super gal with the most amazing leathers and styles--you would LOVE the morning after mini! (aka MAM)

  40. There are new things in the sale section - peacoats in a few colors for $99, Andrea jacket $159 and Metallic Clea in the green color for $159 to name a couple. Are the B&Ms still having an additional % off sale?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I agree w/jennbrak that going against a popular sentiment about a particular item (Bella!) here is not easy to do and easily causes defensiveness. I also agree w/FSW that some of the heated exchanges occur because of 'personal, vested interest' - which I interpreted as people taking things personally. I will add that *I* think some of the strong feelings arise because J Crew has been in the middle of a product and identity change for the past couple of years. There are loyal customers who have shopped the brand for 10, 15 years. If that were me, I would wonder what the heck is going on with a $500 unlined bag! Of course I should not take personal the things J Crew chooses to do as a corporation. However, I can see how some are quite huffy about the higher price points and corresponding quality. Items are being examined with much greater scrutiny now that some of the average price points have doubled and tripled. The fact that J Crew uses the same factories as so-and-so doesn't really sway me. As FSW said, if I am going to be impressed that something comes from Prada comes from a particular factory then I would just buy Prada. I'm not here to get anyone worked up. Just pointing out J Crew has been in a major upheaval and it hasn't been subtle. People are unhappy about that and wondering if they are being priced out of the brand. Is this life threatening? Of course not. For me, I really appreciate the look of the clothing and the fit. I can find a few pieces from other places, but J Crew is currently making an underserved buying population very happy. It's sad to see them going after women in income brackets that already have a multitude of options.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Funny--those must be last years peacoats--the white has lighter buttons (I actually LOVE the lighter buttons myself) but no white in small:( Great price!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. FSW, which color is it? I might be interested. I already have the metallic silver from last year that I love. The floppiness is great for my lifestyle, and I carry very few things. That could be one of the reasons the lack of interior organization does not bother me. Also, the new metallic Uptown for this year is lined, but I think that mught be because that metallic fishish requires a stiffer bag to stay nice.

  45. I like several of the JCrew handbags--love the frankie in guave rhubarb. However, I am brand loyal to kate spade that it would take a really good deal or falling in love with a bag to switch. I would not pay $400 plus for a JCrew bag when I can get kate spade for less.

I also wish that JCrew would update its handbag shop to show all the bags on models or mannequins(similar to what other online retailers like Zappos do). I think right now, only some of the bags are modeled. It is really hard to tell how big the bag is. In the catalog, sometimes the model blocks the view of the bag too.

I think that JCrew is certainly doing a better job than BR in the bag department. Their prices are far more ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  46. While I do love some of the JC handbag styles (Anya and Jamie come to mind), I still don't think that the full-priced items are comparable to other emerging leather companies, but it does round out the lifestyle they put forth. One has to remember that leather factories that provide the goods for high-end designers also have tiers of leather quality. A Marc by Marc Jacobs bag is not designed with the exact same leather as a Marc Jacobs collection piece.

For those who are tired of the "bottomless pit" effect of some of the JC bags, there are companies like purse-to-go, purseket, and chameleon inserts which make organizing inserts to go into these types of bucket/tote bags. You can either google them or find them on "evil"bay...

  47. GIGI-
    great points made

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree with ss...if JC showed more modeling shots or the interior of the bag, that would be helpful.

I was going to say that although BR starts with their bag prices high, through coupons (like the 20% off when filling out a survey), promotions, etc., you can easily get a good BR bag for 40% off...and their leather is pretty decent too...

  49. I have the uptown tote from a year and a half ago, in a gold with a "cedar" interior. I love it and get lots of compliments. It has a zipped interior pocket which makes it feel semi-secure, though I have to put a little security chain on my cell phone and ipod pouches so they don't just fall out or get easily picked out. I also have the zebra straw tote. It has an interior pocket, but it's not zipped, so it feels pretty insecure. Lots of compliments, though. a fun bag for summer. Is it just me, or have the prices gone up?

  50. La Belle Helene - That surprises me, as I would not take the frumpy and old fashioned comment as obnoxious at all. I would just think that the jacket appeared frumpy and old-fashioned to that person. Those seem like great descriptive words that provoke an immediate image.

    ReplyDelete
  51. jcrewjunkie - I have the Andrea in rhubarb and it's gorgeous! I got it at the end of July because I was sure they'd run out. I'm actually surprised to see so many left in so many sizes and on sale. I definitely recommend it - especially for this price!

