This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the HOLIDAY sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
New code posted on site. SHIP150 for free ship on orders of $150 or more. Guessing that others with different browsers or cookie settings may have different codes. Expires Friday Feb. 4, 2011.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm on Safari and am seeing SHIP100 for orders of $100 or more.
ReplyDeleteI went to the bellevue square jcrew today and tried on armloads of goodies, but nothing worked. Painter shirts were too thin, dresses were a pain to get into and then fit wrong, and my body does not suit the new "it" shirt shape of the season (Stripe button-back tee). The biggest sad news of the day was the Drapey stripe pullover hoodie 34084. I tried it on, and was ecstatic that it looked great, then noticed that the front pocket across the tummy was completely off. It was about 5 inches off the center! I asked the SA about it and she said that she knew about it and they were all like that and she was thinking of sending them back to the factory. Hm...a defective product is still on the racks at full price and you're still on the fence? I tried 2 more of the same shirt and they were all askew, even the seams running down the sides, so you couldn't just unstitch and remove the front pocket. It's just one shirt, but I knew it would have been a favorite. It worries me about what else is in store this season.
ReplyDeleteI see SHIP100 using Safari too.
ReplyDeletecyclone,
ReplyDeleteI am sure the store is leaving them out b/c there are consumers who won't seem to notice or be bothered by the pocket and buy it anyway. I think that is why defective merchandise if often put back at many stores after returns as well. It sells anyway...jsut a thought. Leaving them out to see if they sell regardless.
Subscribing. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the Copywriter from Space should just change to description for the drapey stripe pullover to indicate that it has "an of-the-moment, off-kilter kangaroo pocket. We're obsessed!". Problem solved! ;)
ReplyDeleteI also loved the drapey stripe hoodie. The ones in my store had mis-matched seaming at the shoulders. The stripes didn't line up at all. I'm bummed b/c it was one of the things I'd most wanted. And the ATLoft version is completely sold out. I should've jumped on that one.
ReplyDeleteWarning, long post ahead! :P
ReplyDeleteNo Crew for me this weekend. My giant final sale order from last week is arriving today -- still can't believe everything shipped, including the cashmere-lined leather gloves! I'm about falling over with anticipation of receiving that box o' goodies. :)
I will, however, be making my inaugural trip out to the JC factory store in Mebane, NC either on Friday or Monday. I figure even if I don't buy anything ('cause I won't if the prices aren't what I perceive to be fair), at least I can try some things on to get a better sense of sizing for some of the factory items. I'm so badly in need of pants and jeans that fit it isn't even funny anymore.
Incidentally, I will turn the big 3-8 next Monday, so I consider my big ol' final sale order a little bit of 'happy birthday to me!' :)
As a total aside, have any of you ever bought anything from Sabon? I found it by chance when I was in Soho a few weeks ago and OMGWTFBBQ I wanted to move in! I followed the smell all the way down the street and inside were the most delightful things. And the salesgirls were just as sweet as could be too. I was so mad that I could only get 1 small thing due to the liquids restrictions (grr) but I am in LOVE with their patchouli lavender vanilla scent, and I'm not normally a patchouli person. I loved the cream I got so much that I just placed a big ol' order online the other day. I think their shipping starts at $15 (eeep) so I had to go up over $100 to get free ship, but this is one time I definitely don't mind doing it! :D
I maintain that I'm doing my civic duty to stimulate the economy. Who's with me?
I walked into the Lake Grove NY store and all the sale merchandise is gone. The store is 1/4 empty!
ReplyDeleteMaybe they sent all the merch back to the factory for onine FS popbacks?
Pansy, there was a pretty big update in the sale section today. I'm sure stores must be sending the last dregs back to the warehouse now, in order to make room for spring. I imagine some of the items will be very shopworn and probably some used returns as well.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of popbacks, I will finally be going back to the U.S. in April and I can't wait to popback into a B&M myself. ;^)
Elaine- thanks for the tip on the fun store in SOHO. I am headed to NYC this weekend (well that is if I don't get grounded due to the 'epic' storm headed East!) and will check it out.
