It sounds like some J.Crew stores are offering an additional savings once customers purchase a certain amount...
kitchy7 (in the post "J.Crew Stores: Take Additional 30-40% Off Final Sale") shared with us that: "The Michigan Ave store in Chicago is not only offering 30% off final sale items, but they're also offering 20% off your entire purchase if you spend $150!"
Jackie also shared with us that "the J.Crew store in Friendship Heights all final sale items were 30% off-- PLUS, any purchase totaling over $100 received an additional 20% off!"
First, "thanks!" to both kitchy7 and Jackie for sharing that {super exciting} news with us. Second, depending on where you live, your local J.Crew *may* be offering an additional "additional percent off" promotion. :)
Is your local J.Crew carrying a similar additional promotion? If so, please share the location. Thanks in advance! :)
Update: "Thanks!" to Lauren who let us know that the Friendship Heights J.Crew is no longer offering that promotion.
I have also disabled the comments for this post. The direction of certain comments ceased being a part of a constructive discussion. Please resist making negative comments and personal attacks. Let's try to get back to discussing our love of J.Crew clothes. :)
off topic, but I had to mention that Michelle Obama was on Jay Leno wearing ALL jcrew! Yellow colorblock cardigan, italian deco blouse, and the cloche pencil skirt, I believe. Didn't catch what shoes she was wearing. Here is the AP article.
ReplyDeleteMetallic cloqué pencil skirt, that is. :)
ReplyDeletePembridge-dot pencil skirt
ReplyDeleteNope, it's this skirt in gold. Sold only in stores.
She killed honey glaze for me. Just because it's on sale and it's yellow doesn't mean it all goes together. Ugh.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteahh, the pembridge dot skirt makes more sense, actually. the cloque skirt would be a little too much yellow.
ReplyDeleteI think the yellow cardigan and deco blouse go together well.
-Heather
I thought Michelle Obama looked awesome. She doesn't wear the stuffy pant/skirt suits that seem to be the uniform of political wives. Her look is fresh and approachable. And she buys her own clothes.....
ReplyDeleteUgh. Really? They're like 4 different shades of yellow, all gone wrong. That's a funky ensemble she has going on...time to fire the stylist!
ReplyDeleteOh BS she buys her own clothes. It's called a campaign fund for a reason. He raked in some record amounts of money...it would be hard to believe she didn't get her grubby little hands on some of it to online shop!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anon. Mrs. Obama is going overboard with that look. I'm sorry, but dress your age, please.
ReplyDeleteJust because you shop higher end, as opposed to the GAP, doesn't mean you can automatically ooze class and refinement. That's pretty tacky what she has on. Really. Just plain yucky.
ReplyDeleteI think she pulls it off quite nicely. It's late October at the end of a killer campaign -- we could all use some brightness!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly--I just recv'd the deco tank and that same cardigan and NONE of them go together at all! Please understand--this is not political--I honestly don't know if she got dressed in the dark or what? The skirt is like citrus, the shirt is golden yellow, dark brown and acorn pattern and the colorblock cardi is just a very hard to wear shade of honey glaze/grey. It is not even true honey glaze like say jackie. I in fact could not wear honey glaze over the deco tank--it looked terrible. Needs black and that's about it...maybe dark choc brown. I know people try to mix it up so as not to be boring but this was a REAL miss. No wonder it came up in conversation--Jay must have thought--wth are you wearing--it's hurting my eyes!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise--I think she tends to look nice in her J Crew.
That's a lot of yellow!
ReplyDeleteExtra % would be AWESOME!
Haha. You said Obama and Acorn in the same sentence.
ReplyDeleteHaha. You said Obama and Acorn in the same sentence.
ReplyDeleteI normally like Michelle Obama's clothes, but this wasn't my favorite outfit of hers. I liked all of the pieces, just didn't like them together. It is pretty likely that she purchases her own clothes...otherwise it would have shown up on the FEC reports which are public records. Besides, if she were going to spend campaign funds on clothes, with the kind of donations the Senator has been bringing in, she could have gone couture.
ReplyDeleteAck. Our potential first lady is nothing like the late Jackie O. Let's hope fashion mags don't start featuring her as Style Watch 2009!
ReplyDeleteBack on topic . . .
ReplyDeleteEven with the extra % off, I still won't be doing much shopping for awhile (meaning for a month). My money has been spent.
Dressing for TV and dressing for real life are two different things. Maybe she or her stylist thought it read well on camera. I don't know as I didn't watch the show but there is definitely a difference.
ReplyDeleteI guess I will have to go to b&m tomorrow to see if we have specials here as well. Now THAT'S news!
gigiofca, style is style. you either have it or you don't. Sadly, Mrs. O doesn't. What a shame, there are so many other pretty things for her to choose from and she chose to dress with her eyes closed.
ReplyDeleteI hope my store is having 20% off! I wonder if this means they'll be sending us something in the email as well?
ReplyDeleteFor all you haters out there: too late, she was already chosen as one of the best dressed women by a magazine (I believe Vanity Fair). The shades may not work well together in real life but it didn't look so bad on tv. I think it's sad that people let their politics mar their fashion objectivity. She looked good. And what is this about "dressing your age"? She's in her 40's, wearing a knee length skirt and a cardigan, she's not in a mini skirt and a tube top. Are you saying 40-somethings shouldn't be shopping at JCrew? Heck, at these new higher prices us 30+ may be the only ones who can afford it.
ReplyDeleteGrubby little hands? Oh silly silly, uneducated people.
ReplyDelete"I think it's sad that people let their politics mar their fashion objectivity."
ReplyDeleteWho are you? Her stylist??