If you're petite, I do recommend buying the petite version. The only thing is, it's a cropped jacket, no matter which version you get. And it has the open back pleat which makes it a little swingier in the back. Definitely not a straight shape. But if you want a jacket that's unique and beautifully designed, I highly recommend it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Covert5: agree with everything you said! Other bags I like, besides RM, for me: Belen Echandia, Hayden Harnett (Awesome, almost quarterly sales), Botkier, Gryson, Kooba (though not recently), Gustto, Tulah Ray

Less expensive, but still fun: Linea Pelle, Tano, Ignes, Junior Drake

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't know how describing something as frumpy can be considered a complement, and by association, it's thus a commentary on anyone who does like the particular item.

    ReplyDelete
  54. OH YES--SS--another good point I meant to make! MODEL THE BAGS, SHOW US INSIDE, LININGS, POCKETS ETC. Thanks J Crew--we know you are listening:)

audball--love the purse to go and have it in 3 sizes--organizes great, it's a must and makes changing bags a snap! I have chameleon and it's good too more pockets but not as stiff.

Last--I would not take anyone's opinion of a jacket personal. We all have different tastes and some are more quick to spew theirs out without thinking of anyone's personal feelings getting hurt. It happens all the time on blogs and some people don't use much discretion that others might LOVE the item and therefore it puts someone down. I often think ewww, but i don't get on here and say it unless the majority are on board with that thought (ie. the death jacket).
The key is ignoring those people (ANONS) that come on JUST to offer nasty responses for the sole purpose of seeing who they can get worked up-IGNORE THOSE and things should go well:)

  58. I didn't say it was a compliment, just not an insult either. Why would it matter if someone found the item frumpy as long as you feel fabulous when you put it on? Blogging is about sharing both popular and unpopular opinions. As long as people are commenting on an item and not a person, I find it hard to take offense.

  64. Frumpy, from dictionary.com

    1. A girl or woman regarded as dull, plain, or unfashionable.
    2. A person regarded as colorless and primly sedate.

    ReplyDelete
  65. As far as the J.Crew bag designs, they are really elegant and a little unique. I often find myself just on the verge of buying each new one that comes out. Then, I go into the store and look at them (or similar models in other colors) and they never quite measure up in some way.

I'm a huge fan of Coach bags and have been buying them forever. I also own Cole Haan bags as well as shoes, which are fantastic quality. I can't say enough about Cole Haan shoes in particular. Between the exceptional quality and the Nike Air in many of the dress shoes, they are the winner hands down. The prices are similar to J.Crew's, and just like J.Crew has sales, so does Cole Haan (and they're not final sales so I can still return stuff). Plus, Cole Haan has been offering a lot of 20% off coupons lately.

Coach and Cole Haan both make very practical stylish bags with lots of pockets. I personally don't care as much about linings as I do about pockets. My life requires pockets, the more the better. So the lack of pockets has become a make or break decision for me.

Banana Republic makes less expensive, elegant leather bags for less. I also prefer a lot of their costume jewelry because it's priced more accordingly to what costume jewelry should cost.

Although I adore J.Crew clothes and coats, at this time, I can't justify buying a bag that isn't going to be practical. I'm fully willing to pay $500 for a bag -- I just need it to be practical as well as beautiful.

By the way, J.Crew isn't the only one who uses high end leather manufacturers like Borge Garvieri to make their handbags. Coach has worked with European leather houses to tan and maufacture some of their handbags, and to this day Coach only uses the top 10% of leather in manufacturing.

  66. 3PP - thank you for your comment and recommendations for bags. I also have bought primarily Coach bags, and I am just now looking at Cole Haan as well (in fact, I have both their websites open in other tabs, going back and forth comparing bags.) I agree - if given the choice between a lining and pockets, I'd choose pockets! The Cole Haan 20% off coupon expires October 9, so I am under the gun to find a replacement bag for the Uptown Tote. Suggestions?

    Thanks for your insights!

  67. Just got the QUINCY HOBO in yellow.

    REVIEW:

LOVE the beautiful shade of yellow--like saffron or deep marigolds-very pretty pop of color.
The leather is stiffer than it appears--i guess I thought it looked like the fabu super soft quilting of chanel leather but it will suffice as it is nice enoough for the price sale plus extra % off :)
Now--the inside is a bit of a let down--it is lined, with one zipper pocket but NO CELL PHONE pocket ?? WTF? We are in a day and age where this is a must! My purse-to-go medium sz fits great though and that will serve as cell phone holder:) Last, the hardware is going to be slightly more time consuming as you do need to close it and it is spring lock closure but cannot just toss it over and hope it looks good--it won't-it must be latched. The gold hardware is burnished--not shiny-- so I am seeing tiny scraches already--hope that isn't a problem.
Hangs just perfectly and the size is GREAT!
    Overall-very happy!

