This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of the "secret sales", the additional 20%-50% off final sale items (percentage ranges from store to store), or to see the additional Fall arrivals, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the sale items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) For example, Anonymous at 5:49PM (in the post "Love It Or Leave It: Timex Watch For J.Crew") let us know that her local store was carrying an additional 40% off final sale, and was able to purchase the velvet ecole jacket for $78. She also let us know about a secret sale on cashmere tees for $99. I really love how helpful we are for each other!
Sorry this is OT, but has anyone tried the Penny jacket? I am curious about the weight of the fabric. Is this bulky? Also, is it cropped, or is it a classic fit?
ReplyDeleteTIA
The Orlando store discount is back down to 20%...bummer...I'm still waiting for the Holiday Rollout...not too much longer if all goes as scheduled. :)
ReplyDeleteJust to let everyone who had been looking for Bellas know - there is one black velvet Bella, size 8, that is listed in the final sale section of the website.
ReplyDeleteHappy shopping :)
Forgot to mention - the website lists it at $49.99!
ReplyDeleteFabulousfloridamommy, tell me more about the holiday rollout. Is that in store and all locations, or just certain places?
ReplyDeleteanon @10:16: The Holiday Rollout is scheduled for on or around the 15th of this month, according to the Store Director at the J.Crew in Orlando...I believe it is for all J.Crew stores, but may vary by a few days, depending on store location. I'm not sure at all when the website will have the new merchandise or when the catalog will come out, though. HTH!
ReplyDeleteOK, This is a website comment. The Cooper Jacket came back up in khaki size 6. It had only shown up in the red, for at least 4-5 days. I ordered this morning and I am crossing my fingers that it will actually come!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations leaderboys and good luck! Fingers crossed for ya, too! :) Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteOT but got my order yesterday and wanted to give some feedback on the Chiffon-bow city tee cardigan (97646). I ordered it in black and size small. I'm pretty tall and long in the body. I've found it's a bit too short in the body for me to wear to work. Since I live in Canada returning it is a huge pain so I'll keep it and wear on the weekends. In hindsight, I think the bow on the champagne colour looks more bow-like than on the black which looks like a clump of fabric.
ReplyDeleteI also ordered the Skinny mirror-metallic belt (#99338) in pewter and I'm very happy with it. It's much less shiny than the website and looks great with cardigans
Hi everyone! I was at the Tyson's store last night (Mclean, VA) and they had the cashmere crews and cardis on sale for 99. AND they had lots of the heather plum in both styles. I remember reading awhile ago that someone was looking for this. I didn't check specific sizes because I was in a bit of a hurry, but the stacks were large, so I'm betting every size was in there!
ReplyDeleteHTH!
website comment:
ReplyDeleteThere are quite a few new items on te website, especially in the smaller sizes (xs inventory doubled overnight, it seems). Hope that helps!
It seems that a lot of item have very limited inventory, so if you love it, jump on it. I purchased the silk taffeta mini, the pique hoodie and skirt, and the addison trousers.
Also, not sure that this works every time or for everyone, but whenever I place an order right after (say, within 24 hours) of the order before, especially if I'm adding things that were JUST added to the website (aka, wasn't available when I placed my earlier order), I ask to have the item(s) added to the previous order. Even when they can't, the CS's are usually willing to waiver the shipping fee.
i am so proud of myself, it's been almost 3 weeks since i ordered anything! i have a ton of stuff to return when i get back to the states, and i'm sure i will get a gift card for most of it since it's final sale or more than 60 days since i purchased. so hopefully the holiday stuff will do more to entice me than the current offerings. if not, i'll be waiting for the dana or lady day coats or uptown tote to go on sale after christmas.
ReplyDeletekater,
ReplyDeleteThanks. I waS the one looking for a large heather plum cashmere cardi. I will give them a call....and have it shipped to me.
Julie
montrose: I ordered the Grosgrain City Tee and I also found it short and I am 5'4. If you want to return it I have the proper zipcode to ship things back to JC from Canada. The other zipcode delayed returns.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a good B&M in Cincinnati, b/c they never have ANYTHING there. I will go once in a while wanting to try some stuff before buying, and they never have any of it. And their sale section is so terrible, it isn't worth the gas to drive there! The CSR's are TOTAL MORONS. Out of the large number I have encountered while shopping, about 4 have been truly helpful and courteous (I am serious). I went to see about winter outerwear (they didn't have anything I wanted to try, naturally) but the sales person suggested I try on the coats they did have to get an idea of the fit. Maybe I am the idiot here, but it seems to me that trying on different styles of coats will do NOTHING to let me know how the style I want will fit. I know from personal experience and from reading the posts here that you can never be certain of a fit w/ a lot of J Crew items.
