Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?

Yes, it is that wonderful time again! :)

A big "thanks!" to 丁瑋 who let us know (in the post "Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?") that J.Crew is offering free shipping with no minimum with promo code JUSTASK. It is unclear when this offer expires.

Also, "thanks!" to Danielle who let us know that J.Crew is offering free shipping on $150+ with promo code S11R47E. This offer expires 10/23/08.

P.S. I love these kind of promotions!!! :)

  1. thank you Alexis!
btw, I think the website is down again.

I'm also rather baffled: I was told that the Maggie jacket and the Victorian shirt (which I ordered earlier today) were actually pre-sales? If so, why were they not marked as such on the website? Did anyone else order either items successfully? I understand that both are in the stores already (is that right?). I needed a petite size--hence, the phone order.

  2. Hi Auryane! The website seems to be working for me- but I know all too well that the site can work fine for some customers and be down for others. :)

Also, I was able to put both the Victoria and Maggie items in my cart (and it said "in-stock") so hopefully you can too. :)

  3. I just ordered the maggie in petite from the website. I hope I was successful - looked like there were 5 left in my size and color. I was pregnant last year for the bellas - I am hoping this is my bella! I love these coupons too - when I get my rewards card I hope I can use this coupon and my rewards!

  4. Great coupon code...THANKS!!!

OT: On the Maggie...I was also told I had to pre-order when I called in early in the morning (even though the jacket was in my cart), and after hearing about others successfully ordering online, I called back to check on the status of my pre-order...WELL...THEY COULDN'T FIND IT! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Another regular order was placed for me last night, so we'll see if I get my jacket or not since other customers had been ordering it all day, and noone knows how many they actually really have at this point. The next shipment of Maggie's comes in on November 18th. Btw...I haven't placed an order since the end of August, and now I totally remember why...I spent almost 1.5 hours total yesterday trying to order, find out what happened to that order, and then place a new order...totally ABSURD!!!

  5. Btw...Final Sale is still going on...wasn't it supposed to be the last days of it according to that email from earlier this week? I hope it really DOES end...also, I ordered a Jackie Shell and Jackie Cardigan in Black yesterday, and the email confirmation shows them both as Final Sale, even though they were Full Price items.

  6. Aw I just placed my orders I hated paying that shipping on my 2nd order the 10% didn't cover the cost since it was for a small item.

  7. ffm: Sorry to hear about your trouble getting the Maggie jacket hope it works out for you.

I found out yesterday that when you press 2 it is not really CS, they had to transfer me to CS after I told her my problem (I had to convince them that they overcharged me on an item, they put the wrong price on the web site and changed it the next day).

Website not working for me either.

  8. Hi FFM, I was just thinking the same thing - for some reason I thought it was ending last night. Agh!

Did you get the same size in both the shell and the cardigan?

    ReplyDelete
  9. FFM and others....The email concerning end of final sale meant the additional 20% off of final sale was in its last days.....The final sale is not ending I was told by CS this morning....

  10. This is a very nice coupon code...However, I am holding off.....there are bound to be better sales coming up...I can wait...there will be Maggie's on sale come Dec. or Jan. or Feb. One always pops up if I am patient and watch like a Hawk! Last year I got my Bella in black velvet from online for approx. $35!

I had a pair of embrod. crab flip flops on back order since June 8. They finally popped up in the size and color I wanted on Wed.! They shipped out on Friday and I paid approx. $6 for them. Waiting and checking can pay off.

  11. Silver_Lining: I actually purchased my normal Small in the shell, but sized up to a Medium in the Jackie because I intend to wear long sleeve shirts under it this Fall/Winter. I'm going to my B&M today, but they are completely sold out of Jackie Cardigans, and they usually don't even carry the shells.

anon@6:54: Thanks for the info about Final Sale...my Store Director told me it wasn't actually really ending when I spoke with her on Tuesday, but I was hoping that perhaps she just meant in the stores (although I hate Final Sale in store, too). Looks as if this could be eternal...UGH!!!