  68. OT: Anyone gotten the Juliet Patent Heels? I'm thinking of getting the driftwood. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  69. pink1: I ordered them but had to return because they were too snug in my normal size. Because they have a closed toe, I think I can up size to get better width. In a nut, the shoe either runs a tad narrow or a tad short for size so you may want to go a 1/2 size up.

Other than that I think they are great (though pricey). And FFM has shown how versatile that shoe is.

  70. This is totally and completely OT, but I wanted to let you all know: I passed the bar exam!!!

Thank you to Alexis and to all the great people on this blog. Studying this summer was horrific, and this blog played a HUGE part in getting me through it with my sanity. You are all the greatest!

I also hope to have wedding pics to share soon. This weekend was magnificent, and now this is just the icing on an already delicious cake :)

  72. FSW - One of the most practical and enduringly stylish Cole Haan bags on sale right now is the Small Work Tote (Village Collection). It's a perfect size at 13 1/2"L x 9 3/8"H x 6"D because it fits your work stuff but is still small enough to carry everyday. It has adjustable shoulder straps, 1 exterior front zip pocket, 2 exterior side slide pockets, 1 interior zip pocket, 1 interior open cell pocket, and 1 interior open lipstick/mints/PDA pocket. My kind of bag!

The color platinum is on sale for $229.95. With 20% off, that brings the price to $183.96. I adore the color platinum because there is literally almost nothing it doesn't go with. It's 4-season and it matches all your bright colors plus all your brown, navy, white and black jackets. I like that it's not a *bling* platinum but a muted, matte shade.

If you're looking for a brown or black bag, the Box Satchel from the Saddle Collection looks gorgeous in person. I don't think the online photo does it justice. It comes in black, chestnut (mahogany), and deep forest. It's super elegant and timeless, but the single gold-capped tassel closure gives it a rich detail. It measures 15"L x 13 1/4"H x 6"D and has 1 interior zip pocket, 1 interior open cell pocket, and 1 interior open lipstick/mints/PDA pocket. It's priced at $450 but the 20% discount brings it down to $360.

I'm also a big fan of the beautiful suede in the Newbury Street collection. The shoulder zip - especially in Pinot Noir - is sophisticated but unique.

I can't wait to get the shoes I just ordered on sale with my extra 20% discount!

  74. I do think, as this blog evolves and grows, that Alexis may want to consider trying new articles, or at least a new way of presenting the articles.

Often the articles seemed to be so similar, that the same people keep stating the same things in every post. The articles may have a different subject matter, but always seem to attract the same types of comments.

How about an article title " What is the best deal you've ever gotten on a JC item?" or "What is your favorite JC cashmere color/item of all time and why?" Granted these may not seem like marketing/business questions, and this IS a marketing blog, but you'd be surprised at how much marketing info you can gather from these types of questions.

    Just a thought.....

  76. michelle - congrats on passing the bar exam!

covert5 - thanks for sharing your review of the Quincy hobo in yellow. I've had it in my online cart since it went on sale, but I tested it in the store and have held off on getting it. The exact reasons you mentioned with lack of cell phone/pda/lipstick pockets plus the need to close the lock made me hesitate. Another thing I couldn't deal with is, no matter how much of my stuff I packed into the bag, it kept falling over. With sitting in the car and sitting it down on the floor, I don't like a bag that won't stand up by itself.

The yellow color keeps drawing me and so does the sale price, but I must fight the urge to buy impractical bags... They'll only end up sitting in my closet. Now the Owen hobo seemed a lot more practical in at least not needing to be snapped close and being able to stand up by itself. But I need this bag to come in other colors!

  77. Michelle, congratulations! What an accomplishment - I hope you enjoy celebrating! (And now, Madame Attorney, what can you tell us about virtual harassment/AKA trolling?) ;-)

  80. 3PP and FSW - I actually have both the small work tote and the box tote. They are fantastic bags! I have the work tote in CH's orange and the box tote in the saddle weave. For tote needs though, I would take the work tote. I swear that bag is like Mary Poppin's carpetbag, there is always more room, but it never looks too big or sloppy.
I also have the village medium hobo which, I think, is quite large.

