Sneak Peek Into J.Crew's New Catalog

We already know that J.Crew's upcoming catalog will be a destination catalog. We even got to see an image from the catalog in last week's "J.Crew's New Catalog Hearts Los Angeles" post. Now we have two more images to drool over.

A big "thanks!" to an anonymous JCA who shared these two catalog images with us. (Just click on either image for a larger view.) She also shares that new arrivals are expected to become available online this Thursday. Yey!

It looks like J.Crew is going back to simple (in other words, no more crazy layering). Well it works! I am loving what I am seeing so far. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the catalog has to offer.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming catalog from J.Crew? Do you like the clothes and styling? Are you excited about new arrivals online this week?

  1. I applaud the return to simplicity, but this may be too far in the other direction for me.

No matter. My poor, boor bank balance needs a respite! FS is deadly!

  2. I like it! Simple style is exactly what I love. These two pictures are lovely. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the rest of the catalog!

  4. pretty pretty! I love that first look especially. Even though I'm still months away from spring weather, I'm really looking forward to spring colors.

  5. Thanks for sharing! Maybe it is the 70 degree weather we are having in AZ, but I am SO over all of the fall and winter colors...the recent FS didn't tempt me at all. Bring on spring!

Here's hoping I get my rewards card soon so I can snatch up some new spring attire!

  6. I saw the skirt in store, nice color, but don't love the bubble shape

  7. Lots Of great Close-ups of some J.CREW SPRING 2011 collection photos by Shawn Punch.
WARNING: some models needed a pedicure.

BUT I LOVE these denim lace-ups:

  8. How many of you out there can say you would wear those shoes 5 years from now? I think they're impractical.

  9. I really like the styling, but was VERY unimpressed by the roll-out in the B&M. The color story again was confusing. Some spring-y brights mixed in with autumnal hues. I didn't see any must-haves :((

  10. It looks very promising and LA is one of my favorite destinations, so I am looking forward to grabbing my copy (since I have been dropped off the list AGAIN even if I have just received the card with the VIP number. Go figure).

But I must say that I saw the skirt in stores and it looked very cheap. Plus, aren't we a little bit over rosettes?

  11. I also really like the styling and will be looking forward to seeing the entire catalog.

  12. speaking of catalogs, have ppl gotten their January catalogs yet? I haven't.

  13. @Jruby18, I live in Canada and have mail redirected from the west coast to the prairies here, and I just got mine last week. The Feb. one will take till end of next month to get to me, I'd project. Thanks Anon JCA for sharing the sneak peeks! I'm loving what I see so far (OK, maybe not the bubble sequin skirt).

  14. JRuby18, you are not alone, I never got the January catalog (and I am in NYC).

  15. I saw the skirt in the second picture in store and I love it. Might be a little on the short side though.

  16. OT: Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but Madewell now has Free Shipping and Free Returns on all jeans for a limited time. They are calling it their "Genius Jeans Guarantee".

  17. Just got my Spring rewards card in the mail today! It was enclosed in a mini look book. I didn't get the Jan catalog in the mail either.

  18. Thanks anonymous JCA and Alexis for sharing the photos. I like the styling and love the mid-century modern feel of the second photo in particular. A few years back J.Crew did a similar mid-century modern themed catalog in some famous house in Palm Springs or Palm Desert or Indian Wells, but I can't remember the details (obviously, not even the specific location). I am a fan of that period though and the classic looks from that time.

lbi, I love those high-heel denim oxfords too. Very fresh for spring and summer. I looked that the Punch photos from your link yesterday and didn't notice the pedi problems. Not going back again to check that out. LOL

  19. xoxo: I know the catalog you're talking about (it's one of my favorites) and thought the same thing about the 2nd picture on this post. The catalog is from March 2008 and it was shot at the Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs. I posted some of the images on my blog back in July of last year. Click here to see them. :)

  20. I never got my January catalog, and I've already picked up this catalog in my B&M. I really like this catalog, especially the crewcuts section. Can't wait for spring!

  21. Anyone else notice the complete lack of earrings? I really liked the designs from the past few seasons - I sure hope this is just a catalog styling choice . . .

  22. Punch photos, definitely saw some pieces I would like to try. The lattice sweater w/ Ikat skirt and boots- <3 Is this in stores?

I wish their flat sandals had more sole or wedge or lift.......so flat!!!

  24. Fabulous Florida Mommy, thank you!! I love those photos - the Kaufmann house and of course, the clothes, so many lovelies. How nice of you to share the catalog pics. :^)

  25. so OT but does Madewell offer % off new arrivals anytime soon....a couple sweaters I am eying right now. thanks, kt

  26. Thanks FFM for the pix--it predates my JC crush. Can't wait to see the shots of the Koenig house in this new one!

  27. I am so excited! I can't wait to get it in the mail... Funny thing is, though, I was at J. Crew at the Grove here in Los Angeles and the sales associate looked dumbfounded when I inquired about the catalog that was shot in Los Angeles. Anyway! Can't wait to see everything.

  28. Forgot to mention that I also love the handsome Sam Page modeling the men's line in this catalog. He can definitely pull off the classic hollywood look IMO. I have always recycled my J.Crew catalogs but I might just have to hang on to this one.

  29. Simple, tasteful photos. Really looking forward to the new catalog; especially with the nod to 60s Hollywood with the Jag.

Hopefully the new catalog won't take as long as it has lately to reach me. Over a year ago I was getting them about the same time as you in the states, sometimes even earlier than you. But as others have mentioned it's often a week or two later.

  30. Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has tried the Cinema Coat. I'm looking at it for final sale. Any inputs on sizing? Does it fit well/True to size? Or just don't bother because it's a funky man shape. :P

  31. I actually really like it, and am looking forward to see it at my local store AND online.

I think the shoes are fun, too - I always like mixing slightly-crazy-overly-trendy shoes with more conservative outfits; it provides a nice juxtaposition and can be a super easy way to update an outfit that might contain older items from years past!

  32. Christy I agree that the shoes are impractical. I also think they are hideously ugly :)

Glad to see the outrageous layering is gone.

  34. @gapgirl I just got my Spring Rewards card in the mail as well. I also got one of those "special VIP number" white cards like they sent out a year or two ago (if only I'd saved the card to see if the phone number was identical). The 800# card came in a separate, unmarked envelope from the rewards card. Interested to see if they're running some kind of other promotion with this as well. I posted photos here: ratsonparade.blogspot.com. Has anyone else gotten this?

  36. I don't think this is going to beat the spring 2008 Neutra's Kaufmann house spread, but at least the styling in these two photos is similarly scaled (although those black heels and pink skirt are fug).

  37. I like the return to simplicity and hope JC keeps it this way. I can't wait to see the catalog.

  38. The new catalog will be available in stores starting Saturday. I got a sneek peek-very cute! Fav's include a gorgeous sequin dress from Collection that I would die to own but have no place to wear it and some spring plaid woven's.
