Happy Halloween everyone!!! Remember in elementary school getting to dress up, march in a parade, and have a party because it was Halloween? What great times! :) I loved seeing all my teachers dress up for Halloween too- back then (the 80's), it usually consisted of a Cosby-esque orange sweater (you know what I am talking about!) and khakis that went up pre-tty high on the waist. ;)
So I thought in honor of Halloween, it might be fun to have a post on what we plan on wearing today. :)
Although I won't be wearing an actual costume, I am still dressing up for Halloween. I intend on wearing my "sweet potato" Herringbone Fiona jacket (Item 96553; Regular: $198.00) and my "dark fern" perfect-fit long-sleeve crewneck tee (item 97705, $24.50), along with a pair of Gap Khaki trousers and brown Kingston suede driving mocs (Item 90372). I will slightly resemble a pumpkin- but hopefully a stylish pumpkin! ;)
What are you planning to wear this Halloween ? Are you planning to go "head to toe" J.Crew or parts J.Crew?
I think my black and orange striped silk Clea ballet flats fit the bill. Happy trick or treating!
ReplyDeleteErm, I think I might just treat it like an other day. Besides, I don't own anything orange . . .
ReplyDeleteI hadn't even thought about it until you mentioned it. Hmm...instead of the blue suit i was thinking to wear, i think i'll wear my cashmere rosette cardigan with brown wool pants. :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, I'll wear either my fresh tangerine piazza cardigan or my orange v-neck cashmere cable sweater along with black pants and my Tula zebra calf hair flats. Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteGood idea,
ReplyDeleteSpecial occasion for my sweet potato fiona.... It's going to rain tomorrow so I am going to wear my wellies as well :)
I didn't think of this. I have been thinking about my chocolate brown boot cut cords from last year. So maybe that with something... We finally have rain here.
ReplyDeleteI actually made a polyvore set for my outfit! Seen
ReplyDeletehere.
I will also probably add my black EMS vest over it because it is supposed to be about 60 tomorrow. I am pretty excited. I love wearing orange and I don't get to do it enough!
Oh, I forgot! We did trick-or-treating tonight in our town, so I totally forgot that tomorrow is the day! Hmm, I guess I could go all Halloweeny and wear my coral Herringbone Bella. I can put my Heather Graphite Dream Turtleneck under it and wear my chocolate brown Fave Fit Trouser Cords on the bottom. Shoes? Probably my Cole Haan tortoiseshell 3-inch Peep-Toe MJ's.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun post! :-)

OT - Saw the Rivington kitten heel boot for $149.99 in Walnut Creek. Not sure if it was an additional 30% off.
ReplyDeleteHi, I am an avid reader and fan of JCrew. I am just wondering why so many times lately the JCrew site goes down for maintenance without warning? This is the 3rd time over the last month where I am just minutes away from ordering, and the message appears - and then the shopping bag contents typically disappear as well. I hope that eventually, I'll be able to order at least a few things... If anyone has any input let me know.
ReplyDeletePembridge-dot pencil skirt (Item 99737; $148.00)
ReplyDeleteItalian Deco tank (Item 97338: $148.00 select colors $99.99)
Crystal-button colorblock cardigan (item 96233; was $118.00 select colors $89.99
I'm going as Mrs. Obama. :P
i made totoro costumes for me and my wife since our daughter's favorite movie is "my neighbor totoro"
ReplyDeleteOur school colors are (gag) orange and black (who did that!?) so I've resembled a Halloween pumkin many times (we are encouraged to wear school colors during spirit week and important games), not just during Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI have some corny pumpkin earrings that even high school students love, an orange cashmere sweater and trousers to wear today, and will be bringing lots of treats to distribute during my classes.
Happy Halloween, everyone!

ReplyDeleteI will be taking my little ones out tonight trick or treating. One is going as a blues brother and the other as obi wan kenobi from star wars. I will be wearing my Black puffer vest, matchstick jeans, lofty offwhite sweater, the black and white regatta tee shirt and a pumkin colored scarf.
ReplyDeleteIf I owned the Rose Tee (black,) with an orange cashmere cardigan and black chinos, this outfit would be perfect for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...hadn't even thought of it until seeing this post, which IS very fun, btw...wish I had the J.Crew Optical Print Jacket or Optical Print Mini!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning!! Happy Halloween! I am so glad this day is finally here because my 5 year old twin boys have been driving me CRAZY asking when it's going to be Halloween!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I've got a parade and party at their Kindergarten class this afternoon, so I'll be wearing my orange Piazza sweater jacket, a black and white pencil stripe perfect fit tank, almost black matchsticks, and black ballet flats.
Trick or treat!