ReplyDeleteI think the website and store rollout should be at the same time give or take a couple of days. It gives people a chance to order if they do not live by a B&M.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAfter hearing from FFM when the holiday roolout was, I planned to wait till then to shop.
ReplyDeleteThat lasted all of a day until I fell off the wagaon. I ordered a tie, shirt and shetland sweater from the sale section. Didn't need any of it, but I loved getting all three for less than $90. With the weather's cooperation I might be able to wear some of the fall items I've been waiting to try for the past month.
Now time to practice self control and lay off the spending. Wish me luck.
kater,
ReplyDeleteThe crewnecks weren't on sale:( The associate wanted to know who was helping you when I asked about the $99 b/c she checked and they are $168
Julie
um - there was a big sign on the table that said they were 99. I SWEAR it said cardis, crewnecks, and vnecks.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she wasn't aware of the promotion and it's not the computer? I know that last night my lucille rang up at original price when the girl just scanned it in.
I really would call back...and tell her to look at the sign where they are displayed. it's a big table up at the front of the store. Plus, that sign would be really misleading if the crews weren't included, because it was on the table where they were displayed!!!!
Let me know if I can be of any other help. The CS's there are a little snotty and not completely aware of everything all the time. Maybe ask for a manager?
jcrew guy in canada: I hope you have more willpower than me, I have ordered 3x in the last 2 weeks. I keep saying this is my last parcel for awhile but I keep on ordering. The economy is starting to scare me, so it is time to slow down.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I ask my PS at the Jcrew in Walnut street Pitt if there are anything good in the sales sections, she replies with something snotty so I was wondering if anyone knew about the sale items at that B&M?
ReplyDeletekater, I would appreciate any help...like could you call them for me b/c I was making a long distance overseas call that lasted 15 minutes...and that gets expensive...I have the packages sent to family....Thanks for offering:)
ReplyDeleteKATER,
ReplyDeleteOops..forgot to sign my name to last post to
Julie
julie: I'd be happy to call there for you, but would like to give it a couple of hours because it's lunch time here, and that tends to be one of there busiest times I think I'll have better luck finding a good SA if I wait til 2:30 or so.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the name of the person you spoke to so I know not to talk to him/her?
Kater,
ReplyDeleteYes, call when you think is best and you have the time...The gal never said her name but someone else picked up the phone while I was on hold and I heard the name Libby but I am not sure...she did go check with someone else when I questioned the price so she did seem to be checking and trying to help so she seemed just fine...
Julie
Kater,
ReplyDeleteJust a thought if you are successful with the $99 price have them put a Large, heather plum cardigan on hold for me:) I had also wanted the rosette belt in fushia with the white rose and they did have that too:) I am five hours ahead of you time wise...that is why I am suggesting the hold if we are so lucky. You are super:) Thanks.
Julie
this is just so weird julie! did she say the other cash was on sale just not the crews? it makes no sense. maybe it went off sale?
ReplyDeleteI will definitely call later...
ok wait a second - do you want a cardi or a crew? I'm confused.
ReplyDeletekater,
ReplyDeleteyes she said the other crewneck and vneck are on sale just not the cardigans:(
If it was on the table with the sign??? that is weird.
Julie
Kater,
ReplyDeleteCardigan with buttons:)
Julie
Kater, I thought in your first post you said, "cardis" and I thought that meant cardigans in cashmere...maybe I am the one confused. If so I am sooo very sorry.
ReplyDeleteJulie
Kater,
ReplyDeleteItem #97072
Julie
Kater,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry as I just reread that I typed crewneck when I meant *Cardigan*! I guess I did that b/c they are called crewneck cardigans online and I am also taking lots of allergy and cold medicine right now...I am sorry again! My mistake...but I do want a cardigan...again sorry.
Julie
Sorry, this is OT:
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone own the Seaglass Gown (item number: 93604)? How does it fit?
I'm considering buying this gown. I LOVE the Seaglass print and will be going on a cruise soon. I was thinking that maybe I could wear this for the Captain's Gala night? Other than that, I don't quite know where to wear this gown to. Does anyone have any thoughts on this dress? Where would you wear a dress like this?
