J.Crew Final Sale Online: Extra 20% Off

"Thanks!" to Jackie & Lindsey B. (in the post "J.Crew November Catalog"), as well as Anonymous at 12:59 AM (in the post "What One J.Crew Item Do You Think Is An Investment", who let us know that J.Crew is offering an extra 20% off final sale items online with promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires 10/18/08.

NOTE: "Thanks!" to a J.Crew employee who shared with us that the EXTRA25 code does NOT exist. However, the EXTRA20 does work. :)

This code comes at a great time considering new arrivals are expected to be available online this week. Although, the email indicates that the 20% off is also at stores. As mentioned in an earlier post (click here), stores recently increased the additional percent off to 30%... so does that mean stores changed the additional percent off again?

Are there any items you are planning to purchase with this code? Or are you planning to wait a bit longer before purchasing any more items? :) Is your store carrying an additional 20% or 30% off final sale merchandise?

  1. I would have thought Jcrew would have offered a bit more off FS since it's (allegedly) the last week of FS and they just did the PS. At least match the 30% that's in stores right now.

I'm going to hold out for something better.

    ReplyDelete
  2. I agree, match the 30% off in stores!! For people that can only shop online it is the fair thing to do! Grrrrr.

  3. FFM:
You were looking for Sparkle plaid tweed pencil skirt(item 96176) , it's waitlisted, but available in 2,4,6 as of right now. I just placeed an order , keep my fingers crossed after 11/29.

    ReplyDelete
  4. ..oops... keeping my fingers crossed uit actually ships after 11/29... :)

  5. I think they gear their promotions to the needs of their business. They have a limit to their display space in the retail stores so they have more pressure to move out the old stuff to make space for the new stuff. There is much greater capacity to display items online and store them in the warehouse so there is less urgency to move that stuff. Hence, the difference between in store and online promotions and their increasing refusal to match the instore promotions for people who are not physically in the store.

  6. I think I'm going to skip this sale and get some new items :-). Hopefully a new % code will come out

    ReplyDelete
  7. Extra25 does not work for some reason. Is there a minimum with it?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I just said in the other post that I'm uninspired by the latest round of offerings based on the new catalog, but I would rather hold out and see those than using the promo and diving into final sale. again. I'm over final sale!
That being said I just saw that the double serge is available in 6 in bright blue again. How I love that skirt. but the new stuff is coming out! Ugh. Decisions. Decisions.

  9. Since I just bought the Herringbone Astrid in sweet potato I am going to need some chocolate colored pants. Sadly all the ones on sale are sold out. Maybe I will stop by a store or two later today since I will be down town. I am very excited and maybe there will be a pair in the store for the extra 30. That would be fun

  10. Slastena,
25% didn't work for me either, I'm not sure why :(

    ReplyDelete
  11. Nerdycrew:
I did several trial runs with different amounts- does not work.:(

    ReplyDelete
  12. I also ordered the sparkle plaid skirt in size 2 and I hope it ships. That's a long wait. I tried the EXTRA25 code and it didn't work for me either. I bet there's a $175 minimum as there has been lately. At least I got 20%. Other than that, there wasn't anything new on the sale page I was interested in. A lot of the same things brought back in more sizes. There are a couple things I would pick up if the discount was higher, but I'm not going to get them for 20% off.

  14. the extra25 isn't working for me either, and i did a trail run with the WELL OVER $175 that's in my shopping cart. I agree with jcrewjunkie & amy: match the store discount!! It really is not fair for those who can only shop online, especially when I could call my nearest b&m and have them ship things to me with the 30% AND only $6 shipping!

