Take 40% Off Final Sale (& Free Ship on $100+}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Rosie (in this post), who shared the following promotion.

J.Crew brought back the offer to take 40% off all final sale items (no min) and free shipping (on $100+) with promo code MUSTSHOP. This offer expires Wednesday, January 26, 2011.

It's also worth noting that some brick & mortar (B&M) stores are offering an additional 50% off Final Sale items. :)

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get? Does your local B&M have "final sale" as well?

  1. Of course, just my luck since I place an order yesterday. Do JCAs have had luck getting a price adjustment by calling in these cases or should I not bother? My order was about $200 so we are talking about an adjustment of $80...

  2. Ugh, I got pulled in last time and now have two jackets that are too big for me. Not getting sucked in this time!

    ReplyDelete
  3. i'm want the factory classic-stripe tissue tee but am worried that the small will be too big.

Anyhow, i'll check out the sale again later for hubs & the kiddos since i don't really need anything right now (except a long-sleeve striped tee!).

  4. I'm in need of some denim (for real) so I ordered J.Crew downtown skinny jeans in pearly blue wash, in two sizes, since they didn't come up as FS. Fingers crossed one of the two sizes will fit.

Also, snagged some button downs for hubs & some more stuff for my kiddo (who has the best assortment of t's, button downs & sweaters due to all these sales on Crewcuts!).

  5. I just wanted to say for anyone thinking of biting on the Miller High Heel boots, I feel like they run pretty true to size. I got my almost-everywhere-shoe-size 7.5 and I can wear them with tights (as I am now!) or thin socks and my toes feel like they have room to bend/wiggle comfortably (my foot is maybe a little wide-ish at the toe-box, ~3.5"). I tried to wear with the tights AND thick socks layered this morning though, and couldn't get my foot in, maybe because of fuzz-friction mostly. I feel like they may end up stretching out a little and then thicker socks on their own will be manageable, but maybe size up a half if you're going thick.

  6. Can anyone comment on the fit of the Aveline dress? Considering it but afraid to bite if can't return. Thanks!

  7. This is a super longshot, but has anyone seen the Washed Leather Moto Jacket in their store? I would love to find a 10 or a 12 for my birthday which is tomorrow. :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Roxy, happy birthday. I haven't seen the moto jacket at the Collection store but they had a leather "suckered" or shrunken shirt (not sure if this makes sense, you have to see it). Maybe it could be a replacement?

So I was very good during the last 40% off promo but I couldn't resist the black cashmere crewneck, navy cashmere turtleneck and grey Chalet boots in my size (I wear my brown Chalet every day and I could give them a break). These are actually classic items so I don't feel too guilty about my order. BTW, the black cashmere crewneck wasn't FS.

  9. roxy, they have had it in several sizes at the clearance store in Arden, NC. I know they had an 8 but not sure about other sizes.

Also, as of 1 am last night you could combine this promo with the wedding dress sale. What a ridiculous deal!

  10. Ema, how can you tell it is final sale? Isn't everything in the sale section final now?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Funny, at a glance I thought the code was MUSTSTOP....

    ReplyDelete
  12. Pretty sad sale selection in my humble opinion. I ordered a suit during the last 40% off sale but JC canceled the jacket, so now I'm left with the pants and skirt. So of course I'll be stalking this additional sale for the jacket! Crossing my fingers for a big restock over the weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Thanks for the review of the Miller High motorcycle boots- I just hopped on to see if anyone knew how these fits :->

    ReplyDelete
  14. newyork0311, it's always worth a try!

I reordered a cardi with the 40% and picked up the factory fair isle cardigan to make it to $100. Can anyone tell me whether it runs TTS?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Em, does the clearance center do charge/sends?

Thank you also Ema. :) I will head up to the collection store this weekend to check it out.

  16. Can't place the order fast enough as things kept disappearing from my cart...Oh well, I consider this a blessing as I had like 8 items...I got so frustrated I ended up closing the window and placing no order at all! So proud of myself...after all just like somebody pointed out...the code is MUSTSTOP! Sure I must stop!

Another sign that Final Sales makes customers like me more wary...I would have ordered faster if there had not been FS, and I know once I get the items, I would have kept most of them!!!!

Mommydearest: Thanks, will try and see if they will make the price adjustment!

    ReplyDelete
  17. roxy, I actually do not know the answer to that. But most of the ppl that work there are very nice and love to work with customers so I'm sure a call wouldn't hurt.

  18. I am not shopping final sale. No matter how great the deals I have already bought everything J.Crew that was on my "must have" list.

I got home really late last night and read everyone's comments that they did not see the new arrivals online. I checked the site again and they were gone. I definitely saw the new arrivals splash page and new items but I had to scroll through really quick as I had a very busy day scheduled. Should have opened the product pages and left them up on my screen when I went to work. I can't explain it, maybe someone was "testing in production" and I stumbled across the page but there were definitely new arrivals. As I type this I am thinking that no one is going to believe me but darn it, I know what I saw!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Grrr. I find it annoying that the Factory Store opening page has a picture of the bateau top that I want so much and that they AREN'T SELLING as the main illustration.

    Must they keep taunting me?

Do any JCAs have the vintage bateau in a S that they'd want to get rid of ? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Not a great update. I'm trying to snag some specific accessories, so I'll bite if there's a good update and my items show up this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am at the point where I am not even looking at the sale site to avoid temptation but I am here reading all of the comments!
This is what happens to me now with new arrivals: I read the comment thread first and then go have a look, good fun I tell ya, it's like window shopping with my JCA friends.
    Happy Birthday ROXY!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. xoxo, what I find hard to believe is that JC tests its web site!

    ReplyDelete
  23. HEY there! Just wanted to give you a heads up that I just placed an order for UNDER a hundred dollars, used the code and STILL got the free shipping! I love it when that happens! Happy weekend.

  24. I'm considering buying the Trouper pants because I have so few pair of pants that fit ... but since I've never tried them on, I'm frotting about the possibility of getting stuck with them. Decisions, decisions. ...