  12. That's so weird about FS - I remember getting an e-mail last Saturday that said "last week of our final sale" (and the other blog actually posted that e-mail about a week ago). Bummer, I wanted to get some sale sweaters for Christmas gifts but won't bother if they're unreturnable.

On the subject of Jackies, I wonder what happened to the Regal Purple and Kelly Green ones - they seemed to disappear with the new stuff and are not in FS either. Hopefully they'll pop up (along with a Heather Silver Maggie, but that may be a pipe dream!)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I echo the sentiments for final sale! I hope I get my maggie, but if I don't I will know that it is not meant to be. It seems odd that when I ordered there was no date like there usually is when you order something waitlisted/backordered. We will see.

  14. For people who have ordered Maggies, what color are y'all getting? I wish there was a grey...

  15. Thanks!!! Just worked for me. I had an online/catalog item I wanted to get but didn't want to pay shipping!

  16. FFM: I just sent you an email....

  17. Does anyone have the retro dark chambray swing skirt? I just saw it on final sale for $19.99...and I remember wanting this when it came out like a year ago!! For anyone who has it, I'd love some input as to how it fits, color, etc. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Appgal, the consensus here was definitely to size up or else it will be too short to get the almost hitting the knee look that the model had. I'm a 2 and ordered a 6 and it looked good - I did order a 2 originally and it hit right at the waist and looked more like a mini! So it depends on the look that you're going for - the bigger size will hang more at the hips, but it has the pleating on the front that is quite flattering.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks silver_lining! hmm...well I went ahead and ordered a sz 4 because I saw that there was only one left-- I didn't want to miss out again! This was before I read your comment. I'm usually between a 2 and 4...do you think I'll be okay?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anyone have any experience with the Lizzie Driving Mocs? I am interested in the metallic silver. I know the sizing is whole sizes, I'm a 9.5 in most shoes, and the site says half sizes go down. Do they stretch like the description implies? Are they comfortable?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Starla: I actually ordered the Lizzie Driving Mocs in silver. So cute!! HOWEVER, I found the sizing to be off. I normally wear a 5 and/or 5 1/2 in JCrew and the 5 was too big. I had to send them back and order the crewcut version in size 3. The crewcut version is so comfy.

O/T - did anyone find the Juliet safari heel ran small? I was actually able to fit into a 6...and I have NEVER worn a 6 in my life!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks for the coupon! I ordered the Seag lass swimsuit, wouldn't have if had to find other items to add up to $100/150, like we've become accustomed lately. I think they really want to clear out stock, and don't care how small the orders get. The shipping charges that I saved were more than the actual merchandise total. I don't get how they can afford giving it for low cost items, and not for full price or somewhat reduced merchandise. I soo loved it when the 20-30% off could be used together with free shipping last year, I bought lots over the holidays, didn't think much before pressing the submit-your-order button. I hope they will bring it back - great incentive to buy for me, no store in Canada - oh well, some day...I think many people have their fingers crossed on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Danielle, I definitely found the Juliet safari heels to run small - I take a 9 in JC heels and the 9 was definitely too small. I even held it up to my other Juliets for comparison and they were noticeabley smaller in the toe box.

Sometimes JC will put a note on their item description if a shoe runs large or small - wish they would do that for the Safaris!

  24. What a great coupon. I snagged a pair of fleece pants for TV surfing. I've wanted them for awhile, but by the time I found other sale items to put with them they were always sold out. I hope this coupon sticks a round for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Starla, I haven't tried the Lizzie but Kingston mocs are *huge*--I wound up having to give mine away. I wear a 7 and I'm pretty sure I could have taken a 6 in them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Has anyone seen Jamie sweater jackets on FS in a store? I am looking for an XS.

    ReplyDelete
  27. FFM - Good luck w/your order. Do they give you a confirmation number on pre-orders?

Anonymous @ 11:33a - I have only seen Jamies on eBay. I sized up in that to a M and I am very happy. However, I am a 34C. I purchased 2 of them from eBay. I highly recommend it.