I would appreciate any help on this. Thank you in advance.
Hi casual-crew what's the right zip code for returns?
ReplyDeletemontrose: It is 24502-4343 , the rest of the address is the same (25 millrace) this code just gets it to the right dept.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 12:12---
ReplyDeleteThough I respect your opinion, I must say I have never had a problem with the JCrew in Cincinnati, I found the staff to always be helpful and never to make an issue out of returns or exchanges. Obviously each customer can have a different experience, I hope your next visit is more positive!
crew girl in canada - The sea glass gown sounds great for a cruise. It looks very spring or summery so I would also wear it for a wedding if appropriate. Bridal shower? Invite your friends to lunch at a hotel and tell them to dress up too. Everyone will wonder who you all are. ;-)
ReplyDeletegigiofca,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the idea of dressing up with friends and going out to eat and everyone wondering who you are!
Julie
OT, but there's a giraffe necklace with only one horn on ebay!! Good heavens!
ReplyDeleteI am headed somewhere w/ an outlet store this weekend. I will probably pop in and see what they have.
ReplyDeleteI was at the B&M store Wed. I picked up a black and tan polka dot scarf. I wasn't loving anything else they had.
crew girl in canada,
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is beautiful on the sea glass...I don't have the dress but I have the tank.
Sorry OT but has anyone tried on the Merino lady jacket? It's online in Snow in S, M and L. Did it ever come in XS? I don't remember seeing this sweater in the store, I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it...
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone own the trouser jeans? I picked up a pair, sz2, and really like the way they fit. They were perfect in the store but now I'm worried they'll shrink in the wash. The 4 was just way too baggy in the thighs though.
ReplyDeleteAlso, is it me or are they super long? :) I think I'll have to have them hemmed at least 4 inches! Amazing!
^The length definitely shrinks in the wash, so that should help! Didn't see a huge change in the size otherwise.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone, I need some advice!! I've been eyeing this dress for the longest time:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/dresses/patternsprints/PRDOVR~93604/99101446893/93604.jsp
What do you all think? It's a pretty summer-y dress, but if I get it shortened to the knee by a tailor, it might work in the fall with a dark cardigan?
Thanks :)
anon @3:10: I have the merino lady sweater in an XS. It's sort of stretchy and the sleeves ran a little long for me so that's why I sized down to the XS. Otherwise, the small would have been fine in the torso. HTH
ReplyDeleteAnon@ 3:09:
ReplyDeleteI tried Merino Lady cardigan in S in store last week and found it to be too buggy. I am normally 4-6 or S,but definitely would need to downsize on this one. It does come in XS,but my store did not have any. The problem with the jacket for me wast the loose knit- it's knitted with large loose loops, not neat tight ones. As much as I liked it in a catalogue, I had to pass on it after I tried it on.
My sister ordered the sea gown for a summer wedding. However, if the maxi-dress sticks for next summer, you could just as well put it on with thongs to run aroound town. THe cut is casual. It is the material that makes it luxurious and dressy. If you tone that down with accessories, it is pretty wearable.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in the giraffe necklace but can anyone tell me if having a missing horn is noticeable? I haven't seen the necklace IRL. TIA!
ReplyDeletei purchased a giraffe necklace a couple weeks ago from jcrew.com, should be getting it soon, will be sure to check how many horns its got. hopefully i will like it.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about buying the Chino Cooper Jacket, I'm just not sure about the pleats in the back. Any advice? Also, where does this jacket hit?
ReplyDeleteIt should have two horns.
ReplyDeletejulie - I'm so sorry, but I just called tyson's and the cardigans are not on sale...:( I thought they were when I saw them last night, because they ARE for sure on the same table with the crew necks and vnecks, but the SA just told me they are still full price.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to have gotten you all excited, and making an overseas phone call, for nothing...:(
Went to Bethesda J Crew yesterday to return some items.
ReplyDeleteCS was superb, manager processed my rather large return with no problems and everyone was super helpful when I was looking around in the store. Ended up buying yet another pair of matchstick cords, this time in Sweet Potato. What a wonderful fall color- very subtle orange!
Got Ombre ring as well(last one in the store).
And I especially wanted to mention Velvet Ecole jacket in Navy:
Some colors of Velvet Ecole's were on sale, but not the Navy. When Ecoles first came out, I tried the tawny velvet one and it was no go for me for a multitude of reasons:
- no front buttons
- fabric is not very soft
- fit made me feel constrained in it.