    ReplyDelete
  25. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Elaine, please don't 'frot' over your decision. Lol-joking!!

I ordered the Trouper pants in my regular size 6 & a size 8. The 6 fit perfect but the material is so thin & the pants are cut to fit very close to the body (w/o 'feeling' tight) I disliked them. The 8's fit too but slightly baggy so if I were to order I'd get my regular size. If you have bigger legs, esp. calves, you may want to size up since they're cut very narrow at the bottom - but then again since I haven't worn them I'm not sure if they'll bag out after wear.

I don't care for them because I don't like the combination of 'really thin material/tight to the body fit/look'. I don't like the leggy denim either because I just don't care for the look on me. Give me a pair of matchstick cords or jeans and I'm good to go.

Sorry, not sure if it's helpful. Plus I think others have really liked them.

The MUSTSHOP code does not work for me on orders totalling less than $100.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thanks IRL! :) I'm just too unsure about how they'll fit at this point. These days I'm liking my toothpick jeans and cords best, with regular (not vintage) matchsticks running a close 2nd. I just don't have enough pants that fit, and I don't want to get stuck with something whose fit sounds questionable. I'm largest in the hip area (eeek) with smallish calves and a smallish waist, so finding pants that fit right is sort of tough. I'm between an 8 and a 10 at the moment, with most of the dresses I wear being an 8 but most of the pants being a 10 or 31.

    Arrgghhh.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Surprised by what popped back in sizes this morning. I purchased the Long Meribel puffer in Navy; I have it in drk. Charcoal and wear it everyday. Also the short Miller motorcycle boots in black. Both items were in stock in full sizes this AM. The CS rep confirmed that the boots ran TTS, he bought them for his sister and they fit her perfectly, so that was pretty good reassurance for me to purchase a final sale boot for $118. Yippee!

    ReplyDelete
  29. FWIW Elaine, I really like my Troupers and feel they run TTS. But my only complaint is that they're a little thin as another person pointed out. I guess they'll be great to wear into spring and even summer. Not sure why they put them as a fall item. And they do run narrow through the calves, but I like that for tucking into boots. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Since the 40% code is valid through Wed, I assume that means new arrivals on Thursday? I re-ordered the khaki minnies in a petite. The regular 4 I have in coal is too big, but I'm sure the 2 will be way too tight, so hoping the petite will work.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I just ordered the hammered silk skirt, panne velvet skirt, wool bell skirt, and the hammered silk flambe dress. Does anyone know anything about the fit on that dress? I ordered a 2 and am worried it won't fit (I got between 0 and 2 depending on the item).

  33. I ordered the dream zip sweater jacket in gray. After it sold out during the last 40% off sale I had been kicking myself for not picking one. Hope it doesn't pill too much!

    ReplyDelete
  34. FYI for anyone liking the Braidee heels. They are currently $175 on sale and you can use the current 40%. I bought them last week for around $115. I will receive them Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yowza, I am usually up around 4 am central (with baby) and can usually catch a restock right when it happens. Sometimes restocks can be a little earlier or later, but that's been the best time for me to check lately.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I had to buy the Exhibitor Tote since I've been looking for a big black bag, and at $180 instead of $375 FP, how could I resist? I hope it works out. It's not FS, so I can always return. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. WellFedFred, good point.

Elaine, I love my Trouper pants and actually prefer them over my J Brand Houlihans even. They are thin but don't seem to be wearing out at the stress points like where the cargo pockets are attached. They fit me really well but unlike you I am not blessed with curves, I'm stick straight.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Going to pass on this one. I see a few things I like but nothing I have to have. Still waiting on the last order from last week.

    ReplyDelete
  39. So far nothing I need but I'm a little tempted by some of the shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have some things in my cart, but I'm not sure I"m going to pull the trigger. I'm going to wait and see if there's an update. If I lose out on a few items, so be it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Is anybody else having major trouble with cancelations during these 40% sales?
I've lost three items so far to that stupid email message and I'm starting to get upset!
What is going on in that warehouse????

    ReplyDelete
  42. Can anyone comment on the sizing for the lodge puffer vest?
And everything in my cart disappeared before I had a chance to purchase. Maybe will try again tomorrow.
    Thanks.

  43. Has anyone seen reviews for the starry night cardigan? Suspect x small will be too small for me but am tempted anyway.

  44. Stopped by the Philly (Chestnut St.) B&M today; it wasn't quite as picked-over as I had expected. The big (and welcome) surprise for me was that there were a *bunch* of strata camis-- $30 after the -50% discount! I scored one in a deep olive shade (in-store only I think. never saw it online). They also had a few in mint green.
    Happy weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  45. sorry-- strata cardis, not strata camis!

  46. Too hilarious. This week I had got a really good wear of my infinity cardi that I got for Christmas and was kicking myself that I didn't get more then one. I may have bought 3 more now ;) but for 26.99 each, who's arguing!?

  47. I was surprised to see another 40% off promo so soon. They must really need to move inventory and finally realized this is about the only way to make that happen.

OT: I really wish they would allow you to combine J.Crew and Madewell orders to make the ship and/or promo minimums. There are a couple of items I want from each site, but don't want to pay the $100 minimum on each one to get the free shipping and promo.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Forgot to add that I wish the promos on both sites were for the full-price and new arrival items instead of sale and final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  49. OK, clearance center is unable to do charge/sends. So still hoping someone out there has seen a Washed Leather Trench in a 10 or 12!!

DaniBP and Alexis, thank you!! And Alexis happy belated to you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. OT: Is anyone missing the chalet turtleneck sweater from their order (smoky charcoal, size xs). J. Crew messed up and sent me that item instead of the cashmere tie v-neck sweater I was looking forward all week to receiving :(

    ReplyDelete
  51. Wow, I've been away from computer all day and just knew about this promo. I'm not even checking the sale section since I want new items and not the same old stuff.