I hear what people are saying about waiting to buy things on sale, but I've changed my mind on that. I have slub henleys, shorts with gold dots on them and other items I can't wear until next year. I may not even be interested in them when the weather changes again. My point is sometimes I wait so long for something to be marked down that I don't have enough time to enjoy it for the season. I'll get it if I know I'll wear it right away. Sure, it's not fun to see something at a rock bottom price if I paid full price, but if I've gotten a ton of wear out of it by the time the sale hits I don't worry about it. I don't need the stress of worrying about whether my size will be there.

In other news...I peg rolled my chinos yesterday a la the 80s and I LOVED the look. I had them hemmed, but not enough to wear with flip flops so pegging was a great option. I didn't do them too tight. Just enough fold to make a roll and stay put.

    ReplyDelete
  28. amisha - I went with the Maggie jacket in camel and black. I figured if I was going to spend that much on a jacket, I'd better stick to classic colors. But the yellow was really tempting!

starla729 - I have the Lizzie driving mocs in chocolate and they are super comfy. I had to try on a couple of pairs to get the sizing right though -- I stuck with my normal size (9), but the first pair I tried on was too big on my left foot, which was really weird because my left foot is slightly bigger than my right. But seriously, they're very comfy -- I bought them to wear instead of ballet flats for when I'm going to be walking outside for a few hours but still want to wear cute flats.

    ReplyDelete
  29. just ordered two maggies in black and bright berry! i can't wait and thank you for the free shipping code. this is going to be a great birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks! I was able to get another pair of the stretch bermuda shorts for $15! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. appgal- Re the skirt, I think it depends on how tall you are. I went up one size, the skirt sits low on the waist and hits an inch or two above my knee. I'm 5'4"

Gigi- I totally agree with you. I haven't purchased any sale items in a couple months. I feel like they are on sale for a reason and I am tired of being disappointed. I'd rather pay more for something I am crazy about and have all season to wear it.

OT_ has anyone reviewed the Lulu pumps or flats? Are they tts, somewhat comfy lol?

    ReplyDelete
  32. shannon - I tried the Lulu pumps and I found them to be TTS. I tried 7.5, my size, and loved it. Felt comfortable, too. The honey glaze is pretty but the contrasting bow looks cheap in contrast. It's too syrupy in the darker yellow. I love the pink. The red bow is actually a regular red if I recall correctly and they are so fun. The burnt sienna was nice, but not exciting imo. Could be a nice basic, though. And I the dark cloud/gray was nice. The patent bow is definitely going to attract some attention so I don't see wearing these a lot. I can wait for a sale.

  33. I wanted to warn everyone that I had to return a pair of shoes yesterday that I purchased in April, the Callie ballet flats. While I love the shoes my co-worker pointed out to me Thursday that the seam was coming apart. Indeed, if I had worn them much longer they would have totally come apart. I took them back to the store even though I ordered them in April, but they were lightly worn as I won a lot of shoes. The manager agreed that they were cute but then kind of laughed and said she had seen a few pairs come back for this very problem. So, if you have these shoes, take note. Mine fell apart with a rip on the inside by the buckle closure, which strained the seam at the toe and made it come undone.

  35. appgal, I also have the chambray swing skirt. I find mine to be a bit short, as I am 5'9". However, I have lost weight since I purchased it and now it sits a bit lower, which helps. But i do remember getting it, trying it on, then looking it up online and realizing that my definition of "knee-length" varies greatly from J.Crew's definition, in this and other examples.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Shannon: thanks for your input! I had no idea there was an entire post dedicated to this skirt back in June! I just read all the comments and am a little uneasy about it...but I just called CS and the nice rep I talked to made a note that I could return it if needed, even though it's on final sale. I'm crossing my fingers that it works--it just looks so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  37. jacquelyn--thanks! (and congrats on your weight loss!) I'm 5'6" but have really short legs :) so who knows how it's going to work. I'm sure it's different on every body. At least I have the option of returning it now. And it was only 19.99 :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. starla729: I wear a 9 and the the Lizzie silver mocs fit me well. There is a little extra room in the toe, but it the toe box is a little tapered, so they don't seem big. I haven't worn them enough to have them stretch out, but I don't think it's a problem. I think the 10's would be too big for you, so I'd probably order a 9. Hope that helps!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks danielle, hexicon, kitchy7, and leslie for your input. :)

