Extra 30% Off Sale Items & Free Shipping

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Laura (in this post), Geneva (in this post), as well as Ketan, who shared the following promotion from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is offering 30% off all final sale items (no min) and free shipping (on $100+) with promo code MUSTSHOP. The offer expires this Sunday, February 6, 2011.

This promotion also extends to J.Crew's Factory Online (click here to shop). J.Crew sent an email that Factory has its own Footwear under its name. I honestly did not know that. I have seen shoes at their Factory stores, but from seasons past of Regular retail.

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get? Does your local B&M have "final sale" as well?

  1. Gah, I just ordered a couple of the new spring items that went to sale the other day. I guess I'll be re-ordering/returning again. sigh. If anyone is interested in the factory printed Sanur dress, it's final sale, but comes to just over $17.

  2. Another one of these? Were there this many % off sales last year?
Good luck shopping to those who are, may your items check out and ship! ;)

  3. a bit off topic, but i was browsing the madewell site this AM and noticed their sale section suddenly became 'final sale'. i guess they're following in their big sister's footsteps! ;)

  4. So many extra % off sales this winter! I'll check out some of the winter accessories and maybe pick up some more gloves, but I am jcrew sale-d out. If they would lower some prices, then I would probably bite!

  5. Even though I have an unspent rewards card I don't see anything in sale I have to have ... interesting that the leatherette lace up ballet flats went on sale so fast, but after some deliberation I still couldn't stomach $70 for man made linings and the high maintenance colorway - and the fact that I just saw them for FP in the new arrivals last week, meh. Not really motivated to pounce now if you kwim.

  6. I woke up and had a feeling there would be a promo so I dashed to my computer... to find that there is nothing worth buying that is available in my size. Guess my rewards card will have to stick around another day!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Nothing for me. I tried to checkout with the bronzed leopard flats in my cart- they got snatched out just as I was entering my payment info. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  8. I was also thinking there would be another promo soon and here it is. They must really have a lot of leftover merchandise to get rid of.

stef: I also noticed the Final Sale at Madewell this morning and commented about it on the previous thread regarding the Madewell site. I just can't believe they are honestly implementing it since there are only a handful of stores and practically no availability for most customers to try anything on. It's really quite absurd, IMHO.

  9. Hmm, I'm wondering if this will go down to 40% again!

  10. Friends don't let friends buy final sale! It's tough to read reviews from people who are disappointed with FS purchases. Please check out all the reviews online and ask for measurements if you do decide to take the leap.

I'm disappointed that MW has jumped on the final sale bandwagon, but it obviously must be working for JC if they decided to try it as well. Another reason not to purchase FS - as long as it seems like a good business decision to them, they'll continue to do it.

  11. Like others, I figured there would be a promo this morning. I carefully added items to my cart--factory winnie, a belt, factory capris--to make the free ship minimum. Then I mashed the 'submit order' button. For the first time ever, I immediately thought, 'NO!!!' and cancelled the order just like that. Maybe I heard too many of the tales of woe silver lining mentions, or maybe I just felt a touch sick giving my money to a company whose corporate dealings strike me as avaricious and shady. I suppose if that $ is burning a hole in my pocket, I can trot on over to anthro's site; they're offering free shipping with $150 thru Sunday.

  12. I took a look at the sale items, but nothing there was interesting or cheap enough to amke me jump off my wallet. I'm going to pull a Jenna and 'shop my closet' instead.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 30% off and free shipping was motivation enough to pick up the Ever peacoat with thinsulite. At $118, the final price is more than half off.

    ReplyDelete
  14. not long after posting about MW's turn to the dark side, i rec'd an email from them: "this is it:FINAL SALE..."

ha! yep, MW..this is it! i dabbled a bit with you during your 30% off promo, but like silver lining and FFM suggested, i'm not down with that!

as for JC's latest promo...i was tempted by a few of the collection items that hit sale after the 40% off promo, but just can't bring myself to pull the trigger--i had reasonably good luck the last promo but have def been the victim of receiving crappy condition and/or wrong items during previous FS...can't take the chance when some stuff is still rather pricey!

btw, are some b&ms still having final sale? i was at the prince st, nyc shop yesterday and the sale section was entirely gone and replaced by new arrivals!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Nothing for me. Having ordered & returned so much, & having had a hit of 'really' wanting something, I have no desire for anything currently available for final sale.

Boo Madwell! How unfair is that? FFM nailed it on the head.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ordered a puffer vest and a couple pair of gloves. We have snow in Central TX and more cold weather on the way....! Since my order did not total $100, I ordered several pair of jeans and some dresses I've been wanting to try (FP) that will be returned but I might as well bring to the fitting room to me!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Do not order the factory shoes... except for maybe the fabric ones. The others are cheap plastic and they look horrid!