She looked horrible. Politics has nothing to do with picking a)a respectable skirt to go with b)a nice looking top that matches, with c) a sensible cardigan to pull it all together. Oh, and pantyhose wouldn't hurt the eyes either. No one wants to see bare skin when you're hubby is running for office. It's called CLASS.
I don't care how you play her up, she didn't look good. There's nothing wrong with saying that, no matter which way you vote.
For all you haters out there: too late, she was already chosen as one of the best dressed women by a magazine (I believe Vanity Fair).
ReplyDeleteI guess everyone makes a mistake once in a while, this time it was Vanity Fair.
We're not in the 1980's. Pantyhose or lack of is not a sign of whether or not one has class. Come on now!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why people come to a fashion / shopping blog and go off on mean spirited tangents. I personally thought she looked fine and like a dork got a little excited when I heard her say Jcrew.
ReplyDeleteFashion is subjective. That being said, do we have to attack each other?
ReplyDeleteLadies,
ReplyDeleteWhether you like or hate the outfit, we all love this blog and want it to be a pleasant place to hang. I hope Alexis wouldn't have to wake up to this in the morning and decides to shut down annon or the blog till after election.
As someone who can't vote, I definitely heard hostility from both sides. Shall we dial it down and talk about the bonus discount?
alison
I think Mrs. Obama very stylish. Maybe we don't all agree with her choices all the time, but we can agree that, for many appearances, she sticks with off-the-rack clothing and looks great. Think about Nancy Reagan (many of you won't remember, but still). She wouldn't have been caught dead in anything but couture (and still wouldn't, if the Reagan funeral was any sign--black Chanel suit if my memory serves, and as always, very aware of the camera on her). Having lived through the Reagan era, to me, Nancy always had an unapproachable, phony-baloney old-time movie star vibe. At least Michelle Obama looks like a real person.
ReplyDeleteThese new specials are much better news! It does seem funny, after just discussing how JC is cracking down on stackable discounts, that in-store they are offering some stackable discounts! I'll be dropping by today to check it out.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMan, if I lived near a store I'd be there...It really does seem unfair that store have stackable discounts and online doesn't:(
ReplyDeleteI just am not buying much anymore b/c I can't get free shipping and an additional percent off...
But, then again, my savings account is growing...so far this fall I have bought is the Simone snow leopard and the berry Astrid from online...and had sent from a store the ruffle Astrid. Normally, I would have spent much, much much more!
I'm making a once a year one day trip into NYC, besides the collection store what jcrew store should I go to? Which one has the most new stuff? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I sense a new Polyvore contest - restyle MO using at least one of the pieces she wore on Leno. What do you think, Michelle? ;)
ReplyDeleteOff topic- Has anyone tried on the Alessia patent leather Mary Janes?
ReplyDeleteMy store is not doing this promotion. Still 30% off sale.
ReplyDeleteanon@7:53 - Are you coming in on a weekday or a weekend? If you are coming in on a weekend I would recommend hitting the Madison/45th St J.Crew. It's usually less crowded so you get more attention. On weekdays I find the 5th Ave store is the best one to hit, except around lunch. In my experience Rockefeller Center tends to be the most crowded and Columbus Circle has the nicest but least experienced salespeople. The Soho store is kind of small.
ReplyDeleteThey usually all have the same items, with varying products in their sales sections. Also make sure you check out the men's areas because the stores have additional women's sale items there. Enjoy your day in NYC!
Thanks for sharing about Michelle O.~ love her classy style, her wearing JCrew just solidifies her fashion diva status! Thank goodness she doesn't wear the standard pantsuit thing ~ so boring/stale, last year.
ReplyDeleteI think the percent of is a good strategy! I think they are really trying to move sale merchandise before the big holiday shopping season.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Michelle Obama- I didn't like all those yellows together. I think the deco tank with a different cardi would have been prettier.
oops! I meant "percent off"
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed that she dresses in J. Crew pieces quite often. In Ohio (I think it was Ohio)she had on the floral abstract skirt...the one that runs a million sizes too big. And it looked FAB on her. In fact I jumped on Ebay and purchased one since it had since gone on sale and sold out
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAnon (first one I guess who responded to me),
ReplyDeleteI brought it up b/c I notice whenever I see someone on tv wearing jcrew, whether it be a potential first lady or a random person on a yogurt commercial. No need to diss Mrs. Obama here. I will add, however, that she would exude class if she were wearing a dirty burlap sack. And, there have been several reports that have looked at the campaign funds and have seen none of them go to her or Barack's wardrobe. They buy their own clothes.
I still think the deco blouse and cardigan look nice together, maybe because I was planning to buy the cardigan, LOL. :)
ReplyDeleteAs far as whether the yellows match, jcrew has these two yellows styled together, so I think it's just a more fashion forward and bold look. It's risky and might not pay off, but I give people props for trying something different.
I'm going to head to my B&M today to see what special deals they have, if any!
ReplyDeleteI think Michelle looked cute! I'm sure if any one of us went on TV, half the audience wouldn't like what we were wearing! Michelle's outfit looked like some outfit you would maybe see in a JCrew catalog ... where you aren't quite sure if it should really be put together, but clothes also look very different on TV! At least she buys her own clothes ... and major kudos to her if they were on sale!
OT: I posted this somewhere else too. So today I wear my gray herringbone bella to work with a mint green turtleneck and charcoal gray dress pants. I wore my hair up in a ponytail so you could see the collar. The first comment I get is are you cold. I say no, it's a blazer, not a coat. Then the person asks if the collar is supposed to be up like that. I told him yes and he walked away. Has anyone else gotten questions about the collar when wearing their bella? It irritated me for some reason. Ok, thanks for listening to my rant.