  81. People, get a grip!

Number one, this isn't Alexis's profession where we give her instructions and critique her performance of running this blog.

Number 2, this blog isn't a professional discussion where we can only discuss the transactions and inventory of J.Crew. Some of us enjoy making new friends through this blog, and many people do gripe as well as rave about various things.

anon @ 12:37 - passing the bar exam is a major life event, not a "pointless thing" in someone's life. While it may not be completely on par with having a baby or getting married, it certainly counts as something that someone may want to celebrate.

And while some subjects do come in at random times during various posts, a lot of people make completely off topic comments or ask questions unrelated to a specific discussion. It's called a conversation.

If you don't want to be a part of a sociable, talkative group that likes to share - sometimes things other than their J.Crew purchases, then start your own J.Crew blog and moderate the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I think it is pretty funny that some people find Jcrew bags to be "expensive" LOL! I'm sorry but a $400 bag is not expensive. Oh wait, but then again--everyone on this blog is cheap and needs their discounts

    ReplyDelete
  83. anonymous @ 12:55 - I personally do not find a $400 bag expensive. I have purchased bags from Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, and Burberry (at full retail price and not the fabric bags, either). It's just that over the years I have become more discriminating of what the dollar buys, and frankly, the dollar doesn't go as far as I'd like it to with many J.Crew bags. Then again, I'm no longer shelling out $1300 for a Jimmy Choo or $1600 for a Burberry.

It's about competition and the free market. When I see that Coach (which by the way makes much more expensive bags than many J.Crew bags) and Cole Haan offer excellent leather and more practical, more durable bags, that's where I prefer to spend my dollars. Then, when I receive a 20% discount off the full or sale price of a Cole Haan bag (and I know that no sale is ever final), again, I choose to spend my dollars there.

But that doesn't mean I'll never buy a J.Crew bag. I love the designs and I don't think the prices are that high. However, I need more functionality and practicality in a bag, period. I sincerely hope that J.Crew listens to peoples' feedback and brings us a collection of bags next season that accommodates more of our needs.

  84. Hmm... I posted at 12:37, and hoped my comments, as a 'customer' of this blog, might be taken in the constructive way they were intended. Many people here haughtily tell JC how to run their business, so I'm not sure why forward thinking constructive commentary would be so bothersome. This is a great blog, but it does seem to be attracting the same comments from the same people over and over. The number of posters who aren't into that, and have stopped reading and posting here is unquantifiable. I was just suggesting the possible ways to attract and retain some new viewpoints.

  88. A front yoke on the Bella is very old fashioned. That is not a nasty comment! (I am an English teacher...) Long gloves are old fashioned, day coats are old fashioned...

Also, I read on another blog that used to great...the older JCrewaholics...where the blogger described rounded collars on jackets as "dowdy as hell". I owned the jacket from this summer that she was talking about and love it on me...so what!

Frumpy, old fashioned, dowdy..who cares???? I don't think those are nasty words...they are descriptive ones that fit fashion design...Tim Gunn (sp?) has used them.

  90. I don't think anon 12:40 & 1.06 is a troll, unlike some other anons who have posted this morning are.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Describing an item as frumpy or old fashioned is fair game, imo. Describing a person who wears an item as one who must be frumpy is a personal attack, as some of the other asinine anons have tried to do this morning. I won't repeat the ridiculous name-calling. And for those anons who are offended by my use of asinine -- create a user id.

The only repetitive threads are regarding discount codes and those are new threads, imo. For the record, there are past threads on what's your fave JC item and the like. Entertain yourself with some historical reading.

Anonymous @ 1:06 - I respectfully disagree that people here haughtily tell JC how to run their business. Tones taken as haughty or snobby are largely perceived as such by the reader. There is a variety of income brackets represented here and some people have felt others are flaunting. It doesn't bother me that I do my own dishes and others pay to have theirs done. Again -- I'm not attacking you and the last two statements really refer to past discussion that have erupted in a bad way. As far as consumer opinion, hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent in focus groups and other marketing studies to pinpoint shopping habits. Surely J Crew can sift through reader comments here to take what works for them and leave the rest. And this is free to them, so I consider it a service overall.

Michelle -- CONGRATULATIONS!!!! on accomplishing a major feat, as well as getting married. I'm excited for you. Thanks for sharing your news :-)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anon @ 12:55, $400 is expensive for a bag for 95% of the population. Dropping $1000+ on a purse may make you feel special, but it does not make you better than the posters on this blog.

