Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

    Has anyone seen any nice plain camel crewneck sweaters? Similar to the Tippi, but ideally, machine washable.

      Thanks Cate. It doesn't show on my computer but I see that they lowered the minimum to $150 on the code that I used yesterday (RTNSAKS6)

      I found one from Boden....but it is cashmere so not machine washable. But I Lurve it....and I don't even like camel. I got it for 118 during a sale.

    Saks F&F going on right now, 20% off with code FRNFAM2. Kind of silly that they don't add free shipping automatically but at least they offer free shipping and free returns with a $200 purchase. There are a lot of designers exclusions but not Tory Burch so if in case you want to try the Revas in the colors that never go on sale this is THE sale to get them (they are an exclusion at both Bloomingdales and Tory Burch). Ebates is 5% so that comes down to a 25% discount. A very good deal in my opinion. I live in Revas and I ordered a new pair (Ok, two to choose from). They fit TTS. While the JCrew flats hit me in the wrong place and are painful, I never had a problem with the Revas, they are the most comfortable flats ever.

    Brooks Brothers has revamped their website and is offering free shipping on orders over $200 for a limited time, although the email does not say when the limited time ends. The minimum is high but the shipping at Brooks Brothers always seems high to me, it's based on the cost of the order.

    Brooks Brothers is also offering the gift of a free leather duffel bag with any outwear purchase of $498 US or more ($575 CDN). The duffel is worth over $500 and is really nice. I saw it at the local B&M but I already bought my coats with the 25% off F&F deal, which I like much better.

    Two queries today:

    What do we think of J. Brand denim? I am a petite and I tried J.Crew's toothpicks and matchsticks and they not only look horrible but the denim is so thin. What other brands should I try?

    I bought 2 Boden cashmere crewnecks - in caramel melange ( camel) and clover melange (heather purple). They are cut like I wish the Tippis were cut - slim and not too long for a petite with a pretty understated crew neck (and not the ribbed trim of Tippi). I love them so much that I want more even though I am not feeling this years' color selection. At $118 a pop they are a great alternative to J.Crew cashmere. My question is: do they hold up?

      Love them {JBrand}. I also vouch for AG- you can fins them at any major retailer, but I get mine from Anthro mostly.

      Try Madewell. I love their jeans. They also have a guarantee for free shipping and free returns on jeans.

      I love J Brand - I find most of the cuts to be flattering. Since Shopbop is doing Friends & Family, order a few pairs and see if you like them. They do free shipping and free returns domestically.

      I absolutely love the j.brand 811 mid rise skinny. Both the jeans and the twill pants are fabulous. I am petite and find that I don't usually need them hemmed because they have a short inseam. J.crew toothpicks and matchsticks just do not work for me, but j.brand never fails, washes and wears beautifully (cold water, no dryer) and is worth the price.

    I have to give two thumbs up ( three if I had anextra) to Anthropolgie's Chignon dress- it has the most amazing drape and is super flattering on most body types. I wore mine several times-here .

    So this is not a J.Crew like retailer, but I thought I would pass it along anyway since I am guessing most of us shop at the drugstore from time to time! Today Walgreens has a friends and family discount. 15% off everything, 20% off all Walgreens brand.

    You can print the coupon online, or you can text FALL to 21525 to get the mobile coupon. You can also use the coupon code FAMILY15 if you are shopping online and you'll get free shipping over $25.