ReplyDeleteanon @ 9:15,
ReplyDeleteI think some people just don't get it when a woman wears a blazer. And who cares if you wear your collar popped? As long as you're not a douchebag frat boy, I think it's fine. :) Maybe said guy questioning you is one and felt you were encroaching on his style, hah. ;P
Anony@9:15 Sounds to me like you looked great. The other people in your office were just jealous:) or have zero fashion sense:)
ReplyDeleteJackie-or others in the DC area..
ReplyDeleteany idea how long this bonus additional off will be lasting? Thanks!!
if you go on the people.com homepage and click on the MO article the picture they have of her makes the yellows look a lot better together. the only thing that bothered me about the outfit was the giant pin holding the sweater together. not a fan.
ReplyDeleteWhat an idiot, asking you if the collar is supposed to be up? What do you think, it came like this? I wouldn't have even answered that. No fashion sense. Sometimes when peeps ask questions like that, I walk away, or ask why do you ask?
ReplyDeleteOT: Does anyone watch the morning news show The Daily Buzz? Andrea, one of the co-hosts, wears a lot of J Crew.
ReplyDeleteIf I place an order online and use a f/s code, is there a good chance I can get them to apply my student discount or should I not both? (since they are being tougher about it)
ReplyDelete-i meant bother not both
ReplyDeleteI thought Michelle looked fabulous - an edgy way to do a monochromatic look. And I think someone with a knowledge of tv/print put that ensemble together because the pieces don't look like they would all go together based on the naked eye. I notice the same thing happens in the catalog/web sometimes. Color matching for different mediums is fascinating to me!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone gotten that black tweed bow skirt? It isnt online, only stores
ReplyDeleteIf this truly is a fashion blog, I would have to disagree that she looked good. It just didn't. If Cindy Mccain did that, I'd be saying the same thing...so it doesn't matter whether you like/dislike the person, it just wasn't a properly chosen outfit!
ReplyDeleteAgain, you can agree to disagree, but remember when you're choosing to slam someone on this board personally, you're technically asking for it in return 10 fold.
Anony@10:06. I call in my orders and usually use the educator or student discount as it is a better deal for me.
ReplyDeleteYou can also email JCrew from your school address with your order number and ask they apply it...good luck.
I've never noticed it, but some of these comments are extremely juvenile. It's apparent that half of you are still in the high school mind set. Reading some of these replies, they make it seem as if we've been rediculing their mothers. I've never seen such sensitivity.
ReplyDeletejeff- who are you referring to? i hope it's about popped collars, because that's just retarded.
ReplyDeleteLol, popped collars. There is only two ways to pull it off. One, is if you're Dracula & two, is if you're dressed as Dracula.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 9:15a - That guy irritated you, but your story made me laugh out loud. I agree that you probably encroached on his style. Next time someone asks, pause, pantomime that you're putting a cigarette to your lips, inhale, blow and *then* answer. Maybe that guy wanted a dramatic answer like that.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 2:09 AM - Style is subjective.
Jen - You get it. Styling for TV/print is completely different than for real life. And as far as Michelle getting these items on sale and throwing them all together...she is probaby a Mickey VIP and practically got them for free. So she has the last laugh.
Jackie - thanks for the heads up about the Friendship Heights store! I almost never shop there, but it might be worth a visit if they have some good stuff. I wonder if any of the Virginia stores are doing the multiple discounts?
ReplyDeleteAbout Michelle Obama - I have to admit that I thought her outfit looked kind of fresh in the photo. Sometimes things do look different in person than in photos with all the camera lights. Who knows what it would like like if I put it on? Then again, I am pretty pale and couldn't hope to pull off a pantyhose-less look in the height of summer. I totally welcome a more approachable, colorful wardrobe, and I think it would be great if more female politicians were able to dress this way. Unfortunately, a lot of women in those positions still face the double standard when it comes to fashion: if they're fashionable, they are often looked at as incapable, and vise versa.
FYI - I am giving a purely objective opinion of how MO's outfit came across to me in the photos. Mrs. Obama and I are about 180 degrees apart in our political beliefs, so this is in no way an endorsement of her. Just a purely visual judgement based only on the photos I saw.
On the subject of campaigning nominees buying their own clothes: Although Sarah Palin received $150,000 for a wardrobe to, well, campaign in (with the goal of winning the campaign) - all the clothes will be donated to charity and have always been designated to do so. On the other hand, Mr. "spread the wealth/supporter of the little guy" Obama spent $400,000 of his campaign funds (not personal funds) on a private jet to make 2 strictly personal family visits to Hawaii - money and energy sources that were forever wasted. Sen. Biden spent thousands of campaign dollars (not personal dollars) renovating his house. And lest we forget, Obama's ACORN received $4.6 million of funneled taxpayer money in just 2 years to commit voter fraud. Sorry, but $150,000 pales in comparison. Also, let's remember that in 1993, Sen. McCain voted for restrictions on the use of campaign funds for “inherently personal purposes,” specifically denouncing the use of such funds on “clothing purchases”.
But I am genuinely happy to see politicians wearing more J.Crew. And compared with the de-rigeur stiff couture attire that characterized previous decades, I wholeheartedly welcome a change in fashion direction!
3PP- well said. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I was going to write that all down, but you beat me to it! :)
ReplyDeleteI guess when you take into considering his jet, his food, his partying...MO says she buys her own clothes, but didn't say whether she's using her own funds. A total difference. I can go online to pick out my clothes, but use someone else's credit card to check out. I guess that's kind of like buying my own clothes.
I don't know...I just don't trust people that self righteous. If she's Mickey's VIP, count me out of that club. She can promote his clothes all she wants (and take the company and the USA down w/her), but she's hardly the American posterchild when this year was the first time she's proud to be an American...just a thought!
