Perfect to use on a new Spring arrival or two, especially if you have free shipping when you log into your account (refer to "Meet Marissa (& log-in to see if you got free ship..." post).
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any items you are interested in getting? If so, please share. :)
It's nice (and unusual) to see a promo on a holiday weekend. I don't know if I'll be partaking because a) we've still got a way to go until spring here in the NE and b) I just can't be certain that the prices won't go down even more very soon. I had my eye on the retro shell but read yesterday that it's $49.99 in stores. I just don't have the ambition to do all the detective work on prices.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to reading reviews from all the JCA's that do take advantage of this promo!
Hmm, if I had free shipping on my account I'd definitely partake. Without it, I'm feeling pretty ambivalent.
ReplyDeletePass as I'm only buying things I love, & that do not fall into the categories specified in the next paragraph.
ReplyDeleteMy closet has reached & exceeded it's capacity for t-shirts (except rare, beautiful new colors), thin cotton t-shirts designed to pose as wearable everyday tops, long cardi's, the colors grey & orange (aka papaya, melon, etc.), and button downs.
Give me cute, cute summer dresses, tops & skirts please! Oh, & sandals w/less than three buckles.
I'm with Roxy, the 20% gets mostly eaten by the shipping so I am not so sure I'll get anything. (Plus the shoes I like are already on sale...)
ReplyDeleteI decided to get the Matinee Trench in the khaki color. I've always wanted a trench with a hood! Also picked up the New Cafe Capris. Anyone tried these??
ReplyDeleteHmm, not sure yet. There have been a few items I've been interested in seeing person (cece ballet flats, matinee trench, maritime dress), but like others, not sure if the 20% is even worth it. I'm wondering how fast these items will be marked down.
ReplyDeleteHi Lia - I think that Desert Flower tried the new cafe capris. Check some of the Review posts from the last couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteHi love2shop4bags - there was a post here dedicated to the matinee trench about 2 weeks ago, I think - and several JCA's have reviewed the maritime dress (a little big, thick for summer) both here and on other blogs.
new markdowns on final sale. I'm waiting for a % off code, though before I dive in!

ReplyDeleteI was excited for the promo until I read further and discovered that I would have to pay shipping. Boo J.Crew.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I still might weigh the costs since it's a suiting item and hardly ever makes it to sale.
i did luck out with free shipping, but i'm not sure if i'm ready to bite on spring wear. nothing is calling out to me quite yet...except maybe the duchesse ruffle short--but those seem to have disappeared quickly. didn't realize those would be so popular!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm peeved b/c they 'reduced' the suiting pieces so that they are no longer full price and won't be elgible for the promo. Who wants to bet me money that they will magically become full price after the promo is over.
ReplyDeleteSince I lucked out with free shipping, I decided to check out the Dulcie Mini. There were only a couple sizes left, so wasn't sure if it would sell out. Has anyone seen it in stores at all? Will report back on if it's worth the still quite high price. Looks beautiful in the picture, but you never know. Wish the 20% would have applied to both full-price and sale, but can't complain too much.

ReplyDeleteSub!
ReplyDeleteMaybe on the Merino Confetti Crew Neck
ReplyDeletewhich is supposed to be in my store today. My PS usually honors the online promo. Other than that - no temptations.
Tempted by the driving scarf and the locket. But wanted to take this month easy shopping wise...
ReplyDeleteInterested in a handbag, but won't buy without free shipping.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried on the Cadabra Cardigan?
ReplyDeleteSo tempted by the Silk Blythe blouse! I think I will be going to a b&m this weekend, though--think they'll have the same deal going on there? I'd rather buy in person!
ReplyDeletesCheck again on the Free Shipping - I didn't have it yesterday when y'all were talking about it, but I do today.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with Roxy - if I had been one of the lucky ones to get free shipping on my account, I probably would have been suckered in and bit on this one. But I got the one-time use code. With no promo-stacking, they are out of luck.
ReplyDeleteJC, when will you learn how much more business you'll get with free shipping?
I was all set to buy the striped confetti sweater yesterday, but my friend thought it would probably be marked down, so I decided to exercise some patience.
ReplyDeleteI think I might take advantage of this promo since I have a gift card and am itching to buy something new for my wardrobe.
OT, but has anyone tried the Dotted Tulle Fineline Cami? I'd love any opinions on the sizing and level of sheerness.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Just thought I would mention, I thought I only had a one-time code, that's what my email said. So when I saw the 20% code I was mad I didn't order something new yesterday. But, I logged in to my Account, and it said "Please enjoy free shipping today." So, even if you had a one time code, you still might get free shipping again if you log in to your account.
ReplyDeleteI don't have free shipping in my account so I'll pass on this promo.
ReplyDeleteNow, if the stores have this promo going on I will make a trip there.