No order for me but I did just place an order with Lands End Canvas who is having an extra 30% off and it is not final sale... can be returned any time for any reason. So refreshing!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I used the 30% for some beach tees, sweats and cargos for my 5 year old son & our March vacation. I justified it as a chance to inspect Crewcut quality before spending more $ on Jcrew summer clothing for him. His stuff from last year did not hold up. Too bad, as I *love* the colors of Crewcut clothes. Fingers crossed they work. {PS only 1 of the 7 items showed up Final Sale. Yay!}

  19. I will probably take a look and see if there is anything worthwhile. As an aside, I am wearing the sequined jaspe sweatshirt to work today (with a very old elizabeth cami that I have from years ago underneath) and I really really like it. I scored it with the 40% off sale promo for $23.99. If it pops back, it is definitely worth it!

  20. Noticed this last night around 9PM (PST). DH asked for the Whitman Herringbone Ludlow Sportcoat and since we had some reward card money, we bit. I added the trouper pant in the shadow, even though I have a sneaking suspicion sale may go to 40% and they seem to have plenty in my size. Probably shouldn't have, but also got a heather cobblestone cardigan....I know it will pill like nuts but I adore the color.

    ReplyDelete
  21. No final sale for me. I have enough fall/winter to last a lifetime (well, at least a few years) and I'm not that excited about the spring stuff either! I guess my rewards card will have to wait until the next new rollout and hopefully there will be something more exciting to spend my $$$ on!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ahhh I knew it, I called it yesterday, lol.

I looked, but I didn't see much that interested me. The few things I tried to buy were ghost items.

Trying to hold off anyway until my inaugural factory store trip on Monday. Worried they may have a better deal going there in-store.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree about the factory shoes. They are CHEAP looking.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am shocked that factory is selling "man-made" ballet flats for over $70. WTF?? I could shoes like that at Payless or Target for about $15. Unbelievable.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Miss, that was my exact reaction when I saw them in the store. They are worse quality than many of the Target flats, honestly. Often you can get real leather or suede at target for $19.99!!! Offering extremely cheap flats at any price seems like a bad move for J.Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Damn you J Crew! Of course I bit on this, even though I tried VERY hard not to!

I'm just a total sucker for the cotton cardigans and the Factory keeps coming out with them in cute prints. I've been eyeing the starfish necklace too for a long time . . will look so cute with my Maritime striped blazer! Threw in a simple black knit cardigan that I actually did need and was at the $100 for free ship.

Ok, now this . . is it!! For a long time!! (Yeah right! :) )

    ReplyDelete
  27. I check Jcrew site almost daily and I do it several times a day.
Yesterday afternoon (this is before the additional 30% off thing came up), I saw the camden brogue in light ginger in my size (7.5) and there were only 2 left. I knew if I waited they'd be gone quickily. So I pulled the trigger for the shoes at $99.99. I also bought the marled knit snood which I had liked from seeing it online on models. They seemed to sell out quickily and I've never seen it in person.
Can those who have the camden in light ginger comment on how you style them? I recently ordered a pair in nutmeg (really nice brown) and they looked fabulous with dresses and skirt. However, at $250/pair I'm not keeping them. I hope the light ginger one will go well with my spring/summer clothes. Hope someone can give some ideas of how you pair the shoes with outfits.

As for FS item, I got my stuff yesterday and the infinity cardigan in rustic barn (a nice red) is too small for me (xxs). I'm 5'5, 110lb. For those petite girls, if you're interested, please email me at angela.c.young@gmail.com. I'll sell it for about $35 including shipping. If not, I'll try to return it to the store "with out receipt." Has anyone tried that? In that case, do you just get a store credit?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Angela: So lucky you got the Camden Brogues in light ginger. I'm still searching for my size 7. I think it would look cute in capri pants or boyfriend jeans. Also cute with skirts...

As for the returns without receipts, ever since JC changed the return policy last September I don't think you're allowed to return w/o receipts even if you wanted store credit. You could try it but my B&M is firm about their policies. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I didn't order with this promo. I see a tee I would like but don't feel like loading my cart with ride-a-longs.

I also saw that email from Madewell about "final sale." That just confirmed that I will not be shopping there since I don't have a store near by me to try things on and to put the burden on the customer about sizing and quality it just isn't worth for me to spend my money there.