I snagged the skirts (sz 2&4) this morning--YEA--FINALLY!!!:)
Thanks for being on the lookout and if by chance you got me one--that is okay too! My girlfriend said she will take it off my hands:) That was SO sweet of you to offer!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sorry--that's Kitchy7--too much excitement!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Covert5!
    Congrats!!! Very happy for you!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Covert5: Congrats on getting the skirt. I know you've been looking for it. There are quite a few "new" things on the sale section, as well as reduced prices on some items. I've been stalking the Andie bag in flame for two weeks, waiting for it to drop. Not only did it go from $349 to $199 overnight, I just got 20% off. Yahoooo!!! Okay, I really didn't need to spend any more this month, especially with the new roll out, but I couldn't resist, especially at that price and the great reviews it's gotten. I guess this would be MY investment piece.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Leslie, it sounds like you got a great piece at a great price. Congrats

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks blumre! I'm soooo excited (can you tell???)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks Ladies--Leslie and I are starting our day out with some GOOD VIBES and we are sending them YOUR WAY!

That code situation is intersting--I am going to see what I can find out and report back:)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hmm ... I just checked the site and lucky for my credit card there's nothing I want, let along need. Guess I'll just wait for new items.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Kitchy7-
Let me go on to say that if you scored me one in sz 2--I will be thrilled because for some (probably obvious) reason I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that it might get canceled. Not trying to sound terribly pessimistic but I have had highly sought FS items being canceled again lately:( So if you were on super early AM and got it--I will be grateful as yours would be more likely to come for sure! Catch you later:)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I was thinking about the the Sparkle Plaid Skirt & the Marino Lady Jacket but both items won't ship until 11-29 so I decided to pass.

I really, really want the Rose Chiffon Belt in the black/ white combo and I haven't been able to find it at any of the stores here in Dallas. It's still full price online. I think I might do a find and seek and see if they will price match the store's 30% + my student discount.

Leslie: congrats in the Andie bag! It's so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The mens cricket sweater popped up on the FS for $29.99...as you can imagine, it sold out very fast..very disappointed!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Appgal, did you say that stores ship for $6? Is that a general policy, or just the price for your store/item?

    ReplyDelete
  27. 25% off didn't work for me, but the 20% did -- if there was a minimum purchase for the 25%, I'm sure my total was over it, so I don't think that was the problem! Oh well ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh yeah, I ordered the Watercolor floral Madison dress and the Giraffe Coat that I had been waiting for in my size (both "not shipping until the end of Nov") so I have my fingers crossed!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. covert5: try not to worry about your skirt getting cancelled. I ordered the leopard lawn Annette shirt on Sunday night and there was only one left, so I figured it would get cancelled. The good news is that is shipped on Monday. Between not getting cancelled and being shipped within 24 hours of ordering it, I'm hopefully that some of these online problems are behind us. Best of luck...I will keep my fingers crossed. Let us know when it ships!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. beachbum: yep! although I'm not sure if this is a uniform policy. the last order I got I placed through the nearest store (which is still 2 hours away). I called to ask about their % off for final sale so that I could ask for matching through CS, and when I heard that shipping was only $6, I couldn't resist! Online, it would have been more than doubled, and I wouldn't have been able to get an additional percentage off. It made me think that, especially with more and better sales in-store, I should order more like that every time! Plus, the SA I talked to asked if I was a teacher or student (I am both, actually) and applied the educator's discount to my order as well. I was very pleased.

Again, I'm not sure if EVERY store does $6 shipping, but I'm thinking they do...it's worth checking into. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is weird, but when I placed my order online, I used the EXTRA20 code but I actually got 25% off instead of 20%...anybody else seeing that?

    ReplyDelete
  32. stunning_styles: I'm laughing right now because I probably wouldn't even notice if it actually gave me 25% -- I'm checking now!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Did anyone see the dream silvie dress in any of the Manhattan stores? If you did, how much was it? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I just wanted to let everyone know that I got the Cashmere Sequin Cardigan in Black yesterday, and it is VERY beautiful, fits TTS, and is super soft. The sequins add just the right touch of feminine sparkle. Can't wait to wear it with my Green Silk Lawn Twisted Placket Shirt, but the weather is still too warm. Darn!

Also, I got the Chiffon Rose Cardigan in Plum and when I went to put it on there was a big hole in the sleeve. The is the second sweater that I have found with a hole (the other being the Links Print Cardigan from this Spring which was missing the entire armpit!)

