J.Crew Email: Fall Outerwear On Sale
J.Crew sent an email yesterday announcing that many outerwear for women have been reduced up to 30% off in price. Depending on where you are in the country (e.g. the Northeast where it snowed already in some areas!), now may be a good time to consider looking at a new winter coat. ;)

Good Morning Alexis! So glad you are back posting again! :) I also received this email, and the coat I want IS part of this promotion. However, I will continue to wait for the price to get even lower, since our *really* cold days probably won't arrive for another couple of months. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope this 30% off lasts (or gets deeper)! I don't think I'll be purchasing outerwear until after the holidays.
ReplyDeletethe coats i'm interested doesn't quite workout to 30% unfortunately, i.e. the madeline.
ReplyDeleteI was wanting the tulip coat, and don't see it on sale. CA not very cold yet, so will wait for more serious markdowns.
ReplyDeleteHas anybody purchased the Stadium-cloth Shipley coat? I am really interested in purchasing this and am wondering about the fit. I wish it came in petite! It seems perfect for the Boston winter months. It's cold already..
ReplyDeleteFFM - One reason to be very jealous of you Floridians, you do not need coats until they are way marked down. Soooo convenient. We are just finally needing coats up north this week and I really want the houdstooth Gretta. Just can not seem to take the plunge. Something keeps holding me back.
ReplyDeleteAny opinions on this coat???
Wow 30% coats is a great promotion. I bought my university coat last September. I think it was actually from the previous season, but no worries as there are only slight changes.
ReplyDeleteI got mine with thinsulate and love the coat. The fabric is a little ichy, so I wear a scarf with it.
jen_brak: I so, so, so wanted the Greta houndstooth coat but it did not fit well for me. I am 5'-4" and somewhat broad shouldered.
ReplyDeleteI think the coat runs large. I ordered a six and had plenty room in it, maybe too much. The sleeves were really long. And I though the body looked too long on me. Making it fit me would have required too many alterations.
And Caliglam: The tulip coat was just added to the sale this morning. Its now also marked down 30%.
Fabric is beautiful. The color is more subdued than it appears on the website. Any the shank buttons are lightweight so they don't pull or sag. I also think the coat would be fairly warm, especially if it was layered with a heavy sweater.

Well, there's one coat that's discounted for men . . .
ReplyDeleteI ordered the Lille coat (99135) yesterday, so we'll see. Their outerwear is all so cute!
ReplyDeleteI ORDERED the lady day coat with thinsulate yesterday, boy did i have a tough time deciding on the color, i wanted something other than black (becuase i keep buying nothing but black coats) and after cancelling my initial order, i still ended up ordering the royal violet (which hopefully is a nice purple)...and even as i'm typing this, i'm stil not 100% sure, can someone offers some assurance? thanks.
ReplyDeleteirene
So happy you are back! I love your blog and was disappointed to hear you were going to take a break. Thanks for the heads up. I haven't received an email yet, and heard about this promotion in a comment yesterday from your awesome, informative blog. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteHi Irene- I have the lady day w/thinsulate from a couple years ago and it's a great classic coat. I happened to wear it yesterday when the weather surprisingly plummeted to 35°; I had a turtleneck wool sweater underneath and I was relatively warm. Can't comment on the violet color because I've never seen it; I know that I've been looking for a coat not in black (or dark gray) and my eye has drifted to the coats from J Crew in heather majestic purple...
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your coat! (You can always return it)
anon @ 907am: I bought the Madeline yesterday, my store was having a promotion of 30% off all wool outerwear. Even though the Madeline says online / catalog only, there were a bunch of colors and sizes in my store! I got it for around $200. I was debating calling in and getting the thinsulate version but didn't want to bother with the hassle.
ReplyDeleteI have the Shipley coming to me (I'd ordered that a couple of days ago before trying on the Madeline) and chose it because the sales associate said the stadium cloth would be REALLY warm. I'll only keep one so I'll have to see how the Shipley fits / feels when it arrives.
I wish more coats were available in stores, as I have been ordering and returning coats for the past few weeks now. :)
Glad you are back, Alexis!
Got a question: The descriptions mention the 'exclusive' mill for the Lady Day and it's wool with nylon, while the other two are wool with polyamide. I'm now considering the Madeleine but don't know how the fabric feels in comparision with the Lady Day. I thought I'd ask-- all of the double cloth coats (Lady Day, Madeleine, Marie) should 'feel' the same, right?
