J.Crew New Holiday Catalog... Coming Soon {yey!}

Covert5 was kind enough to sharewhat new items (both in the new catalog and in-stores) had to offer. The following is a portion of her comment (which can be found in its entirety in this this post) :

"Cover is metallic shoes/flats! Metallic colors are big with them--like the metallic skinny belts if you want to reference right away those are on the web. There are pumps inside in metallics.

I was at my store today--they had these new perfect fit tanks $29.50 (GREAT BEAUTIFUL COLORS!) with the darling chiffon rosettes on the shoulder (think rosette merino cardi) but my PS and I agreed you cannot wear them alone (for very much longer)and they DO NOT work under cardi based on the placement of the flowers. It's a bummer as they are DARN CUTE! They are in the new catalog and would be great for spring but I don't know about winter--they will sell but more for vacations and maybe right away weather as it is still so nice in many places. (I expect they will go on sale/promo...I mean I think they prob made a lot of them!)

There is a new rosette cardi that is SO PRETTY in heather acorn and heather chalk. Only saw in catalog.

Also IN STORE-DID NOT SEE IN CATALOG--some great tees with silk/satin rosettes and bows they are $49.50 and yes, it is a t-shirt. I caved with the 20% for one of them. ...

One of my fav items but it wasn't in the store was a new cardi with turn back cuffs that had two vintage buttons on the cuff and down the front-merino and $78! (Good starting price really.) OMG-this is SO going in my wardrobe! All these great colors!

Also-they are making the cashmere crewneck cardi to look like jackie in a RAINBOW of colors- GORGEOUS!
But I am adding here that I am not sure it is all that different than before-something seems different but they lay out out all the gorgeous colors in the catalog and they do such a GREAT job of enticing:)

Some new colors in peacoat-heather charcoal, dark poppy, navy.
Big wedding section-very pretty.

There's a long sleeve victoria ruffle shirt with ruffles on front but cuffs TDF--yet--not great colors-kinda plain stripes and couple solids-would have been great in fun colors IMO. But nice for work enviro.
There's a fun pembridge dot pencil skirt in a ivory/gold metallic polka dot and black/gold dot that is fun and great for holidays.

There is a jacket called Maggie double serge--looks VERY cool/cute. Comes in deep yellow, camel, ivory, heather bright berry and black-gotta have it $250. You'll understand when you see it.
They are showing a VERY cool bracelet with it and on the opposite page--really fun! $75-$95 depending on width.

Fun colors in a thicker tie-neck cardi-kind of dream fabric $148

Another cardi with bows around the neckline--very cute! $110

There is a new ruffle neck cami replacement for Eliz or lydia blouse that is GORGEOUS! I mean this is TDF ladies--you will LOVE IT! Comes in great colors $88 and one that is ivory with tiny black polka dots $98

Cashmere sweaters with 2 cute new things going on at the neck.

There is a new coat madeline $330 that is pretty darn cute--for those looking to buy a new coat--you might want to wait--there's a least 3 new ones maybe 4.

VELVET ECOLE in NEW COLORS--they brought out more people! Tawny olive, cobalt blue, dark fossil (charcoal), swt papaya, navy and black.
...

Let me add there is the token weird outfit here or there. The models look much happier and certainly less dreary stage than the past. A few new ones (to me anyway) The whole catalog is just brighter and happier:)
... "

In the same post, Anonymous at 4:05 PM shared with us the following about the new catalog:

"hello- I am an associate and have info on the new catalog. It is not a location catalog. We have it in store, but it is still in boxes in back and we are not allowed to display it yet. I think we are going to put it out on Wednesday, which is when our rollout is coming."

"Thanks!" to Covert5 for an excellent review! Also, "thanks!" to the J.Crew employee who let us know when to expect the new catalog and arrivals in stores. I am super excited and can't wait to get a copy of the catalog!

Are you excited about the new catalog? Will you be checking out the new arrivals in stores this week? :)

  1. So, if they're putting out new stuff on Wed. does that mean they'll probably move more stuff to the sale section?

  2. I am SO excited about the new catalog. I usually receive my 'materials' about 2 days after the major release of them, but I'll wait patiently. Luckily I am near 3 b&ms to visit in-person. Also, I've been able to create acquaintance relationships w/some of the SAs and I have such a good time in the stores. I expect to open a Crew card as soon as my BR and Macys are paid off. I like to have a little bit of restraint when I can ;-)

Yay covert5, my fellow ruffle nut.

  3. It is hard for me to visualize, even with covert5's descriptions so I can't wait to see them for myself!

  4. Thanks Covert5 for sharing this great description of the new items coming.. Really looking forward to see the "long sleeve victoria ruffle shirt" in person. I wonder how much it costs.. I love details like ruffles, bows, flowers and anything metallic.

  5. Was able to snag a catalog at my B&M today and since I am in love with everything J Crew puts a rose on I am anxious to see this tank in person. Merino Tres Rosette Tank- (99324T) Looks really cute in the catalog and more practical than the new perfect fit tanks. Tried on the the tissue sequin stripe henley- cute, but too low cut for me! Really excited to see the Maggie Double-Serge jacket & the Star Simone cardigan and Metallic Vita Cami- wow- looks amazing in the catalog. It is a really dark grey dream cardigan with metallic trim on the front with a dark grey metallic tank underneath-Perfect for a holiday event!