For those of you who like a Plum and Orange combo, the Plum Cambridge Cable Cardigan looks terrific with the Sweet Potato Marcella. I think that there are Trixie heels that also have this color combo.

  35. OT-can someone clarify as I am back to avid J Crew shopping after a long respite...is final sale actually going to disappear from the site (when they say this is IT on that email?) I am thinking everyone is saying HELL-to-the-yes and we are glad! But I wondered if these items that say they are shipping 11/29 (which are newly added back on) will they stay on the site--do you follow? It seems they added a lot of styles that will ship 11/29--popular items it's hard to believe it will all go away. Any past experienced shoppers have some feedback.
Also-what if you need a different size and go to order it again after the FS is gone--has anyone ever just ordered using a style number with any luck?
    THanks!

  36. Everyone: Just wanted to let you all know that a very kind J.Crew employee shared with us that the EXTRA25 code does NOT exist.

However, the EXTRA20 does work. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't believe how fast some things went after the extra 20% e-mail went out this morning. I put four items in my shopping bag and by the time I checked out two items were no longer available. And here I was all excited about getting a white linen shirt for $16. Oh well, you snooze, you lose.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ugh, I just bought two final sale items two days ago! I wish I'd waited but some of the items I had in my cart had already disappeared so I went ahead and made the purchase... :(

    ReplyDelete
  39. That is so odd about the 25% not existing then. Does that mean final sale won't be over either?

    ReplyDelete
  40. so i guess it's back to the good old days when things would disappear out of your cart as you'r checking out..gosh, never thought i'd miss those days, but i sure appreciate that better than getting my orders cancelled all the time, especially without notification.

i've been good so far with this coupon, but i've bought waaaaaay too much over the last couple months. hope you ladies snatched some great htf pieces.

  41. JCrew Junkie,

So sorry to hear about the sweater holes! I just got two cashmere Collection pieces today with holes. I know they are only sweaters but I was so disappointed. I never had collection pieces before and had been so excited...thinking this is a manufacturing defect??? I don't know as they are in the same place on both colors of sweaters...

    ReplyDelete
  42. I ordered a sequin-stripe cardigan & it had two holes on the back. They were manufacturer defects for sure.

I'd love to do an exchange, but I doubt they have more in stock & it'll just cost more to ship it, etc. I guess I'll just have to patch the damn holes up myself. It's a good thing they're pretty small.

    *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  43. Marta,
I would take your sweater back to your local J Crew for a refund. Then you could do a seek & find and have them send you a new one.

  44. Hi all,

Just a quick sale report. I went to the Walnut Creek store last night. They had 30% off sale items as of 9PM last night.

I saw Watson pants at 59.99, they had Candace totes (gold, blue, green, yellow) for 109.99, some Cashmere long sleeve tees in bright blue, a few heathery pine, Tartine in Maize and Pewter, Belle skirts (many Rhubarb 19.99, 1 Fog in 10 59.99, 1 Honey Glaze), Wool Flannel Wrap Dress 129.99, Matchstick cords, Painter Tees, Puffer Vest promotion for $88, Marcellas at 49.99 (a few ivory, honey glaze, orange). There was lots of sale stuff.

Also tried on the new taffeta kick pleat skirt (cute but a little shorter), the satin bow tee (CUTE!), flower perfect tank (very cute, but its winter so not sure)City fit Gallery pant (these are nice but sorta no waistband, they had new coats but I didn't try on.

    Enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  45. JCrewjunkie- I've had that happen too. Sometimes the seams, especially the seams of the featherweight merino sweaters, just aren't up to par. I've only found holes/ seam issues on two cashmere pieces in several years of purchasing and they were good about taking them back even though they were the dreaded final sale.

Ann Arbor, MI store is having 30% off but pickings are pretty slim.

