J.Crew Email: New Arrivals {we know!} ;)

J.Crew sent an email announcing their new arrivals in stores and online. I appreciate the effort, even though most of us already knew that information. {wink!}

  1. I haven't received this one yet...maybe later. :) THANK YOU Alexis, for always keeping us informed ahead of time.

  2. FFM: Thanks for the thanks! :)

It's too bad these emails do not get sent out the "day before" or the "day of" new arrivals. :)

  3. Hi, I got mine right on time within a few hours of the new arrivals being out...I already had looked at them but at least it was on the same day!

I am a cardmember but not that this matters one little bit...

  4. Haven't received this one but got a bracelet one today (a stack of the floral bracelets that many are coveting). The bracelets are beautiful in person--I had to have:)

  5. Off topic, but has anyone purchased (and received) or seen in your b&m the Bejewled Feather Sash Belt (10724)..... I have called Short Hills and Rockaway NJ and they do not have it...... PLease let me know.....

  6. covert5, I normally am not a fan of JCrew jewelry--style nor quality have not been up to par but this one looks really pretty to me too:)

I just wish it was a little thinner for my small wrist:)

    Enjoy yours:)

  8. "New arrivals" email arrived this morning. I already have a catalog at home and I've been to the store
( thanks to this blog :)

    On the other hand:
" JCrew card members get early notifications of their new arrivals". Right.

  9. Hrm, I haven't received this yet. However, I did received en e-mail stating that they've finally found an item that's landed me on the waiting list for a bit over a month now. Cheers J.Crew.

  10. anon10:06-I have to agree the jewelry is subpar for the price. Even this is pricey--the quality is there but then in some ways it is not--if you get a chance to see IRL you will know what I mean. There is very pretty detail and it is beutiful but yet the clasp is really cheap looking and feeling-jut not heavy as you would expect. If it falls apart r anything--it's going back. I got it with discount otherwise-no go.

  11. Does anyone know why there are items/colors available in Final Sale that aren't due to ship for 1-3 months? It just doesn't make sense to me that they'd have something marked way down that is still on backorder....things like tees on sale for $7.99!

    ReplyDelete
  12. heatherc-I asked the same thing! it is VERY random!

    ReplyDelete
  13. heather c and others,

The reason it is on backorder at least from what CS told me about one of mine recently is that the backorder date is not a guranteed date nor will they for sure be getting more stock.....it is just a guestimate that they will get a return and you might get the item...IF someone returns one....

  14. Holy Cow, did you guys know that there are new arrivals? (sarcasm anyone?) I just got an email from JCrew....Platinum cardholders get all the benefits!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I disagree in my case anyway--they give a ship date of 11/29/08 and it is for an item that is long gone in stores, online etc. but is now showing up in FS. I am thinking they made more and they don't feel they should be offering it at full price since by the time one receives it--it is late in season so it should be on sale?? May be different case for your items though too.

Now THESE are things I wish an insider could share so there weren't so many misunderstandings with this company! They ALWAYS keep you guessing at J Crew whether it's what size to order, what coupons to stack or not stack, why orders in FS are like this????????? These are my only complaints. I feel quality is there and price on new items with some type of sale or coupon is on par for product (except jewelry is overpriced). Final Sale can be AMAZING--love a deal/bargain!! THAT is fun shopping when it's 40% off FS:)

  16. Speaking of new arrivals, I see a skirt on some of the models in the Golden Roses pattern that is not being offered in the skirts section. Has it sold out and I just didn't see it...is it store only...is it a sneak peak of new offerings later in the season?

    ReplyDelete
  17. heather c - i once heard they have waitlisted items on final sale because they are items that get shipped to the warehouse from stores getting rid of some of their sale stuff (to clear out for more inventory)

  18. in another post a "friends of Jcrew card" was mentioned. Anyone care to elaborate? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  19. ^Yes-it is for an elite group maybe .5% of the population of avid J Crew buyers and mostly friends of Mickey that offers a discount on all purchases. Don't worry yourself about it:) It is pointless that someone even brought up such a card as all it does is provoke people to think they are missing something:)

  20. I received my email at 9:54 a.m. I used to receive them in the afternoon.

Still no catalog. At least I can look at it on line. I have a catalog in various rooms of my house. Of course I keep a stash right next to the hard drive too!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Maybe the golden roses skirt is a store-only item, like the abstract roses skirt was. I'll have to look for it at my B&M!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I never get my catalogs in the mail early...I think they just recently sent me the October one! I was in a B&M yesterday and picked up one there. I saw many of the new arrivals and had a fun time trying things on.