Just received the first batch of my last 40% off promo and both boxes are so beat up the tapes have both opened up on each sides. When I brought it into the house I could see all my contents from one box and I'm afraid to find missing items. The other box containing two pairs of shoes and other stuff isn't as bad but the top tape has completely come undone. Who's to blame? The JC ware house for not taping properly or UPS for handling so roughly?
Should I call CS first before opening it?

    ReplyDelete
  52. jcrewphd: I'd take pics of the boxes first, then open them to see if the contents are okay. If everything is there and in good condition, I wouldn't worry about it. If something is missing or damaged, you'll be able to provide evidence of what the boxes looked like upon arrival. Hope everything turns out okay!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Appgal: thanks for the advice. I took some pictures and just opened the one with the shoes and they are all fine. The one with the open sides I'm going to call CS right now. Crossing my fingers...

    ReplyDelete
  54. Victoria - Starry night cardi on Deby in this post. Third pic, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  55. code should be MUSTSTOP for sure! I think that Jcrew is getting addicted to how much we respond when everything is 40% off.

I agree with FFM that I would like to see some promo when the new arrivals come in- how about 20% and Free shipping? (Boden has been running this one for about a week and I have picked up some really cute stuff for my warm weather trips in March) Besides won't there be less in Final sale in June if they sell it now at 20% off vs 40%+ 5 months from now?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Nothing for me, but I did get the airplane tee for my nephew ($10ish)and the boy's indie parka ($58ish)and rollneck sweater (old school!) for my little guy (neither are final sale). Completely agree that it would be so much smarter for them to offer a 20% discount on spring rollout like Boden.

    ReplyDelete
  57. So glad I got the Rainy Day Utility jacket on the last promo when it was $150 less 40%. It's back to full price of $188 now. I got it for $90, which is less than half of the current listed price. It should arrive Monday or Tuesday, orders take forever to get to me in Canada. I'll definitely give a review as it looks like it could be a fast favorite with the sherpa lining and hood.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I added a review of the wool flannel 1035 trousers (item 28587) to the JCrew Reviews thread for Sangrita. FYI for anyone thinking about ordering them: they're very thin, unlined, and nothing like any wool flannel I've ever seen. If you're looking for some warm, cozy winter pants, keep looking.

  61. Connor--I just got the Aveline. It is tts (and it is a lovely dress that you can dress up for a cocktail party or wedding and dress down for a summer day). It is a little big in the chest for me (I'm 34A and got an 8). The skirt is a little straighter and less A-line than I thought but it still has plenty of room to move. But I'm being picky here. I'm an 8 and the 8 is the right size. I'd highly recommend it. I got the dark green and it is a lovely classic yet modern dress, fully lined and beautifully made. The fabric is quite lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Just to add, I got the washed silk Aveline. I know it comes in multiple fabrics :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Moya, is the aveline dress very low cut? The v-neck looks so low in the picture but I don't know if it is the same in real life. I am interested in getting it in that dark moss color, so gorgeous. Thanks for your advice.

    ReplyDelete
  64. It's pretty low but not obscene. I'm pretty self-conscious about low necks, partly because I teach and don't want to expose myself. The dress is also not so low that you can't wear a bra. And the moss color is gorgeous--it's slightly grayer than in the photo but still lovely. I don't want to be an enabler, especially given recent posts about cutting back on spending, but it is such a great dress and the price is right. I also got the green silk faille swan dress to wear as a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding and that is also lovely, but not a dress I can wear often like the Aveline. That green is also stunning, I'd get the Margeaux too but that would be overkill.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I fell completely off the wagon last night, when I saw the 40% off back on. Picked up the Donegal tweed schoolboy blazer in Alum. Got this previously in Moss, and wasn't too keen on the color. Also picked up the Ruffled Henley in Dark Seaweed.

Received 2 orders today. Mostly keepers but I had a few that disappointed.

    Rainy Day Utility Jacket
Very well made and very utilitarian. The Green Army and style reminds me of a military flight jacket. My issue with this one is, it added way too much bulk to my frame. I've never seen my shoulder look so big.

    Merino Ruffled Strata cardigan
I loved the Dark Seaweed color but I don't like the style. The buttons hit right at the bust.

    Chevron Cami
This is my 2nd try with this cami. The first one I ordered was way too big on top. I sized down this time and it fits perfect. Great buy at this price. I will definitely be picking up more.

    Tri-buckle Waist Belt
Extremely cute and well made. I think this one might be sold out.

    Two way Silk tee
The rose color is gorgeous. A little on the big side. I would size down next time.

    ReplyDelete
  66. TJ, yes I have had 2 cancellations, one mismarked sweater in an order and another order from Sunday not yet shipped. I've never had it take this long to cancel out or ship. The good news is that they told me they'll upgrade shipping for free once the shipment goes out.

BTW, I called today about a FS item that didn't fit and the FS was removed immediately (its already returned). No questions asked!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Some quick reviews:

Dulphine Bling-Button Cardi: Boy, this puppy is "whispery" for sure! I got the raisin and the golden chartreuse. Both colors are beautiful, but the raisin doesn't seem quite as see-through as the chartreuse. For $14.99, it's a nice dressy sweater and I do like the slightly shorter torso look for layering

Trouper Pant: TTS - I have confirmed it! :) I had ordered this one earlier with the 30% off, but when I needed to fill in my last order for $100 and free shipping (with 40%) I re-ordered my same size and color. Absolutely bizarre, but the 30% pair was slightly baggy. I was bummed because I know the look (Houlihans, mentioned earlier and I also own a Paige pair in black) and the pants were too baggy in the rear to pull it off. It just looked like a pair of ill-fitting cargo pants! Since they were returnable (and still are - even with the current 40%), I didn't sweat it. When I received the 40% off pair today, I tried it on just for the heck of it (I appreciate JCAs mentioned that there is a lot of size variation even with same colors and sizes). This pair fits beautifully! So I would say order your usual size. I'm glad I tried on this pair because I was tempted to size down, and while I could fit, my usual JC size is the best for me. Would be tempted to order the shadow if they had my size...