I am lucky enough to have a salary where I afford to spend $1000+ on a purse but choose not to, because I don't ascribe my status in life to how much I am able to spend on a handbag. I prefer to be a smart shopper, think about how much a bag cost to manufacture and how much of a markup is fair to pay for what I am getting. Whenever I see someone toting around a Prada or LV, I don't think, oh I'm envious of that bag; I think, I can't believe that person was impressionable enough to pay such an exorbitant amount just to display a designer name on their arm. It's a matter of critical thinking skills.

  93. gigiofca - hear hear!

michelle - congrats on getting married too! Didn't know you also tied the knot recently. Wow, you must really be celebrating now!

  95. I love a good looking bag like any other girl! However quality and attention to detail are completly two seperate topics.I agree a bag can be inexpensive, top notch quality and meet every one of your needs. On the flip side you could buy an expensive bag, with no interior pocket that is made from a calfskin that is so soft it will scratch if you breath on it wrong. Now which is the inferior bag? It is relative to how much you are willing to spend and what you consider a mark of a good bag.
Me, lining is non-negotiable in a leather handbag at that price point.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Michelle - Congrats on passing the bar exam! You should be full of excitement and personal pride. My son is currently studying his exam.

I will leave it up to you to determine if this huge accomplishment is up to par with having a baby or getting married. It should not be someone else's personal assessment regarding how you define and value accomplishments in your life.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Michelle - Congrats on passing the bar exam!! Are you celebrating with a little shopping?

Pink1 - I have the Juliet heels in the iridescent color and I absolutely love them. I did size up half a size but I have narrow feet, so they fit great and I find them rather comfortable to wear all day. I'm just waiting for them to go on sale so I can buy more in different colors!

J Crew purses are ok I think. I do tend to buy my purses at Banana Republic though instead. I also wish JC had some purse options in black though.

  99. PS. I second tdl's comment as well...we all set our own standards for accomplishments and what we want to do with our lives. michelle - I intended nothing but praise and congratulations for you! I hope you didn't think I was making personal assessments on your accomplishments. I was only responding at the time to anon @ 12:37's comment about posting about "pointless things" in your life. I was trying to say that getting married and having a baby are not the only celebratory events that someone might want to share, and that passing the bar exam is far from pointless. I am personally not comparing one life event to another in terms of its value to someone - I was just defending your right to post about your major accomplishments, period, without being criticized.

Good luck with your law career!

  104. Thanks, weab. I was wondering what the in-store promo is as of today. I just placed an order w/the ACORN code for free shipping off $100 or more. Today is the last day. I got a silky jersey pleated tank in sea salt. I'm hoping I like the softer white. I also got the cafe capris in white, burnished moss and roasted red pepper (finally!). I hope I love the red. And I have some ideas for pairing the burnished moss with a black jacket. I'm fine with not getting 20% off because of my low sub total. It works out to about the same and I cannot get these items in the store anyway. I'm very happy.

For petites -- the capri in regular sizes fit like an ankle pant. I love it! The capri in petite is a shorter length and comes *above* the ankle. A different look, but I think I am loving the longer size more so I'm not cut into pieces, as they say on What Not To Wear ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  105. gigiofca - you're right about petites wearing the capri like ankle pants. I do that too. Finally a win for us petites!

As far as the sea salt color, I personally prefer it to white. I don't like how I look in stark white, especially because I have a slightly yellow undertone in my skin. I find that the sea salt is a little friendlier than stark white for some complexions.

  108. I don't want to cause any more drama regarding likes/dislikes of things like the Bella, but I am considering buying one off ebay. Having never seen it in person or tried it on, I'd be really interested in hearing opinions, especially of the people who love the jacket. I just don't want to buy it off ebay and worry about re-selling it without having input. Thanks guys!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Anon - No one is saying that dowdy and old-fashioned are not insults. Of course, the person who wrote that was insulting the Bella jacket. However, they were not insulting La Belle Helene personally, nor does it seem obnoxious to some of us. However, it does to others. Viva America. That said, your personal insult to the English teacher is far from kosher. I wish you would apologize for being intentionally rude and condescending to a person, but that is on your head.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Lynzeroo - I called Westport. The cardi is on sale in stores too. Yeah!!!

Argyle - I loved the Bella on my sister, not on me. So, I can give two perspectives. Sister is 5'4" size 0 or 2 with long hair and classic looks. She was regal and stylish and fantastic in it. I am 5'6" size 10. I have a slightly more modern look and it just didn't look "right" on me. The fit and everything were fabulous. I just didn't feel that it fit in with the look that I cultivate for myself. So, if it appeals to you and fits your look. Go for it, it is certainly a beloved item on this site.