Plus,I own Bella jacket from last season, and Ecole was simply no match to it. My Bella is in Welsh Purple.
Well, yesterday I came across the Navy version of Ecole and I swear it is made from the same fabric Bellas were made last year. The color is identical to Riviera ( beautuful vibrant blue) Bella and velvet is plush and soft, unlike Honey glaze or Tawny. I tried it in 4 ,fit TTS, I bought it.
End of long story!
Oh,one more thing! Although Navy Ecole was not on final sale, it was on promotion -25% off jackets.
ReplyDeleteIt still shows full price on-line though.
slastena: Congrats on the navy velvet ecole!!! I also tried the velvet ecole in all available colors and found them to be stiff and the velvet is too shiny, including the navy. Maybe you got lucky and picked up up a Bella reincarnated! Which store did you get the jacket? I love my Bella from last fall, and the ecole is just out of its league.
ReplyDeleteI got my J Crew Order canceled... again. This will be my last order I think. I am so fed up with their customer service, I cant' take it anymore.
ReplyDeleteThis Final Sale stuff is killing me!
Has anyone seen the Metallic Clea Jacket in Black? Yeah, this one is going back. I think I am opting for the Penny jacket instead. It looks so much more tweedy in the lookbook.
ReplyDeleteSlastena - sounds like you got a wonderful purchase :-) I'm so glad it's fall - today it's 56 degrees and bright sunshine, just a perfect fall day to wear a Bella jacket :-)
ReplyDeleteNow you make me want to try on an ecole :-) I wasn't going to because I have three Bellas, but they're all herringbone (I love them). Have you tried on the fall Fionas? I like the look of them, but have tried one, yet.
anon @ 3:10: I have the Merino Lady Sweater in Snow in size XS and it fits me well although I too am usually a fan of the tighter knit (like Slastena mentioned). I got it to go with my Slate colored Beaded Shoe tee (I believe that it was shown with it in the catalog). I think this this color will be versatile and go with many of my tees. HTH.
ReplyDeleteOT, but J.Crew is now charging a $10 fee for payments made online same day. In order to avoid this, you will need to schedule your payment in advance. None of my other cards charge a fee for same day payment... I'm seriously annoyed! :-(
ReplyDeleteOh, and Slastena, since I know you're a fellow Project Runway fan: Wouldn't it be a great challenge if they made the designers "create an outfit for J.Crew's next collection" and then had Drexler as a judge? I'd love to see that :-)
ReplyDeleteI have the giraffe necklace so I went to look at his horns. The ears and horns are very close to each other so that may be why seller says it isn't very noticeable if one horn is missing. It is a very distinct piece of jewelry so it depends on whether you think other would be inspecting it closely: you could always say you adopted him from a shelter and to please not mention the horn within earshot of him....
ReplyDeleteslastena: congrats on your purchases. I love the ombre ring and hope to get it next time I'm in my b&m.
ReplyDeletemaggie may: Hilarious! I love it! Thanks so much for your help.
ReplyDeleteHi Kater, does the Tyson's Corner store offer % off final sale? If so, what's the %? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI drive 1.5 hours to Cincinnati to show about once a month(our town has nada) and I have to agree with Anon 12:02 that store is blah. They really need to expand that store.
ReplyDeleteI think part of the problem is that they are hit by so many shoppers(KY, IN, and OH)and deplete the store of the good stuff early.
Same with the Anthropologie in Rookwood. There is never anything left in that store in my size.
I always have to have them order a piece when I really would like to go home with something after traveling so far:(
gigiofca: I agree, this dress would be so nice as a dress-up dress for a wedding, shower or evening going out to dressy dinner with a bunch of girls.
ReplyDeleteShoegal: I really like your idea of shortening the dress.
I ended up ordering it. Hopefully it won't get cancelled on me. My intent is to wear it formal length for the cruise and then shorten it when the maxi is no longer in style. I can definitely see this as a knee length dress topped off with either a pretty cardigan or even a jacket for the office.
tyson's has additional 20% off final sale right now...:)
ReplyDeletehey there Kater - I don't think I've caught whether you got your Bella from the Phillippines yet, and if so, how do you like it?
ReplyDeleteI went to the B&M store in Rockafeller Center last weekend and got my husband TONS of amazing stuff. They are having a secret sale in cord jackets ($99 instead of $138) too. We picked up two Clayton chino jackets (one beige & one gray) both 40% FS, two pairs of Relaxed-fit broken-in chinos (both 40% off FS too), a bunch of cashmere argyle vest (brown and gray argyle 40% off FS), and a great cashmere thin-stripe V-neck sweater also 40% off. I don't know whether they have any left, but we got lots of great stuff!