ReplyDeleteHI AUDREY,
ReplyDeletetks for the nod for the coat, actually i was debating between royal violet vs. the heather majestic purple but ended up going for the royal violet cuz it was more purply than blue in comparison to the heather majestic purple...while the item is returnable but becuaes i'm in canada, shipping the coat back will cost me an arm and a leg...so ideally i'd like to not have to go that route...fingers crossed!!
irene
Well, that I can confirm- I own a sweater in the royal majestic purple and it's really more blue than purple, to me. I think if you're going with a purple shade, the royal purple is less ambiguous! Hope the color works out for you...
ReplyDeleteCan someone do me a BIG favor and check a few items on the JC site? I don't have access at work and want to know if the items are still available/on sale. TIA!
ReplyDelete1) Wool-cashmere Carrie coat (black) - on sale? What size recommended? I tried the Madeline in a 6 and it fit but an 8 might be better for layering.
2) Sketchbook roses skirt - on sale? size 8 available?
3) Juliet mid heels (black) - on sale? size 10 available?
Yeah, the majestic purple is actually quite like royal blue if you ask me - perhaps even Prussian blue?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know anything about the fit/size/quality of the Wool-Cashmere Carrie Coat? It's absolutely classy and a huge discount to boot too.
Is the plaza coat with thinsulate warm? Also, if I'm a 0 in regular, would the 2P be a good size? (meaning, could I wear a thick sweater underneath it?)
ReplyDeleteI also posted this question in another thread yesterday, but it got buried under the Obama discussion, so I'll try again: Regarding items returned by mail, are they updated as "return" on your account history? I mailed something in a couple of weeks ago, but its status hasn't updated to "returned" (It was a fs item, but I explained to the customer service that I'd meant to order the item in a different color and they said they'd issue me "credit"). I'm not sure if they meant store credit. Anyway, how long does it take for the facility to sort through and register a return? And if they issue store credit, does that appear in your online account? Or is it mailed as a gift card?
Audrey: I bought the Madeline yesterday and to me it feels just like the Felicia. I don't know how that is in comparison to the Lady Day - I thought they were the same but perhaps they are not? Sorry if that didn't help at all ...
ReplyDeleteAmanda: The Carrie is really soft and doesn't really have a defined waist. It sort of falls straight down / slight bell-ing at the bottom and the wrists, but not as dramatic as the Tulip jacket. I really liked it as well! I wore my usual size in all of these coats. I would have picked it but I want to get a good, basic winter coat first.
Anon at 914am: The Plaza coat is one of the coats I returned, I felt it was very bulky, with or without the thinsulate. I think it was TTS and added a lot of bulk .. I felt like I was carrying around a lot of extra weight when wearing it. But it was also very warm and soft. I would have kept it, if it wasn't also very long and slightly too flare-y on the bottom half.
FMM, just out of curiosity... which coat are you waiting for? :)
ReplyDeleteI ordered the Harriet. Has anyone tried it on? Is it TTS? I ordered the heather charcoal....it should be very versatile. I hope that it is worth the $225. I usually don't buy outerwear until after Christmas (and on sale). I just LOVE the Harriet! Does anyone have any thoughts on the Harriet? Or does anyone own it yet? My won't arrive until tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteIrene, after having many neutral coats, I think that you should LOVE the majestic purple. It is more blue, than purple, but it is such a great color. Don't regret getting color. JCrew does great color and you should enjoy yours for years to come....
JenG.
I meant royal violet.... Royal violet=blue (beautiful bright blue). Sorry. Mind was wandering to beautiful coats...
ReplyDeleteJenG.
Oops, again. In the catalog, the royal violet now looks more purple. Is that new? During the last year, royal violet was always blue, but upon looking through the catalog, it sure looks purple now... Just disregard everything I said about that shade. Just remember one thing, JCrew does color great. You should be very happy with your coat, Irene!
ReplyDeleteJenG.
I have a few of the 10% off coupons from giving by email address in the B&M. Does anyone if these can stacked on top of the 30% (or 40%) final sale discount?
ReplyDeleteI still think JCrew's coats are overpriced at around $300.
ReplyDeleteHi marta b.-
ReplyDelete1) The Wool-cashmere Carrie coat is on sale for $225 and they have both a 6 and 8 available in black.