  6. Do the catalogs get sent out before the website is updated with new stuff?

  7. Great info. Anyone know when the new line will debut though? And anything on menswear?

  8. (Not that I frequent it, but) I saw a picture of the new cardi with the turnback cuffs on another of the public Blogger blogs about J.Crew. It is adorable and on my new must-have list. Also pictured there is a TDF skirt (pencil?) that has a very refined bow at the front waist - I will be waiting anxiously for this one, too!

I can't wait to see more of this new collection!

  9. FSW, Yes, I saw the 2 items you mentioned. My two favorite colors are purple and pink but that pink on that sweater is way to bright for me. I saw it in person this weekend and it is like neon 80's pink in person. I love the styling but had to pass. Where are the pretty pinks????

    Love the skirt though....very cute:)

  10. I really wish someone who already has the catalog would scan it, and then send the pics to Alexis to post here...someone? ANYONE???? Her email is:

    jcrewaficionada@yahoo.com

The catalog sounds MUCH better than the last one...I am hoping we see a lot more muted colors...I am tired of the UBER-BRIGHTS, especially for Fall/Winter. I am also VERY excited to hear of so many bows and ruffles...YAY!

    ReplyDelete
  11. The sweater that is pictured on the other blog with the turn back cuffs has the same kind of buttons that are on the City Tee Grosgrain cardi and they are a PAIN IN THE BUTT to do up, I have to pull it over the my head, so this sweater is a pass for me.

IMO the bowes and ruffles have no staying power, it is fine for 1 item of 2, but more than that it is a little much.

JC bring back the muted colors, enough of the neon brights, they have been featured now for most of this year.

  12. FFM: Amen to that. I really don't think I can wait until Wednesday...

  13. I am going to the Rock store in about 2 hours--if they have the new copy, I will scan it when I get back and post

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anon @10:07: Please ask if they have them *in the back* if they aren't out at the counter. THANK YOU!!! I hope you're able to get one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Should I ask for the November catalogue if I do not see it out?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anon @10:25: I personally would ask for it...I believe the stores are supposed to have gotten them, but some stores don't have them unpacked and out yet. I would ask the SA to check in the back and bring one out to you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. K, I'll go up and ask some of the SA's for it. They have been pretty nice about requests in the past. I'll post if it got it asap. I'll also take pics if I see anything new

    ReplyDelete
  18. My SA said they were in boxes in back and just being held until Wednesday of this week. She said that all new merch should be out by Thurs at the latest. I bet they will bring them out for good Aficionadas!

Yes the flowers on the new tanks are not really in a good spot? Not sure how you would wear them in winter and have them show?? You would have to have some sort of flashdance thing going on to show them off? I thought that they were cute, but they confused me? I love bright colors so I loved all of the new colors:)

  19. Twiga: Didn't you say you actually have the new catalog?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love the skirt on the other blog! It is super cute!

    ReplyDelete
  21. FFM- yes I have the new catalog. I was sharing that my SA said that they are at the stores but not supposed to be out until weds. So totally worth asking if you are in a store today or tomorrow. Sorry I would scan it if I could...

  22. Thanks Twiga! Btw...can you please tell me what the new coats look like? Anything in a basic color like Camel or Black?

    ReplyDelete
  23. casual crew,

Thanks for the heads up on the button design...I will pass based on your comment as well as the uber bright color. I need ease and out the door in the morning...(or anytime for that matter) he he:)

I like the flower on the tank but not for fall/winter. If I got it now I know I would find something I like better come this spring/summer and will have forgotten I bought it in the dead of winter:)

Hmmm. flower and ruffles sound cute but in theory are not panning out!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Beforehand, if anyone takes the time to scan the catalog I would appreciate it so much! I don't get catalogs overseas and it would be so nice to see it! Thank you ahead of time if anyone makes the time....I know life is so busy and it does take time to do a catalog or even a few pages!

    ReplyDelete
  25. People, please calm the heck down. SAs are not allowed to give out the catalogs before they are supposed to be put out or they will get in trouble. Seriously, this is a catalog, not a matter of life and death, stop acting like salivating dogs for your fancy clothes. Don't you have anything better to do? Begin the barrage of angry comments...now.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ug, so I went to the Rock store and they said they did not have the new catalogue yet (lie!). I did however, get that new black tweed skirt with the bow. It is ADORABLE. It was $140. The skirt runs true to size. I have a feeling this will sell out quick.

  27. anon @ 12:29--go away!