  42. While some of us are venting a bit about the still dysfunctional website, let me add something...

Don't cha' just love that you have to guess what the colors of the sale bootcut cords are? I mean go ahead and make your best visualization of what the color "mossy shadow" is and then just go for it..it's only a final sale item.
This has been a problem since they went up so it's not like they are trying very hard to fix it.
I actually did buy some site unseen--I MUST be a TRUE AFICIONADA!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I never worry about my size being missing from the sale section...there will always be something I like so if it's gone...so what???

I have about 25 items that I bought from last season at incredible prices so it is like new to me...I noticed things like the Julia silk blouse that was $98 to begin with I got for $19.99 and it is gorgeous! However, yesterday it was online for $59.99. So they mark up stuff from last season...

    ReplyDelete
  44. covert5--you can actually see some of the colors if you choose the "petite" option. You may not want to buy petite, but you can at least see the colors :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. starla 729: I have the Lizzie in silver and I'm a wide 6 1/2. I sized down and they fit great! I was surprised since I have a wide foot, but I didn't even have any problems with the first wear.

  46. Has anyone hand washed their rose tee? The tag reads "dry clean". I was told unless it reads dry clean only you can hand wash. Any tips would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  47. appgal--thanks SO much for the tip! The only thing I will add to my comment is--I would have bought MORE now that I can see the colors! Good for the wallet--not so smart on J Crew's part:(

    ReplyDelete
  48. so will they give me free shipping if they applied the student discount to it?

    thanks!

  49. Alexis:

It seems to be just firefox (my usual browser). I tried safari, and it works just fine. Hmmm...strange.

    FFM:

I'm in the same boat as you. They can't find my order with the Maggie. I was told that since it's a pre-order, it won't show up on anything until it actually goes through (no confirmation numbers either). The girl who originally handled the maggie order told me that it should ship on Monday. If I don't have a confirmation number by the end of monday...I'm going to call in again.

    *sighs*

    ReplyDelete
  50. amisha:

Actually, I saw a picture of a light grey (silvery/dove-grey) one. But it's not listed as one of the color choices.

I'm going with the bright yellow. *grins* I already have a black, a grey, and 2 navy jackets of this length, so I figure that I'll need the variety.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Has anyone actually tried on the Maggie jacket?

I just don't honestly get the hype about it...it is rather plain/basic (for my tastes). Just wondering about the actual fit, feel of the fabric, etc.

Thanks for anyone who has tried it on/seen it:)

I might consider it on sale but definitely not a unique piece for full price like the Bella was:)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I don't really get all the hype about the Maggie jacket either...very plain-looking IMHO. I guess it's good if you live in a warmer climate but does definitely not look warm enough for any real winter temperatures.

    ReplyDelete
  53. OT, add to the list of JC sweaters falling apart. I bought a jackie cardigan last month, wore it once, and the tag fell off leaving a hole in the back right below the collar. I was intent on getting a refund after this. I live closer to the collection store in NYC than any of the "regular" stores, so I called and asked if they accepted returns from the "normal" stores. They said yes. (Btw I thought it was amusing that they answered the phone "ten thirty-five" instead of "J.Crew.") Anyway, I brought back the sweater and got a refund. I'll echo the sentiments of prior posters on the collection store--basically same stuff as regular stores with less stock and a few more collection items thrown in. Nice, but not worth a special trip. They did give me a bottle of pelligrino while I was waiting on line (instead of the usual Poland Spring!) and their shopping bags are a nice off white paper instead of the brown of the regular stores.

    ReplyDelete
  54. cass,
Thanks for posting about your sweater experience...I guess it makes me feel better b/c I have had problems too with various sweaters and I Know I am not the only one. I sometime feel like..."Am I the only one who gets defective merchadise and everyone else is just fine with their stuff?" I guess what I am saying is while I don't like to hear constant complaining it is nice to hear I am not alone!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anon @ 3:51, yes, and my post shortly after the post about someone's shoes falling apart! It's very ironic--I bought the sweater at the Rockefeller Center store, and they have a big sign up that says "we're obsessed with quality."