ReplyDeleteI also heard this weekend that all sale is being sent out of stores as of yesterday. Makes me happy as I am tired of looking at a heap of pants and thin tees that no one wants!
love it, silver_lining!
ReplyDeletePlease excuse me, this is completely and terribly OT-would you all please give your opinions on Kate Spade clothing-quality, fit, etc. Thank you!!
ReplyDeletei went to the outlet this weekend and they had the new spring stuff. lots of last years stuff especially the prints. the quality just wasn't there. i was interested in the stripe pullover hoodie but once i saw it IRL it was sooo cheapy. and the material was like blah and rough. not sure why anyone would pay over $15 for it.
ReplyDeletepictures are so deceiving! if you're near an outlet it is better to look at the stuff in person than on their online site. you'll probably end up not spending a cent.
xoxo, thanks for the tip about the update to the sale section. I finally scored the Merino Dore cardigan I've been trying to get for weeks.
ReplyDeleteFashionAncient, glad to hear it! I am not buying any winter clothes but I cannot stop looking at the sale section. LOL
ReplyDeleteI did not visit because I am so disgusted by how my cashmere from this season is wearing. Piling galore. I can't even get through a full day without needing to use the "sweater comb", and I am not sure if that is making it worse or not. I should have listened to everyone about the cashmere, after about the second wear it goes into piling madness mode. BOOOOOO.

ReplyDeleteMy ps told me on Saturday that Saturday was the last day sale would be in the b&m's. Pulling it off Saturday night and shipping back. So, I would expect an update later this week or early next week? Although who really knows how long it will take their system to get it all processed.
ReplyDeleteVisited J Crew on Saturday - got the marled Alexie sweater I've been eyeing for $24.99 and a Darla ruffle cami for $9.99. Stopped in to J Crew (a different store) on Sunday and all of the sale things were GONE. Whoever reported that Saturday was the last day was exactly right. The store was bare! Really nothing I have to have from the new collection and since we are expecting tons of snow this week, can't bear to look at spring clothes anyway. Still too much winter left where I live.
ReplyDeleteAlso visited a Crewlet over the weekend. The sale items were additional 30% off. Got a boyfriend beach cardigan for about $30 -- it is really, really nice. Also scored a black cashmere cardigan for $38. Lots of new spring items, but once again, can't really get into the spring clothes mode. Lots of last year's patterns and styles, especially the tees. Almost every one on the table was a copy from last spring/summer retail.
Sorry for the rambling post!
David -- I happened to visit a Kate Spade store yesterday, and bought myself a dress marked down 50%. So my comment is based on just this dress (and another I tried on).
ReplyDeleteI found both of them still looked fresh and tidy despite being the last ones on the sale rack. The fit was TTS in my case -- the size 2 was a smidge too tight but the 4 was fine (even better once I get my Spanx on :) ).
IMO, the quality of the dresses is very good. Zippers, hems, lining were all what I expected from a $400 garment. No stray threads or frays that I could see. And, most importantly, the fit is very nice -- it falls the way it should on the shoulders (no gaping), at the waist and bust.
HTH!
David, IMHO, KS is very rarely worth full price. Almost everything I've checked is made in China and the fabric content varies. While I LOVE this one skirt I have, it's 100% poly. Org price was $300 - that's a lot for poly. But the finishing is nice, I agree with Clicquot. I find the sizing a bit small. Oh, and you've probably noticed, but most of the clothes are styled with a skinny straight figure in mind. Makes it trickier for we curvier girls with a bust ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been curious about ks too!
ReplyDeleteSaturday marked the end of the fiscal year for jc- hence all the sales, mark downs etc!
silver_lining, that had me laughing! If Jenna says "off-kilter chic is all the rage this spring", who am I to argue?
ReplyDeleteCliquot and Mommydearest, thank you so much for your input. I'm needing a few nice dresses for warmer weather and ks has always reminded me somewhat of the old JC. My fingers are crossed for a Spring Sale!
ReplyDeleteDavid -- I agree with mommydearest in that I wouldn't have paid $400 for my dress. $190? Yes, definitely! :) Also, it's true about the bust line issue -- I am VERY small-busted...a bigger-than-B-cup woman would have to go up a size in this particular style.