  28. Anon @ 12:29--i find it funny that this person finds Jcrew to have "fancy clothes" LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. Can someone PLEASE post the damn catalog???!!! I can't wait any longer!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. The new catalog may not be anything close to a matter of life or death, but with so much bad news out there right now, it's a huge pick-me-up!!! I too can't wait for it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I just came back from the Store in NYC--Justin that SA that sum 1 posted about is such a DOUCHE BAG. He is a DICKHEAD. I hope he reads this blog. He gave me all this crap about using the coupon. What a jerk off!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I did a quick blog search to see if I could find the one with the new catalog. I couldn't. Does anyone know the name of the blog that has it? I, too, am dying to see the new catalog and agree with kitchy7 -- times are tough, so it's time for a little pick-me-up! Like FFM, I can't wait to see some new coats too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. anon @ 12:56: I usually try to work with another person if I go to the Rockefeller b&m as I don't find that particular manager very customer-service oriented.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I really hope someone posts the new catalog soon. Im dying to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I saw the "cufflink" cardigan on the other blog. Anyone else think the "cufflink" looks really awkward the way they placed it? Kind of reminds me of a pierced eyebrow.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think we are all just excited. The last two catalogs have just been OK for me...I have only bought one thing out of each of them so am looking for some really great new things.....

    ReplyDelete
  37. Just wondering if anyone has any info about current non sale merch being reduced when the new holiday merch comes out? Looking for the cords to go on sale.
Just a note about them, last year I went through three pairs until I had one that was cut and sewn properly. The zip flys on them were very crooked, it looked awful on. I am hoping that they resolved that issue this year.
    Thanks Jennifer

  38. Okay--it's me the catalog descriptionist (word?? okay then my own word:)
I went to my B&M today and they had the cardigan I was so excited about with two button turn cuffs (the buttons are like the martine cashmere cardigan buttons but smaller and I really like them)they are up the front and on the cuffs. The pink was super bright and I actually love color but I have a hot pink jackie and that will serve the same purpose. I am also not a fan of merino and it just looked and felt cheap to me. It's thin like the merino rosette cardi and almost looked like it will, dare I say, "pill." So sorry, scratch my catalog excitement for the one I HAD TO HAVE:(

Here's another funny thing--you know how I described the darling perfect fit tank with rosettes--they show a girl with it on under a v-neck sweater on the page across from the stack of colors and the rosette is in the middle right at the V in her sweater...I think they yanked them over to the center so they show?? Then when you look at the little illustration below the tanks--they have two line drawings of the tank--without flower and one with flower drawn in the center!! The flower is not in the center and it does not work under a sweater like this or a cardigan. Very odd...I almost wonder if they were made differently after the catalog went to press?? I am familiar with overseas production and things do go wrong or get changed up and catalogs will often be mis-represented (ie Astrid ruffle cuffs). This may be the case here.
It's weird. Again--the shirts are very cute but they are not very practical for now and I am bummed.

They had a black silver tweed sparkle skirt (new?) and a black with gold fleck pencil skirt. Also, has out cream on cream satin rosette ringspun T-shirts and black with satin cream bow or I think cream with cream bow or maybe lt grey with cream bow?? Cute, very retro--they are leaning this direction...kinda some anthro feel going on--more and more anyway IMO.

    FFM-
Coats--they have many this time in basic colors--one with a bow at the neck called Carrie coat (I could swear someone posted about this) DARLING single breasted with tie/bow at neck-comes in ivory, heather acorn (like heather nut but lighter??)and black. $325
Wool cashmere plaza $325 single breasted and basic(sorry if this is repeat) come in camel, ivory, heather charcoal and black.
Harriet coat-wool/cashmere $325 is single breasted with wider collar and robe tie waist-ovory, heather acorn, heather charcoal and blk.
Stadium cloth coats-double breasted (strangely close buttons) comes in ivory, citron, dark poppy and navy and black $350 and then single breasted version called Shipley $350 comes in all but citron (yuk!)with one button tab collar-not my favorite-$350

Double cloth-LADY DAY comes in fun colors as does the MADELINE (VERY CUTE!) single breasted with small collar-colors are sea salt, citron, bright berry, dark poppy, heather majestic purple, chocolate and black these are both $330 and single breasted.

ANON-I also love the maggie jacket and I think that will be the BIG hit on here-IMO. The deep yellow is very pretty (not sure with my skin tone though) and heather bright berry might be fun but look a lot like bright rhubarb in this tiny square they have of color:)

Anon-I also TOTALLY agree the merino tres rosette tank is very pretty-only comes putty, heather graphite and blk and is more sweater material so $68

Also-FFM and others--brights are here BIG time! I think Jenna loves them--her favorite color is orange! I like color so I don't mind BUT i will say there is still plenty of subdued items as well.
I laught because some sour lemon and citron is back:( That take JUST the right skintone IMO--like olive skin, tan, or african american.

Let me add--they are becoming very strict about shipping fees for sale--even from the red phone:( SUCKS!

GUYS-couple nice sport coats in cord and herringbone, cool leather jacket $725-collectors item. Shirts, sweaters basics--sorry mostly more of the same:(

  42. covert5 - Thanks for more info!!! The new skirts sound really cute.

Maybe the mystery coat I posted about is the Carrie. It's definitely $325. I was also told it comes in yellow and I was thinking...the yellows are here through the winter! We'll see.

Yay for mail service resuming today. Maybe someone will get a catalog & scan!