I have short hair and considered hip looking. I own a couple wigw for different looks, but it takes a lot for me to put on the 'hat.' I'm 5'2" and a size 4 but definitely have a more medium/athletic build than a slender one. Here are 2 photos of the Bella azaela herringbone and
the blue velvet. Hopefully the links work. Also, the velvet looks so good w/a patterned blouse underneath. All that said, I think I would look better in the corduroy version which I might drive to the outlet to scope out.

  115. back top the subject of JC bags...there's a bag only IN STORES right now- the CANDACE bag-it comes in blue, tan, and BLACK!! 118. Oh boy. Well getting back to HANDBAGS...

I have the Peyton - the leather on that is so nice I could actually smell it from a few feet away when I first got it. The interior is a really nice suede, and there are at least two zippered interior pockets. One of the middle, and a smaller one on the side...only saying "at least" because maybe there is a smaller on both sides? I don't have it with me today.

I also have the Carnaby Carryall. It is lined, and also has a cell phone pocket, a smaller credit card/train ticket/business card pocket, and I believe it does have a zippered pocket in it as well (?). Also don't have that one with me today, but I am pretty sure it does have that extra pocket. I definitely remember the cell phone and card pocket. And DEFINITELY is cloth-lined.

Just would rather there isn't such a broad statement made that states NONE of J.Crew bags are lined or have pockets, because that's just not the case.

  119. I have bought several of the uptown totes over the last few years. Although I have many designer bags (marc jacobs, chanel, bokiter, lauren merkin) I am really over the logos. I stopped buying coach about 7 or 8 years ago for this reason. The uptown's are great and logo free. Yes, you have to carry smaller organizing bags inside, but I already do that. The leather is nice, the colors are great, the stitching is tight, the quality is there. I do not mind the lack of lining. Actually, I dont think I would have loved them as much if they were lined. I can put a sweater in there if I have too, a sippy cup, baby blanket, whatever!

    ReplyDelete
  120. OT: Does anyone own the Cashmere Femme Sweater? How does it fit? What's the wool like on bare skin? Do you need to wear a tank under? Do you like it?

  121. FYI, just came from Rockefellar Center store. They had tartine cardigans in solid colors on sale as well as the snow leopard--all 69.99 minus 20%. They had a TON in the ivory, persimmon, and rhubarb. The solid colors are still FP online.

Also, still FP, but they had a ton of the merino rose cardigans in all colors. I think they probably just put out a few in the beginning to make them look scarce.

I saw that the cashmere flora dress was put on sale online. They had one in the store that I could try on--I noticed that cashmere was already pilling on the rack--probably from people trying on--so I passed. Too bad b/c it is a pretty dress.

  122. I believe it was my post that may have been interpreted to mean that all J.Crew bags were unlined. I apologize for the generalization! I meant (and should have clarified) that several of the more expensive Borge leather bags are unlined, including the Uptown Tote, which I own in Cherry Guava. Several of the current bag offerings specify they are lined (with some kind of poly lining I believe.) And please - I hope I was clear in my saying that while I feel the Uptown Tote is overpriced for a bag sans lining and interior organizational pockets, the bag is well made, and the leather is lovely. structurally, my only complaint about the bag is that the side snaps come unsnapped very easily, as in every time I pick up the bag or reach into it to retrieve something. Initially, they were so stiff I could barely fasten them, but now they are just the opposite. Sigh.

  123. Jen Brak-no. that's the quilted avery bag, according to the catalog. The Candace Bag is longer, rectangular and in a hammered Patent leather, with two flap pockets on the outside. It has 2 curved handles. Kinda looks like the Tabloid Tote J. Crew had out last year, but it's patent and it has exterior pockets. I have a ton of Coach bags and need a new bag and this is EXACTLY what I am looking for. I need something where I can throw three boys' cups, juice boxes, matchbox cars, snacks, tissues, wrappers, etc, without having to open and close it every time with a zipper. this has an open top.
sheesh I should just drive myself over to J. crew right now and stop writing about it and just GET IT!!

  124. bgd - I got the black patent one. It also comes in a kelly green and yellow. I believe all are patent if it's the same one I'm thinking of. Never saw tan. That sounds cute! I am a huge fan of black totes and VERY picky about the size and functionality. I was excited that this one fits all of my needs, is so very basic and still looks sleek and stylish. If you love this one just get it. I'm so happy I did. You might consider signing up for a personal shopping appointment. You have to spend $175 min, though, but you'd get 20% off.