3penny,
ReplyDeleteok, the big problem with acorn is that anyone can sign up to register voters b/c they get paid according to how many they sign up. This can lead to lots of people trying to make a quick buck. So, these people may write "Mickey Mouse" or whatever other fake names just to fill their quota. But, someone isn't actually going to go to vote and say they are Mickey Mouse or Joe Sixpack! That's not going to happen. acorn has tried to purge those people and has pressed charges against those who made up thousands of fake names. the real problem are actual voters getting thrown off the rolls by state officials for minor technicalities like spelling errors, or people being told to vote on nov 5th, or that they can't vote if their house might get foreclosed. THAT is voter fraud.
this article tries to fact check some of the acorn allegations. mostly, it seems like the mccain campaign is blowing things out of context, just like they have with "spreading the wealth." :)
If Palin can use Alaska tax dollars to drag her kids all over the country for free and write it off as official business when they weren't invited, or use the per diem just so she can work from home, then I have no problem with Obama using a campagin plane to go see his dying grandmother one last time.
Anyway, at least we can agree that Michelle looked nice in jcrew and that jcrew got a shout out. :)
Ok, I was going to suggest that politics be left off this blog, but I can't help responding to some of these outrageous posts.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, do you not think the McCains use their planes to fly to their home(s)? Do you begrudge Obama visiting his grandmother before she possibly dies?
I, personally, doubt that Ms. Palin's clothes will ultimately be donated, and I definitely think it was only said publicly that they would be once she was caught. If I donated money to the RNC, I would be pissed that so much was going to clothe her. Especially when they're losing. All three other candidates have said they buy their own clothes, so I don't see how you can criticize the Democratic candidates for doing something the McCains are doing as well. By the way, Sarah Palin also outfitted her kids and husband with campaign money and has charged Alaska tens of thousands of dollars to fly her kids around while she's out campaigning.
I think the cardi and the skirt worked well for Mrs. O, but not sure about the deco tank. The deco tank is really more like chocolate + yellow.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the pin on top either. Makes it look as if the sweater's too tight and she's trying to hold it together. Not to be mean, but she looked tall, so I am surprised that she can actually wear off the shelf J Crew.
Back to topic. I didn't see any additional bonus off at my stores.

ReplyDeleteTrying to check on a botced order and website is down, AGAIN! Hope they fix problem as I have not been able to add items to cart for days now. Tech guy emailed me and told me they are currently working on problems they are aware of as of late with sizing, cart, sale section, etc. Its times like these when I pray a B&M store opens near me!!! Anyone else experiencing long wait times with customer service over the past couple of weeks if emailing them? I am averaging 3 or more days for a reply, if at all.
ReplyDelete3 penny princess..this is NOT a political blog. Please delete and/or remove your political comments immediately. What are you trying to do??? Cause more problems and nastiness???
ReplyDeleteby the way, most of the stuff you commented on is not correct anyway...need to do some research...
heather: I love how you said, "Let's just agree MO looked nice". She didn't! It looked like she raided the sale bin at JC. Alright, they might not have been on sale, but she somehow degraded the clothing. Nothing personal, but I'd rather you have not posted that article out of the blue. It had nothing to do with the original post & this has gotten WAY off topic. Frankly, I don't give (bleep) about MO.
ReplyDelete3 penny princess,
ReplyDeleteYou are so very wrong!
Go OBAMA!
Laura,
ReplyDeleteThank you. I doubt the clothes are going back, either... maybe some, but not all. They could have outfitted her just as well for a third of the price. It has been reported several times that the Obamas buy their own clothes with their own money and the FEC filing back that up. Some people are just going to hate on Mrs. Obama no matter what, but slamming Obama for visiting his dying grandmother is just cruel.
3 penny princess anon @ 11:43a is right. This is not the place for a political rant. You went way too far.
ReplyDeleteI think Heather just posting about a celebrity who wears JCREW, no harm in that ~ would like to see other celeb pix wearing JCREW. I think MO looks good. No one wears pantyhose anymore.
ReplyDelete^ That is the reason people want to ban Anon posting. Seriously, that comment was just a waste of space. Just jumping in & screaming "You're wrong!", then trying to justify it by adding "Go Obama" is stupid
ReplyDeletejeff,
ReplyDeleteI posted the article because she was wearing jcrew... and this is a jcrew blog! We've discussed plenty of jcrew sitings before, why should this be any different? Some of us think she looked great, some ok, some think the pieces were nice but not all together, and others think she looked bad.
heather: Please cut out that political junk. Do you know what an instigator is?
ReplyDeleteheather,
ReplyDeleteYes, but you could cease now cause you're only instigating arguments. We're not even talking about JC anymore.
jeff,
ReplyDeleteyes, an instigator is someone who calls Michelle Obama a tacky and how she wants to get her "grubby little hands" on campaign funds, and slams Obama for visiting his dying grandmother. That is an instigator.
I think I'll be visiting the Friendship Heights store today after work. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteKatie Couric used to wear J.Crew all the time when she was still on The Today Show. Heh, it was my favorite part of the show! I even remember a merino wool leopard print cardigan completely selling out after she wore it. Luckily, I got mine early!
Does anyone know where to find the catalog archives for J.Crew?
ReplyDeleteSpecifically, I'm looking for Fall 2005.
Thanks!
3 pp, wow, watch much Fox news, do you? I guess you've missed how mccain can't even remember how many houses and cars he has, or how palin spent taxpayer money to haul her offspring around the country. But hey, don't let facts destroy interfere with forming an opinion.
ReplyDeleteI'm to going to try anymore cause it seems like you just can't understand that your article is providing the means to argue for others. Look it as a whole just for one moment please. It's not a personal attack, so stop trying to defend yourself.