ReplyDeleteI just wish they wouldn't cancel all my online orders though....
hi la belle!
ReplyDeleteI did get the bella from the phillipines, and it's awesome! EXACTLY like my black herringbone in terms of lining, buttons, etc. Also, all the buttons were still wrapped in tissue, and a tag and extra button were attached. And it came SUPER fast. Took exactly a week from the day I paid for it.
I love it, it's perfect, and I currently wear it around my house because it's still too warm here.
I wore my azalea one yesterday for the first time since last fall - fell in love with it all over again :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope the Holiday collection is sublime. I've been so disappointed in the fall stuff so far - just bought some 120s items, and a couple of tees. While I do like the plum color, it's too bad they don't have anything like last year's awesome azalea color.
la belle: I'm so jealous of your azalea one! The two I still really want are azalea herringbone and riviera velvet. sigh...
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've gone a little crazy this fall, although I agree that Paris was better. The other thing is - I really love honey glaze, and like some of the oranges too. So that kind of did me in...:)
According to my online PS, holiday is going to be fab, with lots of ruffles and bows! I can hardly wait!
Kater - it's great when a color really has personal appeal, isn't it? That's how I felt last fall with azalea, and iris. Yellows and oranges aren't so much in my spectrum of use, so that probably explains why fall 08 hasn't rung my bell. I love the look of the Lucille jacket, and if it came in azalea or violet, oh lala....:-)
ReplyDeleteha la belle! I just bought the lucille in the orange color last night! I love it. It's so fantastic, and not as "orange" as some have said.
ReplyDeleteThere's a velvet Bella bidding at 99 cents on ebay today. I'm not the seller but given the interest in the bella on this blog, I thought some of you might want to know.
ReplyDeleteDo any stores have more than 20% off final sale this weekend?
ReplyDeletekater: ruffles and bows?! My cc could be in trouble! :)
ReplyDeleteI know math teacher! this is what my PS wrote, after I told her about my love for all things girly:
ReplyDeleteam excited about our holiday collection! Our November catalog will
introduce part of our holiday line and more will follow in December. If
you like bows and ruffles you won't want to miss our new silk ruffle camis! Both are pictured in the catalog
that should come out at the end of October.
Anyone has a bella jacket size 0P they want to part with? I am looking for one. I have the bella coat size 2 or 4, but it's just too big for me. I love the bella style in general, just wish the bella coat I have would fit me... :(
ReplyDeleteOh also, I went to final sale section of the website and couldn't find the black velvet bella size 8 that Anna was mentioning. I would love to get that one for my mom... As a matter of fact, I haven't seen any bellas listed in the final sale section last week at all... :( what happened?
HariboBear: what is the color of your size 2 bella? I am interested.
ReplyDeleteIt's the bella coat, the color is ivory...
ReplyDeleteHere is the picture of it.. http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/double-faced-wool-bella-coat
same exact color...
Thanks, HariboBear.
ReplyDeleteI did not read carefully and thought you had a bella jacket...
Does anyone have the J Crew Stadium Cloth Dani Peacoat? Do you like it or love it? Also, can you tell me how it fits? Does it fit to the true size? thanks :)
ReplyDeleteoh btw, happy friday to everyone!
oh, boy, kater - can't wait to see the catalog! I hope our stores get everything in that we want to try on. :D Or, maybe I shouldn't wish that on our wallets!!
ReplyDeleteHariboBear - are you looking to sell your Bella coat? If so, how much?
ReplyDeleteHey all, just wondering if anyone knows how thick the Heavy-wool piqué Felicia coat is. The name is "heavy-wool", but the description says that it's perfect for fall.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering :) Thanks!
Anon at 3:55 pm:
ReplyDeleteI went to Chevy Chase/Wisconsin store.
Today, after I got home I ran upstairs and did a blind test on the quality of velvet on my Bella and new Navy Ecole. Maybe I am going crazy, but to my hands they felt the SAME.
Anon at 3:59 pm:
ReplyDeleteI bought and returned Metallic Houndstooth jacket as well. Too expensive and I changed my mind after I saw tons of similar items at Nordstrom for the half price. Just nothing special to justify the spending. If it goes on sale, and I do not get smth similar before that, I might reconsider.