Just took ecampochiaro's advice and logged in - the other day when I got the meet Marissa email, my account did not say this, but now it says:
ReplyDelete"As a special thank you, we will be offering some exclusive benefits throughout the year. To make sure you are taking full advantage of each and every perk, check your email and sign in to your registered J.Crew account each time you visit jcrew.com.
Today, please enjoy free standard shipping."
Interesting. Maybe I will cave now. :)
Has anyone seen the Verona jacket IRL?
I just ordered the Avenelle cutout wedges in burnt sienna and spiced olive and the lighthouse cardigan. I got the 20% off and free shipping for using FABFEB. Yay!! I was so happy to get the free shipping.
ReplyDeleteThe high minimum always kills any excitement I may have had for these codes
ReplyDeleteSorry, I know this is off-topic, but I have the opportunity to purchase some J Crew Nottingham boots.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if these (and J Crew boots in general) run true to size? I thought I'd ask the experts! ;0)
I wear an 8 in J Crew ballet flats and, usually, I size down half a size in other brands' boots.
TIA!
I'm so angry about being denied free shipping yet again that I wouldn't even order if there was something I really wanted.
ReplyDeleteHappily for me, I have zero interest in the current rollout. BOO YOU J Crew. You lose. I win!
I've been eyeing the Indian voile shirt in strawberry and the Sawyer pursette, so I ordered both of those. I'm also considering the Collins platforms, but they're expensive even with the 20% and free shipping. Anyone have them/seen them?
ReplyDeleteI like 20% off AND free shipping on $100 minimum. That's why I took advantage of the last offer on knits and tees.
ReplyDeleteThis offer is really only a 10% savings on $150 when I have to pay for shipping.
I do love the Delaney Eyelet shirt, but am wondering about the 'see through' factor.
kelly: I have a pair of tall suede Nottingham boots and find that they run true to size. They're a bit narrow than I'd like so I had them stretched out but in terms of length they were true to size. I'm a 7.5 in all other brands, and a 7 or 7.5 in J. Crew flats (depending on the style) but a consistent 7.5in J. Crew boots. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteSeveral things:
ReplyDelete1) I did not have free shipping yesterday, but when I logged in today, it was there!
2) JenLynn, I purchased the Chambray shirt (FB), and then added the Nouvelle jacket, which was discounted.
The code worked, and while it did only discount the FP item...I was able to reach $150 using a combination of FP/discounted items.
Hope this makes sense! :)
ElleBelle
Thanks very much, Tippy! :0)
ReplyDeleteI didn't get FS on my acct from the Marissa email (got one time code that could not be stacked), but I also just found that I got FS when I logged into my acct! So I used the promo on a few things I want to see IRL, and I re-ordered the fleur du jour flats to save $30. They hid them on the site (sneaky) but you can find them with a word search.
ReplyDeleteEven if they are marked down further, it's better to buy now while it's not final sale and I can always rebuy later. There's a store 2 blocks from my office so returning isn't too much of a hassle.
Kris, I too am eyeing the Collins, but even with 20% off they're still more than I'm willing to pay, especially since I'm tardy for the party and I don't even have a J Crew account yet even though I've been ordering from them for many years.
ReplyDeleteAdd to previous post: and I don't yet have any free shipping promos. (I have not had enough coffee yet today.)
ReplyDeleteThere are quite a few things "hidden" on the site like the retro shell, matinee trench, and navy schoolboy blazer. They come up through a word search. Odd.
ReplyDeletesilver_lining, i'm willing to bet it's not odd but rather is quite calculated by JC to remove items that are selling well at FP from the site during the promo. I would find this sketchy on JC's part but I know other retailers do it too.
ReplyDeleteCass, ITA with you. At least now we have a better idea of what's selling at FP and what's not!
ReplyDeleteI have "Today, please enjoy free standard shipping." on my account too. So now I have this plus the Marissa one time use code. I wonder if the account free shipping will be valid as long as the Marissa code. IF they'd be clear about these things I could give my one time use code away.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is strange. The Matinee Trench page indicates that it should be in the Cotton and Denim section of the Outerwear category, but it's not there. From now on if I don't find something I'm looking for I'll be sure to do a search.
ReplyDeleteSo frustrated trying to use this promo! First I didn't realize you needed to spend $150 to get the 20% off (my fault for skimming- I thought the $150 was for free s/h which apparently this promo does not include) and then when I added two skirts to my cart, both of which are new and "promotionally priced" i.e. $10 or so off and do not end in $.99, the discount won't apply to those either. Considering I only wanted one FP shirt to begin with, which I don't think is worth $75.00 on its own, I may be better off checking my B&M or just plain waiting for sale. Kinda disappointing.
ReplyDeleteWould also like to add that my regular account does not have free shipping, but the faux account I created a couple months ago (for this very reason!) and have only used twice has it.
Bought matinee trench with promo + FS. Wheeee
ReplyDeleteI think I might have to use it! I love the "Siren" dress on the website. And the Saint James shirts are nice!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get the free shipping but I wouldn't have used it on this promo anyways. There is very little that is fp and I like right now and I am appalled at how fast things get marked down, especially in store (BTW, dolby mini is 49.99 in stores).