ReplyDeleteGeezus. I thought we were talking about her hideous choice of clothing- the pieces look good by itself, but def not together...nothing political about that, unless you want to make it that way. Cindy Mccain's dressed like a damn pumpkin before. If it were jcrew clothes she was wearing, I'd say she looked like a damn pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteheather,
ReplyDeleteThe 12:08 PM by Anon is a perfect example of what your little article has caused.
kat,
ReplyDeleteI've seen Anne Curry in some jcrew, too!
Jeff and others,
ReplyDeletePeople with logins are saying nasty things...
People that are anonymous are saying nice things...
And visa versa
It doesn't matter either way causes problems...
Heather,
You did no wrong posting a person wearing JCrew...political or not...people just decided to take the opportunity to discuss politics instead of fashion.
3-penny-princess- I cant wait to come on this blog next week when Obama wins and laugh in your face. GO AWAY! No one wants you here.
ReplyDeleteWell, to stick to the topic: I was at the Dallas NorthPark store last night and they had 30% off all women's sale items. Lots of dresses!
ReplyDeleteJeff, let it go. Move on. You're accusing Heather of something that you're guilty of yourself.
ReplyDeleteAllison,
ReplyDeleteThat is great to hear! I Love the simplicity of dresses!
i thought her outfit was super fun. i have been loving j crew's yellows this season. i don't have the confidence to wear that much of it all together, but MO rocked it!
ReplyDeletehas anyone who is not a size 2 tried the kate dress? did you find it flattering? (no offense skinny minnies, i am just looking for reviews from bigger gals like myself:)
Alexis,
ReplyDeletePlease end this blog posting.
Enough already.
Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI posted about a timely jcrew siting, plus they actually got a mention. Other people made it political by calling Mrs. Obama a money grubber and calling BS on the fact the she buys her own clothes, then other unrelated political stuff followed. Everyone is tense because it's a week before this huge election, people are on edge. I don't think that means I shouldn't have posted an article about the potential first lady wearing jcrew, though.
I don't care if other people did not like her outfit and want to critique the combo or color palette etc., but saying a woman wearing a completely age appropriate outfit should "dress her age," and accusing her of abusing campaign funds is trolling.
Allison- Dallas NorthPark is my "home" store when I'm stateside, but my mother reported that she went there yesterday and left because everything, even after sale and discount, was still above $100. I yelled, "But what about the chiffon rose belts? I read that they were $10!" I really wish I was there... I always find good stuff.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 12:19, leave Jeff alone. He is the only person that has truth behind what he writes.
ReplyDeleteGO AWAY Heather
ReplyDeleteOT. Can someone tell me if the vintage bootleg cords fit TTS.
ReplyDeleteanon re: vintage bootcut cords:
ReplyDeleteI have some from various seasons including last season and this season, and they fit the same -- tts. This has been mentioned before on this blog, and some people have said they felt that the cords are bigger this year. It's a littlehard for me to tell, because I still have to hem them a little regardless-- the inseam has always been a little too long for me. But, I've been buying the same size (either 2P or 2S) for a while.
thanks Heather.
ReplyDeleteI usually wear a 6T in the trouser cords(city fit) and they are a tad big but i wasn't sure if the favorite fit would run smaller
Heather, there is nothing wrong for you to mention the article and share with us the new of MO and Jcrew, both of which you are excited about. However, it is not respectful to go off topic at the first comment of the topic. If I were you, I would wait after a dozen of comments.
ReplyDeleteMO could use some style advice from our FFM.
ReplyDeletejeff: Don't jump on people because they have a different viewpoint, that is childish, your comments come off sounding very arrogant and harsh please show a little more respect!
ReplyDeleteBTW How is a 40 year old supposed to dress? I thought Michelle Obama looked great!
heather: yeah sure, troll troll away!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, if you're just going to resort to calling names when I'm asking you to revert on topic then so be it.
Actually, Heather and I agreed that MO's outfit was nice. That's the whole point - even though we don't agree on what people consider "facts" in this election and we clearly have divergent political views, we applauded the wearing of J.Crew by a political figure and we liked how the outfit came across. I also agree with someone's comment that Cindy McCain once wore an outfit that made her look like a pumpkin. Furthermore, Heather and I both spoke in a civil manner and did not resort to personal insults.
ReplyDeleteI was only addressing more than a few earlier comments that MO buys her own clothes (we can't possibly know either way) and that Sarah Palin used campaign money to pay for her campaign wardrobe. It's hardly fair to let some comments go unquestioned while criticizing someone else for trying to tell another side of the story in response to those comments.
Most of my earlier comment was related to the outfit in question and to J.Crew's store sales. But since some people have asked whether or not it's right for Obama to visit his dying grandmother, of course it's all right! But the Obamas' 2006 combined income was $983,826, and their 2005 combined income was $1.6 million (plus the fact that the hospital that employed Michelle in 2005 more than doubled her salary, then in 2006 received a $1 million earmark from her husband.) Couldn't Obama had used his own money to visit his dying grandmother?
The Palins' 2007 adjusted gross income was $166,080. She sold the former Alaska governor's Westwind II jet for $2.1 million, eschews hotel reimbursement by choosing to drive 50 miles to work, and let go the former governor's private chef, to start. Furthermore, she shelved her state's pork-barrel projects, cut wasteful budgetary spending, stopped the 'bridge to nowhere' that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars, lowered taxes and sent the check back to congress, lowered property taxes, taxed oil companies' excessive profits, suspended the gas tax, applied the surplus, and balanced the budget. On the subject of expensing her family's travel, keep in mind that her family represents Alaska in ceremonies of state. Of the hundreds of invitations she receives each month, many invite her family as well. As the first lady of Alaska, she's completely within her legal right to travel with her family when representing her state. She's not using public funds to take personal family vacations or to take expensive trips around the world for purely personal purposes.