Lodge Puffer Vest: My DH said, When are we done with Puff? I think this is the last of it :). Fits a little large and would have been tempted to size down. Big difference IMHO not having the sherpa lining. Looks bulkier than last year's Sherpa Puffer Vest and certainly feels roomier. So now I have a vest that compresses my chest when I layer and one that doesn't LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I haven't ordered in almost (gasp) a year! Too many errors in orders and a period of poor quality. I decided to check the website early this morning and found some stuff. Won't take much for me to move away from online j crew ordering again, though. It sounds like the summer of 2008 with the warehouse problems :o(

    ReplyDelete
  69. I finally decided to order the Miller high-heel boots (in brown) that I've been looking at all fall - with the 40% off, they are about $120, finally a reasonable price. I also bought a pair of the stretch vintage trouser cords in cobblestone.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Caroline
So you were able to get the FS removed, just by calling and telling them an item doesn't fit?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Nothing for me personally, but I got a tee for my nephew and a skirt for my niece.

Fabulous Florida Mommy, I totally agree with both of your statements. Madewell has a top I'd love to try (and no b&m here) and I'd love 20-30% off on new arrivals.

    ReplyDelete
  72. For those of you who got cancellation emails, do they cancel one item from an order at a time? I ordered 3 items in one order and got the "We're sorry" email about only 1 item...Wondering if the other 2 in the order will come through. I ordered these on the 15th, insane!
    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I tried the troupers in store long time ago, size 6 fitted me perfectly, so I ordered them two weeks ago with the 30% off and surprise they are huge so I tried reorder them in size 4 and they are gone. I really like them but they're too baggy everywhere I'm wondering if putting them in the dryer would be a good idea...

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thanks Caroline

I was starting to feel like the only one who wasn't getting my stuff! My online ps has been very good about offering to find the cancelled items in store but no luck.

Tippy: I had one item cancelled yesterday from an order placed on the 16th and the rest shipped today. I had an item cancelled today from an order placed on the 15th and the rest still haven't shipped.
Another order my online ps placed last night had a cancellation today.
    It's getting very frustrating :(

    ReplyDelete
  75. Wolfy: Yes, I called and said the item didn't fit, that I had tried a Medium previously it was too big, made the logical decision to order a small and then it was too short and sleeves were too tight. It was no problem at all. In fact, they even apologized for the inconvenience. I took it back to the store without any question at all.

I have asked CS once before and my PS a few other times, I've never had a problem. I just explain the issue, why I ordered what size I ordered and how it didn't fit. I do think if you get a good rep they are reasonable if you aren't asking for every item to be released from FS.

I'm still very careful with FS merchandise and try not to deviate from items I've tried. I don't want to push my luck.

Tippy: I'm not sure because I've had one item per order fall out so I've never had an experience where more than one falls out. My guess is that you would get one cancellation email for all canceled items but their inventory system doesn't make a whole lot of sense some days.

I'm very happy to say that my orders have now all shipped. I just logged on and while it says released, if I drill down, there are tracking numbers by each item that was previously open. Even orders that I placed today.

  78. Update on my damaged box: So, I called CS rep about my box and he told me to open it to see if it was missing any items. I opened it and it was missing the top cardboard where they normally do this to cover a shipment. Two items were missing (and no longer available...very upsetting!) and they've filed for an investigation by UPS. I'm supposed to get a call from UPS and have kept the box... Has anyone had a similar experience? I wonder how long it will take for my refund? Grrr....

  81. Hey! I'm new to J. Crew Aficionada.. I got a giftcard to JCrew for my birthday and I want to use it wisely. I was looking at a pair of boots, and the Weatherby Riding Boot and the Sutton tall leather mid heel Boots (brownstone) caught my eye. Do any of you guys have them/have any reviews over them?? I just don't know how they fit or if they bunch up at the ankle.. Or if they're true to size.. or if I should get a half size up to account for socks..

I'd really appreciate any comments, because I'll be really sad if my birthday gift goes to waste on something I don't love... One thing I don't like about J.Crew is their lack of reviews on their website.. :(

TJ-my order from the 15th hasn't shipped either, meanwhile I just got an email with tracking info for the order I placed yesterday! I'll keep you posted if my order ever ships.

  87. Linh, I have the Sutton boots and love them. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them too. But I am partial to JC shoes and boots. I do believe one other JCA felt they "bagged" a little at the ankles and didn't like them. But I didn't have that problem. HTH!

  88. Oh, I'd like to hear from anyone who ordered the Factory Printed pencil skirt that looks like a pattern from JC last summer. I have it in my cart, but am worried about fit/quality issues.

  91. one more request for a review. Does anyone have the Dulphine sailor sweater? And if so, please give a brief review. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Lizzy T: Just got Lolli's from my B&M and ended up sizing down so they had a sleeker look. In either my regular size, and of course the size-down, the butt is a little snugger than I would normally expect. So if by pear-shape you perhaps mean an ample behind, you might need to size-up!? Anyone else had this experience? I am not pear shaped, but I certainly "have a butt!" HTH

wasn't the striped reve (sorry or whatever it is in french) on sale? i fell in love after seeing it on lauren hutton but now it's back to fp?

  97. does anyone have the teal flannel boy shirt? any comments? like or dislike?

  98. Yes the Reve tee in Navy was $42 on sale about 2 weeks ago and now back up to Full price in Navy:(

    ReplyDelete
  99. This morning a whole bunch of stuff re-appeared in the sale section. I was finally able to snag a white ash drapey sequin tank, a mansfield blue merino dore cardi, and two other cardis. Total for four items was $106.42 including tax, that's not bad. Of course there's the "did I really need these?" factor, but at least now I can stop checking the web site obsessively each morning. I am at peace, for a while at least.

  100. Jruby18:

Yesterday I received the factory neopolitan pencil skirt (print from last year). I also ordered the pistache but it's on backorder. It's cotton and print is flat. By that I mean the retail skirt had a texture to it. The factory is soft cotton.

