J.Crew Sends Email Reminder About Free Shipping :)

J.Crew sent another email reminder today about their promotion for free shipping (refer to yesterday's "Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?" post).

As mentioned in an article (click here), J.Crew is increasing their promotional activity due to "high inventory going into the third quarter". So, I am sure we will receive another email tomorrow to remind us that the promo ends tomorrow. Personally, I rather get three emails from J.Crew about the same promotion than no emails. ;)

What are your thoughts on all these promotional emails being sent? Do you like or dislike receiving them? Are you receiving multiple emails on the same promotion?

  1. I don't mind the reminders...I just delete them....the free shipping amounts are too high for me if I just want a sale item or two so I usually pass on them nowadays...and wait for extra % offs......

  2. I would also rather receive more emails than no emails at all. :) I still think they should lower the minimum amount, though.

  3. Sorry OT - this is for a, if you are reading today. You were interested in the giraffe day coat I have in size 12. Let me know if you still are. I LOVE it, I just really need a 14. If you are between sizes, this coat is better to go up if you have broad shoulders, and I do. So give me a post back and we can connect. If not, anyone else interested before it hits ebay? :) I did get it for 40% off, but had to pay tax and (ridiculous) shipping so the total is just over $100. We'll have to figure out shipping. Thanks!

  5. I got the reminder emails too...but I'm holding out for the extra % off and the new product roll out. I'm hoping then some different stuff will go on sale.

  6. I did receive their HARVEST coupon but not this one?

  7. I don't mind receiving multiple emails/catalogs at all. I used the HARVEST coupon, and in the process scored the Solid cashmere rosette cardigan in dark carrot on sale for $79.99!

  8. Can anyone tell me quickly if the Bella jackets fit true to size? I wear a size 2 suit jacket with J Crew normally but wondering if I should size up with the Bella jacket if I want to wear a sweater underneath. Thanks.

  9. anon 1:02, you do not need to size up for wool bella if not size down. I have no idea about outlet bella though.

  10. Hey, I can't complain. My amount was $150 or more rather than $100. But at least they are sending them to me. Do we think this means I am no longer black listed? Maybe they will send me a catalog at some point now too... but that is probably asking too much. Hehe-- oh well I am happy with what I can get ;)

  11. blumre: I have two email accounts signed up with J.Crew...one for me and one for my husband...I received the $150 code at my address that I use for all of our purchases, but the $100 code at his address that I have never used when making a purchase...go figure...

  12. Anon @ 1:18: Thanks! I just purchased a Bella off of ebay. After all this talk on this blog about it, I'm really excited. Supposedly it's not an outlet Bella even...or at least I hope not for what I just paid for it!! Thanks!

  13. the original herringbone bellas run small, definitely size up.

  14. My experience is wool bella runs big, but velvet bella runs normal. Lexington runs small though.

  15. I think I know which bella you just purchased. I think that is not a outlet bella.

  16. I don't mind these reminder emails at all but if I am spending $150+ on online purchases, I'd prefer being reminded of "an additional 20% coupon" than "free shipping"...

  17. I just got two wool herringbone Bellas from J. Crew and I think they fit true to size. I can wear t-shirts, button-ups, and a thin sweater (like the merino) underneath. When I wear my cashmere sweater, the shoulders/arms get a little tight.

I don't know about the Bella though; I've just heard they run smaller.

  18. Oops- to clarify, I don't know about the VELVET Bella.

  19. I used the acorn code to ship to Canada and it let it go through! Excited that I didn't have to spend the $150.

  20. Mack - If A is not interested, I would love to purchase your giraffe day coat.

  21. I wonder if they will have an extra % of sale stuff for Columbus Day. Possible?? I want some final sale stuff but don't want to buy anything only to see 20%+ off a day or two later!

I am interested in your day coat, but really should not buy anything else from JCrew this year. Get back to me if all sttempts to sell it fall through.

  23. I got both e-mails. The $150 FS offer came to the e-mail address that I use for all my ordering. The $100 FS offer came to another e-mail that I have registered with JC, but never use in connection with purchases. Guess it pays to play hard to get! May I ought to make a few small purchases under that e-mail and see if I start getting more lucrative offers!

  24. I have heard on this blog that Bellas run small (velvet or wool, not sure). I generally wear a 6T, but the 6 in the Ecole fits me. The 6 in the Bella velvet was too tight. So, now I'm not sure if I would need a 6T in the Bella, or if the 8 would fit. Are there any normal size 6 jacket people out there - and what did you get in the Bella? Did you size up to an 8? I'm looking to get a wool Bella, so just wondering if the 8 might be too big.