I've also def had a lot of buttons falling off JC sweaters, but at least with those you can just sew them back on, even if annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Cass,

Yes, the button thing! I once sewed every button back on my snow cashmere cardigan...it had a seahorse on it...the buttons were falling off when I bought it at the store and one was already missing but I just took the extra button off the inside tag and sewed it on...guess that is why it was on sale and no one had bought it but I thought of checking the inside for the extra button.

I have about 5 sweaters that I bought last season and I tug on all the buttons and check them before wearing and sew on any loose ones! I have learned!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Annon 11:33 AM,

I saw Jamie Jacket in xs available online in the mornings, couple times, so you might be able to find one if you check tomorrow in the morning or something?

    ReplyDelete
  58. anon at 2:29: I washed the rose tee and it came out just fine. The tag says dry clean or wash. I turned it inside out, placed it in a mesh lingerie bag, washed it on gentle cycle, then laid flat to dry.

  62. Re The Maggie Hype:

One person's 'plain' is another persons 'sophisticated'.

I think it really depends on age, workplace, and of course, taste. For me, the Bella, while cute, and a nice cut, was too kitschy and quaint, just not my style. The yoke front and the ruffly collar simply wouldn't work in an urbane setting. To me it's very 'Edwardian Lit Major' and not really 'Marketing Exec'. JMHO.

The Maggie is elegant, beautifully cut, sophisticated, and doesn't seem like it's recalling any specific past Era, thus for me, it's way more versatile.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Great blog- so helpful!
What happened to the price of the uptown tote? Wasn't it $245 last week? Now it's on final sale for the same price.
Has anyone seen the leather thompson tote in a store? I'm wondering about the bottom of the bag- specifically, whether the shape holds or it sags down.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Does anyone know what happened with the grey maggie? There was a picture of it online that I found through google, though not through searching the jcrew website. Do you think they'll offer a grey maggie later? The pictures of the black maggie on the model online do look like it was originally a grey jacket, but photoshopped black. The grey was my favorite color, so I sure hope they offer that version in the future! I think I'll go with the camel if not.

    ReplyDelete
  65. covert5 & anon @ 5:07: even better...what would we buy with 20-30% off, free shipping, and NO FINAL SALE?!?! :)

  67. Agreed about the buttons - last year I bought the Pembroke tweed lady jacket, part of the collection, and 2 of the buttons came off within days! I was lucky enough to notice at the time, so I was able to save them and sew them back on...and then reinforced all of the others, just to be safe. I find myself doing this on a number of items, mainly coats and cardigans.

  69. Anon @ 5:09 - I second your comments about the Maggie. The jacket looks clean and classic and the double collar and waistband add an extra touch.

I was at a B&M yesterday and the velvet ecoles were marked down to $98 (not a final sale).

  70. AppGal, covert5 & anon @ 5:07 - Oh yeah...I am up for the What Would

  72. Best Coupon Code ever. I always hate having to spent 100-175+ to be eligible for free shipping. I was able to get the Airy Bow favorite tank and that totally made my day. :-)

P.S. Does anyone know if you can combine coupon codes on the website. Didn't see any option to do that. Also if you have the jCrew credit card do you get free shipping or anything aside from the rewards?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anon @ 8:01,

Do you know what colors of the velvet ecoles were marked down? Was the navy one of them?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Elise - there is no way to combine codes. J.Crew is very strict/stingy about that.

Also, as a card member, I can tell you there are no free shipping benefits.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I really like the Maggie as well, and ordered it in the yellow. I think the black would be my second choice. I kind of took a guess at my size and really hope I picked right, because from all the orders it sounds like I will be lucky to get it, much less have a second chance. :) I still think the verdict is out on whether it is worth its current price but I knew I had to order it, so I could at least see how it fit and felt.

I really wish there weren't so many catalog / online only items, I'm very into the feel of my clothes and I hate having to order blindly, especially because my fiancee gives me SUCH a hard time about going into the store to do the returns.