Personally I'm happier with this factory version because I didn't like the texture of the retail version. I have another factory cotton pencil skirt from last summer and I love it. They are casual, have a bit of stretch, and are easy to wear. They are comfortable and easy to wash. I like to fit as well-but it's not quite as great as the retail version-a close second though. I ordered my usual retail size 4 and it hugs great. I do need to have it hemmed slightly because I'm petite.

  101. Yes per Tamara I happened to be awake (I never check all the time :) but there was a big update and there were lots of good things. The 2 pairs I was looking for were back stocking in all sizes and colors. I got the Lindy platforms. There still weren't many XXS cashmere sweaters - I want another zipup hoodie!! I have none since my shrunken ones from 07I could have gotten XS but I have a feeling it will be baggy with the new Sizing. Anyone have input?

Also, someone was looking for the Drea dress - it was there incl XX but hope it still is! Also Haya sequin incl XS.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Ok severe lack of coffee and sleep... translation as follows "the 2 pairs of shoes I was looking for were back in stock", "071" is 07 and "XX" is XS.
    Happy shopping

  103. Jruby18, I received the Dulphine Sailor Sweater just last night. I usually order a Small in tops and sweaters but got a M in this one and i really like the way it fits. It is comfortably slouchy without being sloppy. Was really worried it would be too loose but now think Small would've been too fitted. Very happy with it! Hope this helps you!

  104. teal flannel boy shirt
I got this prior to FS and had to return it. The color is much bluer IRL. Just not what I expected or liked.

Lots of lovelies up today, but all out in my size. I'll be snatching The Hoodie Fairground Cardigan once it's restocked in my size.

  105. I agree that the Miller HIgh heels are TTS. LOVE mine. Also just received the Minnetonka Shearling Lined boots. Ordered an 8 (generally wear 8 or 8.5) and they fit fine. I will not wear them with thick socks....if planned on wearing thick socks would order up. Also (yes, went a little crewzy!) received my Double Cloth Lady Day Coat in torch orange. I ordered a Tall (first time doing that - was worried) as I am at the bottom of the JCrew tall size. Found it to fit beautifully. Torch orange is NOT a bright orange. I actually thought they sent the wrong color and had to check the tag!

  106. Anyone have the Vintage silk cami? I wonder if it fits TTS. I have another JC Cami, which I had to size down. TIA

  107. Does anyone know what a red "remove" means on a released, but not submitted order? I ordered the pearl cobblestone bracelet and some cargo pants a bit ago, and the bracelet has a "remove" in the right hand column (but still appears to be available).

  108. Tippy, unfortunately I have had multiple items canceled from a single order and I received the notification one email at a time over a few days. It is really frustrating when that happens, especially when they cancel the most wanted items in the order. Good luck with yours.

It sounds like people are getting some great deals. At times like these I often wish I would have held out for a bigger discount, particularly for those full price items I bought. But it's too much work to try and get up early to check for popbacks every day and if I totally missed out I would be even more disappointed since I've worn absolutely everything I've bought so far, other than the three items I returned.

    Happy shopping!

    ReplyDelete
  109. My guess is that since the 40% off is on until Wednesday, there will be another restock on Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday. In my experience, on the last day of the sale, there are more and further markdowns. So if you are really looking for something, check again later. J Crew is notorious for 'restocking' in all sizes items that were 'sold out' just days before. For example, the Lolli pants that were supposedly sold out online and in stores for many weeks -- they were available in many sizes this morning. I found the same to be the case for the golden brocade top, or the tartan trousers. I don't know if they intentionally say items are sold out to create a 'frenzy' for that item, or whether the management of their inventory is just plain sloppy. I understand that people return things, but in all sizes? Hmm. Either way, I find that 'sold out' items often reappear eventually, much cheaper. The lace dobby skirt, for example, I predict that's going to get a major restock and will head to sale.

  110. Tippy:
All my orders shipped overnight! And when I checked the website this morning, one of my cancelled items was back. :)
Not sure how those other shoes, camis and sweaters jumped in my cart with it but I think I had better avoid the website for a while! At least early in the morning when there is a big restock....
    Hopefully yours ships today :)

  111. Was able to grab the sunnie pencil skirt in gold and timber tweed skirt in my size 2. Both under $60. So happy! Hope Jcrew updated again soon so I can get other items I want.

  112. Okay, this really MUSTSTOP. I'm currently in the middle of a CPA prep course, and I spent the last hour not learning because I'm shopping on my phone. If I fail the CPA, I'm blaming J. Crew! (Not myself for lack of willpower.)

    ReplyDelete
  113. @The Chic Chauffeur - thank you! I called and they only have a 0 left. I appreciate the tip very much though. :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. dinster, a lot of the inventory is likely from stores sending back the unsold winter items. When I lived in the South, my local store would send back winter leftovers pretty fast, especially if they were "holiday". By mid-January people were already looking for spring clothes. I imagine it takes time for the warehouse to process all those items back into online inventory and it's probably done in chunks, which we see as a restock.

We have all witnessed J.Crew playing pricing games but I don't think they are as able to play inventory games given their awful inventory management system. I find it hard to believe they would not restock high-demand items that sell out at full price, if they could. JMHO

    ReplyDelete
  115. I placed, then canceled an order this morning. I had the marigold jacquard bell skirt which I love in theory but I think it is probably too shiny in real life. I am glad I won't be stuck with it on final sale. My other two orders from the MUSTHAVE promo (that's what it was, right?) got here and I am happy.

Softspun sunset dress for $17.99. It is shorter than I imagined but cute for the price.

Wool crepe fav fit pants for $23.99. Awesome price for lined wool pants. Will get tons of use out of them.

