Preface: A big "thanks!" to Amy who suggested a weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post about current experiences with other non-J.Crew retailers. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)
This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)
If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.
Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.
Talbots has 20% off starting tomorrow on all new spring items in store and online. If you are a black card member (like me--Wow--did I spend a lot there last year!) it started yesterday. A true rewards program at Talbots for cardholders! free ship with $175+ or use red phone in store for free shipping all the time.
ReplyDeletesub!
ReplyDelete20% off clothing, shoes, and accessories when you spend $75+ at Target plus Free Shipping. You can see my blog post from Sunday about it here. :)
ReplyDeleteGenny, thanks for the heads-up. I'm interested in some of their skirts and accessories.
ReplyDeletesub :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Genny!
ReplyDeleteI have been patiently waiting for a new Talbots 20% promotion to buy new Spring items.
Target has a nice trench, it is Merona brand, for $49.99. It was proportioned properly for me at 5'10", which the J.Crew icon trench is not. It is obviously not as nice as the icon trench. I tried it on yesterday and really liked it. It would be a good substitute if you want a black trench since that color is no longer available in the icon. Here is the link to black, it also comes in other color: http://www.target.com/Merona-Water-Repellent-Long-Trench/dp/B0044XR4DU/ref=br_1_5?ie=UTF8&id=Merona%20Water%20Repellent%20Long%20Trench&node=2336084011&searchSize=30&searchView=grid5&searchPage=1&sr=1-5&qid=1297266655&rh=&searchBinNameList=target_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Cprice&searchRank=salesrank&frombrowse=1
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the cardigans from LL Bean Signature? They've got one that is similar to the Jackie, and I was wondering how it fits.

ReplyDeleteTalbots - I recvd a multi-use postcard for 20% off all full price items, good thru 2/21. Free shipping on $175 or more. Hopefully I can share my code, which is 025147146. Remember, shipping is free on all items all the time when you use the red phone in-stores.
ReplyDeleteBR one-time use code for today only:
ReplyDeleteXJTMWXNWBM74
Good for 35% off up to 2 full price items.
Well, found out the code Talbots gives you on the postcard is your own unique customer number. Same that is on the yellow box of the back of your catalog. That is what Gigi gave out I am assuming as my postcard code is my customer#. So most likely if you are a Talbots customer and hold their free red card (not a credit card) or any of their credit cards your own customer number should give you the discount. Hope this helps:)
ReplyDeletesub - found this one by going through the main page - my Google reader didn't pick it up for some reason
ReplyDeleteBR one time code is:

I was flipping through the Boden catalog I rec'd in the mail today and saw that they have a striped Jersey Blazer. Here is the link. It made me think of the J.Crew Maritime Blazer, which I know some JCAs were less than impressed with quality wise. The Boden one looks really cute, has a nice polka dot lining, and seems to be made of a heavier knit. If I had some extra money I'd probably get it because I love a jersey blazer... it's an easy way to dress up even the sloppiest outfit involving yoga pants :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and it's $20 cheaper than the J.Crew one.
I'm very quickly falling in love with Lands End Canvas. I've ordered several items from them since November - better pricing, quality, customer service, RETURN POLICY. But I admit, I'm still hung up on J. Crew...
ReplyDeleteWe (that would be me and other Boden babes--lol, I don't know how well that works, but I like it) created another Boden Weekly Review Roundup for those of you that are interested. :)

I think that striped blazer is darling. I have enough blazers but if someone owns it and is willing to share a review, you can e-mail me at dinagideon@aim.com. Thanks!
JCrewJD- I ordered that Boden blazer last week, and plan on reviewing it on my blog when I get it. I debated forever between that and the Maritime blazer, so I hope I made the right choice.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any comments/feedback on how Talbot's shoes fit? Specifically, their pumps? They are beautiful!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Hi mack - I have 3 pairs of Talbot's heels (in varying heights) and like them very much. I find them to be TTS (I'm consistently a 9 almost everywhere, and Tal's 9's fit me perfectly), fairly comfortable and well made. I have not tried any platforms though, and couldn't speak to comfort on those. I'd recommend giving them a try.
ReplyDeleteYesterday at lunchtime, I did go to Talbots. Usually, 20% off is not enough to entice me into a store. I'm a deep bargain person.
ReplyDeleteBut I got a feeling that the Champs-Elysees blue linen-blend skirt might not make it to permanent markdown, so I bit the bullet. I'm a double-digit, extended-size person, so I used the red line and got free shipping.