  76. Does anyone know how the wool-cashmere Carrie coat fits? Thanks!

i was thinking about it in ivory but i'm not sure about how dirty it would get!

    ReplyDelete
  77. anon @ 8:28 - the green and papaya ecoles were marked down to 89.99 plus the extra 30% at Charleston, SC. The other colors were 98. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  78. love, I thought the Carrie was pretty TTS, but it was quite A-line (the website says "slight A-line shape, but I felt like I looked like a bell in it!) on me, and depending on how you like your collars, the high collar and tie was a little overkill for me.

In theory, I would love an ivory/sea salt coat, but it's just not realistic for me. Plus, I saw some in the store (the Felicia, for example) that looked kind of dingy, and that's just from trying them on! If you live in a place where you don't have to worry about slush/road salt/etc in the winter it may not be that big of a deal.

    ReplyDelete
  79. silver_lining -- I have the Plaza coat in ivory, and I live in Chicago, where it can get really gross outside. Good coat story -- I was walking down a sidewalk a couple of days after a snow, when everything was melted and icky, and a car went through a puddle and splashed black mud and water all over my coat. I took it into my dry cleaner, and she got every spot out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Anon @ 8:28 - Yes the navy ecole was one of them marked down to 98! Honey glaze was also at that price. I wanted to pick one up in navy but they didn't have my size. I saw this price at the B&M in El Segundo, CA. Phone number: 310-607-0136

  81. Just wanted to say: Thanks, Alexis! And say THANKS! to appgal for the tip that if you call they could make an exception about returning final sale. I saw a pair of cords online FS in petites, but I haven't tried on JCrew petites in years and years and of course can't try them at the store. :( The CS rep said she would put a note on my order so I can return them if they don't fit. Yay!!

They wouldn't let me stack the free shipping and my student discount, so I went for the shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  82. thanks silver_lining! was it a lot more a-line than it looked in the pictures?

    ReplyDelete
  83. about the cords . . . it looks like these are all last year's colors and probably cut. I fit the 2 shorts, but the 2 petite was too tight, if that helps anyone. Some of the pants this year have the same inseam in petite and short, but last year, the petites were shorter.

  84. I was browsing around the site tonight and noticed that the Esme gown was listed at $1200 and is now $1000 even! Are they changing a lot of the prices of the items?

  85. Is anyone else also having lots of issues with the website? Have tried using both firefox and IE but it's not loading...

  86. Anon Asking about Lie Metallic Silver mocs. Yes they do run large- I would go at least a half if not full size down- This is based on trying them on, not wearing them over time for what that is worth. They have a ton of them in Minneapolis @ the Southdale location. I was there for work late last week and they were either $89 or $69 + 30% off. They must have had 10+ pairs- so might be a good bet to call them if you are looking:)

  87. love, on me it seemed a lot more A-line than I expected (I'm a hair under 5'5") and the sleeves seemed more bracelet length than long. The Aficionadas have been noticing more difference between how items look on the website and how they look in real life (ie, the Floral-Ruffle Astrid jacket and Dana coat), so what you see online may not necessarily be what you get all the time. Kind of weird!

  88. Couldn't they tell that by using the JUSTASK that we are the normal readers for this blog?

Anyway, I guess it's useful for people who are not near a physical store, but I just go to my nearest retail and order off the red phone.

I ordered the maggie in ivory. I think the popularity has the do with the photo angle shot. Looked kind of cool with the stirring in the back and the double collar.

The bella in wool isn't very Edwardian/Victorian, btw. The collar folds down and the bib yoke is not very noticeable. It's just a very well tailored jacket. I guess the velvet will be a bit more romantic looking and less formal.

Sometimes I wonder if there is a concerted campaign to have people post very negatively in this blog so it will either drive readers away and make Alexis give up and not post anything interesting or shut down the comments.

  89. HI ALL! New to this so please be patient.

I see there are mutliple codes on here and that teachers also get 15% off. Are you able to use, say the free shipping sode, the 10% code and also apply for the 15% code.
    Just wondering...