Are any J. Crew stores still doing 40% off sale items, or all they all back to 20%?
ReplyDeleteloveinlife, the Felicia is not that heavy - I'd say it's a good fall coat, I just wore it out to dinner here (it's about 47 out - yikes!) and it was sufficient. I'll probably wear it into early December.
ReplyDeleteLa belle helene:
ReplyDeleteDefinitely give an Ecole a 2nd thought. I am gald I did.
I have tried wool Fionas and really liked them, had to downsize for a better fit. Tried with wide belt as pictured in catalogue and liked it as well. However, I have accumulated too many jackets at this point and yet too wear any, so I might wait. Although it is a beautiful jacket, indeed.
Your idea for a PR project is splendid! If they did smth like that I know I would be glued to the screen. They did it for BR some seasons ago, so why not for J Crew?
Also, I thought anon's comment re: our discussion of PR was very rude. It does not take much blog time/space and kind of dilutes intensity a little bit as any other off topic conversation. Oh, well, rude people are rude people.
Kater :
ReplyDeletecongrats on Lucille! I am so glad it came down in price. May be I should get ornage now since I aleady have a mustard one.
I stopped by my local B&M (Garden State Plaza in NJ). I bought the lucille coat on sale with an additional 20% off. On a side note, they had the first roll out for the holiday season. Very cute stuff, including a set of metallic handbags that were just gorgeous (I got two, even though they were a little steep at $225)...see http://fabsugar.com/1862850. I also purchased a pair of white herringbone metallic pants which should be really cute for the holidays ($168, much cheaper than the silvered tweed pants). Also, I know someone had mentioned that they were expanding this store. I asked the store manager and he said they will be making the extension a 2 floor men's store (I guess like the one in NY) and the current store will be expanded to include collection items and crewcuts. So I'm very excited about that. He also said the next round of holiday items will be at this store in 3 weeks...way cool!!!
ReplyDeleteI think its interesing that Anon 5:49pm got the ecole for 40% off for $79. I got the velvet ecole yesterday at a b&m for 20% off of 89.99, which is $72. And its not on sale on the website! Such pricing inconsistencies make me leary of final sale items! Its like I have to do extensive research to make sure I'm getting a fair deal.
ReplyDeleteOn another note- I have the merino lady jacket in charcoal and it is a chunkier knit. I love it! It looks great with an orange or red tee and jeans! I think the snow is a little dressier.
loveinlife: I have the Felicia and bought it for winter. It's definitely a coat I wouldn't wear until it was below 50 degrees or so ... and I plan on wearing it in weather down into the lower 30's. I noticed the website said "fall" as well, but IMO it's too heavy for fall ... I guess it depends on where you live and how cold it gets, though! :)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI am new to this site - silly question but when people refer to "B&M" what are they talking about?
ReplyDeleteAlso does anyone have any additional sale info for Rhode Island stores? Thanks!
Has anyone tried on the Lucille coat? How does it fit? I am interested since it's on sale but slightly put off since I can't try it on.
ReplyDeletejennifer: welcome! B&M stands for "brick and mortar" physical store.
ReplyDeleteanon @ 10:29: I sized down in the Lucille and many others in past posts have commented that they've done the same. If you're in between sizes, definitely size down. HTH!
What colors of the Ecole are marked down to 89.99? TIA!!
ReplyDeletejcrew fanatic: thanks for the inside scoop on the garden state mall! I was just there a week ago and I noticed the expansion but didn't see it until after I had left the store, so I was wondering what it could be. I'm also glad to know about the new items - it sounds like there are some great finds!
ReplyDeleteharibobear: I had the stadium cloth Dani peacoat (the shorter version) last year and found it to be a bit wide; so you'd probably have to size down one for this piece. Also, the fabric is so thick and comfy, it makes it perfect for colder weather. The collar's quite sizeable; if you're on the petite size, it might overpower you a little bit.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, though, I love that peacoat!
I just wanted to chime in on the sea glass gown discussion -- I was so in love with this dress online, but when I tried it on I was really disappointed with the way the fabric falls. It's hard to see in the shots on the model, you can see it a bit better just on the mannequin, but the tiers are much more obvious than I expected, and just look a bit strange/unflattering. The shortening idea is cool, though, and might affect the way it hangs if there is less fabric. It's certainly at a good discount anyway!