  25. Argyle: I have been purchasing a size 4 in J.Crew jackets recently, and I sized up to a 6 in the Wool Herringbone Bella. The 4 would have been way to snug in the shoulders on me. The 6 isn't AS fitted in the waist as I would like, but it still looks really pretty. HTH! :)

  26. I wear a size 10 in all JCrew jackets for the last two years...wool or my Velvet Bella.....I am 5'9. I did not find it to run small.

  27. Mack, I am still interested in the giraffe coat, you can contact me at as01bc@hotmail.com

    Thanks :)

  28. I normally wear a size 2 in JC suit jackets, so I ordered the size 2 wool Bella on ebay. There seem to be mixed reviews, so I hope it fits! If not, I will just try to resell it. I probably would just wear a light sweater underneath it or a t-shirt (I live in Southern California, so no bulky sweaters!). Thanks for all your help ladies!

  29. All this talk about Bellas makes me really kinda want one!! What is everyone's favorite color? I like the pink/Azalea one in size 4 on Ebay but I wonder how often I'd wear that color??

    ReplyDelete
  30. Argyle: I have broad shoulders and purchased a size 8 in this year's velvet Ecole, which fits me fine (a little snug when I wear a sweater underneath, but with a tee, it's perfect). But I recently purchased a Lexington jacket from last year ('07) and found that sizing up helped (from an 8 to a 10). So my guess is that anything from 2007 should probably be sized up one size...

  31. Thanks guys! Your input has helped a lot.

  32. JCrew can send all the "free shipping" reminders to me that they want, but the items currently in my cart will remain there until: a. they go on sale or b. they offer a 20% off code. As much as I love JCrew clothes, "free shipping" alone just doesn't cut it for me anymore.

  33. ouch, the managesr and the reps at jcrew are definitely getting really mean. they told me that I WILL NO LONGER BE HONORED DISCOUNT UNLESS I AM PHYSICALLY AT THE STORE AND CALL FROM THE PHONE, and one of the cases that was created for a credit was denied becuase i wasn't physically at the store hwen i called...geez. i am so done with jcrew for awhile.

  34. OT: I was at Tar-jay (Target) today and clocked this shawl-collar Merona fleece:
    http://tinyurl.com/3kcf5e

Which looks very similar to this from last season:
    http://tinyurl.com/44roy9

Also, this slub tee (which I picked up for $7.99):
    http://tinyurl.com/48umbq

...seems vaguely reminiscent of the slub tees that jcrew is making popular as a layering piece....

And finally there was a bunch of argyle pieces in cotton (for $17):

Obviously not a coincidence and the quality is not as top-notch as JC, but for a "trendier" piece, these are not bad prices...

  35. I noticed the same thing last time I was at Target. Not the same quality, but suspiciously similar patterns and styles. I bought a couple t-shirts; the prices really can't be beat for trendy pieces. For the classic good quality timeless stuff however, I'd rather wait for a J Crew sale....

  36. I'm fairly new to J. Crew and I'm excited about this mid-October sale people have mentioned here. I bought a fair amount off the sale page online when the PEEKABOO code was in effect. I'm hoping more goes on sale!

  37. Lynzeeroo - I haven't seen the Bella in Azalea, but it would look so pretty if your coloring is good for it. And you can wear a variety of patterned tops underneath in various colors. I have the Leaf green Bella and the velvet is beautiful.

  38. Re. the Target items, yes, I agree it's nice to purchase the trendier stuff for much less here.

I also remembered that their version of the JC Jackie Cardigan:
    http://tinyurl.com/6apfcz

    Was this one:
    http://tinyurl.com/3rcf93

For $18...same material as JC's...in red (more like an orange-y red), grey, white, black, and dark brown.

  39. Just curious - why does everyone love the Bella jacket so much? I do worry a little about the flipped up collar. If you have longer hair, where does it go? Or, do you always wear it in a pony-tail or bun. Thanks guys!

  40. argly, I am only a fan of the velvet Bella. I did not take a second look at it last year b/c I think the front yoke is frumpy and old fashioned looking...in the dark velvet it is not noticed much. I have to be careful not to get make on my purple velvet bella. Also, I got mine from JCrew online last winter on sale for only $34.99 so I can't complain. I wouldn't pay more for one!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Argyle: I was never much of fan of that jacket either. The collar and yoke treatment were just alittle too cute for my taste and there were some many available that I would see them on people everywhere.

Some of the fabrics were really nice, and I loved the purple velvet fabric.

  42. isadore and 10NISNE1 - I have the giraffe day coat available in size 12. You both mentioned you were interested. Let me know if you are still interested. Thanks!