OT when items are backlisted what are the odds of getting them? I want a double serge pencil skirt alas they are gone.
ReplyDeleteNo j.crew for me today. I'm dressed as a football player (complete with shoulder pads and black marks under my eyes) in honor of my school's halloween costume contest. It's always fun to get in the spirit of a holiday along with the students :)
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing an orange ribbed sweater with button cuffs from Martin + Osa with my dark high heel flairs from J. Crew with brown boots from Nine West. It's casual day at work today. :)
ReplyDeleteBlack Favorite Fit Tank
ReplyDeleteDistressed Vintage Slim Jean
Black Madison Boots
Black Glass Bead Ribbon Necklace
Orange Cashmere Keepsake Cardi
We had Trick or Treat last night and this is what I wore to the school Halloween party during the day and then to hand out candy at my mom's last night.
My office is having a little Halloween humor with my boss, we are all dressed up as him…so I have on my jcrew broken-in khakis (it still is Friday), jcrew white button up shirt, and one of my husband's ties. It is quite funny, because one of the developers also created masks made from a picture of the boss.
ReplyDeleteBlack top and skirt
ReplyDeletePumpkin color cami
Deep orangish super soft tights
black (tall) boots...just a hint of Halloween...
Nothing is from JCrew though...stuff I bought here in the U.K.
lyssa,
ReplyDeleteWish I could see your boss's face! Give us an update please later...sounds so fun and I am assuming everyone knows your boss has a great sense of humor!
Not J Crew today. I will wear a burnt orange turtleneck sweater that I wear every Halloween. I thought about wearing my deep persimmon (its sort of orangey!) ruffle cardi but its turned colder here so I need a warmer sweater!
ReplyDeleteBlack ribbed sweater w. chain belt, white jeans, pumpkin necklace! happy halloween!
ReplyDeleteOk I realize this is TOTALLY OT, but does anyone own the city tee cardigan in the dark fog color with the gem like buttons? It's not the brand new one that just came out with the bows on the pockets, this in fact has no pockets, but does have a grosgrain bow on the neck opening. I recently bought this and LOVE it, but I don't know how to style it. I have looked through the past 4 catalogs and can't find it in any of them. Was this not featured in a catalog? I don't think it comes in any other colors either, what's up with this cardi?! I was looking for ideas on how to wear it, anyone have any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI'm going into the office as a slob today. Wearing an old university hoodie and black jean-like pants (but the pants are made out of some sort of fuzzy material).....I could have gone all out and worn yoga pants and flip flops, but not too many people are dressing up, unfortunately.
ReplyDeletecute outfit, alexis! definitely a stylish pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteNo Jcrew for me today but my friend who I work with and I decided to dress alike as "the Lynn Twins" (our middle name). We are wearing a white button up, black sweater vest, jeans, black peep toe pumps and both painted our nails Black Cherry Chutney by OPI. It's fun.
ReplyDeleteLyssa, that's hilarious! Please post photos if possible. :)
ReplyDeleteFun topic! I did think about it being Halloween as I got dressed this morning and wanted to wear something it the spirit of the holiday.
ReplyDeleteI went green and black with a splash of orange. Donegal Tweeed Ecole in Evergreen with with black cashmere T underneath and belted with skinny black patent belt. Bootcut jeans and Specatator Peep Toe Mary Janes in ember and stone-bead necklace in avocado.
Man, how sad am I? The only J.Crew I'm wearing is the belt. Mavi jeans and a Rugby shirt with Adidas just don't cut it in this post. I should have read it before getting dressed and coming to work.
ReplyDeleteI'll just be wearing an back long sleeve t-shirt from Banana and my dark indigo wash Matchstick jeans!
ReplyDeleteSince I'm going to be out in the rain for the parade at the kids' school, I'll be wearing a bright pink T-neck and jeans, but this evening, before the Trick or Treaters come (and when I brave the rain again!), I'll try to pair my orange Candace jacket with something...I have these cool orange Kamik boots which are fun to match with 'em! No problem seeing me in the dark!
ReplyDeleteleanne: I would love to see your Totoro costumes! My DD loves Totoro too, but I wish I was talented enough to make one :)...
Nothing to do with Halloween, but still almost head to toe Crew:
ReplyDeleteWhite Kelly shirt
Sparkle Plaid Tweed pencil skirt
Champagne chiffon bow city tee
skinny black patent belt
black patent heels
champagne double-strand pearl necklace
Happy Halloween everyone!
Yesterday (Thursday) the Dallas Galleria had two XS rose tees (one black and one champagne) in stock. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOK, so i ended up wearing a black suit -- it's so formal here -- and to keep in the spirit, I wore the primrose cardigan in orange rather than the boring collared shirt i might have worn. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alexis. This is a fun post which brought about a fun day to an otherwise conventional (staid :) ) one.