I fell in love with a coat in heather charcoal type color. But I need a petite size so I will have to call and get the actual measurements to determing which size I should get and I will be waiting for it to get marked down before I buy.

I didn't see it online yet (#99046) but it just looks like the Stadium-cloth Lucinda coat but in a different type of wool (more like the classic peacoat material) for around $275.

Looking forward to when the final sale will finally end!

  23. I just got my "new arrival" email, but still wish that I had the latest catalog to peruse. :) I did place an order last night, but when I went to check on it my password didn't work!!! Yikes!

Did you get my post about the honey boucle skirt?
Did you tell me you got the roses pattern shoes--did they run TTS?
    Couldn't remember who did.
    Thanks!

  25. OMG, i'm so excited, i cannot believe my dk eggplant soho dress in XS actully came! i was on the waitlist awhile ago and it got cancelled, saw this pop up online a couple weeks ago and ordered it, didn't really expect it to ship but i cannot belive it's here in my hands, the fit of the soho dress is beautiful!! asolutely love it, the knit is alittle itchy though, i will need to wear a crew neck tee or something underneath but the fit is so nice, i totally love it and would get it in blk too if and when it goes on sale!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. covert5 - I did get your message, and they let me cancel the skirt from my order. I haven't received the Carmens yet - should be this week.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hrm, am I the only one who has never had an order canceled before? One could only wonder what everyones been ordering.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm glad I can see the new items here on line, but I'm wondering where my catalog is. It seems that I often have it before many other on the blog do. Do many of you have yours already?

I need the old school paper in my hand. A web site is good, but nothing beats the paper flipping in a comfortable chair.

I really am seriously thinking about the wool officer's trouser. I have the Italian flannel pant in charcoal and it's great, but I was wanting something with a heavier weight to it. Has anyone seem it in real life or would they like to comment? Thanks

  29. Hmm...new arrivals have arrived, however there appears to be some kind of repeating mistake with my winning lottery ticket at the drugstore. ;)

Also, still no catalog. This is probably for the best but I am bummed.

    ReplyDelete
  30. jcrew guy, I don't have my catalogue yet and it's killing me! I too need the magazine in my hands as I decide what to buy.

  32. roxy: Thank you for answering my question last night. I think that the black Victoria with the Charcoal colored Cambridge Cable Crewneck sounds gorgeous even if the sweater isn't online (yet?). I love the ideas that I get from this blog. Again, thank you so very much. :)

  33. I got my catalog in the mail today (Mon). I am *not* a JCrew card holder. When I placed my most recent telephone orders last week, both of the reps mentioned putting me into the system permanently. I found that odd because then one of them said he had XXXX card number on file. I'm not writing to incite -- just to say that between those 2 experiences and talking with a b&m SA, it's clear that they are still updating the updated system.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks Laura, I'm totally with you, but on the upside we're saving money till it arrives.

    ReplyDelete
  35. gigiofca: I had a similar experience when I placed a web order last friday, I had to give them my address since their system reject my address that I used to order 2 weeks previous. I thought that was weird.

J Crew Guy: I have not received my catalog either.

    ReplyDelete
  36. to gigiofca: have you checked the status of your order? the last time you said something strange about my account when I placed my order, it turned they placed an order for me under a different person's account.

    ReplyDelete
  37. sorry, i meant "last time they said something strange ..."

    ReplyDelete
  38. my orders placed last friday morning have all been shipped. Two of them were shipped friday evening.

    ReplyDelete
  39. i echo the feedback regarding jcrew's shipping, they are definitely back on track! hallelujah. i have been very pleased with the fact that the last few orders i've placed have all shipped in full and on a fairly timely basis. overall, i feel that things have improved so much, i'm just so grateful that things are the way they are now. while it still annoys me that you only have the 20mins window to make cancellations, but i'm just so excited to see new merchandise and have all my orders ship on time that i'm willing to overlook that.

  40. I also received the email about the new jewelry arrivals. The bracelet that is featured with all the little flowers is super cute but like Anon @ 10:06, the bracelets are too big for my wrists.

I did see a cute necklace that matches the bracelet. It has the tiny flowers.

  41. Has anyone seen or tried on the Isabel silk blouse? I love the way it looks but I can't really see how thin or thick the fabric is. Is it TTS? It reminds me of the kind of shirts secretaries wore in the 50s! Very ladylike!

  42. I am looking for the golden roses skirt as well. I have a feeling it's going to come out later, as the South Coast Plaza store in CA is a high end store and they don't have the black flannel dress with the golden roses on top either.

I saw the flower bracelet in person, and even the skinny version was pretty wide. Plus the crystal inside the flower just looks too fake. There's also a little chain necklace with what looks like porcelain roses all over. That's about the most delicate J Crew jewelry I've seen. Unfortunately it looked like one of those victorian type jewelry so it's a pass for me.