    ReplyDelete
  30. No final sale for me. I really need to make a trip to goodwill as it is and at this point it's too much of a risk to end up with worn or defective goods. They must have a lot of merchandise left from F/W. Have they released their Q4 results yet?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this- today I noticed a big price jump on the Factory Printed Perfect shirt. I ordered one last weekend for $14.50 and now it is $29.50! Glad I didn't wait to order that since 30% off still doesn't bring it down to what I paid.

  33. I bought 2 jewelery items & the sequin bib cami last night. Still holding myself off the Miller short moto flat boots #28676. I am tempted when seeing how slouchy they can be here on the model

Does anyone happen to own a pair & give me some idea? I don't want to be fooled by the styling pics since it's FS & NOT returnable
    Thanks

  34. I return Final Sale stuff to the B&Ms all the time for store credit, and nobody has ever given me a problem. The Sales Associates are just firm that I will receive store credit, but they have never denied me...I am curious to know which ones are firm about not providing store credit so I know which ones to avoid!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Can anyone comment on the Factory jewelry? The pear shaped earrings would be pretty cheap, around ten bucks. Wondering the quality. Order the ice drop earrings ladies! They are gorgeous in person and now would be about $28 with free shipping.

  36. I would order a coat if it wasn't final sale, too risky on fit! Also, and this is not to be snide and a J Crew hater, but it's official: my KOHL'S cashmere is wearing BETTER than my J Crew cashmere, and it isn't even close. My popover has so many pills under the arm it isn't even funny. I used the sweater comb, which seemed awesome, but I swear by the end of the day it made more pills because it "lifted" the cashmere. And this comparison is based on the J Crew sweaters having been worn a few times, while I wear my Kohl's cashmere all the time while laying around the house (since it was so cheap, $30 or less). I know Kohl's doesn't offer much in the way of color, this year was especially bad, but my argyle brown cardi is quite cute. You should all check them out next year, it's just as soft and wears well! My boyfriend's cashmere v necks from there are also wearing well.

  37. Oh poo, I could have used this yesterday. I grabbed a pop-back Rhapsody Hobo in the sale section. Valentine's gift for me, which I purchased on behalf of hubby. (: Oh well, what are the chances it would have popped up again today.

Promos like this are awesome for handbag purchases!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh, and final sale @ Madewell? BALLS.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I went in to the store today, and noticed a lot of spring on sale, but no additional % off.

I glimpsed the Herringbone schoolboy blazer in Driftwood again. This is surprisingly one of my favorites from spring. It's like a shimmering linen blazer. It's really pretty and I must have it.

  40. New York & Paris,

My store never lets me return FS items, unless I previously clear it w/ CS on the phone. Your store must have some nice SAs.

  41. Po-
I bought the Miller Short Motorcycle boots on the last promo, and I do like them. They don't have to be that slouchy in real life; I think they scrunched and folded the top over to get that effect. They are wide around the ankle and the buckles help cinch it in, which I like with jeans tucked in. Keep in mind: I wear a 7.5 and felt they were too long so I reordered a 7 to see if that is a better fit. Also, they are pointy like a dress shoe but not excessively pointy like Elvis Costello ala 1980's. Just not rounded like Harley Davidson. Oh, also they don't feel extremely expensive, and I will replace the heel/sole (it is very cheap rubber, leaves skids and seems like it wear off completely.) All that being said, I do love the style, and had been looking for a boot like this all winter. cheer. KT

  42. Has anyone seen any reviews on the women's Gloverall coats? I saw a couple on pop back this morning but couldn't find any reviews on this site or other JC blogs. I've been waiting for JC to bring back a toggle winter coat (a la 2007) and it seems this is the only choice they've given in the past couple years.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Pathos, I'm glad the Miller Short Motorcycle boots worked out for you. I also bought these, but was less than happy and ended up returning them.

I ended finding a pair of Frye Veronica Slouch boots instead. Really narrow compared to even the millers but I stretched them out to fit.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Pathos & Wolfy,
Thank you so much for the comments. I might get the Miller if a 40% extra pops back (hopefully)

    ReplyDelete
  45. PO, just to let you know the Miller short boots are not exactly black. They are so distressed, I would actually label these as grey. The way they narrow to the toe they look less motorcycle and more like dress boots if you wear them with pants.

Having said all that, I do like the buckles on the side and would think these would look rather cute in a skirt or dress; just not with pants IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow, I ordered the striped Costine, an ivory Painter cardigan, and a heather pewter cashmere boatneck sweatshirt this morning, and already have the shipped email as of tonight... fastest processing during these sales yet!