And, as I said before, I agree with McCain's vote in 1993 that for restrictions on the use of campaign funds for “inherently personal purposes,” specifically denouncing the use of such funds on “clothing purchases”.
I think it would be a great idea if more of our candidates (and political figures, for that matter) put together some less expensive outfits for themselves and their families, maybe from J.Crew? I think that FFM or one of our other talented stylists could easily put together some very attractive and comfortable outfits for candidates to wear on the campaign trail. That's all I'm going to say about these topics.
3 penny princess,
ReplyDeleteONCE AGAIN THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL BLOG
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SHUT THE F* UP
I WANT TO DISCUSS JCREW
THIS IS NOT YOUR PERSONAL POLITICAL PLATFORM
GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK
jeff are you posting as anon 1:28 now?
ReplyDeleteI thought Mrs. Obama looked great, and very age appropriate. Don't know how the latter even comes into question with that outfit.
ReplyDeleteShe's a vibrant, intelligent woman, and whoever used "grubby little hands" to describe her is just another example of what's bringing down this country.
anon@ 12:56,
ReplyDeleteI see your point about posting off topic first. It was late and I wasn't thinking about it, I just clicked the first post on the blog, when I probably should have waited a bit. So, I apologize for getting off topic so quickly.
3penny, I appreciate that you were/are civil. The only point in your post that bothered me was the thing about Obama's flying to Hawaii, BUT I do understand that there were people bothered by it. So, that's fine, we can agree to disagree because we all know that both sides take certain campaign perks like having their own planes. Like I said previously, tensions are running high in general with the upcoming election.
And by the way, I think Gov. Palin would look great in a jcrew suit and boots! :)
..."another example of what's bringing down this country."
ReplyDeleteUh, socialism, wealth redistribution, free health care, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, mismatched j.crew outfits, not being proud to be an American....
God Bless America, but the list goes on and on.
Anon: Do I seem like the type that posts anonymously? I actually voted to ban anonymous posting (nothing personal) just so you know. I don't have a problem with expressing my views. Not everyone is going to agree. It's not a perfect world. I mean, if it was, we'd all be wearing the same clothing, having the same ideals . . . how boring . . . So no, I did not post anonymously. :)
ReplyDelete3 Penny Princess,
ReplyDeleteWow, there you go again. Clearly, you just can't help yourself. Let's just get back to the topic at hand, please. Does anyone have any information regarding which stores are offering the additonal bonus?
Oh yes, boo to socialism. Countries that incorporate it into their government, like Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, for example, only have some of the highest standards of living in the world, high age expectancy, and very little illiteracy.
ReplyDeleteback to the topic at hand, yesterday I stopped by the Michigan Ave, Chicago store (one of the extra % off stores), and it looks like the % off promotion is over. Sad. :(
ReplyDeleteOh my...I was just coming on to ask if anyone has the Issy Sweater Jacket how they like it, and what are they wearing it with.
ReplyDeleteI took a look at the Issy sweater jacket, but the collar is really strange -- it doesn't quite lay right.
ReplyDeleteKitchy7 - Thanks for the info re additional discount. I was going to stop by the Michigan Ave. store today but since the promo is over, I'll wait until the end of the week. Maybe they will have new merchandise out, or maybe more "old" stuff will be reduced. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteHey azalea avenger...time for you to pack your bags and leave the States. Seriously, why live here when it's so horrible? You're no doing anyone a favor by spewing garbage no one agrees with.
ReplyDeleteDo you stay because jcrew doesn't ship to other countries? Is your life that shallow that you live here for the clothing? People w/no national pride should just be shipped off IMHO....
Sorry to be ON topic, but the Briarwood store in Ann Arbor is totally NOT having the extra percent off. BOO!!!
ReplyDeletemy rewards card came. woo!
ReplyDeletenow i'm just waiting for another % off coupon code so i can make the most of it...
anon @ 1:40 - as a matter of fact, I do have information about which stores are offering additional discounts. Don't know where you live, but Pentagon and Tysons are offering 30% off sales items as well as $100 off 2 coats - Carrie and a wool-cashmere version of the Lucinda (might be just at Pentagon), 25% off suits, cashmere tees and v-necks for $100, buy 3 get 1 free in socks, and some others. There are also some men's promotions.
ReplyDeleteHowever - Tysons said they would honor the Friendship Heights discount of 20% off $100. When someone goes to check out at Tysons, they will just need to call up Friendship Heights to confirm the discount.
More discounts - something we can all agree on!
Jcrewjunkie - The Issey actually fit well on me (I am a size 10 top) However, it did not look great on my size 0 sister. The neckline just wasn't flattering with no body to fill it out. Just my opinion, but thought it might help! I am wearing it with statement necklaces, as the neckline frames them beautifully.
ReplyDeleteFrom Jezebel: The Politics of Style: An Obama Inspired Shopping Spree at JCrew *Also picks items for Cindy and the Palins.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried on or purchased either the Merino Paige jacket (98461) or the Jacinda jacket (98594)? I'm in love with both and really trying to justify buying one at full price...
ReplyDeletejenn_brak: Do you wear your Issy with a black tank under it? A white one? I love the way making it all black (sweater + tank) looks, but have you ever tried a pop of color with yours? Just wondering. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeletejcrewjunkie: i actually just bought the issy sweater jacket and absolutely love it. i'm a size 0/XS on top and, ahem, don't have any body to fill it out ;). but it works on me :) i think it's so chic. i tried it on with a striped ringspun cotton tee in sesame from last year and skinny jeans. i wasn't going to consider it since it didn't get great reviews by some but after trying it i loved it. give it a try to see how it works for you. :) i also bought the paris striped scarf in camel to go with it...love it :)
ReplyDelete3 Penny Princess, thanks for your response and the great info!