Strange. Just noticed that the exclusive yellow starbust necklace is back on the website...

  43. In-store specials that I saw today in San Francisco:

    1) merino turtleneck (99219) - $69.50

    2) puffer vest (?) - $88 I think this one has been going for awhile

    3) high heel flares - $20 off

    4) city tee (96955) - $24, cute on, fits like a lightweight tailored sweatshirt without any puff. Only navy (or black) and dark slate have caught my eye. The website has pretty colors.

    5) The $88 novelty sweaters are still on promo. And the cable crewneck promo is still going as well. I think that has been $59.50.

  44. casual-crew - Yeah.. on one of the orders the CS claimed to be putting me in the system from scratch yet he showed my credit card & email on file. Then the next order the next day was like starting from scratch as well. I had to give all of my info, incl my credit card #. That rep said she saw a few accounts under my name. I didn't want to press for details.

Anonymous @ 9:21p - My order #1 placed on 10/17, recvd a tracking number on 10/20 and is in the UPS system as of 10/20. So that one's on its way and has all FS items.

Order #2 was placed on 10/17, recvd a tracking number on 10/20 and is *not* in the UPS system as of today. This is one new item only, no FS items.

Sophia - Haven't seen the Isabel blouse in stores. It's catalog/online only, but some stores get some of the items. Maybe someone here will order it and report.

  45. I wouldn't go as far as saying JC is doing a great job with shipping though. They are still one of the slooowest retailers when it comes to processing your order, not to mention the inconsistency. Sometimes your order will the be shipped right away. Next time you'll be waiting for their shipping confirmation 4 days in. Great CS though.

On a side, I've had my first bad taste of poor service from an associate yesterday at the Rocketfeller store in NY. Maybe it was because of the fact that I was a man shopping for something at womenswear, but that person was extremely stuck up. Next time, my sister will be doing her own shopping ty very much.

  46. I haven't got my catalog yet either. I got email about new items one day after Alexis posted it on this blog...I don't know why this time lag happens.

gigiofca: Same thing happened to me before. My oder was waitlisted a while and CS told me that I would not be able to get item and she cancelled my order. A couple of weeks later, I found the same item on final sales. Finally I got it though, it was a pain...

  47. If anyone sees the golden roses skirt in store, please post it - it is soooo pretty!

  48. From the j.crew collection sets: "cascading flowers boucle astrid jacket" (available November 6th). What did you ladies (and gents) think of this? I passed up on the earlier Astrid, but this looks promising. I absolutely do not need more jackets (especially not in this weather), but I might pick it up if it ends up the sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Okay, I have a sad story about the Berry-trim Nathalie tank dress (95984). I have been coveting this dress since I saw it in the summer and when it hit the sale section I ordered it in bright peacock to my hotel I was staying at in the US (I live in Canada). It arrived promptly, I fell in love and carefully packed the dress in my suitcase. When I got home and opened my bag to show my dress it was GONE!! Of course now the dress is sold out in my size. Sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  50. auryane: I have seen the picture of the jacket on the site too, and it looks like a winner for me. While i love the ivory / sea salt color, I hope it comes in other colors too.

I hope my store gets them so i can try one on for sizing.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Aurayne: I called JC regarding the flower cascading Astrid jacket--- it is $425 and only small quantities available. She said that I was her 10th caller that day for the jacket. It is only available in Ivory.

    ReplyDelete
  52. The flower cascading Astrid also comes in black as well as ivory.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anon 9:21: Thank you for the information--- the CSR told me Ivory only! :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. nicole, Yes, it definitely comes in both colors...the lady I spoke with pulled both colors and told me about the jacket. It is pricey! but nice...fun to dream......

she also mentioned some sizing differences on this but did not have any measurements for me to compare...so best to wait and try on...for me at least...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Regarding the Astrids, do they all fit the same? The recent Berry and the Liberty floral? Are they true to size? I have no way to try on the cascading flower one first.

I wonder which color of the cascading one to choose? :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. The special occastion expert I spoke with said she usually sizes down in jackets (which is the opposite for me) and she usually gets a 6. She tried on an 8 and it fit her! She said she couldn't button it however and would have to wear it open. I am totally confused so I am waiting for measurements which she said she she hopes to have next week.....

    ReplyDelete
  57. P.S. Above refers to flower Astrid. I own both the berry Astrid and Ruffle Astrid.....but they are wool and not sweatery knit wool boucle....totally different fabrics...Look at how tight the arms look on the models in the jackets...different fits completely...