  47. BeyondtheBlue, JC prices have rubber in them.

  48. OT,
Anyone know where good leggings can be found? I tried on JCs basic leggings today and although they fit in the waist they were a bit loose in the ankles & knees.
    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  49. New Yorkamp & Paris,

I shop 3 JCrew stores and they do not allow returns of final sale items. I don't know where you shop but I bet if corp. found out they would put a stop to it or speak to the store manager! That is the craziest story I have heard and I have shopped JCrew for going on 10 years now.

I have gotten to return obviously defective merchandise throught the mail last year and a few times before that but I am stuck with a box of stuff in my basement destination--GoodWill. I have not even looked at the final sale section since it started. Lesson learned is to stay away. I either buy regular sale or not at all. There are so many good JCrew look alikes out there now I can get my "fix" and return.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I picked up another merino cielo cardigan, my third now. The 30% and 40% discounts made that cardigan extraordinarily cheap. Even paying shipping this morning the total came to $31. I hope it comes with it's tag attached and not all crumpled like the tag-less crumpled dore cardi I got a few weeks ago.

By the way, note on the cielo ... I had a prior season ruffled cardi and was able to detach the ruffle by removing the stitching. I did that to the cielo and the sweater came apart! LOL! The binding around the opening came off. Now I have to put it back on. I ordered another one to replace it, this time I'll TRIM the ruffles off, not remove them.

  51. Wolfy and Po-
Wow, mine aren't distressed at all and are a true black. I wonder if the pair you got was just a weird fluke? Hmm...

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hi guys! Quick question

If you make a purchase with both a gift and credit card, will a refund be made to your credit card if you keep items over the value of the gift card?

    (Hope that makes sense!)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Po:

I agree with Pathos. My Miller short boots are definitely black, not gray (although a rubbed, dull black from distressing). They are not too slouchy, and I have thin calves. They are perfect with skinny jeans, leggings or pixie pants. I found them to fit TTS. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  54. minzun....

No, Jcrew will issue you back the gift card....I have had this happen twice now....

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks Elizabeth! You just confirmed a policy that puzzles me.

"If you need to return any items to us, a credit would first be issued back in the form of a gift card. Any credits over [the gift card total] would then go back to your Visa card. Hope this helps."

  56. Hi, I'm new to buying JCrew online.. And i was wondering when you see the additional 30% off. In step four i enter the code, but the total stays the same. Will it be lowered in step 5? Is your purchased confirmed at step 4 or 5?

    Thanks,

    Rut

  57. Just thought someone might be interested in this popback: the caden sandal in gold in 11 for $59 - 30% right now!. I LOVE these and if this was my size, I'd order another pair. http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/shoes/wedgesespadrilles/PRDOVR~25623/25623.jsp#

  58. minzunuami: When I use both forms of payment I have found that the store will return it all to my visa and catalog/online will return it all to gift card. I have never had anyone at J. Crew break up a return for the seperate amounts purchased to individual cards.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi Rut! The code should have worked after you updated your order in step 4 (make sure to click the "Update Order" button after typing it in!) Also make sure you enter in your credit card information, since they don't take off discounts until you've entered a payment option. Also, make sure the total equals $100 after the discount is applied if you plan on using free ship! Hope that helps.

Kathy- that's good to know! I was hoping someone here had that experience :) I'm going to try that.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thanks! I hadn't entered the creditcard info yet, so I'll try it again! :)

  61. Thanks Summer for the Leggings find suggestion.

In regards to the Miller's, I must have received a defective pair or my idea of distressed is a little different than others. I was also looking for more rounded motorcycle boots not pointed dress boots. They gave me that vibe when I tried them on with pants.

Like I said before, I was looking more for something like the Frye Veronica Slouch

I got a great deal with the Miller's, but if it's not 100% exactly what I want and I won't wear them, then that deal might not be so great after all.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Totally OT, but there is the old-school wool plaid mini in a sz 2 on ebay with a BIN of $25 -- total steal! I wore mine so much this past holiday season!

  69. My black short miller boots are distressed, almost gray in color also. Wondering if they have two different production runs of them? Bought mine with the last 30% off sale. Purchased the higher black ones at the same time and they are a true black.

  70. Big update this morning, although still nothing I haven't seen recently.

  72. Finally bit the bullet and purchased the Lady Day coat in ivory. Had gotten in it Flame, size 4 a month ago but the price and color (and fit -- what the heck, it was larger than their typical coats?!) were not justifiable. Hoping the coat looks as lovely as I anticipate it to...

  73. Wolfy, I like American Apparel's leggings. And fwiw, I also noticed that the black seemed almost greyish or distressed on the high heel tall Miller boots I got. I still really like them, but wouldn't classify them as "true" black. But close enough.