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just saw the Carrie sweater in store that I was planning on maybe getting in sale and it is a peach-y color, nothing like the beige pictured on the website.
I also saw the driving scarf with the geo-print and color code is ROR (so you have to select the retro orange color when making the selection. Very pretty and I jope that the next rollout will bring a blouse in the same print.
This is great news! Looks like the same discount for men won't be far behind.
ReplyDeleteI think I will go for it--I got the free shipping code email, haven't spent my rewards card yet and have 2 gift certificates from christmas. Am interested in some of the new shoes (the gladiators, the wedges, etc). I wonder if there will be a conflict with combining the free ship code form the Marissa email and this promotion?
ReplyDeleteNo love for the men, how sad.
ReplyDeletejcrew guy, maybe JCrew thinks that all men just shop at Home Depot and Canadian Tire. I will be ticked if they don't come out with a similar sale by March 1st.
ReplyDeletefor some reason, without using my marissa code, shipping was automatically free..... then 20% off worked. I picked up a bunch of work skirts, a pair of work pants and a couple of heels- all the stuff i cant find in stores. I was under the impression that jcrew had all of those coupon codes and sales late last year was due to bringing out the new stuff early and getting rid of inventory. i suppose their next roll out is due soon and possibly that is why we're getting a code.
ReplyDeleteSame for me, Is Not Fashion...logged into my account and I had free shipping for today so didn't need to put in the code. Picked up the Avenelle Cut out wedges in spiced olive (which had mysteriously dropped off the site; had to do a search to find them and then they were available, in stock, all sizes and colors ---what up J Crew?) and the Milano gladiator sandals in sand dune. Wished I could find something else but don't really need anything else. Went into a B&M yesterday and noticed a $20 off denim promo so picked up the downtown skinny jeans and a cotton bell skirt (which was also $10 off)...I'm pretty much set for a while I think...
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have an opinion on the wool schoolboy blazer vs. the nylon one that is on sale? The nylon one is unlined but looks pretty cool. I have a gift card for $50 so I am debating...
ReplyDeleteTamara, I think I'm going to try them in the suede, I'll post a review.
ReplyDeleteOops! I just posted my last question as "Julie," not realizing that my sister-in-law, who is visiting, had logged in earlier!
ReplyDeleteTo the person who asked about the matinee trench- it is super cute but I don't think worth anywhere near full price. I am going to hold out until I can get it for around $100 (hopefully even less) or it won't be coming home with me. The material is kind of stiff and doesn't feel very good or luxe. I also don't love the bright silver snaps, I think it cheapens it. Also, the hood is HUGE. I think that it runs about a 1/2 size big, but I also found the sleeves to run a little short, so I couldn't size down to a 00. All that being said, it is very cute and it is a great piece for spring/summer/fall as a rain jacket (though not waterproof, I carry an umbrella anyway).
ReplyDeleteThe cece flats- I LOVE THEM. I got them in black and they are fantastic. They fit TTS for J.Crew flats and they seem more structured than my zip front flats which have the same shape/silhouette. I got the black and the barely shinier front toe is great (it isn't patent, I was concerned about that before ordering). I don't know if they are worth FP, but the 20% off probably makes them an okay deal.
Nuts to this promo. I resent having to spend so much just to get a discount. No sir. I shan't bite.
ReplyDeleteWell, I went with the nylon schoolboy and also got the super cute Amie dress! I justified the lack of free shipping with the fact that I had a gift card. Maybe the wool one will go on sale at some point. I think it's overpriced at $188.
ReplyDeleteI bit on this promo. I called in the order b/c the code wasn't working for me.
ReplyDeleteI tried ordering items that I know wouldn't go on sale. The Navy Schoolboy blazer, Dock-strip perfect shirt in blue, Herringbone Schoolboy blazer in Aged driftwood (probably would go on sale eventually-what the heck) & the Factory tiered lace cami (which will sale out fast I bet-got a nice CSR who gave me the discount on it as well.
I just posted IRL pics of the Herringbone schoolboy blazer here
ReplyDeleteHappy President's Day weekend to all the JCAs!
Caitlin,
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late reply, hope you get to see it. I'd say the cami is TTS- a nice change from their baggy blouses. If you've tried the retro shell, the fit is similar- I took a 0 in both. With a nude bra under you can see through just a tiny bit. Some might prefer a cami underneath but I don't think it's necessary. Also, it was $49.99 in my store (Tysons in McLean, VA) as opposed to $59.99 like online. HTH!
gotta say, J Crew you really suck for leaving out the men. I will gladly spend my $ elsewhere this weekend. Stupid move people.
ReplyDeleteJB, gotta agree-----what a bone-head move by 'crew leaving the men out. We have probably the same amount of disposable income like the women. If we don't get a similar offer by March 1, I'll look to Brooks Brothers.