ReplyDeleteDrewablank: Thank you so much for the tip. I am petite, and normally wear P0 or P2 in Jcrew size. What caught my attention was the size of the collar. I think it makes the peacoat stand out. The only thing concern me is the width of the coat... well we'll see if I can even get a hold of this peacoat. Seems like no one want to part with it :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 8:46 PM: I am thinking about selling the Bella coat since it has been in my closet since I got it... Even though I am still in love with it, if you offer a reasonable price, I will be willing to sell it.
b&m = brick and mortar store, as opposed to jcrew.com :)
ReplyDeleteHi Allison,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughts on the sea glass gown. The price was too good for me to pass up so I got it yesterday. I was just wondering how tall you are? I am 5'10" so I am hoping it if very flattering on me. I did notice the teirs before I ordered it.
3 P.M. CEST- The velvet Bella is showing up in final sale! Size 2 leaf, size 8 black. Item 85794 or http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/blazers/jackets/PRDOVR~85794/99101247106/85794.jsp
ReplyDeleteRegarding the velvet ecole- brown, honey glaze and rhubarb were on sale for 89.99 yesterday with 20% off sale(at my b&m in Atlanta).
ReplyDeleteI just called Boston J Crew. They are 20% off final sale this weekend, no 40% off like last weekend.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 12:02 PM. I agree with you about your comments about the Cincinnati store. I'm not impressed with the service. I miss the PS who left, Marlin, she was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSlastena: I love the velvet Ecole in navy. I have been waiting for it to go on sale a bit more since I already have the ecole in honey glaze. When I tried it on few weeks ago I thought it could be great for the holiday season. This particular color makes it more dressy for me. Congratulations on your purchase!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the giraffe necklace without a horn - I think it is noticable. I have one without the ear (long story) from e-bay (no warning from the seller). I kept it as is because I was tired of trying to get it. At this point I don't really care if somebody notices the missing ear or not but if I had a choice I would definitely wait for the one without any flaws. Even if I had to pay more money for it.
Sky, thanks!:)
ReplyDeleteI remember your story about on ear giraffe.:)
Anon @ 5:04 am -- good point, I am 5'5". Congrats on the purchase and I hope it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteDRESSES TOPIC:
ReplyDeleteI found an item very similar to jcrew Italian deco-print rollneck silk dress 96519 (retails for $350!)
It's a polyester rayon Ponte skirt (Ann Taylor loft item) featured in In Style Magazine on page 362 for $59. It doesn't have a pattern that's as interesting as jcrew dress but it has the same color combination and it's really cute. I am probably going to go to the store to get it (I can't find it online!!!)
Elma
There are so many items in the B&M near me that I have yet to see online. They told me that it was their first holiday rollout. Wow, loads of pretty things. Had to buy a few to be happy.
ReplyDeleteanon 5:56 Care to elaborate? Do you remember what the colors were same as fall?
ReplyDeleteThis is a little OT, but I placed an order over the phone for the first time today (I had multiple gift cards to use) and I have yet to receive a confirmation email. Has anyone been experiencing long waits between orders and confirmation emails? The CSR that I got on the phone seemed to be working from home (she was using the website to place my order). It has been over 10 hours since I placed my order....
ReplyDeletelauren h: sometimes my emails come right away, and sometimes it takes around 24 hours. I don't know what the difference is. In fact, my last order came on Thursday, and the shipping email came Friday.
ReplyDeletemath teacher: You're right...I think my last order came 3 days before my "Your item has shipped" email. I think I'm just paranoid about actually receiving my item b/c of the whole web fiasco.
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren h,
ReplyDeleteI totally understand your feelings. Usually confirmation email will be sent to you within 24 hours. But last time I placed an order, it took several days before I got an email because the item was sold out online and J.Crew needed to locate the item in my size. If you don't get it next day, you might want to call again to make sure. Good luck!
The discount of the store near my place is back down to 20%. But I found Floral-ruffle Astrid jacket (item 96281 $285 online) at $140 w/t additional 20% discount. It is cute with jeans but store director told me that we can wear it as a suit with Double-serge pencil skirt (item 96477) in deep persimmon (they are made with same fabric). Though I did not buy as I don't have any occation to wear bright color suits, it was cute.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know about if the extra 40% off sale will come back? Last Sunday was the last day (Sept 28), and it's back to 20% now. I love shopping the J.Crew sales, but want to hold out on the extra 40% off if it comes back soon!