2) Sketchbook roses Belle skirt is on sale for $99.99 and they do have a size 8 available.
3) The Juliet mid heels are not on sale, still at $198, but they do have a size 10 in the black.
I hope this helps!
Question to those in-the-know on the coats -- I haven't had a chance to try on the Madeline yet in the store but I am wondering if it's a tight fit around the bust and whether it made sense to size-up if you are large busted.
ReplyDeleteJenG, I have the Harriet and looooove it! It's exactly what I have been looking for after trying the Dana and the Carrie. It's soft, simple, classic, and not overwhelming at all. I got it on promotion and with the student discount it was quite reasonable.
ReplyDeletecaliglam: Not sure if anyone else experienced this, but i tried both the purple and black Tulip coats and i found the fit to be different. I found purple to be smaller across the shoulders than the black (if i'm remember correctly -- it was a long time agao). I could get away with a 2 in the black but needed a 4 in the purple though the latter was then a bit wide in waist....
ReplyDeleteI've got my eye on the Greta houndstooth (not on sale :( ) and am still uncertain as to size.
Anon @ 9:52: did you find the Greta warm?
anon at 12:14 -- a returned item (whether returned in store or by mail) will show up on your order history as a -1 when it processes. It can sometimes take a few days, but two weeks sounds pretty long. Do you have your tracking number? You could use that to make sure your package arrived, and then call to find out what the delay is.
ReplyDeleteI am very curious how the Lille coat (99135) works... the tie is only in the front - does not go around the back. Looks like an a-line shape. Has anyone tried it on?
ReplyDeleteHi Mack! I am waiting for the Madeline Coat in basic Black to come down lower in price. I tried it on in my B&M and absolutely loved it! :)
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:14 - I have the plaza and sized up from a regular to a petite and it worked well for me. I needed something with extra room for bulky sweaters. I also have thinsulate on mine and glad I purchased it.
ReplyDeleteWith returns....I did a return and it showed up after about 2 days. Then I did another return and it didn't show up for 4 weeks....I don't really know if there is a consistent return time. Sorry.
svid
Thanks FFM! That is a beautiful coat. I love your taste so I was just curious what the fashionista woud pick :) - and I have three boys (I see you have four) so I figure we must be kindred souls somehow :)
ReplyDeleteQuick question: I bought a black velvet Bella jacket last winter for sale at the end of the season. It went in my closet, and I'm just pulling it out. It got all wrinkled, but I am not sure if the collar is supposed to be up or not? And can I iron it? I don't know how to get the collar to fold down or stand up appropriately...
ReplyDeletei am waiting for the carrie coat... does anyone think that there will be a private sale soon? don't they usually have it before the new stuff rolls out... so my thinking is that if the new stuff comes out the middle of november. sometime after the first week, before the second week, there should be a private sale? i wonder if this 30% off outerwear will last that long?
ReplyDeleteI, too, was surprised that the Madeline coat I want was not marked down a full 30 percent. I wonder why? I also want (and I might be the only person who likes it) the floral Renee coat. Does anyone think that Madeline will come down more in price any time soon? And Alexis, so glad that you are here and talking about my obession, coats! Stewart
ReplyDeleteTo everyone inquiring about the Madeline and Tulip coats - I went to the store yesterday after getting the 30% off email and both were elegible for the sale.
ReplyDeleteI ended up getting the Madeline in Bright Berry. It's such a pretty color, especially when the weather will be really cold and the days short (not to be gloomy). I had to order it over the phone because I got a petite. My manager recommended that I order it with Thinsulate, which I agreed because the material in this particular coat is sturdy but not super-thick. When the wind starts to blow on the really cold days, I'll be thankful for Thinsulate.
I just want to say that, with the 30% discount and after using my $50 in rewards, the coat went from $318 to $146! You can't beat that for a beautiful well-tailored coat with pretty details.
Oh, and forgot to say about the fit: someone asked if the petite + Thinsulate will mean you have to go down a size? When I tried on the regular 0, it fit perfectly over a cashmere sweater. Not sure how it would have been with a bulkier sweater. I was worried about staying with my size too in the petite/Thinsulate combo, but my manager told me to stay with my normal size. I can let you know once I get it (hopefully tomorrow!).