ReplyDelete3-PennyPrincess: do you recall any items from the new catalog at either Tysons or Pentagon? Like the ruffle camis or blouses? How about the Greta coats, Issy jackets, or Francie skirts? Any collection items? :)
ReplyDeleteTIA
kat: I have the black Jacinda and love it - one of my favorite pieces. I've worn it a couple times with the white Kelly shirt underneath and the bright blue Double-serge pencil skirt. It's also cute with jeans and a tank. I'll get a lot of use out of it..... I think it's worth the price.
ReplyDeleteHeather, I love it! That Jezebel post is too funny. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletekitchy7 - thanks for letting us know that your rewards card came. I'm holding out hope that mine will come this week too. I've spoken with CS twice about it because each week they promised that the rewards cards were on their way and they insisted that I could place a phone/store purchase once the cards were printed. But each time I tried, they said the rewards codes weren't available and that the cards would be sent out the following week. Maybe this is finally the week!
jcrewjunkie - I love the all black too, just have not triedit yet. I wore a blue camisole (cobalt, not j Crew) charcoal slacks with a six srand peral necklace. It also looked nice with my denim pencil skirt. I wore a cream cami with that look. I will admit though, that Ido not really like the sweater with jeans, but that is just because of my size and shape.
ReplyDeletei have the jacinda jacket in both colors, and i absolutely love it. it's a super comfy jacket that moves with you, so i reach for it when i'm not in the mood for something more constricting. and the shape works really well on my body.
ReplyDeleteccbum - That is funny and good to know. I will pass on to my sister that it is just her sad, deformed, little body that did not work! Everyone, seriously, I am just joking. Anyway, that scarf you mentioned is just SO chic. I seriously think that is my second favorite piece of the entire fall season. My beloved acorn necklace comes first.
ReplyDeletecleo - both Tysons and Pentagon have lots of fabulous new items! I'm sure I saw the Victoria ruffled cami (and probably the long-sleeved shirt) there. They had a few of the new coats too. I know that Tysons had the Merino button cuff cardigan and Pentagon had the Bow Necklace cardigan. I believe Pentagon has the cashmere Eva sweater.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about the Franci skirt, but I think I saw the Pembridge-dot skirt at both stores and the taffeta A-line skirt at Pentagon. I am probably going to visit Tysons today or tomorrow, so I can tell you for sure.
Funny Jezebel article, and accurate, too - this JCrew/MO/Jay Leno item is all over the web today, no wonder it practically co-opted this blog entry. Great day for JCrew.
ReplyDeletejenn_brak: i fell in love with that scarf at the store!...only problem is that it's a tad itchy due to the metallic threads running through it :o...but i still bought it since it looks so fabulous on :)
ReplyDeleteccbum: How are you wearing the scarf with your issy....tucked under or over top?
ReplyDeleteThanks tammylee and kitchy7! I'm going to end up buying both of them, I just know it :)
ReplyDeletetammylee: i wear it out...sortof. i do sort of an ascot...i wrap it around my neck twice instead of once then tie the front. then i mess with the ends so they don't stick out or anything but you can still see them...hope that makes sense ;). so it's not hanging down and it's not tucked in and you can still see the neckline of the issy.
ReplyDeleteccbmum: Thanks for the description. It sounds like a really cute combo that I'll have to try!
ReplyDeletetammylee: you're welcome! i just tried it again and the ends of the scarf hang down just a little bit...anyway, i love the look!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I also got my J.Crew rewards cards in today's mail. Off to the store!
ReplyDeleteJust watched the clip of Michelle Obamaon Jay Leno. I think that she was trying to tie in the top with the cardigan by adding the brooche at the top button. I would have preferred a dark skirt OR a dark cardigan, however, some posters should be ASHAMED of their comments. This is a fashion blog devoted to JCrew. I come here so that I can ESCAPE from the tense reality that is America right now. I LOVE JCrew. I LOVE my country. I also LOVE 'my' Obama family. I would never post snarky comments about the opposing campaign. I think that Sarah Palin, Cindy McCain, Michelle Obama and Mrs. Biden are ALL atractive well-dressed women. Let's grow up, girls (and boys). BACK TO JCREW.....
ReplyDeleteJenG.
I know, spell-check and preview should be my friend, this morning. I apologize. I just wonder "can't we all just get along?" Let's have FFM post polyvore sets for each candidate and wife (or hubby) and get America together. United by our love for JCrew!
ReplyDeleteJenG.
Many people do not think Michelle Obama is as well-dressed as Sarah Palin, Cindy McCain, and Mrs. Biden. They disagree with the media's flattery of how well Michelle dresses herself. Therefore, they want to voice a different opinion. There is nothing wrong about that.
ReplyDeleteJenG - it looks like secondarytoast is ahead of us. While we've been talking, she's been putting together some outfits for MO.
ReplyDeleteCan we see some outfits for the other political ladies? Can FFM suggest any good outfits?
OT - I got a coupon in the mail today from Banana Republic - 25% off your purchase for card members or 20% off for non-card members, Nov 2-13, NO MINIMUMS!!! Thank you BR!!
ReplyDeleteJenG- shush. That's how we can all be politcally correct. Politics and religion are topics not to be discussed unless you want to start a shit storm.
ReplyDeleteYou sit around on a Mall store message board all day.
ReplyDeleteYou are criticizing a woman that went to Harvard Law School.
Irony.
Bush graduated from Harvard too.