    ReplyDelete
  46. OK, after reading other people's comments on quality control issues I have to share my 2 recent issues! I received a short-sleeve cardigan with 2 black marker spots on the back AND the Amelia tank with snags and 2 pen marks on the back! Both in the same order!! Jcrew was certainly not that concerned when I emailed them: I could return the items (via mail only since they were FS and IF JCrew deemed the issues to be worth of a return, I would receive a refund ... and I bet they would have put them back up online!) or a could keep them and deal with it! The 2 items weren't available any longer, so I'm keeping them and dealing with it. No other remedy offered to the issues was offered! Bad JCrew!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Lindsey B. - wait, let me see if I've got this right. IF they deemed your defective items "return worthy", then they would give you a refund? What if they decided they weren't - you'd be out money and items? Sounds like a scare tactic to me. I bet a b&m would take them back right away given what they looked like.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I just received a Jackie shell that had a small hole in the arm pit area. I called customer service and they said to return it at my local store. When I went to the store they gave me some serious attitude about trying to return a FS item even though it was defective. They told me that they wouldn't take it back and the computer system wouldn't allow them to even if they wanted to take it back. I told the SA I had called CS and they told me I could return it and said they were going to put a note on my account. Magically, the SA was able to override the system and give me a credit for the item. Needless to say I will not be going back to that store for any future J Crew purchases.

  50. I'd love to take the sweater back to my local store, but I don't have one. I'm in Canada. The closest store is about a 13-hour drive away. :(

Jcrew, please open a store in West Edmonton mall. Please?

  51. OT -- Friends & Family sale at H&M for those who mix it up -->

    www.hmfriendsandfamily.com

I think you have to register and then have access to the coupon. Here are a few more details. Apparently this is a California & Nevada promo. Unsure if other states have promos:

"Get $10 off every $50 you spend at H&M from Thursday, October 16th until Sunday, October 19th."

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks for the heads up on the Sparkle Plaid Tweed Pencil Skirt, Slastena...I was out most of the day and missed it again...bummer...

    ReplyDelete
  53. I also got two cashmere sweaters with holes in them in the past month or so. I never had similar problems before besides (If anyone remembers) the yellow linen double breasted coat from last yet came with two buttons broken. I actually atrributed that to poor packaging (came not in a box, but in a bag, so the buttons were not protected at all). The coat was no longer available but they magically sent me a new one within 3 weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Blogger keeps eating my posts! Just wanted to let you ladies know, I got my Sparkle Tweed Pencil Skirt today and found it to run small - it came up much higher on my waist than I expected (and compared to my Double-Serge Pencil Skirts), and I could barely sit in it. Waah! Just wanted you to beware, if it pops up again you may want to check measurements with CS before buying.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Silver_lining: What size is your Sparkle Plaid Tweed Skirt?

    ReplyDelete
  56. It's a 2, FFM - so are my Double Serges, but the fit feels completely different to me.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Silver_Lining: I tried on the 4...it will need to be altered at the waist, but fits well everywhere else. I was considering the 2, but it may end up being a little too tight in the hip area...are you going to try for the larger size?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Btw...I would have offered to buy it from you, but I haven't tried the 2, so I'm uncertain about the fit. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I didn't order online, but I did call my b&m. They had my penelope flats in my size (only 1 left!), so he rang them up for me over the phone. I got the sale price, plus the 30%, plus the 15%. Yeah! I will pick them up Saturday. :D So excited! Plus, I'll get to see and try new items on then.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah, I almost feel like this one my be mismarked - it didn't have the black interior tag like other Collection pieces do, just the standard tag. I don't think that I'm going to try for the 4 unless I just happen upon it somewhere and can try it on. :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. FFM and Silver Lining

Oh boy--I ordered the 2 also because all the other sz 4 pencils were a little big so I thought 2 would be better/fine (BTW I am not a 2--usually a 4 in everyone else's clothing/skirts--I feel so bad for the true size 2 or zero as they have no way to buy at J Crew).
I may be in the same boat. Interesting because while I was ordering, I noticed it looked very TIGHT on the models butt too--check it out:)
I guess we shall see...come NOVEMBER/DECEMBER when it ships :P

    ReplyDelete
  62. Covert5 and Silver_Lining: The 2 could work for me IF I wore Spanx everytime to smooth out the *clinginess* around the hip area, but to me that's just not comfortable...is this an option for either of you? Maybe give it a try?