Thanks Silver Lining! There seem to be only a few things that I want bad enough to pay 'top dollar'for. I am getting this as a treat for my 40th bday! I hope that I love it as much as you love yours! (I think I will...)
ReplyDeleteJenG.
Got the puffer jacket, i love it! It is actually making me look forward to winter. I think the purple is really pretty and a nice update.
ReplyDeletepg
I went for the Madeline coat in bright berry and a tall for $258. I didn't add Thinsulate as it does not get especially cold where I live.
ReplyDeletecleo26: Yes, the houndstooth cloth Greta is pretty heavy. I would have worn in Jan/Feb if I was out running errands, but probably not if I needed to spend a lot of time outside or if it was day with a wind chill.
ReplyDeleteI tried on the black tulip coat last night in a 6 and had enough room in the shoulders to fit a heavy sweater or even a suit coat. That surprised me. I order the coat today in black in P8 because I need shorter sleeves. Hopefully I won't lose too much in the shoulder.
Irene: I have never really worn purple until this year. I am crazy about Royal Violet. Its a purple with blue undertones. Looks great with honey glaze, slate/fog grey, black, and green (like the donegal evergreen and sparkle tweed skirt greens).
Broke down and ordered the Carrie in Ivory this morning. I was worried about the light color and staining from dirt, ect. but since I am in Texas and it doesn't get super cold I don't think I will wear the coat that often. I was going to wait to see if there was a private sale code in the next week or so but I wasn't sure if the coat would still be 30% off and I also wanted to take advantage of free shipping. I am crossing my fingers that it fits!
ReplyDeleteI do love the lady day so I might pick that up after the holidays if it is still available in my size.
I usually wear a size 4. The lady day coat I have in a 4 fits, but is a bit snug for winter clothes. I would consier sizing up in that if you might be wearing it with bulkier clothes. That said, I sized up in the Plaza and it was then WAY too big. It runs TTS and is very bulky compared to the lady day coat. The madeline seemed to run TTS and I probably would not order up in it.

ReplyDeleteI bought the double cloth Tulip coat!
ReplyDeleteIt's nicely fitted and gorgeous in person (I tried on a black one in one of the local stores).
I love those sleeves, they are so feminine and cute...
La Petite Crew: I'm considering the Madeline with Thinsulate too and am wondering how you got such a great deal! I was doing the math and I have no idea how it worked out to $146 for you; would you mind explaining again? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAccording to my calculations: $318 at 30% off (in store, I'm guessing? - it's $268 online) = $222.60
And with your $50 rewards card, it should be $222.60 - $50 = $172.60
Thanks again!
Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteCan someone who has the Felicia or Lille coat describe the heavy wool pique material? It doesn't look very thick or soft but it is described as warm. Is it a really heavy coat? Is the fabric on the rougher side? When I think of pique, I think of polo shirt pique texture. Thanks for your help!!
Esther, teacher/student discount would bring it to 146, just a guess.............
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 7:06pm: I thought we couldn't stack promotions (ie., the teacher/student discount with the 30% off outerwear); unless this only applies to "codes" since the "30% off outerwear" doesn't require a code? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI ended up purchasing the Lady Day coat in Dark Poppy. I received it today and it is quite gorgeous! The red is a bit more intense IRL than the catalog shot but I cannot wait to wear it out and about. I sized up from a 6 to an 8 to allow for winter clothing. With a bulky sweater on the 8 is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI tried on the Madeleine at a B&M last weekend and think it is gorgeous. Perhaps if any are left after the holidays...
elena m: I don't have the Felicia coat but I've check it out many times at the store - it's not very thick and if you layer a sweater under it might keep you warm if you're in a warmer climate. Otherwise, you might want to reconsider another coat. The cut is very nice though, the front makes you look slim and the back gives ample space for your butt. I think when they say pique, it just means how the cloth is woven, in a sort of crossweave way. Hope that helped!
ReplyDeleteQuick question: How would one rate the different fabrics according to "warmth"?
ReplyDeleteWool-cashmere > stadium cloth w/ thinsulate > double-cloth w/ thinsulate?
(I'm in Canada so the warmth factor is probably one of the most important when deciding on a winter coat. By the same token, however, I also don't really get a chance to try the different coats on myself so any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!)
anon @ 4:09: I like the Renee coat. I'm not too sure of the color though because the site shows a more saturated color without the model than with. Also, not having seen it in person, I don't know if it's worth is current price.
