Dear FFM: Help Put Together A J.Crew Outfit For Me

FabulousFloridaMommy (FFM) regularly guest blogs on outfits she creates with items that you, the members, request. :)
FFM has done it yet again! A big "thank you!" to FFM, who has created a fabulous outfit for numerous requests in the "Dear FFM: Help Put Together A J.Crew Outfit For Me" post!

To view the wonderful sets, click on the links below. (The name of the link relates to the request for an outfit.)

Quick Note: In honor of the new arrivals, we are going to change things up a bit. For this week only, we ask members to suggest 4 new arrival items that you would like to see made into an outfit. Tomorrow morning, FFM will select the 4 most popular "new arrival" items suggested and create a few Polyvore outfits for each of those items (which will then be posted for all).

What "new arrival" pieces from J.Crew do you wonder how to use in an outfit and would like to see an outfit created for (please include item name or item number)?

  1. I love the Cashmere Audrey Dress but I'm not quite sure how to wear it for the office?
I'd love to see that in an outfit (for office wear and for a night out)!
Thanks FFM! Your outfits are always fabulous!

  2. Totally want a Tartine cardigan in Maize now. :) The Kelsey tank dress options also strike a chord with me. Amazing job once again FFM!

New items I'd like to see FFM attack: cashmere heirloom henley, Shimmy dress, Pembridge-dot pencil skirt, Aubrey herringbone jacket.

  3. Obviously the Victoria Cami and Shirt should be made into outfits. And I really like the geometric tweed mini!

  4. FFM, please put together the most expensive item possible so that Jenna will find me educated enough to shop in the Collection store and Mickey will send me a free $50 necklace.

  5. THANK YOU, FFM! I echo Roxy w/the tartine and Kelsey- and I have both of those items so YAY! You are great!n

  7. I would love to see ideas for the Maggie jacket in camel (something casual with jeans and/or something more office-like with a skirt or dress pants, Pembridge-dot pencil skirt in gold, Dotted Victoria ruffle cami and the Dream Simone cardigan.

  10. What time are you "closing" the suggestions? JCrew site is blocked at my work, so I can't go on and choose my pieces. I'll be able to after work. I do have the Victoria ruffle cami in dark grey, but I would like to see the cami in Golden Olive used in a set (might be getting).

Btw, I am wearing the Victoria black stripe long sleeve today w/one of the new cardis (I think it's a City Tee one, black w/a chiffon bow near the collar); the blue & black stripe bangle (on sale); and, if you shop in a B&M, one of the long gold chain necklaces w/the double beads in cloudy grey. It's basically a more substantial version of the necklaces they had in store over the spring/summer. Also, my fave thin hammered gold oval hoops, dark Joe's jeans, and black suede booties (Audley from Nordstrom). Oh, and I've been carrying my Jamie bag in Cloudy Grey almost since I got it. This was a MAJOR splurge for me, but it's THE grey bag I had been looking for. So, so lovely.

Hmmm, maybe I should start doing Polyvore sets. What do you all think? Hehe.

  11. I agree with tammylee: the Maggie in camel (or any color for that matter!).

The Victoria blouse or cami in any color would be great also.

Marta: you sound like you look fab today. I'm sitting here in my velour sweats, living vicariously through you. Your outfit is awesome!!

  12. Marta: Your outfit sounds FABULOUS!!! I won't tally the requests until tomorrow morning, so there is still plenty of time. :)

SS: My Maggie is supposed to arrive today, too. The CS specialist who ended up re-ordering for me on Saturday evening had it overnighted. YAY!!! Hopefully it actually DOES come today...I'll let you know for sure.

  13. Thanks, Leslie!

I FEEL fab today, hehe. Just wanted to step it up a notch w/my fab new shirt! My office is actually pretty casual, so it's pretty noticeable around here if one dresses like I am today and there's no client coming in :-P. I do want to make the move to the fashion industry, and you know what they say: dress for the job you want. I'm preparing!

  14. Thanks, FFM!

I'll be sure to get more of my requests in tonight.

  15. FFM - Great look w/the maize tartine. I have it and couldn't decide what to wear with it. I have some leopard heels that will probably go well with it, in the same idea as the trixie heel.

  16. Marta -- be careful with Polyvore! I started making outfits, and it's ridiculously addictive! But super fun. :)

FFM -- thank you for the attorney looks!!!

  17. FFM- Thanks so much!! I already placed an order on of the sweaters and will probably buy some of the stuff I'm missing to complete the wonderful outfits you created.

    Thanks so much!!

  18. Marta...I am thinking of ordering one of the city tee cardigans. How does it fit?

    ReplyDelete
  19. sooner_girl,

The city fit cardigan fits pretty TTS, I guess. I got it in medium. However, I recently bought a Tartine in small, and I just got the Lea in small. I am normally a medium in most things, but I have noticed that I have been getting quite a few smalls at JC recently. Maybe it's just the merinos that are sized a bit larger. Or maybe I'm just wearing things more fitted. Who knows :-).

