The email features Jenna Lyon's favorite picks for vacation. To check out her "can't leave home without them" picks, click here. She is quoted the following:
I'm off to Turks & Caicos for some much-needed sunshine to start the new year. My packing list? Lots of stripes in fresh silhouettes, signature sparkle and a few creature comforts to wear on the plane, like a cozy cardi and comfy boots. Once I'm home, I'll be layering all these easy-to-wear items into my winter wardrobe.Right now, imagining somewhere warm and sunny sounds great! :) As for her items selected, I love two of them. First is the Crystal Venus Flytrap Necklace (Item 39566; $85.00). I love the look of this necklace! The rave reviews from fellow JCAs only make me drool more over this gorgeous item. Second, the Sailor Sweater (Item 37905; $88.00). Much like ruffles and sparkles, I am a sucker for some stripes.
What are your thoughts on the items she packed? Do you agree with her selections? Which pieces do you think transition well from season to season?
I love the sailor sweater and Venus flytrap necklace as well. I also really like the pinstripe minishorts. I ordered the sailor sweater and minishort. I also got the Irena gladiator sandals, the wedge version, and I must say I love these shoes! They seem very comfortable and are super cute! I can't wait until it warms up and I can wear them!
ReplyDeleteThe swim suit is lovely but only available in one size in the pale pink color. Why promote something that you have very little stock of? That's frustrating to me.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read this, I can't help but feel jealous. Oh what I'd give for the ability to just pack up my family and pop off to some exotic locale for a week or three!
ReplyDeleteI would love that striped hoodie if it had a v-neck. I'm not a fan of crewneck anything overall, just something about it doesn't look nice on me.
I've got my matchstick denim from end of summer 2010, so good on me for that! lol.
Like that bonfire cardi; I see it's on promo for $98. Has anyone seen it IRL?
There are 2 issues for me with the sailor sweater. One is it looks VERY baggy on the model. If I'm wearing horiz. stripes, I want them to be fitted. Second, I don't like the rollup button strap thingers. They make the garment clunkier than I want it to be.
I wish I'd gotten the Dulphine striped sweater in the coal/ivory color combo. Does anyone have it, and can you tell me what you like/dislike?
I really think the swimsuit is pretty, but I'm so pale, it would look as if I weren't wearing anything. I agree about the crewneck on the hoodie. I wanted it so badly, until I tried it on in my B&M. The neck is so small it was uncomfortable.

ReplyDeleteOT: There are a handful of new items added to the website this morning.
ReplyDeleteDon't you all think that the Venus flytrap necklace is sort of an inferior mixed crystal colletto of last summer. I prefer the way the stones are set on the colletto- there are fewer prongs (refer to the Gigi's excellent and comprehensive blog)-

Carol you are so right about that necklace. Funny story there. I purchased it at the Collection store, where they charged me $135 for it. Then went across town to Time Warner Center, where it was only $85. I took a closer look. wondered what the heck I was thinking and promptly returned it. Between the Colletto and the Mixed Steps I had that necklace need covered!
ReplyDeleteI love that swim suit. It looks too pretty to get wet.
ReplyDeleteTwo thumbs up for the Brigadier utility jacket. J.Crew always pairs it with super casual clothes...but seriously girls, it looks great with a skirt or super feminine dress! gotta mix and match the looks!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good classic piece!
I tried on the sailor sweater in black linen at my B&M yesterday. It was actually my PS's own sweater that had just arrived in the store, and she was kind enough to let me try it on before doing a red phone order. It is definitely loose-fitting, so size down if you don't want that look. It is a pretty long sweater, so sizing down shouldn't affect that. I thought I wouldn't enjoy the roll-up buttoned sleeves, but it actually looked quite cute.
ReplyDeleteAlso -- and this may just be the English teacher in me -- why is it called the Sailor sweater online, and Saylor sweater in my catalog?! :)
I like stripes but some days I wonder if I'm wearing too much stripes?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't really think Jenna has a lot of J Crew in her luggage, and if she does, she probably doesn't wear it. She probably wears the real designer stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhat will Jenna pack when J.Crew sends her on her permanent vacation?
ReplyDeleteRE: Bonfire Cardigan
ReplyDeleteI just got the bonfire cardigan on promo and I should say it's a very "substantial" sweater, maybe a little stiff because it's very thick but also very warm. Not itchy at all. I would only wear it with leggings or skinny jeans, otherwise it would make me look bulky. I took an XXS on this one, I'm usually an XS in Jcrew but whenever they offer a smaller size I take it. It fit me just right. I'm short and it hit me below the hips. I'm going to keep it because I like the look.
I love the Venus flytrap necklace! I got it as a ride-along, I don't need any (J Crew) jewelry and I never buy it full price - but when it arrived - I fell in love. ;) It is a nice length and the shape of the stones and the weight of it (light)... very fun. All of the prongs almost make the stones look like sunflowers.