ReplyDeleteAnyone seen it in IRL? TTS, warm?
anon @ 5:32: Thanks for the information about the Greta. It's so cute.
I found the Tulip coat in black fitted/ more tailored but TTS; i found the purple ran a little smaller.
I got the carrie in heather acorn. Didn't even know why I got the extra 30% off, as well as 15% teacher's discount!! : ) $207 instead of $325!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAmanda - thanks so much for the wool pique description! It definitely helps with my coat dilemma since I don't live near a B&M. I will probably wait it out and see if the price comes down or if there is another % off promotion (I know the black Lille is on sale but I kind of have been wanting some color :) ). Have a great night and happy coat shopping everyone!
ReplyDeleteesther - that's a really good question. I have no idea how they came up with that calculation. But I just checked my order confirmation and it came in at $146.98 with tax, after the $50 rewards cards. According to that math (if my mind isn't completely gone), that means the original price before the 30% must have been $268. Because 30% off would make it 187.60, then add 5% tax and subtract $50...any math teachers here? I do remember that my manager gave them one of her codes, so maybe the in-store promotion was more than that and CS was just honoring it.
ReplyDeleteWhat was scary was that my manager went back to her office and brought back a list with everyone's names, addresses, and rewards codes on it plus how much they were receiving. She didn't even need to look me up. She already knew by my first name how much I was getting. Talk about Big Brother... at least it was for a good cause.
Wait, esther - duh! I just looked online and the Madeline coat is on sale for $248 (regular) and $268 (Thinsulate). Now that makes sense since I ordered Thinsulate. So I guess they're taking 30% off the sale price. Holy cow! That's an amazing price! If you have any rewards cards (and haven't used them yet!) this would be a great time to invest in a pretty coat.
ReplyDeleteelena m. - it's exactly like Amanda said. I don't have the Felicia either, but it's the same material as the Andrea jacket which I have. I also tried on the wool pique Lille in the store yesterday. It's not threadbare-thin. You can definitely get away with wearing it as a main winter coat if you live in a more temperate climate (probably not north of North Carolina/southern Virginia) or as a fall/spring coat further north. Or, if you plan to wear heavier wool sweaters underneath, maybe it could be a wool coat in the mid-Atlantic. It's a surprisingly warm material and it's not too thin, though it might be a little thin for our Canadian friends:)
But to tell the truth, most of the wool coats I tried on would need Thinsulate to survive in Canada.
I was even disappointed to find that the wool-cashmere coats weren't as thick like last year's. Maybe Thinsulate is the key this year.
Also, I absolutely adored the Tulip coat and wanted to buy it so badly! It looked incredible on everyone who tried it on. Gorgeous shape. I debated for a long time but in the end only bought the Madeline because of the color. The blue seems to be gone in regular and petites, and I already have an ivory coat (which looks like it's also going fast), and since I didn't want a dark color, red was the only other option. Which is beautiful, but I personally looked better in the pink, so I got the Madeline.
Hope that's helpful!
La Petite Crew: Wow! They did 30% off the sale price? Which store was this at? Then again, with the new rules, they probably won't price-match for me if I call from my Canadian home, hmm? I'm so glad you got such an amazing deal though! =)
ReplyDeleteI just ordered my Carrie coat and was charged $194.09, I can't for the life of me figure that out - I have a student discount, but still... shipping was $15.50 and then we have a 9% tax, I even tried using an EXcel spreadsheet to tweak things around, but I can't seem to work out the sum!
ReplyDeleteI love that little tie thing on the Carrie coat, so cute.
Are the wool/cashmere coats quite warm? Is the heather acorn colour similar to camel or quite different?
ReplyDeleteI am considering the Harriet coat in heather acorn, but it depends on the warmth and shade of colour.
esther - it was Pentagon City, Arlington. Maybe if you don't need a petite size and you call random stores, they will just send it to you from a store? Or maybe through a "we will find it"? I really hope you can get this deal. It's too amazing to miss!
ReplyDeleteAnyone own the stadium shipley coat? I like it but too bad it's only available online, not sure how it'll fit. I am debating whether to order one now or wait till more coats come out (holiday).
ReplyDeleteit sounds like they're taking an extra 30% off the coats that were marked down 30%. otherwise i don't see how your carrie coat was that much!