  20. I'm debating about the aubrey jacket, see here. Am also not sure what color would be better - the charcoal or the "golden cyprus" aka yellow...:) What do you think?

    TIA!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kater: I would choose the Heather Charcoal since you already have a couple other jackets in the *yellow* family. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. These aren't new arrivals, but I second two requests from last week that didn't make it in - the Watercolor Floral Madison Dress, and the Lucia jacket (either python print or Italian matelassé).

    ReplyDelete
  23. sooner girl : The City Tee Card, is short it hits at the high hip other than that it is TTS.

  24. I just thought of something else I could use help with - the summer lime martine! I ordered it a few weeks ago, but haven't been able to wear it yet. Any ideas for it besides a white button down underneath (all that I can come up with) that would take it into fall?

    Thanks again!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I second the cashmere audrey dress.
i was also wondering if boots could look ok with it? i just got the long brewster leather boots in espresso and don't know what quite to wear with them either.
i was hoping for a more cold weather look for the cashmere audrey dress. hopefully you can help me pull it off without wearing open toed high heels like the model in the dress? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  26. oh and its the heather silver audrey dress, not black.

and if the two can't go together could you use both of them in separate sets?

    THANK YOU

    ReplyDelete
  27. FFM,

Thanks a lot for the jamie jacket suggestion!!!! As always, I'm enjoying your sets very much!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. You have such great ideas! I would also love to see suggestions for the Martine sweater (in summer lime or light hibiscus). I purchased both on sale recently, but haven't figured out how to wear them for fall.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would love to see some casual (for school) and dressy (for church) outfits using the francie skirt 10582 in the heather majestic purple. Please keep in mind that I don't wear turtlenecks (not after wearing them for over 30 years in Ohio! :P).

  30. Fabulous as always, FFM! :) Can I see ideas with the Maggie or the cashmere heirloom henley?

And if it's okay to suggest a past item, can I see what to do about the sharkskin skirt? I like it but can't justify buying it until I figure out how it could fit in my wardrobe!

    ReplyDelete
  31. FFM,
In your opinion, what about the Maggie jacket justifies its cost?
I understand that it's wool and fully lined although it's not styled to be a winter coat. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  32. how about the bow necklace cardigan... in pewter

    ReplyDelete
  33. Could I request a Polyvore set showing something dressy to go with the deep yellow Babette peeptoe heels with feathers? I love these and have a cocktail party to attend soon. Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. FFM - I was debating if I should keep the maize tartine and thanks to you, I have decided to keep it. I love your suggestions! Thanks so much!

For the new items, how about the Maggie in either the bright berry or deep yellow.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ilovesequins: I purchased the Maggie because of it's shape, and the basic, neutral color. I have been anxiously awaiting for J.Crew to make a flattering, classic piece in a NOT bright color, and this one fits the bill perfectly. :) The fabric is beautiful...it is called Double-Serge Jacket on the receipt, so I'm assuming it is the same as the Double Serge Pencil Skirt that everyone has been raving about? I know for a fact that this will be one of my *go-to* pieces and will get a lot of use this Fall/Winter. I was also able to use gift cards to pay for part of it, which makes the price more bearable. ;) I think there will more than likely be more of them available, and had I not had the gift cards, I would have waited for a special promotion to purchase it. :) HTH!

  36. Thank you FFM for the suggestions for the Adelaide in honey glaze. I absolutely thought that my leopard print Steve Madden pumps would be the best footwear option! Thank you for confirming my thoughts!!

    U R the best!

  38. thank you ffm for compiling the outfit with blk kelsey and it reassured me that it can be worn with blk tights and blk boots, and as a matter of fact that's what i'm wearing today, while i don't have a white turtlenecki am wearing it over the silk julia blouse in a brown/pewtery color with small blk polka dots (it was from last year) plus my long blk/white pearl necklace. love the kelsey tank dress in blk,it's such a timeless piece.

  39. Hi FFM,

So I had the hardest time choosing which pieces I wanted you to use. I still don't know. The only 2 that I really want right now and are within reach to purchase are the Victoria cami in Golden Olive (have the grey) and Cashmere Heirloom Henley in Navy. I've been wearing a lot of grey, black, purple clothing and gold accesories, so if you could incorporate that, I'd appreciate it. Also, dressy and casual outfits, please. Thanks!

P.S. I may just contact you later if there is a tricky piece I start to lust after and am not sure how to fashion :-P.

  40. Striped Victoria ruffled shirt in Camel
    Herringbone University pant in Camel

I got those two to go together - they haven't arrived yet and I'm not sure if they'll actually coordinate or not

I also ordered (hasn't arrived yet) the Jenna herringbone pant in sour lemon because I'm really fond of yellow - I'm thinking of pairing it with black patent and white, but not sure. Any suggestions welcome!