Thanks for the reminder! Good thing I stocked up on just about everything orange from the last 2 seasons. Some more ideas from today's sale rack in case you stop by the store:
ReplyDelete-Dream shirred tunic sweater in cayenne
-Cashmere rosette in either dark carrot (back online) or cantaloupe
-cashmere tee, v-neck, or turtleneck in orange or cantaloupe
-Sweet potato ecole blazer or academy pants
-Pumpkin uptown tote
-Merino lady jacket in heather charcoal paired with any of the above for extra warmth
Also, there are some adorable sale items back online this morning from past seasons: purple/orange/black printed umbrella, leather bow gloves in dark green, Mini Carnaby carryall,
spotted cat calf-hair gloves, pink/navy/citron cashmere striped scarf, and argyle grey/green/citron scarf.
Happy Halloween!
$5 Old Navy Halloween tee and huge black witch hat, of course.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to a costume party tonight as Holly Golightly(Audrey Hepburn) from Breakfast at Tiffany's. My inspiration for this was actually a black wool shift dress that I have from J.Crew's fall '07 collection. Completing my costume is: long cigarette holder, tiara, long black gloves, big black sunglasses, and multi-string pearl necklace.
ReplyDeleteI finally have a chance to wear my sweet potato Fiona! With jeans, a brown tee, and brown boots :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!
Sorry to go off topic, but does anyone know who the model is in the green pants? She's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat's Inguna Butane in the green pants.
ReplyDeleteNot wearing J Crew today. Here is a "treat" though! :-) Was told by Crew CS that the new holiday catalog would be in home 11/8/08 and online by the end of next week too! I seem to remember there being an "extra" catalog during the holidays. My source hasn't been incorrect yet so let's keep fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteI was told last night while placing a presale order that the spring collection will be a lot of pastels! Yeah!
ReplyDeleteKat - I don't know why I didn't think of a brown top underneath the Fiona. This will sound like jr. high, but think I'm going to change clothes! I ended up in the green l/s cashmere tee, plaid scarf and the navy peplum cord jacket. Not Halloween at all.
ReplyDeleteGap jeans with my Happy Halloween black/orange tee, J. Crew Jackie cardigan in black and my black cat pin!
ReplyDeleteOrange Lucille!
ReplyDeleteBTW, the coats are getting shipped to the retail stores, so the Madeline is another 30% off (making it about $150?)
No Halloween for me hthis year!! Philly won the world series so I'll be wearing a Phillies tshirt, rock and republic jeans, JCrew white tissue tee, ballet flats, and cream puffer vest....GO PHILLIES!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI went to work as Joan from Mad Men. I actually was going to wear the pumpkin Kate dress, which I recently ordered, but it didn't arrive in time. :( So, I had to wear a curvy, black boatneck day dress with a bow belt that I already had. Still very Joan, but it would've been nice to wear my new dress!
ReplyDeleteSparkle tweed pencil skirt + skinny gold belt, black slim stretch shirt and wool-blend ribbed tights in "rust." (I'm giving a lecture).
ReplyDeleteI like your subtle homage to Halloween, Alexis. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I woke up this morning, the weather led me to change up my outfit. Instead of my earlier idea, I wore the Stretch Wool Favorite Fit Stretch Wool Trouser in Heather Carbon, the Merino Trés Rosette Tank in Heather Graphite and last year's Wool Herringbone Bella Jacket in Heather Coral. It garnered lots of compliments, and I find the coral to be such a flattering shade - moreso than the pumpkin heather they had out this year. I was not head-to-toe Crew, as I also wore my beautiful Stuart Weitzman patent leather boots. I felt both holiday-festive as well as very pulled together and chic. Shades of orange are so popular and acceptable these days - almost everyone I worked with was wearing some variation on the orange theme. Fun topic, Alexis!
ReplyDeleteFSW
Alexis: Thank you for posting this topic. I like to hear about how you wear J.Crew items:) Honestly, I was planning to return my Herringbone Fiona (sweet potato), but your comment made me rethink. Maybe I will wear it next Halloween!
ReplyDeleteAlexis,
ReplyDeleteLove your Halloween outfit. How are the Kingston mocs? I've been debating getting some. Are they comfortable? Do they have enough support for walking around all day?
Thanks!
Everyone: Thanks for sharing your great outfits! :)
ReplyDeleteJennifer: The mocs are quite nice and comfortable for the most part. In particular, I do need to wear trouser socks (stockings) with them, otherwise they can create blisters. I can't say they are super comfortable to wear every day for all day, but they are comfortable compared to J.Crew flats. I hope this helps. :)