Returning infinity cardigan in wisteria because my other infinity cardis in black, black pine, and a greenish color (not sure what its called) have all pilled horribly after one wear :(

    ReplyDelete
  116. I agree with dinster. They will likely restock at least one more time during this promo - usually the last day, and big one like today if they are nice. Hopefully not a small one then and a big one the day after if they are not being so nice... :)
And like xoxo I don't get up early and check etc, I just don't have time nor inclination to do that right now, but I do know that depending which coast you live on and how keen you are you can get lucky - in the past I remember being online during a restock and I used to know what time they did it because it used to happen at the same time of day.. :) The things I got early this morning are now completely gone. I actually think it is not only things returned from stores but things held in the warehouse. This would be why they often release a whole run of sizes and colors of things in a restock that were not available the day before and also the day after a promo ends. I mean it is not like they suddenly had that item returned to them in all sizes and colors. Same for the "only a few made" Collection pieces that then months later appear on the sale page..eg Watercolor Potpourri Coat, Beaded Jacquard Jacket (name could be wrong) from earlier this year in all sizes.

Anyway, I suppose for those of us that know this is how this works, at least we are forewarned...but for neophtye shoppers....?

    ReplyDelete
  117. But xoxo I am sure you are right too - likely a combo of all of these... I just doubted that the Lindy shoes I got today that they had only 1 color and size 10 they had all sizes in all 3 colors this morning were all store returns - maybe though..? :)

For me like you, I just have too much going on. If I can't get the things, oh well. Not enough time to be checking the website all the time...And the things I do have I am happy and needed them and wear them. (Incl a full price Anthro dress that was expensive and I could have gotten on sale now but would have required a whole lot of time and effort I don't have)

    ReplyDelete
  118. Was waiting for the boutonnaire blazer and it came back :) - and not final sale either! I did notice that the wool double-serge pencil skirts went back to full price..bummer...always tricky, JCrew...always tricky...

    ReplyDelete
  119. SsubanSometimes is good to browse the sale section after a restock just to know the current prices. This morning I saw the Kerrinton ballet flats that I had tried in store two weeks ago but didn't get because they were still 69 and felt a little bit small in my regular size. They are 49.99 online so I called the store to check if they still had them. They did and they matched the online price less 50% off. For $24 I can take a risk.

    ReplyDelete
  120. want to add that I don't want to refrain any JCAs from buying the lace dobby skirt (#35081), because it's a great skirt and on my wish list for spring/summer, but there are a GAZILLION of them in all sizes in all my local stores (I live outside of Washington DC) and so personally I'm not buying this 'sold out' business.

I agree, xoxo, that J Crew is probably too disorganized to do this completely intentionally, although I also agree with sydneygirl, some items must just be kept in boxes in the warehouses until sale time. This happens on the small-scale too; I know stores that explode with hard-to-find items at sale time, just because the store manager packed away these items in boxes. I know, it doesn't make sense! I did a corporate report once on the supply chain of businesses, and J Crew may be an example of a business whose components may not be talking to each other -- ie. the warehouse may not be in sync with the stores, upper management not talking to the rank-and-file. They really need a reorganization which hopefully will happen once they go private again.

Whatever the reason for J Crew's chaotic inventory, I have learned that most every item on my wish list reappears eventually, even cashmere in hard-to-find colors. Hope this helps JCAs worried about their wish lists!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Sydneygirl, I am sure you are right and there are a combination of factors that affect the inventory. They seem so disorganized that I can truly believe they have some "sold out" items in all sizes and colors somewhere in the warehouse and don't realize it until some point after the item is marked down. You would *think* they would try to sell them at full price or at least not sale + 40% off.

I do remember last year or maybe in 2009 that Gigi first reported her local stores had shipped back all the sale inventory and then others chimed in with the same info. Shortly thereafter there were huge restocks of sale merch online. Of course without JCA I may not have put 2+2 together.

Obviously I am way overthinking it! I guess that's what happens to me when I'm not shopping - I'm still thinking about the dynamics of it all. Although I am following in case I can offer an opinion or sizing advice to others, especially since it is final sale for a lot of it.
    :^)

    ReplyDelete
  122. dinster, I totally agree, J.Crew seems very disjointed regarding inventory and also pricing between online and B&M. Hopefully they will get more organized and it will benefit the consumer.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I also feel like this in-stock/out-of-stock madness is not intentional. I was willing to pay the regular sale price of several items just a few days ago, prior to the 40% off promo. Today I was able to buy the items at 40% off. If it is intentional, I love their thinking. :) They just saved me a lot of $$.

Uh, thanks to the person who suggested there will be more restocking before the promo ends. I thought I was at peace with my purchases today! I thought I wouldn't be back on the J Crew web site for at least a month! Alas, now I will be on Mon-Wed mornings looking for more things I "need"...

(But dang my wardrobe is looking fine!)

    ReplyDelete
  124. Well wouldn't you know it, I found myself in the vicinity of the Durham mall this morning and convinced the hub to let me have just 10 minutes to peruse the Crew's sale section. ... They had one pair of trouper pants in my size and as I'd figured, they were too large in the waist/butt but basically OK in the legs. I would need to lose another 10 pounds to think I looked good in them, though. If they'd had a size smaller in stock, I'd have bought them, as they were only $29.99 and my store was doing an extra 50% off sale items!

So if you're a 10 in Troupers and you want them in Shadow, call the store. :)

I did pick up a pair of gold Kerrington ballet flats, which were $25 after discount. I think if I put insoles in, they'll fit, as I find the ballet flats usually run a half to a full size small for me. We shall see.

Also by some stroke of luck, they had the Cosabella thing 3-pack in my size, and who could resist at $17 after discount? That's usually what you pay for 1 pair if you're lucky. :)

I did notice they had unboxed all the Stila ligloss sets and marked them individually at $9.99 (before discount).

HUUUUUGE sale update this morning, something like 1200 items when I checked around 8:30 am. I was able to grab a few unremarkable things I'd wanted for some time, including the Palermo paisley bikini (yay).

    ReplyDelete
  125. Oh and dinster, ITA completely. It definitely sounds like the different parts of J Crew's business are not talking to each other technologically. If they wree, we wouldn't have these constant pricing and discount discrepancies, and the SAs would not have to call another store to check inventory -- they could look it up real-time in the computer system.

FAIL FAIL FAIL, J Crew. There is just no excuse for not having an enterprisewide system that processes transactions in real time.