    ReplyDelete
  63. covert5, I noticed the same thing! Same with the metallic cloque pencil skirt - if you look at the model it doesn't look terribly flattering from the back, either. I may give the Spanx a try just for the heck of it - I like the material and think it would look great with some black tights (maybe just get some with "control top" or something)!

  64. Review of 2 items:

Matchstick Jeans in premium indigo. Well, these have a 14" leg opening. I think when these were originally introduced, they had a wider leg opening....like 15-16". On me, 14" is not a straight leg-it is a skinny. That said, it is very flattering on my hourglass shape.

These may go back, as the look is very 'young hollywood/trendy' and I'm not sure that's me. I'm well into my thirties. I would only wear these with flats, and that looks cute, but from some angles, I'm not so sure about the look.

The wash is beautiful and simple, with no 'look at me I'm a label!' stitching, which I really like. I may hold onto these and try them on a few more times to make up my mind.

Cashmere Argyle sweater in navy. Like a lot of cashmere in black and navy, not as soft as other colors. I think these dark dyes are harsher. Not rough though....still nice.

I wasn't impressed with this out of the box, but the minute I put it on, I was blown away by the perfect, flattering fit. Love. I have a lot of JC cashmere, some fitting better than others. This is truly one of their most flattering fits. It's also just plain beautiful. A keeper.

Well, at least one thing worked out. I'll have to really think about those jeans.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Annon at 5:55

Keep the jeans! If they are very flattering on you, work it out!

    ReplyDelete
  66. anon @ 5:55...I agree with Steph! If they are flattering, go for it! Who cares if you're in your 30's? I've seen many "older" women who pull of a mature look with skinnier jeans. Heck, I'm in my 20's and can't pull it off... :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. You really should keep the matchsticks if they fit. I'm 40 and I still wear them. Besides the narrower leg opening makes them that much easier to tuck into some really chic boots. I do this with the Glenbrae flat grey suede boots and it looks good. By NO means am I'm skinny...definitely curvy. Go for it and rock it out!!!! You only live once!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anon @5:55: I agree that you should keep the Matchstick Jeans...I am planning to purchase a pair, and I am in my late 30's. :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. OT: I just got an email from BR letting me know that if I bring in a sweater or coat to donate, they will give me 30% off full priced items. Just an FYI....

I think it's a nice way to contribute/share with others less fortunate.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thank you everyone for the feedback on the Matchsticks. It's the first time I've ever looked at myself in something like that, and it's different, but cute. I've always been a bootcut girl. You all are convincing me though! It's still a classic look....I think, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Anon @ 5:55 - I'm a fan of Keep the Matchsticks! If they fit and look good, it's a major score considering they are jeans (difficult to find good ones).

It's really nice to have the slim contrast if you wear a more voluminous top. I also 2nd the 'wear 'em with a short boot' comment. Now, if you throw on a vest, hanes tank top & scarf, you may be in trend trouble, but just the jeans? Keepers. This is coming from a bootcut only girl.

  72. okay got two of my orders today, the heather silver peplum jacket in one order by itself, and the other order consisted of the cashmere flora dress, lydia solid blouse, foldover yoga pant and ergonomic yoga short. i'm very disappointed to say that the flora dress had a hole in it. The Lydia blouse was quite nice actually, i'm an XS so i ordered Xs since its the smallest size, and while the top has a trapeze shape, it fits really nice, i got it in the blueish color, forgot the name, color is quite muted and a nice shade, would definitely get it in the purple if it ever goes on sale, other than that i really liked the foldover yoga pant, it's quite comfy, fit tts or bigger compared to some other yoga brands, and the fabric is not super stretchy but comfortable. the shorts are okay, not too bad. and the peplum, was a little disappointing as well, i was really excited about it since i'm already madly in love with my bright blue and black ones but the color on this one seemed kinda blah, if you are getting a peplum, definitely get it in a fun color.