ReplyDeletejenn_brak: I personally love the Greta Coat, and have from the first time I saw it. I think it would have also been fabulous done in traditional black and white houndstooth, as well. Are you able to try it on in a B&M? It doesn't appear to be catalog/online only, and I think that would be the best way for you to make your decision, so that you can see how if fits on you. The sizes seem to be dwindling in their availability...do you know how many are left in your size now? You could always order it to try it on, and then return it IF you don't absolutely ADORE it...then you will know for sure, and won't have any regrets about getting it or not getting it. :)
ReplyDeleteelena m: I purchased the Felicia as my everyday winter coat. I've only worn it a couple of times so far this season as it just got cold, but I was very warm with the weather in the lower 40's. My coat fits on the smaller side, so I can only fit a light sweater underneath ... when it gets super-cold here, I stick with my double-layer North Face coat!
ReplyDeleteQuestion regarding coats and Thinsulate:
ReplyDeleteWhy do only some of the coats come with Thinsulate? For example, why doesn't the Tulip coat offer Thinsulate as an option? I just thought that was wierd! I've also heard differing opinions on how effective the Thinsulate is. Just trying to make some decisions and would love some input! Thanks!
FFM: Did you find that the Greta coat fit true to size? I have broad shoulders, it would seem, and am usually in between sizes, especially if i want to wear something heavy underneath.
ReplyDeleteWhere does the coat hit you? Mid thigh? Also, what are your views about the weight? mid-weight?
Heather acorn is darker than camel, I think. But it's definitely not as dark as it looks online. I just saw it in store today, and then ordered a coat in the color!
ReplyDeleteWool-cashmere did not seem very thick at all..
I went to my local B&M and I found the pea coat and they gave me the 30% off with my student discount. The coat came out to around $160! But, I'm having remorse beacause it has not back vent. Anyone I think I should return the coat, but is a vent really a petty reason to return it?
ReplyDeletesilver_lining - What color did you get in the Harriet? I also agree that it's classic. I tried the Carrie on again, but I thought I might tire of the collar so now I'm looking at the Harriet.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the Plum color for the classic pea coat?
ReplyDeleteHi Gigi - I got the Harriet in Heather Acorn, which is very camel-esque to me. Truthfully, I could barely tell the difference in color between the Harriet and the ill-fitting (camel) Dana. The collar on the Dana was too wide, and the Carrie was too high, but the Harriet is just right.
ReplyDeletecleo26: I haven't actually seen the Greta Coat in person...my B&M doesn't get too many of the unique J.Crew pieces, unfortunately. Sorry for the confusion or if my post sounded like I had...I have only seen it online, but have loved the look of it from the first time it showed up on the web. :)
ReplyDeletesilver_lining - I've seen heather acorn. It's a very, very pretty color. I agree that it's in the camel family. Your descriptions of the 3 coats sound like the Harriet may also be the one for me. I may order it today or tomorrow. I'm on the fence because I truly do not need another coat. However, I really want one in an ivory color.
ReplyDeleteI purchased my Tulip coat yesterday...I am so excited!!! It's such a gorgeous coat, and once I found out that it was on sale, I simply couldn't resist. We're going to Europe at the end of Feb. 09, so I can't wait to take it with me.
ReplyDeleteI found that the Tulip coat fit very true to size. I also tried on the Carrie and Madeline coats. The Carrie seemed to run large, and the Madeline fit true to size...pretty much like the Tulip. I love the wool-cashmere fabric, but it isn't super thick.
Thanks to this blog, I got a fabulous deal! Keep up the wonderful work. I had no idea about the student discount. The Tulip was $231 in-store, and I got the 15% student discount on top of that. :)
mack - I saw the Lille coat in person and it's very striking. Looks like the belt tie only appears from the waist which means you have to tie the coat. I have another double breasted coat and since the belt is exposed all the way around, I can tie the tie in the back. So you might be limited in that regard on the Lille. The web describes an a-line shape, so I'd say it is slight. I didn't notice a huge a-line shape when I saw it in person. Hope this helps a bit.
ReplyDeleteHow warm do you find the Lady Day coat (with thinsulate)? I purchased it and love the look, but am not sure it will stand up to cold Boston winters.. Im also considering the Stadium Shipley coat..what do you reccommend?
ReplyDelete