Of course, if they ever get one, we won't have our lovely predictability of restocking. They're obviously batch-processing their data in the wee hours of the morning. Soooooooo old-school. It's not like they don't have the money for a state-of-the-art system!

BTW, I noticed when I clicked on a ghost item this morning that there's a new, longer message that coems up in a big orange box about the item being sold out and contacting an associate to make a different choice. Hmmm,

  126. Irl pics of the woolen twill Minni pants in this post.

  127. This is what the new message says, weird! See it on the item page for the stadium-cloth peacoat with gold buttons ...

This item has been very popular and has sold out. Call one of our personal shoppers—they'll work their magic to try and find it for you or add you to a wait list should it come back in stock.

  128. Does anyone have the toothpick jean in "last call wash" (item 33765)? On the website it looks like a faded grey but I am always wary of buying denim online. Also, if you do have it, is it TTS? It's on sale right now for $79.99 - with the 40% off, I'm really tempted.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Boy, they are processing these orders quickly...right after my "hour window" was up they released the order. Usually the open status sits for awhile. I think the idea is to get those $$ in the books as quickly as possible and just move inventory.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Dinster and xoxo - yes, and I have no knowledge of supply chains or merchandising in my career(s):)

And yes, I agree, cashmere does reappear eventually in all colors and all sizes at some point on sale.(Except for maybe a rare amazing piece like that Butterfield cardi they did in 2007 meaning something unusual that you have to get lucky the first time it goes on sale) I didn't know that back 3 years ago which is why I have a cream shawl collar cardi I bought at full price....? :) Anyway, like with this morning's restock of sale sweaters which I think is the biggest during a good promo this fall/winter (anyone feel free to correct me). I am just not sure with the new XXS availability because they still haven't added it to the search sizes for the sweaters and they didn't have a XXS for most of the cashmere even though they came in that size so I am hoping I can pick up the couple of cardis/sweaters at sale price at some point this winter. But if not I know they'll be back next year in similar shades... :)

  131. I purchased the following items during the 40% off promo last week:

    1. Eliza lace-up boots (in black) - love, love, love. If the olive moss color is available in my size, its very likely that I would purchase that one too. It's perfect for skirts of all lengths, shorts, jeans, and fun socks.TTS.

    2. Weatherby riding boots (in weathered wood) - I like these a lot also. Again, perfect with everything! TTS.

    3. Lisette lace shell (in olive moss) - I would purchase the black one if available in my size.

    4. Lace love tank (in dusty lilac) - its very delicate. I want to swear off of these high maintenance tops but it is very pretty.

    5. Bonfire cardigan (in marl grey) - I want so much to love because it is SO SO SO comfortable (especially in a negative degree day like today). The downside is that it is a heavy cardigan that makes me look a little heavy too. I think I might return this one.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Em, I got the Marigold skirt and I love it--it isn't too shiny (at least it isn't for me--I will dress it down with muted sweaters and wooly tights). But it does run really small. I got the 10--I am usually an 8 or a 6 in J. Crew skirts and this just fitted. It is also very short. I don't usually complain about length as I like minis, but I am 5'10" and if it was any shorter I couldn't wear it. For around $24 I love it though, especially as I nearly got a similar skirt on sale from Club Monaco that was around $80.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Thanks Moya. I feel better about cancelling it... I am a 6 and I ordered the 6. I am also the same height as you. Sounds like it would have been a disaster! Maybe if it pops back in an 8 or 10 I will go for it... THANKS!

    ReplyDelete
  134. TJ: yay, glad your items shipped! I just called CS to find out what was going on with my order from the 15th. It apparently shipped out yesterday so it looks like the online order status is not up to date.

I placed an order this morning (ok, 2 orders...) and was told that both were released and in the process of being shipped, meaning they are in stock but since they don't ship on weekends I won't get any updates until Monday (if I'm lucky!)

    Enjoy your new goods!

  135. Linh, here is a IRL picture I took of the Weatherby Riding Boots. The color is a little off in the online store photo. The true color is pretty close to the November catalog picture.

I definitely feel like I will love it even more when paired with shorts/skirts (versus jeans). It felt a tad bit snug in the calf area with my jeans. I love that it is so easy to put on because of the back zipper. It is also made of soft leather. It fits TTS and has room for regular (not overly thick) socks.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I ordered a shearling zip hoodie this morning. Any comments on quality or sizing? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  137. thank you guys for the reviews! I had stuff hanging out in my cart and a lot of it disappered. I am off to see if anything is left there.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Eliza Lace-Up Boots IRL photo - this is one of my "I am in love" purchases :) One of my NY resolutions is to buy only the things that I am in love with - they must also be ON SALE, well-made and must also go well with so many looks. Of course, it's also really important to me that there is some room in my budget for these want (not need) items.

One very negative effect that J.Crew has in my life (apart from the credit card bill) is that it is sucking out my productivity. During 40% off promos, it is sucking very hard. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Linh, I have the flat Sutton boots and am really disappointed. They will not stay up over my calves and my calves are not small! I've only worn them once and after walking continuously for 5 mins they were bagged down around my ankles so badly that the tops of the boots were at least 5 inches lower than they were when I first put them on. I wore them at work all day and was constantly pulling them up. Perhaps the heeled Suttons are different but if you're looking for a knee high boot that stays knee high you might not want to take a chance IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I agree on the sutton boots when I saw them irl they don't seem to have the kind of structure where they will stand up on their own if that makes any sense. I know a lot of knee high boots end up slouchy a bit but these are extreme.

  141. I have gone to not placing an online order in a year to two orders in a 24 hour period. My order from yesterday shipped this morning. All pieces shipped! I ordered another suit to add more. I work in a business casual office but deal with more law firms now. (I'm non-practicing atty in an alternative field.)

So I needed some suits for spring.

  142. Anyone tried or own the Bandelier vintage leather (flat) boots? What do you think, love or not so much? How's the fit (are they running long or narrow?) and comfort? Would love some info ... thanks!!