ReplyDeleteAffirmative action, heard of it? That's irony. You think just because she went to Harvard Law, her sh!t doesn't stink?
ReplyDeleteYour head must, since it's seemingly lodged UP there as well...
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I guess that makes one superior because they have a law degree from Harvard. I apologize, I forgot I was was criticizing royalty. Back to clothing now...this conversation is plain silly.
ReplyDeleteI made a Palin outfit, too! I'm an equal opportunity polyvore-er. :)
ReplyDeleteBush also graduated from Yale business school.
ReplyDeleteHi, sorry to go off topic but it seems this post went off rails long ago! Anybody out there ever get a tracking number come up as TRACK NO NA? Its on an order that has been stuck from a week and a half ago and they are telling me its coming but still did not get it. Called and phone rep was not very helpful and have not heard from online rep since Saturday. Any suggestions and or similar situations would be great. Do you think its lost or tracking number just not posted? Any help would be great since CS is not really offering me any real help! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLily,
ReplyDeleteI had one of those a couple orders ago. My order actually shipped in 2 separate boxes, one skirt in each box. Both showed up as N/A on the website but they did get to my house.
Lily, it is very likely it is lost. I had a package a couple of months ago. They sent me an email and gave me its tracking no. However, that there was no information under that tracking no for two weeks. I was told later the package was lost at the warehouse.
ReplyDeleteI ordered a Taj Mahal necklace online and received an email from J Crew two days later that it was sold out. I went to the web site and saw that it was available. So I called the customer service and re-ordered. The agent gave me a rush shipper (nice!). Then a day later I got a similar email saying that the necklace was sold out and my order was cancelled. Has anyone experienced something like this? It's very strange.
ReplyDeleteHeather, so you're secondarytoast and the famous toastfacekillah... I've been a fan.
ReplyDeleteWould anyone else like to see a Polyvore contest to put together a set of campaigning outfits for the various candidates? That way, we can funnel our energy into a creative endeavor. And, those who didn't care for MO's outfit on Leno can put together new ones.
3 penny princess,
ReplyDeletePLEASE leave this blog...you are a nasty person for going where you went with the whole political thing and I really think you need to go elsewhere...either that or just read and don't post...EVER EVER AGAIN!
GO AWAY!
Your username says it all...
LEAVE!
3PP:
ReplyDeleteIt's not really your place to be making these suggestions for Alexis's blog. I don't think your input re: Michelle Obama/Sarah Palin is appreciated.
OK, just got back from the Walnut Creek, CA store. There is an addl 30% off all sale stuff! Got the snow leopard Tartine cardi (orig. $88, for $48), and the navy ribbon belt w/ cream flower for $7, wanted the ivory w. black flower, but associate said that sold out along time ago. Oh well. I was excited!
ReplyDeletePlease stop the off-topic, unnecessary, and mean-spirited comments.
ReplyDeleteKater said it best (in another post) when she wrote "please do not make personal attacks on this blog. It's not kind, and it really takes the joy out of what is a fun and lighthearted space. We are all very different people here - and all these different perspectives are what makes aficionada so great."
We have different opinions, styles, and takes on different issues- that is one of the best things about this blog! :) But just let's not make them personal. Let's not make them mean.
Lastly, let's get back to discussing J.Crew! :)
Thanks for input so far on my tracking. To JCrewGal: I had this happen a bunch of times. Sadly the cancellations are still happening, as they were rampant late summer. Its a glitch in system most of the time, never trust it, if you get an email, double-check and if its in stock, you can almost always get it. Now, the trick is how fast and how fast CS jumps on it. I don't even bother telling them and just re-order myself unless a coupon had since expired. If this is the case, you can call CS but be on top of them. Many times its a roundabout way since they still seem to have a problem with communication with warehouse. Sometimes they will next day air an item for free, but, many times for me it drug out the process and I had to wait weeks until they got order to me. Its a hassle and a big problem they need fixing. Just be careful so as to not email and call or email more than one person as I have had to deal with duplicate orders coming a week later when someone decided to take care of me. The wait times with CS gets really, really sticky when dealing with low stock or sale items. I learned this the hard way.
ReplyDeleteP.S. If you recall the mass email sent apologizing for the cancellations and that they would automatically re-ship items if in stock, never happened in my case so don't believe that one! If it were me I would just call and re-order and hope they are kind and give you some sort of a free upgrade on shipping or something. Good luck!
Wow. How sad is it that when I saw that this had over 100 comments, I knew the anons had taken over? Seriously people, some of you appear in need of a hug. pronto.
ReplyDelete3PP: your info about Tysons and Pentagon city make me sad to be at university :(
Has anyone noticed if anything new has hit the sale rack for women in the BM stores? Stewart
ReplyDeleteYesterday at the Michigan Avenue store, Velvet Ecole jackets were on special price for $99.00. I ordered a tall from the red phone and used my student discount to get one for $84.00 in cobalt.
ReplyDelete“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”
ReplyDelete-Michelle Obama
Anyone willing to give me some of their own j.crew clothes so that we can all be wearing j.crew?
I thought Michelle looked great. Made me want a gold cardigan. I blogged about it at http://sisterly2.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteIn case the D.C. folks didn't catch Lauren's/Alexis's update, Friendship Heights is no longer offering the 20% off $100. So I guess this means Tysons won't honor it either. I didn't end up going to Tysons today but I might in the next day or two. I can report back on what they have on sale. Also, I forgot to add to my previous list of Tysons promotions that cords are $10 off.
ReplyDelete3PP - Your political comments are just nasty. But I guess if my candidate were so hopelessly behind, then I might get a little loopy and start echoing the most desperate and delusional GOP talking points too.
ReplyDelete