  126. In late summer 2008, I saw a really subdue and beautiful patent leather tote in the J. Crew stores; I think it was about $150. I still regret not buying it! I think it came in black, green, a midnight blue... maybe red, too. It's not online anymore, if it ever was; does anyone know what it was called?

Argyle- I feel as if I've been writing a lot about the Bella, but I just got two wool herringbone Bellas and I like them very much. I'm tall but not thin, got a classic sort of style, so they fit into my wardrobe well; I have short hair but I think if I had long hair, I'd tie it up so it wouldn't interfere with the line of the coat. I have the gray and the navy but actually don't notice the yoke at all on these colors. The fit is great. Since I got them two days ago, I've worn them twice! The only problem I have is that the wool fabric is kind of scratchy and not that warm... but I can layer underneath.

  127. Talking about bags, my Andie bag just arrived and was delivered to my office a mere 10 minutes ago. I ripped open the box and there it was. I am in-love!

I was concerned that I would be disappointed but definitely no. This bag is beautiful! Despite being patent leather, the leather is very soft and supple. It is fully lined with interior as well as exterior pockets. And, it comes with it's own protective dust bag (the same ones that come with my Coach, Vuitton and Burberry).

This is my first ever bag purchase from J Crew so I have nothing to really compare it to but based on what I received today, I'm loving my Andie bag!

I hope I'll fall in love with my Green Quincy Tote as much as I have with my Andie, when it finally does arrive.

  128. Ah, I just think my question was answered. I was probably looking at the Candace bag.

  129. weab: You're right, I should probably wait on the leopard tartine. It is good to know that all of the tartines are on sale AND an extra 20% off in the store. Perhaps it will be extra 40% for the weekend . . . a girl can hope!

gigi: I have the burnished moss cafe capri pants. It's an "odd" color but I think that's why I like them so much. Never saw the red ones in the store; let us know what you think when you get them.

  130. I have 3 totes from years past. 2 of the totes are the same (just different colors - 1 dark brown, 1 black) from 2-3 years ago; both have a divider in the middle, lining, and 1 zip pocket. I also have 1 tote from last year with leopard-print calf hair on the outside and lining and 1 zip pocket on the inside. They are complete workhorses -- I'm an attorney, and I used them (especially the leopard-print tote) every day to carry around my computer, legal pads, etc. They have held up exceptionally well (I kept expecting the handles to break from the weight of my computer, but they never did!), so I'm looking to branch into some of their smaller bags. I usually buy Coach bags, but like a lot of posters today, I'm getting very tired of logo overuse.

Has anyone bought the Jamie bag, large Oslo bag, or the Owen hobo? If so, any reviews?

  131. jcrew girl in Canada - which color did you get in the Andie bag? I am so glad to hear you are pleased with it! I'm motivated to give this bag a try - probably in Charcoal since I already have a red tote. Enjoy!

  132. FSW: I got it in the Flame. Without sounding over the top, I absolutely LOVE it. I too own a Red bag but the reason why I love this one is as follows: 1.) The girth of the bag. This bag is pretty big. It's comparable to my Burberry Bowling Bag style Satchel. Unlike the Burberry, I can wear the Andie on my shoulders, whereas my Burberry is a hand-held which I'm not crazy about. 2.) The color is awesome. My other red bag is Red kid leather. This one is so much nicer. I had thought that the patent would be hard but it's not. It's very soft. And it's not even plain patent, it's crinkly and very unusual. 3.) The tasels as shown on the picture for the exterior pockets are actually on both sides of the bag. I was certain that it would only be on one side but no, it's on both - so now, I don't have to worry about which side should face out.

Sorry to have gone on in so much detail. Can you tell I'm in love? LOL!

  133. Okay, all you "Bag" ladies who have been posting with me all day - I am now considering two bags - the J.Crew Andie bag in Charcoal and the Cole Haan North South Tote in Dark Anthracite Metallic. With the various discounts, the prices are almost the same. Would someone who owns (or knows well) both Cole Haan's bags and J.Crew's bags offer an opinion for me? Thanks in advance!

I am going to buy the Jamie bag in cloud as soon as I can afford it. The leather is gorgeous and the size and shape are very lovely. However, it is the type that will mark and show wear over time. It will develop a rich patina that is gorgeous, but if you are worried about scratches, this is not a great bag for you.