ReplyDeletestopped by the jcrew outlet in Camarillo, ca. Usually I don't purchase items in jcrew outlets, but today I saw their bella herringbone and was actually very pleased with it! It comes in camel, orange, grey, and black. Came and orange were so cute, I ended up getting it in orange. It comes fully lined and the quality is very close to the herringbone fiona in the stores now, if not the same. After their 40% off promotion plus my educator's discount, brought home my bella for $98. Yeepee!!!
ReplyDeleteI got the grey belle skirt, and the lucille in orange.
ReplyDeleteThe lucille fitted true to size for me, but my limiting factor is the chest area. I had to size down for the Andrea jacket.
lauren: Confirmation emails can take up to 24 hrs to arrive, this has happened to me and I have not had any problems (lately).
ReplyDeleteWhen the cc gets charged you receive the shipping email, even though the parcel has shipped out. This happened to me this week I called and this was the explanation I received.
I have noticed that is is taking JC longer to ship, my last parcel took 6 days to ship from the warehouse and it was a fp item with high inventory.
Overall my last 6 orders in the last 7 weeks have been very good.
Naomi, What store did they have the floral astrid in for that price? Do you know if they had a size 10? I would have to call from overseas but if it's there at that price I want one...
ReplyDeleteJulie
Ok, I finally got my confirmation email. Woo hoo! This will be my last purchase for a while...
ReplyDeleteThe San Diego Fashion Valley J. Crew has quite a few velvet ecoles on sale in the chocolate/papaya colors. I only saw them in small sizes.
ReplyDeleteThe selection at this particular store is normally dismal and today was no exception, but I'm happy since I was able to get a velvet ecole, a high waisted denim skirt and a pair of jelly flats all in my size and all for $115 (before tax; tax brought my total to 120-something).
Yes, they did allow me to apply the educator's discount to all my items despite the fact that they were all sale items!

Julie:
ReplyDeleteThe shop is Carmel-by-the-Sea CA (Tel: 831 624 2803). There were a couple of Floral-ruffle Astrid jackets. Shop assistants are very kind and I am sure that they will help you to find your size. Sales price was $175 and should be $140 if 20% additional discount is available. HTH!
I went to an outlet today (we were out of town where an outlet was located). It was my second visit to an outlet. I actually found some brown tweed dress pants, two casual 3/4 sleeve shirts and a super cute coat/sweater. It is black w/ tulip sleeves. I got a great price on it. Hubby found some stuff as well. Will probably be another year before I get to an outlet but it was worth stopping by!
ReplyDeleteJulie, call Indianapolis store 317-848-2739. They had the Astrid jacket in size 10 w/the ruffle pockets yesterday. There were two more smaller sizes can't remember what, though. Good luck
ReplyDeleteJulie- I have the Astrid in 10, just got it in tonight! ($140) Please contact me immediately.
ReplyDeleteRachelle
Anony@9:38 Just called IN. No astrid 10 left:( I will try CA when they open...
ReplyDeleteJulie
I live in the Dallas area and I went to several J Crews over the weekend. By far the J Crew w/ the best final sale selection was the Southlake store. Several navy pea coats, marino sweaters in various colors and summer shirts. Also looked liked they had quite a few jeans. There were not a lot sale items at the Galleria, Northpark or Willowbend. All stores were back at a 20% discount:(
ReplyDeleteCA had the floral ruffle Astrid but I about choked when they want almost $16 for shipping!
ReplyDeleteI have ordered from NY and NC and been charged $8 and $5.99 respectively.
Julie
Naomi,
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to live near Carmel, CA...is the JCrew really by the sea...that would be so fun to shop if that is true!
You are right they do have great customer service people there! They had a problem with my CCard/P.O. Box wouldn't enter or something for my US address...anyway they got it to work and let me have the reduced flat rate shipping I am used to from the SC store! The manager did say all stores are supposed to use the JCrew online shipping charge scale and she is going to look into that for other stores...sorry everyone! I guess this was implemented 2 years ago! Wow! I wonder if the online/downgrade/upgrade will go that long with mix ups, inconsistencies!
Thanks a ton Naomi!
Julie:
ReplyDeleteYou're more than welcome! I am sooo glad to hear that you got a floral ruffle Astrid!
OMG $16 for shipping!? The shop offers free shipping for full-price items when we order, but I didn't know that we have to pay shipping costs for sales items...
Anyway, congrats on your great purchase!
PS: The Carmel shop is located literally by the sea, we can not swim though:)