  73. I didn't purchase anything from Final Sale (ick), but I did use the RCLK code for a 10% discount, which actually ended up saving me more money that the F10H7C code would have.

I got the matchstick cord in faded cement, and the cambridge cardigan in navy blue. I think they will look nice together, and since temperatures next week are in the 50's they can't come soon enough!

  75. This morning I spoke with a JCrew CS on the phone and she said the new merchandise would be on the web Friday night. As far as the stores go, it depends on how quickly they display the merchandise.

    ReplyDelete
  76. silver_lining: I think you're right. I'm sure my b&m would have taken them back, but I really wanted them and my sizes weren't available anymore! I feel like a sucker ... but it sounds like I'm not the only one. I have to say though, if it had been full price, or a defect that would effect the durability or wearability of the item, I would have sent them back!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anon @ 5:55 - ditto on gigiofca's comment. I was in a similar quandry, and bought the matchsticks as advised, which I love.

    ReplyDelete
  78. tarik: I have the cricket sweater, I got it at the end of August and it's great. It actually sold out at full pop and all they had left were XL.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I placed an order for 11 items at the end of last week and even with the postal holiday on Monday, my items arrived on my doorstep today. JCrew is definitely getting better with the online stock/shipment problems. However, out of the 11 items I purchased, only 3 of them fit. I've about given up trying to fit into their "blousy" type offerings, because even when I size down significantly, they're still enormous through the body. Maybe they just don't work for my body type. I emailed J Crew about the fit problems and they agreed to take everything back and apply the credit to my card, which I thought was more than generous considering everything I bought was on final sale. I love their customer service and will continue to buy from them for that reason, among many others. Just thought I'd share my positive CS experience regarding final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I have received two final sale orders from JCrew in the last week and a half. Last week I got the slub silk shell, the Jackie cardigan in red and the serengeti belt. This week I got the merino jewel button cardigan and the silvie dress.

Echoing other commenters, I am frustrated with the fit. Nothing seems to be consistent. The Jackie cardigan in M is kind of big on me but the jewel button cardigan in M is tight. The serengeti belt in M was far too big. Luckily I was able to exchange it for a S. A little while back I ordered the cashmere Olivia shell in a M and I was swimming in it! I ended up exchanging it for a S which is still pretty large on me. I think I am going to stick to B&M purchases for awhile.

  81. FFM, Silver_lining, Covert 5:

I also got my Sparkle Tweed Pencil Skirt and found it to run small too! Sparkle Tweed is little tight in waist, about a half inch smaller (flat measurement) than Double serge, while both are same size in hip. Not sure whether it is because of fabric, but same with Parfait skirt - it was too big in the waist for me.

Silver_lining, you are right! My Sparkle Tweed does not have a collection tag either (I don't care about it so much though:)

  82. For anyone who owns Belle skirts, I was wondering how's the length / fit of that skirt, if I'm about 5' 4''?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Can anyone tell me how the skinny patent leather belts fit? Should I size down or no?

    ReplyDelete
  84. nerdycrew - I am 5'2" and the skirt hits me at lower to mid knee. I think it is TTS, however that being said, I always size down on skirts from my pants size - so if you are going from pants sizing, size down.
kitchy 7 - size down on the skinny belt. I have the serengetti and it is huge (even when I wear it around my hips).

  86. At a B&M, I got two laminated totes, autumn stripe and rhubarb: they were $19.99 and 30% off. Also got hipslung jeans 32S because I finally found jeans that fit and while I already have a pair, wanted a "back up pair': $69.99 and 30% off. That's probably it for the month....

  87. Has anyone had any problems with holes in any cotton jcrew t-shirts? It seems almost every cotton shirt I buy ends up with 1-2small holes toward the bottom front of the shirt. I'm wearing a brand new t-shirt right now (ok i didn't wash it first, yuck;-) but I usually do) and after wearing for one day it has a hole in it! Any thoughts?