@jcrewphd - Once in a great while, I've had a bashed box delivered and I've never had anything missing, even with skinny belts and flat flower pins in the order UNTIL a few weeks ago. A damaged box that was obviously taped up again by UPS came and a pair of wool Sunday pants I really wanted were missing. I called JC, they said to keep the box and I'd be hearing from UPS. A couple days later, a small box mysteriously appeared at my door ... it was the missing pants! Best I can figure is UPS found it someplace and traced it to me when JC sent in the investigation? Let's hope it turns out that way for you!!!

  145. I hate these pop back! I ordered the miller boots in size 6.5 instead of the my regular size 6 because they were gone in black in my size last week. Now the 40% are back with my size and the color I wanted... How do they restock??? I hate it! The boots do fit me ok but I know a size 6 would be better... I haven't even worn them yet... Should I re-order them??? but they might not ship too...

    ReplyDelete
  146. I bit and ordered some basics I am happy with ... minnies, perfect fit tees in spring colors. I try to be GOOD and order only multiples of items I have or have tried on during FS.

But I am so tempted by the Miller boots!!!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Spending too much money!! I've placed 4 orders during these two 40% off sales! I reordered the suit jacket that was canceled from my first order and a pop-back pair of boots. Still looking for the skirt to match the suit, but waiting to see if the jacket ships first!!

    ReplyDelete
  148. Maya, I had that situation recently with a pair of boots I bought on endless. I now own two pair, one in my correct size and the other a 1/2 size larger. I like these boots so much I decided that I'll wear the wrong sized ones now, and when they wear out I'll have a nice new pair that fits perfectly. I realize that this isn't the healthiest way to shop, but if you like the boots a lot, and certainly getting them on sale PLUS 40% of is a good deal ... (oh my god I'm an ENABLER!) ...

I guess they are getting more serious about upgrading their website and its capabilities.

    Did anyone else get this?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Jacquie, that's awesome! LOL. I'd give my eyeteeth for the cherry blosom dress (ahh, dreams) .... Rose, I used to get those BizRate surveys frequently. and I always got a response from the company because I always fussed about shipping charges in the comments box at the end, lol. Too bad they have a character limit!

I only get the surveys on orders I place from work though, never at home. Hmmmm....

  156. Well, I should have jumped on the few things I really wanted b/c they're gone out of my basket. All that remains are a few things I'm not totally sold on, so I guess I'm not buying this go around unless they do another big restock.

  157. Just to tell you how crazy inconsistent their inventory & pricing is: when I was at the Northpoint mall (Georgia) B&M, they still had the trouper pants at $95, as well as several other shirts that online are sale less 40% off. They were all displayed w/spring items. I double checked just to make sure, as there is a new pair of spring cargos similar to the trouper, but it's true -- several titanium trouper pants at full price.

If I didn't stalk the website regularly & have a pretty good idea of the sales, I could've easily paid fp for these items!

  158. Elaine, I get the Bizrate surveys from a lot of places and if I have time I participate. Interestingly, most thank you for participating by sending you a code for 10% off your next order, or a code for $15 off. I get Bizrate surveys from J.Crew, and after? Nada. What a surprise.

I don't think they're planning anything. In fact, most of the time, I don't even think they plan. I think the JC business development goals for the next 2 years consist of furthering the Cult of Personality, continuing the repetitive use of off-center catch phrases, and coming up (almost as if by chance) with a few really cute items, which I will probably buy when they go on sale.

  160. @tiffannyrose: I have those boots. Ultra comfy and I practically live in them. They run TTS - I'm usually a 5.5/6 and got the 6 so I can wear with socks during winter. Highly recommended. Workmanship is also great, made in Italy.

  161. Thank you guys for your help! I really appreciate it! :)

  162. Tiffany Rose: I also have the flat Bandelier in Black. I do love them, I wear a 9 and can fit the camp socks comfortably. My only problem with them is that I live in New England and the leather bottoms are very, very slippery in any type of snow. I will use them more in the fall and spring and use the Cracked leather boots in the winter.

  163. Just a general question - does released mean that they have reserved the items for you or could things be canceled? Next to the order it says released and then when I click on it it says open. Wondering if I actually am going to get my FS items or not. Thx!

  165. I ordered the Mayfair topcoat for my husband to wear over suits during last weekend's 40% off final sale. It arrived and is too small to wear over a suit. Is there any chance that I can exchange for a bigger size, even though it was final sale? Even if they let me exchange, it's not available right now in the right size (unless they restock)... am I out of luck? Any suggestions?

  166. @amanda: thanks so much! Happy to hear they are so comfy that you live in them ... they are awfully difficult to resist with the 40% off sale price!

  167. @kathy: and thank you for the info on the flat Bandelier boots too :) I think the leather sole makes a big difference for comfort but can see how that can be slippery. No ice and snow where I live so I'd be OK ;)

  168. tiffany rose: Thanks for your feedback. I sure hope the items show up because I'm not placing any online orders and don't want to place a large order just to qualify for free shipping if it does popback.
Thinking now of my JC order history I've had items shipped separately (from the same order) without being notified of separate shipments (and arriving in different days). Very absurd... but then it's JCrew! I mean who's ever heard of retailers re-stocking 3 yr old inventory?! ;-)

  169. jcrewphd: my mysterious little box definitely did not come from JC, my pants were packaged in a cube shaped box and came from a strange address, think it came from UPS warehouse ...

  170. big restock this morning, but lots are going fast (I first checked at 6:20 and about 1/4 have gone since).

  171. It was a big restock! I was so disappointed I had the Rosebud perfect shirt in my cart and then it disappeared. Was able to snag the drapey sequin tee for a very respectable price however. Yahoo.

  172. OperaRach: I just talked to CS and she told me that the order is first "Submitted"--that's when there's time for it to become unavailable and within a few hours they'll know whether or not they have it in stock. Open means that it's downstairs in their warehouse getting ready to be packed, and Released means that they've given it to UPS but don't have a tracking number yet. So, if your items say Open, it's likely that it's being packaged right now although she mentioned that there's still that chance that it could be sold out (which isn't very helpful!) Hope this clarifies things a little bit for you.
