"Thanks!" to Maggie May who shared with us J.Crew's latest email, which reminds us (click here) of the offer to get 20% off your first purchase when you open a J.Crew credit card. This offer expires 10/26/08.
The email's subject line- "Treat yourself (with the J.Crew Credit Card)"- made me smile since I don't consider opening a credit card as "treating myself". If I do decide to treat myself, it will be purchasing the Victoria ruffle shirt at full retail price (or more realistically, eating Chips Ahoy Chunky Chocolate cookies while watching reruns of the Gilmore Girls). ;)
aww
ReplyDeletei am so with you on the chips ahoy
and gilmore girls
it'd be nice if they gave the 20pc off any time you used your jcrew card ... : )

Carmen: I couldn't agree more on the giving a percent off for each purchase when using a J.Crew credit card. I think that would be a much better incentive to get a card. :)
ReplyDeleteI <3 Gilmore Girls. :-D
ReplyDeleteanyone getting your reward cards for the past quarter?
ReplyDeleteI'll third that! I always wanted to live in Stars Hollow (and raid their closets while I'm at it!) I SO miss that show...
ReplyDeletehe he - I just got the email! I still don't think that I will "treat" myself and open a j.crew card. :)
ReplyDeleteMarta: I love the Gilmore Girls too!
ReplyDeleteRatsonparade: I too want to live in Stars Hollow!!! It's too bad its a fictional town in CT, because I so would have moved there! ;)
I actually did receive this email earlier today, too. J.Crew is really pushing this promo...when I was in the B&M on Sunday, I heard the SA ask one of the customers if she wanted to open one and save 20%...I believe she said no. They don't even ask me, as I've already told them I don't have a J.Crew card and don't plan to open one. ;)
ReplyDeleteChips Ahoy and GG sound like my idea of a great Girl's Night. :) It reminds me of when I was in college and my suite would gather together every Tuesday night to watch. I miss those times!
ReplyDeleteWow, real big of you JCrew, 20% off when you open a credit card.....Macys etc have been doing this for years. I'm so annoyed with JCrew corporate right now. First all the website crap and now stupid promotions that aren't "aware" (for lack of a better word) of the current global economic situation...sure raise the minimum from $100 to $175 for free shipping! I mean, are they living on the same planet as the rest of us?
ReplyDeleteratsonparade: that picture is one of the funniest things I've ever seen (the animal with the egg on its head). I even showed it to my husband.
ReplyDeleteI JUST opened a card account a few days ago and got 10% off my first purchase. I'm annoyed that just days later they're offering 20.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is really tempting. I didn't realize 20% off was a higher discount than normal. Then again, I could easily see myself losing control and saying "I'll have one of everything, just put it on my card!" One can dream.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be nice if they would allow Canadians to have cards too.. I've got one with Macy's & I know Victoria's Secret also gives them to Canadians.. Come on Jcrew!
ReplyDeleteIf they offered a discount off every purchase made with your J. Crew card (or even some purchase), I'd be in serious trouble!

ReplyDeleteI plan on opening a Crew card, but that's down the iine. I'm planning on sticking to my financial plan because it's working. Hopefully they will have another one of these promos because when I am ready I'll definitely take advantage of it.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the Macy's promo is better because the discount is good for 2 or 3 days.
Ok since we are all dreaming of what we would like our incentive to be... How about open a J Crew card now and receive 20% off ANY purchase through December 31st? Now that might actually get me to apply! And you bet I would be doing my Christmas shopping @ J Crew!!
ReplyDeleteTwiga
I've got the same email today. For people who can not make credit cards (ex; students, foreign residents), these promos are really frustrating...If J.Crew has a customer database, I want J.Crew to chose right targets before sending promo email.
ReplyDeleteChocolate chip cookies sound great. Unfortunately, no credit card offers for Canadians. One day I hope we'll stop being second class J.Crew citizens.
ReplyDeleteI got the email, but it's big old tease for me.
J Crew does offer cards to Canadians I have one. I live in Vancouver and shop in Seattle and online often.
ReplyDeleteCan you combine this with other offers i.e. free shipping or discount codes?
ReplyDeleteCredit cards = credit problems = credit mess. Way to go j.crew, keep pushing the problem...20%? That will hardly make a dent in the purchases, as your clothes are heavily overpriced this season....Cash is king, ladies! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think 20% is really that great, considering most of the time you can get the stuff on sale and then it's more like 50% off.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, I already have a J Crew card. I like to call in orders to a retail now and then, and prefer not to give out my regulard credit card number due to fraud issues. I feel safer as J Crew merchandise isn't as easy to resell as gift certificates from a store. Plus even a little reward every 3 months is more certain than the dubious rewards I get from my regular credit card.
Apparently JCrew seems to think a one-time 20% off makes up for all the other non-perks. Don't drink the Kool-Aid kids.
ReplyDeleteHow about working on increasing the perks for current customers rather than trying to induce more suckers? My apologies for the negativity, but JCrew corporate is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth lately.
What I would like is the same discount to be offered on a one time basis to existing card members to "thank us" for our loyalty!
ReplyDeleteOT: I recvd the Georgia dress in blue and posted a pic. I also recvd the bauble necklace from Ann Taylor and updated that post.
ReplyDeleteI have recvd a few other final sale items that I will post quick blurbs about in the next 48 hrs. I'll try to do it as quick as I can.
gigiofca - your post about the Georgia dress makes me want to buy the dress!!
ReplyDeleteFunny because starting last month, that's exactly what Banana Republic did. Limited time only %20 of BR cards. hmmm...
ReplyDeleteI never recieved this offer, and I recieve alot of JCrew e-mails. I would be tempted to open one just for the 20%. I would love for JC to do a survery program like Gap and BR, I loved getting the chance to give my "two cents" and the discount! As always, I am disappointed in the lack of benefits from a JC card. I hope I get that e-mail just so I can purchase the Victoria cami and the penny blazer on discount.