I own the Owen hobo. I really like this bag and use it often. Very stylish and that horn handle is killer. Two problems with this bag - I wish they had done the stud detail on both sides and the horn handle can get uncomfortable over time.

I really did not care for the Oslo bag in person. It is kind of a rougher funkier look that does not appeal to me personally. The leather is so soft though.

Hope you see the poitives and negatives of all the bags. Tried to let you have the full story. I love the Owen and Jamie, but wanted to give you possible drawbacks too.

  136. Fashionista Social Worker - totally go for it! I can't say enough good things about this bag, and in addition to the pros that I already listed, it is very roomy - holds A LOT! Definitely worth every penny, you will get major use out of it for years to come :-)

  137. FSW - Between the Andie and the Cole Haan, I would pick the CH for one big reason. I much prefer a non-zippered bag when I will be carrying a lot of stuff. Considering these are both larger bags, I am thinking you will have a lot of stuff with you.
The Andie is very cool, and if you were looking at the red, I would say get that. However, in the charcoal, I would go with the slightly more classic CH. Just my two cents.

  138. I have a few comments. First off, I have a ton of the smaller clutches and bags from J. Crew, which are more statement items (kind of like the jewelry). I can honestly say I don't go to J. Crew for high end quality. I go for punches of color and bold details as far as their bags and accessories/shoes go. I can see the larger bags and leather goods are getting up there in price, I have a couple and I get a ton of compiments on them the same as my designer splurges. But, I gotta admit, if looking for an everyday classic leather bag, I too would put a couple hundred and go for a Prada or Kors bag, etc.

I know the bags are kind of getting the same rap as the jewelry/shoes. I gotta say, I also get stopped on the street of people asking where do I get many of them. For instance, I wore the wooden acorn necklace to an arts festival over the weekend and I even had 2 men comment it was "beautiful". I counted 9 people gushing over it in 2 hours. So, overpriced or it being costume aside, I do have to say its usually a safe bet I will get adoration in some way for it. Same goes for the bags and shoes.

I will end by saying the website and ordering is still way lacking. That is sad. I had a necklace cancelled that is clearly in stock and my rep is acting like it will be such a feat if he and his co-workers can get it to ship from warehouse. Nuts! I am still averaging one error per order currently. Heaven help them for Christmas!

  139. FSW: In the interim between posting earlier (in agreeement with you about the lining/interior pocket issue), then leaving to be the "preschool mom" I decided that I too would try a J Crew bag. I opted to order the Quilted Quincy in Wild Peony. The cost of the bag is $298 which really is much cheaper in cost than my other bags which include a black quilted Chanel, silver metallic Chloe Paddington and LV's Cabas Piano. In fact, I was happy enough with the price that I also decided to order the Plum Peacoat (w/Thinsulate) to go with it! Also, you asked about the Andie in Charcoal vs the Cole Haan in Anthracite Metallic. I think that my choice would be the Andie as I really like the general "look" of the bag. I'll be anxious know which you decide to purchase. :)

  140. Lily - I never even thought of mentioning the clutches. I think I have four that are always complimented as well.

I have had the exact same experience with my acorn necklace and the large cuff bracelets from the summer. The feedback is amazing!

I am really sorry to hear about your order problems. I thought it had gotten better for everyone. My last five orders have been perfect and fast.

  142. jenn_brak and lily: I ordered the Acorn necklace this morning with the Orange Lily (I plan on wearing it under my Maple Jackie and the necklace will really pull it altogether!) Also, I ordered the Black Stripe Sequin Cashmere Cardi to go over my Green Silk Twisted Placket Lawn Shirt (hope I got all this right...it sounds confusing!) I am pretty excited about my purchases today! :)

  144. Anonymous @3:54 PM - I will post about the red capris upon receipt. For the burnished moss I'm thinking of them with a graphic tee, blazer and heels. Another look may be with the honey glaze Marcella. I hope that pairs up nicely.

  149. Re: Owen hobo. I bought it a while ago and was not too happy with it. The leather was too delicate, uneven, and already scratched. I think I got the last one before the bag disappeared from the web in July/August and it must have been a return. I was debating if I should keep it becuase I liked the size, shape, and color. I ended up exchanging it and the second one was much better. The leather is sturdier and the bag had no scratches. I could tell it was brand new this time. At this time I need to give this bag a full credit it deserves - I love it!

I received the Andie bag in charcoal yesterday. I love the size of it. I could put a zip around leather portfolio in it no problem. I also don't have to worry if it gets a bit wet in the rain. Definitely a great buy!
